The Outsiders as dads because i think it will be cute
Sodapop:
-The type of dad to have princess tea party's with his kids
-for sure a girl dad
-he will not put his baby down no matter what (he properly got one of those baby carriers)
-teaches his daughters how to fight
-his kids are spoiled af he is quite literally in capepable of telling them no
-wants 12 kids....gets 3 (one set of twins though)
-he's the dad that you can go to about anything (some of the gangs kids even go to him with there problems because they know he won't judge)
Ponyboy:
-i feel like if pony had kids he would have them super young like 18 to 21
-truly has no clue what to do with a small child
-tries to play lego's with his infint and is sad when the kid cant play back
-he reads giant books to his kids before bed instead of those bord books
-his kids are little gremlens (just like him fr)
-always upset at his kids for doing shit he used to do (with his daughter its mainly braking cerfew and his son just talks back like crazy)
-he's always complaining to Darry about how his kids act.... Darry is just sitting there like this🙄🤦🏻‍♂
-had 2 kids a boy and a girl
Johhny:
-absolutely terrified to have kids he's scared to end up like his parents
-but his fear is gon the SECOND he holds that little baby and realises it has his eyes
-reads all of the parenting books (he just wants to be the best dad he can be)
-refuses to let his parents meet his baby the baby is way too perfect to be anywhere near that kind of abuse
-insanely over protective
-no sleepovers at other people's houses
-lo key won't let his kids hang out with Ponys kids he thinks they're a bad influence
-has one kid and is completely happy with that
Dally:
-surprisingly he's actually a pretty good dad
-him and his spawn are a menace to society though
-teaches his kids how to drive at 13
-i feel like he only has one kid as well
-i can see him as a single dad i image that it was an accidental pregnancy after a one night stand or something
-at first the gang kind of made him stick around but then his son (i hc him as a boy dad obv) grabbed onto Pony's hair and started pulling and would not let go. It was at that moment that dallas started to appreciate fatherhood
-fatherhood actually softens him just a little bit
-if you mention him going soft however he will punch you in the face
-he's that "my baby can do no wrong" type of dad
I have so many HCs of dally being a dad though so lmk if you want more
TwoBit:
-he is actually the best dad in the gang
-he doesn't take things to seriously but hes still really strong and supportive
-i feel like this man has an absurd number of children
-and they're all girls
-hosts sleepovers for all of the gangs kids (these are the only sleepovers Johnny lets his kid go to)
Darry:
-takes him a while to warm up to the idea of having kids
-i mean he practically became a dad to two teenagers overnight at 20
-i feel like he would be a good dad though
-the kind if dad to take his kids to work
-he has 2 kids btw
-i feel like he's an anxious dad... After everything he's been through /lost he's terrified to lose them
-definitely the kind of guy to get up in the middle of the night to do feeds
-will wait up for his kids if they're out late
-lord help them if they break curfew
Steve:
-like Johnny he was scared to have kids because of what his dad was like
-i feel like it took him longer than it took Johnny to get over that fear though
-it took a lot of reassurance from the gang/his partner for him to believe that he was a good parent
-he has 1 boy
-once his son shows an interest in cars thats when he starts to believe that he might be a good father
-takes his kid go drag races and auto shows

How'd you rank the other LIs? I assume Alex is fairly high because he only non-cons when drunk you can lower his dominance to make non-con less common
I have a very serious problem with acoholic people due to some childhood trauma, but fortunately Alex is a good person in general and manage their stats is quite easy even for a busy PC. Also, they're sweet. I haven't encountered any Alex non-con or suffer anything too serious from drunk Alex, so yeah.
And plus, their farm fully upgraded is a huge passive source of money, and I do love the fact they might potentially be a secret batshit crazy scientist too! I'm waiting for when they can rescue PC from Remy farm! Or go wreak chaos with PC too! Heheh fun~
Hmmmmm there are too many factors needed to take into consideration, but based on my saves maybe:
1. ✨Robin✨ (Of course)
2. Sydney (For the richness of contents)
3. Great Hawk (Goodest bord)
4. Alex (Managable, sweet)
5. Whitney (I smell potentially good plots)
6. Kylar (I despise stalkers in general but- sigh, I smell good plots too)
7. Eden, Black Wolf, Avery (Not that I can't think of interesting things to draw for them, they're just not what I would prefer to draw.)

[Long Post] the rewritten zombie au post (part 1)
Tav Journal - Alpha
Sanity log 1:
Something happened a few days ago, we're not sure what to call it yet. People have gone mad, it's a miracle that all four of us made it off base alive. To be honest I'm not even really sure what went down. That's why im even starting this, so I can keep it all in order. I think I'd much prefer a verbal log, but with the way things have gone I think this is more logical since devices have limited storage and usually aren't water friendly. And in any case wilderness survival training in boot taught how to make string from plants, and I went down a rabit hole af few years back on how to make books from scratch, so I know how to do that. The only problem would be finding things to write with, but there's probably an easy solution.
I've never done this before, I'm not really sure where to start, but I guess the beginning would be good.
The beginning felt like ages ago to me, so I'm a bit hazy on the details. Ghost says we were in his room watching a movie (note: it might be good to start getting the others side of things too, not sure for what, but maybe it'll be useful later). And then I think we heard lots of noise, screaming maybe, or just a stampede perhaps, I know I definitely heard a gunshot. We opened the door to see what the hell was going on and ,honest to god, the halls were packed fulled than I've ever seen them, with a moving hoarde.
After that it gets much clearer. Kinda. Ghost pulled out a go bag from, I don't even know, and the knife he keeps under his bed. It was like he was prepared for something like this, he was so fast (though I suppose if you go through as much shit as he has then you learn to stay prepared, I guess). He pushed me us out the window, and then we were running into the woods. Well ghost was running to the woods, I was following ghost.
He shoved us down under the shrubbery and the just laid there for, I don't even know how long, but it must've been a quarter of the day easily. He started peaking his head up when the sun hit the tree line, at this point we still have no idea what's up with gaz and/or price. I think ghost had us wait another hour or two, until it really got dark, before we actually got up. And then we're apparently heading to the armory, remember, I'm still just following ghost at this point.
Ghost hands me one of the tac bags and tells me to load it with whatever ammo I could grab. The bags are meant to hold guns, so there's a lot of space to fill up. Honestly I hardly even looked at it all, I just started tossing stuff in. Ghost was filling up his own bag of whatever gun was compatible with the rounds I was grabbing. (Side note: the base is only allowed to keep a certain amount in the armory at a time, so I grabbed it all). He also, apparently, grabbed 2 sets of the combat knives, which he would hand later to me once we got off the base.
After that we went to the cafe, loaded up on food. I wonder if ghost knew what was actually happening or if he was working off of instinct? We got off base after that, Wandered until night fall. Wandered most of the next day as well. Ran into price and gaz as the sun was setting.
There's more to add. A lot more. Important details I skipped to get the main points down. But we're moving on early tomorrow morning, I took watch last night, so I need sleep tonight.
"Hit the hay, Johnny, we're moving gone as soon as the sun's up"
"Aye, right on it, LT. Don't get too borded without me." He gave the man a mock salute, to which he got an unimpressed look. He settled with his head on his arm and let his eyes fall shut.
If soap woke up in the morning a little earlier that price and gaz so he could cuddle with ghost... well that's neither here nor there.
"I think we're crossing the city today, so... you know... expect trouble." Ghost says quietly.
"Cans 'n' gum? Or something else?"
"Maybe pick up a bag or two. Gotta be extra careful though, I think price said he saw squatters when he was out scouting with with gaz yesterday."
"Zombies ghost. Brain eating zombies, like the dumb movies." Soap giggles.
"Fine. Zombies." Ghost humors him with an exasperated sigh at soap's antics.

Douglas is cancelled
I loved this show but the very end the hotel room her interview-it didn't give me what I wanted.
I mean obviously Madiline f-ed up with a few things- she shouldn't have been tactile when trying to find out the truth- nor used that to manipulate him- he was uncomfortable so she should have stopped.
I get it is revenge and like I get it but i kinda wished she had found another way.
Also in the final piece of hotel scene before the hay festival, I wish that taking a photo of Toby hadn't been presented as the best option she had. I respect her choice - in terms of she didn't know what else to do but I do think it feeds into the narrative that a strong woman would have found a way to escape and that blackmailint some with leaking nudes is a tactic that is safe or the best option - she could also be convicted ( she shouldn't be but she could be)
Also it seemed to shame people who would be afraid or desperate for the job enough to sleep with him- sleeping with a superior for something if you aren't scared is morally neuteral(for you) I would reckon- so long as you are single. I don't judge. I judge the boss though it is horrible.
If she was scared for her future career anywhere- and how Toby could manipulate her and so stayed and he had pressured her into s-x that is s/a no two ways about it.
if she had stayed and not done anything with him he would still be a horrible man who sexually harassed her and an absolute arsehole.
And that is why I am posting so that if anybody out there saw this and thought Douglas was right when he said "phone the police- your regretting your choice then phone your mum or your best friend"
He very much isn't Madaline knows that, Stephen Moffat knows that .don't beat your self up, okay.
and then the whole it is a win for me not for women thing is fair if that is the way you feel(being proud of yourself and not wanting to think your achievement is only impressive because you are a woman prehaps.
It also may not be a problem she won for her and it doesn't stop anything involving toby - she is afraid, you might be afriad, not everybody has the ability and stabilty and safety net to stand up to such things. That doesn't mean she is horrible
I don't like however the fact she is naive enough to not see women are a group of people who are mistreated(because we are women) and our sucess does mean something for others as does our losses( when a woman is hurt it makes women afraid). I do wish Moffat would have made it more just violence does happen to women because they are women for five sesonds- Mad's opinions being the closest to right just means somepeople I reckon will twist it so that they can victim blame women for being too soft or weak or say bad things only happen to women who aren't strong enough or that women need to deal with these things themselves rather than joining together. I mean it is obvious violence and mistreatment of women from men is a problem but I have met so many men who don't believe these things happen often or at all and I am borded of educating men ages 18 to 30 at the age of 19 because subtlty and nuance goes over my guy Luke's head.
it is very complex and cool- obviously doesn't represent the young or activists or people with anxiety/autism very well and that sucks but it is great tv - very dramatic and well filmed, with great acting and lots of layers or good and bad and sad in all of the characters. I mean one just calm nice unbullied person would have been great but i suppose Kirsty Wark is a nice person so her 2 minute appearance might count.
I loved the script and it is very worth a watch and it isn't trying to be so problematic for me, or you potentially, it's just Madalyn is a total Talitha at points and some people see only in black and white.
So all the we should all aim for human rights stuff though true lacks a framework to hang on that doesn't result in a mixed message possibly.

My Day on the Island Batik Lone Star Blog Hop
Welcome to my day on the Island Batik Lone Star Blog Hop!
This month long celebration of Island Batiks features lovely quilts, new batik collections, inspiring lone star quilt, and some fabulous giveaways!
Be sure to read all the way to the end of this post to enter my giveaway, the current Island Batik giveaway, and to find links to the other Ambassadors who are participating in the hop.
This hop features the Summer 2022 batik collections that are arriving in stores now. Click here to use the Store Locator to find a store near you that carries Island Batik.
For this blog hop, I received the Emperor’s Treasures collection. This collection is so gorgeous. I love purple as you know, and the greens and blues that accompany it in this collection are wonderful.
I’m calling my new design Lonely No More.
Like a lot of the Ambassadors, I used Electric Quilt to layout the fabrics from the collection in a lone star. I wanted my lone star to radiate out from the center. To achieve the look I wanted, I used almost all of the fabrics in the collection minus a few of the brighter greens.
I received 1/2 yard of each of the fabrics in the Emperor’s Treasures collection, plus 2 yards of a light and a dark coordinate—plenty to achieve my design. Isn’t this collection beautiful?
Here are the specific fabrics from the collection I used.
The challenge this month was to design a lone star quilt. I made one once before, for the Island Batik Try a Technique challenge years ago.
To make my Sunset at St. John’s quilt I used the QuiltSmart Little Lone Star interfacing and made the One Little Bitty Star quilt. For my Lonely No More quilt, I returned to the same interfacing and used more of it to create a Bitty Broken Lone Star.
Because I was already familiar with the QuiltSmart method, I felt free to vary the technique a little.
With the QuiltSmart method, you cut rectangles instead of diamonds. Next, you fuse the rectangles to the lightweight interfacing and sew at a diagonal to create perfect diamonds. The QuiltSmart method solves a lot of the problems you might encounter with making a lone star quilt—most noteably, the bias edges on cut diamond shapes and (the resultant tendency to stretch out of shape.) With the QuiltSmart method, you also avoid the difficulty of sewing those diamond blocks together to create the top (usually done using y-seams).
One thing I don’t like about the QuiltSmart method is that you end up with stiffer top—although the interfacing is featherlight, fusing your rectangles to it for sewing prevents you from trimming the excess seam allowances between the diamond shapes.
To combat this, I came up with my own way of using the interfacing. I cut the rectangles and sewed them together at an angle as directed in the pattern. Then I pressed the seam allowances open and trimmed them. I used my Prairie Spirit wool mat and my wool clapper to get everything pressed nice and flat.
When I had the four rows made, I fused them to the interfacing then sewed the rows together using the markings on the interfacing as directed in the pattern. Voila! Perfect diamonds (and perfectly matched intersections) without any bulk.
After I sewed some of the diamonds together, I laid them on various backgrounds to see what I liked. My dh and I agreed that black was best for this collection.
As I mentioned before, the process of sewing all those diamonds together is simplified in the QuiltSmart method. Instead of sewing in the background squares using y-seams, you sew the diamonds together using triangles that create squares and rectangle units that you then sew together to create the quilt top. This method avoids the traditional method of constructing a lone star top with Y-seams. So easy peasy!
Because I have other projects I need to finish, I sent my quilt out to be quilted. Together, me and the longarmer decided to quilt feathers in the diamonds and to use ruler work to quilt the open background spaces. Small swirls completed the quilting in the tiny border I placed on the outside.
I used Hobbs PolyDown batting to gift the quilting a lift and feature those lovely feathers in the diamonds and the graphic, modern ruler work.
I think you can see the quilting even better on the back!
As I can see I finished the quilt with a black binding. On the back I used the lighter coordinate I was given along with two of the green fabrics I hadn’t been able to use on the front.
Here are the quilt details:

This is my better introduction to my darklys kai au. My original post was kinda just word vomit and I want it to look better.
So what happens is when ray and maya get kidnapped by krux, kai and nya attempt to live on their own but struggle. Eventually an adult notices and tells the authorities (do small villages even have child services?). Kai and nya are sent to a orphanage in ninjago city where they live for three years.
At this point kai is 8 and nya is 6. Kai causes a lot of problems for the orphanage because he believes if they get sick of it they will kick him and nya out and they can live on there own. Nya on the other hand is an angel that has done nothing wrong.
This couple who just got married (have not decided on names yet) want to adopt a child. They go to the orphanage and see nya who fits all their check boxes. Nya takes to them like a fish in water and is really happy with them. Kai doesn’t like it but thinks it will just go like all the other time someone wanted to adopt them. It doesn’t and it ends up with nya being adopted by her new moms.
Kai is very unhappy about this when he realizes they only want nya. He can’t lose her. So he’s about to go to nya and guilt trip her into staying when one of the volunteers catches him and asks him why he’s so upset. He tells her and she basically says to his face that he’s being selfish and that if he loves his sister he will let her go live where she can be happy. So kai never says anything, goes to bed after telling nya goodnight, and the next morning she’s just gone.
Kai goes ballistic. At this point he feels like he’s lost everything. So he screams, yells, gets into fights with other kids and finally ends up almost biting another kids finger off. Nobody at the orphanage wants to deal with him. So they send him to a different one. His behavior gets worse. Eventually nobody wants to take him in. So they send him to the one place that will. Darklys bording school for bad boys.
That’s all the energy I have to write now so I might make a second part to this talking about what happens next later.

Brendan Brisson's Best Friend- Thomas Bordeleau
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/n and Thomas are dating but the boys don't know and you go to the carnival with them.
A/n: Hey guys! Ahhh, so I'm so excited for this one! This is my first Thomas fic so... Feedback good or bad is always welcome here so please tell me what you think. It might be a bit sad. Please tell me if you want a part two. Special thanks to Abbs ( @1-800-iluvhockey )for all the help! <33 I hope you guys enjoy it :)
I want to clarify incase anyone's confused this is a Thomas Bordeleau x reader fic but Brendan is a main character in it.
Here's part 2
Here's part 3
You're standing in front of the full length mirror in your room looking over what is probably the tenth outfit you had tried on.  You were thinking about how you wanted to try on one more outfit, when you heard your boyfriend of a month and a half mutter something quietly to himself. "What" you ask Thomas,a little bit annoyed that he interrupted your train of thought. "It's just that you're taking a really, really long time to decide on what to wear" he tells you " I think you look good no matter what you wear".  You thank him and ultimately decide to wear a pair of ripped jeans and a cropped black top since it's relatively warm. "Babe it's gonna be 7 at night by the time we get to the carnival ,you sure you won't be cold or do you just want an excuse to steal another one of my hoodies?" Thomas questions with a smirk. "I would never!" you respond knowing fully that, that's your plan. You leave the room to go and fix your hair.
"C'mon y/n we should get going or we are going to be late picking up Briss"  your boyfriend yells at you from the bottom of the stairs 15 minutes later. " I'm coming" you yell back.
It's funny when you think about it because without Brendan you probably would never have met Thomas. You and Brendan had been best friends since forever and then when he introduced you to Thom there was just an instant connection and hey,now the two of you are dating! The only catch is that Brendan or any of the Umich guys don't know yet. It's not that you didn't want to tell Brendan you were just nervous about his reaction. He was like a brother to you and you were worried that this would cause problems between him and Thomas.
You finished your makeup and rushed down the stairs. You met Thomas at the bottom and stopped on the last stair. "What's wrong" you ask wondering why he's just standing there staring at you. He eventually pulls it together “ You look absolutely beautiful” he tells you as he picks you up and spins you around.
The two of you get into the car and Thomas puts the key in the ignition and turns the car on. He places his hand on your thighs and starts driving. The car ride to Brendan's is silent but it's a comfortable silence.
When you get there the both of you get out and knock on Briss's door. He yells to come in. When you get inside Thomas goes to look for Brendan. All of a sudden you hear Thomas yelling at Brendan but he didn't sound mad so you went to go find them. When you got closer you could hear what Thomas was saying " Brendan I texted you 30 minutes ago and you told me you were ready. I swear you are even worse than y/n". "Sorry I'm- wait what? You were at y/n/n's, Why? Is she here? I thought I was picking her up" rambles Brendan, clearly hurt. Oh shit you forgot Brendan was picking you up. Oh well. "Umm" Thomas mutters nervously. But you being the person you are ran into the room and came to Thom's rescue. You cut him off before he can say anything stupid "Geez chill out Bren, I just needed help picking an outfit and no offense but Bords has way better sense of style than you". See this is the exact reason you were worried about telling Brendan about you and Thomas. " Hey that's rude" states Brendan. "Hey I don't make the rules" you tell him.
"Okay can we get going?" Questions Thomas "I don't want to be late". " Okay, okay I'm ready to go on I guess" says Brendan. And with that your trio left to go to the carnival. The ride with Brendan was very different from the one with just Thomas. The 3 of you sat there absolutely belting out Taylor Swift. Thomas drove and Brendan sat in the passenger seat while you were stuck in the back.  After what seemed like hours of listening to Brendans horrible singing you guys arrived at the carnival.
Originally this was supposed to be a date between just you and  Bords but your boyfriend stupidly let it slip that he was going to the carnival  when he was hanging out with “the boys”. Thankfully he didn't include that you were his date but he did tell them he had a date. They were all so invested in finding out who it was but ( to your surprise) Thomas didn't tell them. You thought for sure he would Crack under the pressure. The boys all decide they would come and just be at the carnival "for moral support" as Matty said. So your boyfriend kinda had a problem. You just told him to tell the guys that his date was canceled, which he did, so the guys decided they would just go out together and Brendan wanted to invite you. Hence why you're here right now.
Currently you, Brendan and Thomas were waiting for the rest of the guys to show up. Matty and Trusc were next. And lastly it was Owen and Kent.
"So what are we doing first" asks Brendan to no one in particular. "How about bumper cars?" Suggests Owen. "Sure why not" and all the guys agree except for Thomas. "Maybe me and y/n will go play ring toss. There isn't a very long line. We'll meet up with you in about 20 minutes". "Okay I guess so" says Brendan giving you and Thomas a weird look.
Your group parts ways but Brendan still seems super suspicious. You tug on Thomas's hoodie to get his attention. "What babe" he asks. "We have to be more careful around Bren". "I think we're doing a pretty good job already y/n/n". "Did you not see his face back there" you ask Thomas. "No, why?". "He looked like he was ready to murder you" you tell him " I think he has a suspicion something is going on". "Well he's not wrong" Thomas replies. "Thomas" you whine " I don't think you're getting the point". "Y/n chill out. Why do you care so much if he knows?" Thomas questions. "I-I I just don't know okay" you snap "I'm worried about losing Bren and I'm worried about you losing Brendan and I just- I don't know". You are so close to crying and the only thing keeping you together is the fact that you're at a carnival. A freaking carnival. You're not supposed to cry there.
Thomas takes a deep breath and then says " Baby, I'm so sorry. You're right. If you don't want him to know and you think we need to be more careful we will, I promise".  "I-I think I love you Thomas" you say quickly. "I love you too baby" Thomas replies a little slower pulling you into a soft kiss.
"What the fuck" says a familiar voice behind you. Brendan. Oh shit. You pull away quickly from Thomas leaving a confused look on your boyfriend's face until he turns around and sees what you're looking at. His face falls and you hear him quietly mutter " fuck".
Brendan angrily stomps over to the two of you. "What the hell was that? I trusted you guys. Even when my gut was telling me that the 2 of you we're dating I ignored it cause you guys are my best friends. I thought you would at least tell me and that's not even talking about how I told you Thomas, that y/n was off limits. She is no was my best friend and now I don't even know what to think" Brendan yells.
You couldn't even care that everyone at the carnival heard that. All you care is that you might have lost your best friend since you were 2. "Just don't even try to contact me or I will block you. If I want to hear from you I will text" Brendan whispers walking away, a tear trickling down his cheek. You felt a tear rolling down your own cheek as well. "Wait, who will drive you home?" Thomas yells after Brendan. "Matty and Jacob" he yells back.
"I guess that's our signal to go" says Matty " but congrats you guys are really cute". "Bye" you whisper, afraid that if you talk too much you'll completely break down.  "See you, congrats" Trusc says. Him and Matty leave you,Owen,Kent and Thomas standing there.
"We should probably go but I just wanted to say that you guys are really cute and I hope you guys are happy" Owen pauses and then continues " I'm sure Brendan will come around, and as cliché as it sounds just give him time". Kent nods his head in agreement and with that it's just you and Thomas left.
"So…" Thomas starts and then trails off when he sees you in tears. He immediately wraps his strong arms around you and says nothing.
"Thomas... what I said before was true I really do love you but at least for tonight I need to be alone. I'll call you at some point just not today. I'll just catch a cab home. I'll see you later" you tell Thomas, soaking his hoodie with your tears.
"Wait, I'll give you my keys and you can take my car" your boyfriend tells you. "Are you sure?". "Yes 100%" he tells you. In reality he didn't want you taking the cab but also this was his way to ensure he would see you again.
You take the keys and with one final look over your shoulder you walk away from Thomas, tears streaming down your cheeks.

Prompt Submission by modernurbanfantasy:
I would love some sort of future situation (if/when) Dean, Cas and Sam when they are back at the inn around how smart Sam is. Like we know how smart Sam is (and I think Dean probably does as well) and he wants to get Sam some education (in the church or in some local school) but that is obviously v difficult. So he is all sad thinking about what he would need to do to get Sam into a school and is trying to hide it from Case and then like idk Bobby or something is able to help get Sam some sort of deal with the local school bc they see how smart and talented he is. Idk just an idea.
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE OUTSIDE
To: Pastor Murphy
My name is Sam and I am 10 years old. I saw your pamflet on the phisics of momentem posted on the church bulitin borde. I liked it a lot. I am writing to you becase I think you made a mistake tho. You cubed the largest side of the triangel when I think you meant to square it. If you square it it solves the problem you were talking about. I tride to go in to tell you but the man at the door said no I cant come in becase theres no church today and only the students can go in. And I dont go to the college. I tride to say I need to see you becase you made a mistake and tride to show him but he said i dont know what your talking about. So I am writing this note and leaving it here on the borde for you.
Thank you.
-Sam
Dear Sam,
In all the years I have posted my articles on the church bulletin, I have not once received a response from the local population. I have always continued to post them regardless, just in case anyone is reading them. I was so happy to discover that my efforts have not entirely been in vain.
I have received several letters from my colleagues since the publication of my paper pointing out my error, but none have been so polite as yours. Did you know, none of my own students caught the mistake you so kindly made me aware of? Authority is the bane of progress, I often think, as it seems since I took my position none but the few others in similar positions dare to question whatever I say.
Sam, I am delighted that Whitecreek is blessed with a child as inquisitive and bright as you. It is not often that I meet ten year olds who are interested in physics, much less those who can follow my published papers. If you like physics, I would be happy to meet with you and your parents this coming Sunday to discuss the subject and the possibility of furthering your education.
I am leaving this note with the guard you spoke to last week, and have asked him to give you this letter if he sees you again. If you have another letter for me, you can leave it with him and he will pass it along. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Pastor Murphy,
The Whitecreek College of Natural Sciences
Hello Pastor Murphy,
Sorry I didnt come to the church Sunday I didnt get your letter until now. I dont live in whitecreek we only come once a month to get suplies. I live at the inn outside of whitecreek they call it the willow inn becase it is near a willow tree. Maybe you have heard of it maybe not if you dont travel.
I like everything not just phisics I like biolagy and astranomy and math and I like reading and I like learning and I like looking at bugs and plants and things in the woods. My dad didnt like it when i read tho becase he didnt know how and he said do you think your better than me. I said no but he still got mad at me. But I dont live with him anymore.
I really like learning a lot. I would like to meet you and talk about phisics and other things but I dont have parents I just have Dean and Cas. They run the inn and I help them. They said I can meet with you but Cas said to tell you that we have no money for school becase he said maybe you think Im rich becase I can read and write but we are not rich. I learned to read by myself becase I like it. So I cant go to school and cant further my educatin like you said but I would still like to meet with you please if you want to.
Do you have any books I could look at? I like books but no one has any books. Cas has a book and he let me read it but I read it like a hundred times now and memerized it. If you have any books I could look at I would be very gratful and I would not mess them up I would be very careful. But if you dont have books or dont want me to look at them thats ok i understand i would still like to meet you please. I have a lot of questins. Like is the moon hot or cold. And lots of other things. I used to ask my dad but he yelled at me and sometimes he hit me i think especially when he didnt understand the questin.
It is better now becase Dean was always nice to me and listened to my questins and Cas I dont know him so well yet but he is nicer than dad and he hasnt gotten mad at me for asking questins yet. He says you are very smart Sam and it is good to ask questins which is nice. But even tho Dean and Cas let me ask questins alot they sometimes know the answer but usually they dont. They say you know more than me Sam. I think I do know more than them but only becase they dont know how to read I think everyone could learn everything if they just knew how to read. Thats how i learn things.
Please let me know if you still want to meet with me even tho I didnt see your letter in time. The guard said you are not here today becase you are at a lectchure about math in a diffrent city that is so exciting maybe you can tell me about it when you come back. I will be here again in four weeks I will come and maybe I can see you or maybe there will be another letter eether way thank you I am so happy.
-Sam
To: Sam, ten years old. Willow Inn, outside of Whitecreek.
Dear Sam,
I was truly overjoyed to receive your most recent correspondence. I had worried that I had scared you off or that your interest in science had faded. Clearly, these were merely the fears of an old man, who has become a bit too paranoid in his old age. I have in fact heard of the Willow Inn, and in fact I have stayed at it a few times when traveling that direction for a conference or a lecture. It has been a few years since I last had the pleasure of receiving their hospitality, but I had thought it was run by only a man and his son, who was about 13 at the time. Has the inn changed hands, since I was last there? Or has my faulty memory yet again betrayed my years?
In any case, I have sent a courier with this letter to the inn, in order to avoid missing you yet again when you again make your way into town. Sam, I am absolutely still interested in meeting you, regardless of your financial situation. Your literacy and thirst for knowledge is made all the more impressive by your lack of formal education. I will happily share all the resources I have with you, if you would like to learn. The college’s library has many books on all of the subjects you have expressed interest in. We have collections on physics, biology, astronomy, math, and several thousand others. All of these can be made available to you, and if you are as careful as you promise you will be, you can borrow almost any of them and take them home with you for the month. I would be happy to meet with you and discuss your readings when you make your regular trip to town, and could suggest which books you may want to start with, and which to continue with once you have studied those.
I am sorry that you have had difficulty in the past when you have tried to express your curiosity. Unfortunately there are many in the world who don’t care for knowledge, and resent those of us who seek it. I am glad to hear that you are now living with people who are more understanding of your interests, ignorant though they might be of them. I must say that I am struck by your optimism regarding the natural learning capabilities of the general population. I strongly agree with your statement, which I have quoted here because it means so much to me: “I think everyone could learn everything if they just knew how to read.” This is an opinion which I have always agreed with, and have been trying to convince many of my colleagues of for most of my long career. I am glad we are of the same mind in this area.
In answer to your question: Unfortunately, no one knows for sure if the moon is hot or cold. The prevailing theory currently is that it is cold. The reasoning here is that we are fairly certain it is made of stone, and stone is cold unless otherwise heated. In the absence of an internal heat source, we assume the moon is likely cold to the touch. However, we cannot know this for sure without knowing exactly what it is made of and how this material would be affected by the heat of our sun at its current level of exposure. Perhaps when you grow up, you will be able to figure this out for us.
I look forward to hearing your other questions when we meet, and I of course will be happy to share what I learned at my conference with you. If I am correctly understanding your schedule, I believe you will be in town again two Wednesdays from when this letter should reach you. I will be at the church from dawn to dusk on that day. The guard will know to let you and your family into the building, and we can discuss the possibility of further meetings then. Please give my best to your family, and I wish you the best until then.
Pastor Murphy,
The Whitecreek College of Natural Sciences
Hello Pastor Murphy,
I asked the man to wait for a minit so I can write a letter back and he said he would but I cant take forever he said so I wont. I am so excited to meet you in two weeks I am going to write all of my questins down. I am so excited to see your books I am so excited to learn. Cas said we can all come meet you together and then they will go do shoping and I can stay if thats ok or Dean can stay with me if you want. That is so intresting about the moon i didnt think about that thank you for explaneing. I will be so careful with your books if you let me take them home and I will read anything you say I should I will be good and learn fast and you will be happy you let me learn I promise I will be good and you will not regrat it. Thank you I am so excited sorry this is mesy and there are stains I am crying a lot. I would wait to write later but the man wants me to hurry up. I used to dig in the trash to find anything with words on it to read and Dean would let the man at the church do bad things to him so he could bring me pamflets sometimes. I said dont do that but he did anyway and I was always so happy to get them even tho I said dont do that. Which I felt bad about but I still read the pamflets. Anyway if you let me take lots of books home I will learn everything and I will read to Dean and Cas so they can lean too and I will be very happy. I am so excited thank you I will see you in two weeks.
p.s. i forgot to say. Cas’s dad died and now he runs the inn with Dean who is my friend.
-Sam
To: Sam Winchester, ten years old, of brown hair and brown eyes. Willow Inn, outside of Whitecreek.
Dear Sam,
I have sent the courier along once again with this letter. The suggested coursework I promised you is enclosed. I also again wanted to express how wonderful it was to meet you and your family, and how excited I am to have such a bright young man under my tutelage. Your questions were delightful, and I can only hope that I have answered them to your satisfaction.
Please do reiterate to your friend Dean that it was lovely to meet him as well, and that he will always be welcome in my church regardless of the content of his past.
I look forward to seeing you all again in person next month, and wish you the best until that time comes.

HERE TO ASK YOU ABOUT UR TRANS JOHNNY AND SODA HEADCANONS 🫡
I may have gone a little over bord with these
TW: self harm, suicidal thoughts, transphobia, gender dysphoria, talks of body parts. Everything is very minor but please protect your peace
Sodapop
-first off She cam out to Johnny first on accident Darry had taken Pony to the doctors so nobody was home Soda wanted to test a theory. She was dancing around the house in a mini skirt and a stuffed bra Johnny walked into the house and was like "you wanna talk about this? You don't have to"
-soda literally broke down telling Johnny everything
-poor Johnny has no idea how to comfort people but he just sat there listening and understanding
-she told Pony next they were laying in bed one night and the conversation went like this
S: hay Pone? You know how Johnny was born a girl but hes really a boy?
P: mhm
S: well sometimes i feel like i might be your sister even though ive always kind of been your brother
P: *pulling Soda into a big hug* ok
S: thats it just ok
P: um okay.... I love you?
S: love you too pony
-she told Darry next and he required a lot more information than ponyboy did.
-how long have you known
- she/her?
-who all knows
-is your name still Sodapop
-how do you feel
-do you want me to help you tell anyone
-is there anything i can do to help you?
-after Darry got all the information he needed he just hugged his sister and said "i always wanted a little sister"
-she told Steve next
-he was actually kind of excited
-after she told Steve she started living as a girl 100% of the time
-Twobit and Dally were super confused but they eventually figured it out
-Soda is a woman of extremes she is ether so eurphoric shes ontop of the world or so dysphoric that she can barely get out of bed
-her bad dysphoria days just about kill Steve
-he knows that she's the most beautiful girl in the world and it hurts him that she doesn't know that
-when she's dysphoric he always gives her one of his long shirts to wear and then holds her in bed as long as she needs just telling her shes beautiful and playing with her hair.
-when she's super euphoric you bet your ass Steve is gonna take her out and show her off (if anyone says anything bad they get jumped)
-if/when she goes on E she wears push up bras every day and that makes Steve go crazy
-if you think Soda was hot as a guy than you'll think shes a goddess as a girl
-Steve feels so lucky
-its not all fun and games though
-she gets jumped a lot
-the socs can be very vilont with her
-she tends to silently cry herself to sleep a lot
-her and Johnny get really close
-they actually trade pre transition cloths
-johnny teaches her all of the "girl" stuff he learned in childhood and she teaches him the "guy" stuff
-believe me when i tell you that Soda is a MASTER at tucking
-she wears super tight pants and skirts
-Soda is suuuuper fem
-she loves doing her hair and makeup
-this pisses pony off because she takes forever to get ready in the mornings
-the one bathroom thing starts to become a problem now that Soda takes an hour to get ready
Johnny
-was absolutely terrified to come out to the gang
- he put it off for a long time
-came out to Dall first
-and he only came out at this point because Dally could tell something was bothering his little buddy
"So you gonna tell me whats wrong or am i gonna have to guess?"
-dall was genuinely so mad. Not because he's trans but because Johnny had the gaul to ask if Dally hated him now
-when he told Pony he had a shit ton of questions
-this is mostly the reason Pony didn't have a lot of questions when Soda came out
-johnny is one of those lucky bastards that naturally looks masculine so he passes almost immediately
-he never gets out of his baggy clothes and flanels phase (me projecting)
-every single member of the gang makes him take his binder off after 8 hours
"Comon Dall just a little while longer? Please"
"Jonnycakes we can do this the easy way or the hard way now it dont matter to me but i gotta fealing you're not gonna like the hard way"
-eventually Johnny starts to feel more comfortable around the gang without it
-if he's in public though he doesn't give a fuck what dallys "hard way" is he will be wearing that binder
-while Soda usually experiences her transness through euphoria Johnny usually experiences his through disphoria
Another TW for SH and Suicidal thoughts ill let you know when it ends
-he has a tendency towards SH
-one time dally found him attempting to give himself top surgery and he had actually gotten pretty far
-Dally was horrified he's no stranger to blood and violence but it was really bad
-Johnnys gotten a lot better but there was one point where they hid all the knives and did there best to have somebody with him at all times
-Darry has had to grab his hands and hold him super tight before
-Dally had a really hard time sleeping during this time he made Johnny stay with him and he just watches Johnny sleep.
-Dally was just terrified he was gonna lose Johnny over something as stupid as how the world sees him
Major TW over
-on major dysphoria days he really just wants to be left alone.
-he mainly just sleeps on those days
-the whole gang tries to help but sometimes you just have to feel your feels you know
-he cries because of it sometimes and that just makes the dysphoria worse which makes him cry more (me too me too)
-Johnny absolutely loves it when the boys roughhouse with him cause it makes him feel like they really see him as a guy
Ok i feel like if i keep talking about Johnny im ether gonna start crying or just spill every bit of information about my transness. anyway i hope you enjoyed

THE BAKE-OFF Bill & x-reader
Warnings: virus talk, Swedish (hopefully translated correctly) smutty: teasing, orgasm denial, crop play, talk of male masturbation, outdoor sex.
ch 2
Tumblr media
You lounge by the pool sunshine warming your body but the slight breeze making sure you don’t feel too hot. Bill has been working in his office on a script idea he had thought about years ago. Now being at home since the virus closed down filming of all his acting projects, he feels it’s a great time to work on this. You are of course supportive of anything he does, so leaving him alone to work four to six hours a day isn’t a big deal.
You are kind of relishing a bit of alone time anyway. He had done three projects back to back and you barely saw him for six months. A weekend, maybe a week, once for almost two weeks. You were starving for each other when he thankfully made it home from Ireland just before they closed the boarder where you lived. You both broke down in tears when he finally made it home.
The first two weeks you made the most of the time together. Things you discussed on facetime were brought to life. He couldn’t wait to restrain you with his favorite ties. He teased you for a day and a half. Brought you to just the edge of your orgasm before stopping. Telling you, you didn’t dare cum without his permission. If you did, he warned he might not touch you for a week and you would just have to watch as he pleased himself like he was still at work.
Then once he did let you have the orgasm you begged him for, and yeah it got almost so unbearable you were ready to use your safe word, he gave you several. Barely letting your body rest before you were over the edge again. He was such a master of your body and mind.
He had no problem when you came downstairs in a black leather bustier with a skirt on your hips. A crop held in your hand. A sinister grin on your lips.
Bill licked his lips as he looked at you, “And what are you thinking of doing with that crop, Mistress?”
“That depends on you, Bill.” You smacked it against your hand making it crack. You loved the sound and the fact it made him jump a little. “Are you a good boy or a bad boy?”
His eyes zoning in on yours, “I’m a bad boy, Mistress. A very bad boy that needs nothing but punishment from you.”
You walked over to him. Lifted his chin with the crop, “be careful what you are trying to get is actually what you want.”
“Oh, I don’t want it,” Bill noted. “I deserve it Mistress. I’ve masturbated maybe three times or more without waking you so we could enjoy cumming together. I know how you hate for me to get off without you when I’m home.”
You sting his left thigh with the crop. “You better fucking never do that again.” You sting his right thigh. “I don’t care what time of my sleep cycle it is young man, you do not do anything alone at home. Even if I just watch. I should always be involved. Do you understand?” She stings the inside of upper right thigh.”
“Yes, Mistress.” he assures you, “It’s won’t happen again.”
You slap his bulge with the crop, not nearly as hard as you did his thighs but enough to make him jump up.
“FUCK,” he screams. “Sorry, Mistress.”
You smirk, “You will be. Cloths off.”
“Yes, Mistress.” He removed his cloths.
You run the crop down his naked body. You pay close attention to his shaft as it twitches when the cool leather moves over it. You lift the crop bring it up high. You start to bring it down on his cock.
“You won’t…” His eyes wide as you stop at the last second. “Fuck.” His cock spring up in relief you didn’t actually hit it, excitement that he thought you could have. His heart races.
“Come up stairs Bill,” You start to walk away with a big grin on your face. When you get up stairs I’ll decide if you will eventually take care of that hard on or I’ll ride you until you can’t breathe.”
“Yes, Mistress,” He followed obediently.
You opted for the ride. Smacked his chest with the crop as you did until he went hard enough for you. And Bill purposely started slow, barely moving to satisfy you just so he was punished more.
But you had also purposely annoyed him during that first two week to earn some punishment. Spankings so hard your ass had his handprint. It was glorious pleasure, pain and fear when he went all out choking you right before you both came.
By week three of your couple’s quarantine neither of you wanted to get out of bed. You just snuggled. You took turns making each other breakfast, lunch and dinner you could eat in bed. You were both very happy and satisfied.
As you snuggled one evening Bill told you all about the script he wanted to write and hopefully get made into a movie.  He talked to jake Gyllenhaal about possibly producing and also Joe and  Anthony Russo. He discussed it with his brother Alex but having his family help him make it just seemed wrong. Alex would be a last resort if no one else would.
By week four Bill had set up a work schedule for himself. He felt good getting back to something work related. Not that he didn’t enjoy every minute he got to spend with you now, but he missed creating a character. He loves acting and creating with such passion he needed it in his life. And you completely understood that.
The book you were reading before you dozed laid on your chest. Your thumb holding your spot. The rest of your fingers rest on the spine. Your other hand draped over the edge of the lounger still lightly holding the glass with just a sip of red wine left in it. You feel his lips first on your cheeks. Then his lips to yours.
Without opening your eyes, you reach for him dumping the wine glass. The little that was left just swishes in the side. You feel the heat from his body on yours. The book falling on the ground as he pushed it out of the way.
Bill is dressed professionally incase he facetimes with associates about projects. White button up and grey slacks that feel rough against the bare parts of your skin since you are in his favorite bathing suit.
“Not sure this lounger was made to hold us both, Princess.” He murmured near your ear. His hips grind into yours.
“Then we break it,” you muttered. Your pelvis moves up to connect with him again.
Bill reaches to take the bottoms of your swimsuit off. That is why he likes this suit the most. It covers enough to make you comfortable, yet it is two pieces for him to easily get off you when he wants. Then he undid his pants pulling them down just enough so he could move to satisfy his hunger.
Your legs hung over each side of the lounger. Toes able to touch the ground. Arms wraps under his hold his back tightly as he penetrated you. You had such a perfect rhythm together. You whimpered under his power. Bill breathed heavier with every thrust.
Because you have high stone walls around the property and a covering that allows the sun to shine through brightly but deflects photo shutters or video by planes that used to fly over constantly, you are safe to do whatever you want. Planes do still fly over from time to time but since they can’t take pictures that end up in some magazine or online porn hub you both are fine with them watching on occasion.
His thrusts got deeper. You moaned out louder. Breathing heavily as the pleasure built up. Bill was practically growling as your walls tightened around him.  He has you right on the edge when he lets his seed spray… “fff FUCK” his eyes roll in his head.
“Oh, oh YES,” You cry out as your orgasm hits.
The lounger breaks. You both laughed.
“I guess you were right, Bill.” You moved a sweaty curl of hair off his face. “Sorry.”
“mmm huh,” He murmured looking into your eyes happily. “I can order another one. Maybe one that will hold us next time.” He kisses your lips before getting up to put his pants back on all the way. “I think we need a treat today.”
“That wasn’t a treat?” you giggled.
He chuckled, “Yeah, that’s always a treat, Princess. But what I mean is some homemade sweetness.”
“Oh, I could bake you some apple pie tarts or chocolate chip cookies?” You suggested.
“Jag borde baka kanelbullar, vaniljhjärtor till din prinsessa,” he rattled off in his native tongue.
You just stared up at him. Your bottoms back on. You might just need to attack him again if he kept speaking Swedish. You picked up a little Swedish from being around him and his family for holidays, so you knew he wanted to bake something Swedish.
“Alright Skarsgard,” You purposely pronounce his name very American. “Bake off is on. You make whatever it is you suggested. And I make some American standards you will die to taste more of.”
“That’s Skarsgård,” He shakes his head. “Its on and it will be you who is dying to taste more.”

Could I get some content about Smoke when available? Thanks!
This one was long overdue, sorry! Although, for future reference, it would be helpful if you mention what kind of headcanons you’re most interested in: romantic and/or nsfw ones, family hcs, about how he gets along with other ops or with the rest of the SAS, etc. So please excuse if these are a bit all over the place 😅
- This man hasn’t planned a damn thing in his life. Joining the military? He was bored and wanted a challenge. Bottling an illegal and highly dangerous gas to use in missions? Seemed like a good idea at the moment.Adopting a kid and becoming a single father? A spur of the moment decision, and to this day he swears it’s one of the best things he did in his life!
- He might be a thrill seeker and do the most reckless stunts all the time, but as soon as he sees or hears of his daughter doing anything remotely risky, he feels his blood pressure rise. Smoke’s fully aware of how hypocritical that attitude is, but damn it, nobody told him that being a dad meant he would get a lot more protective than he already was.
- Despite what his edgy sense of humor and his selfish tendencies might make people think, he’s not detached at all. In fact, Smoke is a ride or die type of person, he’s gonna defend and stick with his friends no matter what. The problem is that he’s an extremely social person and some people might have trouble decyphering if Smoke considers them just friendly acquainances or a true friend. When it comes to the other SAS member tho, he considers them family.
- Surprisingly thoughtful when getting gifts, he would do anything to get a truly happy smile from his loved ones. And while his surprises might borded on being a little too wild and/or risky, they’re also very personal and thought out.
- He used to tell her daughter stories based on real life anecdotes, since he’s rubbish at coming up with suitable fairy tales. So she grew up hearing about uncles Mike and Mark and Seamus exploits, and how her dad saved the day. And one time she met them all and parroted back one of Smoke’s stories, their reactions were priceless. “Oi you dolt, it wasn’t me who got stuck in that barbed wire fence! I was the one getting your arse out of trouble!”

Le chien et le lapin / The Dog and the Rabbit (Norris Mitchell, Scott)
This is about the dog and the rabbit. They were good friends in those days. So they went together. There’s a man who hired them both. They worked. So the man paid each one with a check. And they left.
They arrived at a place where there was a river to cross. The dog says, “Lapin, how are we going to cross this water?”
Lapin says, “Put your check under your tail and swim to the other side.”
So the dog looks at him, he says, “What do you mean?”
So Lapin did this. Lapin put his check and then he did the same and they took off swimming. But then a wave came along, a wave that swamped them. So he went to see if he could find his check but it was gone. The water had taken his check.
Lapin was over there. He says, “Hurry up!”
So he took off behind Lapin, but Lapin was on the hill. The dog says, “You know what my problem is? I’ve lost my check!”
“Oh,” Lapin says, “you big damn imbecile! I told you to put it under your tail. Then the water would not have taken your check. Well,” he says, “that’s really something!” Lapin took off and Lapin has a white tail. So Lapin lifted his tail and took off.
He looked at Lapin, he says, “You know something? He’s the one who stole my check!” And he took off after him.
And that’s why he chases Lapin to this day.
I have long had a passion for the French language and several examples of literature in French. Today I’m commencing a project highlighting books or other writing in French from around the globe I’ve decided to call Francophone Writers From 50+ Lands. Besides scouring through what is out there, what is further translated to English (since I blog mostly in English), the first question is —where in the world to begin? The answer to that is also for me more personal. For my first post I knew I would head to the state of Louisiana in the United States, because part of my family hails from Louisiana and there is Cajun in my family tree.  So, today I’m highlighting the book Cajun and Creole Folktales: The French Oral Tradition of South Louisiana. A collection from numerous storytellers be they family or acquaintances of folklorist Barry Jean Ancelet he recorded over two decades, transcribed as well as translated to English in 1994 which reflect some of the oral traditions and deep cultural histories in part of Louisiana. As the book in its introductory chapters begins with a little history and language background among other information, if I might be likewise indulged, I’d like to offer a good dose of context as well.
The United States of America while English in its American variation is predominant nationally, has no official language declared by its federal government. However, many states or territories do have official language(s) or grant other forms of recognition to a variety of tongues. As of the last statistics available in 2018, over 1.2 million identified as speakers of French. Louisiana is one cradle for which you will find such in greater number. Though today the state signs may declare “Bienvenue”, as well as “Welcome” along with other bilingual examples to be found, the presence of what broadly can be called Louisiana French along with related French-based creole language and the population who speak such is in large part a history of adversity.
As will be evident during the course of my project on literature in French across the globe, France as a colonial empire (and others) was a force that has left a marked legacy across the world. During these expansions many would put down roots in other soil, some willingly, others much less so. In North America what would eventually become a sizeable section of the United States with the Louisiana Purchase (an area so named after King Louis XIV when it was claimed in the 17th century) Indigenous populations, colonists, adventurers, refugees, indentured servants, comfort women, free people of colour and slaves all played a role in La Louisiane. Creole would come into fashion as a designation of those born in French colonial territory instead of those who arrived from France and elsewhere, eventually taking on multi-faceted connotations. In language when disparate groups speaking very different native tongues need to communicate, creole languages can arise as their descendants first take up the pidgin giving it native speakers, which over time as well equals further transformation. This was also the case in the Americas and elsewhere colonial empires tread.
To the north in what are the Maritime provinces of Canada and parts of Quebec as well as New England there was also the colony of L’Acadie, made up of settlers from France as well as Scots and naturally the Indigenous peoples. When tensions once again led to full out war between the British colonies and New France, a massive deportation of Acadians over nine years occurred. A devastating event with thousands of estimated deaths, a number were able to avoid expulsion or resettle but, largely scattered to various colonies, Britain or, France a significant population settled in the Lower Louisiana beginning in 1764 (which recently had transferred under Spanish rule). Forming a new community of which some members were or did rise in economic class, Acadians with their own variety of French alongside other groups of various ancestry would ultimately engage in a level of acculturation. From Acadian comes the term Cajun (Cadien). (And in the case where etymology is unclear at least one other controversial term I grew up with though, Cajun itself was a slur based on class.) Though the use of Cajun, particularly since its more recent inception as an identity has expanded and like Creole is not necessarily exclusive and at times frictious.
Greater changes in language, culture and identity would be inevitable when land and peoples are folded under yet another country, one also tested in war and coming into its own essentialism and imperialism. The Deep South as a whole to even people from other parts of the US can sometimes feel very foreign, like a different country all together. But it is still not a monolith or immune to wider influences. In Louisiana, which achieved statehood in 1812, methods of Americanization, assimilation and xenophobia took greater hold over successive generations as more new settlers and English forced itself to prominence, along with great economic and social upheaval. French was slowly stripped of its standing in public life and for a period in the early 20th century children could be physically punished for speaking French in school. (This should be noted as not unique since other languages such as or those of Indigenous peoples, German and Spanish to name a few have also been a target in educational institutions and of various laws. Varieties of English viewed as less than Standard American English can be frowned on and therefore punitive measures incurred too.) The 26th President of the United States, Teddy Roosevelt didn’t exactly reflect the truth of America in his words that the nation was no polyglot boarding house and had room for but one identity for its citizens (American) and one language (English), so much as echo its bigotry. Though some would discover French came in handy as they found themselves on other shores for the first time as their nation joined in the World Wars. Even by such time as Standard French came back into Louisiana schools at increasing levels as the US began ever slowly to recognize the diversity within its borders, experience with local French was still considered something worse than never encountering any French.
This history explains a great decline in the population of speakers and why today such varieties are considered threatened or endangered, especially a contact language like Kouri-Vini which has longer suffered stigma and lack of support because of various politics. If one is looking one will find more than English but, the last time I was in Louisiana a mere 1-4% of the population in the parishes I was at were speakers of any French, though other parishes may by most recent surveys boast a figure as high as 18%. Statewide it is a question now of whether the French speaking population numbers will dip below six digits (specific varieties ~25,000). For Kouri-Vini perhaps 10,000, though people are engaged in (re)learning it today. Truly, it is not the same world my newly married mum first encountered stepping off a plane in Louisiana in the 1960s where French was immediately and easily overheard. (Though in other ways change is good and necessary.) Nevertheless, promotion and preservation work has been undertaken over the last half century (first going back over 100 years now) by both larger organizations, groups (Houma people for one) and individuals, some universities even boasting Cajun and Creole programs. Along with a renaissance through creative outlets in literature, music and cuisine; interest from Francophones outside the US has further helped bolster efforts, trade and attracted tourism (accompanied as well by worries of the effects of commodification in these so-called culture industries).
All of which is why the collection Cajun and Creole Folktales is something of a jewel, even when experiencing such material face to face is preferable to the page. Of worth for anyone interested in folklore with its detailed academic annotations and analysis, further appealing in in the examination of the morphosis and connections in the stories but, also more accessible through the personal insight of its collector. From short to lengthy pieces representing farcical jokes, complex magic tales, legends imbued with old superstitions, historical based stories sometimes not shying from horror along with popular tall tales and mélange of animal tales (some of the latter two are familiar from my childhood, though apparently animal tales are told less these days I like to think of them as timeless), all bear witness to still breathing languages and cultures. This book of folktales is a bit of knowledge, fun, comedy, the past and nostalgia wrapped together.
Cajun and Creole Folktales: The French Oral Tradition of South Louisiana collected by Barry Jean Ancelet is available in print and digital from University Press of Mississippi

Quote
In the early eighties, in a class about cinema, if I remember correctly, Deleuze was interrupted by a rather fraught student, perhaps one of Guattari’s patients, or a former La Borde inmate, amidst such a heterogeneous audience, composed of philosophers, architects, painters, drug addicts, vagrants.… He asked Deleuze why people were so alone, why there was such a lack of communication nowadays, and unraveled his sad story about how we are victims of abandonment and helplessness. And Deleuze, sensing that his class was being driven off track, replied politely, before proposing a small break: the problem is not that we are alone, but rather that we are not left alone enough. Indeed, Deleuze never tired of writing that we suffer from an excess of communication, that we are ‘riddled with pointless talk, insane quantities of words and images,’ so that it is no longer a question of making ‘people express themselves, but rather to provide small vacuoles of solitude and silence in which they might eventually find something to say.’ To conjure the gentleness and the right to have nothing to say is perhaps the condition ‘so that one might form the rare, or even rarer, thing that might be worth saying.’
