I'm breaking my hiatus to present y'all with a marker drawing I did while at Maple's house (with her markers, of course XD)

We've finally gotten some snow here (though as I'm typing this most of it has melted) so I wanted to do a cute scene between her SPM OC Caelum and Bowser Jr, making a good ol' snow-Bowser. The colors aren't exactly what I wanted, and some areas are colored a little sloppily, but overall I'm pretty happy with it! It's my first time working with traditional art in a good while, and with a medium I'm semi-unfamiliar with to boot (my only other experience with markers was Crayola XD)

Maybe eventually I'll ramble more about these two, along with a lot more Mario related art when my hibernation is completely over with. I fell down the warp pipe and the hyperfixation is too strong for me to haul myself back out XD

she’s an artist. she’s got DID and it’s not villainized. her armor is a bunch of tiny freaks in a trench coat. she’s good friends with one sword and traumatized another as a child but they are rebuilding that relationship. she infiltrated the mafia. her husband supports trans rights and I think she does too but this hasn’t been confirmed and probably won’t be for at least 3-5 years in our timeline. probably more. she needs therapy but was probably one of the reasons it was invented. she’s also ginger. I’m not saying who it is but you know who it is.

I just realized the most tragic thing - that I cannot gush about 31st October being Dziady / Forefathers' Eve because it's a Polish thing and none of my mutuals know what it is and no really good translation of the dramatic works exists to have them read it :(((

It's like a traditional Polish Halloween and nowadays it's mainly known from Adam Mickiewicz's (he's to Poland what Shakespeare is to England) 4-part drama centered around it. It follows a tortured poet (my blorbo, I love him) during the time Poland was partitioned and erased from the maps, its people oppressed but always fighting back. It is one of the most important and culturally significant Polish works ever created. And it's got, like so many themes, so many themes you guys. It's one of my favorite works ever one of my all-time dreams is to play Konrad, a protag from part 3.

also its quite funny how easy it is to tell that Glisten is the favourite child... liek i looked at a good few npcs and he is the only twisted to have dialogue and he has the most lore and he has the most letters in his room and his trivia section was like 3x the size of any others lmao

Also YESSSS yesyesyes the glass shattering effect is so fun. When I tell you bro is TERRIFYING when he goes berserk though. He gains a MASSIVE speed boost and starts sprinting at mach speed towards whoever is in his line of sight 😭 Also he needs to be babysat when he's not berserk so I almost always volunteer ✨️✨️ I love that mechanic sm though, just the concept of needing to follow around a character who is utterly TERRIFIED of being left alone and is likely one of the VERY FEW Twisteds who still has their sanity among the practical ZOMBIES the others have become?? As far as I know Arthur and Delilah are the creators of the show in-universe! I don't know MUCH about them given that there isn't much ON them yet (I hope there's more soon aghhh) but from what I can gather, I think Delilah is maybe the start of something bad that happened, maybe how the ichor operation got started in the first place, and Arthur is the skeptic of them that wants to know what she's up to. Like. 'You said he has friends. I'll need them' from Delilah sounds so suspicious??? And Arthur writing that '[Delilah] reassured me that what happened wasn't [Delilah's] fault'?? DELILAH GURLIEPOP WHAT ARE YOU ***UP*** TO...... Also I myself don't know MUCH about the ichor operation in general yet, only that Mister Dandicus (Dandy, lol) is / most likely is running the show behind it and is responsible for what happened to the Twisteds (including probably his closest friend of all the Toons....... 😬😬😬 he gets real awkward when you buy Astro from the shop and dialogue says they don't talk as much as they used to so methinks he at least feels remorse for what he's done and doesn't talk to Astro much because of it......). Dandy is very Flowey and Chara-core, morally grey characters my absolute BELOVEDS 🫶🫶🫶

With comic book fans it’s always “current [character] is so out of character because in [specific comic run from 30 years ago] he acted like this.”

Fellas, the best part of comics is that the characters constantly evolve, and probably have been changed over and over again for longer than you’ve been alive. Each writer and artist reimagines the character in their own way, in a new way that will speak to different people in a different time. I shamelessly love New 52 Red Hood & Arsenal, and don’t really like Three Jokers Jason Todd or Young Justice Arsenal. And that’s okay. Maybe you hate New 52 Jason and love Rebirth Jason. And that’s okay!!

Even though it’s irritating, don’t hate on writers and artists for creating your character in a way that you don’t find “accurate.” In comics, after all this time, I don’t think there is an “accurate” way to portray a character. They’re vessels to tell a story, and are meant to change.

It’s okay if you don’t like a certain portrayal of your favorite comic character, because you probably already have media out there to consume that does portray them in a way that speaks to you, and the character will probably continue to grow and change forever. And that’s really cool.

Chibi Wataru but make him ✨@fadefromthelight’s✨ version

I’ve been wanting to challenge myself and draw other characters (pls don’t be jealous Takeshi lol)…but it’s also hard for me to draw characters that I’m not very passionate about. But there’s a character that’s become very special to me and that’s Wataru. And we all know who loves Wataru…and Nobuhiko, he deserves recognition too! I told Fade I wanted to draw Wataru, but I didn’t tell her I was going to draw her version. Of course that didn’t stay a surprise for long, I’m really bad at them 💀 But I love Fade’s version of Wataru so much and how she draws him with piercings and fluffy hair. She also gives him amazing outfits and puts so much personalization into her drawings which is very inspiring to me as I always draw from canon. When I think of Wataru, I automatically think of her version of him. I really wanted to pay homage to her style with this chibi!

This was such a fun piece to draw and it means so much to me as well. Fade was actually my first follower in the Initial D community and we ended up becoming friends. All because she made a post comparing Sam from Stardew Valley to Keisuke because they have similar hairstyles LOL. And we’ve probably talked every day since then 🥹 Whether we are sharing our works in progress, thinking up headcanons for our boys, or talking about what foods we love from Trader Joe’s…I’m just so thankful to call her my friend.

I hope they give Adrian the messiest, most traumatic backstory possible so that he can have a moment where Peacemaker learns his backstory and realizes they aren't so different and in another time, another world, they could both have been normal people with normal lives but despite walking out of hell itself and separately navigating what comes next, they still found each other and found a purpose and a place in each other's arms and even though they aren't perfect or even good people, they're enough.

Also, we need something to retroactively justify how much Adrian's been poor little Meow Meow'd by the fandom.

Think about how there's a chance Soap hadn't settled on a name yet before he met Price.

He joined the army pretty young—hell, this makes the part where he lied in his forms make even more sense—and every time he'd just try a different name, nothing really stuck out to him yet. So when he first enlists he just goes by MacTavish anyway and figures he'll make something up on the spot if anyone ever asks and tries not to think about it too much.

It doesn't take long of course for "Soap" to become a thing and whilst it's a stupid name, secretly he's a little relieved. And then he meets Price and his world is kind of flipped upside down because Price is kind and supportive and will listen. And Price does everything in his power to help him and protect him and well... It doesn't seem too difficult to settle on what name he wants anymore.

So he makes up his mind and gathers his courage and finally goes to tell him that he wants to change his files. Price of course asks to what and it takes him a moment to find the words but at the end he just blurts out "John, sir." Price doesn't give a sign of acknowledgement and neither of them comment on it at that moment.

Price hasn't said it to anyone but it did stick out to him as a possibility and he'd die before he admitted it but he did cry that night.
