Some people have a rather harsh opinion of Asgore, I simply think that he is a person who simply wanted to save his people from being locked away forever in the Underground, and what do you think?

I feel pretty bad for Asgore and I don’t like Toriel as much anymore. People can make bad decisions when they’re grieving, and Asgore’s declaration was a heat of the moment thing you know he regrets now.

And because Toriel abandoned him and the kingdom to their despair, Asgore has to carry the burden of his kingdom’s hopes and dreams while putting on a smile while dealing with his grief. It’s why he takes his own life if Flowey doesn’t do it

Monsters have high opinions of Asgore, monsters were scared of Toriel in the ruins. And Toriel has the nerve to hold Asgore’s sins over his head while she basically handed all those kids over to him when she could have escorted those kids and reasoned with Asgore. If she stayed initially she probably would have talked him out of it

And yet everyone loves Toriel in the fandom, they give her a free pass and dump everything on Asgore

First post is here! Please note y/n and Flowey aren't actually involved in the general "Clover gets stuck in the pizzaplex" thing and are entirely optional depending on how you wanna view it. If Clover survives the pizzaplex they get adopted by y/n (blah blah legal adoption shit), if they die they just kinda. Well they're dead.

Please note I do not condone or support Scott Cawthon and his opinions or politics. Anybody who tries to argue with me or say I support him will be blocked.

Scattered thoughts about the AU in the read more below, they won't be organized very well sorry.

*When clover gets stuck in the Pizzaplex the first boss they have to deal with is Martlet. They kite her around before getting her to ram into a fuse box causing her systems to restart and the anti virus to work again.

*Clover is a big fan of the Wild West area of the pizzaplex and thinks North Star is super cool. So they ask Martlet to help them get there because in this childs brain of COURSE the Sheriff would know what to do and how to help!

*North Star genuinely does his best to help Clover but eventually gets attacked by another animatronic that messes up his system. He tries to kill Clover but with Martlet's help they both end up resetting his systems back to default.

*Guardner watches over the Pizzaplex's greenhouse area (Its my au and I want the pizzaplex to be as unhinged as the Mall of America so fuck you if you hate it I think its neat). Gaurdner isn't infected with the virus and just wants Clover dead because they accidentally broke a flower stem and she is SO TIRED of kids NOT RESPECTING THE RULES. They are banned from the Greenhouse forever (but not really let her calm down and she'll reverse it).

*The Feisty Four are now the bandits for the wild west area! Moray was originally from one of Foxy's attractions but was repurposed. Ed is the boss bandit with the other three basically acting as background characters for hijinks. The kids who visit the Wild West area of the pizzaplex are considered the Sheriff's deputies.

*Axis is a staff bot and he is very stubborn when it comes to his job. Yes he will still fall in love with a trash heap tho. Let my guy live a little damn.

*Y/n primarily works on the Wild West area bots and is constantly getting on North Star's case about his wires getting messed up. North Star constantly deals with scolding from y/n and barbs from Flowey.

*Y/n takes Flowey with them almost everywhere in the pizzaplex. He tends to swear at others so they decided it was safer if they could just carry him around and take him away from people.

*North Star was ECSTATIC to learn his favorite mechanic adopted his favorite Deputy. He constantly begs to be able to babysit Clover.

*North Star has a prior companionship to Sun and Moon, as they were all formerly theater bots. North Star however got the better end of the deal as he still gets to act in front of others.

*Martlet constantly sneaks food to Chica when nobody is looking. They're besties.

The Afterparty AU is briefly summarized as taking place in a party within the void, lasting forever after a genocide route that was never undone. After many months of nothing but wind, our first fallen human realized the world was not going to be reverted by the player, and they stayed true to their word of Erasure. Chara however, simply getting bored decides to play a game framed as a experiment & brings back all the monsters you failed to befriend in a Genocide route back for a encore. Allowing everyone to reside in the void, a space between files & between deltarune and UNDERTALE. The amount of monsters that are happy about this is uncertain, but all of them are certainly questioning literally everything that brought them here.  (Lightly Inspired by these fanworks so, Thanks to @garbagechocolate, @djsmell & @jazze-bee for accidentally inspiring me to make a whole AU)

The significance of 9, 99, and 999 in Asriel’s letter

Or: a disjointed analysis of Chara’s obsession with power vs. Asriel’s obsession with friendship and novelty.

Disclaimer: I haven’t played the game in a while, so some of the information may be misremembered. I tried my best using clips/screenshots for reference.

Disclaimer 2: I am also a Chara sympathizer!!!!! I changed the wording a bit to reflect this.

Chara loved the number 9 because they believed that in reaching the highest number, they’d become invincible. It’s implied in-game that Chara didn’t have a good past with the humans, so when they fell into the underground, the concepts of being safe and having power were likely novel experiences to them. They found comfort in the finality of “making it to the top” and staying there.

(Asriel was just happy to have a friend.)

Chara used to fill up their glass to the brim. Not necessarily because they were all that thirsty, but because it was “the most efficient way” to do things. Asriel followed their lead.

(There was a lot of spilled water in the house.)

Chara, regardless of if their motivations were altruistic, neutral, or vengeful, wasn’t fully satisfied with their life in the underground at some point towards the end. They utilized the influence they had over Asriel to strong-arm him into a plan he voiced becoming uncomfortable with on a couple different occasions.

(He recorded the two of them talking about their plan. He kept the lens cap on by accident at first. Then on purpose. Then, when he took it off, Chara instructed him to turn off the camera.)

Asriel valued having Chara in his life. The thought of his friendship with Chara having a an expiration date was terrifying to him. He decided somewhere along the way that if he wanted to hold on to every single good memory they shared, he’d need to ensure he had enough space for them.

Asriel’s “highest number” in the letter went from 99 to 999 in the same letter. Maybe he could just keep adding more 9s to his memory counter. Maybe if he didn’t keep an eye on the numbers, he could stay with Chara forever…

(When Asriel didn’t do what Chara said— when Asriel said he didn’t want to kill the humans on the surface, Chara tried to take control. They couldn’t compromise on what they wanted. It killed both of them.)

Asriel later gained the power to reset. He couldn’t feel anything for anyone anymore, but out of curiosity, he tried every combination of actions available.

It became boring. He wanted more. He wanted Chara.

If he squinted his eyes really hard, he could pretend that YOU were Chara.

In the normal ending fight with Asriel, his stats became infinite. You felt the space in your inventory becoming smaller and smaller, filled with “Last dreams.”

(Through determination, the dream came true. You were able to heal yourself. Nothing could hurt you anymore. You were invincible.)

He still wanted to defeat you. He still wanted control. He still wanted to reset and bring all of your memories back to zero. He told you that determination, the power that let you get this far, was going to be your downfall.

(It was for him, after all.)

Yet as the player, you were still able to come back from death, so long as you stayed determined. It frustrated him. He told you he was fighting to keep Chara around because he cared about them.

He told you he didn’t want this to end. He told you he didn’t want to say goodbye.

When he became a monster again, he made a choice of his own: he wanted to break the barrier and let everyone to free.

(He sacrificed his own happiness to let everyone else be free. He accepted that he needed to let go. He accepted that you need to continue on in the timeline without him.)

Still, you as the player have the option to undo all that progress, if you feel the desire to. Just like Flowey, you can start seeing experiences and friendships as just numbers too.

On the neutral/pacifist run, Chara never fought for control over the player. But once you started killing in the genocide, they gained power and sought to use it by the end of the story.

In the genocide route, Flowey begged Chara to let him help. He thought up a plan to go to the surface and then live there. He was tired of the resets. He wanted stability with the one person he found interesting.

And then that person killed him.

Unlike Asgore in the scene before, there were no 9s above Flowey’s head when he died.

(I’m not 100% sure of the implications there, but it feels like a loaded detail, now.)

At the end of the genocide run, Chara wants to be your partner now. They have you trapped in the void. If you don’t do what they say, you’ll be stuck here forever.

If you want to keep playing the game, you have to agree. They kill you. Your screen floods with more 9s than you can count.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Chara’s next goal could be to conquer YOU.

(But. No one can hurt anyone anymore)

Chara’s next goal may just be to stop you.

But again: Overall, YOU still have the power to reopen the game. YOU have the power to play around with everyone’s lives. No matter how much control the kids fight for, they’re at YOUR mercy, at the end of the day.

(There’s a highest number for you, too, though, isn’t there? Eventually, you’ll get bored and turn off the game.)

But maybe not. You can always turn on the computer again and meet with Flowey at the beginning, like nothing ever happened.

Maybe Flowey was right when he said that determination would be your downfall.

i love how flowey and sans are polar opposites but are also very similar when you look closer.

flowey tries to kill you immediately upon meeting you. sans never fights you unless you kill everyone else

asriel dreemurr has infinite ATK and infinite DEF. sans has 1 ATK and 1 DEF.

it is impossible to die against asriel. it is very easy to die against sans

flowey is extremely emotive and can do all kinds of stuff with his face. sans always has a grin on his face no matter what

your first impression of flowey is a friendly, helpful guy. flowey is actually a threat. your first impression of sans is a threat. sans is actually a funny, friendly guy.

flowey remembers absolutely everything you do. sans remembers nothing, not even deja vu.

sans wants to enjoy a simple life with bad jokes. flowey went insane from boredom

the entire omega flowey fight is flowey's turn. sans's last attack makes it his turn forever

both of them are incredibly nihilistic, and said nihilism basically dictates all their actions

both have a past that they can't return to.

both think their siblings are the coolest person ever.

both care about their siblings more than anyone in the world.

You know, something that could cheer you up.

She shrugs, fidgeting with her scarf a little.

She looks away when she says that, slightly cringing.

-don't know much when it comes to comforting people. Or.. specifically, you, for that matter. So..

Her eyes trail back to his, hesitant.

Do you want anything? Anything at all.

How familiar. Just the same at Pressure, hm?

Asriel: No one knows who I am besides Frisk and Papyrus. Papyrus surprisingly took it pretty well. He still treats me the same and never told anyone, which is rare if we’re talking secrets with him. But I know not everyone is the same.

They’ll make a big fuss, try to get me back, ask everything and I’ll have to lie about all I did as a flower which is a secret that will weigh on me forever because I know they’d hate me and their hopes would be crushed so I’ll have to lie and then they’ll want me to be the prince of the underground again with all the responsibility of being the “hope for all monsters” put back on my shoulders but I don’t know how to help them any better than dad.

I’ve had this evil, horrible plan to use frisk on their perfect runs to become a god. I was going to take everyone’s souls plus the human souls, getting them from Asgore through Frisk and then torture them for eternity and reshape the world how I want it. I couldn’t do that now. Even if I don’t hurt Frisk and I use that power to break the barrier, won’t everyone still hate me for tricking them and manipulating their souls like that?

Or I could stay here, at the flower bed, hiding my face for however much longer. I don’t know what to do. It feels nice to build this new perfect life, but it’s fake, isn’t it? I’m not Flowey. You aren’t my real family. But I want it so bad. I love it here, but I shouldn’t.

I don't know. I should go back into reality. How do even I do that? I don't know how to reintroduce myself, and I don't want leave you all behind but it feels like I'm betraying my real family if I keep replacing them. I know what that feels like. And I'm sorry.

I actually believe that having a soul wasn't the thing that f*cked up Flowey. I feel more that his "I don't feel anything" is more a feeling that he has since he is not as happy and cheerful like the other monsters that are terribly optimistic. Seriously. These guys are stuck in a mountain forever and they still have a ridiculously high hope that their king will get them out without starting a war or something. It's more a result of unresolved trauma that nobody seems to get that actual. Not feeling emotions.

TLDR: Picture Flowey like the meme of the guy carrying pizza and the flames/people causing panic are "Living in a toxic positivity place+unresolved trauma+nobody here can help me+I am not like my old self anymore I must be wrong+My house life literally fell apart".
