BL ships that I will never forget:

In a few weeks it's gonna be 14 years of obsessing over queer media, especially BL, so here are the ships always on my mind in no particular order.

Arata & Shingyouji (Takumi-kun Series 4: Pure, 2010): Listen the Takumi-kun Series from 2007 to like 2011 was my life as a (pre-)teen. In hindsight really sketchy but anyway haha. Those two really caught my eye back then though (especially their racy kisses) and I was happy they got their own bigger part in one of the movies.

Evan & Isak (Skam Season 3, 2016): Was there a queer European teen that wasn't obsessed with this season of Skam? I remember re-watching it so many times I could recite their text without speaking Norwegian. Plenty of beautiful Skam universe parallel couples out there but these two will remain the iconic blueprint.

ChenAi (Kiseki: Dear to me, 2023): Almost unfair to put them on here but seeing how I haven't been able to think about any other ship every single day for the last 3 months, I feel like it's justified. They just have everything I want and need to get hyperfixated on.

Seiryo & Yuzuru (Seven Days, 2015): Oh my, the way I loved this silly concept and how funny it was yet they managed to get me all emotionally involved in the span of two movies? Insane chemistry and just..everything I needed back then. Especially since it was then one of the very few BL's I saw without a sad ending.

KornKnock (Bad Romance 2016, Together With Me 2017 - 2018): Listen, plot wise Manner of Death is the absolute height to me but when it comes to MaxTul I will never forget them as Korn and Knock in these series. Forever grateful to all the fanvids that led me to finding my BL fathers. Chemistry forever out of this world. Also shout out to Yiwha, best female character in any BL and my wife.

WinTeam (Until We Meet Again 2019, Between Us 2023): The couple that made me aware of what second lead syndrome was because I waited so long for more of them, it felt eternal. I don't think I will ever get tired of these two.

VegasPete (KinnPorsche, 2022): Who said I couldn't like a toxic ship? These two took me by surprise, I didnt even know they were going to be a ship in the series. Definitely acknowledging how fucked up they are yet at the same time it's the forst toxic ship that really got me. I love them, in my own weird way.

HaoGu (HIStory 3: Make Our Days Count, 2019): I mourned them like I have mourned no other couple. I should have known from the title but they really lead me astray. My beautiful boys, the star crossed lovers. They still get me emotional now, I might go cry now.

Hira & Kiyoi (Utsukushii Kare, 2021 - 2023): Before ChenAi there were Hira and Kiyoi who absolutely owned my heart. I love how misunderstood by BL fans they were who claimed their toxicity. Meanwhile I simply love how weird their relationship is and getting to see a real Tsundere in action. I'm obsessed with them.

Honourable Mention: Kim Jae Wook as Min Sun Woo in Antique Bakery, 2008. The very first gay character I saw in Korean media. Forever iconic, forever in my heart.

To The Last Year...

Well, we went from Absolute Zero to Beyond The Stars this year but that's not to say we aren't in the House of Stars where I Feel You Linger In The Air. We all said Be My Favorite because I'm a Cutie Pie 2 You and want a Dangerous Romance and a chance to Hit Bite Love in our Individual Circumstances while being a Destiny Seeker and Crazy Handsome Rich (we wish). But now it's time to look to the Future and say Be Mine Superstar while letting go of our Hidden Agenda and looking for A Shoulder To Cry On and a Happy Merry Ending. We followed all the Laws of Attraction and rode on the Love Tractor and took Love Class (2) and discovered Love In Translation on the way. The Promise that we made over Our Dating Sim left us Star Struck for My Personal Weatherman on The Day I Love You. Everything set off The Eighth Sense while we ate Moonlight Chicken and saw Venus in the Sky when we looked up. We shared Our Dining Table and said Bake Me Please when we felt A Breeze of Love and called out Bon Appetit with the occasional Naked Dining. Some people tried All The Liquors to go with our stories while others just listened to Low Frequency and visited the Midnight Museum or went to Home School with My Dear Gangster Oppa. There was a Tokyo in April as there always is and someone told Our Story (very badly) but we embraced the Dinosaur Love and tied up our Chains of Heart for out One Room Angel. We drank The Luminous Solution and discovered The Middleman's Love. A lot of people said Oh No! Here Comes Trouble and were right but winter kind of forgot about Jack o' Frost this year. There were so many kinds of Love Mate and Fake Love and Friends Forever. But, in the end, I just want to say to everyone here who has ever enjoyed my meta or gifs or jokes... You Are Mine but also Why R U? and feel free to make Wedding Plans but I'll only show up for the food. You might want to Tie The Knot but I've still got Love Syndrome III and there is no cure, not even a Marry Go Round. Just don't say I Cannot Reach You, instead say If It's With You. So cheer Tim Tem Jai and reach out to grab A Boss and A Babe for the party and let's make A Story To Remember again this year! We'll Jun & Jun to our destination and leave behind the Past-senger. What if in another universe Babe meets Charlie way earlier, while they were still orphans at the foundation, how what this change things?

I am writing this inspired by all the Pete/Way/Kenta past interactions speculations.

To those who saw Kiseki Dear To Me Ai Di/Chen Yii vibes, but without all the unrequited love misunderstanding part. Babe knows from the beginning Charlie is his mate even if he is too young to understand what that really means.

Babe is eleven and Charlie is six here, I totally made it up so it probably does not reflect how it is in canon.

A Different Start

Babe was living at the foundation for a few years now and he knew it was not the best place to live but at least he had a rough under his head, clothes, food and Tony would reward him with gifts and benefits if he worked hard in improving his abilities. 

He knew he was lucky to have known his superpower and that other kids were not much so, he could hear the cries of others in the rooms. It used to bother him a lot when he first moved but he learned to block them by now, he did not really interact with any of them since most kids are kept apart. Only the kids that do not know their abilities are put together sometimes to see if they trigger each other's power.

That would all change that day, his acceptance of this situation, his indifference for the others,  he just didn’t not know it yet, an core event that would lead to a chain reaction that would completely change the direction his life was heading towards. In another universe this event only happens in later in his life, but in this one, one of Tony’s employees is to slow in leading on of the crying children back to their room and Babe path crosses with one of them, but this was just not any kid, and while he usually look forward and ignore it when that happened this time was different.

The smell makes him stop, in a house full of Alpha retching smell everywhere or sometimes omegas sickening sweet ones, this one was just so good and drowned all the others. Once the sense was on, the others came back in and he heard the piercing cry of the child screaming like there was no tomorrow. It hurt his ears. He turned to look at it and realized the smell came from him. He was a small child who could not have been more than 5 or 6 years old.

The child full of tears turned to look at him and then his alpha was right awake and roared clearly in his head: Yours, protect. Babe did not know what that was about, his alpha did not talk much with him until this day but he was told to always listen to his instincts.

- I’m Babe. What 's your name?

- Charlie.

- Why are you crying?

- I don’t want to go back to my room, I don't want to be locked in there again.

He could see that Tony’s guards were lost in what to do in this situation, Babe was known to be Tony’s favorite and that did allow him to have some perks that other children did not.

The commotion got Tony’s attention and he approached the children, suddenly having an idea he asked Tony.

- Dad, you told me I could ask for something for my hard work on training, I want him.

He could see Tony was intrigued in his sudden interest in another child, one so much younger than him at that.

- I don’t know Babe, Charlie is an orphan at the foundation and a very misbehaved one.

He knew exactly what Tony meant by that, he meant that Charlie had not displayed any powers yet and was most likely being punished for it like the other children in this situation and right there he knew exactly what to say to convince Tony.

- Maybe I can help him be better behaved.

Tony was indeed very intrigued to his favorite most powerful adopted special Alpha sudden interest on this child, Babe did have heightened senses, maybe he sensed something in the other Tony did not, so he decides to play along and see what happens. 

So, that day Charlie was moved to live in Babe’s room with him and that changed everything.

my god i am so sorry it took this long for me to answer this!! ya girl has been super busy and exhausted from life tbh. but i am finally back home and trying to catch up with all the things i need to do ;-; starting with this ask!

i only have music from the following animes: demon slayer, my hero academia, attack on titan, jujutsu kaisen, assassination classroom, mashle, paradox live (unfortunately 😵‍💫). i have the opening theme of my happy marriage and the instrumental of the ending but i feel like that barely counts. some of the ones i have from demon slayer are like instrumental/characters theme covers that other people make cause i don't think the official ost is released on spotify and any osts uploaded on youtube get taken down sooner or later 😔 (mugen train i'm referring to you 😩 you didn't ask but i have so many favs from the ost [tracks 21 {tanjiro vs. enmu}-25, 27-30, 32-33 {rengoku vs. akaza}])

currently only 36 songs in my weeb playlist, but there are definitely songs i know that i just haven't saved! either cause i don't like it enough to save or cause i don't actively think about saving anime music when i initially hear it lol :") or cause it's not on spotify and i'm too lazy to download locally. i only saved a bunch of MHA stuff recently because you sent me that ask about it a while ago LMAO

i wish i could pull together my own spotify wrapped-esque graphics since this year's sucked BALLS (i heard they laid off a bunch of their staff and used ai for the wrapped this year. ugh). but for the stats themselves, looks like songs (lyrics) vs. instrumentals/themes (no lyrics) is split ~60/40. some of these songs with lyrics i would definitely forfeit for the instrumentals if were actually on spotify (e.g. some of the paralive stuff... the rapping is sooo cringe but the beats are sooo good 😭)

Translation notes:

The title (and chorus) of this song "ai rabu iu" is a play on words- "ai" is the Japanese word for love, "rabu" is the English word "love", and then "iu" sounds like "you" in English, but it's also the Japanese verb "to say".

So "ai rabu iu" sounds like the English phrase "I love you", but the "iu" portion is written with the kanji for "to say". Thus it's like "I'll say I love (you)" (subjects are naturally omitted from Japanese so this makes sense for Japanese listeners even though the object "you" technically isnt there).

It also literally is like "love love I'll say". lol. god

Now we start in the present and work back. Hsu Kai's character is no longer in the band, but it's unclear why, so Sam's character is hella moody and depressed in the present when the band is tasked with playing backup for a singer, and he argues with the band, especially Kim Jae's character about a member missing.

He goes back to his apartment after the argument and is seen with this guitar which he keeps in his closet.

And we find out it was Hsu Kai's!

When Sam's character looks at the guitar case in the present, it has a note that says "I'll wait for you" with a key in it, and he starts to cry.

This is where it gets murky. Sam's mom did not approve of him being in the band in the past, so he stayed with Hsu Kai.

They did not get along because they originally met during a street fight, but after a bit, they get along well. One day, Sam was listening to a song that Hsu Kai's character wrote, and I think he figured out that Hsu Kai liked him. Like liked him liked him. (But this is murky!)

So he ran away.

Hsu Kai's character was upset, so he sent Sam's character an SOS text, which he would do when he was feeling depressed (and close to harming himself), so Sam ran over, but homeboy was fine and was just upset that Sam was avoiding him. Sam leaves again and says he is quitting the band because Hsu Kai doesn't take shit seriously.

At their next gig, Hsu Kai's confronts him and tells Sam's character that quitting the band is bullshit, and Sam tells Hsu Kai that Hsu Kai is only doing it all for the money and fans and not for the music since he thinks everything is a joke. He also tells him that if he keeps going like this, he'll die once the money and fame run out since that seems to be all he is living for. Shit is intense and the chemistry is sizzling!

They part ways on the worst terms.

Sam goes back to work at the music store he worked at before, but Hsu Kai keeps calling him and texting him. Sam doesn't answer, so finally Hsu Kai sends an "SOS" text to which Sam tells him to stop playing mean tricks.

Not a mean trick.

And now we come back to the argument Sam and Kim Jae's character were having in the present because in the past, Kim hadn't heard from Hsu Kai, so he called Sam knowing he had a key to his place so they could check on him

And Kim Jae's character notices that the money has run out.

And both realize that Hsu Kai's character is gone because remember what Sam told him - You'll die when the money runs out.

In the present, Sam's character is DEPRESSED after seeing the guitar and knowing that Hsu Kai's character didn't want the money but just wanted to be with him.

It's not looking good, folks!

But after an alarming call with him, the band sends one of the main characters to go check on him, and he lets it all out by stating there is a thin line between a birthday and a death day (so I think Hsu Kai's died on his birthday pero no se).

The main character tells him he doesn't have to get over it, but he does have to get through it, and we see him play what I think is the song Hsu Kai's character wrote to him when he figured out he was in love with him.

And he lives to be a jerk to another employee.

Once again, I could be dead ass wrong, but between Google translate and the smoking chemistry between the two, this is what I got.

Also, there are some other BL actors in there like Prince Chiu who played the teacher in Unknown and who is Chris Chiu's biological brother, who is the lead in Unknown.

Either way, the cafe became like a second home to you, heroes coming and going all the time and the pay was good. It truly was an incredible experience. 

And then he came it. Ash blond hair unruly and ruby eyes piercing. He sat down at the front bar, giving you a chance to swallow and adjust your apron. 

To be fair, on his part, Katsuki hadn’t expected anything new or even eye catching when he first walked into the cafe. Kirishima had told him about it and he had nowhere better to be for his lunch break so here he was.

When he first entered, he was hit full force with such a delicious vanilla scent he nearly drooled. 

He took it as the cafe, but his alpha demanded that he find the source anyway. So he figured that the best way to do that was by sitting at the bar. 

And then the scent came closer.

It was about two weeks before your due date when Katsuki came in, banged up but smiling nonetheless at the look you gave him, quickly pressing a kiss to his cheek before moving on to get the next costumers food. He smiled before settling down on his seat, slowly taking of his jacket. 

He shot up though the minute he heard plates crashing, a pained chirp coming from where he last saw you.

Snapping around his gut dropped as you were knelt on the ground, clutching your stomach as another chirp left you. 

He was by your side withing seconds, letting you clutch his hand as he barked out orders to fellow heroes that were in the vicinity 

Almost immediately you were in the back of an ambulance, Katsuki beside you, whining as you chirped and winced in distress, obviously in pain. 

The wheeled you into the delivery room quickly, barely giving you the opportunity to grab Katsuki’s hand

“Ma’am, is he the father of the child or your husband?”

“AH- Yes... Yes! He’s both- GOD- whatever it takes- holy shit, this hurts- I need him by my side!” 

His eyes meet yours, wincing at the tears in your eyes.

“That’s if he wants to-”

“Damn right! That’s my omega and I’ll be damned if she has to go through this alone!”

And he stuck to his word, never leaving your side throughout the entire delivery and even after. 

He sat with you as you held your baby boy, cooing into your ear as he nuzzled into your neck. 

He could tell you were upset with your litter only being one pup, but Katsuki would be damned if this pup wasn’t the most gorgeous pup he’s ever seen. And he told you the moment he was passed to him in the delivery, watching you as you watched him with a tired smile.

honestly that one post about “if you ever listened to those [extremely popular songs] you have elite taste” list is living in my mind rentfree because man the confidence for that 

and it made me think about what would be the songs i’d put in my personal list for this (not sure i’d disclose it but it’s fun to think about)

and i’m trying to think about my fav D’espairsRay song to put in such list and just relistening to a few, the weird piano moment in Abel and Cain, the violon and vampire aesthetic of Marry of the Blood (and the fact it was my real first fav song of them), and just the fact Yami ni Furu Kiseki always make me cry and, whatever the fuck is happening in Reddish (cw: throbbing lights and lowkey (?)disturbing imagery), means that i would be forced to put those three in my fav list

and it is making me laugh because it’s already a niche band and my favorite songs are even nicher songs they made.
