Oh while I'm here and posting stuff. I've recently gone from collecting images for my own purposes, to creating a Hisui/PLA centric archive with as much official art as I can get my grubby little hands on. If anyone has or knows about any obscure official art or merch with art on it, I'd be verrrry grateful for any help anyone has!

And, does anyone have a preference on where the archive be stored? I want it to be easily accessible to the general public, while still being viable long term. My fallback for stuff like this in the past has been google drive, but if anyone has any better ideas I'd love to hear :) tbh I was considering my neocities page, given how little I trust google these days

Mount Huaguo (better know as Flower Fruit Mountain) is actually still safe and flourishing. This is due to Wukong having erecting a barrier and sealing the mountain as well as it's people inside their own little pocket dimension where neither Heaven nor the Mortal realm can touch them. It's also the reason his staff is 'lost' as he used it to seal and maintain the barrier around it. He hasn't been home in eons now and doesn't have any plans to really return, feeling like a disgrace to his people and thinking they're better off without him. At the very least he knows they are safe and flourishing even without him, having made sure before he left and assuring that no one would be able to pass through the barrier either. To anyone on the outside, it just looks like a stretch of desert and even if they get closer they won't pass through the 'entrance'. The staff also just looks like a simple wooden stick in the ground or such, only those who are 'allowed' to enter can see it as Ruyi Jingu Bang or even enter the barrier surrounding the mountains. Which isn't many.

#i think I know where this one comes from!#there’s a line early on in Heir to the Empire (legends thrawn trilogy) where an Imperial character working with Thrawn#wonders whether ENDOR might have gone differently had Thrawn been in command#which of course has nothing to do with the TIE defender because it doesn’t exist yet#and missed the fact that this is from an imperial guy who is (1) pretty biased and (2) has NONE OF THE CONTEXT THE AUDIENCE HAS#like he knows that the Death Star went down over Endor and the Emperor and Vader with it#but that’s about it. he doesn’t know about the whole family thing between Luke and Vader and he doesn’t know how the Emperor died#because even if Thrawn was there Vader still would’ve taken Luke to the Death Star and still ended up killing the emperor#maybe it could’ve impacted how/if the Death Star was actually destroyed. but with the Emperor and Vader dead Endor would’ve been a loss for#the empire regardless#so the origin of this idea is just a really underinformed guy musing nostalgically. it wouldn’t have actually changed that much#and of course that’s Endor specifically nothing to do with Yavin and the rest of the war at all

hell if thrawn was at endor he probably would have also died

Thrawn would not have saved the empire had he been around during the original trilogy

This is such a common line of thought I see, that his presence single handedly turns everything around (literally this is just the qui-gon lives thing but evil except the people who push this idea are thrawn stans who can never acknowledge that he is evil), usually because "tie defender is better ship therefore victory inevitable"

There are a few things wrong with this

Regarding the tie defender, aside from the fact that it was still in development a year before Yavin and that even when development was done it would take time to mass produce the craft and train pilots for it, a single weapon does not win a war, not even a "superior" one (see the tiger tanks of wwii), how you use it matters, sure thrawn could use the defenders effectively, but not every imperial commander could, and that's not even addressing how rotten to the core the empire is as a system, or how having small ships without hyperdrives is a deliberate choice by the empire to breed dependency and curb independence in pilots and that the defender flies in the face of this foundational mindset of the empire

Secondly is the nature of the fight against the empire itself

This is not a conventional war, this is a fantasy war (dressed in Sci fi), the way to win is via heroes defeating the evil overlord with friendship, trust, and a little magic

And that precisely why Thrawn lost in Rebels!

He only looked at things as a military conflict, a war of resources, strategies, and tactics, that is why he dismissed Ezra acting as a Jedi to be a losing choice, and why he was so blindsided by the end result
