Danny can no longer Go Ghost. Oh his powers work perfectly fine, but whenever he tries to transform, it seems as if the universe itself is screaming and begging him to not transform

So he goes to Clockwork who explains that Phantom has simply grown too powerful and that Danny simply needs to empower someone to act in his stead like an avatar

Unfortunately, Danny can't really choose anyone he knows. Tucker is not responsible with powers and the less is said about an empowered Sam, the better

It'd be absolutely hilarious if the avatar gets selected via a tournament arc. I imagine it wasn't Danny's idea but he was taking too long since he didn't want to burden anyone with this responsibility leading to the Observants deciding they'll take care of it. Cue all of Earth's heroes being summoned to an arena and told to fight until a victor is crowned. Really? This again? They all collectively groan. Meanwhile Danny is blissfully unaware of what's going on as he's back at the Clocktower trying to figure out the best candidate (the Observants thought they'd gain favor if they just surprised him with a new avatar).

I'm not honestly too sure how the tournament itself would turn out. Maybe the heroes would go along with it until they could figure out just what the reason for the tournament is this time. Maybe they would immediately jump to revolt. Punch first, ask questions later and all that. I could go either way to be honest.

All I really want is for the heroes to bust down the door and confront Danny about this whole tournament, ready to take down another crazy in power, only for this painful sleep deprived child to blink up at them, "What tournament?"

god Arcane S2 is so good. I love not knowing any of the source material, because I'm just consuming the story as it is - with absolutely exquisite visuals and beautifully orchestrated emotional arcs. The ending had me legit crying and loved every moment of it.

Tuff Guys try SO hard to be all "we're not a team" and "we'll be together when it's convenient" and "it's really everyone by themselves" but then they'll have a collective mace that goes around, and they'll help each other get kills even when it's hopeless, and they turned all their attention into helping each other when one of them went under green, and they still have team meetings every start of session, and they still decided to pool their resources, and they still have a collective calling card, and in the beginning of session 7 Bdubs still says, "I know what I want, Tango knows what he wants, now what do you want?" and it's framed as a question about kills but it's not, not really, and Etho still doesn't really answer.

They say they're not a team, but they still call Etho a traitor as though you can betray something that apparently doesn't exist. They say they don't care, but Tango still tells Ren "Not gonna lie, I was going to get kinda sad that Bdubs was trying to kill me, but it's just you." (paraphrased, but still). There's that part when Tango and Bdubs are talking and they both come to the conclusion Tango can't trust him, and the thing is, Bdubs could have lied. He could have said sure you can, but he knows Tango knows because they know each other enough, because they've been a team enough times, because they are a team and that's what he'd've done.

Tuff Guys went into the alliance fully vocal about how it wouldn't work. This never leads good places for them. They're doing it anyway. They'll never admit it, not directly, not loud and clear, because it's hurt them enough times as is, but they still live next to each other and they still coordinated team attacks in session 7 and they still haven't committed to real distrust among them

All this to say that denial is a river and egypt and by god they are DIVING

I feel like short people (especially women) are underrepresented in whump and I think there's a lot of dynamics to play with there

A short Whumper being able to put a full force blow straight into Whumpee's gut/kidneys just to watch them crumple

A more defiant Whumpee being able to resist Whumper better, not letting themselves be thrown around. But this only results in what happens when a Whumper has a chance to get creative.

A small Whumpee terrified by how easily Whumper can restrain them. They are powerless here, how could they not be? They're so tiny and insignificant.

A short Whumpee having things she wants placed too high for her to reach. Whumper only has to reach up and grab it, but it will always be out of range for Whumpee.

A Whumpee being baby talked because they're so small and so cute. Their emotions being taken as jokes by Whumper(s) because they're "so grumpy" but it never being taken as serious

A smaller Caretaker struggling to help Whumpee walk/move, simply unable to bear the load. They have to stay more stationary, or at least wait for somebody else to help.

Just smaller characters in whump. Feeling small can do a number to how someone acts and holds themselves
