With the Words of a Love Song (MBC X Healer! Reader)

AN: Aright, aright, I see what you're laying down, I see it. How are y'all feeling after the last MBC fic anyway? the engagement I got on it was CRAZYYY and I adored it sm

This will Not follow the storyline my main MBC story does, so if you all begin missing Blu, fret not she is still around, just not in this universe <3

☁ Now, these guys with a healer partner? That's a dynamic for sure.

☁ Probably better for Sprout's poor heart lmao

☁ Astro is by far the most protected toon on each run if this is the case. With not only Sprout and Cosmo playing favorites, you probably play favorites as well, which it's Astro. Who wouldn't.

☁ Since Cosmo and Sprout bond over baking, I imagine you and Astro bond over late nights. Like, c'mon, imagine it's late at night and while Astro is making sure the other two are sound asleep with only the best of dreams, he's laying with you as you hum some soft tune.

☁ Speaking off, the second they hear your voice, they're all over lullabies. Especially since nightmares from their times as twisteds still haunt their memories. Having you and Astro there make falling asleep easier than it was even pre-breakout.

☁ It quickly becomes a favorite part of the night time routine.

☁ Honestly, that's probably what kickstarts the entire relationship in this universe. Cosmo gets hit/heals someone/ another reason here and you're closer than Sprout was, quickly healing him with a small little rhythm.

☁ Already Sprout's got his eye on you for that as Cosmo is adamant on thanking you with your favorite dessert- he doesn't know what else to do because he's never been healed by anyone outside of Sprout or his cousin. Of course, where those two roam in my world, Astro isn't far to follow.

☁ He probably meets you on a late night walk where you're humming to yourself, maybe snuggling with Coal.

☁ Anyway, I've established previously that these three fall hard and fall fast, and are full of so much love to give. They spend endless hours trying to give you all the confidence you deserve, even if you fail to see it.

☁ They respect your wishes on limiting the use of your ability on the field, leaving most healing to Cosmo or Sprout. The only exception being if one of them needs it. In which case, you and one of them will hide in a secluded area so you can very quickly use your ability before moving once more.

☁And maybe when Astro specifically asks. As much as he loves the treats (And this is my personal headcanon) he has trouble eating and running at the same time, which is necessary when the bakers heal him, so having you sit him down for a moment of reprieve is much preferred for him.

☁ By the way. I never mentioned this in my previous MBC stuff because it wasn't really relevant, but the worst person to heal, by far is Sprout. In the other verse, he has to constantly be open to being healed because Disractor! Reader is The Worst (tm), and he needs to be alive to heal them, but with Healer! Reader?

☁ Out the window. I said you all were gremlins, this entire polycule is gremlins, and I meant it. Sprout included. He is the worst to get to sit down, and accept any form of heal if it meant taking a bandage or med kit from someone else (Like you, Cosmo or Astro). But with your ability he's a little more receptive to being healed which is good for your heart and Cosmo's poor nerves.

☁ It's not very often you have to use your ability, but of course, accidents do happen.

☁ Especially with the floors as unpredictable as always.

☁ They knew it would be a blackout the second they stepped out as the sound of the generators sputtering was too loud to ignore. Astro was quick to find you, as he gave off enough light to guide both your way and his own, while Sprout and Cosmo watched Pebble run off, calling the attention of whatever twisted he found.

☁ "You two stay with each other." Sprout practically ordered, looking back at you and Astro. "Me and Cosmo will be following Pebble. Keep track of which direction you go in."

☁ "Of course, thank you dad." Vee piped in behind him with a teasing cackle, even as the berry turned around to glare at her.

☁ "Come now, let's move. It's no fair to Pebble if he's suffering for our dallying." Rodger quickly cut in, walking forward to a nearby machine.

☁ "We'll stick together." You quickly amended, giving Sprout a soft smile before you and Astro were both walking off, sticking close to the walls for a worst case scenario.

☁ The run quickly turned into just that as every minute that passed there seemed to be the sound of someone getting hit. Blackouts were always hard, especially the further up you got, as you never knew how many Twisteds there were. You were convinced the onl y reason you and Astro stayed safe was because of Vee's ability, highlighting any twisteds wandering near the two of you.

☁ Well that and Astro's stealth which worked wonderfully as he kept you behind him, just in case.

☁ By the time the last machine was finished, you and Astro were hiding behind some crates near the elevator, quickly slipping in when it opened while eagerly awaiting the others. One by one, they trickled in, looking worse for wear. Beaten and bruised, stained in their own ichor, but healed. Not that you had any doubt in your healers afterall.

☁ Cosmo was the first one back, wincing, but standing. This was the last floor anyway. You'd take him to med bay right away.

☁ He still smiled when he saw you and Astro though, welcoming the kisses bestowed upon him with a tired wag in his curled tail (No one mentioned I gave Cosmo a tail. Y'all. COSMO TAIL CMON).

☁ Sprout was next, joining the little huddle before you could even register he was there, burrowing right in the middle. He was fine as well, teasing Astro that he could've used the Stamina boost, but could tell the celestial was busy. The only response he got was a cheeky little shrug.

☁ The only toon left was Pebble, who announced his presence with a happy little bark, only for it to turn into a sharp yelp as he turned the corner and a Twisted Coal appeared out of seemingly nowhere, sinking her teeth into his side. She let go if only to snarl at Pebble, it gave the poor pup the opportunity to run into the elevator.

☁ There was a flurry of commotion as all eyes turned to Sprout and Cosmo, but Cosmo didn't have the means to heal Pebble without risking his own life and Sprout was fresh out of tapes after healing Rodger.

☁ And while you didn't like it, you knew what you'd have to do.

☁ Gently shuffling in between Sprout and Vee, who cradled Pebble between them, you swallowed whatever was choking you, extending your hands to gently lay on Pebble's side.

☁ Sprout's eyes were immediately on you, torn between protecting your comfort and healing Pebble, but you ignored his concerned looks. You nearly buckled before a hand on your shoulder had you glancing up, Astro giving you a soft smile as Cosmo immediately sat beside you, laying on your shoulder.

☁ With a deep breath, you sang the same verse you always did, feeling your ability thrum in your veins as you channeled the energy into the wound.

☁ It closed seamlessly and before they knew it, Pebble was back to his happy, tail-wagging, circle running self, giving you a cold lick in thanks along with another yip.

☁ Feeling drained from the action, you tired pat the rock as the elevator begins to return to the lobby.

☁ "Wow, I didn't know you could do that." Vee mentions in the silence, a grin on her face as she pets Pebble, who had darted over to her. "Neat trick."

☁ "That's my partner." Sprout beams, pride practically radiating off of him as you chuckle, leaning onto Cosmo. The cake roll presses a kiss to your temple as you do so, rubbing your shoulder as he watches Sprout and Vee quickly get into a playful argument.

☁ Astro is still behind you, even if he has the same, cocky, prideful look on his face that Sprout did.

☁ You're sure there are consequences that'll come from this, but as you doze just slightly against Cosmo's shoulder, you can't really find it in yourself to care.

☁ As you finally give yourself to the urge to fall asleep, you catch Astro's eye, and a sudden realization hit you.

☁ Astro, you sneaky son of a bitch.

Hi! Quick question. Do you think Oreshi and Bokushi interact often? If so, what do you think they talk about?

I think they did alot when akashi was young (pre teiko switch) than when he switched I know it's mentioned oreshi just slept 💀 so I think bokushi was kinda on his own post teiko switch which mustve been hard. Than post wintercup switch back I get the vibe that bokushi also "slept" or he was less active, and that makes the merge during last game more sad to me cause it's like "estranged siblings who actually love each other they're just complicated asf and cant communicate"

when they where younger they where technically each others first friend/brother, the only person they could talk to about how they really felt. Than in teiko I could see bokushi constantly making comments about people to oreshi lmao

Post wintercup switch back I think it took awhile for bokushi to talk and when he did it was short kind of bitter answers (not really bitter mans just pouty lol)

And once they merge I assume they don't talk anymore cause ??? They're like one now right? Which is sad to me cause with a relationship like that you assume they're always gonna be there so when they leave so suddenly you realize how much you took for granted

Seeing as Nick, Matt and Chris were supposed to post their newest podcast today, they had quickly recorded one almost as soon as they had arrived back in Los Angeles. They had used up all the ones they had pre-recorded before going on tour, and so it felt fitting that today’s podcast had been about them summarising the Versus Tour they had ended two weeks ago.

The triplets had been on tour for a month and had gone to fourteen different cities across the United States. They had gone on explaining how eye opening it had been for them, even on a personal level as they had felt like it had deeply impacted them. They’d focused on the idea that they had never been expecting to achieve so much and that nothing had prepared them for meeting so many people at once, which had been a massive accomplishment for Matt as they had gone on stage in front of seven hundred to two thousand people depending on the venue.

Going on tour had also been a way for Nick, Matt and Chris to assert their individuality as the whole concept had been based on the fans’ dynamic with them. Indeed, their fandom was divided into ‘Nick girls’, ‘Matt girls’ and ‘Chris girls’, which helped the triplets feel like individuals in a group. It had truly been an experience that was shaping them for the years to come as they had been able to meet their fans for the second time this year, in a playful and fun atmosphere.

They’d eventually finished the podcast by mentioning how glad they had been to have had their friend Tril touring with them for the last shows and they’d talked about the activities they all did together off camera. It had then led the triplets to talk about friendship, and especially making new friends either in person or online. This had unknowingly been a special conversation for Matt as he had thought about the friend he had finally met by chance. Nick and Chris had picked up on Matt’s discreet change of attitude regarding the topic as the oldest triplet then talked about randomly meeting a “mutual” in real life when it wasn’t planned, which was how Matt had met Lily after several months of talking to her. Although they had met under the circumstances of an ‘artist-fan’ relationship, it had eventually felt natural when they both switched to the ‘Matt and Lily’ dynamic they’d been having when texting.

After reminiscing about this, Matt saw that he had received a text from his shared groupchat with his brothers and friends from the East Coast.

Once again, favouritism💀

“What are we actually filming?” Matt asked as he joined Nick in the living-room.

“The Fortnite vid, you remember the plan?” The blonde replied.

Matt nodded, before he and his brothers got ready to film the introduction to the video. They would all play together, and everytime one of them would make a kill in the game, they would swap places and try to achieve a Victory Royale. They then actually began playing and recorded Matt choosing the design of the character they would use.

Everything had been going great during their first rotations, the triplets mostly celebrating the way they would successfully transition between them. That was until Chris was the first one to be killed, ruining their chances to win.

“NOOOOOO!!” Nick and Matt exclaimed at the same time.

“We were doing so good!” The oldest triplet was devastated as he had been hoping that they would get it on their first try. Like earlier, Nick was once again the first to go as he was landing on the map. “AAARGH YOU FUCKING BITCH!” He yelled as someone was attacking him even before he had finished landing.

Nick was now on the run to try and find his attacker, with the support of Matt and Chris behind him. Following his success, Nick then left the chair and gave the controller to Chris who took his place. Each time one of the triplets was the one playing, the focus on their face was obvious as they were all taking their mission very seriously. Matt’s turn then came again, but he eventually got killed which made him hit the desk as he was mad at himself and at the player who had killed him.

“Sorry guys,” Matt said as he calmed down.

“No problem bro,” Chris reassured him. “It was only our second attempt so we’re good.”

Unfortunately, it seems that Chris had jinxed them as they were now on their fifth attempt, and still no Victory Royale on sight. None of them were ever mad at the others for being killed as they had all been laughing every chance they got when swapping places. For the next hour or so, they eventually did eight different tries – all unsuccessful, which Nick was deciding to later cut in small segments.

“No way in hell will I show how shit we are right now”, the blonde said as the camera was cut.

“Not really my fault though”, Chris replied. “I’m not the one dying the most.”

“Shut up Chris, we’ll see how you do now.” Matt was becoming annoyed as he knew he was getting killed a bit too often for his liking.

“Yeah, yeah.” Chris rolled his eyes. “We’ll see how you do, getting killed again.”

And that he did, as Matt got indeed killed during their ninth attempt. Another couple attempts followed, with Nick in between two asking his brothers to pose for their thumbnail.

“I feel like Alex gonna enjoy that shit”, Chris said with a laugh as it took them a good minute to all pose.

“For real”, Matt agreed. “She’s definitely bullying us for putting that in the video.”

“Wait”, Nick called. “Should I leave mentions of her in?”

“I don’t think we should,” Chris answered after thinking about it for a couple of seconds. “Maybe later if her or Lily ever end up in one of our videos, well actually in it you know.”

Nick nodded at Chris’s explanation, and therefore decided that he would cut the moments in which they would mention their friends – who had technically never been exposed to the public, apart from their names having been called out during the baking video they had filmed. The oldest triplet also knew that at one point, Matt would eventually mention Lily as Fortnite was one of their common points and Alex had now quickly been brought up.

For the next couple of attempts, it was noticeable that Nick was getting better, which led to Chris encouraging him more and more as they kept going. Matt was trying his best to stay focused and not get killed again, which proved to be somewhat difficult as his brothers were saying random stuff behind him:

“Drinkie drink”, Chris started. “Take a sip of drinkie, little drinkie.”

Matt was doing his best not to laugh at his brothers’ antics, but he couldn’t help the smile on his face when Nick began talking about getting drunk. Playing with Lily is way more peaceful… Matt thought as another smile took place on his face, although it still looked like it was due to Chris and Nick.

Nothing much had now been going on, apart from Nick twerking after a kill and Matt getting mad again as he was still the one getting killed the most out of them, which happened again during their twelfth attempt.

“WHAT!” Matt angrily exclaimed.

“Are you gonna die every time?” Nick asked, almost unbothered but still done with how Matt kept losing. “I wonder how Lily can stand playing with you if you always get killed.”

“I–” Matt was now at a loss for words. Although Nick had only wanted to tease him and get on Matt’s nerves, the middle triplet took it seriously. “You can ask her, I’m an excellent player!”

“With her, maybe, but not with us right now”. Chris raised an eyebrow at Matt who was almost starting to sulk. “And we need you right now, so think about Lily later.”

“I wasn’t even the one to talk about her first!” Matt retorted, currently feeling bullied by his brothers and definitely planning on complaining to Lily.

After their sixteenth attempt, Matt now had the perfect opportunity to somewhat get back at Nick.

“Oh my God, we’re awful.” Nick dramatically put his hands on his head.

“You’re awful”, Matt immediately replied in the most monotone way.

“You just died,” Nick quickly retorted. “You’re just negative right now because you’d rather play with someone else.”

“Actually, yes.” Matt decided to appear in front of the camera as he was getting fed up. Facing it, he started talking to the future viewers. “Y’all should know that I have a friend ten times better than Nick here, so please excuse me for missing the times when I actually won.”

“That was insane”, Chris said as his voice sounded a bit muffled due to him being away from the camera but the microphone had still picked up his comment. “You’re down bad bro.”

“Ok Nick, cut that shit.” Matt was absolutely not ready to have people – also known as their lovely and peaceful fans, absolutely not invasive at all for thirteen year olds – prying into his private friendships.

When they eventually went back to playing, it led to a tense moment with Chris trying to kill two players at the same time, while also being out in the open. Matt and Nick were stressing behind, the latter prepared to switch places as soon as Chris would succeed – which he did.

“Who’s the fucking best?” He asked as Matt offered him a high five. “I’m the fucking best!” Chris then left the frame of the camera before coming back with a proud grin and repeating his last sentence several times.

It then seems that the triplets were on a roll as Nick and Matt successfully took out a player each, before it was Chris’s turn again. We can do it, Matt thought as he was carefully watching his younger brother focused on the game. When Chris killed a guy that had just landed, Nick quickly took the controller as Chris gave him the headphones. Still as careful as before, Nick was making his way on the map while his brothers tried to give him advice:

“Turn to the right a little”, Matt suggested.

“Shut up”, Nick bluntly replied as he needed to do it by himself.

Still way more peaceful to play with her, Matt repeated in his mind as he thought about how Lily was always sweet and kindly accepting Matt’s advice when they played together.

Nick had however been right to act like that as soon enough, he killed the player he was hunting before giving up the seat for Matt to take. At that moment, the three brothers realised that they were the closest ever to a Victory Royale. For the next few minutes, they were now harbouring nervous yet excited smiles as they were watching Matt’s every move on the computer screen.

“YES!” Nick and Chris both cheered when Matt killed the last player left, therefore granting them the long awaited win.

Congratulating their brother, the oldest and youngest pulled Matt into a group hug before Nick decided that he needed to document their success with a picture – eventually posted on their weekly Instagram dump.

“Guys”, Nick began. “I wanna thank my mum, I wanna thank ‘OG’ Fortnite coming back, I wanna thank my freshman year self… oh my gosh!” He then happily sighed.

All of them now had proud smiles on as they were glad to have achieved what they did.

“I’m so proud of us”, Nick softly said as he had his arms around his two brothers while they were reviewing their stats.

“I’m gonna go to bed”, Matt announced as they were finishing the outro for the video.

“Will you, though?” Chris asked with a smirk. “You should share your accomplishments with someone first, don’t you think?

“Shut up Chris”, Matt retorted. “I don’t wanna spoil her the video so I won’t mention it.”

“Crazy how Chris didn’t say any names but you directly thought of someone specific”, Nick teased before turning the camera off – he would cut out those last sentences later so he didn’t care about it still recording.

“Oh my God, leave me alone.” Matt was only half annoyed as he knew his brothers were right, deep down, so he just patted them on the back before leaving. I do hope she’ll be proud though…

A couple of days later, the video of the triplets playing Fortnite had been released; and on the same evening, Matt received unexpected texts that made him weirdly smile when he saw the author as he then thought of a reply.

I'm feeling better now thankfully, it was just a bad episode of ... something??? Tbh I don't even really know what the heck set me off yesterday and looking back on it, I'm a bit embarrassed with myself for making it known to Tumblr that I was stressed or whatever to begin with (that and I become overly chatty whenever I get like that), but oh well at least I didn't say something overly damning so no use in fretting lmao

ANYWHO OCS LORE LETSSS GOOOO BECAUSE HOLY CRAP THERES A LOT TO THESE TWO SPECIFICALLY

Aight so Lea Maniac, the queen, the girl boss herself. We stan a lovely bartender who can kick ass.

Had this character since 2018-2019 I believe(?) She started off as an Animaniacs ocs, a babysitter to the Warners and basically acted as their "Cool Mom Who Choses Violence on Anyone Who So Much as Glances at Her Kids Wrong". In Animaniacs-verse, her backstory was that she was created in 1929-ish from a studio named Syntax Maniac for a series of cartoons titled "Toon Mania" (which was the beta title for "Topsy-Turvy Toons" at the time). Lea was and still is someone who could keep up with the Warners' zany antics, alongside her fiance at the time, Loreto Wolfe. Her and Bugs had a very sibling-like dynamic in their friendship.

Now though, she's a toon whose got her own universe and her own friends, family, and origins without being tied to other pre-existing media (though there are many references to staples in animation history)

Lea Maniac is the eldest of 3 sisters, the two younger ones, LeeMay and Maylee, being twins. Daughter of Mr. Maniac (William "Bill" Maniac) and Mrs. Maniac (Claire Doug-Maniac) who were some of the first "living cartoons" featured in early shorts by Syntax Maniac Studios back in the late 1920's, but by no means famous. No one had even heard of this studio and was often losing animators to work on their shorts.

It wasn't until September 15th, 1941 that Lea Maniac made her first debut in the short "Devil Dog Darlin' " that the studio began to gain recognition and Lea became the unofficial face of Syntax Maniac Studios. She co-starred with her now Husband(tm), Loreto Wolfe, but at the time the two weren't even friends, just mere coworkers who happened to share the same set of creators. Originally, the animators had designed Loreto to be a woman and Lea's rival until Loreto approached one of them (lead animator, Lowell Mantei - who was also responsible for Lea's creation) in hopes of a redesign. From then, the script for on-screen was changed from the two being rivals, to lovers.

Off-screen Lea struggled at home, William (someone she refuses, even to this day, to ever call "Dad") was an abusive, alcoholic, asshole to both his own wife and children (not gonna specific what exactly the abuse entailed because it's genuinely distressing). She also struggled "fitting-in" to society because of how "unlady-like" and "wacky" she was compared to some of the other toons (and ya' girl was very much breaking gender roles and stereotypes of all kinds whenever she could, especially in the 40s, both on and off set).

It wasn't until one day after filming that Loreto happened to stumble upon a very distraught Lea Maniac, who was just so tired and scared of going back to living under the same roof as her father... but despite all of it,, she cares about her family, her sisters... even if they hate her even all these years later..

The two Co-Stars slowly became friends and in the late 1950s, they begin dating (and were on and off for a few years, experimenting with their orientations, etc...) It wasn't until 1964 that they officially got married. They still are happily in love with each other to this day.

Though over the years, even before the two ever started dating, Lea always had a serious alcohol and smoking problem. It had only gotten worse since she was let-off by the studio after an accident left parts of her body scarred (Syntax Maniac Studios would seen shut down in the 70s). Despite it all, she genuinely tries to improve upon these habits of hers, and Loreto is nothing short of supportive of his wife (and vice-versa). Lea is always willing to lend a shoulder to cry on for her husband. The two of them want to someday adopt kids of their own, it's a goal that motivates Lea to work on her issues.

Loreto owns a bakery that is popular to the local townsfolk. Lea works as a bartender at The Vintage Delirium, she loves all her coworkers dearly (even if they completely ban her from taking a sip lol) and her buddy, Edward Ponds, is always a blast to hang out with on any day of the week.

Lea and Loreto live in Wackyville and across from their street live two foster kids, Lilly Goats and Barbara "Barbie" Bunny. They love Lea's stories from her's and Loreto's early acting days (and of course all the sweets Loreto gives them).

ALRIGHT ITS MARLEY TIME BABYYYYY ITS THE GIRL'S TIME TO SHINE WOOO

So my girl, Marley Solano, is a 17 yr old, Cuban-American, lesbian, whose been in the foster care system since she was 5 years old, and sees the best in everyone. She's also something called a "Heaven's Blessing".

At this point in her life, she doubts she'll ever find her "forever home" given how shit the system is (plus, it's not like she remembers what her parents were even like anyways). Despite her circumstances, she is a Straight A student and is nothing short of determined to make it to college. She refuses to be another statistic in the shit system (look as a former foster kid, I've got BEEF with how awful it is so forgive me for projecting a bit)

Marley loves baseball, she never goes anywhere without her prized baseball bat. It's the one possession she has that is actually HERS and she'll be damned if she let's anyone take it from her.

Her latest home is with a family of five: A Husband, A Wife, and their 3 middle school kids.

They're not the worst family she's been with, at worst they just seem to treat her like an unwanted pet or just ignore her existence entirely. That's fine. She's totally fine. It's not like she wishes they were more involved with her life or anything. Totally not wishing for that at all whatsoever. Nope.

Marley is always trying out for baseball teams when it's season, she always makes the team, but can never stick with them given how often she transfers school. Any bond she's had with teammates is usually shattered within a month or two.

This time though, seems longer, granted her team this time is not as welcoming to her, but its a nice change. Outside of baseball and academics, Marley takes cares of stray cats in the street. One night, she finds this little black stray cat, trapped and with an injured eye. She treats him and the little cat leads her to a secluded patch of trees behind an abandoned building.

She visits the little cat often, it's the closest thing she has to a pet. She names him "Knight" for how fearless and protective he is of Marley whenever other strays wonder too close to her. Like a little knight in shining armor.

One day, on her visit to Knight, she hear crying from inside the small secluded building. Of course, Marley goes to check it out.

In it, she meets Andria Skyes, another student from the same school she recently transferred to.

Andria had been chased by a group of bullies from their school for "being a witch" in their sick, usual game of "Witchhunting". She has no shame is calling herself a witch, her tearful frustration comes from being tired of having to "deal with it", having to do so since middle school. This was essentially the straw that broke the camel's back.

Marley reaches out to her... and Andria holds on.

The two become friends very shortly after. Andria even begins developing a crush on the other a month and a half later, with Marley's crush on Andria starting at the 2 months point lol

They take care of Knight together, Andria being the one to take him into her home. Marley visits often.

Two and a half months into their friendship, they admit their feelings to each other and share their first kiss. The two are fiercely protective of the other. And... there's something that Andria has noticed about Marley (besides the literally Rosy-Pink eyes)... it's how she physically responds to places that have spiritual attachments to them. Like say a church...

Every time the two have crossed the town church on the way to Andria's house, Marley feels revulsion to the point of nausea and sickness.

Another thing she noticed was Marley's lack of showing bare skin below the neck, including the palms of her hands. Andria figured she just didn't like showing skin and wouldn't ever budge, but she got an answer from Marley, who had decided one day to be vulnerable and show Andria her heavy scarring.

Marley has never willingly let anyone see all the scars that mark every inch of her body... until Andria. The weird thing about her scars, especially the oldest ones were that they were shaped like crucifixion crosses. Marley herself doesn't even know where they come from and frankly, she doesn't ever want to find out.

Marley is a character of mine who is heavily associated with religious imagery, the cross being the main one she is often seen with. With Marley, it represents that someone is watching over her. Despite all her struggles and feelings of worthlessness in times of weakness, someone has been seeing and hearing her. Even if she herself doesn't believe in the idea of "guardian angels" or faith in supposedly all-powerful supernatural beings in general.

Months after her and Andria are well into their relationship, Marley one day is on her way to her foster home from Andria's house, only to fall through a fucking portal (conveniently) leading to another dimension outside the "natural realm".

Marley suddenly find herself stuck in one of the dimensions between Hell, Heaven, and Earth, which she will come to find out is called the "Realm of Cryptids and Creatures" where every supernatural legend originates from (and occasionally leaks into the Natural Realm) they are all of Heaven and Hell's rejects that escaped going to the VoidFall Dimension, where if you stay long enough, your entire existence will erode away, all traces will be lost forever. If you have a soul however, this process is infinitely more painful as the soul resists being extinguished.

It is in the Realm of Crypids and Creatures that Marley Solano will meet The Lost Messenger, Evangelos.

He had hid from the eyes of Heaven over thousands of years ago, when Creator began having thoughts of making something called "Heaven's Blessings"... humans whose souls are one portion of a fallen angel. Incredibly rare to come across.Their sole life's mission is to grant a specific miracle to one fully human soul, should they die before they complete this miracle they will be doomed to reincarnation until they complete it. Should they succeed however. They are granted access to Paradise, but even this is even more rare. Their human lives are full of sorrow and suffering, the two parts of their souls constantly wailing in agony and react very strongly to spiritual corruption. Marley's case is no different.

Evangelos, however, had been watching over Marley from the Realm of Cryptids and Creatures since the minute she took her first breath on Earth.

He'll admit he's grown attached to the kid.

(Also Marley's nickname is Mars, cuz I think it's cute)

the costuming in this is also soooo exquisite. the embroidery? the fabrics? the details? how every sect and clan has a distinct style and architecture? (also ik they based each off of dif periods in chinese history which is REALLY fucking cool) just chefs kiss

the direction too!. i enjoy the unusual camera movements and i think they give it that Vibe, also their composition is PARTICULARLY good when it comes to telling the subtext through position of camera/position of character (like nhs off to the side in scenes he at first glance doesnt need to be/ how lwj is often centered when hes Jealous Yearning at wwx being affectionate w other ppl, wwx return from burial mounds etc)

ik madam yu is like Badass Milf Check and shes not getting any mom of the year awards but im delighted at how messy she is. IMAGINE that woman on tiktok

the family dynamics in general on this showwwww, both blood/ adopted/ found families, brotherly bonds and lifelong friendships just. rly. truly. fucked me up. theyre all so important and complicated and well rounded and beautiful and tragic

and beyond being a Win For the Gays im so glad the relationships w wwx and jiang yanli/ wen qing were NOT changed from platonic bc they are so much better like that imo. like maybe if we didnt Live In A Society it wouldnt be so, but the fact wwx and others can love and value them so much and theres nothing romantic or sexual abt it is like. so refreshing. especially @ jyl, with the way he and jc are overprotective of her and shes such a nurturing/care taker figure for them, it would just not vibe as well if they made it romantic

wwx like... having thrown his whole life away to help the wens (yeah the sect leaders and jin guangshan in particular wanting his stygian tiger amulet was an Element but still) and not.... necessarily regretting it, but grappling with all of the consequences of it... becoming moody and drepressed at times, missing his family and lotus pier and his friends and probably simply missing being around people and causing trouble, extrovert that he is, lashing out at the wens and at a-yuan, just in general the whole messiness of that experience

the way the resentful energy does affect his temperament is rly nice bc its not too in your face,(i mean outside of the Shaky Hands of Rage) but like he clearly has a much lesser control on his anger and impulsivity (tall order) than both before bm and after hes ressurected

unsurprisingly, his most feral, most spiraling moment talking to the sect leaders on the roof and attacking them and even fighting lan zhan is among my favorite scenes... its like, so painful to watch but also so thrilling (and maybe my wen bbs dying arose some resentful energy in me what can i say)

and its JUST, all they ever wanted was to do good but then... war. and trauma. and hubris.

jiang cheng on the ground clearly thorn between what to do and feel is a Mood, lets just say

i was already crying when jyl showed up, but if i wasnt-

i suffered SO MUCH through this series trying to figure out WHY jc would kill wwx. and when i understood. its somehow not as bad as i thought and also MUCH MUCH WORSE

and jiang cheng. being the tough love uncle . having raised the yunmeng jiang clan from the rubble all alone, his whole family dead, some of it on the blame of his own brother, his siblings, his closest friends gone.......and only jin ling there needing his guidance.

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN JIN LING BEING A LIFELINE FOR JIANG CHENG AND A-YUAN FOR LAN WANGJI AFTER THE BATTLE AT THE NIGHTLESS CITY

and like . the fact! that lwj and jc dislike each other!!. jc projects blame onto him for wwx both “leaving” him and indirectly causing their families deaths and when hes so consumed by it he makes wwx an enemy, lwj is there now? trying to protect him?? and lwj, who can never understand the pain that wwx , indirectly or not put jc through, but who was right there when jc tried to kill him and will never allow him to hurt wwx again. and how they like. in a way project blame of their tragedies onto each other while dealing with some type of survivor guilt and in their own way still loving wwx through it all??? amd in way its kind of fundamentally selfish but also tragically understandable? and like when u put it against the fact that after he disappears during the sunshot campaign they were looking for him together and fought together??

JUST. THE CHARACTERS. AND THE RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS. MAN. UGH. GOD.

and like i think thats what makes it so good? its such a sad and painful and violent story, edgy even, but its compelling bc at the center of it there are all of these relationships and different types of love and hope and. :( i love it

Hope for the future

one of the ?? things i love the most is the fact that the main cast are often in situations where theyre hunted/running but they like. never wear disguises... just going around in their gorgeous expensive clan clothes and hair ornaments and distinctive spiritual weapons.... maybe w a straw hat on, just for kicks

happy new year yall!! (*´∇｀*) it's been a little over a year since i started this blog, and oh boy what a journey it's been. before starting this blog, i was on a hiatus from writing since 2017 ish when i left my previous fandom, and i never expected to write again?? but finding a new fandom has changed that and well, here we are!!

thank you for supporting this little blog of mine whether you sent an ask or left a comment, aggressively reblogged 30 times in a row with memes attached, or said you wanted to punch me in the face (affectionately... i hope LMAO). thank you to my besties for putting up with my hyunjae enemy agenda, my regular anons for still being here, those that stop by, and anyone who has read something of mine and had it linger in their minds even for the briefest moment 🥺

1. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or what you predicted?

WAY. MORE. just look at that count!! i checked my old blog and i've averaged about 70k words written per year there, with ~40k published. i really didn't expect to be so immersed in fic again!! to be able to catch up to my pre-hiatus skill level, surpass it, and then write this many words after a four year hiatus... i'm pretty amazed. so yes way more than i expected

2. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?

i think last january i didn't even know i would write for tbz HAHA. this was supposed to be a jaehyun blog (as you can tell by the url LMAO) and i only had jaehyun works at the time!!

3. What’s your own favourite story of the year?

hmm it's in between my big four: if the lipstick matches, you look hideous on me, heartbreak for hire, this is how we fall. i'll probably have to read them again to pick a fave but bc of recency bias and all... i'll go with this is how we fall.

4. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

tried writing sm*t, but it's not published so does that count? also bloom for you was a bit of a challenge bc i've never written a hanahaki au before nor have i read many of them, and writing a happy ending for it was kind of difficult bc how does one resolve THAT? think it worked out in the end though :')

5. Do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?

hmm i'd say it would be to write for myself? something i recently realized was how draining writing was becoming, and that was bc i focused so much on meticulously planning them that it was no longer enjoyable to write. so yes we're gonna go back to writing self indulgent fantasies only in the new year HAHA

My best story of this year:

this is how we fall. i know i hated it while writing it but i think it turned out quite nice, especially the way everything falls into place by the end of it. there are themes of fate and destiny weaved into it, and a nice balance of humour, character development, and heart fluttering feels. and well, i heard it made some people believe in love again hahaha

My most popular story of this year:

you look hideous on me, for sure. by a landslide. call me a one hit wonder 🥴 haha jk but i definitely underestimated how much people would like bad boy sunwoo. oh and they were soulmates :'))

Most fun story to write:

if the lipstick matches!! i definitely enjoyed writing this the most bc it was SOOOO self indulgent. literally me projecting my own organic chem lab experience... including the near-kiss in the lab with goggles on (pls don't try that yall!!) and the scene with hyunjae at the party hehe. i loved writing kyeobmuda as y/n's besties, and their dynamics were honestly so much fun. and of course, it was my first ever tbz fic 🥺

Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:

ALDKJFKJ THAT'S GOTTA BE TAKE A HINT I'M SORRY. i hate the fic. i have nothing to say about it.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:

heartbreak for hire maybe? it was my first time writing younghoon in a long fic and the first time i caught feels for him ok. now he's made his way to the top three on my bias list :')

Hardest story to write:

TAKE A HINT SMH but also this is how we fall. these two tripped me up so bad with the plot points, but in different ways. take a hint was too simple, being an f2l that i didn't really know what to do with. this is how we fall was.... WAY too complex that i had to cut out plot points and it took me a long time to figure out how to do that.

Biggest surprise:

that you look hideous on me would turn out to be as popular as it is???? or that i'd write a hyunjae angst that broke people.... or that i'd have anything to do with hyunjae at all 🤡🤡🤡

Most unintentionally telling story:

hmm i guess i always end up weaving personal beliefs and ideologies into my fics in a way? this is how we fall, heartbreak for hire, and more than tomorrow have some lines i plucked out of my fave quotes or posts.

i got called out for always starting with dialogue, which is true only about half the time though

“So is he the one?” Eric whispers excitedly, tilting his head over at where Juyeon stood behind the counter. The barista seems to be busying himself with something, and you could only hope that nothing your two loud friends say today would reach his ears. “The cute barista who apparently likes your goat face—”

Favourite closing lines:

hands down my all time favourite closing lines. they tie up all loose ends of the fic and close it so nicely AND could also be up to interpretation. also i get shivers every time an author weaves the title into the story so that's kind of what i did here.

Now you don't have to look into his future to know that all the scenes you'd seen were about you. Now you can picture it—Sunwoo looking up from your laced hands on the table and seeing your smile, face no longer out of focus. Pulling away from your kiss in the orchard has you seeing your own gaze, surprised but content. And then there's this very moment when you see yourself in Sunwoo's eyes and you just know.
