Just saw an entire tiktok comment section filled with people who read batfam fic instead of any source material and they kept talking about how they would never watch "the movies". What fucking movies? The dynamic you pretend to know isn't from there. At least know what you're not consuming if you're going to be an idiot.

I know people love the batfam, and throwing them through a bunch of character development to make Bruce a better dad so that they're a happy family (at least as close to a happy family they can be).
But it would be really funny if the batkids ended up running off to the homes of Bruce's friends whenever he pisses them off.
And I know you're thinking about Clark or Diana first, but I imagine Barry as the one who has to deal with his house being broken into by a bunch of kids who need refuge from their dad that they're pissed off at.
Now, hear me out.
Dick is best friends with Wally, and I really like Barry and Bruce being close friends. So Dick would've spent a lot of his childhood being around Barry since the guy probably goes to the Batcave to ramble about cases with Bruce.
You could also have him go over to Metropolis to vent to his uncle Clark, but I want the speedster to wrap him in a blanket and give him advice on how to take care of himself and relieve that pressure of being the oldest.
Now Jason... Maybe he would fuck off over to Coast to bother Hal with his problems.
Because 1. The guy already hates Batman, and he would totally bond with Jason over complaining about his awful demeanor. 2. Bruce hates Hal, so Jason bonding with Hal and sharing stories of Bruce doing stupid things to piss him off would be hilarious.
Hal gets stories of the great Batman burning down a kitchen trying to make toast, and Jason gets a hero in his corner ready to wholeheartedly defend him against Batman.
Even if Jason went into a rage, Hal could 100% defend himself by putting him in a box to let it all out. He would not judge Jason for the side effects of dying, they might even bond over that!
I also love the headcanon of Hal being a great cook and knowing how to make great food with his limited supply. So that's something he could bond with Jason over while he vents about what Bruce did this time.
And for the Halbarry enjoyers of this platform, Hal eventually migrating over to Barry's home when they date could give Jason another hero who has experience dealing with Bruce's bullshit under his belt. And he can spend his time cooking mountains of food for the resident speedsters as a way to vent when Hal is off planet.
Now Tim.
Tim shall also go to Barry, because I think these two are cute together, and Tim is friends with Bart, so I imagine him hanging out in Barry's home pretty often regardless. (I may be clinging to that one comic panel of Barry saying he liked Tim. No idea where it is tho)
Give Tim another adult to get help with his cases. Barry canonically spends time after meetings chatting with Bruce about cases. Tim has experience dealing with Bart and his speed rambles. They both could let loose around the other and go nerd as much as they want. Tim would find Barry's knowledge of science fascinating.
And it would've been so fun if Tim went to Barry when Bruce was out of time for help. The speedster has plenty of experience with time-related shenanigans!
Damian... I think he would like Dinah a lot? Maybe because her prowess in martial arts is impressive and reminds him of his mother, so he respects her a lot?
I don't know Damian that well, he might like Barry because he's fast enough to react to all of his attacks, so he doesn't have to worry about catching him off guard. He might even find it fun to try and land a hit? maybe.

kb/ms is truly transcendental yaoi, spectacular, amazing, 10/10, no notes ... from the perspective of a mithrun enjoyer
as a kabru enjoyer, however...
I'll start off by saying that of course Kabru doesn't want or need a romantic relationship to be fulfilled, especially not with a white man, none of them do, it's all non-canon, Dungeon Meshi isn't about romance or shipping, yes yes yes, but none of us are here for that right now!! We're here to fruitlessly argue why my blorbos kissing makes more sense than your blorbos kissing!! You know it, I know it, none of us are free of cringe!! Clown on clown violence!!
That being said ... 🤡
I just don't see what Kabru gets out of kb/ms. With Mithrun, it makes sense; Kabru has a huge impact on him and ultimately helps him reaffirm his will to live. That's very exquisite drama and excellent character writing. But with Kabru, I just don't feel that Mithrun's character interacts with his personal flaws and would instigate his growth anywhere close to the same degree. I have to imagine most fics involving them focus more on Mithrun's baggage and how Kabru helps him heal from that ... because that's mostly all that happens between them in the main story, lol!
And like, that makes sense, because ultimately chapters 61-62 aren't about Kabru and Mithrun; they're about Kabru working through his conflicted feelings in helping Laios conquer the dungeon. I think it's ironic seeing people complain about kb/ms having Kabru be Mithrun's accessory when, if anything, Mithrun's main narrative purpose, outside of illustrating the danger of the Winged Lion, is to serve as Kabru's obstacle. I'd even argue Mithrun represents Kabru's personal bad ending; Mithrun wants him to kill Laios and surrender the dungeon to the canaries, preventing the short-lived races from ever understanding how dungeons function and returning to the status quo that had gotten Utaya destroyed. It's only when Laios practically forces Kabru, straight up puts his thumbs to the screws, to work past his reticence and be emotionally vulnerable that Kabru finally puts himself on the right path to achieve his goals (it's, uh, still a bit of a bumpy ride, but they get there in the end, lol!). If he'd been this way with Laios from the beginning, he might have understood Laios' intentions from the start and saved himself a lot of pain, but it's only because of Laios' influence that Kabru is able to grow as a character and get his happy ending.
(And even if one were a Mithrun enjoyer, ultimately the main source of Mithrun's life affirmation comes from the canaries. In that final scene, Kabru gets the ball rolling because he's outside of the canary hierarchy, but the scene ends with Mithrun being embraced by the canaries and as far as I'm aware the two don't interact with or reference each other post canon at all. Hell, it's Senshi who really drives the point home. Not that it matters when we're all wearing shipping goggles here, but it felt remiss not to mention it.)
At most, I can see how taking care of Mithrun would force Kabru to reexamine how poorly he takes care of his own body and that could make for some good drama. But even then, that change is ultimately instigated by Laios' influence on him, an extension of how Kabru wants to understand how Laios can see the value in monsters in an attempt to better understand his own trauma. If a person were to get into Dungeon Meshi specifically for Kabru and wanted to ship him with someone in a way that's most interesting for him, I'd be hard-pressed to argue there's a better choice than Laios (although who'd be cringe enough to do something like that haha right guys ... [sweating])
(Side note, though, I really don't vibe with the argument that kb/ms "reduces Kabru to a caretaker role" and that's why it's bad. There's plenty of instances where Kabru shoulders his friends' burdens (helps Kuro learn common tongue, listens to Daya's fiance about his relationship troubles, etc) and, more importantly, is seemingly happy to do so. I think Kabru genuinely enjoys looking after his friends and in the story seems to find plenty of personal satisfaction getting Mithrun to eat. I understand it has the potential to be more troubling considering Kabru is a brown man and Mithrun is a white man, but idk, it just feels on the same level as people trying to discount labru by saying Laios wouldn't take enough of an interest in people to want to start a romantic relationship, when his whole thing is that he does want to connect with people and just feels like he can't. It's not a bone I feel like picking, haha)
I honesty don't mind characters being "mischaracterized" in fandom or fic even to a large degree, I know it bugs a lot of people but I respect that ultimately fandom is little more than picking up the vague outline of a doll and playing with it and mashing their faces together. Besides, if I'm really worked up about it I can just write a fic and set the record straight myself, haha. This post is merely inspired by the supremely annoying subsection of twitter that acts like labru is the ship where it's just two dudes sitting in a room together. I'm just saying, Kabru ends the series whispering into the ear of another man as his day job and it's not Mithrun lmao
#fandom wank#wank wanky fandom wank#thought you'd cringed at the last of me didn't you#sorry im a hater lmao#idk yall remember my opening note in 'nourish'#where i talked about how sometimes ships are your blorbo and the character they're closest to in canon#that was me throwing shade haha#stone-shaped shade in my delicate glass house#but shade nonetheless lmao#can't relate to people who are like 'nooooo don't fight about ships you guysss' like NO i wanna fight actually i think it's funny#kabru DOES only have one hand actually and the other one's holding the castle itinerary 😤#but only through absurd shitposts or overly long essays on your own blog like you still need to follow etiquette#people who send hate are losers who can't write or draw to cope#meanwhile i ship and write fics like it's a competitive sport i can win lol

Earthspark S3 synopsis spoilers!!
Rotten Tomatoes leaked the titles and synopsizes for episodes 2-7 of Season 3 and I have opinions.
First of all, I JINXED IT??? Yesterday I was literally writing a post complaining about how little info we got about S3 compared to the other seasons before their release. I was nearly done it but got lazy and I saved it as a draft to finish later, cue 1 AM at night when I decide to check again Rotten Tomatoes for any updates, AND THERE WERE NEW EPISODES?? I just manifested them into existence with the power of hyperfixation I guess. So, you're welcome guys. (Although it is pretty cool that I discovered it myself because that usually doesn't happen to me since I don't use Reddit or Discord, it also signifies that the mainstream Transformers fandom doesn't really seem to care about Earthspark that much anymore considering the fact they aren't interested on reporting on new leaks. And that sucks, but I can't exactly blame them.)
But also you're not welcome because wtf are these synopsizes. I'm trying my best to be positive and stuff, and I know we should probably wait for the episodes to come out before we judge too hard, but these descriptions are definitely raising some red flags. There only seems to be 7 episodes which is very disappointing and doesn't seem like enough time to wrap up all the plot points from S2, plus the new S3 plot points they are introducing. Not to mention that there seems to be one or two filler episodes, which doesn't seem like a lot for most shows but it matters when you have such limited time. Filler can be good when it is well-written, helps develop the characters, and doesn't take time away from the rest of the plot. S1 filler was enjoyable because it had these qualities, but S2 filler however....... I don't think so. Not only is the writing just plain bad, but the writers almost seem adverse to developing their characters because they don't want to break their 'good guys good/bad guys bad' formula and need everything to reset to the status quo by the end of the episode, rendering the filler basically pointless. (See, the end of Togetherness) So not only is the filler getting in the way of the plot, but I'm not entirely sure it'll even be enjoyable.
I don't know if we are going to be getting more episodes after this. Some say we are going to get more batches, some say we are going to get longer specials instead, and some say Earthspark is cancelled and won't be getting any continuation. I think we probably will get some sort of finale, but either way, now is not the time for the writers to start messing around. There are plenty plot points from S2 that need to be wrapped up (The Decepticons, Terrantronus, The Chaos Terrans, The Quintessions) and yet they are already adding some more plot points for S3. The descriptions don't really mention any of the S2 plot points, and obviously we should wait till the episodes actually release to see if they do, but I'm still a bit skeptical. But these S3 plot points do seem interesting so lets talk about them.
IZZY'S EVIL?? Or a shapeshifter Quintession thing?? I'm gonna be real I did not see that coming and I don't really know how to feel. It's more interesting than her just being a designated crush character but I'm still just not really invested enough in her and Robby's relationship to care. I wonder if she's actually a shapeshifting Quintession or just a human working for the Quintession's? (I'm sorta hoping for the first thing tbh since we don't need more human screentime) I also wonder if she'll just be pure evil or if she'll be redeemed by the power of straight people or something. Imagine if some random girl gets redeemed but not any of the Decepticons, that'd be really funny.
There's this new plot point called 'The Hate Plague' which seems to be some sort of disease that drives bots into a rage. It pops up after EP4, right after The Autobot Ship (probably containing Prowl) crash lands. My guess is that the disease stems from Prowl's ship, and also probably has something to do with the Quintession's big plan. That either means the ship had a Quintession stowaway or some other substance that the Quintession's planted there that somehow caused the disease. There is also the possibility that it has something to do with The Chaos Energy from the Chaos Terrans since they are associated with rage?? But we'll have to see. I think the plot will follow The Autobots slowly being taken over by the disease, making them dangerous to the Maltos, leaving them all by themself to find someway to reverse it's affects and bring them back while also fighting the enemy that wants to take Robby and Mo's power for their own- wait a sec HAVEN'T WE DONE THIS BEFORE?? Isn't just the GHOST mind control all over again??? Sure, the Hate Plague makes them more enraged whilst the Mind Control made them emotionless, but it will still lead to them fighting against the Maltos right? It just feels way too similar. And the lines "she (Twitch) realizes she may be the only one who can help" and "Prowl recruits Thrash and Robby to investigate the source of the mysterious Hate Plague" sort of implies The Terran's can't be infected? Which seems worse since it means the Terrans won't benefit by whatever potential character development the Hate Plague could bring. But I don't want to jump to conclusions. I think it would be more interesting if the 'Hate Plague' didn't just make the bots mindless enraged savages, but instead actually make them more hateful. The plague clouds their view and makes them see the negative in everything, but they still retain their cognitive abilities, specifically the ability to talk. This could lead to interesting character dynamics being challenged since everyone would be arguing with each other and their previously-hidden opinions would come to light. This would still install conflict in the Autobot base but it wouldn't make them just mindless enemies and could actually lead to really interesting dialogue and situations. Think of The Spell of Shattered Sight from Once Upon a Time. It would put the Autobots out of commission and they wouldn't be able to help the Terrans but it wouldn't lead to them mindlessly attacking them without a reason, so it wouldn't be too similar to the GHOST mind control. But I'm not sure if they'll go for this angle since the S2 writers don't seem to be a fan of 'complicated characters' and exposing some of the flaws of the Autobots via The Hate Plague would destroy their 'good guys good/bad guys bad' narrative. It's easier to just turn The Autobots into mindless monsters to fight the Terrans for awhile. It'll also probably lead to some "i know your still in there 🥺" fights, which may be good character development if they are written well but they will probably end up being really corny. Like I said, we've done this all before.
No mention of The Chaos Terrans guys. I'm not doing well. We don't have the synposis for EP1 which would be the one they are most likely to be mentioned in, but the fact that they are not even alluded to in the other descriptions has me worried. I don't care if they stay pure evil, I also don't care if they speedrun a poorly written redemption arc, I JUST WANT THEM TO BE ALIVE 😭😭 (istfg if they try to redeem Starscream after what he did......)
The episode I'm most excited for is probably EP4. The plot of going into the Decepticon base and "friendships being tested" might mean we'll be getting some character development between The Autobots and/or The Decepticons? I have a soft spot for snow day episodes, so I'll probably enjoy EP 5 as well. The description of EP6 sort of made it seem like they would go on a full on investigation, so I think it would be funny if it was styled like a Noir Dectective film lmao (idk Prowl's character that well, is that something he would do?)
Either way, I will stay cautiously optimistic and be on the lookout for anymore leaks!

When I talk about media, which let's be honest is mainly horror movies, they surprise me with interesting approaches to a topic, queerness, unique ideas, or simply through being unexpectedly fun and exciting. And that's always a fun entry into talking about a movie.
Sometimes I'll be so thrilled by a movie, or something in the movie, I immediately need to look up the critical response, and that might also be a place to start talking about media - particularly when I see criticism which, to my eyes, failed to understand something interesting about the movie. I might feel like the movie hasn't been seen by many people, or wasn't appreciated, and contrasting my experience with specific criticisms (I think) creates more a more interesting conversation about a movie, and may even prompt someone to watch it when they wouldn't have otherwise. It might even be my own expectations were so wrong, I'm excited about how wrong I was.
On the opposite side of this approach is "critics just don't understand movies are about fun!" What's frustrating is that this is in part true but is also in no way useful to understand if a movie is enjoyable. As a lover of horror, I am intimately acquainted with the tendency of critics to dismiss significant parts of the genre because it's just fun, and to try and put distance between any horror they enjoy ("elevated horror" - kiss my ass). I'm used to most people dismissing the genre as scary, gross, or otherwise just deeply unpalatable.
I'm so used to all that, in fact, that I want to try and go a little deeper when I'm trying to tell people about something interesting than just "critics don't understand movies should be fun." And that's what I'm actually complaining about today. Both the instance that fun is a primary quality attribute, and contextualizing something as misunderstood because somehow critics are all stuck in the no fun zone.
It would be one thing if "fun" was meant in a general sense. I find some pretty harrowing films fun, some really grim stuff fun. However, it mainly comes up with large budget movies, widely distributed movies, that generally are already being seen by plenty of audiences and which receive a large amount of promotion. And a lot of them are fine, they're fun, and that's about it. Plenty of critics out there have the same response, and generally that's what goes on the posters and in the trailers and everyone just goes on about their way until anyone runs across a criticism comes up like "I don't think it was very good / I don't think it was very interesting" and it gets a middle of the road critical score because it's a middle of the road movie not meant to be interesting.
That should all be fairly normal stuff, but there seems to be some disconnect between "this was a regular movie that was a lot of fun and wasn't necessarily world changing, but I am a big fan," and "critics didn't like this movie because it was not filmed or written or directed in a particular enjoyable way, but rather for general consumption by anyone with no specific need to be treated as intellectual." When someone like Martin Scorsese or Jamie Lee Curtis says something negative about something like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems to turn into this huge reaction of "Critics Just Don't Understand Fun" but now it's a kind of angry monster demanding atonement to fun. And on the one hand, for a lot of critics, those movies aren't for them. I think they know it, but their job is to analyze films, meaningful or otherwise.
But what I'm not sure everyone else knows is that sometimes criticism of your favorite fun movie is not for you. Critics can and do miss things that make a movie interesting, or dismiss a good movie because they think the general topic isn't worth analysis. But also like, when "critics don't understand movies should be fun" is pretty much exclusively leveraged at criticism of big expensive mass marketed movies, and also pretty often as criticism against movies which are making distinct choices which deviate from what is established as the expectation by mass marketed large budget movies, what happens is that I see that sort of phrase and I find I don't really trust what comes after it. So often, the context of that idea is a sort of film criticism equivalent to people who throw themselves in front of Elon Musk to protect the poor defenseless billionaire. And like, I don't know, maybe someone rushing to the defense of a huge movie release doesn't have the same idea as fun as me.
So I'm not gonna spend my time or money on the exciting big budget movie that critics don't understand is fun. What I'm gonna do is, I'm gonna just jump down into another scuzzy horror flick I never heard of and see where it goes, because that is what's fun for me.

Secret Santa - day 20
TW: Fluff, surprise
Summary: Football drove a wedge between many families at the most heart-wrenching times but sometimes there are exceptions with a little help from your friends and their loving personalities.
You and Darwin were more than what met the eye. It was something so much more, something that wasn't visible to anyone else but you two. The world had put you both together as if you were two pees in a pod. But sometimes absence is what made the heart grow founder. Due to Darwin's commitments to his international duties, there was a chance of not waking up to his familiar self on Christmas morning. You were sure he could come back before Christmas but as more of the tournament went on the statistics of his arrival was decreased as every day went by. You knew you couldn't complain, football was his life especially when he was proudly styling his Uruguayan shirt. As much as you want your boyfriend back home you knew that you had to make the most of the situation you had.
Due to the close nit relationships of all the LFC teammates, you hosted a small secret Santa party for some of your closest friends. As most of your best friends were WAGs of the players they knew how hard it could be to not have your loved one with you at Christmas time; they were more than happy to join you and make your occasion as festive and enjoyable as possible. You had been pottering around all day trying to make your house as festive as possible for everyone around. All though you were disheartened about Darwin you couldn't help but feel excitement for the memories that were going to be made.
"Hello!" You said with glee. As soon as you opened the door you were met with Andy and Rachel Robertson standing with huge smiles and plenty of presents.
"Hiya!" Andy shouted back with a laugh as you let them both in and guided them towards your living room. James and Amy Milner were already vacating the living room with champagne in their hands and Christmas songs being sung from their bodies.
"Merry Christmas everyone," Rachel and Andy said in unison with just as wide smiles. You quickly let Thiago and Julia Alcantara inside as well as Jordan and Trent with their families. Your living room was filled with such a buzz and the most amazing feeling of joy. You finally took a seat next to Julia as everyone shared old and new memories from their Christmas traditions.
"How are you feeling?" Julia asked as she placed her hand on yours as a show of care and friendship. You could always trust her to look out for you. She had been in this situation before and knew how hard it was for you especially when it was just you and him normally.
"I'm ok, I just miss him that's all" You explained with a tight smile. Her eyes were filled with sorry and hope that maybe something could change. Christmas was days away and the thought of him being with you was all you wanted.
"I understand and I know how hard it can be. Unfortunately, these things have to happen but it makes the days with them feel so much better" She said with a soft tone and delicate words. Since you and Darwin arrived in the city of England Julia had taken you under her wing and shown you what a truly amazing and kind friend is. You were nervous when you first arrived, the idea of settling into a whole new country gave you fear you couldn't describe but you couldn't off adapt to it all better. You were in love with your life in Liverpool even if it was freezing a lot of the time.
"I cannot wait to finally see him again," You said with a huge smile as you thought about yourself reuniting with the man you couldn't help but love every day. Julia gave you a huge hug as you both took a long sip of your cold champagne flutes with the same feeling - a festive and cheerful feeling.
"Right should we start with secret Santa then" Trent suggested with a smile as he sat up from his seat and passed around some of his presents.
"Oh yeah!" Amy and James shouted in unison with a laugh as they couldn't help but feel like little kids on Christmas morning. You all sat up in your seats and got ready for the present giving. You had gotten James for your secret Santa and as the presents for the game were strictly funny and personal to the recipient you couldn't help but buy him a bottle of Ribena as it was popularly his favourite drink after his famous interview.
Can I go first?" Jordan asked as it seemed like he and his wife couldn't help in waiting for their present giving. You all agreed with a laugh as they didn't even seem to have a present with them.
"So our present is for y/n" Jordan's wife explained with a wink towards you. You couldn't help but feel a wave of nerves at how strange they were both beginning to act. "You all need to come outside for it though! Y/n you come out first but put this on first" She added with a laugh as she handed you an eye mask with a huge smile. You reluctantly took the item from her hands with curious eyes as you stifled a laugh.
"Oh god! if there's some kind of animal outside I will cry!" You warned as you couldn't help but think there would be some kind of lion chilling on your drive or a giraffe eating from your trees.
"I wouldn't personally call it an animal but it depends on what your opinions are" Jordan explained with his northeast accent as he took your hand and led you out of the front door you had to try and guess where you were placing your feet. Everyone else followed behind you, as soon as they saw the present in question their heart's doubled and something seemed to fall into place.
"3," Jordan said with a smile.
"2" everyone shouted with huge grins as they couldn't wait for you to peel the eye mask off and reveal your secret Santa present.
"1" They all screamed louder as they covered their mouths with the aim of not spoiling the surprise by screaming. As soon as you heard one you pulled the mask off your face and your eyes landed on your present. Your heart stopped and your hands came flying onto your face as you saw what was before you.
"Darwin!" You shouted before running over to his large body and wrapping your legs around his waist. His hands strongly held you onto him and gripped onto the one thing he urged himself to have every day.
"Mi amour" he softly whispered in the cruck off your neck as he squeezed his eyes shut in an aim to stop the threatening tears from falling down his cheeks. You couldn't help but wrap your body closer to his and feel that connection you were away from for so long. The feeling of his love and devotion filled a hole in your heart and you couldn't help but feel a wave of emotion.
"Your home," You said in barely a whisper as you stood in front of his large body and his hands came and caressed your soft warm cheeks. The familiar sight of his structured jaw and addicting orbs sent your body to the peace you couldn't describe it was perfection to you, this was your home.
"I'm home baby," Darwin said agreeing with your soft words in his Uruguayan accent as his lips came crashing onto yours and the applause and whistles from everyone behind you filled your ears. Darwin let out a laugh as he waved to everyone behind you as he was greeted by his new teammates and their loved ones. Maybe this Christmas was something so much better than normal.

idk like, I think people should have the right and the space to complain about new canon fandom stuff if they want, I know how annoying it is when you wanna kvetch about something and then there's a toxically positive person trying to shame you for it, and I know there's probably always going to be stuff worth complaining about in any new thing, but that said I'm personally at a point where I really want to try to enjoy things for what they are, you know? There's so much conflict and horror in everyday modern life, plenty of things IRL to be upset about, and so I'm personally losing the willingness to be as critical as possible out the gate for things that are meant to bring enjoyment and escapism (video games, tv shows, movies, books, graphic novels, etc). I think a lot of it stems from personal disappointment when a new addition of a source material doesn't reflect every story note or have all the lore consistency or whatever it is that the person in question thinks it should, and honestly sometimes those errors are just so glaring it genuinely ruins the whole thing. BUT sometimes I think we get so wrapped up in what we think a thing 'should' be in our own minds that what seems like a genuine issue is actually just a personal bias that has become so strong it's getting in the way of any potential for enjoyment. That's the sort of thing I've been working with myself on, just remembering that the people who made a thing might have had different goals in doing so than I would have, and that doesn't have to make a thing inherently bad or worthy of reproach. It's also one of the reasons fandom exists, so we can explore those unanswered questions of 'what if this happened instead' and I think there's potential for that to coexist with enjoyment of the thing for what it is. Idk I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do, just sort of thinking out loud, but I will say it's been a much happier existence to try to enjoy canon source material for what it is, but also take it with a grain of salt to some extent because I can literally make up whatever I want to in my head and/or in fanworks to supplement and that's really not a bad thing!! Fandoms thrive on ambiguity and space to fill in the blanks, and not so much when we get everything we want (because then, what's left for us to create?). I mean, this is coming from someone who's made elaborate headcanons, fanfics and fanart about how my main characters romanced canonically unromanceable characters in two different video games, so I know I'm weird, but I also know I'm not alone, because there are many other talented creatives who've gone out on such limbs in fandom works before (I follow several of them and you know who you are!!). There's nothing wrong with just trying to enjoy something for what it is, and nothing wrong with taking those pieces and making it your own.
#personal#this is just random thoughts idk#stuff ive been ruminating on for awhile now#partially inspired by some critical takes of the new DA game i saw inadvertently lol#ive been trying to avoid those bc while i support their right to criticize it's just a bit of a vibe killer for me atp lol#part of me: i don't agree but you're valid#another part of me: WHY IF YOU JUST TRIED TO ACCEPT AND ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT IS?? WHAT THEN??#but i don't want to say it like that lol#also inspired by critical takes on other things that have recently come out#idk i don't want to be the toxically positive person people should be allowed to criticize#but i also wonder if some people might benefit from favoring wonder over skepticism from time to time#bc sometimes it feels like a thing gets released and suddenly there are criticizers picking it over like vultures#before it even has time to breathe and settle before anyone even has time to think about it#idk personally im just getting kinda tired of that

i haven't seen much yelling on the dashboard but i've been playing the horse ranch ep for more than 4 sim weeks (and 3 different saves) and BOY OH BOY do i have some complaining to do
(here's your long post warning let's goooooooo)
so, thing i've encountered so far:
anything completely fenced in counts as a room in ts4 even though it doesn't have floors or a roof so your horsies will complain about being stuck inside for too long even though they are very clearly outside. at first i thought it was just the free spirit trait but other horses started getting uncomfortable soon after... to fix this, delete a part of the fencing, rebuild it elsewhere and then move it back in the empty spot, so the game doesn't register it as a completed room
horses will play with their ball... untill they don't. the ball has been placed with moveobjects off and they have plenty of space but... no ball. buying a new ball or changing the balls colour helps so i dunno... maybe the horse just wants a change of ball every now and then
after placing a tiny home lot and moving in my household, going into buy mode doesn't let me buy anything because it shows 'business funds' instead of the household funds... the household does not own a business. changing the lot type to tiny home before placing from the gallery seems to fix this
doors won't stay locked after loading a save if you click the "lock door for all..." (chicken, goats, horses etc) option. i don't know if it's a bug or a 'realistic' feature but chicken WILL NOT stay contained whatever you do. horses can be kept to their pen by 'lock for individual sim' option because they are sims and not objects, i guess
every time your sims cleans the chicken coop they will throw out all the hatchable eggs you've placed in there - be wary of your sim cleaning up because they might autonomously throw out all your baby eggs too
sim gets stuck brushing a cat for hours and won't stop until i make them stop
sims keep coming over and making de-stressing decoctions on the grill
at some point every time i made my sim mount their horse, both would just glitch next to each other. reloading the save helped. they still sometimes mount & instantly demount their horse though and you have to do a little dance to make your sim stay on the damn horse
minor visual glitches like outlines staying after deleting rooms, rooflines becoming invisible, glitched water appearing when using terrain tools and, of course, countless animations not matching up with sims/objects
as stated above, i tested 3 different saves (including starting a new save twice) and could replicate these even in a 100% vanilla game with an empty mod folder and mods disabled in settings
this may not seem like much in the grander scale of the sims 4 (honestly, that statement alone is yikes) but it did considerably sour my enjoyment of the expansion. i play a lot of video games in general and this is literally the only one that gives me so much headache...
#ts4 horse ranch#ts4 critical#i dunno block this tag if you want no negativity on the dash i get it#kazroze.txt

people’s takes on fic stuff fucking baffles me. i see people going on and on about word counts and complaining when updates “take too long” or refusing to read wips entirely bc they’re too impatient and i just… i cannot understand this shit.
i know that the majority of these people have had to write something for a class in school at some point. it took you weeks to write a five paragraph essay for a grade. most of the time, that’s less than 1k words.
there’s nanowrimo, where the usual goal is to write 50k words in one month. which is understood by participants as an incredibly challenging goal. it’s hard. most people who start don’t complete it in time. it takes a lot of dedicated time. it’s exhausting. and there are so many fics out there that are significantly longer than this - and you can read them for fucking free!!!
it breaks my brain how people don’t seem to understand how much effort and time it actually takes to write something.
it’s even wilder to me that people will just skip over fics entirely based off of how many hits or kudos they have. why even bother searching by ship or tags or what have you if you’re just going to discount 90%+ of your search based off of how many people read it before you. the more common place that becomes, the less amazing fics will end up getting read in the first place. it takes hits to make hits.
all of this is just so wild to me i cannot wrap my brain around it. and i hate going into fic writing for this fandom knowing damn well that i’m in a fandom where people who might genuinely enjoy something i spent hours of my time on will never even consider glancing at it because i’m not “popular” enough. i don’t publish fics for clout and approval, but there’s a reason why i share them in the first place. i’ve written plenty of fics just for myself, or for a few friends to read. but if i take the time to publish and post something, it’s because i want to share it! i put it out there hoping that other people might enjoy it like i do. because sharing that feels good. and it sucks to think that there are people who might have shared in that enjoyment with me, who will never see it because we’ve started putting this weird standard on shit.
i don’t know about other writers, but that’s exactly what i’m talking about when i say that fandom dynamics as of late are sucking the joy out of creating. i write because it brings me joy. i publish/post/share because seeing something i wrote bring someone else joy, brings me even more joy. and watching this whole shitstorm of people being shit to fic writers or completely discounting most fics for one reason or other, just cuts that down so much for me.
idk i have a lot of thoughts and feeling about this but at the end of the day it frustrating and, at times, a bit heartbreaking.
honestly you said it all. all of this.
one thing i wanna add is in regards to nanowrimo: 50k words in a month (1667 words a day btw) is incredibly hard and a lot of people don't manage it, but a common factor i've witnessed between those that have done it is that they went into it having fully planned out their stories. because writing isn't only putting down words on paper, you have to figure out what to write, if you want a great plot you usually have to plan for that, and even once you've written it all you still have to go over everything and edit it. there is even more time and effort that goes into writing that people don't see and just take for granted. it's absolutely a labor of love, and the labor part is strongly emphasised here, and still we offer it for free only for people to be bitchy about it
i just hope you keep the joy of it all, because the entire point of fandom should be that it's done for fun and with the purpose of bringing you fun...
sending you all the love there, at least we are enough people in this fandom who write and draw and cosplay and make edits and all the other things there are for creation that we can support each other through it all
#asks#gotta be honest i didnt even know you could send asks this long i thought there was a character limit of like tweet length...#giving you a hug rn#keep on writing#itll get better again eventually#it has to cause the only other alternative is that the fandom disappears completely

so this is a big ol' headcanon dump that elaborates on some stuff from this post! i was gonna break up this post into parts since each one is unrelated to the other, but i decided to keep it all in one place for the sake of convenience uvu
it might be the influence of cyrillo's fc bc the guy's got some feral expressions, but!! i've decided that while he is an attentive lover who enjoys the softer side of sex, cyrillo does have his moments when he prefers to be rough. he's busy and stressed and has to put his own feelings on the backburner pretty often, so it's kinda?? a way of letting loose and releasing all his pent up frustration. this is only done with consent ofc!! but think of it as the physical equivalent to complaining to your partner about all the annoying stuff that happened at your job :' )
it's also a lil bit about having control over someone who is willing to put their pleasure in his hands. it's about their trust in him to take care of them, to be rough yet not cruel. it makes him all mushy and hard at once <3 ASDFG
there is a lot that cyrillo enjoys or is willing to try; he's been around for a while, so he's had plenty of time to figure out what he likes and plenty of time to get over any embarrassment he might have felt at one time. if you approach him about sex/kinks/etc., he'll discuss it with you without batting an eye, without judgement, and without pressure. he wants his partner to be comfortable above all else <3
while cyrillo is picky-ish with actual relationships since he doesn't have much time for real commitment, he has no qualms about casual sex. he has friends/partners who he goes to when he's in the mood, though! his libido fluctuates a bit thanks to how busy he keeps himself and the fatigue that comes with that.
cyrillo enjoys the thrill of semi-public sex. he prefers a closed door or somewhat secluded area -- like a rooftop -- bc he doesn't want to actually be seen, but pls know he's gonna have the biggest smirk on his face if anyone figures out what y'all did asdfj that being said, cyrillo finds it really appealing to try and get his partner to make noise when they really should be quiet, and he's a menace for that!! someone walks near the section of the garden where he has you splayed out? better not get too loud and draw their attention 'cause he ain't stopping : ) someone knocks on the door he has you pressed against?? he's gonna make you speak through the door even though he hasn't stopped moving : ) he is : ) the worst : )
once again gonna stress that cyrillo doesn't do anything risky or rough without knowing his partner's boundaries! it's not enjoyable unless both of them are having a good time, so prior to any situation like what i discussed above, he'll always have a conversation about it and likely establish a safe word or something. just bc he's a menace doesn't mean his lover has to indulge him all the time u3u
#you will perceive him but not perceive me for thinking this deeply about cyrillo ASDF#i'm gonna stop myself from rambling in the tags bc this post is already long :' ))#it's just a little spice ♥︎ | n.s.f.w.#headcanons | cyrillo

My Fault by Mercedes Ron
My rating: 4 of 5 stars Where do I begin… This book was so much yet so little … -comparing it to the movie - I really thought it was gonna be the typical book>movie, but in reality its book -Now the book on its own. - Wow. Wow, wow, wow… What a shitshow. I must say its been a while since ive read a book that took itself so seriously, going over very serious topics and managing to give me the most wattpad like story. It really helped me that ive seen the movie before reading the book because that way i coould immagine the characters, since the only description of Noah and Nick are - good looking, hot, eye color and hair. I swear Noah has been described as Honey color eyes and long blond hair more times that ive put the book down and trust me theres been a lot. The cheesy scenes were just bad, i thought the movie overdid it , but it actually townd it down. The fact that they didnt follow the book to the tee really saved them a lot of embaracment. So many unececery will they wont they scenes, so many jelous scenes and not to mention the were hiding that were together yet let everyone see us scenes .. really, that was nececery? The writing in the first half of the book really had me, it was good, the flow of the story was good and i could see where it was going and i was down with it, but then the second half happaned and …. Let me explain. FIRST HALF OF THE BOOK We get to follow both characters as they are going trough a new unusual chapter in there life. Noah is a 17yo girl who is leaving her identity behind ( as it is for every teenager - friends, home, relationship if there is one) because her mother remaried a ritch guy. BTW ID RATHER READ RAHELAS AND WILL STORY THAN THIS. For Nick its welcoming 2 strangers into his life which are there to stay for more than he is compfortable with, a stepmom and stepsister. Hes not so excited about this since hes been having a secret life behind his fathers back and now keeping it behind 3 is gonna make it dificult sooner or later. So we get to see how these 2 worlds crash together, a very enemies to lovers kind of tale. Noach keeps entering Nicks world without really wanting to but more going with the flow as she is trying to fit in the new world that she has found herself in, and Nick slowly getting to see that there is more to Noah and her mom than just trying to find a fast cashgrab and dipp before its too late. Its really fun to see them fight because as sai its 2 worlds mixing , meaning 2 perspectives mixing and kindoff getting to see the same pov. It gives off Pride and Prejudice 2005 vibes . So on paper something very interesting, enjoyable and quite fun to read. The second part I consider the second half of the book to begin once the 2 have had sex because after that they have stated that they are in a relationship. Once these 2 have had sex its like both there brains have turned into mush. They both are sudenly accting like 12 yo who just cant keep this very secret thing from anyone even tho they are both well in the age to act mature, at least Nick is, i get Noah being this jellous little girl who gets these tantrums and wants to jump Nick, i dont get Nick a 22 yo who has had plenty relations with girls, to act all jelous and like a little kid who cant play with his favoure toy anymore ( his dick) because his mom grounded him ( the vagina he wants to fuck belongs to his stepsister) and thats enough reason to lash out and hit everyone and enything. Its giving very much Lege of Legend player wibes who hit the wall. Now to justify the rating - 4/5- i know ive complained quite a lot about the book but honestly ive enjoyed it, yes ive roled my eyes and tossed the book away and complained about it , and still it was fun to read and fantasize about the world of Nicholas and his father Will. asjfkld your tim feelings are so relatable it truly is the "i dont like fanon tim drake" -> "i dont really like his character very much actually"-> "everytime he shows up i sigh and groan until he leaves" pipeline.
granted for me i think the hate is exacerbated by fandom and editorial but when ive seen multiple "jason would be an incel" takes by tim enjoyers despite tim cheating on every girl hes dated and being rude to like every woman he works with, i cant help it
EXACTLY i know for a fact that if u look at my posts from like a year ago i made/reblogged plenty of pro-tim posts. fast forward to now and ive been complaining about him for like 2 straight hours fhdkasfhakjf when i first started getting into comics i didnt mind fanon tim, then i learned more about canon tim and started hating fanon tim, then i learned even more about canon tim and started hating canon tim too lmaoooo
i completely agree that a lot of my own hate stems from other peoples opinions of him tbh. a lot of tim fans will dumb down the other robins to make tim seem smarter and cooler when really hes kind of. at the same level as all of them. don't get me wrong i do think that tim is smart but some people take it to the level of "hes so smart that everyone turns to him for guidance when they need someone for computers or detective work :0" like??? everyone in the batfamily was trained by batman to be a detective i promise they don't need tims help. im tired of seeing people that are like "dick calls tim every time something goes wrong with his computer because tim would know how to do it 😳🤣" bc??? dick is a full grown man that has led multiple teams and been a vigilante for years i don't think he needs tims help with anything
i don't think ive seen the jason incel thing tbh but about tim and the women he works with!! one thing that bothers me is that a lot of writers will want to make tim seem Desirable so they have girls like... throw themselves onto him. like cissie said she had a crush on tim in young justice but like. its never shown except for one time she kisses him???? and then greta also likes him and literally tries to kill steph because shes dating him,,,,, like. why r we doing this. and don't even get me fucking started on the part in teen titans where rose gets drunk and tries to fuck him ????????? literally why.
i don't think that tim is rude to EVERY woman he works with (and like i said before a lot of that is just his writers being sexist and not really about tim) but theres def a pattern. like just off the top of my head theres the time that cass wore barbara's costume for a night and tim was like "whoa batgirl 😯 you look so hot " then there was the time that he acted like cassie was being selfish for breaking up with him and when he was constantly rude to rose because of what she did while she was being drugged and manipulated
but yeah. sorry tim fans but i cant get over some of his weird shit
#this is again just me dumping my thoughts in a way that i hope makes sense#i just have a lot of opinions but i don't have the brain capacity today for it to work#so i hope this is all readable

Personally I found the Pokemon Direct, fine.
While I won’t say I don’t entirely understand some of the disappointment some felt but at the same time like to a point especially those who get like irrationally angry/ complain about things that were by and large never even a remote guarantee of being announced - that’s brought about by their own fault.
Nothing wrong with getting excited or even having particular hopes for things you want to see but like you know I think some people need to learn to be reasonable about it.
Especially those hypocritical bunch that complain when there’s no new game (be it main or not) mention but will also turn around and complain and rip on Nintendo/ Game Freak for pumping out yet another game so soon after the release of the most recent. And complain that it’s gonna be so rushed and bad.
1) I have to ask do you get the bored of the games so fast that only after a few months you demand the company pump out something brand new?? If so I think that’s more a you problem then a game problem (Personally I’m still finding plenty of enjoyment especially with my friends)
2) Would you expect that with any other game at all to suddenly announce a new game after only just releasing something I’d hope not- like I wouldn’t even expect a teaser to say ‘hey we’re in the planning for a new thing for the future’
3) As for remakes sure maybe we’ll get them eventually but again BDSP has only been out for like a year i hardly expect anything relating to Gen 5 for awhile
4) Personally confused by the expectations that’d we’d get the old gen pokemon games so soon. Yes with GB and GBA on virtual I won’t be surprised if they arrive eventually but they only just rolled it out and seems like there are still plenty of other games to be rolled out yet as is- including in there add that showed the Pokemon tcg
5) Alright I can agree it kinda is a downer to have to wait so long for the DLC but you know what if it gives them that much more time to polish it and make it fun I’m all for it
6) Holy shit whether true or not I think some may put to much stock in leaks/ or at least get to stuck on one idea - despite it not being a guarantee and could either be fully false or just implying any number of things (i.e like how I get the feeling a lot jumped on the idea of gen5 remakes with that one leak having gen5 mons, when at best it seems like it was just connected to that fact it looks like we’re getting some of them in the DLC stuff.
- Look nothing against theorizing or having wishes of what you’d want to see, hell I do it to but I really think so many need to take a breath, relax and realize that there is every chance things aren’t gonna happen that way- even if it’s something that seems a guarantee to happen eventually.
7) Okay sure I’ll agree this Pokemon Day Direct wasn’t nearly as packed or ‘hype’ if you will, as some they’ve had in the past but at least for me personally it also wasn’t anything worse then I’d expect.
- Generic updates for their various mobage games
- Finally getting proper confirmation on Pokemon Sleep was fun and nice to finally get
- the Tcg collectors things was cool honestly
- and of course DLC confirmation that had always seemed pretty likely
A bit average of a direct with no major reveals but like I don’t think every Direct Pokemon or Nintendo in general needs to be some big, massive packed thing.
And personally I think it ads to the interest of what might happen come next year- perhaps next year will be the year of big reveals where they pull the curtain and tease us with new things being worked on.
Again feeling let down or disappointed totally valid and I get it, while not expected a part of me almost hoped maybe they’d announce later this year pokemon Pinball coming to virtual or something (Unlikely as hell for sure but would have been fun) but going full rage... like that wouldn’t even feel acceptable if GameFreak suddenly came out and announced their final pokemon game or something.
I don’t normally says this, but genuinely I think those that do get unreasonably upset / angry over something as small as a Pokemon Direct not having something they want / not living to expectations need to go out and touch grass, or at least get some fresh air take a deep breath, and realize no matter how frustrating it is it’s not worth getting bent out of shape for.
Plus isn’t the saying No news is good news?
For all we know behind the scenes a select group of people be it in house or outsourced- are in the planning stages for some spinoff or a remake or gen 10, whatever they plan to release next onto their game library but are still in such early stages there’s no point in talking about it yet, have nothing to tease or reveal (I’m not saying they do but hypothetically on the slim chance it is happening just saying)
#pokemon#obviously I know not everyone is like this and I'm sure majority are chill people#but it's always baffling how many will just have a fit because they either did or didn't reveal something#obvs you can't please everyone but its more the extreme reaction some people have that gets me#espcially when its for things there were nerver guarenteed/promised anyway#Frankly I'd think more would be exicted not only for the extended wait time for the dlc which means game freak has more time on it#and that they aren't announcing any other new big projects at present

It Begins (Again)!! Switching it up with Picross and Pokémon
Hello and welcome to the new format I'll be using to review game content!! (Those who know me outside of Tumblr know I have a personal site on Neocities where I’ve been posting mini game reviews for a while now. Thankfully this new format lets me start cross-posting to Tumblr, in addition to my own site!) While the old format was fun, it felt a little too restrictive. I want to be able to just talk about video games without putting them into categories; plus I realized it was kind of silly to have categories labeling games as "bad" or whatnot. I've decided that if I simply don't like a game, I just won't talk about it here. But almost every game has something I *do* like in them somewhere, and as much as I'm sure to complain and criticize, I'll include games here because they're worth playing one way or another.
Starting with something I wish I had checked out sooner (and definitely a game worth playing), Picross is a pleasantly fun puzzle game that I recently picked up (I'm playing Picross S8 on the Switch, but you can play it for free on sites like http://liouh.com/picross). Each Picross title will give you a large number of nonograms to solve, which reveals a cute little pixel art image when you've completed it! It's a fairly simple concept but the puzzles in Picross S are a fun challege and there's a variety of kinds of puzzles to choose from (such as Regular, Big Picross, and Color Picross) that keeps each type feeling fresh. I haven't played a true, pure puzzle game in a while so I was expecting to be a little bored with Picross but I think the straightforwardness actually lends a lot to how enjoyable Picross is; it's easy to pick up whenever, whether for a long session of puzzle cracking or for when you need a quick 20-ish minute break. There are a lot of different Picross games, but if you'll pick up any of them, I've seen it recommended that you start from the most recent title and then work your way backwards in release order. I think I agree with that, since Picross S8 has a lot of helpful tutorials and general gameplay polish that I really enjoyed having, and which might not be available in earlier games.
...And also, speaking of complaining, I finished the new Pokémon Violet game that came out last month. I'm in a place where I've decided I'm not going to be buying Pokémon games anymore because their release schedule and quality drops have really started to grind on me, but thankfully I have found ways to play Violet without...spending 60 dollars...so I did that. Without that price tag I was technically able to play the game without the pressure of large personal investment, but that didn't stop the cracks from showing on this one. Honestly it's a perfectly fine game; I had plenty of fun with it, and would end each session excited to get back to playing later. I sunk a good 30+ hours into this thing, so there's definitely something there. Any way you go about it, Pokémon has always had a pretty solid and enjoyable gameplay formula, and despite the new open world feature that element is still very much intact here. However, as much as I enjoyed it, I feel a fair amount of my enjoyment was centered on the story, my favorite parts being the animated cutscenes, which look genuinely amazing. In contrast, when I had to do Pokémon battles inbetween this unraveling story, I found myself getting increasingly irritated, as it started to feel like unengaging and unnecessary padding. The ending of the whole thing is brilliant, and generally feels worth the time I spend getting there, but I can't help but wonder if I could have gotten the same amount of enjoyment out of watching someone else play, or better yet, a highlight reel that cuts out all the slog and boring bits (which there is plenty of). I definitely did not run through all the content and side-quests, but after the credits rolled, any urge I had to ever pick it up again just kind of evaporated. If I ever do, it will probably be when the DLC is released, which I will maybe play, and either way gleefully not pay for.
Aaaand that about wraps it up for my games played over the last few weeks! Not much to talk about for now but with school workloads I haven't had a lot of time to play or to get into new stuff. Hopefully during the next few weeks I can get to some indies I've had my eyes on for a while.... >:-]!
AND LASTLY, THE GAMES:
Picross S8 is available for $9.99 on: Nintendo Switch
Pokémon Violet is available for $59.99 on: Nintendo Switch
or...cough...romslab...dotcom...or somethin...cough...
Thanks for reading!! And see you next week!
