✨debbies certified (not) fic reccer guideline✨

1. find the fic

i know this sounds basic as fuck but listen. i have read a LOT. of fics, and unless it like really affected me or is currently updating, theres a chance ill forget the name. not a slight to fic, my adhd brain just be like that. now youve already found the fic so youre set! but for me, finding it entails looking through my pages upon pages of ao3 bookmarks (not like. actual bookmarks, like fucking chrome bookmarks yk)

2. check if the author has a tumblr

this is just a matter of preference but i want the author to know when i add them to reccs, so i scour (okay maybe i didnt scour as much near the beginning (never getting over how i completely missed @scungilli's tumblr)) their ao3 profile, fic desc,  or just straight up ask them if they have a tumblr

3. give your opinions

obviously im not asking for a play-by-play reaction (do you know long my already long radioapple fic recs would be??), just give a short, honest description of what the reader should expect and your thoughts on the fic. i mean, you probably have a reason for wanting to recommend it

4. gather a collection

if you want to just rec that work, thats totally fine! youre already doing that by sending this ask. buy, if youre so inclined, you could also rec any similar fics youve read in the same post

5. hit post!

now personally i have been adding fic stats (word count, last updated, next update) but that is totally a me thing and actually part of the reason the next radioapple fic recs is taking so long (it will come! trust!) so at this point just post that sucker!

The one and only @highlordofkrypton . We’ve been friends since the trenches days (elaingate). I’m so very grateful for having met her this year 😙🫶.

2. Who is your newest fandom friend?

I fear I made a hand full of friends a few months ago and nothing else. To be fair I’m not the type to just jump in people dms and try to be friends because I am actually very shy ( shocking ik).

3.What were the highlights of your year?

Lots of fun things happened this year!! Started a new year of uni with my bsf, made this acc and met so many lovely ppl, STARTED WRITING ?? Like I’m actually a writer now after spending so many years consuming fics. That’s probably the most bizarre thing to happen this year. Me from a year ago would lose her mind if she found out just how different our life/ we are today.

4. Do you have favourite artists in the fandom?

So many talented people in this fandom and just to name a few, @thrumbolt @copypastus @works-of-heart @rosesncarnations @geniemillies

5. Who is a mutual you think you reblog the most from?

@gwandas OG cassian hater in my eyes, never a bad take. I probably have everything she’s ever posted reblogged.

6.Do you have a memorable moment in the fandom that warms your heart?

Am I allowed to say elaingate bc I totally am. Despite all the drama, all the memes were so good and I had too much fun making dumb posts about tamberon.

And this is very random, but when the fated mates quiz got added on sjm’s website and everybody just ran to do it and shared their results. I’d only been on tumblr for like two months back then and that was the first time it hit me that I was actually apart of this community and just how much I loved it.

7. Is there a mutual you've always wanted to DM but were too shy to? hehe

I will admit nothing 🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️. ( but yes there’s many, many, mutuals Id love to DM and be friends with.)

8. In the last questionnaire, you mentioned you would be posting your favourite fic that you have written. Which is it?

Omgee your remembered 🤭. I think when I said that I was referring to a lucienweek fic I was working on which is End of Beginning.

9. Do you have a fic of yours that you love, but wished it got more attention?

Gonna be real, I don’t check my stats anymore. It’s just too detrimental to my sanity and I’m sensitive lol. I find it easier to write when the numbers and disappointment isn’t clouding my head. But I’ll promote my new fic ( Am I making you feel sick?) bc I’m very proud of it 😙.

11. I forgot to ask: Did you want a Tamcien gift? Or did you have other ships in mind?

My main ship was tamcien! But I do enjoy other ships like tamsand/azris/nezriel.

I’m ngl I’ve always been more of a one shot reader and that’s very much bled into my writing. I mainly write one shots because it’s what I enjoy reading most. Reading multichapter fics takes a lot of investment from me and I’m not always looking for a whole convoluted plot-filled fic to read. I feel like I’m the odd one out when it comes to this bc ppl love 100k+ fics and that’s just never been me lol 😅. So to actually answer your question lol , I’d say a longer one shot or a short multi chapter fic but I’m gonna eat up wtv you write anyways trust and believe.

13. After all this time, do you still trust me to take you on an adventure with your gift? hihi

I literally trust you with my life. The suspense is killing I can’t wait 😫!!

14.What is your 'Tamcien song'?

Oh this is my favorite question to be asked. Lots of mitski song options but for me it’s “I Don’t Smoke”. This song fully spiraled my tamcien insanity back in february. I blame it for everything.

15. Aside from Tamlin and Lucien, who are your favourite characters in ACOTAR?

Nesta and eris !! Also azriel but we don’t talk about that.

16. Who do you think is underrated in ACOTAR?

Jurian, starter of the sassy men apocalypse 500 years ago 🙏.

I’d erase all of Feyre’s development and remake it from scratch. So many interesting ways her character could’ve gone but instead look at what we got lol.

Cassian. Yes I dislike him more than rhys. Atleast rhys shows up serving something, cassian’s just plain dumb and annoying. #cassianhaterforlife

Oh god I have no idea, I totally trust what you’re doing especially after reading your ficlets. I do have a feeling it’ll be something atleast a little smutty, maybe angsty. Solstice themed?? You’re gonna hurt my feelings that’s for sure. I have no clue further than that ( unless you wanna drop some hints since the gift is done 👀).

21. What is your least favourite trope?

Miscommunication. I get that’s it’s a common thing IRL but it irks me beyond belief when a huge plot problem could be solved by a literal conversation. Like just no. Also anything pregnancy/children related. No I don’t want to see my fav ship having kids and that’s me totally projecting my own shit what about it. It’s just not what I enjoy yk.
