So I just saw your most recent ask and I just wanted to reccomend two different HP pairs. Jegulus(Regulus Black and James Potter)is kinda a redemption arc pair that's usually full of angst and a pair I start to read when it gets cold. It's kinda a what if pair if that makes sense.

Tom Riddle/Harry Potter I know that you said you didn't like Voldemort's redemption fics and I don't either unless it has time travel when Tom is at Hogwarts and Harry gets yeeted into the past.

One non HP related pair that also has a non canon redemption arc/what if pair but is also angsty is Suguru Geto/Satoru Gojo from JJK. I haven't gotten into it yet but CooleyDoesThings on YouTube has convinced me through her videos that I should. They also have a ying yang color scheme going on that's popular in fandom.

That's all I got oh and Steve/Billy fics during the summer slap so hard but I enjoy Steve/Eddy during the colder months.

I'm due for an HP reread, and it'll be interesting to see if I'm more interested in the James Potter side of things than I have been in the past. It's been so long since my last reread that I honestly can't remember why him and that friend group weren't as big a deal for me as they have been for a lot of people. Regulus, you say? Hmm.

Thanks for the reminder that I really need to pick up JJK again. I got...six? Seven? Episodes into it and then put it down for some reason, which simply cannot stand.

yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.

to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!

i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.

also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.

they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.

they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.

i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

Long post. For anyone having Byler doubt right now let me share a few things I know are true and point out what I believe is the logical conclusion. (Some may disagree) Bear with me. It will all add up and hopefully bring some comfort.

Facts:

Before season 4 David Harbour spoiled that Will had feelings for Mike in an interview.

After season 4 vol 1 Byler exploded on social media. The pairing gained a huge following. Byler won ship of the year. Noah despite having less screen time than his cast mates won the people’s choice award for best male actor. People were so desperate to prove byler endgame they paid for fake scripts which led to the ST writers account agreeing to share scenes people wanted to read. The van scene was in highest demand.

Simultaneously, there is a rise in homophobia in the fandom. We all remember getting bible verses in our ask boxes after posting GIFs of Mike’s soupy face when he looks at Will.

The Duffers shifted from saying they were “tuning out the noise” to taking in fan feedback.

David Harbour was told the ending of stranger things.

A year ago (2023) he said people need to accept Mike is in love with eleven. Once again spoiling an important part of the final season. (Personally this was the moment I gave up on Byler happening and my heart broke. I was so sad about what they turned Mike into and that they used Will’s love to fix a hetero relationship. They never explained mike’s sudden cruelty towards Will. I felt it wasn’t bad writing it was just lazy and somehow that was worse. I stepped back from ST and moved on to other more queer friendly stories. It seems silly since this is just a TV show but I think everyone who ships Byler can attest to how invested you can become in these boys and the remarkably selfless love Will gives to Mike.)

They start filming season 5. Throughout the year we get bts pics. I peeked at these and tried not to get my hopes up again. I told myself the fact there were so many byler pics and so few mileven pics didn’t mean anything. Byler is more popular. Sharing pictures of them will get more attention, so I dismissed this as people seeking clout.

The cast says over and over the Duffers can’t please everyone. I figured this was them trying to let the passionate Byler fandom down easy.

Millie hints her ending in the story is not typical.

Then… the cast reads the final script. They all officially know the ending. Every detail of it.

Noah does his first panel in a long time. In which he says “you could never tell of [mike and Will’s relationship] was something romantic or just a really special friendship.”

Several posts on social media show up as people say they won’t watch the final season because Noah’s words make them think Byler is clearly going to happen.

David Harbour said in a recent interview that the Duffers are in tune with the audience and what they want in terms of pairings. Look above for all of the “subtle” (lol) hints the fans have been giving that Byler should be endgame.

My personal conclusion/opinion/guess:

Mike and Will are going to end up together. It wasn’t the original plan but after seeing the fans point out all of the obvious signs and show their love for the relationship it was the logical choice. Anyone who sees all the “Byler proof” has to admit there are real signs of romance on both sides whether they were intentional or not. Going forward all of the hints we’ve picked up on will have meaning, even if they began as accidents.

David Harbour didn’t know about the byler part of the finale until the final table read. He spoiled things twice before and they didn’t trust him to not do it again. Which was justified because he literally spoiled byler endgame in the last interview I mentioned. Dude can’t keep quiet. I’m sure he has believed he was telling the truth every time.

Most of the cast probably didn’t know until the final table read. If the season is written the way I think will be: we watch Mike over several episodes realize he’s fallen out of love with Eleven and find the courage to admit he loves Will (because man it’s so obvious). The only people who would need to know are Finn, Noah and Millie if Mike and Will don’t officially end up together until the end of the season (doesn’t mean we won’t get a lot of great byler moments in the build up. They seem to be having a lot of one on one time in bts pics.)

Keeping Byler endgame top secret even from the cast makes sense to me because there are people (who I sincerely don’t get why they watch ST) who will refuse to watch the show if the final season is centered on a gay couple. Also, one of the most popular mainstream TV shows on the planet ending this way will be talked about for years and have a huge impact.

Sometimes doing what the fans are begging for isn’t cheap “fan service.” It’s having the common sense and humility listen to thousands of people who love your show and admit Mike’s character was going in the wrong direction.

For fans of Avatar the Last Airbender: creators Brian and Mike originally planned for Toph to be male. Their head writer Aaron Ehasz suggested making her a girl, which they initially resisted. Then they rolled all of the qualities of the tough guy they originally planned into a twelve year old girl. They later had a lot of boys come up to them saying Toph was their favorite character. They said “Sometimes it’s more satisfying to be wrong than to be right.”

Personal take: there’s no reason to be upset at the original plan because they made the right call in the end.

I know it’s important to some people for byler to be the plan all along. And maybe it was, I have no way of knowing. But all I personally need is for them to do right by Will and Mike as characters.

“If Byler happens Stranger Things is ruined”

Good thing the world does not revolve around you! Same goes for any ship people say this about (obviously non-problematic and likely endgame ones). I don’t know if this never occurred to you but if they have been building up Will’s love for Mike since season 1, (they have), then it’s entirely possible that they have been building Byler up since then.

Why do y’all act like they would truly put something like a canon queer ship, involving two main and popular characters (one being perceived as straight and in love with his girlfriend by half the fandom) simply for fan service? Not to mention the Byler fandom was so small before season 4’s release. Making a very complex and overlooked ship endgame simply because a lot of people ship it wouldn’t necessarily benefit The Duffers. Stranger Things is a HUGE show, but if they had been planning Byler it makes a lot of sense. They had no idea that the show would have the success that it did, which means if they did plan to make more seasons if it would’ve been a smaller less popular show, they could’ve added a queer ship without much issue. People tend to overlook the fact that even if some things, like Robin being lesbian, were added into the show when they were not planned doesn’t mean that something as big as a major endgame couple would be too. If Byler was to be made canon just for fan service, it would’ve had to have a large fan base before season 4. They could not have known that Byler was going to get as much attention as it did, which is why it wouldn’t make sense for them to change it up in the last season.

In conclusion, no, they wouldn’t be “making it endgame” because it was ALREADY endgame. From the start of the show. And you would have no way of knowing, lol.

Mileven, The General Audience, and You

This is probably my first time ever making a post like this, but I find this discussion interesting. Also I just wanted a punchy title lol.

There has been a lot of discussion about 'The General Audience', more often called the GA when discussing Byler & Mileven, and I want add my piece (with at least one piece of evidence... My Mom)

Milevens Claims about the General Audience

So, I see Milevens claim that the General Audience is entirely on Milevens side, and that they believe in the ship.

I'd like to ask them where they end up getting this information post-Season 3 release.

This is entirely correct if you base it off of Season 1 & 2. It was a ship that people were rooting for! There were no flaws to speak on and their journey for each other was considered cute. But, well, there's more than 2 seasons of Stranger Things.

Season 3 was essentially the season to plant the seeds of doubt about Mike & Eleven having and keeping a romantic relationship. Season 1 was mostly unromantic, and Season 2 they were separated till the end - so by Season 3 when they had each other, all should be well, right?

Wrong. The cracks in the ship became more prevalent than ever. It also kicked off the Mike Wheeler hate. And, to be frank, Season 3 is also the worst season for him.

...And then we have Season 4. Mike & Eleven's plots with each other continue to be their only plotlines together. while I wasn't there for the Season 3 backlash, I was absolutely there for the Season 4 backlash. even within spaces that didn't ship Byler, Mileven was disliked.

I feel like the likes on this tweet speak volumes.

I do not believe the GA dislikes Mileven, but I do think they are tired of their relationship at this point - because it's been made up of more conflict than actual relationship stuff lol.

So why do Milevens still push the narrative that the GA still loves Mike and Eleven together? Because the GA is important! The reception to parts of the show from the audience ends up being something to at least take into account during the making of the next season, and if the GA are no longer that receptive to Mileven, then where does that leave the shippers?

My Mom

I mentioned her for a reason, because she's one of the people you can consider the General Audience. Or perhaps even a huge fan. She is a big fan of this show, collects merchandise and everything. Her favorite character is Eleven, and she's been watching since season 1 was released.

She is also a Mileven fan. She thinks they're cute together mostly, and she doesn't engage with fancommunities for Stranger Things (eg Reddit/Tumblr). She just lives in her own world ST-wise.

So when I asked her what she thought if Mileven broke up in Season 5, she said this. "Yeah, that would make sense. They haven't really been together long."

I was surprised, but I end up finding it more funny than anything. If my mom, who really loved Mileven & has never engaged with fancontent thinks it makes sense if Mileven broke up, than the GA who are probably less diehard than her are probably gonna be fine with Mileven breaking up.

TL;DR

The GA aren't as big of fans of Mileven as the shippers claim they are, and are probably going to end up fine if they broke up, lol.

Think about it: if there really was no possibility of a Byler endgame, people who dislike the idea would just be a lot CALMER about it, and not act this way. (Someone pointed out: Do we ever see this vitriol when it comes to Elmax breaking up Mileven? Nope!)

Um, but it IS? We had an ENTIRE RUSSIAN PRISON BREAK SUBPLOT in s4 whose only real purpose was for Joyce and Hopper to reunite. And the A plot had Max's story and Lumax mixed in. Methinks some people aren't happy with GAY romance in their horror/sci-fi show.

Of course, everyone who answered the OP "Yes, with Mike!" gets downvotes. (Not my downvote!) And even just saying that you ship Byler but would be okay if Will ends up with someone ELSE besides Mike gets hasty downvotes:

Anyway, in conclusion, if Byler were NOT a real possibility at all, would (some) Mileven fans act this way, as if you're touching a sore spot and they need to lash back?

(Note that I include among "Milevens" those that are just homophobic or anti-Byler, because in the end they want Mike to be with Eleven, too.) I'm sure there are many cool Milevens out there. But DAMN are some of these reactions at the ST subreddit out of proportion...

The writers have said that they are sticking close to the second half of the book this season, which is why I don't see the trepidation that you see in the final Loumand scene. Because if any part of Louis feels like he has to sleep with Armand to keep Claudia safe, then what is the point of the missing diary pages? What is the point of Claudia yelling at him for picking another man over her? Why does Louis look 100% turned on in the preview we got of his sex scene with Armand?

The fatal flaw of the Louis/Claudia relationship in the book is that Louis is so blinded by his love for Armand that he can't fathom that he would be a threat to Claudia. This doesn't work in the show if Louis knows from the beginning that Armand is a threat. I know Jacob said that Dreamstat is Louis' inner voice, but he also said that he's his guilty conscience. Let's face it; Dreamstat singing "Come to me you little whore" isn't Louis' subconscious telling him that Armand is evil. It's Louis' guilty conscience trying to prevent him from moving on. Louis could have fallen for literally anybody in Paris and he would still have Dreamstat insulting his love interest and telling him not to go for it.

And before you accuse me of having Loumand shipper lenses on, let me just say that the only ship I'm invested in is ArmanDaniel. I enjoy Loustat and Loumand and Armandstat, but I'm not attached to any of these romances. So this isn't bias talking

Okay. All of that plays into all of this as well, of course.

However, book canonically Armand also put spells on Louis to make him do things, literally influence his actions. Makes him turn Madeleine, for example.

It is no wonder Armand comments on Louis as he does in his own book.

I mean... the show has been very clear wrt to the "golden cage" Louis is in. It has been said so as well by Hannah.

Of course it's a complicated beast. Of course there was attraction. I'm not denying that.

But the show has also made clear that they would go the gaslighting route since the SDCC posters. Like, they never even promoted Loumand.

Given that Jacob said it would go darker from hereon... ????

DreamStat is more than a guilty conscience though, "he" says what Louis will not say out loud. I think that will come across more directly in the upcoming episodes, since we've seen some of it in the trailers already.

And, you know, sex can be fun even if you entered a relationship under difficult circumstances.

They're a super cute idea and I totally get the appeal, although Harringrove is my Steve OTP and I'm a weirdly monogamous shipper most of the time.

So guys im lowkey getting bullied by one of my friends that ships mileven.. and its all because i ship byler goodbye. me and few other friends from my group LOVES stranger things so much.. and my other friends that ship mileven are very respectful about it and shes the only one that has been so mean And disrespectful.. and shes the only one saying byler has 0 precent chance😭🙏🏻 when we talk about mileven and byler she just straight up pulled up that they danced together on the snowball,that they kissed multiple times and that they are canon. She always speaks about frim season 1-3 and when I talk about s4 and mileven, she’s just starts saying slurs on me and that I’m delusional and that I make everything gay lol.. is there somebody..that ships mileven..perhaps doubting about them..😝😜

i think this mostly got traction because myself and several others continued to riff on it, and it was delightful. example no. 5001 that bucktommy had unlimited fun potential as a ship.

The s2 "Rings of Power" finale was great!!! 😀 A lot happened that I expected, and actually was leaked again, but still had some surprises too. Overall, I really enjoyed the season and what we got, including for Haladriel. All the spoilery things behind a cut, but also we're getting great interviews with the cast/writers now too with more insight, especially from Charlie, and about s3 and I'm so excited for that even if we likely have to wait 2 years again. LOL But so much to talk about.

Have to start with Haladriel and honestly I'm totally fine with what we got. I know wanted more but again I had low expectations for the season and we got so much more than I expected. This finale did confirm to me that Sauron does love her, but it's now twisted like a lot of other enemies to lovers ships. They had him tell her back in Halbrand form that again he didn't lie about everything and that what he felt and they had was real. He also again told her about how they do have things in common and she felt it too. Then about how he was going to have her as queen and that he was going to serve her had she said yes. Also being happy to see Nenya and how beautiful it was, even though like an angry ex-fiance/husband he wanted it back. LOL Seems to confirm that in the show he and Celebrimbor designed it for her. Then even though he stabbed her with the crown it was in the shoulder and he even told her he didn't want to kill her. I'm also certain he helped slow her fall (which was part of a now true leak a few days ago about Galadriel jumping and Gil Galad & Elrond healing her) as he was shocked she jumped off the cliff and a fall from that height would've killed her instantly. They showed mostly her falling and didn't show him after he first reached for her, so that seems intentional.

Plus, I agree with others that she likely isn't fully healed from Morgoth's crown stab wound either and that it'll connect her further to Sauron. I noticed she kept touching it and was still weak and recovering. And we got to see Sauron talking with her telepathically now too. Charlie also in interviews this morning brought up how there will be more with Sauron and Galadriel too and that he never wanted her dead. We all knows this fits with the books too and he never stops trying to contact her and see her till the One Ring is destroyed by Frodo, so we're going to get more and show that this is one of the big dynamics of shows.

Also loved seeing Morfydd and Charlie hug and laugh in that bts video after the episode aired too. Those scenes had to have been hard to film, and with Charles Edwards too.

Still so sad about Celebrimbor even though I knew it was coming from the books. Loved though that he foresaw about Frodo too and the One Ring being Sauron's downfall, including that he would never go to Valinor again and being a prisoner in Middle Earth as that is exactly what happened as he's supposedly still stuck as a formless spirit to this day for those that think Middle Earth turned into our world. Really hope at least both the Charlies get Emmy awards as they deserve it.

Very happy they finally confirmed that The Stranger is Gandalf!!! 😀 I figured he was this whole time and now it's finally out there. Curious what will happen for him next and for Nori, as I saw the writers say she'll be on her own journey in s3 too. They writers also confirmed now The Dark Wizard is not Saruman, so he's likely the first Blue Wizard that went evil. So likely Saruman, Radagast, and the 2nd Blue will show up too.

Then happy Arondir is still alive, Elrond realized the rings are good, and the elves founded Imladris/Rivendell and are starting the war on Sauron. Also loved Isildur and Estrid kissed, and that was the most passionate kiss I've ever seen on the show so far. Was hoping Elendil and Miriel would kiss too but loved she gave him Narsil, and he's on his way to find his other son Anarion, who I still wonder if Tom Taylor is playing as his agency is still tagging him on posts and maybe the show cut his scenes till s3. Adar's death was so well done too and I'm glad Nenya healed him too and he was able to reconcile with Galadriel before that. Loved Durin III realized the rings were bad too and went after the balrog to save the others. Now Durin IV is king and his brother is coming to dispute it, which might be another reason they hired a writer from "The Crown" for s3.

I can't wait for s3 and already have seen Charlie teasing that him giving out the 9 is the main storyline for him. I still think he'll switch back to Halbrand or a more regal form of him to recruit the 9 men to his side. He also teased about making the One Ring but isn't sure yet when that happens and if it happens before Sauron goes to Numenor or after. And we know Numenor will be a huge part now that Isildur is going back and Elendil & Anarion will lead the Faithful. Hoping too Galadriel gets more screentime too and Morfydd's schedule is clear so her other projects don't interfere like this time, and since there is a gap in her storyline in the books that the show could add to. And I've got some fics ideas and I'm sure we'll get a lot of fan content till it's finally back.

somehow all my old hyperfixations are fighting for dominance in my brain which is probably like a way to fight off seasonal depression but regardless i’m thinking about Stranger Things and a fic I wrote twenty five pages of and then abandoned and I feel the need to share it with you

The premise was like? witch trials and scarlet letter based kind of but it was really lore deep so i feel the need to give you some highlights of it:

-Hawkins is like this Evil Wonderland/Upside down fairytale kingdom that’s like super religious because the place was so cursed

-They have a religious text called The Guidebook which prophecied the coming of anti-christ known as Kaz the Destroyer that would seek evil to prepare the world for the evil reign of Lord Vecna

-it also foretold of signs of this coming all of which are beginning to come true in the story

-there are rabid demodogs living in the forests that surround Hawkins so it’s really hard to get in and out and everyone knows not to go to the woods (i also thing the dogs couldn’t be in the light? so they stayed in the woods all the time and became more dangerous when the sun was down)

-Steve is the new king because his father had just recently died and its revealed that before the story starts, he keeps having “fits” and they diagnose him with nerves (he had anxiety lmao) so he had to go away to live on a merchant ship to get the sea air to fix his brain for two years and the story starts with him coming back to Hawkins after this time

-While away on the ship, he makes friends with another sailor named Robert and they suffer through the labor together until it’s revealed right before he returns to Hawkins that it’s actually Robin and she’s been a woman this whole time. Since her cover is blown she comes back to Hawkins with him

-Nancy is like a head advisor and one of the high priests and everyone expects Steve to marry her because they were together before his mental breakdown but neither of them are into it

-Dustin is like legally Steve’s brother because Steve’s dad and Dustin’s dad fought in the war together and when Dustin’s dad died Steve’s dad promised to look after him and Claudia so he’s the next heir and the prince of Hawkins

-Hopper is the head of guards and Joyce owns the best five and dime/bar establishment and their relationship is exactly the way it is in the show like will they won’t they but they will lol

-Alexei works the counter at the store and can’t speak very good English and has very strong silly opinions on things and the boys love him

-The party is as it always is- Lucas and Mike are sons of nobles so they’re allowed to hang out with Dustin and Will gets specially privileges for being awesome and Joyce and Hoppers kid.

-Byler is happening but like season 2 type Byler where they’re just silly and cute

-El is a genuine witch with powers and Joyce, Hopper, Will, and Jonathan are the only ones that know and they just don’t mention it like ever

-Will is meant to be the next prophet (but no one knows that) so he’s plagued by visions and it’s really complicated and exhausting for him

-There’s a side plot where Billy and Max belong to a caravan of traveling performers that always come to Hawkins for Steve’s birthday and Billy has this whole plan to become one of Steve’s concubines so he can pay for Max to go to school

-Max wants to stay with the caravan but she knows she doesn’t really have a choice so she’s annoyed at Steve constantly even though it’s not his fault. She also has a sixth sense like fortune teller premonition style and when things start to get funky in Hawkins she seizes and falls into a trance with the power of it and Billy is fucked up about it and will do anything to bring her back

-Eddie, of course, is just the local charlatan that’s kind of known for being a menace but is relatively harmless besides some vandalism here and there

-Eddie also continually kidnaps Robin because then Steve comes after her and it’s funny to him plus he has a crush on Steve and how else are they going to see each other and they have this funny little back and forth thing.

-Chrissy is killed the way The Guidebook described would happen and suddenly the catalyst to put the return of Kaz in motion has now happened

-Jason, the priest, is convinced that Eddie is the one chosen to be the reincarnation of Kaz and that there is evil in him and this total witch hunt for Eddie starts

-In the hysteria, Joyce keeps Will and El locked in the shops attack because she thinks the witchcraft+visions will get them killed so for a good chunk of it they’re just. up there

-This is when Max goes out and Billy goes to Steve to beg him to help her but like. he doesn’t know what to do

-A series of tortures are forced in Eddie like in Salem to prove that he is Kaz (even though he’s not) including one moment where they chain him to the floor of the church and cut his hair with rusty shears and it’s really humiliating and dehumanizing

-Steve has realized he’s also in love with him at this point but they have this like crisis relationship because the kingdom is in shambles and when Eddie gets dragged back to the castle bald with his head all sliced up Steve almost goes batshit insane but then Jason spins the narrative that Kaz has seduced Steve and he can’t be trusted and the manic mob of townspeople believe him

-They’re going to start testing Steve too so Eddie makes an under the table deal with Jason that they can burn him at the stake if they just leave Steve alone

-He doesn’t want Steve to know what’s going on because he’ll try to stop him but he also doesn’t want Steve to blame himself when it’s done, so he tries to convince Steve that he actually is Kaz so he’ll hate him, which features a tragic moment where Eddie is sobbing and Steve is sobbing too and he just keeps saying “no you’re not evil you couldn’t be evil they’ve gotten in your head but i’m gonna fix it i’m gonna make you feel better”

-Steve doesn’t realize what’s happening until it’s too late and Eddie is too gone to save so he really stupidly prays and begs for something to save Eddie literally anything and when he gets to the pyre, Eddie is there and he’s alive!

-Except he’s not because it’s not him, Kaz the Destroyer just heard Steve’s plea and because Eddie would’ve done anything Steve wanted, he now had the consent to reanimate Eddie’s body. so now Eddie really is Kaz lmao

-Because Eddie’s body “belongs” to Steve through technicality because they’re in love with each other, Kaz is forced to submit to Steve until Vecna returns. Which is coming quickly

-So then everybody gets together with this coming of Vecna situation because they’re gonna have to defeat him but they have Kaz and because Eddie was so in love with Steve, Kaz is also a little bit in love with Steve and is like fiercely protective of him

-When i wrote it i initially imagined a really awesome fencing montage where Kaz has to teach all of them individually how to fence

-They get together a group to travel beyond the Hawkins woods to find the reclusive current prophet (Murray) and he very quickly can tell everything that’s going on with everybody in true Murray fashion and they manage to convince him to come back to Hawkins to help.

-Will’s visions get more and more intense and Max begins to convulse and enter sort of possessed periods where she seems to be awake and speaks prophecies and it’s uber creepy before falling back into bed as lifeless as before. the demodogs start acting insane and begin venturing from their woods and into the town so nowhere is safe

-Vecna ultimately does end up coming back and Kaz’s loyalty shifts to him and Steve is devastated and the gang has to do a canon-typical attack to get defeat Vecna but there’s a moment where they are almost beat and Vecna has Steve by the throat and tells Kaz that it’s time to kill him

-He plays on the fact that Kaz should want to kill him because he was his servant for so long even though Steve is nothing but a mortal and this is his chance to get revenge

-Kaz steps up, holding Steve there off one of the balconies of the castle ready to strike and Steve realizes he’s going to die in this moment and then he sees it

-Kaz is standing there looking at him and his eyes (which turned blood red as soon as Kaz entered the body) flash for a moment back to Eddie’s brown eyes but it’s just a moment and Steve is sure he imagined it

-Then Kaz throws Steve down off the balcony, whips around and cuts Vecna’s head clean off, before leaping down after Steve to catch him before he hits the ground.

-I don’t remember exactly how it ended but I’m pretty sure Kaz ends up leaving Eddie’s body and taking over Jason’s instead and Eddie is able to come back to life because Kaz’s power healed the body and then him and Steve get married

-And Kaz is just like. around still because he’s better than Jason lmaoooo

Anyway sorry that was long I just thought it was worth sharing!

So... I forced my friend into watching Stranger Things (pt. 2)

I remember that I said we were on Season 2 the last post... Well, actually, we were on Season 3. I have NO IDEA what happened, it was some kind of delay in our brain, she simply said we were in s2 ep7 when we were actually on s3 ep2, AND I THOUGHT SHE WAS RIGHT LOL

We spent like, 20 minutes trying to undertand why she seemed to remember stuff about the episodes she supposedly had already seen.

SO... I'm gonna talk about her reactions on season 3

1. About Nancy and Jonathan

It was the highlight of season 3 for her, along with Max&El friendship. And it was REALLY FUN to see her talking about how they only do shit every damn time and don't actually solve shit... I... just look at it lool:

"Oh no, Jon and Nancy😭" "These two just keep all season trying to solve everything on their own and in the end they don’t solve anything🤡" "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE LOOOL" "EVERY DAMN SEASON THAT HAPPENS" "Guys, did you notice things go better when you're with adults? TELL THE ADULTS"

Plus, she said that in ep3, right after Will destroyed Castle Byers:

"I DON'T WANT TO SEE JON AND NANCY GETTING INTO TROUBLE FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW! SHOW ME WILL, TELL ME HE'S FINE"

However, she really had a soft spot for Jancy. By the end of the season, when the Byers were moving, she said more than once that "they should get married already."

2. About the Spy Squad - Steve, Dustin, Robin and Erica (yes, she named every group)

"Well, they're already ahead of Nancy and Jon. Those two did investigations for 3 seasons and got nowhere, while these guys, in 5 episodes, are in a Russian bunker 🤡" "Damn, Robin got the Russian code right, huh"

My girl was impressed by Robin.

"Robin is really smart if she understood Back to the Future drugged"

That was one of the phrases about Robin...

Anyways, she loved her, praised how intelligent she was multiple times and got this close with shipping Steve and Robin, but she got happy when Robin turned out to be lesbian (she didn't think the writers would have the guts, lol).

And she kept saying "Dude, you were right, I really like Steve now", AND I TOLD HER SHE'D LOVE HIM (I mean, who doesn't?)

Also, she thought Erica was weird, but as soon as Erica said they were doing "child endangerment", Erica became one of her favorites, I'm sure of that. The only one with common sense.

3. About Max and Eleven

I can't say much, she just loved them a lot. She thought Max was being good when helping El with her relationship with Mike and helping her to figure out herself. But. Really irresponsible when it was about using El's powers. Recently, she said Max and El were her favorite duo, besides Will and Mike.

Why do you write Steddie?

a) Why does anyone latch onto any pairing? Something about Steve and Eddie grabbed my attention like no other ship has in years. I’ve always liked Stranger Things, but I never shipped anything from it until season 4 and until I saw the on-screen dynamic of Steve and Eddie. It felt so fun, and I just constantly saw Steddie art popping up on my dash, so I was looking more and more at it until I just said OKAY, I’M GOING ALL IN and started writing private fan fictions for just one of my friends who encouraged me to post them. b)Why do I still write Steddie? Probably because of my pals Eddy and Jess who talk to me about the lads day in and day out <3

What’s your favorite trope to READ?

I’m really bad at reading fan fics, to be honest, and I don’t actually enjoy reading tropes. The closest thing to a trope I like to read is probably just “they’re in love” or “they will fall in love.” I like good stories, regardless of the setting or the trope.

What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?

Does angst count? I pretty much just write angst! I love drama, angst, and exploring miscommunication! Supernatural elements are also super fun, and of course, I love horror, but those things feel more like genre rather than tropes. But I am also a sucker for a happy ending, so you can sort of expect that from me.

What’s your favorite Steddie fic?

My fav fic is “No Regrets” by @/strangersteddierthings I loved it so much that I made a graphic for it, and Jess uses it as a banner for the fic now!

Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?

I try to avoid tropes in my writing, (unless you count drama and angst, lol), so I’m not really sure how to answer this. I’ve never written a classic “there is only one bed” or “coffee shop au” or ANYTHING like that, so maybe I should try and do an actual, classic trope. I don’t think I’ve ever, EVER written a REAL trope before, tbh. I’m actually really curious what people would suggest for me to write, if anyone has a suggestion, I’m all ears!

What is your writing process like?

If I’m looking for a story idea, I usually play the “3-word game” to generate an idea. It works like this: I ask someone to give me 1 word that is a Person (priest, character from a show, sister, etc), a Place (NYC, a house, tombstone, etc), and an Object (pen, houseplant, knife, etc) and then I try and connect those 3 things. That usually helps me generate an idea and develop an interesting story. My other method is… I have wild dreams and wake up with a fully-formed scene in my brain, and I deconstruct that scene in order to find out how I can create a story to get to that point. I also write super fast, so I try and get the idea down on paper asap, or I’ll lose interest and never write it. If I’m writing for a Big Bang or something, I have usually finished writing that fic like… months before I need to post it.

Do you have any writing quirks?

A say “though” a lot, start sentences with “so,” and say “a bit” or “a little bit” in my writing a lot. An example would be “He wasn’t alive though, he didn’t ‘have a life’ to speak of, so this was what exactly?”

Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?

As soon as I finish!!!! I have a hard time holding back….

Which fic are you most proud of?

That I have posted? Probably “The Last Strange Thing.” It is my longest one. But I have one that I will be posting soon that I am very proud of that I have been working on for a while called “Senior Year” which I’ve been writing on and off since November 2022. I finally buckled down and finished writing it for the Steddie Big Bang and I’ll be posting it this year!

How did you get the idea for The Last Strange Thing?

“The Last Strange Thing” was written for a Reverse Big Bang in collaboration with @/llamalpaca. They created an amazing art piece of Steve and Robin in apocalypse gear, and it got the wheels turning in my brain about an apocalypse AU which reminded me of a conversation I had with a pal about “The Last of Us.” It inspired a whole tale in my brain about Steve and all of the “Stranger Things” party existing in a “The Last of Us” world, so I mashed them together and started writing a story.

When writing The Last Strange Thing, what was something you didn’t expect?

I plan out my stories pretty thoroughly, but something I feel is a very “weak point” in my writing is “action scenes,” so I really surprised myself by even ATTEMPTING to tackle something like “The Last Strange Thing,” which has so much action in it. At first, I sort of assumed I would avoid action as much as possible and make the story about the journey, but as I plotted things out, I just kept making plot points that involved more and more action so when I sat down to write it… I was really surprised that everything flowed together so well and the action felt really natural. Lots of people even complimented my action writing, which felt amazing, cause I’ve always felt it was a weakness!

What inspired It's Snowing In Hawkins?

“It’s Snowing In Hawkins” was a request for a mini-Steddie Winter Exchange where a secret exchanger submitted three requests/tropes/inspirations, and you got to choose from them. One of them involved a snowman-building contest, and Eddie “schooling the younger members of the party.” Another part of the request was that they DID NOT WANT ANY ANGST, so that was a big challenge for me! So it was all fluff, and I thought giving Eddie a slightly ADHD-sideways assignment from “snowman” felt fitting for him. Thus, snow-dome and Steve and Eddie getting some private time in the snow together. That, and at that point, I had never written “virgin Eddie” before, so I thought it would be super cute to explore.

What was your favorite part to write from House to ourselves?

Oh geez, this one is almost PWP, but I think probably just the adult-domestic side of it. Just two dads… getting to be dads. Their young kids are away for the weekend, and they get to take a nap together? There is something so… luxurious about that as an adult (I don’t have kids, but working full-time doesn’t give you enough time for naps either) that feels so nice and REAL about that, haha.

How do/did you feel writing Modern Problems, Modern Solutions?

I really wanted to channel shitty-teen energy. This was the most TEENAGE ANGST AND TEEN DRAMA story I’ve written. Everyone in the story is properly a teen in this, and I dug deep to remember what it felt like to be a teenager again. So I guess what I was feeling was… teen spirit.

What was the most difficult part of writing Long Road Ahead?

This is a really emotional fic, actually. Probably the hardest chapters to write were chapters 2 and 3 where we see the intense yearning between Eddie and Steve and how both of them truly believe that nothing would work between them—Eddie because he thinks Steve doesn’t like him, and with Steve, it is because he is terrified about being queer. I think the toughest thing about writing this was challenging Steve’s intense internal homophobia. That’s something that isn’t explored a lot in fic, and it does not feel good, so I get it, but I think it’s realistic for the 80s. Steve being really scared about his own feelings would be something a lot of boys would struggle with in that era, especially as a handsome, sporty guy who really thinks he is straight up until that point where he falls HARD for his guy friends uncontrollably. It’s difficult to write characters who have polar opposite opinions compared to yourself, but I find it really interesting, and it makes it really fun to write them GROWING OUT of that mindset.

Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?

I don’t think I can pick a line because it has been too long since I have written any of those fics, but scene-wise, I think one of my favourite scenes is from one of my stories called “Tooth and Nail” where EDDIE is the one struggle with the idea of being queer and Steve is the one who has “come out” first. Anyway, Eddie is sitting on one side of a door, and he has no idea if Steve is listening to him or not, but he is confessing all of his feeling of “I messed up, and I don’t know how I feel, but I know I messed up and I’m sorry.” Also later, he cries about it to Steve and gets so embarrassed he pulls his shirt over his head to hide the fact that he is crying, and I still think that is adorable. I really like both of those scenes.

Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?

a) If you haven’t read “Tooth and Nail” you should, it’s older but up on my Tumblr. b) New project wise though!!!! I HAVE THREE NEW ONES! c) “Batter Up” just dropped on June 16th and is a 14,000 word fluff fic for the Steddie Summer Exchange. It’s about Baseball!Player Steve and Rockstar!Eddie meeting and falling in love. d) “Momento Mori” is my Wayne & Steve (with Steddie of course) fic for the Stranger Things Big Bang that will be posting in July, so keep an eye on my Tumblr and/or my Ao3. My artist @/the-aphelion-archives has some really cool art being cooked up, so stay tuned for that! e) And last but not least, my Steddie piece “Senior Year” will be posted for the Steddie Big Bang at the end of this summer/early fall during the bang with art made by @/metalfreaks86! This is my 50k fic that spans from just after Season 2 to after Season 4, and involves a lot of heartbreak, and first loves. Keep an eye on my Tumblr and Ao3 for that one too because we do not yet have a release date.

Outside of these questions, Is there anything YOU would like to add?

Thank you to whoever nominated me! I often feel like my fics aren’t for everyone because I tend to write for a more serious audience and tackle tougher topics and that just isn’t an overly popular medium in fan fiction––which is fine! Because fan fiction is escapism and I know people use it to feel good, and sometimes you don’t want to read sad stuff. So, I really appreciate people who take the time to read my sad stuff (that ends happily every time, cause I also like happy things haha), and enjoy my hard work. Genuinely, every time I feel like throwing in the towel because I think I’m writing into the void, some little kudo-kween pops up and reminds me that my writing is appreciated.
