The Aedan stuff:

glance has been answered here! (also, I really do have something with tattoos today, because this ask made me want to write the fic where he gets his body doodled by his friends)

As I've said, he is about 185 cm, so he is tall, and as a warrior, his body is very muscular, he needs those muscles so that he has the strength to run around in heavy armor all day! But when he is in no immediate danger and can dress however he chooses, he doesn't really hide anything. I imagine him having lots of body heat, so he prefers lighter clothing. His ideal outfit is just his boxers, but unfortunately, he doesn't get the chance to wear that very often. Back in his old life at the castle, he had to wear more formal clothing, imagine the scandal of a noble wearing nothing but his boxers around! Still, he got reckless a few times, making his mother very upset and his father very amused. So all in all, he does not try to mask anything, he cares very little.

Aedan is used to being still, he can't afford to be fidgety while in heavy armor, but if he sits down, he loves swinging his legs about. He walks a lot, so it helps his muscles relax, but it does not help at all in making him more intimidating, he looks ridiculously cute, like a kid waiting with his mom at the doctors' office :))) As for common tics, the man's eyebrows are very expressive!

The Fenrik (Miraak) stuff:

day: What does your OC wear on a normal day? Why do they default to those clothes? Do they wear similar things, or do they change it up?

The Skaal party in Chapter 9 let to many revelations for dear Fenrik, and one of them is that he is not used to wearing pants :)) He is a bit too used to long robes. I mean, he's worn robes for all his life, so he does wear robes pretty much all the time. Robes feel like more freedom, a feeling that Fenrik appreciates in all its senses! But it's a nice change to wear pants every once in a while, it reminds him that now he does have free will and can do whatever he wants!

armor: What kind of armor does your OC wear? Is it well kept? Bonus: where does it come from? Is there a story behind it?

He used to have his Dragon Priest robes, but as you may have noticed, I made no mention of those so far, since he got out of Apocrypha. That's because when he woke up from his coma and recovered enough to get out of bed and take a bath, he just threw his 'Miraak robes' as far away as possible, in a corner in his room. Ravvy saw the robes while Fenrik was taking his bath, and because she did not trust him at all back then, she took them away from him and hid them in a locked chest. She thought his robes had some special enchantments that made him super powerful. She just gave him some of her enchanted robes. What she doesn't know is that Fenrik doesn't even want to look at his old robes anymore. They bring too many painful memories of the Dragon Cult, so he would never wear them again. So as for now, he just wears whatever robes he can, they're all heavily enchanted by Ravvy anyway! 

The Ravonna stuff:

Her amulet of Julianos from Endryn! Not only for the sentimental value, but also for the magical guidance and small buff it gives her. Julianos is the god that she prayed to the most. Well, not necessarily prayed, but meditated on and talked to. It all gives her balance and mana.

But that is more of an accessory than a piece of clothing, so to properly answer your question, her fave thing to wear is an ancient pair of pirate boots that Hjaldir got for her on one of his trips in High Rock. She wears them almost all the time! It was extremely hard to let the boots go in favour of some fancy heels at the Thalmor Embassy party. But she walked in those heels like a champ, and they made her a bit taller, which she appreciated since she attended the party with Rumarin, who is *the* tallest member of the fellowship.

I never thought of what Ravvy would wear in a modern AU! it's hard for me to picture her in anything else other than mage robes, but I believe she would adopt the comfy metalhead look in a modern AU. Baggy jeans, even baggier band shirts, a few tattoos, maybe? Jean and leather jackets for sure! And speaking of tattoos and everything, I just thought of the tattoo artist (Ravvy) x florist (Miraak) AND THAT IS THE SWEETEST THING, TRULY! It would be so cute!

in the nicest and most non-confrontational way possible. i feel like some of you think that anything that isn't directly openly spelled out for you within a story is "missed potential" or "unexplored." like. sometimes there are implied narratives. sometimes the point is that you as the reader are supposed to think and draw your own conclusions and participate in the story. the writers not directly spelling every little detail out for you doesn't mean that the story is poorly written or missed its own plot details somehow. PLEASE.

Why do you think did Curly let Jimmy go before the crash? I've seen the theory Curly briefly thought about crashing too but didn't expect Jimmy to go through with it

I generally believe it was shock and a bit of denial.

It’s the sort of thing where Curly knew Jimmy enough to know he blows up at things but he never would’ve expected him to go through with something so crazy. He gives Jimmy way too much benefit. It’s just his nature and the dynamics he has with Jimmy. They have a stable relationship as friends but it’s stabilized by the unhealthy toxic aspects that keep him in it. He’s like this with Anya, taking the gun is something he really shouldn’t have kept off the record, so is Swansea’s feigned hostility toward Daisuke. He doesn’t want to get people in trouble and doesn’t want to believe anyone would cause trouble other than to themselves. He’s a very lenient man.

I think the words were hollow in his head. Said but not really meant like all the times Jimmy lashes out and says something cruel to him or others. He never means it, if he did why would he still be Curly’s friend? Curly’s head wasn’t in the right space in that moment, he just got through panicking with Anya and if the sound design is anything to go by, was panicked and preoccupied going to confront Jimmy. I mean, the flash of the warning signs before he runs back are identical to the dissociative episode of sort he has when going to talk to Jimmy to do his Psyc eval.

There is this sort of assumption in fanon that Curly was the idealic person for the job and simply failed. None of them were the idealic people to be there, it’s Curly’s entire concern with the ladder he chose. I see more interpretations of him being purposefully ignorant where I see him as just always looking the wrong way or not in a place where he can see it. There’s something different about seeing something than being told about it in the human mind. It may just be the psych student in me but Curly def has some sort of cognitive dissonance just like Jimmy but when it comes to his role as a Captain vs who he is.

They blur in his head to where if you ask him if he was acting as a Captain or a friend or himself to his crew he couldn’t answer. Not with confidence even if he did. There are many times we see that Curly himself is not in the right headspace to lead the Tulpar and that’s outside of anything with Jimmy. He’s spacey, he’s not sleeping, he’s deeply unhappy with himself and life. It’s why there’s believability he crashed the ship. Maybe the others saw it, or maybe Jimmy heard enough of it to spin it in a way that made Curly seem suicidally depressed.

So the tdlr is I think it wasn’t so much letting Jimmy go, more so not seeing the severity of what he was allowing to transpire. In his mind it’s just another one of Jimmy’s bluffs, cruel words, off words but just words. Jimmy rarely ever acts, why would he now? Maybe he’s never seen it because Jimmy hides those actions? Either way, he just never thought he’d really do it.

keegan number 1 for the wip ask game: soulmate keegan-- takes place during the mission "clockwork," for the cod: ghosts enjoyers!

It burns where he's gripping you. Sears your neck at the throat. It hurts so bad you white out for a moment. The man's arm tightens across your shoulders, pinning you to his chest, and you grab his forearm. He hisses in pain. Instantly, you both know what just happened: he soulmarked you; and you, him. He burned his handprint into your throat--the first place he touched you. You burned yours into his arm--singeing him through your gloves and through his disguise. Keegan knew his soulmate probably existed in the world somewhere, but never thought much about what it would be like to know her—if he ever had the chance at all. Still, finding his soulmate here and now--a Federation soldier in a Federation base, of all things--triggers an instinct in his mind that compels him to keep her from harm. That instinct wars with the need to carry out the mission at all costs. But his grip doesn't lessen. Instead, he tightens his arm around you, trying to keep a cool head. He drags you past his teammates--Logan, Hesh, and Merrick--and into an adjacent empty room. You can barely see anything, but you hear shouting and the exchange of gunfire. You struggle against his hold. "Let go of me!" "I'm not gonna let go." He shifts his grip to pry your head back, exposing the glowing soulmark formed at the base of your neck. His breath falls over the mark, and it glows hotter. Neither of you can ignore this. You're his soulmate. But here? Now? You're supposed to be an enemy; you're part of the Federation. He's not even supposed to let you live. But he's definitely not gonna let you die.

and keegan number 2: keegan in the cold-- with medic!reader. warning: keegan is mean.

"Why would you say that?" "Because I want you to understand who you are," Keegan hisses. "You can't handle using a gun because you're scared. You can't tell Hesh how you feel because you know he'd reject you. You'd be dead if I hadn't pulled you to safety. You're nothing without me. You're pathetic." You keep your mouth shut until the sting from his words fades. What he's saying isn't true. He's pissed and looking for control wherever he can get it because that's the kind of bastard he is. You will your voice to soften from anger into condescension. "Do you want that to be true, Keegan? Would it feed your ego?" "What I want is for you to admit that I was right," Keegan retorts, his tone growing more aggressive as you refuse to rise to the bait. "Admit that you rely on me. That without me, you'd be dead. That you're weak and pathetic and need me to be your shield. It's the truth, isn't it? Say it." "It sounds like you want it to be true." ”It sounds like you're avoiding the question.” "You want me to tell you I'm worthless?" “I want you to tell me I'm right." He leans closer, invading your personal space. "I want you to show me some gratitude for saving your life. Maybe treat me better than the dirt on the bottom of your fucking shoes." That takes you genuinely by surprise. Anger still simmers in your gut. But you tamp it down. You keep your head cool and your voice even. "Thank you, Keegan, once again," you bite out, "for saving my pathetic life. Happy?"  "Thank you isn't good enough," Keegan growls, his tone dangerously low. "Keep talking."

Gale smiles a bit and leans back, tilting his head. “You askin’ for something?” John’s face goes hot, and he feels like he’s been seen right through. His lips part, but he can’t get the words out; he can only blink up at Gale as he walks over to the table and leans on it in a near mirror image of the first time they’d spoken in the pub. “Hm?” Gale presses, and John nods again, eyes dancing around Gale’s face, heart mimicking the motions against his ribs. “You don’t have to ask, baby,” Gale tells him softly as he places a hand under John’s chin, tilting it up a little.

A Question For Everyone

A few years ago, I encountered a question of great interest, that I love to hear everyone’s questions about and answers to, which resulted in a game: The Marble Game. I am once again in need of a little distraction and fun, so, if you have a few minutes, would you play along?

The Situation:

Suppose that it is 6 years into the 2012 apocalypse, which was supernatural in origin. You encounter a god that is, in your limited experience with it and in the 6 years of experience the nearby town has had with it, generally benevolent. You do this god a favor. It gives you a fragment of the Origin (what existed before anything existed) that is roughly the size, shape and texture of a small glass marble. It is the seed for beginning a universe, though you have personally watched the god deactivate it to become inert. You leave for 3 days and then return to the god. You ask what to do with the fragment. It tells you “Swallow it.”

The Question: What do you do?

For the purposes of this game you may ask me any questions you would like about what you already know, or any questions you would ask the god in order to answer whether or not you would swallow it. The only question(s) it will not answer are ones regarding what will happen if you do or don’t.

I will post answers to questions here. If you send a non-anon ask with your choice, I will privately answer you about what happens after your choice but please be kind and don’t give away the ending in replies or reblogs once you know (or if you have played before). gx is so crazy how do you explain to someone with a surface-level understanding of what yugioh is that the series after dm features a hermaphroditic dragon-demon card spirit fusing their soul with the main character, who also has apparently been continually reincarnating for 100s of years with the card spirit's primary goal being to protect him, and when they embrace to fuse he says they shall never part again because they will forever and always from that point on be one jointed soul and body, and also he commits a borderline genocide against the card spirit race (???) and straight up kills some of his friends (they get better), and also there's a character who got his leg broken during an archeological dig and they replaced the broken bone with a dinosaur bone (???) and now he's like part dino and has fucking dino dna (?????????) and they send him to space as his dinosona to destroy a satellite that is about to destroy the earth (????????????), and also one of the teachers in the school (seto kaiba's duel school for dueling) is a homunculus and when he dies his soul (???) gets eaten by his cat and for the rest of the series he is living (?) inside of the cat's body, and also on top of all that theres a cool rival character as expected of a show targeted towards young boys who looks cool but in actuality he's lame as hell like he canonically stinks like shit cause he doesn't wash his clothes and he joins a cult and they get him out of the cult by reminding him that his real personality is being a rancid little stinky smelly bastard loser and no one likes him and he spends the entire series getting completely dunked on and also his main archetype is these things:

and then you have to concede that at the end of the day it is still an anime for a children's card game designed to sell the cards so if you ever try to explain the impact this had on your developing mind at 7 years old you'll sound sick

I just realized something kinda annoying about engstars, they let Ra*bits call Nazuna "Ni-chan", but Eichi is referred to as "Brother Eichi" :/ I wish they'd just stick with one rather than make it confusing (especially for people that only have/use the official translation)

Brother eichi sounds like they're in a monastery i'll never get over that. I hear gongs in my head every time i read it. Im sorry to anyone that only uses the official translation though:( for many reasons i wont get into cuz i think i'll sound annoying if i do. Anyway. Rinne and Niki calling Anzu sister is funny tho, i'll give eng that, it adds a vague 2010s american gay layer to their characters that was definitely not intentional but it's there now
