I have every right to blab abt the way I am going to be writing Travis in my mcd rewrite

I'm going to actually love writing Travis so much because I get to write him so outta character and I won't give a shit since I'm doing what I want to do in my rewrite while still having hints of canon but not fully canon,

I'm making Travis like this calm collective and slightly socially awkward person and then there's just this one scene where his rage is just completely showing surprising like a lot of the mcd cast cuz from the start not many of them have actually seen Travis in rage that much to a point he's physically expressed it through body language face expression or even his mindset.

And in a lot of situation Travis actually tries his best to not let his emotions come to the best of him and actually take over his way of thinking instead he tries to think in a logical way of how to approach the situation in whatever emotion he's in, Travis had always kind of gave off this "wise old elf" when he's like in teen years at least for his kind which is around like 18-30 and Travis is 22

And the whole thing with like Travis's mother with his mother will actually be sealing away the demon warlock on the island right after the main mcd group go to the irene dimension which makes Travis 7 at that time to fend for himself which had actually costs him his childhood he had to mature much faster than anyone his age and learn how to do some things his mother didn't teach him about such as hunting, starting a fire etc

Travis is definitely one interesting character to write in my case scenario, since I've been fiddling around a lot more with him recently since I had finished the other main character arcs which had actually left me to do Travis's and it's been really interesting developing his character with arts personality-wise and just writing about his character in general, it's really fun when you actually get used to it and honestly I think I'll always enjoy writing Travis in any series just because of how much I can make of his character and how much I can cause

I’ve fallen madly in love with every single one of them and all of Rick’s books that showcase just how chaotic and unhinged they are will always be my favourites. it’s sad that they’re background characters because they’ve got the potential to be so much more.

this is like. one of my biggest issues. im not like a shipper, never rlly have been until yj but i dont like engage in discourse bc thats stupid.

But basically? Fanon lottienat just kinda strips anything thats interesting about the ship away. and makes it like. punk x preppy. loser x popular. ive even heard black cat and golden retriever which makes me want to rip my eyes out.

And its not even accurate to their characterization? at all? like youre flanderizing them but like..... not even their main traits. like ive seen people say "precrash lottie would be like charlotte from status update (curse that movie btw. the things i do for u courtney eaton) which is just. like not at all.

first off lottie is not popular. yeah, shes rich, but shes clearly somewhat of a loner (WHICH PARALLELS NAT?? WHICH MAKES IT MORE INTERESTING???) even courtney has said this in interviews. she feels ostracized, and a lot of it can be traced back to the flashback scenes we see, esp those about her relationship w her parents and her supposed mental illness. the 90s, especially the 90s in a high pressure rich family, was NOT a good place to have schizophrenia (and yeah theres the "she wasnt actually mentally ill" argument but that changes nothing because atp in the story her whole family and probably herself believed she was.

Then we have the nat characterization. The fanon "grumpy" to fanon lotties "sunshine". guys canonically nat smiles more than lottie. girlie was always grinning while lottie was experiencing the horrors all of s1. ofc they both went THROUGH it but that specific stereotype pissed me off sm i had to address it.

also, nat gets shown a lot as masc?? which is a fine headcanon but like for her style like the whole punk thing? she acc dresses relatively femininely.those are little irks abt nat but they bother me idc. too tired to write more on this rn but feel free to ask!

so basically taking this stuff into account - fanon lottienat uses a gross mischaracterization of both characters, especially lottie (also that suspiciously align w stereotypes HMMMMM) to literally make the ship more boring. You are making it a stupid and lame trope. You literally have these two insanely complex characters who mirror each other. Theyre not opposites attract, they are the same character in different skins. They're both loners, one because of her punk/rebel nature and nasty rumors, the other because of her mental illness and lack of closeness to people. Theyre both loners because of their social status and their fucked up home life. Theyre both providers - nat the hunter, bringer of physical and real food like the deer. Lottie the prophet, bringer of hope and, through the teams eyes, the birds, the bear, etc. Lottie who begs to be a martyr but is denied nat who runs from it but shoulders it anyways. They're both bleeding hearts they both give soul to the team and are some of the most genuine characters but they present it so differently.

The fact that the majority of content grossly mischaracterizes them and is the widely accepted fanon just.. sucks tbh. and the fact that people get so up in arms about them, and literally attack fans of other characters (lottielee fans... travis fans....) for no reason?? all these other characters do is contribute to what makes lottienat such a compelling and fucked up and interesting ship. i love them so much but lwk most of yall are insane and dont even appreciate them for what they really are.

i can not not be parasocial abt when i listen to ttpd a bit because it's so heavily focused on her personal life and it is absolutely insane to me how quickly she went from writing lover about joe, wanting to marry him, to getting bored and wanting to fuck matty while still dating him then when they break up she dates matty and wants to marry him and then they obviously have a really toxic relationship (and keep in mind he also was like this to halsey and fka twigs, taylor isnt the only person to like get this feeling from him???) and she wants to marry him??? and it's so intense for such a short time and it's like okay is she projecting her feelings for joe onto matty? she wanted joe to be matty, she wanted matty to be joe. and you know she loved joe and he didn't actually hurt her from how little rancor she has toward him, it's all just grief she feels for him when she does sing about their relationship. Finally making a post abt my silly little mys band au!

The members are Travis (lead singer) dante (bass and backup vocals) laurance (lead guitar) and zenix (drums)

The band is called Lizard Cleaner which was originally a holder name for the band but they got attached and now that's actually their name

they're a pop-punk band

theyre united by each dating a ro'meave sibling

Dante and travis are with zane, laurance is w garroth, and zenix is w vylad

they started the band in highschool for fun but ended up signing when they were all like 18-19

they have never and will never have strobe lights at their shows (dante is epileptic in my head)

originally it was travis and dante messing around with their instruments (travis also plays guitar) and eventually it became a band

also in this au katelyn is a metal singer and good friends w the boys so they've collabed before

they all know how to play more than one instrument but prefer theirs

dante can play drums, zenix can play guitar and bass, laurance can play bass, and travis kind of knows how to play drums

they all write songs, and are pretty evenly split in writing them (either on their own or working together)

all their friends went to their small shows in highschool even if it wasn't their kind of music

seeing them all together is always a little funny because it's this bright and colourful scene guy (travis) a stereotypical pop-punk grunge looking guy (dante) literally just some dude who wears a skirt sometimes (laurance) and a guy who wears two (2) colours (zenix) ((it's red and black))

they opened for bands for a tour or two, before getting their own tour

if warped tour was around they'd soooooo fuck it up there

when they got their first sold out tour date travis actually screamed and scared the rest of them

their merch goes hard, they always sell booty shorts (this is based off parx bc i love that they do that)

i think sasha would do very nice photography so she tends to be their photographer

only two of them dye their hair (travis dyed his from blond to white w purple raccoon tails, dante had brown hair and dyes it blue)

on their first show that was during pride month they each had their pride flags either as a cape or like,, on the mic stand

they love their fans and interact with them on social media

VIP pics always go crazy

they give out free stickers at the m&g's and with every merch purchase

there's an ongoing joke that laurance is being held hostage because they're the normalesg looking

Okay I have a few ideas for some Beckett fics and I figured I’d just message you instead.

So my first idea is that the reader is a huge bookworm and is constantly ranting to Beckett about their books and he’s always listening and giving her heart eyes the more she rants about her books. Maybe he takes her on a cute bookstore date (carries all her books for her, grabs ones he knows she’s been wanting, etc.) I could even see him recreating some of the sweet moments in her books that would have the reader blushing and kicking their feet.

My second idea is that the reader is a successful music artist and they have been dating before Beckett got drafted, she’s so proud of him and she is going on tour and now that Beckett is in the spotlight more it’s all over the media of him in the crowd of her concerts (giving Taylor and Travis vibes)

These ideas aren’t the best so you definitely don’t have to write anything based on them, anything you come up with will be amazing!

I think people love to include their loved ones into their art no matter what and it's gets so many people in trouble. Halsey's ex and father of her child made a music video with them about a love song she wrote about them and that ended unfortunately and Taylor wrote like a bunch of songs with Joe. Write a song with Calvin too. it's ill advised but I think it's just how artists (usually) are. What I do not like though is Taylor and some of her fans habit of rewriting the past when things go wrong or not to plan that can take a hike though. I have a big enough brain I can remember what the past was and work that into how things currently are. Whoever was the one and is now not the one. its fine, it's the process, art is maleable.

Like you said, there's nothing wrong with artists including meaningful people in their life in the art they create at the time, like all the love songs taylor's written about joe or travis or any other ex. I think personally I wouldn't even consider it ill-advised, like to me it feels like the natural order of life - that you'll spend time and energy loving someone, spending time with them or creating art inspired by them and at the end of the day, things might not work out with that person but it doesn't make the experience (or the art you created from it) worthless or a waste of time.

BUT yes taylor seems to like revising history, like in the way she described reputation in her Times' POTY interview (I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with other examples at the moment). Like it's okay to say yeah I was very in love w this guy at the time and so I wrote all those love songs about him! her feelings about him now being different from then doesn't take away the authenticity of her art yk. but to just outright deny/ignore the love she had poured into that album?? this after a year of swifties making classist 'yogurt boy' jokes and twisting any and every lyric/thing about joe to frame him as malicious/oppressive like eugh it disgusts me just thinking abt it, let alone participating in it.

What I was talking abt in the other ask was the eras tour specifically. I don't see the tour as 'art' per se, it's more a celebration of all the art she has created over the years. so my main gripe was that by incorporating travis so heavily in this celebration, it's like she's giving him undue credit/significance in a way which cheapens her work by centering it around a guy yk? at least that's the point I was trying to make

something that I'm still figuring how I feel about is how she changes who the songs are dedicated to/about from her muse to the fans (not songs like long live, but like the archer "you could stay"). with respect to the atw10mv, I think there's nothing wrong with using the validating feeling of having large crowds of people resonating with such painful feelings as a way to heal and move on, but when it comes to the archer it feels a little iffy because of what an intimate song it is. it feels a little odd/uncomfortable/unhealthy that she's trying to seek the kind of personal support or comfort you get from a partner from millions of random, if well-meaning, strangers.

it pisses me OFF how (outside of that dumbass batch of ppl that ship them ...) fans REALLY tried to make travis out to be some sort of uncle figure for laura and thats just ..... not how things work? kdfgnf no matter HOW you spin it, their relationship will NEVER be healthy, unless you wanna have something so DEVOID of canon, which is just annoying. like. at that point just make up your own characters DSFKGNFDGK LIKE. travis and laura will not and can NEVER have a relationship where things arent icky or bad. and if you say otherwise youre just too indulged in fanon and i recommend playinmg the fucking game again

ok back to travis and laura . like. first things first travis being a cop and locking her and max up for 2 months already deters them from having a good and meaningful and normal relationship lmao . but at the end of chapter 9? he manipulates himself and his situation to get laura to help him in his family bullshit. aka . killing a person she knows absolutely nothing about. shes not a shitty person, so of COURSE shes goingn to say "sure" to the person tthats practically begging for her help. and in this line of events, she can even be killed! like! and travis should fucking know this! hes willing to use this girl hes traumatized for his own gain! to solve HIS problems! its fucked up

and do i even need to say how john used a girl hes traumatized for his own gain? its written all over the movies brother. and in canon, he DOES end up killing her! he leads her to her demise! yes i kn ow hoffman's note is essentially what lead amanda to her demise but. john is the one who put this all in motion and who wanted to test her again despite beating her test in the original movie. and for making it through the bullshit of saw ii

but yeah. long story short. ppl making it seem like that these 2 duos have good familial relationships is so just errrghhhh . in laura and travis' case, this is NOT the answer to being a normal person and not shipping them. they shouldnt have a relationship at all realistically lmao. and the same goes for john and amanda, even if amanda canonically relies on and sees john as a ffather figure. if it werent for their pasts, they wouldnt need each other

basically what im saying is that. travis and john traumatize these girls then eventually uses them to further their own agendas, which get them (or can get them) killed. and yet fandom LOOOVES to see them as this normal healthy familial dynamic and it pisses me off and and and

is anyone gonna talk about how most of the dead characters will consist of nonwhite characters on the show (yj) now or what? the treatment of minorities kinda suck right now. travis died in the adult timeline. adam (the mexican coded character) was killed by shauna. javi died in the wilderness. kristen 'accidentally' died by falling off of a cliff. misty killed that reporter in the first season. and all these talks abt mari dying and possibly akilah dying and im like...? if you gonna do that you'd at least have to really really write well for lottie and tai's characters when your main cast consist of predominantly white characters alongside a handful of 'dead' nonwhite characters.

the writers wrote themselves into a corner honestly but as ever it was and still is an opportunity for them to like truly build up the horror by connecting with who the characters represent whether they want to accept it or not because im like very convinced they understand who taissa and lottie could represent but they prefer not to touch it out of fear of coming off racist probably but the fact that they remaines neutral about acknowledging their race as more than a wink like with the scenes of taissa becoming a senator and she was the only main character of color, it's fucking insane that we're dealing with tokenism in 2023 because the writers aren't brave enough to simply ask input in their white story like tawny cypress who fucking loves horror and her craft is there, simone kessell too like these are not amateurs if they don't want to ask for writers of color in their writing room and meanwhile we have jasmine savoy brown asking for scenes with akilah and taissa because that shit isnt even being thought of, its fucking weird it's what it is, but leaving that behind the fact that fandom can be so vindictive without acknowledging that the story does request like actual critical fucking thinking of its pieces however superficial the text could be at times like that is something fucking requested of the damn text considering just what people clearly come for which is shauna and jackie like suddenly all nuance is there for them, gone the minute people ask to pay attentio attention to the imbalance of the depth and exploration of the perspectives of the characters of color in a survival setting as if it could ever be paired up so easily with whiteness even as kids, way before the teenage years, that shifts, and like fuck, the fact that we have been prevented from seeing tai's family? lottie's? even the other dead yellowjackets families???? what does that say of thr focus of the story and the failures of the writers to present a balanced story like the scale is rigged, it always is but even so obviously presented here as you are, all we get from white fans is apathy, like that doesn't mirror the cruelty that is being commented on one way or another....... sick shit no lies......

and it is been a few of my mutuals and some posts in the tags which have acknowledged it as such and for all that fandom claims that is a space to speculate and expand on the text, once again, true colors are shown and instead of trying to build on the characters of color, they continously pull them down, like mary, like kristen, like travis not even in the way the story did as a tool for her suffering, he's erased for convenience like fuck.... the story shows how much it took to dehumanize each other to that point and i know it's fiction like i don't fucking teach it for a living but in a story that asks you to see the humanity in their cruelty and reason and childhood, people in the tags and fandom spaces of this show find it easy to dehumanize who they deem less worthy for free like... girl look at the fucking text ffs....

in Sally face episode 3 "the bologna incident" in the bathroom before you bring the bologna samples to Tedd (I think before) if you go to the bathroom where besides the trash can is a crumbled up love letter (I don't know all parts but there is stuff written like "this isn't the way a boy should feel", " shame swallow me while just writing those words" and it's explaining that the home life of the person who wrote it ISN'T SAFE.)

And if you check the stalls in one of them is the bully of sal fisher (the person you play) you can talk to him and become some sort of friends!

The creator of the game later said, that the letter actually was from Travis (the bully) and it was about a boy (we're not told who) and Travis at that time was a closeted gay, because his father (the priest) is very homophobic.

Sal later in the game (somewhere between episode 4 and 5) helped Travis understand and learn who he is, sadly Travis does not (as far as I'm aware) escape his dad, joining the church (not telling specific I fo abt that cuz it's a MASSIVE spoiler)
