I love to yip about Art I too love the funny little clown. He’s a huge comfort character for me. Like think about it, this 6’2” guy who can rip a phonebook in half is gentle and sweet and kind… he is protective and loyal to those he deems worthy of affection.

I think the idea of Art being loyal to people he holds close to his heart is so comfy… like he’s always got you. This mf is your ride or die, and he can’t die! Art is ride or die with his companions and he will stop at nothing to ensure their safety. He may not have the most orthodox methods but he has, what he feels are, good intentions.

I think about Art’s humanity and it’s one of his most endearing qualities for me to brainstorm on. Like who he was before becoming a demon, what his hobbies were, and wonder if he has fleeting moments of lucidity where he recalls who he was before he became Art the clown and tries to recapture those blurry years. I wonder how much of it remains and if seeing other humans live their lives freely angers him because he’s jealous.

As a demon he is bound to certain rules and dogma, unlike humans. Like the undead covet the living, in the same vein they have what he wants: to live without limits.

Art’s rest state in Terrifier 3 got me thinking about him as a supernatural entity too. What happens when he goes dormant? Does he dream, or is it just a pleasant and inviting darkness? Does he do it to recharge or was it a defense mechanism put in place by his existing humanity to end his killing?

I just think about him a lot…
