my other thing I like about DECT is that it鈥檚 a very friendly introduction to metafiction literature that isn鈥檛 just smarmy fourth wall breaking but also isn鈥檛 so intensely layered like house of leaves that someone completely unfamiliar with the concept couldn鈥檛 get it
#there鈥檚 a lot to love about the structure of DECT and how it plays into a shit ton of concepts. like the illusion of self-awareness by#fictional characters along with the four act structure. Which to me feels like an ode to death given four is#associated with death in Japanese/Chinese cultures.#like with all metafiction DECT gives off the illusion it is aware of the cruelty and tragedy of V2鈥檚 fate. most days I鈥檓 kinsey 5 dean truthing. he just. Really likes men. the majority of his significant relationships are with men. on any given day I鈥檓 closer to gay dean than Kinsey 3 or lower. but I also enjoy entertaining multitudes so i can see so many different angles and interpretations. except straight dean. there is no such thing. he does not exist.

I made a spotify playlist for one of my fav Silm fics of all time "A Thread Unraveled" by ScribeofArda on Ao3 or @theheirofashandfire here on tumblr
Summary of fic: "Maedhros wakes up again, on the first morning of the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. Of course, nobody calls it that. For them, it hasn't happened yet."
The paylist follows the general vibe of the narrative: Maedhros' realization of the cycles, his struggles, his saving grace, and his determination to succeed in battle with his loved ones alive no matter how many times he has to get back up and try again. The songs genre is mostly: indie, folk, with some musical numbers thrown in because honestly, its not one of my playlists without a musical song or two
This is a brilliant fic so if you havent read it already i would reccomend! It's also an ongoing series and I've probably read the entire thing over a dozen times, its really become one of my favourite comfort fics/series of all time.

#late nights with ali#ali plays ae#finally beat pandora ex and the chaos lords today with soulweaver... it's really grown on me as a class with the new unravelling mechanic#paired with the warlic's gift staff's special and a cheeky instant pierogi here and there I've gotten up to like 3000% damage in a turn#pirate has also won my love for its shielding + opening mechanic. void reunion? no it's ravyn with the steel chair and by that I mean guns#paladin will always be my one true love but sometimes you just gotta have that raw damage output.#I'm still sussing out my strat for carnax and swan song but I know I need to at least finish IE for the ancient dragonlord helm first#we shall see. I do think it's funny that like. My progression as a Pokemon trainer is essentially Preference for Normal Types (has the cutest Pokemon) -> Fairy Types (EXTREMELY cute Pokemon) -> Ghost Types (At one point I died and came back wrong. Sad! Well it happens to the best of us.)
#pokemon#long ago i played w the idea of a self-insert that started w a normal pokemon as a kid#trained a lot of normal/fairy overlaps until veering into fairy exclusively. not quite a prodigy but had potential#then fell off the face of the earth. forgotten by mostly everyone. and veered into ghost types#the one pokemon left over being a mimikyu#but like. it was too directly myself. i can go back w moe bc i add a lot of flair to it#dif pronouns/dif sense of identity than mine (only slightly/extremely similar at the core)#but enough that it's distinct and easy to remove myself when i need to. which is how mani is even allowed to exist#and the kid version of moe too#sometimes i Consider pokemon aus but like. that distinction kicks in again where moe IS its own person#like yeah our signature pokemon may be mimikyu. but also. that thing NEEDS a fuckinh gogoat are you fucking kidding me#i never even THINK about gogoat but when i've played around w moe like. oh that thing NEEDS a fucking gogoat.#idk idk. pokemon kick slowly creeping back on me LMFAO#all i did was see ONE IMAGE. of a shiny pumpkaboo. and i am UNRAVELING.
