An indulgence from the group drawing session this afternoon. I've always loved Kuno (obviously), but looking up reference pics of him a while back led me to a Reddit post asking "How would the story change if Kuno was the main love interest instead of Akane?" and this question has haunted my dreams ever since. "Ranma 1/2, but Kuno's love confession to him in femme form makes Ranma realizes he's gay and/or trans" would be SUCH a fun, interesting, soap-opera-y queer romcom (and a harem parody, if Ranma's into guys but is still constantly pursued by a bunch of girls XD )

What's your headcanon of the tbhk cast? If you don't have any headcanon for them then what's your favorite part of the tbhk characters?

Hmmm……. I don't have any headcanon (at least that I can remember so far XD) but, one thing I like about the characters in general is how they are so fragile and at the same time strong. None of them are unbreakable or too fragile.

Something more humanized, even among supernatural beings. Weaknesses and strengths that make sense, that have a reason (I love how Aidairo is so detailed about everything).

Everyone has a weak point that they are forced to face and evolve (even if it takes time), I like it even more when they make mistakes more than once, as if they didn't accept it at first and kept the habit, until something bigger hits them so hard that they are forced to learn - even though they ran away from it for a long time.

Besides, showing that this learning was difficult, but necessary, is wonderful. Changes are like that, it's never easy, and many times we insist on not believing that we need to evolve.

The fact that the characters fall makes me have more empathy for them. Seeing Teru finally fall and show his most fragile side was spectacular, him realizing and learning that he can't be the hero all the time and that he won't always be able to save someone.

And if this has happened before (maybe he couldn't save his mother and decided to become the hero for his brothers) he has now learned (or is in the process of learning) that that is still not the right path.

We are seeing Nene realize only now that she allowed herself to be used by boys just because of their looks. We have Akane, Aoi, Kou. They are all still learning, and seeing that is wonderful.

Don't get me wrong, but I like it when the author follows the natural flow of failure and error, that there are no people who are always strong or always and exclusively fragile.

Ranma 1/2 Reboot 01x12 - Shampoo Cleans Up

Effortless.

Yeah, that checks out. My vague and fuzzy memories of the manga from decades ago tell me that Shampoo is the strongest of the female martial artists in the series. Between the main four ladies (Akane, Shampoo, Ukyo, and Kodachi), I'm pretty sure Shampoo is the gold medal when it comes to a straight fight.

With Ukyo taking the title of quirkiest fighter.

Shampoo's ability to inflict extremely selective amnesia is such a potent fucking gaslighting of an ability to have. This might be the scariest superpower in the entire series. She can unperson you to the people you love.

I love how much fun this series has with Genma's dumbass signs. XD

Can you imagine showing up to a fight and this is what you're watching? XD

The thing that's great about this twist is that. Like. It's in the name. She's called Shampoo. You didn't think personal grooming products were going to be involved in this arc?

Shampoo has the ability to manipulate people's memories and selectively remove individual pieces she doesn't want them to recall, all through the movement of her fingers as she washes their hair. This is so goddamn cool.

Amazon martial arts are built different.

They played off Akane trying to remember Ranma earlier as a joke, but her jealous outburst here is our first serious hint that the memory is still in there somewhere. It's just buried deep.

Ranma, why did you think this would work?

Like. There's a legitimate reason why this was doomed from the get-go.

He's trying to restore her memories using the Memory Erasure Shampoo, and not the Memory Restoration Shampoo. This was never going to work.

But also, even if it did work like this? Ranma. Ranma. Buddy. You don't know the technique. It's not just magic memory shampoo; There's also pressure points and stuff involved. See?

It's a martial art that requires specific training to learn how to do. Randomly futzing about with Akane's brain isn't helping. You might have just rinsed the ability to do algebra out of her! Go to the Shame Corner!

I've said it before, but Ranma's got it baaaaaaaad for Akane. He hasn't even gone back to China to find a cure for his curse. There is one! He could literally just return to Jusenkyo and get fixed! But it hasn't been worth the trouble.

Gender dysphoria isn't enough of a reason to go back to China. But this? Akane having the memory of him specifically wiped from her brain? This is enough to send him back to China. This matters more than being comfortable in his own body.

Well, second-best but my fave probably isn't going to debut until like episode 43 if the series even survives Netflix's routine cancellation policies. It's not safe to be a show on this network.

Look, you can't blame me for forgetting that this is still a plot point. Ranma forgot too and it's literally happening to him as we speak!

You know, this is one case where you really can't blame Ranma for not coming clean about his curse. If Shampoo knew, it's literally a coin flip whether she'd decide to keep the Kiss of Death or Amazon Engagement. I don't think the Amazon rulebook has any official guidance for a situation like this.

Right now, the only reason she isn't gunning for his throat is because she thinks he's a different person from the Ranma she must kill. If she finds out? Hell, she might just do both. Marry and kill him. The Junko Enoshima solution!

I get a kick out of it every time someone calls Ranma a bakemono.

She's not entirely wrong. XD

I mean. She makes a compelling argument. I can't really find a fault in that logic.

I need you to know that Ranma goes so hard to sell this illusion that he uses the pronoun あたし atashi. This is the feminine version of the pronoun 私 watashi, used pretty much exclusively by girls.

And he rolls so high on this Diplomacy check that even Genma is fooled. (Which lands even harder for manga fans who already know about the deal Genma made with Ranma's mom.)

Ok so this Au is a TeruNene Au (shhh bc I love them) I said before that I started getting huge ideas from some art I saw for this though and my brain FR took off!! XD

Idk how much you know about Miraculous so bare with me-

Ok so Teru is Adrian (I feel like this makes sense) they actually have pretty similar characters tho ofc different but similar enough that it fits actually pretty well!

Unlike actual Miraculous we won't be focusing on Teru's family dynamic a lot- I haven't thought a lot about it but assume a similar dynamic to in canon (his father being mostly absent and being basically a prodigy ect-) I feel like he fits almost perfectly for Adrian's role especially Cat Noir-

Adrian feeling more free from his "perfect" family image as Cat Noir is perfect for Teru! And Teru can 100% capture Cat Noir's og sass and jokes- so he's perfect!!

In terms of roll no- Kou has no major roll in this Au (sorry guys) ofc if I where to make a fic or comics he would be in them when Teru's about but for already existing character roles in the og show he won't be getting one- he will still be in it tho but I don't intend to make him a Miraculous holder-

Ok Nene!! This one I'm very excited about hehe she's ofc Marinette! I also feel she's a perfect fit! There both looking for romance but come from pretty normal families (compared to Teru and Adrian) so she's perfect!!!

Ok so here's the part I'm excited about and it's Amane- I'm sure you noticed his role his Hawk Moth and I'm sure some people would be like- "wait but Hawk Moth is meant to be related to Adrian but if Teru's Cat Noir he's not related to Amane at all??" Well here's where I stray a bit from the og show- Hawk Moth is gonna be more connected to Nene then Teru- I wanted to keep the fact that Hawk Moth was some how related to one of the main two but I really wanted to have Amane be Hawk Moth (I did think of Kou for a second but dropped the idea pretty quickly) soooooo Hawk Moth is gonna be Nene's thing instead of Teru's!!

He's the teacher in there shared class (I forgot the original girls name but he will be taking her roll) this way he's directly involved with the cast and especially Nene!

The dynamic is like a student kinda having a crush on there teacher sort of thing (no Amane will NOT be romantically involved with Nene in this Au specifically bc this Amane is an adult and Nene is a minor. Sorry HanaNene fans not this time-) for this I kinda think Nene has like- a trusted teacher relationship with Amane and kinda vents to him indirectly about being a super hero- I wanna keep Marinette's struggle with being a super hero and it being very stressful for a teen for Nene and Amane is some what her support (tho ofc she doesn't tell him straight up she's a super hero but she indirectly vents about it a bit to him-)

I wanna give Adrian's major plot break (finding out his dad is Hawk Moth) to Nene instead I'm this Au instead of Teru-

As for Teru's major break?...haha...I think you already know what I have planned to tie into this Au for Teru ^^

I actually want Kou's death from chp120 to tie into Cat Blank for Teru in this Au!

Idk if you're familiar with Cat Blank but it's an evil version of Cat Noir! (I forgot how to spell what Hawk Moth does to people...ummm-) but I want this to basically be a huge back fire for Amane trying to make Teru (aka Cat Noir) evil- he will kill Kou as a way to make Teru's mentality waver and he will try and turn him but it will back fire HORRIBLY for Amane-

And that's where I'll tie in Teru losing it with Amane in the actual Manga

As for Nene- when all this is happening (very fast too-) with the fact that her trusted teacher killed a classmate and friend of hers and is the villain they've been fighting this whole time this will be where Akane has a bigger role!!

In the Og episode of Cat Blank The Rabbit makes an appearance to fix the mess that was that world with Cat Blank in it-

The Rabbits ability is to go through time and it was perfect for Akane!

Akane will make an appearance during this to drag Nene away and fix this mess- much like in the actual manga rn!

This is all I have rn- I have some other ideas that are smaller- (like Aoi being the Fox Miraculous holder- very fitting I think ^^) and just some cute ideas for TeruNene in this Au as well but these where my major ideas bc I really wanted to tie in chp120 to it bc again my brain FR took off!! XD
