Life became quite an adventure lately since I found out part of me is normal (and the other a nerd) and that I had to get used to daylight. [That’s easy for me! JJ.] I was so used to waking up after the sunset that, when my… I mean, “our” transformation happened in broad daylight; I thought I was dreaming or crazy. Imagine that: I suddenly find myself in Monster High with all these students staring at me in the middle of this crazy tune, and then the music stops, and I go back to sleep for who knows how long, and then wake up again in a similar weird situation. Mom and Dad finally told me the truth (took them long enough! [Tell me about it! JJ]) and explained what happened. At first, I was scared, but last Friday, I woke up in my own bed, with the alarm clock howling music loud enough to raise the dead. On the night-stand, I found a note from Jackson stuck on our iCoffin on which he already had hooked the headphones: “I uploaded Catty Noir’s latest album on the phone. Try not to screw up, O.K.? PS: Let me out for biteology class; we have a dreadful test.”

I couldn’t help smiling when I grabbed the headphones and turned the volume up on the first song. Since I had a little time before class, I went to the Coffin Bean with Catty Noir’s clawsome voice in my ears. I enjoyed my first coffinccino and took the time to admire the city in the daylight. I got to school before the first bell and headed straight to the catacombs where I knew I’d find Operetta, thinking she would be surprised to see me, but it felt like a bomb when she told me the whole school had known about Jackson and me going back and forth for weeks. How disappointing! [For you or for me? JJ] On the other hand, she was astonished to hear I’d be able to go out more often. I think I could get used to the double life thing, as long as it goes like this. Hey Jackson, maybe you’re not such a dork after all. I actually think you might be alright. [Yeah… You too, Holt. I mean… Sometimes. JJ.]

Thanks for sending these! How kind of you to send this hoping for me to feel better 💞💞 Reading through these have made me feel a lot less alone but also a bit sad that others are also struggling in the same way </3 but also grateful for ppl like you and @sabrgirl) for being vulnerable and sharing your experiences to make ppl like me feel like it's not just me who is struggling in Ramadan while everyone else is living their best lives (which is such a big thing tbh). May Allah reward you both Actually this issue (worship vs. illness) isn't new for me, for the past 4-ish years I've had to grapple through it but I've gained a lot of perspective because of it too. Lol the reason I was especially heartbroken about it recently (despite going thru it before) is that Allah has given me miracles in Ramadan (Similarly to what is mentioned in the post you sent!) where I am suddenly back to normal for the month lol so this month I was kind of hoping for that miracle again (how entitled of me lol)

This month in a lecture I learned about how sometimes you might feel a connection to a specific type of worship and feel a high when you do it, but then other times, Allah might take that feeling away to see if you are still consistent in that deed - to see if you are really seeking Allah or if you are just seeking that deed, and it really really struck a chord within me. They also talked about how this might be Allah giving you a chance to explore other types of worship. And that has helped me a lot this Ramadan too!

I still get upset sometimes though, but you know, I think it's normal. I just think of those sahaba that were too poor to contribute anything when the prophet (s.a.w) was going to tabuk, and they were willing to go on the expedition, but there weren't enough supplies and transportation for them to go, they began to cry and became known as 'the criers.' Allah revealed an ayah for them:

"Nor [is there any blame on] those who came to you [O Prophet] for mounts, then when you said, 'I can find no mounts for you,' they left with eyes overflowing with tears out of grief that they had nothing to contribute" [Quran, 9:92]

Just as Allah thought their tears noteworthy to mention in the Qur'an, my tears / grief at not being able to fast may (inshallah) get me greater reward than maybe the fasting would have. And Maybe that is why Allah made it that way for me (and the rest of us who can't fast). There is that saying that patience in adversity is sometimes easier than gratitude during times of ease maybe. Allahumma Ameen may Allah accept our efforts.

OOO there were so many good shows this year so it's hard to choose bUT i would have to choose the last of us !!!!! i've been in love with tlou for yearsssss so it was so nice to see a good adaptation and seeing everyone getting excited about it !!!!

i think just getting into the swing of things honestly, i will be in my second year of uni so it will be good to just get into a routine and meet some people hopefully !! alsO getting into reading again, i used to read all the time as a kid so i want to get back into it

20. what's something you learned this year?

i think the big one was learning i am autistic which helped me a lot with understanding myself better and how to navigate certain things !! i am also proud of how i stood up for myself this year and put up my boundaries when i needed to because it has been such a game changer for my mental health
