So having like actually masculine role models who, ILL ADMIT IT HERE THEY ARENT GREAT THEYVE KICKED TOBYS ASS (and vice versa, the violence goes both ways), are typically more understanding of his situation, who don’t mock or kick him when he’s down, trust that he’s actually strong enough to handle himself, teach him important life skills, pat his back when he needs it, tell him they’re proud of him . etc etc. I think it means a lot to Toby. I like to think he finds himself modeling himself after them, even though he(and everyone else) insists they’re also assholes who think they’re better than the rest . N he really misses them when they ditch Alabama

It’s at the times between recording scenes where you really get a glimpse at your lover.

His sweat stained hair and tear stained cheeks from a rather intense scene never get old. You were feeling rather fond as he made his way over to you, falling into your director’s chair and heaving a heavy breath. The only one other than you allowed to sit in it.

For a mere moment, you both simply look at each other. You guys were on break so a few conversation topics come to mind, it wasn’t often you guys got to speak as lovers rather than coworkers during work. And while they’re all things you’d like to talk to Scaramouche about, you realize you don’t need to force conversation with him.

There’s a hue of weariness that shows in Scara’s eyes, but you can tell that he’s happy. He’s doing what he’s been striving to do for all his years at university, so of course he is.

You search his dark eyes for his thoughts, too. When your eyes meet Scara’s he let’s out a tired smile.

“I missed you,” he easily says. The words come out easier than they would’ve years ago.

Your heart skips a beat, even years later.

“How? We’ve been working together all day,” you say.

“Do I need a reason to miss the person I love?” Scara scoffs, looking away from you to study the script he brought with him.

It isn’t the first time Scaramouche had told you that he loves you, but it’s never stopped holding the same weight it did the first time he’d ever said it.

It’s a rare type of love. The kind that exists so rarely for people in this industry and that lead lives similar to your guys’.

His loves makes you feel alive everyday. And Scara should know it, you should tell him more often—even if it’s rather dramatic for midday on set for their most recent project. It’s something you’d bring up at night that you two could laugh about in bed. Even if it catches Scara off guard.

But Scaramouche’s love caught you off guard, too, and every second you got the privilege to spend with him was a gift.

And as you stare at him, fiddling with the sleeves of his costume and eyebrows scrunched as he mouths his lines, you couldn’t help but feel your heart grow heavy.

“I suppose you don’t,” you reply, a minute too late, but Scara still chuckles at your response as he tosses the script aside.

“What? You’re not going to say it back?” he teases, “And I thought I was the emotionally constipated one.”

“Oh, fuck off,” you mutter, hitting him on the shoulder, “I love you, too. I guess.”

The other two 'people' in the house, Nyen and Nyon, you thought you could trust but apparently not. You try to avoid them both, mostly Nyen because of the times he threatened you. Although Nyon doesn't do much, it's best to not engage in any way. Why am I describing things like this is your diary?

Actually you might have a diary. But hide them well or else everyone and I mean EVERYONE will read it if you misplaced it anywhere. Randal loves to snoop especially around you. Luther says it's to get to know you better but like a parent, he's a liar because if he reads anything he doesn't like, he'll punish you accordingly. Nyen can use it to manipulate you and make fun of you but Nyon reads it... And that's it. He doesn't do much about it but he's bold so he will gave it back to you even if it's open and in the middle of reading it.

After maybe weeks or even months if time manages to slip later because if you cannot make sense of time, how can you even know the time - you're getting use to it. Not comfortable of course but it's to the point where you aren't actively scared to even look behind you.

You know what, you should be just a little bit grateful that you are Randal's 'friend' while also being under him by being a pet because if you remember in Lucid 14, it shows that Randal likes to keep parts of his 'friends' as the bible recruiter dudes were leaving(But it could also imply that it's his first time doing it while alive or smth). So yeah that's one way to lose skin.

Hii, I hope you you're doing well I wanted to know if you have any thoughts/opinions on the team 7 vs team taka debate that I see some people get very passionate about😅

oh this is like opening pandora’s box. i have alot of thoughts on it but i will try to keep it simply.

my honest opinion is that both sides are veryy biased.

team 7 stans fear to admit that sasuke cared for team taka even if there’s proof he did because most of team 7 stans are shippers and shippers tend to not like admitting that sasuke does care for other people outside of the character they ship him with. which is not new i mean i see people claiming sasuke loves more naruto/sakura than he ever loved itachi and it’s just not true. again, it’s just a shipping thing i see because i assume they like the “character hates everyone but you trope ❤️” when it definitely doesn’t fit sasuke. they act like sasuke had no choice to be a team with taka when he himself chose them because he wanted them with him. (ik this gets ss especially heated after sasuke rejected sakura when she wanted to come with him. just to later sasuke pick a team that included a girl in it lol) it’s just annoying and honestly pathetic so o ignore them all the same.

on the other hand, team taka stans claim than sasuke never cared for team 7 post part 1 and act like naruto’s feelings are completely one sided. and while it’s true sasuke cared for sakura and kakashi in part 1 and later managed to cut his bonds with them, this is not the case with naruto because sasuke HIMSELF states it. taka also gets too fanonized because ppl see taka supporting blindly sasuke and think that it’s how team 7/naruto should act when that completely ignores that well, sasuke’s path is not free of flaws and his self-harming actions aren’t really smth to ignore. again, taka’s devotion for sasuke is a very blind one, while naruto’s devotion can be a kind of selfish at times, it at least keeps him awake when sasuke is doing smth that’s self destructive. also as perfect as ppl say taka are, they ignore that sasuke doesn’t return the same devotion to his teammates. he’s not completely honest with his goals (as we see him only telling obito in private that he wanted to slaughter everyone in konoha and prior he had been just feigning in front of taka when he said he just wanted the take down the elders only.), he also left and cut them off during the 5 kage arc and he didn’t have any intention of going to seek them again, only after they seek him first he accepted them back to help them. and like Yes, sasuke cares for them as a team as he did for team 7, since we can see him fighting for them in their fight against bee with the same determination he wanted to fight for team 7 in their fight against gaara. but there’s still a disconnect between them. and this is ignored by stans that also blatantly deny that naruto is special to sasuke in a way nobody but itachi is even when sasuke himself is the one saying this and individualizing naruto from team 7 in a way he doesn’t do with any other in team 7 AND in team taka.

so to put it simply, sasuke has show care for both teams but neither team is perfect and there’s things to criticize in each of them and personally it’s what makes them fun! i get having preference everyone has it but this discourse just has both sides acting biased and denying sasuke’s actual characterization to fit either of their agendas

Ok so making this its own post but, cTommy as St. Jude the patron saint of hope and lost causes.

So as a martyred saint I'm assuming that St. Jude's lost causes applies to like, causes that you know are doomed but still hold on to anyways, and in a broader Catholic sense I’m assuming it probably means holding onto your faith in God even at risk of persecution. Whatever. But I also love the interpretation of lost causes as causes that other people have given up on. Causes that were left behind by all but you. I think both ways to interpret that fits absolutely for Tommy. Tommy who believes in causes until the end. Tommy who held on to Wilbur, to Tubbo, to L'manburg until there was nothing to hold onto, even AFTER there was nothing left to hold on to. Tommy who refused to give up on Wilbur even when everyone else did, who trusted that he wouldn't press the button (even if he did, weeks later), who followed him around after revival, and when asked why said it's not about giving him second chances, "It's about making sure you don't give up on the people you care about." (credits to @angry-ursidae for the transcript!)

Also very fitting that St. Jude was one of the 12 apostles, the ones who founded the Church after Jesus' ascension. Tommy who was there from the beginning, who was there to found L’manburg and believed in it wholeheartedly, who died for it even before he could see what it would become. Planting seeds in a garden you’ll never get to see.

tomorrow coming means he did vote for the disbanding of the union, it means all the kids he loves are angry and done with him, tomorrow means everyone is gone from his life. (in his pov).

so katherine has a job with this song. she has to refute those fears, finally admit that she’s fallen for him, which means he won’t be alone, even if he leaves. he’ll be in her heart, he’ll have a home there, even if he were to get on a train the next day. she initially comes into this scene demanding something of him, but when she learns his actions were done out of this loyalty and his fear for others & himself… wow. “you snuck up on me, jack kelly. i didn’t even see it coming.” YOU KNOW?? going from “cocky little sonofa” to “of course there’s something” is wild for her

she needs to see him FULLY and completely by this point. idt she does until now, it has to be here for this scene & song to mean anything. this is her almost like. protecting his scared little heart. she says she’s in love (he doesn’t), she assures him it’s okay that it might be for a short time, that it’s random, that things like this CAN be something that happens any day. she offers terms that are accessible to jack, that can let him love her. belief conquers fear, undermines it, and if there’s something reporters are good at it’s getting to the root of something. she just has to take an angle that she didn’t expect from herself.

i think honestly the only line that genuinely bugs me abt this song is jack calling her “an angel come to save him”…. especially cause that boy ain’t white anymore we’ve grown passed that as a community so now it’s like. eugh like SURE, sure, but jack u did lead the strike. with ur boys. and ur leadership skills. and ur love for them. so i think this can be said as a knowing tease and she can wave it off and blush and whatever. u can make it cute i promise.

smth abt uksies that was stellar (wow what a shocker rizz is praising uk newsies…) was how emotive and present bronté’s kath was thru this song, she reacted to every word jack said to her. as long as she’s present i think this scene and consequentially the song can work. u just cannot forget abt katherine’s stakes and her journey of learning abt who jack kelly really is. it’s not a bad song bc it’s a love song it’s bad bc it’s not…. actually about how THEY fell in love. the courage and fear line from seize the day should’ve had a reprise moment here bc that’s what their relationship is based on.

if newsies rly was a love story i think that would be the proper theme through their whole arc together. jatherine is about fear and courage. and so is the show. tbh. just saying

Considering what happens HAPPENS, that probs would have happened REGUARDLESS of if he was woken up or not. The change really is down to whether or not Shadow would A. Even be around for it. B. Be the one to wake Link up and have that burden on his mind or C. Just let shit happen.

Shadow is putting a ton of pressure on Dark to give answers or be helpful AND CORRECT but like...dude Dark doesn't know, he's guessing too lmfao.

Shadow makes what I consider a very foolish choice which was waking Link up.

Dark held back the explosion aspect but he is here to have fun first so uhhhh...Well he DID say it'd be funny to him and not Shadow.

Shadow defaults to blaming Dark Link "Damn demon" which...Shadow learn some accountability.

Panel by panel breakdown cause stuffs getting jucy:

1- Interesting outfit choice Link. It's the one he wore when he was a bit younger. So he's got a younger mindset when waking up. Which is just sad.

2- his outfit changes to half blue half green with a purple sleeve, his hands are all sorts of wrong and mish mashed with red and purple nails. His eyes also have the wrong color. His body is distorting all over the place...Interesting.

3- Shadow you shouldn't have said anything. The coward's hiding too lmfao he knows he fucked up.

4- Safe to say he's not very happy.

Link's distorting and glitching is based on video game glitches. Which is fun because: LOZ is a video game.

There's something distinctly haunting and uncanny about buggy/glitchy game assets and I wanted to capture it here.

Like the reality of four people being forced into one body is quite horrifying and the idea of them just bugging out unable to process how many thoughts there are is overwhelming. Literally like overloading a computer or gaming system.

There's also something to be said about how he fully breaks after seeing Shadow Link.

This is brought up later so I'll expand upon it later but the fact literally the only words Shadow Link spoke to LINK was "I'm the hero Link" or smth like that is hysterical.

Really all of them are just kinda, shoved in there. Unable to truly escape and they're NOT HAPPY about it.

Blue specifically is trying to get out as we'll know later and we get more context on his thoughts about this ordeal from the Darkblue chapter... But visually you can see Link's got two faces and it remains consistent that that's Blue.

Which, is terrifying.

There's also the underlying horror that the "Why" Link is back in one body isn't truly addressed but we'll get more into that later.

The sad thing is that Link's reaching out for help and Shadow responds by screaming in terror lmfao.

Cause Link seems monstruous at the moment but the reality of the situation is he's very clearly conscious and scared. He's reaching out to the only person he can, which is Shadow.

I think this might be my favorite design of Link in this state. It's just horrific to look at. The eyes bleeding onto both his faces which are cracked like mirrors so you can't tell what he's looking at. He has Vio and Blue's legs sticking out of his back, and entire extra head forcing its way off his main one, it's hard to tell from these but his skin is glitching in both Red and Blue's separate skin tones (Blue's being a bit darker and Red's being lighter)

His tunic is pitch black which, black absorbs all wavelengths of light and reflects none...Literally keeping it trapped haha.

Yeah. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING.

Anyway, Link/Green, Vio and red are all reaching out to shadow but blue is suspiciously absent haha.

Them grabbing onto Shadow is smth Vio would do...

The four sword's lil gem thingy is glitched to shit too. Each colored piece being a different size. Green's is noticeably larger while Blue and Red's are about the same size. Vio's is the smallest.

Shadow's hat is doing that thing Dark does when he's upset where it clings to his body.

Yeah feeling like you can't do anything would be a feeling you fall into frequently being trapped as a shadow.

Noah hates getting dirty so normally he would just insult or threaten said person.

Funny enough… he thinks about it all the time.

He imagines a future with you all the time, he wants to get married. He wants a big traditional wedding. He wants you. Plus, it makes it harder for you to leave.

At first children aren’t something he wants. Kids? They’re just brats that will take your attention. Plus, animals are good enough kids. Actually, they’re better. Then, you either babysit your sister/brother’s child or maybe your baby cousin and he gets baby fever.

He’ll tease you for sure, but he will be soft.

Noah loves making you laugh as much as he loves making you cry. Matter of fact he loves it more… a lot more. Even if he has some sadistic tendencies he does want what’s best for you. Which just so happens to be you staying with him.

There’s nothing Noah likes to do more than teach you things, if you ask a dumb question he will answer it… just prepare to be absolutely ridiculed for it.

Noah loves reading to you, especially when you two are cuddling and about to fall asleep. He knows you are listening to the very end! He appreciates it too!

He’ll start helping you out with test stuff, sharing more information about him (probably not), if he doesn’t need to kidnap you he would love just doing acts of service.

You know that absolute adoring look he gives Emma? Yeah, when he thinks you’re not looking he’ll give you that. Noah’s blunt yet shy, well, more so he doesn’t want people to think he’s soft… sorry?

He’s sweeter.

A lot sweeter, more than you expected especially when time goes on. Noah’s even softer when you are around which shocks everybody… especially Owen but Owen’s just glad his little buddy has found love.

Speaking of Owen, that man is your life line. Noah only allows Owen to be platonically affectionate with you (hugging, high fives, etc.) without getting too jealous.

Owen helps Noah calm down, and also helps you feel safer if you’ve been kidnapped.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

Taking away rights, smothering, and as much as he doesn’t love it: isolation.

Noah doesn’t love isolating you! You’re his beloved but if you misbehave too much you need to be taught a lesson. Just because he doesn’t like doing it doesn’t mean he won’t be cruel… he will… just in secret he’ll cry and miss you.

“Noah, I am sorry! Just let me out! We can even cuddle! Please…”

“Please? That’s pathetic. I don’t want to cuddle with you, stop whining. If you didn’t want this you shouldn’t have tried to escape three times this week.”

He’ll then go into his room and bawl his eyes out.

But he can wait another day or two for when you’re punishments over.

If you decide to be petty and refuse his affections after your punishment he’ll smother you. Correction, he’ll bind your hands and legs and then smother you.

… if needed he’ll break your ankles/legs but he doesn’t like it, maybe snuggles will make it better? Why’s it not working? This was your fault, you should be glad he’s giving you affection to make you feel better. If needed afterwards, to make you like him again he’ll get Owen.

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?

This is basically part 2 of Noah’s punishments! Explanation of his go-to!

Space, privacy, and maybe freedom if he already kidnapped you he’ll take away more of your freedom somehow, maybe he’ll lock you up in his room.

The more you misbehave the more you will lose. However, if you start behaving he’ll reward you with more rights. He’ll even take you to go on a walk with him!

Just… behave… please…? He’s not asking for too much, right? Just your love and attention! All of the time.

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

A lot, surprisingly. He doesn’t seem to snap at you much and when he does he’s quick to calm down. On rare occasions he’ll hit you.

“I’m sorry, but you are just getting on my nerves. I don’t want to hurt you, so please behave.”

He says the same thing every time.

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

Noah can’t move on.

I mean this man has NO in his name. Bad pun, I am so sorry.

Dead: No, no, no, you can’t be dead. He will preform everything he knows to bring you back to life… he’s in denial. He can’t have the love of his life dead! You have to be pretending. Just wake up he won’t be mad… he can’t lose you. Don’t ever die please. He actually had nightmares about that, when this happens he will cuddle with you. This is the only time he will end the isolation punishment earlier than intended. He loves you.

Escapes: First off, how? Noah will be greatly annoyed, but impressed in a way. His darling is getting smarter! Yay? Ugh. He will make sure this doesn’t happen and you will be smothered when he gets you again. All rights will be gone and you’re going to be teased, but he is glad to have you back.

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

He loves you a lot and having you around is amazing but every now and then he feels so guilty.

It makes it worse if you had ambitions in life, it’s even worser if you were so crushed now that you can’t do them, but maybe in the future…? He will console you and give you even more time to warm up to him. Surprisingly, he’ll even apologize.

After Noah’s breakup, he expected not to fall in love again… he was so heartbroken that Emma would leave him.

But when you came along he didn’t want the same things to happen, he can’t lose anyone else. Even if that means kidnapping you. Noah refused to let another person go… even if you weren’t even dating yet.

I’d imagine you come along about five months after the breakup, he was still heartbroken but you made everything better. He might of not been thinking clearly… whoopsies?

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

He likes and hates it.

I don’t need to explain any more than that.

He loves their cries and screams. However, if you isolate yourself for too long he will get grumpy.

Here’s a little scenario since that head canon was so damn short!

You have been staying in your room for the entire day after Noah had snapped at you, Noah had been trying to pry you out but you fought back pretty well. He may or may not have a black ever right now, which was so fucking deserved.

But of course you hear knocking! Of course! Before you yell out to tell Noah to go fuck himself, maybe for him to jump off a roof… which he may do a familiar voice called out to you. It was not Noah.

“Y/N, little buddy is starting to throw a temper tantrum because you’re not talking to him… please come out.” Owen said, smiling softly. His presence alone calmed you down. Even though he reeked of hot dogs… so that’s how Noah bribes Owen to help him out. Good to know. “I know he was being super mean, I also know that you think I’m always on his side but I’m not. You’re a great person; you don’t deserve this but Noah really does love you… please… before he breaks something important.”

You wanted to say no but it’s Owen, how could you say no? You just couldn’t, the thought of that goof getting hurt because of you doesn’t sit right.

“… fine.” You mumbled in the softest tone known to man, wiping your tears.

The two of you walked out of the room, and automatically Noah tackled you to the floor pressing kisses everywhere on your face, even neck! You tried to pry him off but he just clung on tighter, like a koala to its favorite tree. It was cute…? Well, it would be cute if you weren’t scared shitless but eventually you calmed down.

“Y/N, I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER SEE YOU AGAIN! NEVER LEAVE ME ALONE!”

That’s the first time he was just completely sweet with you.

Noah wasn’t always like this, he used to find the whole yandere cliché so… ugh, gross. But of course the breakup happened and you were so gosh darn perfect he couldn’t help himself.

Man’s really switched sides. He went from bullying yanderes to being one. He also is probably a lot more smart and intelligent than most yanderes, he had everything perfectly planned out. He knows what to do.

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

He can be soft, when he is… there’s your chance. Noah’s not dumb, he manipulates you himself… but if you’re good and sneaky at it maybe you can get him to set ya free or something.

But you gotta be good at the game.

Like, even better than Alemanwhore (Alejandro). That oil dipped eel was really good too. So you need to be a master manipulator.

Emotionally though…? He kinda enjoys it, he thinks you’re so cute when sad it makes him want to hurt you more. He is your number 1 bully sometimes. He loves when you are pathetic. Nah 😭 First things first, I HIGHLY doubt our dearest (sarcastically) (derogatory) Net*lix is going to make queer couples if it's not necessary. We're lucky we didn't get the show canceled with the amount of sapphic energy Nami and Kaya had going on, honestly. Two girls holding hands is enough to get a show canceled on that platform. And if they do make queer couples canon they're not going to be between the main characters, keeping in mind how much they're risking doing so.

And also,, I don't want any of the ships to be canon, either. The whole point is to not make romance between the straw hats in canon so it doesn't take the spotlight of their development and you view their dynamics however you want. I'd be annoyed if something as awesome as the next arcs that are to come get sidelined because Net*lix wanted romance. I mean, I wouldn't be annoyed if they made Namivivi canon or at least confirm some main characters to be queer, but it just feels like they'd do it to put their "we are so woke and cool we made your favorite character LGBT" pin and then... Do nothing about it later. As per side characters, idk, maybe there are some non-canon couples here and there and I don't really care but I wouldn't want it to be with the main characters. Especially with Luffy. Do not touch Luffy.

Luffy has such deep bonds with all characters in different ways, and you can see them as romantic, but making it canon just takes away that magic by putting a label on his feelings, something that I feel he wouldn't even do.

Worst case scenario they make Vivi x Koza or Zoro x Nami canon because if Net*lix doesn't have its daily unnecessary romance in shows it dies or smth.

So I don't think it's happening and I don't even want it to happen. The next arcs are so damn good and I really don't want to have to deal with ship wars or shit like that next season.

Do you find unrealistic for Adrien and Marinette to be in a happy relationship?

I wouldn‘t say it‘s entirely impossible but… there‘s a lot of work to do here and I just personally don‘t see it happening.

Most love square relationship problems in the show are resolved by Mari being somehow in the wrong and coddling Adrien with only a few exceptions, like that one time he apologized for giving crappy advice about dealing with Lila. Having one partner being made responsible for any problem all the time, even if both parties are at fault, is bad. And based on what we‘ve seen, Marinette would bend over backwards to make sure Adrien is happy at all times, even if it means sacrificing her own happiness in some way. Astruc himself said „Adrien is perfect, the world is flawed“, which in this case translates to „Marinette needs to overcome all and every flaw she ever has to be the perfect wife while Adrien can lean back and just exist as his perfect self“. Not sure that‘s healthy.

Other problems could come from behaviors these two have now, like how they handle jealousy or how well they communicate their feelings, that can carry over into adulthood if they don‘t learn how to deal with them. This is more speculation because obviously as 14 year olds they can learn to deal with these issues better, but there‘s potential for problematic behavior later on.

Also Adrien, before getting into a relationship, should probably do a little reflecting on who he is as a person outside the relationship. As of now, he has no real hobbies or interests or any way to define who he is as a person. I see this as a potential problem early on in the relationship, especially if Adrien isn‘t encouraged to try and find something he likes to do and… I guess becomes „dependent“ on Marinette? Idk if that‘s the right phrase to use, but I just really don‘t like the idea of someone defining themself just through a romantic relationship. Adrien needs to form his own identity first. This is not only a problem in the Adri//nette dynamic but in the Lady//noir dynamic. LB takes her job seriously and only ever uses the temps when needed, which caused CN to become super jealous bc LB relies on people who are not him. Or that time when LB was more in the loop because Fu had close contact with her and CN acted like LB was the bad guy for keeping stuff from him, not Fu. (I remember a post from Jacques i think about how Lady//noir wouldn't survive LB getting a promotion at a job or smth and that about sums it up pretty well.)

These are just things from the top of my head rn. Some of these things are speculative, because Adrien and Mari might be able to overcome their flaws and be good for each other. But at this point, I think the show went a little overboard with problems they have and even went as far as to give them flaws that are specifically caused by each other (like Marinette's stalking thing which was never a problem with Luka or Adrien pushing himself onto Kagami like he does with LB as CN.)

But again, just speculation. Me (and probably others) not shipping the square is less about how they fundamentally as people might not fit together perfectly and more about the pre-dating journey (plus now with s5 the early stages of their official relationship) being a huge mess full of toxic behavior that's barely adressed or worked on.

Ok, so the Frisk and Chara interpretations are based off of fanon rather than canon, since there's not much we know about Frisk and Chara's behavior in canon. I feel like I don't need to elaborate much here? I mean, I thought it was clever with the Vaggie-Chara thing, since they both fell from the victorious/more powerful world above, don't like talking about it that much, etc. etc. Charlie-Frisk i feel makes a good bit of sense. Alastor - Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls) Niffty - Peridot (Steven Universe)

So. Alastor-Bill Cipher I feel needs no explanation. They're both tumblr sexymen with cool powers and evil tendencies (personally I feel like Pilot!Alastor is a tumblr sexyman and S1!Alastor doesn't but that's a can of worms for a different time). Niffty-Peridot is the one out of the initial six i spent the most time trying to think of, because I couldn't really think of anyone for Niffty, but then i remembered that she's kinda socially inept/unaware, and then I just thought of Peridot.

When Bill last went up against [Vox], The [Vees] had managed to place a spell on him, draining him of most of his power. The one he made the deal with lent him some power in exchange for his soul. His motivation is to defeat the [Vees], break the spell, and end the deal.

The Spell would be like the Magic Barrier in Gravity Falls, preventing Cipher from spreading his chaos beyond the town, except instead of limiting where the power extends to, it just limits how much power.

Get ready for some real creative liberties on my part. So. Bendy would act more like the Bendy from that Hell's Kitchen AU rather than a canon version of Bendy. He's basically done with making films (whether you want that to be cartoons or porn films like in HH is up to you) but he still has to do it because of the contract. Meanwhile, I considered how Cuphead went to that casino and gambled his soul away. I also drew a bit of inspiration from the Casino Cups AU and how in that AU Cuphead ended up working for the Devil's Casino serving drinks and stuff. So, we've got a Cuphead who gambled his soul away to Bill and is at a very low point in his life. Because HH is gravitating towards HuskerDust, that would mean that in this AU BendyxCuphead is a ship. Uhh, take with that what you will. If you don't like it maybe they're not in a relationship but are just good friends or smth. Actually you can do this with all of the ships. Boris would be more like a small wolf/dog Bendy has as a pet rather than an actual person/character

Now, when I say Spinel, im not talking about the Spinel from the Movie. The characterization of Spinel is drastically different between the movie and the epilogue series. Future paints Spinel as just an overly annoying and excited character that doesn't feel like that's what Spinel should be after the events of the Movie. SUFuture!Spinel feels like a good fit for Mimzy (plus they have the same voice actor, innit?). SUMovie!Spinel doesn't. I just wanted to clear that up here.

Emily - Crowley (Good Omens) Sera - Aziraphale (Good Omens)

Now, when I say Crowley, I mean Pre-Fall!Crowley, like the one we see at the beginning of S2 creating those stars and stuff. They're both really loving life and trusting of Heaven's plan but then they find out some stuff and things go awry. If you believe Em's gonna fall later in HH there's more parallels. Aziraphale believes in Heaven's plans and all that jazz, sticking to those beliefs and stuff, which I feel kinda mirrors Sera's insistence on the current plan Heaven is using.

Okay this is obviously not to hate on u just to explain what I think so idk abt the jj situation but didn’t luke say he dated her? Okay so before we found this out i always had The theory he was going to be Sarahs twin and that rafe, Sarah and wheezies mother had an affairr´ and chose Ward and ward gave Luke some money and JJ to keep him quiet and they picked Sarah to keep cause they already had one boy so Luke beat JJ cause it reminded him how The mom chose ward and Luke starts getting drunk and shit instead of taking Care of JJ and start saying how JJ is his mother daughter so People get sus so ward and The mom have wheezie as a cover up to show they love eachother and get The attention off of what Luke is saying and then a few years later when rafe is like 10 or smth The mom and ward divorve and rafe kinda babysits wheezie cause noone is taking Care of her and they still all visit their mother and WHEN rafe is 14 he starts doing drugs cause The mom leaves for good and since JJ needs a job cause yk Luke is shit ward is looking for a babysitter for wheezie and gives jj that cause he could tecnicly be his son and like he knows abt what Luke is doing and thats how jj kinda knows abt wheezie (in season 2 WHEN jj talks to or abt wheezie it sounds like he knows her) and then ward had to fire him cause he reminds him of what he did too much and we all know ward favours Sarah and i Think he does that cause it reminds him she chose him but i Think some of that could tie into who jjś mom is if her and Luke dated.

well in the show it is confirmed that luke is not jjs biological father and that chandler groff is his biological dad. so that would mean ward couldn’t be his father but i do agree there is ambiguity over his mother & rafe and sarah’s mother still.

i sort of agree with your points for rafe, it’s just that based on all previous action it’s very out of character and it puts him in a position that feels very unlike him, especially with the way he approaches this idea so tamely as well — whereas if this was szn1 rafe he’d have more passion and anger.

i do hope we get wheezie and rose content though. as for having no biological parents left, i’m still unsure if rose is her actual mom or not ??? but i’d like to think either way rose raised wheezie as her own daughter and cares for her enough to continue their relationship as such despite everything that happened.

Are there any characters in toh that you felt they should have never been created?

Or characters that you think would had better the plot, or move the plot forward if they had more focus?

Personally, I think Vee is just there and her existence didn't serve much, her screen time could've been used for smth else.

So the first part of this is… interesting to me. It's incredibly hard to ever say a character should never have been created unless A: them simply existence causes problems with the rest of the canon and the story itself or B: you know their inclusion was doomed from the start. This second one is really hard to be able to clarify though unless you have behind the scenes information and the like because unless they were made to be fridged or be offensive, etc. like that, there are few concepts that are bad from the get go.

With that said, The Collector easily should not have been in the show. There just wasn't time for him or the human realm and S3 has been very clearly struggling with those facts. Since he was also introduced in S2B, it's known that he was made after the shortening was very clear to the crew and they should have cut him and focused on Belos, especially since Belos is the big bad anyways.

The second question just gets responded to with: Raine. Raine and Darius. Honestly, just the coven head rebels in general should have probably gotten an entire episode actually dedicated to them that could have helped sell the threat, give them more personality as an organization rather than feeling like they exist to get around tropes or/and Raeda angst, etc. like that. Then again, quite frankly, with how little they've actually done with Raine outside of "ISN'T IT TRAGIC HOW EDA CAN'T BE WITH HER LONG LOST, TRUE LOVE!?", Raine as a character and their plotline probably could have been cut but it was something Dana wanted from the start of the show and S2A would have mostly not been affected by the shortening so they could have possibly had more of a role. Then again, they were also made to be Eda's long lost love so…

And finally Vee. Vee is… complicated. Honestly, it's hard to talk about Vee without talking about her episode, Yesterday's Lie. After all, maybe there were plans to do more properly with her (and she easily would have had the most interesting part of a season on Earth because of having to give up the identity that made her friends and have a place in the world back to Luz, if that was actually discussed of course) but as is… She's mostly just the one episode and looking cute. Worse yet, almost all the narrative goals are tied to Vee so their triumphs and successes are also tied to her.

Now let me get this out of the way: I like Vee. I think she's incredibly likable, cute, etc. like that. She (and the ClarVee ship) was probably the only reason I wrote anything immediately after Yesterday's Lie's ending left a bad taste in my mouth because it rubbed me the wrong way even on first watch. Her backstory is compelling, explains how she can be shy but also have a backbone when the chips are down and her limited interactions with her friends is incredibly charming, even before the MashVee ship existed.

And I'm not going to argue she shouldn't have existed. Character built for a single episode are fine. TOH actually has a paradox going on that while some characters desperately needed more exploration, like Amity, others very clearly should have been cut sooner rather than later. I mean, what could have been done had they just not spent two episodes of S2 on Gus when Gus isn't important to the narrative in any way and Hexide stopped being relevant to the show after S1? How much did we have to have Huntlow if it meant that Luz, who is one there for Hunter's biggest character moments, literally never speaks to him between Hunting Palisman and Hollow Mind?

But Vee was built for specific narrative purposes and does them well. Quite frankly… Too well. To the point where it creates problems. But that has to do with the narrative goals of Yesterday's Lie rather than Vee herself. The two just interlinked because when you make a character for a single episode, you know their narrative goals and how organically and well they function with those goals is part of evaluating the character.

And the narrative goals of Yesterday's Lie seems to be to have:

A: Given an answer to why no one was freaking out about a child going missing for MONTHS and it does this one quite well just by Vee being a shapeshifter.

B: Criticize Luz and whether or not she actually had any reason to leave which is the one Vee interacts with the most and is also the biggest problem to.

C: To build Camila's character, establish her unending well of understanding since she never judges Vee for even a second, nor Luz's story about the Isles, and then end on a mid-season cliffhanger I have SEVERE issues with but is outside the scope of this blog.

Vee's goals thus are to be able to fill Luz's shoes, which she does naturally, be able to scold Luz about her life and to be able to contrast hard enough against the norm as to make Camila's sympathy shine through. Her slug form and her ability to shapeshift honestly fit two of these three really well by themselves. It was a genuinely elegant and clever concept/implementation that was good for what they wanted.

But then there's Vee's actual character and actions that play into B. And B is… A lot.

Because this is the episode that caused me to turn on Luz in my heart.

It wasn't immediate but there's one line from Luz that really sums up the fact that you have to trust Luz in order to not entirely agree with Vee in this episode. That you have to go off of only Luz's words and not her actions for what her backstory was like. To be able to believe Gus and Willow were the first chances at having friends. That no one ever understood her. That school was always a nightmare for her.

And that line is "Oh no, highschoolers," because that is the second time Luz quite literally ever has that response to ANYONE. In the ENTIRE show. She didn't have any worries about meeting kids in Hexide. She never had worries about trying to hang out with Amity despite Amity clearly hating her. She didn't worry about Amity's siblings, the various villains she met, Eda, King, etc. In general, Luz shows NO signs of social anxiety or any sort of manifestation of trauma in regards to bullying, rejection, etc. like that.

Worse yet is who these people are. They are quickly characterized as atypical people with nerdy interests and chill personalities. They'd be in the anime club or the role playing club or the video game club at school. They are by all intents and purposes, people like Luz. Nerds. Outcasts. Etc. like that. People Luz could have easily befriended. I mean, Vee did and she knows nothing about human society.

Yes, the two also have drastically different personalities but also Masha likes giving tarot readings to her friends. I feel like Luz's passion would just mix and amplify Masha's own passion and the two would literally go hunt monsters together while Vee makes sure they don't do anything stupid. Luz could go on a rant about her philosophies on magic and the faux stoner dude would be enraptured by how wild and imaginative Luz could be.

And this all begs the question of WHY didn't Luz have friends?

Well… Her opening montage, the first real introduction to the character, kind of explains it but not kindle. After all, two of the three events we're shown, and VERY much so her presentations and projects, are about getting attention. About making sure she does something big enough that people consider her contribution the best, regardless of those around her. So she can't match a cheerleader physically? Call that nothing and show a weird trick you know. Wants to make sure people talk about her performance in the play? Opening night, do something that you didn't clear with your director and catches everyone off guard, even if it means going off script and possibly ruining the play.

Even worse is the clubs she IS joining there. After all, why isn't Luz a part of the anime club or something? Or a part of a book club back home? Well… Cheerleaders and actors are more popular. They get more attention. They're special. Nerds, outcasts, etc. I mean… Who wants to interact with those when it means people might look down on you?

And the final nail is that she does finally accept outcasts… So long as they have magic. And the closer she gets to Amity, the less she interacts with Willow or Gus, to the point where they spend close to zero time in Season 2. And why wouldn't Luz want to be with the popular witch instead of people who were only special by having magic in general?

Do I think this interpretation is intentional? No. Vee's friendships were merely to try and add a bit of gray into what was black and white. However, how Luz was introduced wasn't given enough thought to make such pointed questions work. Not when you're forcing the audience to ask these questions with Vee shouting "YOU HAD IT GOOD!"

So how good did Luz have it? Well, there were fellow outcasts in her own town, which appears to be pretty small, so she could have had friends and her mom is a literal saint. S3 would only reinforce this. And she still abandoned it all for three months so she could become a witch.

So… Sorry, but the statement of "If everyone you meet is an asshole, the asshole might be you," does fit sometimes. And it fits for Luz here.

And it's also the worst part of Vee because if Vee didn't exist… I might not have considered these problems. Not so quickly. But Vee being able to contrast Luz, to be successful in the human realm simply because she's willing to actually accept those around her and bend a little, not entirely, to what will make them like her, was one of her narrative goals. One of the reasons she is as she is.

And another time where TOH thinks it's being clever when it's really just shooting itself in the foot because it has never been smart enough to ask the questions it proposes. And it sucks that that's tied to a character who is so wonderfully likable otherwise.

this ep needed more bravern 😭 i mean it didn’t, it was rly good and i liked him relating well with isami but between the downer ending + lack of bravern + no fight scene i’d say it’s probably the one that clicked w me the least so far, i had to rewatch it a few times to figure out how i felt………..still really funny though and the campy post-irony is really gelling well imo, the sound design of isami in that fucking suit and getting punched killed me, and lulu chugging the water, and bravern with his fucking lei of wieners and the way he said JAAAAPAAAN!! 💀

if i were a theory maker i would be going bananas with this show but i am not so i am simply enjoying reading everyone else’s :] there was one from a jp fan that referenced the n3i scene and i am rotating that one in my mind rn…………..anyways i feel like if this show nails its middle and ending i am gonna look back and be like Damn that was some smart writing LMAO, like there sure is a lot of heavy handed building to Something. feels careful and deliberate and with a good amount of “thing you didn’t realize was important becoming the key to everything five episodes later.” excited for what’s to come :]

Oh my god, how are they gonna arrange the schedules? If Finn has Ghost Busters 2 then it means he's gonna be filming that for months, and what about the other schedules then 😅? I sometimes wonder if the show will just come out in 2025 bc of different schedules and bc the actors either have different projects or are busy with smth else

I know it's super disappointing, but it's very possible s5 won't premiere until 2025!

I answered an ask about this a while back, but basically if we're wanting s5 to be top notch quality, then settling for a s5 release in 2025 is what we're looking at.

Finn made the comment that he was looking forward to being able to drink with some of his cast-mates at the next premiere since he'll now be of age this time around, and he wont be 21 until December 2024... Unless they plan on premiering that literal month, the premiere probably wont be until the following year some time (early 2025).

Noah also made a comment about it when asked if it was coming out soon, and he basically just changed the subject saying that they're main priority is doing the story justice by ensuring it's all well done and satisfying.

Netflix has not come out to give a year for release yet and it's because they are probably pretty sure it will be 2025, but they know it's going to piss people off so they're going to wait a little bit before breaking the news.

Also just thinking about filming scheduling like you said, it takes a lot longer than it usually does for a number of reasons. I'm pretty sure s1 only needed like 6-7 months to film and only like 3-4 months for post-production. But the level of the story was so much less grand. We also had actors that had no experience and so therefore there wasn't much demand in trying to fit with their schedule bc they had no other work.

But now they're all A and B listers with crammed schedules.

We're talking 10+ months of filming and AT LEAST 8+ months of post-production. Best case scenario they would be ready for a premiere by DEC 2024 at the earliest! That gives them a lot of wiggle room assuming there could be delays and what not.

Remember they didn't finish filming for s4 until Sept. 2021, which means they needed about 8 or so months for post-production with the May 27th, 2022 premiere.

When we're talking about like major CGI dragon battles potentially, we're looking at the high end of the spectrum for time spent of VFX in post-production, so something close to what we saw for s4, more or less (about 8 months).

And then you have to think about all the planning that goes into the promotion and the advertising and contracts with products that is planned months/years in advance and that all rolling out to get people pumped.

Then there's also the fact that their choice of when to release it usually has to be sort of unique.

It has to premiere on a Friday, and it has to preferably be at at time that works best for Netflix in combination with all of their other releases.

There are no interesting Friday dates in late 2024... The most interesting date I can find is Friday March 21st, 2025, which would allow for the release to match up with the setting of the show (especially if we're circling back to birthdaygate and what happened in early s4 that was misconstrued bc of will's unreliable narrator arc).

Also... arguably we want a later release bc then it means we get to be here a little bit longer. Bc once this is over, it's over forever. The end!

ST5 in 2025 wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, assuming that promotion for that season would start as early as late 2024 and also be really consistent leading up to it, followed by us getting it and having to, only to move on forever.

It's kind of sad thinking about it. I don't want to.

Also it's possible we could get split into two volumes again bc this is the end and they really want to milk the excitement of it. Having it premiere once and be done is only ensuring like one month of hype, whereas 2 volumes split up between a 2-3 month period ensure like 4 months of hype, and that's a good way to end things with a bang.

Maybe we'll get lucky with a vol one in late 2024 and a vol 1 in early 2025? We'll have to wait and see as we get closer!

All I know is it wont be 2026, so we can just rest knowing that's not a possibility... right?
