“She herself is a haunted house. She does not possess herself; her ancestors sometimes come and peer out of the windows of her eyes and that is very frightening. She has the mysterious solitude of ambiguous states; she hovers in a no-man’s land between life and death, sleeping and waking.” - Angela Carter

thinking that the federation sent cellbit away, fully expecting him to die, because he saw something he wasn't supposed to (which we still don't know what it was). but he didn't die. he survived, thrived even, and then ended up in a maximum security prison. but now what i'm wondering is, what if he had died. what if the federation succeeded, and he never met bad, and he never went to prison, and he never broke out, and he never ended up back on quesadilla island.
do you think bagi would've ever stopped looking, would she ever have lost hope. because she worked so hard to become a police officer to be able to get to him in prison and then he escaped before she could but, she had lead. she knew he was alive! regardless of the life choices he'd made (been forced to make) her little brother was alive! the 15 years looking for him weren't for nothing. but if he'd died in the war, another nameless child amongst countless nameless children, if he'd never grown up. would bagi have stopped? would she have ended up on quesadilla island, memories gone, missing a part of her and not knowing what. and if she remembered, would she keep looking the same way she did, even though she hadn't heard anything about him for years. would she grow old, still wondering? would she ever find out where he went when the federation took him away, to die in a war where he didn't even know what he was fighting for. would cellbit die nameless, missing a sister he never knew he had.

i miss when the main personality trait for dabi was "even tho we have differing goals and wildly different ways of achieving it, know that you're my little sibling and i will always love you" and then the reveal came and hori was like "you stupid fucking idiot, you really thought you could have big bro!dabi?? he fucking hates them you idiot"

Yo, friendo What's the best way to consume these funny doomed men I keep seeing?
( Didn't mean it literality, but I can't help but think that the answer is with spice )
depends on which ones!! there are two series I've been posting about a lot, both by the same author: SVSSS and MDZS!
Scum Villain's Self-Saving System/SVSSS is a book series, and you can read it physically (which I did through my local library for the first two books) or online on the Internet Archive or Anna's Archive (which I did for the last two books when I got too impatient to wait on my holds). It also has a ten episode long donghua called Scumbag System that covers most of the first book and it's terrible (affectionate). You can find that one on youtube or most anime pirating sites. In short summary, SVSSS is about a terminally online dude getting isekai'd into the villain of a webnovel he absolutely hates, and in his attempt to avoid the villain's horrible death he sends the story completely off the rails. It's unhinged, hilarious, and everyone in the series is a complete freak <3 It's only four books long (three of which are the main plot and the fourth is extras)
MDZS/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is also a book series by the same author! Similarly, you can check your public library or the Internet Archive and Anna's Archive. It also has a donghua (which I haven't watched) and a wildly successful live action drama called The Untamed (which is how I initially got into the series!). The Untamed is available on Netflix and Youtube and probably other places. It does make some significant changes due to censorship reasons and it is extremely cheesy, but I enjoy it. If you want more classical tragedy, I'd say start with The Untamed, and if you want more gay necromancy shenanigans, I'd say start with the books! In short summary, it's about the life and death and second life of Wei Wuxian as he goes from war hero to widely reviled necromancer, and it's quite fun. The book series is five books long, and The Untamed is 50 episodes long. I have a character guide for that one if you need it because the names do get confusing!

Tbh I think the main 4 of DGM represent the four loves (eros, philia, storge, agape) in different ways that frequently intersect.
Kanda is eros, romantic love, because of his motivation to find "that person", his lover from a previous life, who turns out to be Alma. As much as he doesn't want to admit it, he also experiences philia in regards to his bonds with Lenalee, Lavi and Allen.
Lenalee I'd say is storge due to the way her family is literally her world and what she will prioritize above all but like. Also philia, as she grants a similar importance to those she deems to be friends. She isn't agape because she lacks the love for mankind, as the Order literally beat it out of her thanks to the training and experimentation she was subjected to.
Allen is storge because of how defined he is by his relationships with his father figures but also agape with his firm love for humanity and akuma.
Lavi is philia and agape, as his most important bonds are his friendships with the other 3 and agape because of his position as a bookman. He is supposed to stay neutral and avoid friendships, which is what makes him closeness to the others all the more interesting.
These aren't set in stone as they all demonstrate philia, storge and agape in different ways, it's just that Kanda is the only one who seems to experience romantic love and have it as a key motivation in his arc.
