Alright so, I'm going through my thousands of BG3 screenshots. I tend to snap pics of conversations and dialogue that I like or find interesting and then ultimately forget about them cuz my brain is mashed potatoes half the time.

ANYWAYS, the scene in act 2 when you save Rolan and he has a breakdown has a lot of lines that I adore but also they break my heart because not only do I love Rolan, but I also relate to him in a few ways. At least on the self loathing part.

Right off the bat, this is what he says after you rescue him. There are so many things he has done right, but he cannot see them, not past his failures, no matter how small.

I particularly LOVE how Larian wrote extra lines for different classes in conversations!! I don't have lines from all of the classes I've played (I'll probably add more to this post later if I end up grabbing more screenshots of em) but I do have a few of my favorites. Here we have my origin Gale, telling Rolan, "A good wizard knows when to ask for guidance - for help." To which, Rolan replies.

Heart-wrenching. And if you ask him, "Should I have left you to die?"

My Druid/Bard, Aislyn, in another play-through, tells him, "If it helps, when I re-tell this story, I could say you killed all the monsters?" His response:

While he is speaking to you in this scene, he starts off angry and venomous but very quickly his tone shifts and his voice begins to quiver as if holding back tears. (Bravo, George Taylor) He talks a big talk in Act 1 at the grove, but he really did mean it when he said "I care about our lives, our futures!" He says his greatest ambition is to become the greatest wizard in all of Faerûn, but it all means nothing if Cal & Lia aren't there to share his future with him.

Their family bond is so important to all three of them and I only wish we had more backstory. I want to know what happened to them and what happened specifically to Rolan in his past that made him feel this way about himself. I love seeing everyone's headcanons, but I'd love to know what the writers had in mind when they wrote him into the game.

Anyways, I love Rolan, Cal and Lia, maybe more than anything else in the entire game, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

WIP Game

Thoughts on V3NOM

This 1 feels very Rushed to say the least, like aside from all the cool backstory with Knull and the Symbiotes, this 1 feels the most Weaker Story wise, like Don't get me wrong it's a GOOD movie, but in my opinion, it could've been WAYY better.

Like there are so many things that I feel could've been expanded upon more if given more time, like the fact that Eddie doesn't even feel like a character anymore, instead now being a Plot device that is just meant to get “Venom” from point A to point B, to the fact that shit that feels like it's gonna go somewhere DOESN'T, to even the fact that Knull, THE MAIN VILLAIN OF THE MOVIE, doesn't even FEEL like a looming threat, which is really BAFFLING in my opinion; I haven't read King in Black o I don't  really know that much about him but if you tell  me that he's supposed to be the BE All END All type of Villain, than I expect to see it, like this is supposed to be the GOD of Symbiotes yet the “Scariest” thing this guy's done, is just sit in a chair Menacinly and send minions the entire movie. (I guess bro took a page out thanos's book on how to NOT be Menacing) like I wanna see what exactly makes him So terrifying to begin with. 

Another thing that bothered me is how WASTED everything feels, like this is supposed to be the FINAL Movie, yet things don't feel fulfilled or resolved, so many questions are lingering still, Eddie's relationship with Anne hasn't gotten better, in fact she feels like an Afterthought at this point, and characters and Plot points that feel like their going to have a Major impact, DON'T. Oh and does even get me STARTED on how the Symbiotes were handled in this movie, like here I was, ready to get excited to see Lasher, Toxin, and  the other Symbiotes make their Debut and hopefully kick some ass, and they all get Effing WASHED like yesterday's laundry, LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL F%*K Sony!? Also how you gonna give us effing Agony before SCREAM, the better female and better looking Symbiote in my opinion.

And another thing, im sorry but am I the only 1 that seems to remember that the Symbiotes have the ability to make clothes, like there's a scene in the Trailer where Eddie's wearing a Black tux and i originally thought that this was their way of showing that the Symbiote made him clothes, which isn't really seen that much,other than a few cartoons incorporating it along the Insomniac Spiderman games, and I thought this would be the PERFECT opportunity for that, but No, instead it was just cuz venom knocked a dude out and Jacked him of his clothes, which IS funny but C'MON!

1 thing I absolutely Loved tho about this movie was how they Humanized The Symbiotes, like they actually feel like peaceful creatures who are just trying to look for a New home, and people tend to forget about that, like aside from OG Venom and Carnage the Symbiotes aren't really all that Evil, they're just misunderstood and I'm really glad Sony chose to focus on that, So ya earn a Gold star there Sony, however, I just wish they had more time to flesh out the Symbiotes because aside from venom, they LITERALLY almost all feel and act the same, Maybe if they had more personality I'd like them more but so far, they literally either all SOUND the same, or ACT the same, and that's kinda sucky considering each Symbiote in the comics Has their own personality, like Venom is a goofball who only really is Evil because of his Hatred towards Spiderman, other than that he's just a chocolate loving monster who loves surf the Web and Apparently Sing Strangers in Night, Meanwhile Carnage on ther hand is a PSYCHOPATHIC killer, who ENJOYS what he does, he enjoys KILLING just because he can, and it really shows if ya read Absolute Carnage; I didn't really enjoy how they handled Carnage in Venom 2 mainly because I'm So used to Carnage acting a certain way and because I mainly know Carnage through the original spider man Ps1 game and through the Original Spider man 90s animated show, but it was better than nothing I guess. ^^; (Still, I just WISH he didn't SOUND like that, because I'm sorry that's NOT Carnage)

The last 2 movies felt more like HOMAGES to whatever came before, mainly 90s stuff from Lethal Protector, to Maximum Carnage, all the way to the Life foundation, they all just really felt like something you'd probably see back then in the early to mid 2000s, just some fun movies to watch with Simple direction, and Ok Storytelling, you MAY not get it, but you'd STILL enjoy it, THIS ONE however, felt more like it was trying to be more modern, and trying to setup too many things as possible, while also leaving you kinda *Disappointed* to say?  I don't know it just felt like it was missing something and I don't really like that because while the last 2 movies felt complete and actually did resolve things, this 1 just felt more like that 1 spongebob scene in the lost episode, where patchy just looks at the Tv and says “That's it?” It feels like uh like a Hollow shell compared to the last ones. That isn't to say it's a BAD movie, it's just not a FULFILLING one, it feels like there's more left, especially with that Shadowy figure we kept seeing talk to general Strickland the entire movie, and we might Never see what that more left was, considering this is the LAST movie. If I had to Rank these films,  it would be in the most Bland and usual way possible,  with Venom 1 being in 1st place, Venom 2 being in 2nd place, Venom3 being in 3rd place, all movies are GOOD, it's just that this 1 feels the most Weaker compared to the others; But anyway that's just what I think, what about You, did you enjoy Venom the Last dance, or were you Disappointed ?

Perianth because years, years ago, when I was a little school kid, we learned about the build of flowers. My teacher said something like:

It was rent-free in my head until now. Plants somehow always were an important part of my OCs until... I remember? So Perianth.

Ah fuck I've done it again

Amalgam AI AU

I've seen some AUs about the humans being AI instead of Caine and I thought that might be the simplest way to get this monstrosity to happen with a massive glitch without abstraction playing a part.

I think I just really like horror AUs and doing stuff like that is just so fun so I made another one with a better title than "Horror House" cuz c'mon what the hell does that mean lol

The only characters I don't have designed currently are Zooble, Caine, and Bubble but I'll add them soon. Caine will be a human, Bubble could be something to help him out and what not.

Inspired by AUs like Sm-baby's and The Horror Circus AU, but like, different ofc.

Think this: the game wasn't originally supposed to be a horror game, just a game you go through for fun. Like Undertale, I guess? But not quite

[WARNINGS: LOTS OF EYES/ARACHNID IMAGERY, BODY HORROR, EYESTRAIN]

So first and foremost, I think people would wanna see Pomni, though Jax was the first to be designed.

Pomni is supposed to be some sort of anti-virus or some sort of protecting thing. Supposed to fix bugs and glitches and prevent viruses from getting into the game. Like a firewall, I guess? I tried to make her look like "right/wrong" esc thing. She was the last to be designed and it was like 1 am when I designed her. I had no clue what to do with her, I'll be completely honest.

Story wise, she'd be trying to find a way to undo this massive glitch and get the game back to normal before she can even rest. Once Caine pops up to try and fix the game from inside, as a dev himself, she does her best to protect him and help him fix the game.

No there is no shipping in this AU, they're just helping each other basically survive. They might become friends over time but nothing more. :V

Next up: Ragatha and Gangle! I actually really like Gangle's design but Ragatha definitely needs a few tweaks I think.

Ragatha, before this massive glitch, would have been an NPC that would help a player out at the start but end up getting lost after a certain point, like a tutorial. She was the most caring character in the game before everything went down.

Gangle used to be someone who ran a little theatre thing in the game, as I've seen from other AUs and took inspiration from, but she's usually nice no matter what mask she has on. More arms means she can help more people at once, right? Game mechanics wise she was like a little shop keeper for costumes if they're needed and she can help with newer mechanics on stage if something new is added. Friendly NPC, you know? Love her design, too!

Now for the first two to be designed, Jax and Kinger!!

So Jax was like a reoccurring villain, I guess. Always trying to make the player quit the game or just scare the shit out of them, despite him not being very scary himself. He's more played off to be a joke character, if I'm honest, always failing with his antics and what not. It's part of the code! I actually like his design, small lil paws and just so shapey over all.

Kinger was like a final boss, I guess? The scariest of all of them at that time. He was a king, ruling over his pawns and such, all of which were also bug themed! I love making Kinger bug related it's so fun. He's a big softie in reality but hits like a train if you ever went against him. He had terrible vision despite all of his eyes and was very slow despite the amount of legs.

Now for what everyone has been waiting for.

The reason for the AU title.

The MASSIVE glitch that caused everything to go downhill.

The Amalgam.

I still think it needs a few tweaks here and there but this is one of four concepts I've had for it.

One time all four of these characters were together, which was relatively rare but possible, a glitch happened in the game. Pomni doesn't know where it started from and none of the game devs understand how it happened, but it did. Some devs think there's a hacker. A massive glitch pulled those four characters together into one terrifying being, always hostile and destructive. All the code of the characters were merged into this thing and somewhat scrambled. The game has now been broken to where once you're in, you can't escape until it's fixed, yet no one knows it, which is why Caine went in.

So much has happened and it's still being fixed, but a hostile blob of characters constantly attacking whenever it's near? It will be hard to fix.

It seems to be guarding something.

You can see in the first one I was going to put Zooble there but I still need a good design for Zooble. Let's see what they'll be.

More about Scratch

Scratch is my original yandere x reader story that was started in 2022 and as of a few days ago has a whopping nine chapters :'). (I'm trying, I really am)

Well the basic expectations are yandere chase, darling run. And sometimes yanderes look down on yanderes who don't chase, and pretty much all darlings look down on darlings who don't run. Like if there's a yandere darling couple where the darling seems genuinely happy in the relationship, they will be heavily judged by other darlings. Outside of San Valentine, yandere behavior (stalking, kidnapping, murder, etc) is outlawed, just like in the real world. But in San Valentin, yanderes can do whatever they deem necessary to get their darling. The only thing they absolutely cannot do is murder darlings. Other yanderes are fair game.

Ive had an idea for a different fic that takes place in the same world setting, but I haven't posted it cuz it wouldn't be a yandere x reader it'd be a darling x darling. But it would mostly take place outside of San Valentine, so you'd get to see more of how the system works in this world. The majority of the world are darlings, and they are afraid of yanderes because... they're yanderes. Yans have to hide their identities both out of and in San Valentin. Out because if they're discovered they'll be sent to San Valentin and some yans don't want that, and in because darlings will avoid them if they know they're yandere.

Being yandere is definitely viewed as a bad thing by most people. Some people are sympathetic, while others are afraid or even disgusted.

San Valentin is definitely not a tourism spot lmao, people–especially darlings–avoid that place like the Plague. It's basically a high security prison but a city. And it is incredibly difficult to get in or out without clearance.

The priority question is a really good question cuz I had to reflect on it lol. Technically my priority is just writing it and publishing it lmao. I'm happy when I can get a chapter out at all. But my priority has always been establishing characters and relationships, because once we get into the real meat of the story, things are going to get very uh... danganronpa? I think? I'm not familiar with the series but from what I do know, it's gonna be like that lol. You never know who you can trust in San Valentin.

Im upset because I can't remember the title of my main inspiration!!! There was this story on Quotev that had a city of yanderes. I cant remember if that was a fic where yanderes were like an established entity? I'm really into the idea of yandere and darling as like... an established thing within a world setting. A great example of what I'm talking about is the yandere school series from @ozzgin (cw for NSFW content on that account be warned). But there was a city that was known for having a lot of dangerous/obsessive people, I just can't remember if they called them yandere. So Scratch is kinda me taking the idea of a city of yandere and adding established yandere society to it? But again I can't remember the name of the initial fic :(((( if I find it I will update this post with a link!!

A small rant about Natlan (genshin).

First of all why are these character designs so boring and ugly I stg the human enemies look better and more interesting. These characters all look like Pokemon trainers (also why is everybody white). I already talked about the archon who looks like shit so I won't even get into that but in general none of these characters seem interesting to me, their gameplay included.

Why does that one Minecraft guy have a pixel video game character sidekick, what is this? Did they confuse genshin and hsr? He doesn't fit into this game but tbh almost nothing in Natlan does.

The land is so empty and boring it's just green with tall mountains, very repetitive and there's almost nothing to do, there's very little chests and the puzzles.... I can't even think of any which tells u enough. I personally dislike the weird pokemon mechanic, they are v slow and horrible to control there's no use for them other than the few specific things they're made for which isn't great either.

The archon quest was v boring imo, the entire act 1 felt like filler but it was better than whatever the hell happened in the second one. Kachina at least got some kind of arc but it was thrown out of the window by the end anyway. Why are you giving characters trauma just to ignore it after 2 minutes. Also why is no one in game mentioning how weird it is to send literal children to war? That was so confusing to me. This and Mulani using power of friendship to defeat a bad guy, when he showed up I thought we might finally get something exciting going on but nah gone after 30 seconds. There is some promise for the story I guess but tbh I don't rly like a single character, Kachina is fine and the rest of them are bland at most, the archon is even more lame and disappointing than I expected like there's no conflict around her or with her, she's just nice and cooperative and her people love her - that's so fucking boring why should I care for someone who's personality is "nice" and there's nothing to it.

The only fun thing was capitano kicking Mauvika cuz it make me laugh. NGL I wish he ended up killing her just so we could get some original storyline that's actually interesting and would't make me wish there was a skip button. (Obviously that'd never happen but it's an interesting idea)

Ngl I'm not invested at all, I did a few quests for the tribes and these weren't much better. This is the worst region yet in my opinion. I highly doubt they'll change my mind but who knows, I ended up liking Furina by the end of Fontaine so maybe we'll get a miracle. Highly doubt it tho

Wolf Creek 2 script... analysis thingo

Warning, this is gonna contain spoilers for the TV series, and the movie, and the books, and what all have you. So read at your own discretion.

Also I'm gonna hang a bit of shit on Greg McLean in this in the typical friendly Aussie ribbing fashion. Yeah yeah I know Aaron Sterns also co-wrote the script, but between Greg, and Aaron (who also co-wrote Origins), and Brett McBean (who co-wrote Desolation Game), the only common denominator between the movies, the telly series, and the books is Greg. So you're the one copping shit, mate.

Also this is gonna be bloody long and will probably take a day or so for me to finish going through, so check the reblogs ay.

I wrote up a whole thing about this and then it got deleted cuz I closed the tab so I'm kinda pissed about that but anyway-

This number is actually closer to 38,000 average per year, but 98% of missing people in Australia are found in the first three months--these are "short term missing persons". Long-term missing persons are much rarer.

Additionally this number is massively skewed. These aren't people just disappearing into the outback. Also at one point in this scene Greg calls a windscreen "windshield". There's something in M-lbourne's water. I'm not gonna keep screencapping mistakes like that but I will keep bitching about them. He misspells "metres" too as "meters".

I'm glad we have this moment in the show, when he tells the Kiwi--forget his name, soz mate--to dig. And then starts monologuing to him about how much he hates Kiwis (funny callback to Cutter from Origins--aw, Mick, look who still holds a grudge). But I'll be arsed if this isn't a great sequence, and I'm slightly bummed we didn't get it.

Hi! I'm stray or otherwise known as Harmony, Glitch and some other things. I don't mind sharing my real name since its in one of my tags plus one of my username, ya just have to find it.

I do a lot of things, currently in my freshman year of highschool, in speech and debate, play video games like Cult of the lamb, genshin impact, Tokyo debunker, twisted wonderland and other RPG's.

The vortex of rosetellia is for my fantasy world known as Rosetellia, I have a Google doc for basic information on it on that blog so go check it out if your interested! So about my OCS. You'll see that I have some of my OCS for other things like the bug army in @obsidian-lantern 's universe of gator boys. But he also pops up in rosetellia as a different person. This is because I have this thing where I make all of my OCS originally be from or created in rosetellia. The other versions I use for other universes like rpg games and such are there because I like to be confusing. So if you see OCS pop up again and again, be sure to check the tags for it!

I trace poses, if it's my own sketches or cats, or other real life things that I took a picture of myself it doesn't count to me so don't get mad. Although if it's a picture that's real and from pinterest or something similar, I might use it to get my poses down and outfits cuz I'm only under 18 and I don't feel confident in doing that yet. if you have any art tips I'd love to know em!!!!

Anyway, I know this is a lot of word vomit but it's important to me, for all of you to know so please be sure to know that.

Watched the Bob Marley movie and it just switched a thing in my brain about my Jamaican heritage and made me go into over drive as well as rewatching Rio.

Somewhat going back and forth on regular animals versions or anthro cuz I kinda want them to have weapons like swords and armor but it works either way.

Mostly trying to go for birds only found in jamaica but I'm not too picky.

It’s fun to work on how the different types of birds from the islands are as a culture and towards each other, obvs planning a conlang.

The plot itself is up in the air, got a short stories/slice of game of thrones life currently.

I specifically have a cuckoo character in mind who I'm losing my mind over. Like a character based solely on motherhood isn't great but this is a cuckoo, it goes against her very nature which is what makes it interesting.

Though keep in mind, I have never read/watched guardians of ga’hoole so if I say anything similar to it, it’s not on purpose.

Song is everything to most species. Combat engages with song, its not a sport (for most), its an art and to disrespect is like turning your back on the rising sun.

A good majority worship the rising sun and their language and culture definitely reflects that in some cases.

Here's a few:

Hummingirds (Jamaican Mango, red/black-billed streamertail): what they lack in size, they make up for in attitude. They live in empires compared to the usual kingdoms or coalitions that the other species have. The jamican mango in particular often find themselves overseeing other species districts alongside Cuckoos.

Parrots (Yellow/Black-tipped parrot): the most common, everywhere and everywhere. Chatty and petty as hell. Paired on with humming birds when it comes to involving themselves in politics. They're networking is only outdone with the Crows.

Pigeons (crested quail-dove and Ring-tailed pigeon): the workhorse of the species so to speak. They're everywhere, doing all sorts of odd jobs and mercenary work. General middle class.

Cuckoos (Chestnut-bellied and Jamaican-lizard): tricksters of flight with their unorthidox and downright horrid parenting (read: lack-thereof). Groups of nomadic females spotted make a game with surrounding bird groups of combat which they win majority of the time and get to dump their eggs. Many know its better to just deal with the additional egg and most of the time get to keep their original clutch if they play nice. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Involved in polities more than most think they are.

Corvid (Jamaican Crow): referred to as the warlocks of the islands for their practices with the spirits and their emphasis on traditions and ceremonies. If there's ever a species to not cross, it's them. At the fore front in politics and typically either have simple murders or kingdoms.

Haii splish splash helloooo hoiii hiii :33 uh don't mind this ig i just wanna put this here for fun or something since i like the not so original [at all] idea of the world of sky being more like sky: children of the dark instead of light like an apocalypse of the sorts for funsies [unoriginal as in I'm 100% not the first time come up with it at all and got like some ideas from looking at the game's concept arts for like 2 minutes]!! I even wrote like an entire not so good just basically very mid poem rhyming thing abt it cuz why nottttt rhymes are amazeballs. Our kingdom was filled with light and love, but wrath and rage transcended the eye above.

The clouds were painted in a hue so red, and from the sky, divine blood had seemed to bled.

Our lands were plauged with horror and screams, our souls faced the imminent doom of no redeem.

The soils had turned from green to black, beings of light sealed away, never to come back.

✦　There are many packs of corrupted sky kids & spirits on the outskirts 〘 especially in the water〙

✦　It's Dark; The clouds & temple 〘 Mostly the clouds〙block the sky, but even if they didn't, the sky would always be dark anyways〘the time of day in the isle only switches from dusk and the dead of night〙

✦　There are quite a few crabs 〘 different types of crabs aswell instead of just the 1–2 usual ones in the actual game〙but there aren't any 〘living〙 krills anywhere in the isle 〘any krills that were there are nothing but piles of dust, bones or remnants of the past, frozen in time and in place by a force not to be reckoned with〙

✦　“Home” is set up inside Prophecy cave and sealed off to corrupted creatures that try to enter be 〘 very〙 powerful magic. 〘 woulda been forbidden in the previous era due to how unsafe it is to cast let alone set eyes upon〙 All the skids are lucky nothing bad happened…

✦　Corrupted spirits in the isle are normally statues that slowly move when you're not looking & try to corrupt you/freeze you in place/sink you under the sand. 〘 but this only applies to some statues, not all of them do this〙However, Some statues can be re-frozen if you shift them into a certain position.

✦　Sand dunes rose & became caves/dead ends/dens for corrupted skids, also known as packs or “the hunt/hunters”, though they are quite scarce in numbers since most of them have been involuntarily buried underneath dunes of sand.〘 some dunes are sentient, best be careful where you tread.〙

✦　Some large dunes/dark water have/has small, turquoise dots in them 〘 they're referred to as “the lens”〙that stare are you as you pass by them but you can't/shouldn't look at them directly for too long or else they'll cause you to freeze in place due to inducing high levels fear/paranoia/panick at the same time.〘despite the fact that there's nothing major to ge scared of most of the time〙A black hand usually stretches out of the dark mud/water 〘 we'll call it murk for simplicity〙or a hole in a large dune from where “the lens” is and geabs you before dragging you into where the hand came from unless you are moved out the way in time 〘there is little to no chance of return after dragged away and in〙

✦　The outskirts of isle is mainly dark water sky kids normally can't swim in unless they're specially equipped/prepared to do so.

✦　The path to Daylight Prairie Nightmare Lowland is a sea of low, dark water teeming with with packs of slumbering hunters in which a boat is needed to cross.

✦　The isle elder, instead of welcoming you, tries to prevent you from entering their temple and tries to get you to leave by commanding “the hunt” & dunes to attack you, barricading any exits with solid sand and walls. They are referred to as “The Despair”.

9. Tellius

I am going to get crucified for this take but I don't care. I hate the story of Tellius. Nothing about it interests me. FE9/10 is the first time in the series where I was actually endeared to a grand total of 0 members of the cast. I seriously don't know what else to say. Like I don't think I would feel this strongly about Tellius if it wasn't praised as the best this series has to offer. I would genuinely just see it as a mediocre story with decent world building and forgettable characters.

Also if you do like Tellius, I am very happy that you could connect with something I couldn't. I mean that, the fact that people like something you don't should be a good thing. Most of the time. To be perfectly honest I am very picky and snarky when it comes to fantasy media because I dislike when people use simplistic metaphors for complex real-world issues.

However, I know that there are people who like simpler fantasy with more clear metaphors. It exists for a reason. There's an audience for Tellius 100%, but that audience is not me.

8. Valentia

So. What can I say I like about the Valentian cast? I like Sonya. That's about it? Yeah... I think FE15 does a good job breathing life into these characters but the problem is that more-so than any other game, this cast is riddled with misogyny. I won't get into it in this post because it's a very layered issue, but out of every original playable female character, only one of them is independent and doesn't marry, she gets turned into a witch in her epilogue. Sonya deserved better.

7. Archanea

Archanea characters don't have personalities but they get to be higher then Valentia and Tellius solely because they don't annoy me as much. I can point out what I don't like with the other casts. Like, I don't like that Danved is the only black character in the franchise and he looks like that. I don't like that Shinon doesn't really have a reason to be an asshole other than he's just an asshole. I don't like how Leon is one of the only gay characters in the series and he falls in love with a straight man. I could go on. What can I say about Archanea though? Nothing really. There's nothing there to like or dislike about the characters. They just exist to exist, and they exist to be cannon fodder. That's really it.

Tiki is neat though.

6. Ylisse & Valm

Ah yes, the game where every playable character has an annoying gimmick. Listen, say what you want about Awakening's cast, at the very least they're all memorable. I have an opinion on most of the Shepards. In theory, it works. Everyone can make an impression on the player, and it can make you want to learn more about them just from a line with a lot of personality. In execution it's just really annoying. However, I still find myself liking quite of few of them. The children especially, probably because their gimmicks are more subdued half the time.

5. Nohr/Hoshido

Same thing as Awakening. Most of them have an annoying gimmick. Keyword: MOST. I think it's way worse with the kids, which was a much, MUCH better call. If I had to spend time with the pickle guy in the main story, I would just drop Fates entirely. I'm being so serious.

4. Fódlan

Three Houses has the best written cast. It also has the most written cast. You could say the non-lords have gimmicks and I'd agree, however because the way it's set up those gimmicks aren't on full display in every one of their non-support lines. They aren't annoying because they're written like people, ya' know? Think of your acquaintances, you probably only know one thing about them. Hilda is lazy, Caspar is brash, Marianne is self-deprecating, Ashe is nice, etc. However just because you don't know them very well doesn't mean that's all they are, it's a big part of who they are but it not always on display. Three Houses does a really good with its cast in that regard and I think that's why so many people gravitated towards that game in particular, you really are getting to know your students and are beginning to care about them. Three Hopes does worse with this but it's a spin-off. What did you expect?

3. Jugdral

I think I've cemented myself as someone who knows jack-all about Jugdral, and I honestly intend to keep it that way, (even though I know it pisses off FE4 fans and I don't like making people genuinely upset, just like haha silly upset) but. But, but, but. I DO know stuff about FE5- and my verdict is- for a game with absolutely no character writing, they really do make you care about these characters. Unless it's Kane, Alva and Robert. I'm not kidding you, I genuinely LIKE Osian, even though he has like 10 lines if that. I genuinely LIKE Tanya, even though she only has like 3 lines that aren't about her dad or her boyfriend. I fucking LOVE Mareeta, because she GETS LINES. I also love Salem, his design is rad and 'Ruining Moomin' has endeared me to ex-cult members. If any Kaga game deserved a remake with supports, it was FE5.

Also I like Tine. I know very little about her but her theme hurts my soul and what I know of her backstory upsets me in the same way Jaffar's lack of backstory upsets me and that's a good way for me to attempt to adopt a fictional character.

2. Elibe

"But it's just an Archanea rip-off! How can you like the cast of FE6 and not the cast of FE1/3/11/12?" SHUT UP. SHUT UPPPP. THAT'S THE POINT. Everything about Elibe is supposed to subvert your expectations based on what you know from previous games. Does the lords father die? Nope. Is the creepy shadowy figure lurking behind the main antagonist controlling him? Nope. Is the woman who's in love with the main antagonist in love with him because he secretly has a heart of gold? Nope. Are <blank> dragons inherently evil? Nope. Even Roy having red hair is a subversion. Red is often treated as the opposite of blue, ya' know? The cast is full of Archanea expies to make you THINK it's a rip-off. However, if you forgot, the cast of Archanea is full of damn pawns. There is nothing to rip-off other than appearance, role and a vague idea of what their personality is. The cast of FE6 isn't bland. You just haven't looked past how the early game is purposefully full of expies. I'm not apologizing for this one. If you think FE6 has a boring cast I will fight you.

For FE7, everything you could say about that cast has been said. They're incredibly strong in their own right and connects pretty well to FE6 even though the story didn't. Nino and Jaffar are my all time favorite Fire Emblem characters for a reason.

It also has a trio of preteen boys with contrasting personalities and if you've been on my main you know I have a weakness for that dynamic solely because of Ed Edd n' Eddy.

1. Magvel

Hey, look my most obvious take since the time I said "Magical Mystery Tour" is a better album then "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!"

I want to get one thing clear, it does not take much for me to like a cast. The one requirement is that every character is involved with a story for a reason, Scared Stones is the only FE game where that's done correctly. Everyone you play as has a reason to be in your army, and everyone who opposes you has a reason for that too. Even the characters that are otherwise pretty bland have a role in the story somehow, even if its very minor.

I could honestly gush about this cast till the end of time but thats boring. I'll just say that FE8 has the best axe guy duo and the best red/green cavalier duo in the franchise.

also you don't have to know anything about rdr2 for this au! it's based loosely on some of the events and dynamics of the game, but i mostly wanted to develop a cool human au :3

setting things up:

jasiri takes the role of dutch essentially. she is the leader of the "gang", as i'm gonna call it! although she was supposed to be head of the Hyena family, she and madoa rejected the town lifestyle and started their own together, the 'cowboy' life i suppose haha. their motto is something like 'Free, but Good'. their original gang (jasiri's clan in canon) has changed a bit over the years as the members slowly joined, and some died - the two of them have looked after wema and tunu together ever since their mother passed away

as the cowboy life appears pretty sketchy to most of the prideland townsfolk, jasiri and madoa started helping people wherever they could, however big or small. they gained the trust of the towns and started to move on to harsher parts, a desert called the Outlands. eventually, their smaller jobs transformed into the much bigger and more impactful goal of trying to help/see the good side of the land's notorious gangs. jasiri realised that's what she wanted overall - to help people, even if they hurt others, and hopefully change their ways. she wanted to help them live "Free but Good". obviously janja's gang was her first target....

janja's had a rough life. his mother and her infamous gang dropped off the face of the earth one day, so he and his friends were raised by mzingo's gang. seeing it as their means to survival, janja led his gang in town raids, stealing whatever they needed, even if it sometimes ended in the gang getting hurt or killing townsfolk. though it took a lotta standoffs between them, jasiri eventually got them to see eye-to-eye. she showed him how she was surviving without the need to kill innocent people, and with time they became the first gang she reformed! janja reminisces a lot about when he led his gang, but he wouldn't change his new life for anything, and he would defend his new gang till the end

mzingo and his gang followed janja's joining. it didn't take them much convincing- despite a few conflicting moral values- as it was a hard time even in the towns and they were pretty much going to starve without jasiri's help. the former Vulture gang members kinda work as spies for jasiri, specialising in being swift and able to spy from high vantage points on horseback. i'd say jasiri and mzingo have a decent friendship and work pretty well together on strategy; mzingo likes being able to put his brain to use and jasiri likes him not using his questionable strategies to kill people lol

the Jackal family were basically forced to absolute poverty. the only thing reirei and goigoi could really do to get enough for all of them was steal for money, food, travel, etc. it was the only way they thought they could survive, believing there was no help for them, and there wasn't for a while. with janja's gang- who somewhat threatened their livelihood- reformed, it was much easier for reirei and her family to take what they wanted from people, but jasiri's offer to her was pretty convincing... so after a few hard and lonely years, reirei accepts jasiri's help. she promises them food, warmth and community- kind of the only thing reirei ever wanted for herself, her husband and her children, and they get to live free too! she's just happy that her husband and children are happy, and that she can be too, even if she can have arguments with the other former gang leaders lol

kiburi's gang..... yeah they were definitely the hardest to convince. jasiri wasn't acquainted with them at all. they'd were a bit newer to the Outlands, coming there after some failed riot kicked them out of their town. but janja, mzingo and reirei knew them well. kiburi was very adamant that he didn't care for jasiri's lifestyle, that it was "too soft" for he and his gang, that they didn't want or need their help and that violence was just "what they did". jasiri had just about accepted defeat. that was until one night kiburi's gang were attacked by strangers who were too much for them, but jasiri's gang swooped in to save them, both from the attack itself and their bad wounds. if it wasn't for them, kiburi's gang would be dead. he doesn't have much of a choice but to sign off his leadership in exchange for the protection of his friends, which he decided inwardly matters more to him than being leader anyway. in joining the gang his personality doesn't change much from the outside, but you spend a little time with him and you realise he's a good guy beneath it all

the same sorta thing went for ushari and the Skinks. ushari grew up in the stuffy towns and he liked it well enough when he was left alone, but he just kept getting disrespected by people. it only took a few months for him to snap, and then it was him who was disrespecting by plotting against the different towns in the lands. his plans were pretty genius, especially with his acquaintances shupavu, njano and their gang called the Skinks, who just so happened to be the best spies in the lands. despite their lack of brawn and being far from well-off, together their plans were dangerous and could cause lots of townsfolk casualties. people also just kept getting tricked and robbed by the skinks. no one wanted anything to do with them, ushari, or anyone associated with them (ahem, kenge and sumu, ahem ahem)

there was a massive, brutal shootout between the Prideland townsfolk and the Outland gangs before they reformed. jasiri tried to stop it and reason with the gangs, but all hell broke loose as everyone started shooting. ushari was shot as jasiri was talking to him. he was genuinely considering being the first to join her side, as she'd shown him genuine kindness like no one else, but it ended in the shootout (you can guess who shot ushari. i am glaring at you bunga). jasiri and her gang tried everything but the wound was untreatable :( the guilt weighs on jasiri's shoulders as well as the skinks. initially they tried saving ushari themselves- finally putting someone else over being in a fight- but were surprised and inwardly thankful that jasiri tried so hard to save him, even if it was futile

after the shootout and ushari's death, shupavu's gang spent a few weeks aimlessly wandering, realising that stealing wasn't so fun or as easy now that ushari was gone. they kinda awkwardly shuffled into jasiri's gang when she next came to see em. they found it really hard to fit in or do 'good'. like most of them, they joined because they kinda had no choice but to. eventually they find their place, especially when kenge and sumu join

only ushari and the skinks knew, but kenge and sumu were at that shootout too. they went because ushari, shupavu and njano told them about it and What Else You Gonna Do In The Wild West lmao. it was pretty tragic when they found out ushari died, they didn't know bc they were caught up in the shootout and weren't really on the main scene until the shooting started. realistically they probably caused the most carnage; kenge is insane and sumu is a sniper. they left once it was all over, expecting to hear from their acquaintances, but shupavu and njano had to break the news to em. they were also completely unaware that the skink gang joined jasiri

almost forgot to talk about their history! sumu doesn't come from the pridelands/outlands, he travelled a long way bc he pretty much worked as a hitman sniper for criminals who wanted townsfolk killed. he wouldn't stay long in each place to avoid getting caught by law, but he stuck around the outlands because ushari was a cool guy he actually made friends with, and kenge too. in kenge's case, he's that guy who could like. crack your skull if he wanted to. he's really antagonistic and has been in loads of bar fights before being run out of towns, but they could never kill him because he's too good of a fighter and too strong. i guess like rasputin without the lust lmfao??

but yes! kenge and sumu were eventually convinced to join the gang when jasiri finally met them, in her eyes she saw another two misunderstood individuals on the wrong path and managed to reach out to them. she probably called them "friends" and that was the first time they'd ever heard any stranger be that kind to them. both of em were definitely the most uncertain and antsy about being in the gang, as they'd lived solitary before, but no one was really going to bother or push them. sumu's the almost-silent one who has cleaned up a mess before you even notice there was one (perks of being a sniper) and kenge's the guy ordering the best drinks for the camp (perks of being a former bar fighter)

speaking of what everyone does in the gang, i will be talking about that in a follow up post 👀 because i didn't realise how long this was!!!

i have loved building this au!! :3 there might be a few tweaks along the way as i try to find a good balance between the outlanders being from a kids show and the brutality of rdr2 lol. i think i'm starting to develop a story i like tho, just going to flesh out important events as i go along :)
