Hypnotizd x Gargoyles

For Hypno I chose the fantastic cartoon Gargoyles!

Hypno gives me cool 90s guy vibes and Gargoyles was my absolute favourite non-anime cartoon as a kid, so I had to include it! And, honestly, I just thought it'd be fun to draw Hypno as a gargoyle. I love the way he turned out.

The story of Gargoyles follows a group of warrior creatures called gargoyles who lived alongside and defended humans over 1000 years go. Despite acting as protectors, they were feared by humans and slaughtered in their sleep. The survivors of the massacre, a group of 5 men and their pet, were frozen in stone for eternity by a curse and doomed to never awaken again.

However, 1000 years in the future, an eccentric billionaire named Xanatos found a way to break the curse and brought the gargoyles back to life in modern Manhattan.

The story primarily follows the displaced gargoyles as they struggle to adjust to the shock of waking up in an unfamiliar future as the last members of their species.

While the show has plenty of action, as the gargoyles secretly protect the humans who live alongside them, the show is rather deep, often tackling nuanced issues like prejudice, mourning, and finding your identity in a culture that is not your own. Gargoyles also references a ton of mythology and literature and is arguably, in addition to the main plot with the gargoyles, an adaptation of multiple Shakespeare plays.

If you've never watched Gargoyles, I highly recommend it! It's one of the best serialized cartoons out there and I say that having also seen Avatar: the Last Airbender so you know I mean it.

Style references:

This is Goliath, the leader of the gargoyles and the a dual protagonist alongside his human love interest, Elisa Maza (who is one of my favourite female leads in anything ever). I would also like to add that Elisa is mixed race (Nigerian on her mother's side and indigenous, mostly Hopi, on her father's side) which was really unusual for a TV protagonist in the 90s. I just think that's cool, good job Gargoyles.

Goliath and Elisa - I just wanted to show you how cute they are with each other. Love is real and you can find it with this detective lady and her 1000 year old Scottish bat creature friend.

I had to make a crossover with X-Men. They all live in New York, Nightcrawler is halfway to looking like a gargoyle already, and canonically gets along great with them:

Larry Hudson and Countess Flores for @thebramblewood's Vampire Casting Call!!

Finally got to make some sims for this yaaaay!! 🥳 I had so much fun making each of them. Larry was very much a grungy 80s vibe because I've been waiting to use this hair forever, and Lady Flores is done up in 1900s fashion which was pretty cool to put together 😊

Anyway, here are two near opposite sims that hopefully fit into wherever their presence is needed 😉

Little Note: Larry has two everyday outfits in his human and vampire forms and Lady Flores has one. The rest are empty! (I wanted to use a lot of cc lol 😆)

Larry Hudson

Age: Young Adult Pronouns: He/Him Sexuality: Pansexual Aspiration: Party Animal Traits: Music Lover, Party Animal, Slob Backstory: Larry is always the life of the party, spending his life and afterlife on a mission to find the coolest parties and bands. Turned at a random concert in the 80s, Larry's still stuck in his time period, with a retro aesthetic that keeps him "in style." He never saw the vampire that turned him after their one meeting, but maybe someday their paths will cross again.

Countess Maria Francisca Flores

Age: Adult Pronouns: She/Her Sexuality: Straight Aspiration: Vampire Family Traits: Family-Oriented, Genius, Bookworm Backstory: Born in the late 1850s to the Count and Countess Flores, Lady Flores was known for her wits and love of books. Taking an interest in the sciences early on, she would often talk to visitors of her fathers, many specializing in one form of science or another, and gained a variety of knowledge as a result. Eventually this interest in science evolved into an interest in the supernatural, and by the 1900s she'd figured out how to turn herself into a vampire. At some point, when her family and friends eventually passed on, Lady Flores moved to the secluded area of Forgotten Hollow, where she could continue her research as well as pursue another interest. Establishing the House Flores, where she would take in fledgling vampires as well as ones she'd turned herself in order to teach them about their eternal state of life (such as Matias Gonzalez 😉). In the present day she's raised hundreds of vampires now living in the sim world, all while continuing her scientific research, currently studying a variety of cowplants in her greenhouse lab.

Brooklyn Headcanon

WARNINGS!⚠️: none.

Brooklyn seems like the kind of gargoyle to try to be cool by leaning on a wall, only to miss it completely and fall over.

Brooklyn will spend a lot of time attempting to impress you with dumb stunts. He’ll try to do a barrel roll as he glides if you so happen to be observing. He’ll try to do a wheelie on a motorcycle but might blow it up (again) somehow, (cue Lexington screaming in anguish.)

Brooklyn will become very flustered if any of his stunts don’t land and will become redder than he already is. He just kinda goes, “uh…. uuhhhh… oops.” All in good faith, you two always manage to laugh it off later.
