Either this can be intergrated into an AU or just a scenario but
How do you think people find out about Vertin's scar? The only possible person to know is likely Madam Z, Tooth Fairy and Constantine. Maybe Matilda, Sonetto and Mesmer might have seen it when they were kids but idk.
(The only person we can definitely say is Arcana and Schneider so far)
What would be the reaction to said scar if anyone realises this is probably Vertin being experimented on? (We honestly still no nothing so this is just headcanon ideas so have fun!)
Oh don't worry, I will have fun 😈/silly
Mmmm, quite interesting though. I hadn't thought about it.
Tooth Fairy definitely knows about the scar and has been wondering about it ever since. She's her doctor so every time she had to do a check up on Vertin because she felt "sick" (excuse) she could see that weird shaped scar.
She has asked Vertin about it but she gets no response other than "I don't know"
She doesn't know or suspect it's because of an experiment, but she does know Vertin is quite a unique child. She stopped asking after a while but still makes sure it's just a scar every time she checks, even now when Vertin is 16
Madam Z also knows, mostly because Tooth Fairy went to ask her about the scar and then she went to check herself.
She is the one persisting more about that scar with Constantine and the others, she still gets no response from them. She has her suspicion on them but Vertin doesn't seem to be in a bad health and is pretty healthy.
It's not a big issue per say, a weird scar on her forehead, no one pays mind to it so she has to stay quiet.
As for how they'd react if it turned out to be an experiment, it would be quite mixed.
Sonetto would be terrified and shocked, she would try to get answers from Constantine but gets none. It's scary to think that the foundation you gave your life to has been experimenting on children.
Though she wouldn't leave or question her loyalty, she would be more appalled to work with them and would stick if Vertin more.
Matilda is another case of being unable to do anything. She's not as loyal to the foundation as Sonetto but she's still held high, she can't just do something against them.
She's terrified and keeps thinking of all those opportunities they had to experiment on her. She's the youngest to graduate from the SPDM so she has seen the teachers be more weird towards her.
She can do something though, she can make sure that no one else suffers through the same by keeping watch on the SPDM children. That's her role.
Mesmer probably already knows. Listen, she's being manipulated by Constantine into acting like a Mesmer, she knows at least something. She doesn't really want to do anything to Vertin so she doesn't participate but she has seen some things.
Now, Madam Z is livid. She's been discussing politically about the moral of this experiment and has made a couple rules to stop it that are yet to be accepted.
Much like in Chapter 4, she tries to get the others to accept these rules in order to stop the experiment. Since this is such huge news, of course many departments end up taking Z's side.
I think this would play out similarly to Chapter 4, as in trying to clear an injustice within the foundation. However, they truly can't leave the foundation or else they would have no support or help. Vertin still needs them and the others need their support as well. They can't leave but they certainly can keep a watch on the younger ones in the foundation.
#reverse 1999#I have remembered too little#I'm not quite sure how this would play out#I need info (bites BP)#but I think most people know about the experiments#especially LSCC and SPDM#the other branches would be left without knowing#Madam Lucy probably knows#but everyone else like X MedPoc Ezra and Z are left out because they would fight#I can imagine Adler fighting for the rights of the children#and if it's just Vertin then her close one would fight even harder#I didn't mention Tooth Fairy because she can't fight against the foundation but she would be one to check Vertin#she would make sure the experiment isn't harming her physically or mentally

“How is he?” Sirius asked, biting his lower lip as he looked at Remus, still lying unconscious in the stark hospital bed. “You’ll be able to help him, won’t you?”
Most injured Wolfstar fanfics…
“We are certainly trying to, Mr Black, he’s receiving intensive treatment,” the nurse said kindly, looking at him with pity, and a sad smile. “We can but hope.”
Versus
“How is he?” Sirius asked, biting his lower lip as he looked at Remus, still lying unconscious in the stark hospital bed. “You’ll be able to help him, won’t you?”
“Well, Mr Black,” began the nurse, flicking through his detailed chart info. “His fluid input and output is being monitored, he’s on a X solution, infusing at a rate of X, and he had a catheter in place which so far has an output of X urine in 24hrs which is fine. He’s having twice daily bloods via his central line, we’re awaiting the results from this morning, his BP and PR are relatively stable and his oxygen sats are pretty stable at X%, he’s due a chest X-ray and then he’s due an MRI abdomen at noon, I hope that’s not a mistake, I’ll double check the handover to make sure it’s not meant to be an MRI thorax, the dietitian is on her way to make recommendations regarding his NG feed and…”
Sirius Black looked at the muggle camera which had had randomly materialised beside him.
“Er, I think that might be like TMI, as far as the readers are concerned?” he whispered.
The nurse drew themselves up fully and glared at him.
“TMI? I HAVEN’T EVEN GONE THROUGH HIS ENTIRE CARE PLAN! What about the protocols to avoid pressure ulcers? The water bed? The cardiology consult? The physio for his chest infection? The- “
Sirius Black was still staring at the muggle camera, grimacing.
“What about the extreme pining? The tearful soliloquy by Moony’s bedside? The angsty phone call to Prongs? The ugly crying with Evans? The convo with a distraught Hope and Lyall? He’s not going to recover from his injuries until he hears me tell him I’m desperately, overwhelmingly, truly, madly, deeply in love with him, we need to skip all this and fast forward to-“ he said, throwing his hands into the air.
“Fast forward? FAST FORWARD? I HAVEN’T EVEN TOLD YOU ALL THE MEDS HE’S ON AND WHICH CONSULTANT TEAM HE’S- “ the nurse was staring at him in horror, utterly gobsmacked.
A low groan arose from Remus’ bed.
“Padfoot,” he said, in a ragged whisper. “Did you just admit that you’re in love with me?”
“Ah for fuck’s sake, you’ve just ruined the entire bloody build up!” Sirius huffed. “This is not the direction that RJ wanted this fic to-“
“Out! I need to check his obs, plus, visiting hours are over!”
“But what about the sleeping by his bedside twenty-four seven for like six months?” Sirius gasped in shock. “What about the-“
“Is anyone going to acknowledge that I fucking well woke up here? From a fucking coma? Hello??” Remus Lupin said in an icy tone.
“Mr Lupin, we haven’t gotten to that part yet! Kindly lie back down and feign unconsciousness till I finish your goddam care plan!”
“I HAVEN’T EVEN HAD TIME TO BUY THE FUCKING RING YET MOONY, YOU IDIOT!”
The difficulty in being a nurse and writing Wolfstar fanfic, is that there's inevitably some time when Remus someone is injured or unconscious for some length of time, and I worry about pressure ulcers, how do they pee/poop, how do they get their medication... I feel like I need to write care plans for them!
#what the hell#what even is this#medical writers#and yes rj is a dote#and I may be a bit overtired and overworked!#real life versus fanfic

My Experience with a Gastroscopy
Hey all, just wanted to share my experience in the Endoscopy Unit. I found that there weren’t a lot of personal experiences posted and so I wanted to share my experience of getting an upper endoscopy.
Arriving at the hospital:
Admitting directed me to the endoscopy unit where I was them greeted by one of the nurses. She gave me some forms to fill in (pretty basic questions; what symptoms I was having, for how long, medications, family history of certain conditions, etc.) When I finished with those, she handed me a laminated sheet with what to expect when I’m called back into the prep area and i was given my wristband with my info on it. Not long before I finished even processing the information, one of the other nurses called me back to the changing area. They gave me a locker to put all my belongings and she showed me what to change into. All clothing minus panties and socks had to get removed. I put on a gown which opened to the back and had a robe over top.
Pre-op Area:
I followed the red areas to proceed to the Pre-op room. It consisted of a few chairs outside the room, and then 4 other big padded chairs each with their own BP and heart rate monitoring systems. I was called in and another nurse attended to me. She took my blood pressure, temperature and heart rate and then went over the consent forms for the gastroscopy to be sure I had no questions and understood the procedure. Once completed, she got the IV ready to be inserted. Unfortunately my veins were all in hiding, so she got a hot, damp towel and blanket from the warmer to wrap my arm in. I baked in that for about 10 minutes before she came back to check, a vein in my hand was a little more visible so she made an attempt to get the IV started but wasn’t successful. She checked higher up my arm to see that a different vein had become visible and she successfully got the thing started (thank god.) After that was just playing the waiting game. Many more patients had cycled in and out for different procedures with different doctors. I was just unlucky with the fact that the patient who had the same doctor as me ended up having a double performed (colonoscopy followed by a gastrscopy) so unfortunately my appointment was bumped back by almost another 2 hours.
Procedure Room:
Finally, at 10:30am, the endoscopy nurse called my name. She checked my wristband, asked me to spell my last name, my date of birth, what procedure I was having done and who my doctor was before leading me to a procedure room. It was a fairly plain room from what I remember, a computer on a desk, a couple other screens for monitoring patient stats and a screen for what I’m assuming was for viewing what the scope was showing. My gastroenterologist greeted me, as well as another nurse. He asked me some questions about my condition, how long it’s been going on and if anything seems to help it, and some other questions about family history as the one nurse got me set up on the gurney. They asked if I had any other questions before proceeding with the final set up for the procedure. They gave me a nose piece which had oxygen pumping through it, the doctor sprayed the back of my throat with a numbing solution (which tasted worst than Buckley’s cough syrup), the nurse hooked up my IV line to the bag, and they did more checks on my vitals, and went through a mental check list of everything that had been done so far. My doctor then placed this mouth piece (it essentially keeps you from biting the scope) before giving the okay for the nurse to administer sedation. I was told to lay on my left side. They waited a few minutes for the sedation to kick in before proceeding. I don’t remember much, which is how it’s supposed to be, but I do remember gagging as the scope first went down and coughing as it hit the stomach, followed by more gagging as they moved the scope around. I remember the nurses and doctor saying things like “you’re doing great” , “keep breathing through your nose” , “we’re almost there”. My doctor took a few biopsies, which I didn’t feel at all, before pulling the scope out, to which I gagged and coughed more.
Post-op
I don’t even really recall bring moved into the post op care room, or having the nurse place the call button remote into my hand. I opened my eyes briefly to check my surroundings. I had the IV bag still hooked up, warm blankets over top, still laying on my side. I had no idea what time it was, but I still felt groggy so I fell back asleep. I opened my eyes once more to see that a nurse was checking up on me. She asked how I felt, and if I wanted the bed moved into a position so I could sit up comfortably, to which I said yes. She asked if I wanted some water, and of course I didn’t decline. When she returned, she called my boyfriend and said I would be ready for pickup in the next 20 minutes or so. She checked vitals again and said she would remove my IV since I appeared alert. She then left to grab my belongings so I could get changed. The curtain was pulled so I had some privacy and she waited nearby for me to finish. Before escorting me out she gave me my post op instructions as well as the patient version of my chart with basic info of what he had done. She informed me that my doctor did take biopsies and that a detailed report would be sent to my family doctor, but that he would call me if there were any abnormalities. She escorted me back to the main endoscopy reception area to where I found my boyfriend waiting patiently by the entrance. Trip Home It was a complete blur. I don’t really remember getting out of the hospital, but I do remember getting in the car. I remember maybe 5 minutes of the whole trip back which took about 30 minutes. When we got back to the house I apparently went straight to the basement and passed out for almost 2 hours, was up and at em for another few hours before taking another 2 hour nap. How I Feel - 24 hours later I’ve got some bruising in my hand and arm from where they attempted and where I had my IV in, which is a little uncomfortable, but manageable. My throat is definitely sore most of its length and my first meal after the scoping was more painful than I thought it would be but the pain is alleviating as time goes on. I am however still exhausted, which is normal. Just need more rest.
