Tails: A long time ago, I once had friends and the only family I had. Me, bokkun, Magillanica and Ivo.

Sonic: Syaoran, you are the incarnation of King Arthur. As for me, I am the incarnation of King Gilgamesh. That's why I am the only one who can use chaos emeralds to turn into super form.

Tails: I've changed a lot since I started hanging with Sonic, but I can't depend on him forever. I know I can do this by myself! I need to protect him! Okay, Metarex! Bring it on!

Punch: You knew something that I don't know.

Danny: What if we were to turn into weird monsters who, like us, are not the next because of despair and malevolence? I was very afraid. I could not do it If I can't control my despair. Is there anyhing we can do? Jazz is going to become a witch..

Sonic: Both me and Punch are scared too. Even if it was scary, painful, or too much to bear, we can all talk and cry together. We should never exist or become monsters that we don't want to, but as long as we were together, I wouldn't have any regrets!

Gilgamesh is the top hardest character to write, Punch is the second hard character to write and Sonic is the third hard character to write. In the first encounter(Tsofph story), everyone gave Sonic the title as an innocent child. Sonic doesn't know what hurt is, what love is and what the outside world how much cruel world is. Grimoirh said that Sonic himself was not the hedgehog or Allen, he hie something that keep him safe from the outside world, and that's why Syaoran's group couldn't find Sonic world dimension. Sonic world's dimension itself had sealed off away until oneday when Sonic fighter Dr Eggman. Sonic managed to trick the robot into shooting the machine the Chaos Emeralds had been powering. The machine malfunctions and caused Chaos Control, warping everyone to another world, Earth(Chris' world). So basically, Sonic broke the seal with the power of Chaos Emeralds by himself. Sonic is the fastest creature with the greatest powerful unknown inside him, he has a great hatred of crookedness and cannot bear to witness troubled people. He hates to be bored, and restrained always goes on carefree adventures, prefers to be alone, he likes to relax often and both love and hate himself. He doesn't like to be famous but wants everyone to acknowledge that he is the best and coolest. Sonic love himself, everyone and the world or many worlds. Sonic believes that everyone has a good heart (Even Dr Eggman) and can change their heart or save their saddest heart. Sonic is arrogant, cares for others, very sensitive heart, and approval others. His favourite food is still Chili Dogs. Sonic had the ability to see slow motion when he runs, can understand different languages even nature but can't read different languages, has healing magic, can see some destiny lines around him(Like Punch), has the ability to see or hear the invisible(Like Sakura and Chester)and the power of good luck. Sonic is afraid of deep water or deep ocean, and if it takes too much longer, Sonic will crazy and run around. But if want Sonic to feel safe from deep water, there need some friends that Sonic trust the most about his safety. Sonic is an orphan and before found and took care of by Uncle Chuck and Queen Aleena. Nature was the one taking care of him even feeding him(Trees, wind and water). Sonic still believe he had a family because he had a memory relationship with his brother.

Gilgamesh: I was chosen by nature to become the next leader, and even though I lost my family even though they are not my family in blood, nature around the earth still takes care of me. That's why I understand how much those trees meant to you, Enkidu.

Enkidu: So that's why you create the garden of Babylon.

Sonic believes in himself and often didn't listen to his friends. But thankfully Sonic had the ability to read people's hearts and feeling(Even Allen and nature). When Sonic and Velvet have different arrangements, Sonic feels terrible for hurting Velvet's feelings because Sonic doesn't understand Velvet why he can't run or tells him he doesn't know how much dangerous is and why he can't fight some monsters. Similar to this scene in Sonic Prime.

Sonic looked so sad in this scene, you can really tell he feels horrible about hurting Tails's feelings. But he can't understand why Tails is upset. (He misunderstood the word "trap" that Tails warn him about it.)

Tails: Even though there were so many times that Sonic didn't listen to me, he was still the only best friend that can understand me.

Until Tsofph season 6, by little, Sonic start to be willing to be passive and obedient to his friends. Because his legs were injured. Before meeting Leia(Tales of xillia) and Subaru( Tokyo Babylon ), Syaoran mention that Sonic missed Tails a lot and couldn't sleep well. Sonic was afraid that without him, Tails would be hurt, but thankfully Syaoran showed Sonic that Tails will be alright on his own because Sonic could see Tails in Syaoran. They shared something similar, the soul is the one. We all know that Tails is Sonic’s biggest fan by far. But a lot of people don’t know that Sonic is Tails' number one fan. That's how Sonic thinks about Syaoran. For a long journey, Sonic trust Syaoran and they can understand each other very well just like the relationship between Sonic and Tails.

Sonic: Tails did say to me once that I am their hope. Even you, Syaoran, you also said the same thing that my little bro said. Do you know? I'm kinda happy. When we first travelled together, you don't know how much happy I am.Thank you so much for always cheering me up. You kinda much like Tails but not the same.

Velvet: How you and Sonic met? Tails: After I lost my family and I only had the thing I made together with my family. Everyone around me said that thing is a tool weapon and they destroyed it. I cry the way I walk but along the way, I met Sonic running up. I was like"Who he is? Why he is so cool?! I should follow him!"

Velvet: Not because you were bullied by other animals because of your twin tails?

Tails: No, in our dimension they are kind and nice. We don't understand what bullying is until Dr Eggman conquered the world.

Velvet: Wow, that was a nice peaceful world you had until that mad scientist ruined everything.

Tails: Sonic then runs off while I eagerly follow him. He comes across a beach and sees a red biplane parked on the sand. I examine the plane and start to tinker with it, making it faster and even repainting it blue. Sonic then appears.

Sonic: What are you doing?

Tails: Ah! I’m sorry! I was remodeling it would be faster. And I changed the color. Umm....

Sonic: Blue is pretty good too.

Tails:...!! It’s the color of your image.

Sonic: Thanks. By the way, you’ve been following me since this morning. Do you want something from me?

Tails:......Everyone bullies me because I’m only good at mechanics...but I saw you running and wanted to be cool, just like you! I want to be brave someday to help the people I dear the most! Do you think that's a possible dream?

Tails: Miles Power. But everyone calls me “Tails”.

Sonic love to be alone but he wants someone to stay by his side. There was some human inside his heart even though Sonic is not human. He was able to learn on his own by playing the guitar, repairing shoes, utensils, cooking and reading, although he was not a genius like Tails. He has a talent for making friends even though he's not very social. He is always in a good mood and smiles all the time like a child. That's why he called himself an innocent child in season 6.

In season 8 will be much more different now so I'm going to end this analysis this month. See “Analyze the characters” next time! Thank you very much!

You were sealed by Enkidu and he was sealed by King Gilgamesh, but what about Punch? Even though Punch might not remember him, her subconscious could have taken note of him, and later brought her image out in a dream.

Danny: Homura...why are you know about Enkidu?

Homura: I just pictured what I imagined, that's all.

Danny: We met before in previous life, right?

Danny: So the place that I know is very important must be connected to Homura. Maybe Homura can help me. A place I've never been to but important for even Sam.

Syaoran: I also had a problem with that too. But as I know that's men's problem. Women are fickle creatures at best. They lie as easily as they breathe, and men can never see through their deceptions.

Chester: Yeah, yeah! I TOTALLY agree. 

Sonic: Sounds like both of you have been through some tough times.

Subaru: The wounds women leave on a man's heart take longer to heal than a cut delivered by a sword.

Sonic: R....really?!

Velvet: I was surprised to see you be able to be a big brother. When I took care of Laphicet at first it was very hard to understand him.

Syaoran: Is every species like you like to read too? Bienfu does a lot of reading, too.

Sonic: Really? I don’t know that.

Sakura: It’s true. But I’m not sure what he’s been reading, though.

Bienfu: Did someone call for me?

Is it just me or does every guy in the sonic franchise have a soft spot for Amy? Of course we all know sonic does. But, tails, knuckles, shadow, and silver seem too also. For example shadow and silver would give into her requests in shadow the hedgehog and sonic 06. Or knuckles would be protective of her in sonic x, and of course her and tail have a good friendship bond. She’s like the really sweet and cute anime girl that can make even the most stoic guys soft.

Hmm, can’t remember Knuckles being ‘protective’ of her-

(But everyone would tell a girl character in a Shonen to ‘be careful’, ‘stay out of trouble’, ‘This isn’t a place for a little girl’ sort of thing anyway. So it could just be the genre..? But yeah, he’s a good guy so I see what you mean ^^; )

and her and Tails are decent enough friends, but it’s also out of necessity sometimes that any of these characters actually interact.

You have to remember that Sonic is kinda the ‘glue’ of their gang. It’s like having that super close friend and then their friends become your friends? Lol But yes, they are a super-powerful force together! They don’t always just randomly ‘hang out’ together, and were kinda stuck at Chris’s place so what ELSE can they do to bide their time? But they get along, and they do consider everyone their close friends!

It’s canonically stated that Amy is ‘Pretty’ and in Shadow’s description of her, he loosely states that he can’t help but want to help her. Silver also is another canon statement where he was ‘roped along’ into Amy’s antics but ended up just unable to refuse her.

She’s very persuasive XD they say she “cheerfully embarrasses men” on her Japanese Sonic channel bio and I 100% believe that’s the embodiment of Amy lolol She just gets people to really care about her, due to how passionate, innocent, and sincere she is about caring about others. It’s hard to feel like, “She can defend herself” when she so sweetly grabs your hand and loops you into dramatic chaos lolol

She’s also a magnetic for trouble... lol She runs headfirst into Sonic’s adventures, so you can see why!

She’s a very preppy, pretty, and persuasively bossy girl. She’s full of energy and it radiates a sense that everyone wants to keep her safe. It’s like... protecting that little bit of light you found, that wholesomeness of caring and having that optimistic energy that A LOT of these poor lost souls are missing, but desperately wish they had... But that’s not all Amy brings, and I’ll get to that later!

This was Shadow at one point (When it came to Rouge, who he did end up saving), then-

To shed a tear due to Amy’s words, the same spirit of promise that Maria once had, and in dying memory of her, he immortalized her desire for that promising world of people’s dreams by returning Amy that same promise--renewing and keeping it as his new ‘purpose’. Other than a weapon, and in Shadow The Hedgehog, she is also associated with a mission with ‘Love’ as it’s title. Along with his warning: “If you want to stay out of trouble, stay away from that doctor.” Which also proves the point of everyone feeling like ‘I have to keep her safe’ which is just one of the things that Amy inspires in people. They just... instantly care about her.

Amy also forces Silver to question his resolves, realizing--just like Shadow--that his way of taking lives so thoughtlessly is not the answer.

To -

Amy is constantly inspiring people to be better.

He even laughs at himself for ‘following this girl around’ and helping her search for ‘her missing person’ instead of doing his own task. SHE ran into HIM, and yet, he felt obligated to help her search on her own task.

She makes a cute pose and says something like, “I’m sorry, Silver. When I’m done, we’ll find who you’re looking for!” it leaves him embarrassed and scratching his head, turning away from her in his clear attraction to this cutie! This scene is meant to be funny, as Amy often inspires comedy in the Sonic series, but also showcases Silver’s awkwardness in social interactions. (How Naïve he can be in them lol)

It’s this very thing that makes him look around and reflect, realizing how gorgeous this whole world is without the flames of destruction from his world. Amy inspired it. She created a moment where Silver wasn’t so gung ho and focused on his main task (which was manipulated through Mephiles’s evil intent, by the way) that he failed to notice anything else around him.

Amy doesn’t notice this, lost in the meaning of his words, which makes him once again embarrassed. Notice how he looks directly at her when he says “And Everyone is Happy”? He’s referring to her!

When she doesn’t get it, he just can’t bring himself to explain further.

He shows the same excitement as her.

So at first, he turns away--abashed--unable to tell her the horribly depressing future he’s from. Instead, he opts to continue to help her, showing his desire to remain in that presence of joy. HER presence of happiness... HE WAS HAPPY WITH HER TOO (sobbing) HE DIDN’T WANT THAT FEELING OR PEACE TO END.

And even in this scene, it was meant to highlight Amy’s innocence and natural beauty, he was complimenting the green and natural wonder of the world.. then looked at her as the sun was directly behind her. He looks away, embarrassed, but Amy is canonically ‘pretty’ lol

Amy’s endlessly compassionate to the ‘Morally Grey’ or ‘Led Astray’ characters and ends up being their ‘Guiding Light’ towards becoming heroic characters themselves.

Addresses him first, as a soul, which in his core--he is a living being. However, she questions this by saying that she pities Eggman didn’t give him feelings.

When Amy asks Gamma why he doesn’t know why he wants what he does, she inspires humanity. The difference that makes Amy a hero unlike the rest of the casts is she will always choose the option to help the lost soul other than combat them. She will actively choose connecting hearts over violence to save many lives, even though she can fight. She would convince someone to change their ways rather than beat them into her ideals. She will go after the misguided and bring them towards redemption.

“Don’t you know how bad I feel?” She pleads humanity. She begs emotional mercy, for the purpose of understanding and linking hearts together in compassion.

Amy will UNSELFISHLY fight for the outcasts, the broken-hearted, and the abused. That’s how she fights, she wields her heart, and it has never failed her, not once.

So, overall, yes! She makes stoic guys weak and melt at her endearing charms XD Even robots remember their humanity in her!

ngl i grew up on sonic x but looking back i have a lot of issues with how they portrayed certain things (like that amy episode and others like it >:I) but specifically, i didnt like how they handled shadow a lot of the time? swapping out amy for chris aside, why the hell did they have shadow literally start beating up chris in that scene?? i also have issues with the later season where he tried to kill cosmo and refused to explain to anyone why. sonic x was REALLY pushing for the 'edgy' label with him but in all the worst ways

It’s kind of terrible, isn’t it? One of my favorite things about Shadow is that he’s a protector of the young and innocent. As much as I want to joke about him just having a visceral reaction to having Chris there rather than Amy, it’s actually really upsetting, even if you don’t like Chris. Shadow’s supposed to be a hero, and yet he’s beating up a 12-year-old. Would he have done that to Amy, too? And that segment was based on SA2, so the writers don’t even have the excuse of basing Shadow on his edgy current self.

I love the episode with Tails protecting Cosmo, but that’s only because I focus 100% on Tails’ adorable heroism. Once you get past that, the synopsis of that episode is “Shadow the hedgehog, hero to the world, beats up everyone in his path--including an 8-year-old boy--so he can try and murder a child.” There will never be a good reason to depict Shadow hurting and trying to kill children.

What would sonic do with a Death Note?

He’s got good intentions but we know how the death note makes people

Would sonic be able to kill anyone aside from eggman since barely anyone else is human?

Are we setting this on earth or in sonic’s world? I’m rooting for earth and the shinigami had no clue what they were getting into, how were they supposed to know about the little alien hedgehogs. Sonic X world probably since that’s something we’re familiar with.

OOH Chris being the closest to figuring out the identity of Kira because he’s so SMART or something and then Sonic has to kill him?

And Sonic has told Tails about the death note and all because they’re good friends but since Tails looks up to sonic so much and loves him so much he goes along with it, but he’s having a moral dilemma that really increases once Chris dies

Would sonic be able to kill robots? I have two thoughts:

The death note can kill the anthropomorphic animals and humans but not robots

The death note can kill the anthropomorphic animals and humans as well as the sentient robots like omega

If Shadow were still in his revenge against humanity thing he would trade for the eyes because he’d do anything to get revenge on humanity for Maria’s death

But once he’s in the protect humanity for maria phase he’d be so so against use of the death note, setting him up as a good replacement for L mayhaps?

We could have the sonic team all looking to catch kira but kira is actually sonic, like how it is in season two of death note

Eggman is after kira too but for the purpose of obtaining his power

I want knuckles to be important because I like him - master emerald? But death note hmm

Ryuk is bored as hell, this has already been established whoops whoops there goes the death note down into the human world goodbye

But he accidentally drops it into a pretty rural area so no one is there to pick it up

Except SONIC on one of his funky little runs he’s running and he ZOOMS right past the book but then skrrts right back to it and “huh? Death Note? Hmmm” in his sonic voice and then he reads the rules in his sonic voice

And of course he immediately believes it’s real because he’s sonic and he’s always right and also he’s a magical alien hedgehog why wouldn’t he believe it

He starts thinking about it, its possibilities

This would be a great tool to use to save the world from eggman… but do I really want to kill him? Sure he’s a bad guy, but does he really deserve to die?

AND THEN eggman’s next evil scheme unfolds and him and sonic are in one of their little battle confrontations and eggman is giving his evil speech where he’s all cocky and confident and sonic is just like

Are you sure you wanna do that eggman? You know I could defeat you in a second!

And everyone thinks it’s just Sonic’s classic cockiness but little do they know

And then battle commences and eggman’s in one of those robots he walks around in and they’re going blam blam blam like they do

But oh jeez eggman’s really upped his game these robots are hella, lots of civilians are being hurt

Sonic internal monologue time

I could so easily stop the destruction now! So many people are getting hurt and I could end it in a second … alright. This is the right thing to do.

So sonic zooms away but he’s so fast no one knows where he’s gone uh oh sonic where are you!! - tails

And then eggman’s all “look like your hero has fled from the battle-” and then his robot explodes and boom goodbye dr eggman

ALTERNATE IF YOU WANT TO INCLUDE EGGMAN LATER IN THE PLOT

Eggman’s off to the side but infinite is fightin sonic and crew, infinite says that last line but gets cut off as his little power source thing in his chest explodes that’s called a robot heart attack i guess.

But probably not because ew sonic forces

So then everyone is like,,, oh my god he’s dead

And Sonic’s all like “oh man, how did this happen, man maybe I shouldn’t have beat up his robot so much I never intended for this to happen”

And everyone is a little somber because yeah eggman was a bad guy but they were friends in a way, they had fond memories.

This starts sonic’s spiral down the rabbit hole of immorality.

He maybe has a little moral dilemma

Oh my god I killed him… it’s just like killing one of his robots right? I mean… some of them were sentient too… but he’s human, but so were all the civilians he was killing… it was for the greater good, he’ll never be able to hurt anyone ever again.

...There are other people out there causing harm to the world. It’s delusional to think that the world will be peaceful now with eggman gone. He was just one contender in the ring, a formidable contender for sure, but there are others left. Others who will hurt others and make this world rotten. I could save the world with this! I’ll make it a better world for people with good hearts!

So Ryuk’s like alright it’s been a couple days I should probably go down there and check on my notebook.

and Ryuk’s like okay there it is to Japan we go and he shows up to where Sonic is laying on the roof of Chris’s house

And Ryuk lands on the roof and Sonic opens his eyes and is like Woah! You’re a funny looking guy!

And Ryuk is like what. the hell are you. “Likewise. I’m not sure what I’m looking at right now.”

He stands up to do his introduction. I’m Sonic. What’s your name?

I am the Shinigami Ryuk. I believe you are the one in possession of my notebook, Sonic.

Notebook? Now I don’t know anything about a notebook.

There’s no reason to lie to me, nobody can see or hear me but you. Even if I wanted to tell others of what you’ve done, there’s no way I possibly could. Unless, of course, others have touched the book.

(Sonic is constantly pulling chaos emeralds out of his spikes it doesn’t make sense but I’m sticking with that I’m just saying he can store stuff in there somehow)

Tails - I’m not sure about it. It sure does make our job easier but I don’t know if it’s right, or if we can trust Kira to stick to only killing criminals.

Amy - Well I’m glad for it! The less bad guys there are to stop, the more time I get to spend with Sonic.

Sonic’s thinking - Eugh, maybe I should get rid of that Death Note.

THen Tails says whatever he says to indicate to Sonic that he needs him on his side or whatever “I just think it’s strange that..” or something

Tails - I was giving some thought to this idea: what if Kira’s first kill was Dr. Eggman? I thought it was strange his robot just exploded like that, especially since we hadn’t even done that much damage to him yet. His voice gets quiet, to himself and more thoughtful. How strange would it be if Kira’s first murder was during our battle…

Sonic’s internal monologue - So he picked up on that, huh. Tails sure is smart. He’s not someone I want as my enemy

Amy - She turns to sonic. All I know is no Eggman means no excuse not to spend time with me.

Sonic - Tails can you show me the progress you’ve made on the X Tornado?

Tails - Oh! Sure!

They head out, leaving a dejected Amy behind them.

Tails is smart. Sonic knows this. He knows if he wants tails on his side, he needs to tell him before he finds out on his own.

So like after a moment where tails shows signs of suspicion (he’s not like oh my god is Sonic Kira??? He’s just like huh that’s strange…), Sonic has a little internal monologue because mm mm we love internal monologues, a side effect of the death note

So he picked up on that, huh. Tails sure is smart. He’s not someone I want as my enemy. “Tails can you show me the progress you’ve made on the X Tornado?” “Oh! Sure!” and then they’re in Tails’s workshop , looking at the Tornado...

Tails, would you stick by me through anything?

Of course! We’re best friends!

Sonic laughs. That’s right buddy! We are best friends! I really appreciate how loyal a friend you are, no matter what.

Of course I’m loyal to you Sonic! You’ve been nothing but kind to me, and you never fail to impress me.

Aw, thanks Tails… Can I show you something cool?

Tails’s eyes light up and he laughs. You better!

He pulls out the death note and holds it close to his chest. A book? Sonic slowly lays it down on the workbench. Death Note? What is this?

Tails reaches out to touch it but Sonic picks it up real fast

Woah there! Don’t go touching things you don’t know what they are!

Well what is it? You don’t seem the type for journaling.

Sonic opens the book to the first page he wrote on, where Ivo Robotnik and his cause of death are scrawled across the page in the handwriting you’d expect from someone writing at the speed of sound. He hesitates for just a moment before turning the book around displaying the page to Tails. Tails takes a moment to read it.

That book… kills people? Sonic nods.

Did- did you write that? He asks, pointing at Eggman’s name. He already knows the answer.

Sonic’s tone is gentle. I had found the book just moments before, and then Eggman was creating destruction unlike what we had ever seen from him. He was hurting so many people and the universe had just handed me the power to stop all of that pain in a second. I pulled the trolley lever and ONE died instead of dozens. Hundreds, even, if you consider all Eggman could’ve done in the future. And I realized, with this power, I can make the world a safer place for innocent people, people like Chris. You can understand that, right Tails?

Tails is silent for a second, seemingly at a loss for words. I… I know you have nothing but good intentions ... If this is what you believe is right, then I trust you. I said I’d stick by you through anything, and I meant it.

Tails, you really are the best friend I could ever ask for.

So with Tails by his side, Sonic continues the murders of criminals.

Right after Tails and Sonic have that conversation, I want this part right at the end of a chapter, closing it off suspensefully

Cut to shadow, standing atop a building and gazing down onto the streets, more peaceful than he’s used to. He does his angsty little shadow huff and looks to the side, going into internal monologue mode

The silhouette of a hedgehog stands against the warm reds and oranges of the setting sun. The dark figure gazes down from its perch upon a rooftop to the city below, a city much more peaceful than it’s used to.

I made a promise to Maria to protect humanity. Kira’s done well to bring a superficial peace to our world... but his judgement isn’t divine. Peace created from fear is not peace at all, it’s despotism. If Kira ever had a goal of world peace, it’s been crushed by his lust for power. Kira must be stopped. And I, for Maria, will be the one to stop him.

And in the blink of an eye, the shadow was gone.

But like tails is no way in hell sticking by sonic through ALL of the murder

Like yeah we’re gonna have a bit where tail is using BRAIN to help sonic get further with his plot and this is where we’ll build the conflict between sonic and shadow but like,,, I want tails to be sonic’s downfall

So like,,, i want to explore the immense guilt that tails is going through. it’ll be practically debilitating for him, which just makes him more and more vulnerable to sonic’s manipulation, building his glory in tails’s eyes, guilting him into staying alongside him, etc etc. Tails has moments where he believes in sonic and justifies all he’s helped with to soothe his guilt, he has moments where he mourns his innocence, blames himself for allowing sonic to continue, feels like he could’ve stopped it sooner but still can’t bring himself to

BUT he eventually has to. Perhaps after chris is killed. Maybe we won’t do anything with chris. I don’t particularly like chris, idk. And once tails has built up the constitution to go against sonic, he plans carefully. Tails has never been one to go into something without thinking it out first. And though he mourns his friendship with sonic he knows it has died bit by bit with each death they caused. Or maybe it died with eggman at the very beginning. So Tails builds up bit by bit his evidence against sonic. What he would like most of all is a confession, a confession where sonic admits and believes that what he’s done is wrong. He wants to see that sonic still has any good left in his heart, that he hasn’t snuffed it all out in his quest to become a god. And Tails knows that with building his case against sonic he’s also gathering evidence of his own guilt, but while he feels used and misguided by sonic and is very bitter over it he needs a punishment of some sort to calm the guilt

When sonic is eventually pinned by the evidence I want Tails to be very much like matsuda in the last episode of Death Note. Tails doesn’t get the remorse or shame he wants at all, sonic is PROUD of his wrongdoings, views himself as god. He’s disgusted with the one he called his closest friend and devastated at how much he’s been corrupted, wonders if he was EVER a good person or if the monster that has come out of him was just hiding all along. Did sonic ever help people out of goodheartedness or was it always out of desire for glory? And how does he laugh so carefree and lighthearted like it’s all meant nothing? Is all the death just a game to him?

But that’s very endgame what’s happening with shadow

Ok so we need to establish his backstory. Shadow lore is essential for his character motive. Maria. ARK. sonic adventure 2 etc etc etc ok now we know why shadow is angsty and why he wants to not let people die. Antihero time baby!!!!!!!

Okay this can be the start of the chapter after shadows introduction, or one chapter after that and we can have a chapter in between about tails and sonic’s collaboration. I don’t know, I don’t care I’m probably never actually gonna write this. Maybe I will, I hope I don’t I don’t want to have written a sonic fanfiction

But anyway shadow backstory section over did I establish whether or not hedgehogs can be killed by the deathnote?? Cause,,,, everyone’s name is kinda out there or really easy to guess. It’s just like,,,, [adjective that directly describes subject] the [species]. Is everyone named like tails where they’ve got a secret white person name and the name everyone calls them is a nickname? I’m wondering then what sonic’s goal will be with eliminating shadow, since I definitely want the main conflict to be a battle of wits but there’s no hidden names to be sorted out with this

“Where did the water go?”

Buck had never been scared of the water. He enjoyed it. He had been raised in it. Then he’d met Bobby and his clan of merfolk and learned that he could have a life outside of the ocean. So Buck did what he always did, went head first. 

Buck didn’t spend a lot of time in the water anymore. It was harder to find secluded spots where people wouldn’t see his tail the second he got wet. But the team made sure to take a week off every couple of months to relax at the beach. About three days of that week, the merfolk would spend their time purely in the water while the humans of the group kept the condo together. 

Seeing the water rushing towards him, Buck was scared…not just because there was a solid wall of water rushing towards him but because he had his best friend’s kid with him. He had precious cargo and he knew he wouldn’t be able to stop the water from crashing into them. 

People ran and screamed and Buck was making Chris promise not to let go of him. Chris was holding tightly to him and Buck turned to face the wave that was beginning to demolish the pier. He focused on freezing the wave to give everyone time to get off the pier. 

The weather was beginning to react to his emotions as the clouds rolled in. Everything ached, he’d never actually tried to control a wave this big. “Bucky, I don’t think I can make it transform,” Chris whispered, his voice strained. 

“It’s okay Buddie, don’t worry about it. I just need you to keep holding onto me tightly okay? I’m trying my best to slow it down.” The strain of trying to keep a wall of moving water behind only a couple of feet of frozen water was starting to have physical effects on him. He could feel blood drip from his nose. He knew he wouldn’t be able to hold it long, so he ran.

He found a vendor as he heard the ice behind him cracking. He put himself over Chris and hoped for the best…he knew it would take a lot to kill him, but Chris was still a pup, it was easier to hurt him than a full grown merman. “Okay Chris…Just keep swimming and if we get separated, keep communicating with me,” Buck stated as the ice cracked more eerily. 

The second the water hit him, he lost Chris. No matter how prepared he was for it, the shock of tons of water slamming into him was enough for his hands to be ripped from the boy. “CHRIS!”

“CHRIS,” Buck bolted upright, breathing heavily. Thunder rattled the windows of his loft as he tried to calm down. At this point, he wasn’t sure if he caused the storm or the weather had already forecast a storm. 

Standing up on shaky legs, he grabbed his phone from his charger and began to quickly change clothes. There was no point in him trying to go to sleep again. It was six in the morning, his shift started at nine…he could go to the station and get started on the chores for the day and make it easier for the team when they come in.

Things were finally starting to get better with the team. They talked with him, joked with him, and made him sort of feel like family again. After the lawsuit, he was worried that he’d never get that again…that he’d messed everything up. For a while, he’d stopped going to the Beach weak. First, it was way too soon after the tsunami where he had tried his best and had still lost Eddie’s son and let Chris down. Second, he knew he wasn’t wanted with the lawsuit debacle.

After this shift, they were all supposed to go to the beach to unwind. While Buck was still wary of the ocean, Chris had specifically asked him if he’d be coming and Buck couldn’t deny him anything. He’d be riding with Eddie after shift, so Buck grabbed his duffle and left the apartment. A run would do good to clear his head, even if he had to do it through the rain. 

Being a merperson, you learned how to avoid getting wet in the human world. Rain boots, two layers of pants, two layers of shirts and a rain jacket to boot. Three pairs of gloves, a rain hat and an umbrella. Until Buck calmed down, he wouldn’t be able to stop the storm, if he had caused it. If it was natural, he’d need to be extra calm and in control to stop the rain, but he doubted that he’d be able to calm down enough to even stop the thunder.

“Damn it Buckley, do you ever listen,” Bobby growled as they exited the truck. It was the last call of the day and it had been one grueling call. 

“Bobby there-”

“I told you to stop. I told you to leave it be and you ignored me. You almost outed our secret to every onlooker!”

“And what was I supposed to do, Captain? Let the kid drown?”

“We have two human-”

“Two humans who were on the other side of the property dealing with a coding patient!” Buck was breathing heavy. He’d never argued with Bobby like this before. He’d never thought that he’d have to see the look of pure anger in Bobby’s eyes after they’d all made up. He thought that Bobby trusted him after everything that had gone on.

Buck stalked off, ignoring Bobby’s yells for him to turn around…that they weren’t done talking yet. It reminded him of the way his father yelled at him the day he told him that he was leaving the clan to join Bobby’s. 

Grabbing his bag, Buck jogged out of the station, seeing Eddie leaning against his truck. He’d gotten off right before their last call to get Chris ready for the beach week. He knew that once they got there, Bobby would either be putting the call behind him, or he would be asked to leave. 

Eddie glanced up as Buck approached. There was a light smile on his face that fell at Buck’s stormy expression and the streak of lightning that flashed across the sky. “Hey Buck, everything alright?”

Buck clenched his jaw as he approached Eddie. “Just a rough call.” He worked his jaw and relaxed his shoulder. “We ready to go? Superman excited?”

Eddie decided to let it drop, taking Buck’s bag from him. “All ready and Chris has been talking about Beach Week all week and how he’ll finally have some ‘Bucky’ time.”

The thought of Chris being so excited made him both happy and sad at the same time. Happy because he loved when the little man was so excited. No one can be truly down when Chris was so excited. He was sad because he was afraid of disappointing Chris. He was afraid he wouldn’t be able to stay the week after the call they’d had.

The fun lasted until Athena and Bobby arrived. Hen, Karen, Denny, Maddie and Chim had arrived shortly after Buck, Eddie and Chris had. Buck, Eddie, and Chris were busy messing around with their abilities. Buck would freeze a patch of water, Eddie would boil the water around it and Christopher would practice his transformations to see if he could control the melting ice into gel or glass. 

Hen, Karen, and Denny had joined them by the water’s edge and were watching in fascination as Buck would make sculptures in the water with his ice for Chris to try and protect from his father’s abilities. 

For a little while, Buck forgot about the call. Chim and Hen didn’t mention it and he thought everything would be fine. It wasn’t until he heard the other car pull up and Athena’s voice that the events of the day came back to him. “Bobby, think about it. He thought he was doing the right thing to save that kid. Don’t do this and push him away.”

“He risked outing us and you’re taking his side?”

Hen looked apologetically at him as she stood. Buck slowly followed her, turning to watch as Bobby marched towards him. Before he knew what was happening, a burst of water was throwing him back into the waves lapping at the beach. The second the water had touched him, the pale purple and blue scales appeared as his legs became a tail. “Bobby, what the hell,” Eddie shouted.

That didn’t deter Bobby, he went to control the water in the air again but Buck stuck his hand up, freezing it before it could reach him. As Bobby continued to approach him, Buck screamed. He was never one to like his sonic ability. It stunned other merfolks and could kill regular humans. He only used it when he was in danger in the water…but he’d just used it on Bobby, the leader of the clan, the pseudo father he looked up to. 

The other merfolks were looking at him in shock. He hadn’t exactly declared the sonic scream as one of his abilities. It was for a good reason at the beginning. While he had trusted Bobby, he knew that some leaders could use the sonic scream as a weapon and he didn’t want the chance of that happening. His father had been one to abuse the gift Buck had, so he wasn’t so keen on letting anyone know about it.

Hen approached Buck hesitantly, but Bobby snapped out of his stupor and grabbed her arm. “Evan Buckley,” he knew that tone of voice. He knew what was happening and his eyes begged Bobby not to continue. “Your continued defiance against myself and the clan has caused you to become a danger to the clan.”

“Bobby,” Maddie shouted, but he paid her no mind.

“I want you out of my territory by morning. If you are found by any of the clan on our territory your punishment will come out of the book, do you understand?”

Before Buck could respond, Christopher was jumping into his arms. “No Bucky, please don’t go. Please,” he cried. 

Buck gave Chris a tight hug. He’d miss seeing the golden green tail of the boy as they chased each other in the water. He’d miss his laughter and his company. “It’s okay,” he murmured. “Bobby’s right. I almost exposed the clan. I’m a danger to your safety, so I have to go. But…but I’ll always love you, okay?”

Chris sniffled and a bolt of lightning hit directly in front of Bobby. “I love you too, but it’s not fair! You didn’t expose us, Bobby can’t make you leave!” Another bolt of lightning and he knew that Chris would need to calm down before he actually hurt anyone. 

“Superman, hey, Chris. Deep breaths.” Thunder rumbled around them as more lightning lit up the sky and the wind picked up. “You’re going to hurt someone if you don’t calm down Christopher. I need you to calm down. It’s okay. I’ll be gone for a little while, everyone will realize they miss me too much and I’ll be back in no time. I-I promise,” and God did he hate himself for lying to Chris.

If the look Eddie was giving him was anything to go by, Eddie hated that he was lying to Chris as well. “Really,” Chris asked quietly. The wind was dying down.

“Really.” Buck took a deep breath as the clouds started to disappear. “You remember the tricks I taught you to keep yourself in control?” Chris nodded and Buck felt himself nod. “I’m going to need you to do those multiple times a day so that no accidents happen while I’m gone, okay?”

“Okay, I promise Buck.”

“I need you to keep an eye on Maddie and your dad for me, okay? You know how they can get and I don’t want them getting too out of control, the hot heads that they are,” he winked.

Christopher laughed and that was all Buck needed. “I’ll look after them for you, promise. And I’ll make sure that Athena keeps Bobby in line,” Chris tacked on.

“Look at you, already knowing what I’m gonna say.” He licked his lips. “Okay, I gotta go…give Mads a hug for me.”

Once Chris was off of him, Buck turned his back to the group and let the water take him before they could see how affected he was. 

1 Week Later

Buck was lonely. He missed his clan, his sister, Eddie, and Chris. He missed sunlight and not having to look over his shoulder to make sure there were no predators or other clans sneaking up on him. He’d been out of Bobby’s territory for two days and was currently in open waters. He knew there was another territory coming up and was debating on whether or not to cross into the territory.

As he drew closer to the territory, the decision was made for him. There was a merperson trapped in a fishing net and multiple apex predators circling him and the other fish in the net. He was struggling to get out of the net, and Buck wasn’t going to let him be hurt by neither the predators on the ship or below it.

Buck formed a block of ice around the net and screamed. The ice cracked around the net before falling away as the predators scattered. Buck let the scream die and made his way to the net. Buck pulled at the net, breaking it apart enough for the fish and the merman to get through. 

They floated for a minute just looking at each other. The merman approached Buck and wrapped his arms around him, “Thank you. I don’t know what I would have done without you.”

Buck smiled, “you would have figured it out. Looks like you might have done some damage to your wrists in there, I could look at them for you.”

“I know a place we can go where we won’t look like juicy snacks to the sharks. I’m TK, by the way.”

“Buck.”

Buck followed the man as he made his way to a cave not far from the boat. “I have a collection of things that I don’t like sharing with the clan. I think they’ll think of it as stupid or something…so don’t judge.”

“Everyone has a hobby, TK. I’m not going to judge you.” It struck Buck how much he missed his clan. TK reminded him a little of Eddie with the way he moved in the water. It didn’t help that the navy scales of his tale matched Eddie’s. The one difference was that there were flecs of aqua blue in the scales as well. 

They worked in silence, Buck trying not to hurt the man more. “So what happened out there? Usually us mermen can tear ourselves out of fishing nets…not that we usually get trapped in them.”

A laugh resonated in his head. “Funny story, I have the worst luck ever. My wonderful ex,” Buck noted the sarcasm but said nothing, “basically kidnapped me to try and get me back. I told him off and knocked him over the head but I didn’t know where I was at first so I just went a random direction. Apparently I swam directly into the path of the jellyfish that were migrating.” Buck took note of the reddish spots that were on TK’s body and nodded. That makes sense. “Once I finally got free from them, I wasn’t paying much attention because I was trying to find somewhere safe to stay for a while so I figuratively licked my wounds. Found myself in a net and was slightly distressed…and you know the pheromones we put out when we’re injured and distressed…it drew the sharks and everything became a huge mess.”

“I’m sorry all that happened, Man. If you see your ex, let me know and I’ll beat him to shit for causing one of the worst days of your life today.”

“That’s sweet, thanks for that. What about you? What were you doing all the way out there?”

Buck sighed as he finished fixing up TK. He rested against the wall of the cave and took the time to look around at everything TK had collected. “I, uh…things happened and here I am.”

“That’s not very descriptive…are you okay? Someone out to hurt you or something?”

Buck turned his back to TK, looking out at the marine life swimming outside the cave. He bit his lip as he turned back to TK, “you feel like swimming to the surface so that only you can hear what I’m about to say? I haven’t gotten really good at directing my telepathy at one person.”

TK nodded and the two swam to the surface and bobbed along the waves. “Okay, Man, what’s up,” TK asked, clearing his throat a couple of times. It must have been a while since he had used his vocal chords.

“Where do I even start? Everything tied into it,” Buck laughed but it sounded more like he was in pain than happy.

“Start from the beginning.”

With one last look at TK’s face, he found himself describing the past year and a half. He started out with the ladder truck accident telling him how he had worked so hard to get himself back into working condition. He explained that his clan leader had kept him from his job for the longest time even though he was cleared for work. He told TK that he filed a lawsuit and how everyone had reacted to him after he’d won and how he’d turned down millions of dollars just to be with his family, that it was never about the money but getting back to his family. He shouted about the shit he put up with after returning and how it had finally started to get better and how he’d gone and fucked that up to. He cried as he explained the last call before the Beach Week and how he had a choice of saving a kid from drowning or watching him die while the humans of the team were too far away to help and how he had defended his call to Bobby but how Bobby had just seen him as even more of a fuck up. He explained what led up to him being attacked by Bobby and forced to leave the man he loved and his little boy and how he was just so fucking tired of fighting and living since he was a disappointment to every person he met.

If TK noticed the way the waves got rougher and the sky darkened, he didn’t mention it. He had this look on his face as Buck finished that Buck couldn’t decipher. “Yeah, that’s not gonna cut it. Bobby’s the asshole and fuck up here, Buck. It seems like he’s still dealing with his own problems and that’s not your fault. You did everything right-the lawsuit is debatable but in the end, that didn’t really hurt anyone. He should have never forced you to leave. You weren’t a danger to the clan, he was making an excuse to use you as a scapegoat for his own problems. The fact that he made you leave your mate and guppy-”

“He’s not my mate…Chris isn’t my guppy, but I thought they were going to be. I thought that finally we were moving on to being an actual family and I just…I fucked it up.”

TK grabbed his arm tightly, making Buck look at him. “You. Did. Nothing. Wrong. Do you hear me? Nothing. Bobby’s in the wrong. Bobby broke up the family you were building.” And somewhere between what TK was telling him and the point of contact, Buck felt the dying stop. 

Buck knew he was a social merman. Some people could make it in isolation, but that was never an option for Buck. His life depended on the bonds he made with others and all of his had been shattered when Bobby kicked him out of the clan. Buck quickly took his arm back from TK, “why did you do that? I don’t deserve being bonded with!”

Before TK could respond, two faces popped out of the ocean a few feet away from the pair. “TK, son, you okay?”

As if sensing Buck was going to bold, TK shot his hand out and gripped Buck’s arm again. “You don’t deserve to die because an asshole cut off all of your bonds. You deserve so much more and if I have to go talk some sense into that clan leader of yours, I will. Understand? You saved me today, you aren’t a fuck up. A fuck up wouldn’t have been able to save me.”

The wind picked up as if sensing Buck’s anxiety, but he nodded anyway as the two mermen approached them carefully. TK turned to the two with a smile on his face. “All good because of Buck. He really helped me out today. I think that he needs a place to stay for a little while, right Buck?”

Buck nodded shyly and TK released his arm to hug the tanned merman. “Nice to meet you, Buck. I’m Owen, TK’s father. This is Carlos, his boyfriend. We’d love to have you stay with us for however long you needed.” The older man placed a hand on his shoulder and Buck immediately felt the bond.

“Seriously, you guys don’t have to-”

“You saved the most important person in my life. It’s the least we could do,” Carlos stated, making yet another bond. “And for the record, I’ll be joining TK in talking to you clan leader. I can already tell you did nothing wrong and the guy’s being an asshole.”

“You don’t even know what happened,” Buck stated defensively.

“The fact that you just defended the person who threw you out of your clan shows us the kind of person you are Buck,” Owen stated. “Now, do you think you could put the storm clouds away? My clan’s waiting on the beach and would prefer not to grow tails.”

Movie Review: Sonic the Hedgehog (Spoilers)

Spoiler Warning: I am posting this review the day the movie is first released in the U.K, so if you haven’t yet seen the movie do not read on until you have.

General Reaction:

It's difficult with today's movie going audience to predict how movies like Sonic are going to perform and be received. Especially when the ad campaign did absolutely no favours for this movie other than convince Paramount that Sonic needed a more truthful redesign than what they originally put out.

Here's the thing. Sonic the Hedgehog to me is trying to be 2020's Detective Pikachu capitalising on that nostalgia of a beloved classic franchise.

However, I do feel that the haters and internet trolls out there are not going to be able to get past the comparisons this movie draws to 2011's Hop, which was a live-action/CGI-hybrid movie starring James Marsden who becomes the companion of a somewhat overbearing CG creature.

But, I encourage all movie goers, including the haters, to go into this with an open mind...particularly if you have any history with Sonic because you will get some enjoyment and walk away afterwards feeling happy overall.

My personal history with Sonic is slightly less-so than I would like. I played the original 2 SEGA games countless times and did watch some episodes of the earlier animated shows.

Having said that, my main Sonic fandom actually comes from the mid-noughties series Sonic X, which I feel this movie could have adapted but alas. Also I played the Shadow the Hedgehog spinoff game and more recently Smash Bros where I actually won as Sonic recently.

Now this movie reminds me of those shows and games practically in no way. I mean there is that opening sequence where you see Sonic running around and looping like he does in the SEGA games, I do also feel like James Marsden's character could easily be an older version of Chris, the boy from Sonic X, but aside from that, the gold rings and Robotnik...there's not a lot for the Sonic fans to spot.

I can't say this is a perfect movie, because it really is not. There are a lot of super speed gags and some of them do stick but some just fall flat and at times feel repetitive.

The worst crime this movie commits in my opinion is stealing Quicksilver's gimmick of speed scenes. By which I mean there are not one but two occasions when time is slowed down to almost a halt and we see Sonic running around still. They even have songs specific for these scenes.

Also, because I'm not fully aware of every Sonic incarnation, I did not understand why Sonic is effectively The Flash with being able to generate lightning. I mean I understand the laws of physics of generating enough friction can create static but I have never known Sonic to have any electric attacks.

I did like how the static electricity was preserved in his quills when they fell off though. In animation and the games you don’t think about Sonic’s realistic hedgehog qualities such as having quills so it was a nice touch.

I am also aware that Sonic has turned Super Saigen before with the help of the Chaos Emeralds I believe, so the fact we see a similar transformation here is quite good to see for that reason.

In terms of story I do think this is a simple plot that has been done numerous times, Hop is definitely one example that comes to mind, but I feel it’s also a very accessible story for non-Sonic fans.

I don’t know if Longclaw the Owl is an original character or one from Sonic mythology but I did not really vest much interest in her. Baby Sonic I thought was cute, but I refuse to accept anyone saying he is cuter than Baby Yoda as no one is cuter than Baby Yoda.

On the subject of age, it was good to see them acknowledging Sonic’s age for a change as opposed to just presuming because up until now I did always think he was some sort of teenager but this confirms it. If Baby Sonic is around 5-9 years old then Sonic in present day is late teens which makes sense with his temperament.

The gold rings being used as teleportation devices, I don’t know if they’re meant to be in the games but loved their use here.

I enjoyed the use of technology in this movie and particularly Robotnik’s commentary on how technology is more reliable than people which ties into his ultimate fate of being stranded alone without another soul on the planet he is sent to which forces him further into insanity.

The fact Sonic’s story is about fitting into society while James Marsden’s character is about figuring out what’s right in front of him are great parallels and do balance each other out rather well.

Also where he ends up with effectively being part of a family as well as a town hero was a nice way to wrap things up.

However, that mid-credits scene showing the arrival of Sonic’s faithful protege Tails to the real world looking for his friend screams for a sequel, especially if this means that more of Sonic’s companions could be introduced in the future like Knuckles, Shadow or even Rouge the Bat.

Characters:

Dr. Robotnik:

I don’t want to say he is the best character because I feel all four of the main cast members do a great job, but my favourite definitely is Jim Carrey as Robotnik. This is Carrey back on form and there were so many great shades of back when he was at the top of his game in the 90s with work such as Ace Ventura, The Mask and The Grinch.

From his first scene he stole every scene he was in. You could tell that he was taking the role seriously while also having the time of his life with it and this is why, back in the day, he was on such high form.

He may not have been the overweight bald megalomaniac, at least with the latter two not until the end of the movie, but he was the evil genius and mad scientist and almost every line he delivered he nailed.

I think “rockonnaissance” is going to be the new “joygasm” for him but it worked for The Riddler and it works for Robotnik.

I’m also happy he was nicknamed Eggman in the movie by Sonic because of the shape of his drones, I thought it was fitting. I can’t wait for Sonic to see the new bald version.

Sonic:

Yes Sonic is second but I said it before, there were times when he was overbearing.

Ben Schwartz by the way does a fantastic job voicing the character, I know he voices Dewey in the new Ducktales series and also for some reason voices BB-8 in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but this is my favourite role of his voice is so realistic for a wide-eyed and somewhat innocent “alien” hedgehog.

I enjoyed how when he first came to Earth he was this urban legend around Green Hills who spent those 10 years people watching and either making up nicknames for the citizens while also longing to fit in with them but knowing not to.

Also the movie’s comedy was never as vulgar as Ryan Reynolds or immature as Russell Brand. I think they had one fart joke in the movie but the rest was generic comedy movie material which was hit and miss in comedy.

It was quite touching also that he was so protective of Green Hills and the status quo so much so that when Tom said he was planning on leaving to move to San Francisco, he was so offended and I thought it was going to be that trope of “Oh now they’re going to separate only to discover they need each other later” but instead it was a few digs and then they got over it.

I am so happy they did redesign the character because the movie’s original look for him was horrendous and did make Cats look reasonable whereas this is more like the Sonic everyone knows and I did not realise he didn’t have his traditional running shoes until Jojo, the niece of Tika Sumpter’s character, replaced them for him.

I will keep saying I want a sequel just because I am interested to see where Sonic’s story takes him next, especially with Tails now on Earth and the potentiality that others could join.

The Wachowskis

Again I thought James Marsden and Tika Sumpter did very pleasant jobs. This is my favourite James Marsden performance to date. Up until now his roles have been either corny or simply bland for me but here, yes there were a couple of dodgy jokes and moments but overall I thought Tom was a very likeable character and at the very least a driven character.

His wife Maddie, first of all props to the movie writers for having a mixed-race couple front and centre in the movie. But also, Maddie, who is also an accomplished career woman alongside her accomplished career husband, did not weigh Tom down or the story down as simply being “just the wife”.

I also enjoyed Maddie’s sister and niece, Jojo is quite cute and for the little screentime that she has does well with it for a child her age. While Natasha Rothwell continues to grow in my estimations after her fabulous turn in Love, Simon as the very sassy teacher.

Others:

As for the rest of the cast, this was a great who’s who for spotting the great jobbing actors as Lee Majdoub, Neal McDonough, Michael Hogan and Adam Pally all have minor supporting roles that do not go unnoticed.

Meanwhile Colleen Villard (née O'Shaughnessey), who voices Tails in the video games as well as voicing Wasp in The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes series and Sora in the Digimon franchise, reprises her role as the anthropomorphic fox in an uncredited mid-credits scene. I am hoping she returns for the sequel because it is good to hear her acting again.

Recommendation:

I do see a future for this movie in terms of a franchise. I do not quite see it crossing over with Detective Pikachu as I know there were rumblings of some sort of Super Smash Bros. movie cinematic universe.

However, if the movie does warrant a sequel, and with a current Rotten Tomatoes score of 64%, considering this seems to be a deciding factor for some cinema goers, I don’t see why not. I am hoping the future of this franchise does see the introductions of Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge and even Amy.

Potentially also spinning off from this franchise, there could be Donkey Kong, Mega Man and maybe even Mario to create that Super Smash Bros. universe.

Overall I rate the movie 8/10, it’s a great movie and definitely has some rewatchability to it.

Having said that I can see where some cinema snobs or even haters may come from as they inevitably target the movie but I encourage everyone not to be taken in by other people’s opinions, not even mine, make up your own minds and see it for yourself.

Sonic Movie Legendary Pictures Reboot

My true final edit I finally decided to put the Sonic movie positivity tags because I want this to get more attraction. Despite people may dislike this but after seeing the positivity tag since there are two but the, “Sonic movie positivity” tag is the one people use more. I just want people to notice this. Again I’m not making more of these. Especially I wanted to have discussions with folks who are more positive about the movie and just about anybody okay I’m scared of that but whatever this is fan fiction.

This is something I’ve been working on for the past two nights and this morning and just right now. I started on this late at night after I found out my grandfather was dead. For some time I wanted to try to make some fake thumbnail giving the idea Legendary bought the movie rights to Sonic. But let me talk about this. This all started after I admitted on a reblog I made detailing something like this.

I’ve been honest about the Sonic movie. Such as being cautious and optimistic compared to so much negativity that actually gets annoying. I do like how a lot of folks are excited for the film in some positivity tags for the movie, I’m grateful they are around.

Yet this was an idea I decided to write. Mainly a trilogy of films if Warner Bros and Legendary got the rights to the film. Or the possibility of the film already being rebooted. I’ll be honest it sounds rude that I’m already making this, since the film isn’t out. But I wanted to share my vision and I’m open to everyone’s thoughts. You can well be critical about it, since this is all fan fiction. At one point I was nervous to share this. Including because of that picture at the top. Including it’s very long and be warned this is part 1 of a trilogy. It’s not perfect but again this is my vision of how I wanted a Sonic movie should of been. 

I’m opened to opinions and we can discuss this. Including I need to brainstorm about the first sequel and after that the second sequel. Especially this is less ambitious than my old ideas. Or it’s still ambitious because I’m sharing these details. It’s a long read.

Last edit this isn’t a part 1 anymore considering what I have decided or am deciding. This will be explained in a separate post and this is basically a first draft that I will keep out in the open for any possible discussion.

Two powerful and deadly robots built to destroy Sonic and help Robotnik.

Now with the world trying to understand what is going on, both on the run from the government and trying to fight Robotnik’s forces. Sonic and his friends must risk their lives to save the planet from these dangerous doppelgangers, and Robotnik himself. While during the journey, friendships will be forged, along with brotherhood in the face of destructive robotic terror”

Tom Holland as Sonic The Hedgehog. A 21 year old hedgehog with a cocky attitude, easy going demeanor, and some what short temper, yet strong sense of justice, compassion, and a love of freedom and adventure. Born with the ability of super sonic speed. He uses his powers to fight off Dr. Ivo Robotnik and other evil forces.

Height: 4 feet.

Chris Pratt as Sergeant Gary Andrews. A 31 year old GUN soldier with a confident attitude and headstrong with a sense of justice for all life forms, but also very down to earth. Including very courageous in times of extreme danger.

Realizing that Sonic and his friends may be the world’s best chance at stopping Robotnik, he goes on the run from the same military he’s in to help them.

Paul Giammatti as Dr. Ivo Robotnik. A 54 year old scientist with a high IQ of 300 who wants to take over the world. Truly an ego maniac who has a psychotic belief of self entitlement, as well arrogant and narcissistic. He won’t stop at his goal and will destroy anyone that gets in his way.

Finn Wolfhard as Miles Tails Prower. A 14 year old two tailed fox. Possessing very high intelligence, and being a mechanical genius, but also a sweet and gentle soul. He’s Sonic’s best friend and looks to Sonic as a brother figure and inspiration. Able to use his two tails to fly and amazing as an aerial pilot, Tails is truly a big help.

Height: 3 feet.

Hailee Steinfeld as Amy Rose. A 18 year old hedgehog who’s a cheerful attitude, though erratic girl, with a positive attitude and boundless energy. Even though some times having a scary temper, she actually has a pure heart. Including has a crush on Sonic but keeps it to a minimal and it’s mainly a secret. She’s not obsessed with him but wants to accompany him on his adventures.

Height: 4 feet.

Metal Sonic. A robotic doppelganger of Sonic himself. Possibly Robotnik’s greatest creation, and serving as his obedient and silent enforcer. Metal is a intelligent machine with a very dark side. Truly a cold hearted, aggressive, and ruthless killer. He’s obsessed with proving his superiority to Sonic in every way and destroying him once and for all. All to finally prove that he’s the, “Real Sonic”.

Height: 4 feet.

Silver Sonic. Another robotic doppelganger of Sonic himself. But compared to Metal, Silver Sonic is more like a machine that gets told what needs to be done. More focused on causing destruction and will kill anyone that appose Robotnik’s rule. Truly a tall brute that’s more bulky, and monstrous than Metal. Making him Robotnik’s muscle. Yet still fast which makes him overall dangerous.

Height: 11 feet.

Emilia Clarke as Katherine Grady. A 31 year old zoologist and a single mother who travelled to South Island and has lived there for some time. Originally from London, she wanted to study and discover what life is like on the island that not many humans travel to. She’s a caring and supportive woman who values all forms of life. Yet she will get serious when she needs to be. Especially to protect the ones she loves, including her daughter.

She has actually known Sonic for some time but not much. But she gets caught up with Sonic, his friends, and Gary when they are on South Island. Finding out what’s going on she helps them by trying to find where Robotnik may be at.

Millie Bobby Brown as Kaliyah Grady. A 14 year old girl and Katherine’s daughter. With Katherine giving birth to Kaliyah at a young age but helped by her father. Kaliyah's father didn’t wanna take care of his daughter anymore because he felt it wasn’t his responsibility, leaving the two and other family members when Kaliyah was 4.

Kaliyah is a fearless and generous young girl. Growing up and not affected much by her father walking out of her life. A bit more adventurous than her mother in some regards. She actually makes friends with Tails and the others when she and her mother get caught up with Sonic.

Idris Elba as Abraham Westbrook. The 54 year old Commander of GUN short for Guardian Units Of Nations. He is Gary’s commander. While being described having a, “Heart Of Stone” and stoic, he is actually quite passionate, having a softer side he rarely shows, and a great sense of duty towards his people.

Assuming Sonic is a threat and shocked when Gary who he considers one of his best soldiers actually tries to help the hedgehog. He realizes Gary was right when he sees Sonic is only trying to stop Robotnik just like him.

Joe Manganiello as Lieutenant Derek Sanderson. A 41 year old GUN soldier who’s good friends with Gary. Despite being more stoic and serious than Gary, he values the same sense of values Gary shares. During a search for Robotnik, Metal Sonic ambushes the squad that was sent, and murders almost everyone. Except for Derek who had survived. Only seeing Metal as what he describes as a, “Blue Blur” and his shape. He and even the commander believe Sonic is working for Robotnik.

Believing Sonic to have murdered his squad and working for Robotnik. He considers Sonic a, “Psychopathic Freak” and makes it his personal mission to not just kill Robotnik, but also Sonic. Basically developing a hatred of the hedgehog and will not stop till he’s dead. What makes it worse when he finds out Gary has joined Sonic to help him. He see’s it as a betrayal of brotherhood, he and GUN try to catch them. Even if he has to get answers out of what he considers Sonic’s associates which are his friends Tails, and Amy, but also Katherine and her daughter.

Setting, characters, and notes.

1. The development of the story was rather difficult. Including I think I felt the pain and annoyance of how the development for the story of Brad Peyton’s Rampage went like. Also possibly even the writers behind Jeff Fowler’s Sonic movie. As the start of a possible franchise and first film, elements of Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2, and Sonic CD were used. With characters like Sonic, Dr. Robotnik/Eggman, Tails, Amy, Metal Sonic, and Silver Sonic(From Sonic 2 also known as Mecha Sonic too) being the first to be introduced.

Looking over those first three games and trying to build a story was difficult. Because there was hardly any(Since gameplay was the main focus) but elements that could be used. 

There were possibilities of the Death Egg and Little Planet. But to avoid a possible lawsuit by Disney it’s likely a Death Egg adaption might not happened unless it’s changed a bit. Including Little Planet seems a bit much to introduce including the Death Egg. 

So the story became a more simple but working one that uses elements from those earlier games. With the simple premise being Sonic with his allies must stop Robotnik from getting all the Chaos Emeralds which would help him a lot.

2. It’s strangely an origin story in a way. While Sonic, Tails, and Amy have known each other for a long while. But Robotnik and Sonic haven’t met yet. Yet Robotnik knows about Sonic and is impressed and inspired to make two robots. One to be a perfect counterpart to Sonic himself(Metal Sonic), and one that’s more of a brute(Silver Sonic) and extra back up.

With Sonic being framed in a way by Metal, and Robotnik having a larger goal to take over the world and build Robotnik Land. Including to give his newest robotic helpers Metal and Silver Sonic all the power they need to help him take over.

3. The setting is based upon a theory I’ve had for the world of Sonic in the games. If you ignore the, “Two Worlds” thing or something. Including this set up also confirms what will be explored in the next film.

Animal like people such as Sonic have been on the Earth from the start. It’s not a story where a character from another dimension comes to our world. In a similar sense it’s like Legendary’s Monsterverse and that creatures like Sonic have been here since the start. In a era before humans became the dominant species.

What happened to these animals is that because of when Chaos decided to unleash his anger on the world. The scene from Sonic Adventure, Chaos was the reason why these animals are no larger the dominant species in a sense. Because of Chaos supposedly destroying the world. While many other species got to live. Tragically the echidna race had it far worse since they were the first to suffer and were the reason Chaos was angered. Slowly the echidna race was near extinction. Which led to Knuckles being the only one of his kind.

Again Chaos is the reason why Sonic and his friends and other animals seem rare. As they live on certain islands and South Island being one of them. Yet there is no tension between these animals and humans. Because there is no point and humanity views these creatures as equals. Yet considering these creatures don’t go out in the human world much, it’s rather surprising to see one in public. This is something the first sequel will explore.

4. It’s something I don’t mind considering it’s doing what I’m doing. Because when I look at this I would of liked to see the upcoming Sonic movie be something like this. Despite my annoyance with how Chaos is treated. Unless you explore him in a sequel.

5. Brad Peyton is a choice I’ve wanted for sometime because of his work on Rampage. But also to add to that San Andreas, yet Rampage being the biggest reason. Another choice which I’m still thinking about is Michael Dougherty who directed Trick R Treat, Krampus, and Godzilla King Of The Monsters. Yet Brad has that style I want for the film and give him a good writer and it can help.

6. Robotnik was actually a well known genius before becoming a villain. Related to the great Gerald Robotnik.(Confirming his existence in this universe and setting up the possibility of a Sonic Adventure 2 adaption and in a way confirming Shadow probably exists in this universe and so does the Space Colony Ark) Ivo was actually respected but over time people began to see who he was. 

He moved to South Island to get away from the human world. Including where he wouldn’t be interrupted and plan for something greater. It’s where South Island he builds his dangerous robots especially Metal Sonic and Silver Sonic. Including he learns of the Chaos Emeralds and wants to use them for his own selfish reasons.

Before hand Robotnik wasn’t bothered by the animals on South Island and assumed he was friendly, Ivo just minded his own business yet he took advantage of the situation by making his own company, making money off the animals to get more parts. Including selling some of his machinery to buyers from across the world. His entire workforce is made out of robots. For a lot of years he kept out of the public eye for many years to make a big surprise. Which is him rising up to become a villain.

7. Metal Sonic is heavily inspired by his OVA counterpart. While Robotnik was inspired by Sonic’s powers to make Metal. He truly wanted to make the perfect killing machine. But also something that can destroy Sonic if he were to try to stop him. Robotnik gave Metal intelligence to learn and adapt from Sonic. Which leads to Metal developing this mindset and obsession that he should be the only Sonic. While not having something like Sonic’s, “Life Data” like in the OVA where he has Sonic’s memories. He’s more like how Sonic CD introduced him. Yet after encountering Sonic he slowly starts changing and develops this hatred of his organic counterpart.

Edit after looking at Hyper Metal Sonic on Sonic News Network. I still wanna incorporate the concept of Metal having Sonic’s memories. Because the idea makes Metal seem more dangerous and like the info said make him durable. Maybe Robotnik gets Sonic’s blood somehow it’s tricky. I just love the OVA so it’s mainly like that version. Edit I’ll admit and use that quill idea which me and other folks are thinking in the trailer for Jeff Fowler’s Sonic movie that Robotnik might use that quill of Sonic to power Metal Sonic or something.

Especially Metal’s design from the games hardly changed. Including the direction to take with Metal was to make him scary. He doesn’t talk, he doesn’t care who he hurts, he’s super fast and super strong. Robotnik intended him to be the true opposite of Sonic. Any others are just back up, while Metal is seen as perfect, the true copy.

While cranking up the idea he’s like the OVA but cranked up to be more scary. Including inspirations from Brightburn, Man Of Steel, and Brad Peyton’s Rampage and not just the OVA. He’s brutal, fast, and unforgiving, but not to a point it’s R rated but it’s shown he’s actually killing people, even breaking bones, yet still PG-13. Showcasing Robotnik went all out to make him this perfect killing machine. Especially to frame Sonic for murdering GUN soldiers.

8. Silver Sonic while based upon the final boss before the Death Egg Robot in Sonic The Hedgehog 2. He’s actually inspired by Silver Sonic V3.0/V3.1 from the Archie Sonic comics. Such as design which resembles more of modern Sonic but still huge. 

The direction for Silver Sonic is while Metal is the true copy of Sonic, he was built to be a unbeatable tank. What Robotnik did with Silver Sonic is that he wanted a tall and almost unstoppable monster. The fact Robotnik loved what Sonic’s abilities can do, he didn’t wanna just make one. Silver Sonic is mainly a brute, built to be the tank while Metal is more of Robotnik’s enforcer and to lead his robots. Especially as Silver Sonic does not care of proving his superiority to Sonic, he listens to Robotnik, and just wants to wreck shit and kill anybody who appose Robotnik’s rule.

A name to call them is the, “Metal Brothers”.

But also the other reason why Silver Sonic was added is kind of funny. It was the idea to add a larger robot. Since the Death Egg Robot is connected to the Death Egg, and while Robotnik has used many machines to fight Sonic. I just love robotic Sonic’s. Including the reason to make so tall is that I some what wanted a giant monster, something like a kaiju. Yet it’s not because it’s a giant robotic Sonic causing destruction and shit. But compared to Metal, he’s built to be different.

Another funny thing his height was chosen by what people believe how tall a sasquatch is.

Mecha Sonic from Sonic & Knuckles will make an appearance in the first sequel. Being a replacement for Silver Sonic after he’s destroyed.

9. All of the animal characters are CGI. But their designs are changed radically. They are very familiar. Yet they are more furrier, Sonic has fingerless gloves, it’s unknown of how Amy might look but some changes might be made.(Because of her dress and how under it is exposed) But she would remain familiar. It’s done in a similar route like Legendary’s Detective Pikachu. But other added details such as Sonic’s eyes don’t look like one eye. Despite it was confirmed they are two eyes in the games. 

Along with little details like Sonic having fangs like in Sonic Adventure. With the possibility of Sonic’s ears could be curved a bit. But it might make a live action werehog’s ears look redundant. Yet the werehog looks really different.

Sonic, Amy, and Tails were buffed up to be taller and actually older. To show that they were teenagers or young adults, and that they were not that small. Compared to their game’s counterparts. Really I didn’t want them to be that small.

Their ages were buffed up about six years from the games counterparts. The reason being while strange, was the fact these characters get porn drawn of them. It’s best to make them older so we are playing it safe. Yet the other direction is the fact they are a bit more mature. But they are the same characters you still know.

10. Green Hill(despite the annoyance of the fanbase), Chemical Plant(that too despite the annoyance the fanbase), Mystic Cave, Labyrinth, and Metropolis are included as real places. While development of the world is still at hand, the concept that certain countries of today still exist while some fictional places in certain countries.

Metropolis is where the final battle on the main land takes place between Sonic and Gary against Metal and Silver Sonic, and whoever else is involved. Originally a version of Stardust Speedway was gonna be in here. But considering it’s origin it was best to keep it out. Despite it being the place where Sonic and Metal first clash in the games.

11. The movie explores the themes of friendship and brotherhood. Including with elements of family. With Gary in a way a older but human version of what Sonic could be. His bond develops over the course of the film with the hedgehog. Including things such as Sonic and Tail’s brotherhood, Gary’s brotherhood with Derek. Including the friendship between Kaliyah and Sonic’s friends. Along with the idea Gary being the father figure to Kaliyah, Katherine’s friendship with Amy. 

Which jeez that’s a lot. Yet this development of characters makes them strong. Especially in the face of certain characters such as Robotnik, Metal, and Silver Sonic.

12. The characters of Katherine(Especially her), and Kaliyah are inspired by Johanna and Hilda from the Netflix series Hilda.

Along with the fact originally Millie Bobby Brown was gonna play Amy. But I wanted to add this daughter element and Millie as Amy I guess bothered me. Despite it being good casting, but I wanted to be comfortable with it so I decided to have Hailee Steinfeld as Amy.

13. Idris Ebla is indeed playing the movie version of the GUN Commander from the video games. The reason I didn’t have his name as Tower because of possible idea that Sega wouldn’t allow that since his name in the Archie Sonic comics is Abraham Tower. But hopefully still using the Abraham name is fine. Especially it’s meaning since for these human characters I looked up there meanings like I do with my other character castings.

Reasons why Idris is casted as the commander because simply Idris is awesome. Including the presence he would bring to the character. The other choice was Lawrence Fishburne. Besides his race wasn’t important from what I know. Despite I do think of trying to diversify casting. But I like these casting choices.

Yet also the commander being here sets up his role or something in a Sonic Adventure 2 adaption. While it also helps with the idea someone needs to be in charge of these military forces.

14. The score would be composed by Andrew Lockington who did the scores for Brad Peyton’s San Andreas and Rampage. Other musical choices include Papa Roach with, “Face Everything And Rise”, and 30 Seconds To Mars with, “This Is War”. Including the added bonus of the original Sonic Boom song from Sonic CD, a possible song from Crush 40, and even Zebrahead with, “His World”. Along with possibly Linkin Park’s, “Numb” which is a theme between Sonic and Metal. With a added bonus of, “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” by Smashing Pumpkins and Christion Gray’s, “Stop Me”.

15: Reason why a human element was included for some reasons. Okay reason because it’s live action yet other reasons. While I like characters like Princess Elise(I would like to adapt her and change 06 probably but I don’t know if Sega and Sonic Team and much of the fanbase would even allow that. I would love to put maybe a cameo, and a easter to show Soleanna exists in this world. But the story of 06 would be different), and I’m bothered by a character like Chris Thorndyke. There seems to be this stigma against humans which is some what reasonable.

The concept of having Gary be a soldier and a adult, strangely an action hero is to defy expectations and make certain fans change their minds. Including to have a human directly trying to help Sonic instead of being a cheerleader. He’s literally trained for this, and is actually going against his military to help this hedgehog. Along with the fact he’s so courageous it doesn’t matter he tries to go against certain robots, especially Metal and Silver Sonic. Give him a assault rifle and a grenade launcher and he’s gonna do the best he can. He will be terrified but he’s not gonna run away, he’s truly what if Sonic was a human being but older. Including he’s not gonna lose what is possibly the best friend or even a brother he never had, that shares the same values he has.

While I know not every human needs to be that, and that’s good. But Gary is the example of a person who’s willing to risk his life to not just save the planet, but to also protect a creature he never knew that would be his best friend. The kind of hero who does something because it’s the right thing to do.

16. I’m tempted to add Dwayne Johnson but I won’t. Besides he has Rampage anyway and other major films. But I’m not tempted anymore.

17. I strangely wanna put a little reference to Steven Universe considering two characters are inspired by Hilda. Such as actors or similar to certain characters. But the film will be filled with more characters and you gonna be careful with a lot of characters. Maybe the next movie.

Conclusion Sonic Vs Punch final round in #Tsofph Season 9(Final judgement)

Sonic said "That's why I will believe you to the very end"

Punch's weakness is Sonic himself, his kindness, pure and childish. Sonic's heart can't grow. He will remain as a child, an innocent child forever no matter how traumatic he had been through. The whole reason why Punch chooses to protect him is that he won't change his heart and is always honest, unlike any lives that she met including herself. (And that's the whole reason why everyone in real life loves Sonic I guess.) So in this fight, Sonic absolutely win as always.

But Sonic didn't finish Punch off but tried to save her somehow. Punch didn't want to hurt Sonic anymore, so she ran away from him. This time Sonic won't let his brother go alone so he grabs Punch's hand.

Punch: Why?! Could you please let me know why you're trying to hold me?! It's so painful to be near you! Because you were hurting me because of our existence. Both of us shouldn't be born in this cruel world. Because of you...I became so unstable and crazy. That's why the right thing for this world to be protected...I must kill you...my brother........

Sonic: ......................Punch......

Gilgamesh: Those were Punch's last words as a human. That was her last piece of human life she had. She gave to Sonic to be able to live in this world and protect him from the darkness or Kujaku to destroy him. Punch, who was only able to interact with others through murder, hate and negativity, her last piece of human life still held her for not becoming a murderer and still acting like a human. Her last piece of human life is lost for Sonic to be safe.

Punch sank into the darkness of the vortex. Sonic is very afraid of water. But in the end, he jumped to rescue Punch from the dark water vortex that was killing Punch. Sonic is paranoid and very afraid of losing his brother or his other self makes him forget his fear of water or underwater. After Sonic pulls Punch out of the water vortex, Punch is still unconscious and stops breathing making Sonic super worried about Punch. Even a non-human had a sigh of type of breathing.

Sonic: Punch.......why are you always protecting me? I never do anything for you as brother.....nothing.......why.....if you say you hate me.....why this Punch as a human........sacrifice for me......you too...."Punch".... Why in Babylon....you save me from that flood.....!! I know you sent Egghead to me.....Amy.....Shadow.....Tails.......what about yourself, King Gilgamesh? Why are you giving your friendship to me?! Why did you two leave me alone?!

Without Punch exist, Both Sonic and Gilgamesh would have fallen into the darkness that possessed them.

Sonic: Next time I will be the one who protects you as brother.....you give me hope then it's my turn to give my hope to you.

Punch: Sonic.......?

Sonic: Punch! You're okay! I'm glad you're alive!

Punch: I knew you would save me because I trust in you, my brother.
