Enough time has passed to where I think we can openly admit how WK has gone through seasonal rot within its previous 2 seasons and how the hype of Season 7 along with the generally positive reception is a really green flag for the show's quality.
#wild kratts#pbs kids#kratt brothers#martin kratt#chris kratt#pbs kids go#2d kratt brothers#2d martin kratt#2d chris kratt#because season 5 and 6 were.... not good to say the least#S5 took a hard plummet in quality after the Alaska special#Idk how to describe it but episodes felt more flat and basic more often than not despite there being several good ones in the mix too#S6 was slightly better but still felt more two-dimensional and basic and oddly oversaturated (and I don't just mean in the color palate)#I know Season 7's only been out for barely a year and we've only had 8-10 episodes released#But I do think that this season is substantially different than the previous two.#It feels a lot more experimental in its concepts whilst utilizing the show's strengths#Sometimes it works like with Clever the Raven or the Blue and Green special#Sometimes it doesn't like with the Mudskipper episode#But you can tell that they've some ideas in mind that you definitely wouldn't find in other seasons.#It genuinely makes me both curious and optimistic. Bc again it took 2 years to film this season.#There's definitely more time put into the writing process as earlier seasons.#I'm gonna hold some reservations until the season ends but it's shaping up to be pretty good so far.

Todays rip: 06/02/2024
He is Back.
Season 6 No Album Release (Read More)
Ripped by eg_9371
youtube
Requested by Alex Worm and an anonymous reader!
Hey, so, SiIva Team - what the fuck is the deal with the goat?
Like, SiIvaGunner hasn't exactly been a stranger to creepy rips, particularly during its early years. On *** EVERYTHING IS FINE ***, for instance, I talked about the legendary horror that rips of the game "Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race" have instilled into the audience thanks to just one rip back in Season 1, and we of course have Netyasha Roozi's excellent annual PlayStation Console BIOS rips of every Halloween, such as Play In MissingNo's Station. Yet, for as ominous and spooky as these rips are, I at least feel like I sort of GET them. Even four years on from its debut on the channel, I still don't know what the hell to make of "the standing goat".
Beginning with a rip of Cave Story's Mimiga Town theme back in Season 4 Episode 2, the confusion was immediately apparent - the 10 second video featured in the rip is from a moderately-popular Instagram post describing the goat statue's creepiness factor, and the song used is an arrangement of Pissy Pamper by Young Nudy and Playboi Carti - to my knowledge, with zero actual relation to one another. And sure, Mimigas in Cave Story are fuzzy little guys in an ominous world, that kind of befits the standing goat video - but the thing was, after this video's explosion in confusing reception, the goat just KEPT showing up. He would be recreated in different per-game artstyles like Deltarune and Ace Attorney, yet never properly...explained?
Yet, most bizarre of all, it seems as if for a small while the channel was playing at some sort of culmination to all of its buildup. During DJ Professor K's one-day takeover, an otherwise inconspicuous rip had the message "He is coming." hidden in its description - only for said rip to be followed up by Game Over/Password - Altered Beast, an arrangement of Pissy Pamper that effectively jumpscares you with the goat's presence by the end of it. The message hidden in its description? "He is here. Run.". And this Altered Beast rip was also part of an already-existing pattern with rips featuring the goat: "Memory", "Mysterious Crash", "Good Night", "Game Over" - several rips utilizing the creature seemed to explicitly be hinting at something far more ominous than what the video alone lets on.
Which brings us to the first true descent into this madness, one that stood out like nothing else quite did during Season 6's Halloween event: He is Back. In an event otherwise characterized by its lighthearted use of David S. Pumpkins, in-universe contextualized as little more than a fun halloween party, there's something yet more unsettling about the goat we've all been wondering about, reappearing in a rip that feels flat-out dangerous in atmosphere. The messages from the video description continue, this time saying - "Look behind you. I said, look behind you." - as if there's someone we aren't aware of attempting to save us from whatever this...creature is trying to achieve on the channel. Althewhile, the Pissy Pamper audio instrumental added on top makes what's otherwise primarily garbled noise from P.T.'s radio stations turn into a...surprisingly listenable, sort of glitch-hop-like banger?
The video end by leaving us with more questions than answers, as the video abruptly cuts to an error screen with the words "HE IS HERE" repeating over and over in many languages. And since He is Back's upload, we've...barely seen the goat anywhere. There's been yet one more possible development to his story, during Season 7's "The Cult of Proto" event, yet his fate and relevance to the channel remains as mysterious as it did many years ago.
For all that has and hasn't happened in the later Seasons of SiIvaGunner, I truly do love that mysteries like this still linger within the channel's mythos. And yeah, deep down I do know that these goat videos aren't meant to be amounting to anything bigger - they're just a silly, bizarre in-joke that's gradually taken on more and more creepy undertones. But there is something genuinely fun about that progression even having happened in the first place, isn't there? The goat could've easily just been left as one of many wacky out-of-nowhere jokes that Season 4s episodes debuted, yet he's been quietly sticking around, used by a small handful of rippers who seemingly have more in stock for the little guy than one would first think.
I, for one, welcome our good friend Billy with open arms.

Berlanti actually somehow manages to stay squeaky clean and smelling of roses when every single co-exec and co-producer he's worked with – Guggenheim, Kriesberg, Johns– have been outed as racists, exploiters, enablers and, in Kriesberg's case– serial sexual abusers. Idk if you have to have been in the DC Comics and DCTv fandoms to see how the actors of every show get beaten down for years, and follow the way each struggle to express themselves regarding it without completely nuking their careers due to Berlanti & Co.'s field of influence. So far Ruby Rose has been the only one who had enough clout on her own right to go public with it. Stephen Amell, the lead actor of the show that launched Berlanti Studios (who you'd think was enough of a Hollywood poster boy to be protected) was swindled in his salary negotiations for 7 seasons and finally had a nervous breakdown once his show wound up in S8. You can imagine how the women and PoC fare.
Literally everyone knows how horrific the work culture and conditions of that company is, and they never hold the guy whose name headlines the production company accountable for it. Because Tumblr is chock full of white gays who also see Berlanti as one of their own who is "one of the few to push the envelope regarding LGBT representation on network TV" which is absolute bullshit. He's known in the industry for never taking any risks; he allows LGBT characters to curry liberal favour and then never, ever allow them to be sexual beings on the same level as cis het couples. The same way he pushes interracial couples but then will barely let them do more than chastely kiss each other (The Flash holy god) or just break them up on a whim and shaft the Black or brown character. Oh and also just fucking fire Black women writers for daring to speak up. We've watched these fuckers bully Black actors during live Q&As man.
Being in the so-called queer-friendly fandoms of these shows, especially on Tumblr, is one of the things that completely alienated me from queer Tumblr and fandom as a whole– y'all do not fucking care, dear Jesus (you, as in general Tumblr). You just want some Unproblematic™ white guy to fawn over + Respectable Hot Brown Dude to trot out like a Get Out Of Racism card. Y'all ignore the shit out of fans of colour and drive us out when we try to tell y'all anything about the bigotry we recognise because we fucking live these microaggressions.
It's fine if this movie is going to do anything for whoever, but fellow Black and brown queers, these people do not represent us, they're using our skin tone for clout, taking our money, throwing us scraps and expecting us to be grateful for it while they use and abuse and hold our own hostage behind the screen. If you want QPoC stories, go to QPoC artists and creators or support queer creators who listen to us and involve us in their storytelling about us (and no I don't mean force anybody out of the closet jfc). Sure, go see the movie, enjoy yourselves, give the director his flowers if he earns them. But don't think we need to let up one damn inch about what we deserve, and what our artists deserve. And spend some time really thinking about the fact that "representation" politics is simply the bread and circuses of institutionalized racism, queerphobia and imperialism.
I'm gonna be honest, I don't have much hope for the Red, White and Royal Blue movie, if they ever even get around to releasing it. I think the guy who plays Henry was chosen because he played Pierce Brosnan's character's son Prince Charming in Cinderella bc tbh he looks like a Ken doll. Kissing Booth guy is way too beefcake and has zero sparkle to play Alex. Alex Claremont-Diaz is all about sparkle.
More than anything it's produced by Greg Berlanti, worst white gay to happen to network TV. Speaking as someone who was obsessed with his DCTv shows, Love, Simon was the only worthwhile thing he's ever done, and even that doesn't make up for his studio's treatment of Keiynan Lonsdale and literally every actor they've ever worked with, especially women and actors of colour. He and his merry band of ghouls need to go out of business yesterday. His brand of queer "representation" is pure white cis het respectability politics, built on sexual harrassment, racism, misogyny, worker exploitation and white privilege. I do not want this man and his toxic waste dump to get their hands on any more artists or crew of colour.
RW&RB works because it's a political wish fulfillment fantasy by a queer person that advocates for something more than just white liberal guff. Berlanti is nothing but that. Considering how much further left the young queer zeitgeist has moved since the book was published in 2019, what with the 2020 BLM protests and covid, the movie should also reflect that in order to represent queer people of colour. If not, you're just putting vulnerable people in the hands of racists and misogynists to tokenize characters of colour and erase our actual interests.
Anyway, my fancast for Alex is young Tyler Posey (bisexual Latino anyone?) and Henry is young William Moseley. Both are too old now to play the roles; fortunately the landscape of my imagination is much richer and more timeless than any live-action adaptation.
#anti greg berlanti#red white and royal blue#rwrb#idk watching candice patton basically give up in her last interview#and spell out the fact that this show cost her her mental health for 8 fucking years snapped something in me#also stephen amell gushing over berlanti in a recent thing because he was allowed back for a guest appearance on The Flash#amell only ever had two whole braincells and the conviction of a wet noodle‚ which is why his brand of racism stems from pure stupidity#but good christ man u were having panic attacks and public meltdowns and nearly lost your marriage after being kicked off this clown circus#but ig nobody is in this industry because they have self-respect#don't fucking @ me unless you've hyperfixated on this shit since 2016#i want to send david ramsey to therapy. have a feeling keiynan's already on that#bro actually wrote being shafted from The Flash into his song lyrics. king shit#racism#white queers#white liberals#queerphobia#queer media#queer lit#dctv#knee of huss

Thanks for the tag @vaguely-functional-directions !
✨10 fandoms, 10 characters, 10 tags✨
1. Isadora Quagmire (asoue)
My funky little sapphic poet! While not much of a personality in canon sadly, the fandom has built her as a sassy, clever and just wonderful girl and I just love her. I also love her name. Literally Isadora is the name that's on top for me to name my future daughter.
2. Brittany S. Pierce (Glee)
Brittany gets me. I get Brittany. Listen... when I was in middle school, I was in a... not very nice class. People basically did not let me be myself, because every time I was myself I was "weird", "annoying", etc. So, as a way to provoke them, I acted even more weird and annoying than I actually was and as a defense mechanism I tried to confuse them - cause if I confused them, they would leave me alone and I would "win" the argument.
I really see that with Brittany. But in her case, it has gone so far that she actually believes it herself, and it makes her not succeed in school because she has believed she's dumb (when she's actually super smart). When people call Brittany annoying and strange, I just feel like they don't understand her like I do.
Love ya, Britt-Britt <3
3. Francesca Caviglia (Violetta)
Where do I begin? Francesca has been my very favorite from the beginning. Not only is she super talented, I also always loved how much she cares about her friends. She's also... me. Like not only with things she says but also how she acts. Just see how she acts when her friend sings? Her facial expressions? Her little hand movements? Random noises? ME.
I have SO many Fran pictures but why not take my profile pic, *puts hair behind ear in bisexual*
4. Jessi Glaser (Big Mouth)
I talk about Big Mouth once a year, and that's when a new season drops. People have been critical of this show, calling it gross and inappropriate... but you know that, it's super funny and it came out right when I needed it. So shut up.
Jessi is... honestly my favorite out of the kids. She always has something to fight or struggle with, and that's when you get so happy for her when she pushes through it, and becomes stronger. She also has the best hormone monstress.
5. Max Mayfield (Stranger Things)
At first, I didn't think much of her, but after watching season 3 she instantly became my fave. And in season 4?? AUGH!!! <333
Max is honestly. Iconic. I love her so mcfucking much I can't even express it. I cried in the last ep of s4 when I, for a moment, actually thought she was lost. She made s4, and she made s3. She's a queen, she's a girlboss, she's a precious angel and a badass. She's everything.
6. Yamila "Yam" Sanchez (Soy Luna)
When first watching the show, I totally expected Ámbar to be my favorite (and I LOVE Ámbar and writing and obsessing over her) but NO ONE TOLD ME about Yam. NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS AMAZING GIRL?!??!
Literally she... she acts like I would in so many situations. She's so chaotic, but at the same time so talented and an amazing friend. While she's the ultimate chaos girl, she's also really down to earth. When she isn't a tornado goofball, she's the one to talk some sense into her friends.
Also 70% of her tag is just my own posts and I lowkey look forward to the day someone goes through her tag (which barely happens cause no one looks through Jim or Yam's tags) and just likes them all
Also I had very little pictures of Yam alone (a lot of them are with Jim), so I picked this one simply because it brings no context at all and also it's chaotic. Why is she crawling? I dunno
7. Riley Mattews (GMW)
SUNSHINE BABY GIRL. I love her and Maya equally, but I picked her simply because people have an easier time hating on her for just existing. I don't like that. Stop that. I also relate to her a lot (we've established at this point that I personally relate to the "weird girls").
With that said, without Maya she's not herself. She needs Maya. They're soulmates, they complete each other. I am also happy they were "endgame" and definitely dated without realizing <3 I mean, in one of the last episodes Riley LITERALLY GOES "Maya, what if we don't care about our boyfriends as much as we care about each other?"
8. Ashlyn Caswell (HSMTMTS)
ASHLYN IS MY CANON JEWISH BISEXUAL AND I LOVE HER SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She has been my favorite since the beginning. A smiling little goofball that deserves the world. She has so much love to give, she cares so much about everyone she knows. Also, I really felt she wasn't straight from the beginning. Shipped her with Nini in s1 due to their piano duet and shipped her with Gina in s2. Her journey in s3?? OH MY GOSH sadaffg
I CAN PERSONALLY RELATE TO BEING HUGGED BY A GIRL AT CAMP AND HAVING AN "OH" MOMENT. LITERALLY THAT HAPPENED TO ME. NOT JOKING.
9. Beverly Marsh (IT)
Beverly... gosh, she's special to me. Not only was she the most interesting character to follow in the 2017 movie, she was also the most interesting character to follow in the book. When I read the book, I overanalysed everything Beverly-related. Like, to the point where I could recite what the friends she had outside of the losers club were named (I don't remember anymore except for Kay McCall but that was when Bev was an adult, there were so many random characters in that book that were just mentioned as "oh, this was their friend when they were 7 also they borrowed them this book")
Protect Beverly at all costs.
10. Casey Gardner (Atypical)
Wow me?? Ok, no, I don't like running tracks like she does (I have asthma so running is the worst for me) but like... her energy? I feel like the way she talks and gestures... me!!
I don't know what else to say hahaha but I love her
Alrighty! So, I now need to tag people too. No pressure on doing this, though! Tagging:
@ven10 @broke-on-books @countessofravenclaw @moonlark-sparkles @sapphic-squid @funkyliloboist and honestly anyone else who wants to! <3
#i know you're supposed to tag 10 people#and I do have more than 10 mututals#but I am just too lazy#also you were probably supposed to keep things short. haha. not me#isadora quagmire#brittany s pierce#francesca caviglia#jessi glaser#max mayfield#yamila sanchez#riley matthews#ashlyn caswell#beverly marsh#casey gardner

16 nice things we've seen on the internet in 2018 so far
We're halfway through 2018 and it's safe to say the internet's already had some serious ups and downs.
If you reflect on the year thus far, your mind might wander to its low points, like when YouTuber Logan Paul filmed a dead body in Aokighara, known informally as a suicide forest in Japan, and uploaded the video online. Or maybe your mind jumps to the time Roseanne Barr made an extremely racist remark on Twitter.
Heck, perhaps you've blocked those cringe-worthy moments out because you’re too busy watching President Donald Trump spend his days angrily tweeting into the abyss. But despite all the bad the internet has offered us in 2018, it's had its fair share of good moments, too.
SEE ALSO: Hot knife ASMR videos are therapy for your retinas
From hilarious children and adorable animal videos, to impressive memes and chill celebrity interactions, the internet has given us a lot to smile about this year.
Here are 16 things to remind you that the internet isn't always an absolutely terrible place to spend time.
1. Lisa Frank's social media game
Looking back at social media in 2018, one unlikely hero managed to consistently deliver fresh, peppy, colorful content. That hero is Lisa Frank.
The beloved brand that ruled your childhood is over here absolutely slaying the social game — sharing relatable AF memes, cheerful animal graphics, and rainbows galore on Facebook and Instagram on a near-daily basis. If you're looking for a heavy dose of positivity, some Monday inspiration, or an unexpected laugh, Lisa Frank’s got you covered.
How’s your Monday going? #mondaymood #lisafrank #sweettooth ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
A post shared by Lisa Frank (@lisa_frank) on Jun 11, 2018 at 3:28pm PDT
2. Will Smith's Instagram account
Though the world welcomed Will Smith to Instagram in December 2017, the actor and super-cool dad really hit his social media stride in the new year.
Smith gives us everything we could ever want in a celebrity Instagram account — he serves up laughs, gives us looks into his personal life, posts those Fresh Prince of Bel-Air throwbacks we all crave, and shares photos with his family members and famous friends. We are barely worthy of your content, Will, but we're glad you're here.
Ima keep it 💯 wit’ y’all... I Hurt Myself doin’ that Champeta Move.
A post shared by Will Smith (@willsmith) on May 9, 2018 at 7:07am PDT
3. Kids finding out they were going to see Black Panther
Since its release, Black Panther has shattered box office records and inspired tons of memes, but we're not sure anything about the franchise will ever be able to top this video of Atlanta middle school students learning they'd be going to see the film.
In one of the nicest feel-good clips out there, Wade King — teacher and director of curriculum and instruction at Ron Clark Academy — captured video of students reacting to the news.
The students just found out we are all going to see BLACK PANTHER! We will have a day of cultural classes, African dancers, historical lessons and then we will all go see the film! Turn up!!!! @ronclarkacademy @chadwickboseman #tlhanna pic.twitter.com/oUhWse5ghr
— Wade King (@WadeKing7) February 2, 2018
Is this not one the purest things you've ever seen? Want more? No problem. The school's founder Ron Clark tweeted another video.
4. The #M'BakuChallenge
Black Panther had such an impact in online communities that it wouldn't be right to simply highlight one glorious Wakanda-related internet moment. Behold: The M'Baku Challenge — a delightful trend that called on people to recreate some of the most iconic lines from Jabari tribe leader M'Baku (played by Winston Duke).
Many Black Panther fans made admirable efforts, but 7-year-old Jordan's rendition was so superb that even Michael B. Jordan showed him some love.

5. Inspiring Twitter thread of women lifting each other up
It's an absolutely beautiful sight when an overwhelming amount of positivity is born from a single act of negativity. That's what happened in May when Twitter user @lewisbcfc74 claimed to be "sick of" seeing girls complimenting each other on Instagram.
Sick of going through insta and seeing girls commenting on other girls pictures 'look at u!!😭' and 'have you seen yourself😍' grow up man you don't even know each other
— Lewis (@lewisbcfc74) May 17, 2018
"Sick of going through Insta and seeing girls commenting on other girls pictures 'look at u!! and 'have you seen yourself’ grow up man you don't even know each other," he wrote. The tweet inadvertently inspired a thread of women who came together for the sole purpose of complimenting one another.
Girl you’re one to talk. Look at your skin, GLOWING
— Saya Norton (@sayanorton_) May 18, 2018
At the time of writing this article, the original tweet had 2,000 replies — most of which are women lifting each other up. Could someone please @ me when all of Twitter is this perfect?
6. Meghan Markle's pre-glow up photo
When actress Meghan Markle married Prince Harry on May 19, we were blessed not only with gorgeous photos from the big day, but with photos of a young Markle in her pre-royal family days. While she was off becoming the Duchess of Sussex, the internet was busy obsessing over an old photo of the former actress as a teen tourist posing in front of Buckingham Palace in London.
Straight-up inspired by her transformation from teen tourist to adult royal, people dubbed Markle's love story the Ultimate Glow Up. #Goals
every time i feel giving up on anything i'm just going to look at this picture set and get my life pic.twitter.com/t7AFDO2DW7
— indie (@INDIEWASHERE) May 19, 2018
7. Dramatic Little League kid
Little League is no laughing matter. Unless, of course, you're this adorable jokester who was told to run from third base to home "as fast as he can."
In one of the most dramatic moments in Little League's little history, Twitter user @TabbyRodriguez's teeny cousin Lenn completed his victory sprint in agonizing slow motion, taking more than 45 seconds to run to home base. Lenn ignored the haters, making for some absolutely perfect content.
8. Jenna Fischer telling The Office fans about Pam and Michael's airport goodbye
Fans of the beloved NBC comedy The Office still aren't ready to let go of their Scranton family. So when Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesley on the show, took a moment to reminisce about the emotional Goodbye, Michael episode, people were pretty pumped.
In an Instagram live, Fischer revealed to followers what her character said to Steve Carrell's during their touching airport goodbye scene.
"That was me talking to Steve," Fischer told her Instagram followers. "I told him all the ways I was going to miss him when he left our show. Those were real tears and a real goodbye. That was a really emotional scene."
BRB, sobbing.

9. Fans coming together after Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cancelled
A brief moment of absolute panic descended upon Brooklyn Nine-Nine Twitter in May after it was revealed that the show had been cancelled by Fox.
ME IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINDING OUT @Brooklyn99FOX WAS CANCELLED AT WORK pic.twitter.com/8IrllX2TYU
— Nicole Gallucci (@nicolemichele5) May 10, 2018
Fans (and celebs) were distraught by the news, but quickly bounced back from mourning to fight like hell to keep the show going. People tweeted at networks, shared how important the plot lines and characters were to their lives, and furiously thanked the creators, writers, actors, and crew members for all their hard work.
And you know what? IT WORKED. In a beautiful 2018 plot twist, NBC decided to pick up the comedy for a sixth season. One of the most blessed turn of events all year.
We got your SIX! #Brooklyn99 is officially coming to NBC! pic.twitter.com/NNQw2OZquH
— NBC Entertainment (@nbc) May 12, 2018
10. Mom's viral cheesecake rant
"Do you want the fucking cake or do you not want the fucking cake?" That's the question fed-up baker and business owner Kim Copeland — and eventually thousands of others — were dying to know the answer to in May 2018.
The internet got the rage-filled hero it needed when Twitter user @adrienne_bc shared an entertaining 2:20 long video of her mom, Copeland, contemplating a vague AF cheesecake order commitment made by some flaky person named Ginger. After reading their text exchanges, reflecting on proper cake-ordering etiquette, and explaining everything she has going on in her own busy life, Copeland straight-up went OFF, asking, "Just tell me, Ginger, do you want the fucking cheesecake?"
I wonder if Ginger will dare order another fucking cheesecake again.
11. Kendall Jenner vs. Kacey Musgraves
Ah, FEUDS! Gotta love 'em... especially when they're between celebrities, and they end far sooner than expected and in a very gentle manner, right? Thus is the story of Kendall Jenner and Kacey Musgraves' short-lived, not-actually-a-feud feud.
The tale goes like this: In May, Jenner shared a photo on Instagram of herself sipping tea on a New York City rooftop while wearing lingerie...as one does. And in the background of her picture was a Musgraves billboard, except OH WAIT. It's blurred out. *gasp*
A post shared by Kendall (@kendalljenner) on May 3, 2018 at 4:44pm PDT
In response Jenner's possible shade, Musgraves shared a screenshot of the Instagram post to her own story, prompting Jenner to apologize profusely for the misunderstood shade via Twitter. Jenner explained she "...didn’t edit this photo! Kacey is literally my fuckin fav! ... ask anyone of my homies i die for her!"
Aw, how nice. It's refreshing to take a breather from hardcore public feuding every so often, isn't it?
12. Busting a move at graduation
Few days in life are as important as your pre-school graduation, and 5-year-old Aubrey Toby celebrated hers to the fullest.
On stage, diploma in-hand and dressed in her purple cap and gown, the precious and fiercely talented North Carolina student proudly danced her way across the stage and towards the exciting world of kindergarten.
Toby's godfather Merle Murrain II shared footage of her busting a celebratory move to Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop The Feeling" alongside her far-less enthused classmates. She clearly stole the show and better make the graduation dance a regular part of any future ceremonies.
A post shared by Merle Murrain II (@themerlemurrain) on Jun 2, 2018 at 9:59am PDT
13. The #APESHITCHALLENGE
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have had quite the 2018 already, what with going on tour together and dropping a joint album out of nowhere. And in case that wasn't enough, they also inspired a very good viral challenge.
The #APESHITCHALLENGE was born after Bey and Jay dropped their music video for "APESHIT" (which was casually filmed at the Louvre in Paris, btw). In one scene, Beyoncé thrashes at the top of a massive staircase while dressed in a huge white gown. Fans promptly recreated the moment in their own homes, using a white bed sheet to get the effect.
14. Hillary Clinton mocking James Comey
Remember that time Hillary Clinton absolutely roasted former FBI Director James Comey on Twitter? 'Twas brilliant.
She simply couldn't resist after it was announced that Comey used a personal email account for his own official government business. Yes, this is the same Comey who opened an investigation ahead of the 2016 election into Clinton's private email account usage during her time as Secretary of State.
But my emails. https://t.co/G7TIWDEG0p
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) June 14, 2018
"But my emails," Clinton wrote, quote-tweeting news of Comey's personal email troubles. A tweet so iconic it almost lives up to "Delete your account."
15. DJ Switch
Say hello to DJ Switch, the coolest young DJ in Ghana. BBC News Africa shared a video of Erica, aka DJ Switch, who started dropping beats at the age of 9 and has been inspiring people ever since.
"I picked the name DJ Switch because I switch up people's happiness," Erica said, explaining that while DJing is her passion, she wants to be a gynocologist when she grows up so that she can "help women."
HERO.
16. A massive Twitter thread of puppies
Finally, we end this light and joyous trip down memory lane with this extremely lengthy Twitter thread of puppies meeting, playing, and being very cute together. Twitter user @BlairBraverman truly blessed the internet with this one.
As you know, we have a lot of puppies right now. pic.twitter.com/Vsw5SE0Wzt
— Blair Braverman (@BlairBraverman) June 26, 2018
It's been a wild ride. Let's hope there's more where these came from in the second half of 2018.

Can I just add (i think I've already ranted about this actually) that Marie's been late 20s/early 30s playing a teenager (4 seasons) and then an early 20s adult (1/2 season) nearly the whole time we've seen her in this role.
Then she went into the anomaly (a 33 year old actress playing a 23 year old character) and came out 10 seconds later in the same scene as a 33 year old actress playing a 33 year old character. But the only major difference i saw was she had an extra 8 inches of hair, had taken a bath and did her eyebrows. Those visible changes accounted for maybe a year of aging - they didn't suggest 10.
We didn't know that she was supposed to have aged 10 whole years for half a season and all the time between the end of 6 and the start of 7. Does Marie look early thirties? Sure! Are we as the audience used to suspending disbelief (as most of us have been out whole lives watching adults play children) and seeing Octavia as 16-23 for seasons 1-6? Also yes.
This also came on the heels of season 6's drastic hair and make-up changes for Echo, Raven and Octavia. They all got “dolled up” with no explanation at the beginning of season 6 - and upon rewatch and looking at pics side-by-side, early S6 Octavia has been made up to look a little younger - in comparison to mid/late season 6 Octavia. But since it just seemed like the women who weren't going to get any agency in the season several characters all got “beautified” for no discernible reason, that wasn't really noticeable until I went looking for it.
If I wasn't watching this season and I was seeing GIFs of that same actress at her same age playing mom to someone who was clearly only around a decade younger, I'd have me some freakin' questions too. I barely kept up with it and I watched live.
hey the 100 fans, is there an actual believable reason (via time anomaly shenanigans) that Octavia and Hope look like they’re roughly the same age? or is it just because they couldn’t age Marie up? because honestly it’s making it impossible for me to really buy the whole mother/daughter dynamic
#the 100 season 7#octavia#hair and makeup discourse#is that even a thing#also don't pretend like the media hasn't been distorting teenagers' perception of aging for decades#girls especially but really everyone#see an actual teenager on screen and we all go “that tall child looks terrible!”#if they'd spent 4 seasons making Marie look like an actual teen then it would have been 100% obvious#bit they didn't and they wouldn't#because real teenagers are dealing with all the unpleasant parts of aging and that doesn't generate ad revenue#ffs
