Why I don't speak much about Finrod (and my favorite Tolkien character tier list)

It's weird how much I love the type of character that Finrod is too, but I don't talk or overanalyze him as much as I do with Maglor.

I think this is because I can't say anything new about Finrod that has already been said. Finrod's literally perfection on this site.

You know I love him than Maedhros but no one would've guessed that because I just don't talk about them.

I fear that I've "over-posted" about Maglor... and to think, originally, I didn't want this blog to be a fandom one but it became that because of the things I'm interested in and/or think about daily. Hence the blog name and yeah I know this post is pure irony but that's kind of the point.

Anyway, here's my controversial list of my top ten favorite tolkien characters:

1.) Maglor (for complexity and too many other reasons I've posted about already)

2.) Finrod // Fingon (equal pure dorks)

3.) Eowyn (relatable a good thing indeed)

4.) Samwise Gamgee (yass king!)

5.) Manwe (naive dork of a king love him) // Gandalf/Olorin (Favorite chaotic introverted boi)

6.) Maedhros (he reminds me of someone I know so he's down here)

7.) Varda // Neinna // Luthien (yasss queenz!)

8.) Elrond // Finarfin (equal "gone through pain but still kind" lords)

9.) Fingolfin (relatable not a good thing)

10.) Faramir (he's husband material) // Aragorn (You deserved better on this list)

Honorable mention(s): The rest of the hobbit gang in Lotr, including Bilbo Baggins.

Gale's Countdown: Best to Worst, Ramona's Evil Exes (Scott Pilgrim)

The Rules:

I will be covering ALL mediums Comic, movie, video game and even Show

When I say Best, I mean in which their actions are the least Egregious, they are entertaining, and they are more palatable, The lower on the list the worse they are

I must view them by their most detestable actions, as determined by either medium

This is a subjective list based on my opinion, so feel free to put your thoughts and opinions on the list.

Spoilers for the Comic, the Show, the Movie and the Video game

The Best Ex: Roxie Richter

Roxie is probably the Evil Ex that is probably on the best terms with Ramona in all iteration (save the movie). Roxie was seen occasionally hanging out with Ramona in the comic, and while the Half Ninja did try to kill Ramona and Scott, its clear her reasons for being an Evil Ex are pretty justified. Ramona's dismissive nature of their relationship as a "Phase" and her leaving without a word was pretty damn heartbreaking.

And while she claims to be the most Emotionally intelligent, she has just as much trouble explaining her feelings as the other Exes do. But In Scott Pilgrim takes off we see her at her core and she just needed some damn closure. Which compared to the rest of the people on the list, she is the most justified.

The Second Best Ex: Mathew Patel

Okay so for a guy that only dated Ramona briefly in middle school and being a super petty Theater nerd... he isnt actually that Evil.

Yea he tries to play up his evil side, but he is actually a really polite dude. He sent Scott a warning about how the Evil Exes were going to attack him, and even took time to ensure Scott understood what was going on instead of just attacking him.

Sure in the Comic, Game and Movie we dont get much of his character, but in the Anime. We find out how after he won, he realized that the League was stupid and decided to Challenge Gideon after realizing this whole thing wouldnt actually win Ramona over. He eventually moves on with his life not even pursuing Ramona further, he rightfully Blames Gideon for his stupid assumptions and even BEATS GIDEON. Now Mathew is still a selfish jerk, but he is oddly not hostile towards Ramona and simply moves on with his life after this. Guess he just needed some self confidence to know his own worth was more than just the first guy to get defeated.

The Third best Ex: Lucas Lee

Bad boy skateboarder/ Action star. Lucas Lee.

In the Anime he is just kind of a Himbo that seems more angry with Todd than Ramona over how the relationship ended. In the movie and Comic he is not really caring much about the League and just decided to fight because why not. The comic has him at his worst which he simply says if Scott pays him 50 bucks he will simply leave him alone.

In this context he really hasnt done anything to Ramona and actually in the movie version asks how shes been casually. Regardless of the version Lucas never seemed to have any real negative views on Ramona. And He is arguably interchangable with Mathew, I do Put him lower because Lucas never called out how dumb the League actually was unlike Patel.

The Fourth Best/Fourth Worst Ex: Kyle & Ken Katayanag

I put them to share these rankings because they are interchangeable. No matter the story they both are always grouped together. The worst thing they did was Kidnap Kim and send robots to Attack Scott, but regardless of the version they arent outright hostile to Ramona but do blame the cheating fiasco on her. They are usually pretty chill outside of that and thats honestly the worst they get, they are just only sort of Asses but that is about it. They have a cool Robot though.

The Third Worst Ex: Todd Ingram

Ah Yes, the first Big Ex of Ramona's. They Dated throughout Highschool and then broke off when he left for Vegan School. He is probably the most Vanilla Scumbag, but he is actually even worse because he is Vegan and believes he is better than everyone else. And the Psychic powers that come with being Vegan... well He might have a point. But he is constantly cheating on his Girlfriend. And in the Show he ends up cheating and catches feelings for Wallace (who I am CONVINCED has a +7 Charisma boost) or Magic balls.

Anyway, regardless of iteration he is a serial cheater whether its in love, in a fight, or even on his Vegan Diet. He is also willing to punch girls for no reason other than they are annoying him. He punched the highlights out of Knives hair in most iterations, its f***ed up.

The Second Worst Ex: Scott Pilgrim (Specifically Even Older Scott)

Ramona once said that Scott was an evil ex just waiting to happen. but in the anime we actually get to see what that would be like. Take all of Scotts worst qualities, He dated a high schooler (no he didnt do anything but STILL), he cheated on girls, he would hide things from people, he wouldnt take responsibility for his own faults. And now have it where he is able to beat the Exes and get Ramona WITHOUT all of the emotional growth that let him realize he was an absolute Scumbag and needed to change.

In this timeline, Scott ended up separating from Ramona after a Rough patch, which lead to him trying to stop himself from ever dating Ramona by pulling him out of time to convince himself, but when that failed he trained for 10 YEARS gained the powers and Skills of ALL the Evil Exes then decided to fight EVERYONE in order to stop Scott From dating Ramona. Its arguable that he is probably the worst because he was more than willing to wipe out his own friend if needed just to achieve his goal. Showing how Tunnel vision Scott can be. In a way, Even Older Scott is Nega Scott fully realized. And is Ramona's most Dangerous Ex

The Worst Ex Gideon Gordon Graves

If anyone has read the Comic, Gideon is by far the Worst of the Evil Exes. Sure Scott of that other timeline maybe the most powerful, this Emotionally abusive prick is far and away the worst.

He created Emotional warfare to manipulate people, including Ramona. Messed with peoples memories, Was Physically and Emotionally abusive, His grand master plan was to gain complete control of the Glow, brain wash people, have Ramona get frozen and become one of his frozen Exes that he pulls out of stasis to Date whenever he gets board, (basically a sex slave)

The Anime REALLY cuts a lot of this out and makes him much less then he is, and the movie only has a control collar on Ramona where he is still an asshole control freak.

But the Comic REALLY goes out of the way where he is like Scott but at his ABSOLUTE WORST in every category.

Power maybe debated but when it comes to EVIL ex. there is no topping Gideon

The Big Ones

Arya Stark - I’ve been rooting for you since day 1 and while I don’t want you to win, your ass better be there to control the chaos of who is left

Brienne of Tarth - I never expected to love you as much as I do. Stay alive! Also, you deserve better than Jamie. He may seem like a weirdo, but give more Tormund a chance

Bronn - my buddy, my friend, my guy. Your ass better stay alive at least until you get your castle!

Cersei Lannister - I know you won’t last, but I want you to. Hopefully, wherever you end up there are elephants. (Also, if anyone is going to kill you it sure as hell better be Arya)

Davos Seaworth -  you are too pure for this world, I don’t care what people have told you 

Gilly - I just want you to be happy and feel loved and paid attention to.

The Hound - If Arya lives you have to! It’s a rule now. Brotp? 

Lyanna Mormon - I will need an entire box of tissues and therapy if anything happens to you. I don’t care how fucking noble it is!  Tiny Warrior - you went out like the badass fucking warrior you were. (Also, I am SO FUCKING GLAD I didn’t have to watch you die twice). You are by far my most favorite noble death

Meera Reed - I don’t know if we’ll ever see you again, but fuck Bran and your loyalty and kind spirit is appreciated by all.

Samwell Tarly - If you don’t start paying attention to Gilly when she talks I’m moving you to a different list. But like, don’t die. You can still be nice to your wife and listen to her regardless of what plot-important things are happening.

Sansa Stark - You’ve grown on me. Your mother would be proud. 

Tormund Giantsbane - You go get Brienne of Tarth and treat her like she deserves. Also, are you and Luke Skywalker somehow related bc this milk thing... (still alive? dead? I dont know? anyone?)

Tyrion Lannister - What would the world be like without your random philosophizing be? 

I suppose you should stay / I like you, but you’re not my faves / You still have plot potential that I might care about

Bran Stark - I’m just curious where your little prophetic, emotionless ass is going to lead us.

Eddison Tollett - You’re #cleanBronn! Bronn after a shower and a shave and a bit more dignity! What will we do without you? 

Ellaria Sand - Obviously you’ll die eventually, but you done dirty and now you get to pay. I won’t mind seeing that revenge play out a bit more.

Gendry - Arya might be sad? You’re not awful.

Grey Worm - You’re nice and brave and honorable. Also, I don’t want Missandei to be sad.

I rmb seeing someone do this a while ago but I dont rmb who :$ whoops sorry, but i thought it would be fun to rank my favourite books too :D (however there are some newer books that I dont have an opinion on yet and I think imma rank them at the end for which I’m most excited for).

The Old Books

1) The Crown and the Flame 1&2

Fantasy books are one of my favourite genres

kenna and dom are such wonderful friends

like what friend would die for me tbh

i think theyre cute as romantic partners too

2) The Freshman

you dont understand how many times i replayed this book lol

i basically played every route

i have a lot of the diamond choices ;]

i spent all my diamonds so that zack could get a man  and abbie and tlyer could get together T_T

i wanted them to be happy

and i genuinely really enjoyed this story

kinda sucked how u couldnt actually turn anyone down until the last chapter

i picked james 1st if ur wondering 

3) Rules of Engagement

this is a little too high on the list lol

tbh i think the premise of this story is a little lame

like talk about a shitty grandmother???

dont u love ur grandkids

dont u wanna give them a comfortable life when ur gone and cant care of them anymore

why are u forcing them to get married/date/get tattoos (i kinda understand forcing the party twin to be more serious but the rest is kinda ridiculous)

like u dead

u cant live vicariously through them

but i dont think the story is poorly written and i do enjoy playing it

although idk whats gonna happen with the MC dating 3 guys at once

like i know the bartender dude knows

but do the rest of them?

will they be okay with it?

will it blow up in our face?

4) Most Wanted

i didn’t really enjoy this story :(

i dont ship sam and dave

Cassandra was coo though

So was the trio in the detective department??

5) The Freshman 2 

I was unhappy with this book for a million reasons

james hates liars but u basically lied to his family for him (so he already knows ur capable of doing that)

i just really didnt think he had a right to be mad at the MC =/ cause it wasnt her secret to tell

like if anything it says a lot about the MC’s loyalty

which was already proven when she LIED TO UR PARENTS FOR U

i hated how the MC was forcing kaitlyn to come out

i felt like the MC was a really shitty friend in this book

I really just didnt enjoy this book :/

i ended up not replaying to see what dating other characters would be like

The New Books

1) Haunting of Braidwood Manor

I love reading scary stories

as long as the MC isn’t deliberately trying to get herself killed lol I think I will really enjoy this book

yknow like how in scary movies the protagonist is always doing stupid shit that gon get them killed LOL

2) Endless Summer

If you can’t tell by my love of scary stores, I have a thing for stories that are like “dont know the whole truth gotta find out” (which i guess is strange cause I didnt like most wanted)

diego is rly cute

pls let him date the male MC

3) Love Hacks

I know this is kinda low on the list but I’m super excited for this story too!

As long as you don't actually have to end up with Mark I’m gucci :D

i got my eyes on Brooke LOLOLOLOLOL

but ur supposed to go on a date w/ 10 guys

so maybe someone else will come along

either way, i really liked the dynamic b/w the friends

i’m not looking forward to breaking up amy and mark though

like i dont mind if they like had an intervention and said like “hey ur relationship isnt healthy, u guys should maybe call it quits, or work on ur problems, u know fighting in front of friends isnt healthy and all”

but if its like a stupid plan that’s gonna hurt mark and amy i’m not down =/

4) Freshman Book 3

I know I said I really like Zig so far, and he could be new potential LI as I no longer like any of the other 3 (as romantic interest as least)

I guess I was just too bummed out by the 2nd book I’m not looking forward to the 3rd book anymore.

also (i have 2 files lol) in the file where im dating kaitlyn I picked the I’m not gay option and yet... the MC is still considered gay if u state that Zig is hard not to notice (she like says shes looking for someone female) and if ur not dating kaitlyn ur considered straight too which bummed me out more than the other thing

but i guess that would be hard to code

i did appreciate how i could say i’m not exclusively interested in girls though
