sorry i know hatred is bad for my heart but i can’t stop thinking abt the person who randomly showed up on my isabelle lightwood post to tell me how much they hate book!isabelle because she’s so toxic and her relationship with simon is so awful. first of all when did i ask. second of all what the hell are you talking about. this is the incest series. every single major character in this universe has done something heinous to their significant other. isabelle is quite literally one of the only members of the main cast who hasn’t engaged in some kind of fauxcest so by that standard alone she is already head and shoulders above her brothers + clary. i joke a lot about isabelle and simon matching each other’s freak but like they have the most normal relationship in maybe all of tsc BY FAR; they hang out/date for months before they start throwing around ‘i love you’s and are the only tmi couple with explicitly shared interests/hobbies.

also isabelle is pretty consistently the only one of the main 6 not actively hating/having major personal drama with another one of the main 6 (except, y’know, when simon literally CHEATS ON HER, which she gets over pretty quickly all things considered). she very clearly doesn’t like clary in city of bones but sucks it up for jace’s sake and helps her get ready for magnus’s party anyway (even when it’s clear that clary Does Not Like her). like yeah compared to a normal person she is toxic and has some unhealthy perspectives. however compared to her peers she is literally the only person with any kind of interpersonal skills whatsoever. arguably she has better social skills than clary and clary actually grew up around more than 2 people her own age. and also it might help to remember she’s a 16 year old girl . not to pull the misogyny card or anything but literally what the hell did book isabelle do wrong to some of you people other than…flirt with boys + enjoy wearing makeup

That ask about Jace’s kids made me laugh I feel like his kids would have a jar for him to put money in whenever he’s too cocky, kinda like New Girl with Schmidt

simon and izzy are the go-to babysitter couple of the bunch for sure, given that they aren't running an institute or, you know, the entire clave. they're also the most likely to have a movie or game night, which the kids absolutely love

because the cousins span over a decade in ages, there seems to always be a baby to hold, and clary is always the first one to reach for them (followed by alec)

jace is stricter as a father than might be expected. not in a harsh way, but in a protective way. in a 'i want you to learn how best protect yourself and your family' way. he's definitely a teacher, in a very physical way, and loves spending time in the training room with his kids and niblings (not that this makes him any more mature or less ridiculous at his core hehe)

creativity and expression are very well supported by all members of the tmi gang, and their children develop a good amount of confidence when it comes to being themselves and not necessarily folding into shadowhunter (or warlock) norms

magnus loves taking the kids on adventures and showing them things they might never have gotten to see if they didn't have a very powerful warlock for an uncle, but he is also very protective, moreso than some of the other parents. he's seen too many people die to knowingly bear witness to human/shadowhunter recklessness in these kids he cares so much for

alec is the first one to suggest they let rafe go out on patrol, not without alec ofc. that first patrol is a fun one. jace is there too. he's muchhh less strict with his niblings than he is with his own kids, and he tends to treat them much more like how he treats kit. hence the fun hehe rafe has a blast, and the whole time alec's anxiety is through the roof.

all the cousins are scared of izzy's cooking. even if she's gotten better as the years have gone on, their parents have ingrained in them too much fear for the food she makes not to be wary when she holds out a wooden spoon with a questionable substance on it. usually the kids ask for pizza. or a delivery of chinese food (like parents like kids hehe)

104. I think what makes this scene so memorable is the fact that Magnus isn’t angry because he understands why Alec is choosing to marry Lydia- she’s great, nice, traditional- like Alec but he’s trying to get through to Alec that he doesn’t have to live a lie with someone he doesn’t love.

and we also have to keep in mind that Alec is used to putting himself and his feelings last. everything he does is for his family and being a shadowhunter with the expectations of his family and the clave. so it is probable that a part of him doesn’t believe he can be in love while being a shadowhunter. he never believed this was in the cards for him so marrying Lydia seems to be the sensible choice for Alec. and it’s not like we have seen or heard of many gay shadowhunters. the clave is so prejudiced against their own people. Alec has so many expectations on him and he was never told or shown that he could be in love, be gay, and be a shadowhunter. even telling Magnus in season two how he didn’t think he could have what he wanted

also funny when Simon is like they’re brother and sister so they can’t????? well if you are CC and have an incest fetish, they can do whatever the hell they want. so glad the show changed this 👏🏼
