So I'm reading academic articles about werewolves for Reasons, and I've come across this one study describing a possible link between the delusion of lycanthropy with severe depressive disorder, which is very interesting and all, but guys-

They identified eight cases of lycanthropy within a certain area over a twenty year period for the purpose of the study. Seven of eight reported to have changed into dogs (i.e. traditional lycanthropic delusion). And that last one, you might ask?

Well, you see, number eight reported transforming into a cow.

Now as you might imagine, this is quite a rare report. In fact, aside from the biblical account of king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, there is only one other known report of such a case also from Babylon circa AD 1000~ in which Avicenna describes one of his patients "who claimed he was a cow and bellowed like one."

Avicenna apparently told his patient that a butcher was on the way to slaughter him and tied him up. Then he left, returned dressed as a butcher, told the guy he was too lean to be butchered and he had to put on some weight. He untied the guy who then began to happily eat, regained his strength, and was reportedly cured of his delusion.

I love choosing to base character names off lesser known languages and words and names. I get to learn such interesting things!

Looking up Native American Tribes of Texas and found some interesting language uses from the Tonkawa tribe.

The english character usage is so interesting! They use collins to covey vowel pronunciation!

A:x (Water) = with " a: " sounding like the a in father and the " x " being pronounced like the j in jalapeño.

They also use glottalized apostrophes like in Hawaiian (ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi).

From studying revolutionary history I've learned two things: when the killing starts militant leftists die first and moderate leftists die second.

Typically, some militants survive and go on to form the nucleus of guerilla groups. But, and I cannot stress this enough, the moderates (see: the people who did nothing at all) get almost entirely wiped out.

I've also learned that fascists desire a certain level of armed resistance in order to justify killing people who disagree with them. If the militant left-wing does not provide this resistance, then the fascists will manufacture it themselves.

here’s the thing. i’ve gotten in my own head. i feel like my fic ideas are too ambitious/bold for my skill level, specifically looking at writing sexy things. like i feel like if it’s gonna be weird conceptually it’s gotta be solid structurally, you know? but the little bit of smut i wrote like three(?) years ago makes me cringe (because i wrote it, and also i know it’s not totally amazing objectively, even though i published those short blurbs with the intent of revisiting/rewriting/expanding upon them at a later date) (also i’ll be so real, there’s not much irl inspo i can draw upon, if that wasn’t blatantly obvious) and i’m down to be self-indulgent and experimental but i also want to be proud of what i’ve written and hnnnnnnnnnngggggggg

Fun fact: quetzals aren’t a single bird, they’re a family consisting of 6-7 species! The one in the picture is a resplendent quetzal (I think)

Doubly fun fact: if you stand in the courtyard at Kukulkan Temple in Chichen Itza and clap, your clap will echo back as a quetzal call.
