I have a Mega Man AU where Roll was the prototype to the robot masters instead of Blues

and I remembered there was a similar sort of swap scenario in an episode of season two of recut where Rock and Proto swapped roles temporarily

So I thought I'd ask, what do you think would be different if Proto had swapped roles with Roll instead of Rock? I, for one, imagine proto just punching the robot masters instead of having the arm gadget that roll has.

So for Recut, like if Roll was the older sister who became Wily's second-in-command, and Rock and Proto were twins? Lots of thoughts on this (this would be really fun to draw too~ like one of those style swaps I did awhile back, with Red Bomber Roll and Jumpsuit/Utility Arm Proto or whatever)

So Roll is still Roll, but like even cooler? So more of a 'cool badass' with the effortless charisma canon!Proto has, rather than a 'hotheaded badass' that canon!Roll is, yet also with a personal beef against Dr. Light that caused the original rift for her to defect (Maybe she too got bored?)

Meanwhile the sibling rivalry would be much more intense between Rock and Proto, with Proto especially feeling like he's been passed over. Not sure if this would make Proto more tempted to join his older sister, or if like canon!Roll he just blindly hates Wily and his second-in-command too much to ever consider this lol. But I think things would be very bitter between him and Rock at times

As for Proto's weapon, idk all the Light siblings are inventors like their father to an extent; Proto definitely likes hand-to-hand combat so punching definitely makes sense, I could still see him maybe making his own blaster like Roll did too, or maybe he does his own thing where he specializes in combat vehicles (like mini fighter jets, or a skycycle equipped with laser canons!)

Since Roll is the older sister, she'd definitely try to coax her younger brothers to join Wily, but also strive to get them to get along with each other (which they'd probably hate lol, though would also grudgingly think she is pretty cool for a bad guy)

So basically the sibling drama would still mostly be between Rock and Proto hahaha

But the real question is...would Roll have the scarf, or would that still be Proto's thing? Hmmm

I've been thinking about doing uber. How long do you drive for $200-$300 and usually what time of day? Any sage advice?

i really do enjoy doing uber! however, like most jobs, no job is perfect, there are shitty moments that make you wanna unalive yourself after a shift and that's normal. there are moments where i'm happy as f*ck driving to different areas in virginia and sightseeing during my breaks and then there's stressful moments where you can't find the person to pickup at the airport because of a language barrier (happened to me recently, big yikes). here's my unsolicited experience/advice:

the best parts about doing uber: you can get paid instantly, so if you got rent money due before the month ends, and you make like $700 from uber in a week, then instantly deposit that. there's an uber debit card that you should get, i use that. all the money you make instantly goes there and i just use it as a separate checking account to buy drinks and groceries and stuff, completely separate from my main.

another perk of doing uber is...obviously nobody tells you what to do. there's no boss telling you to clock in, you can just do a shift whenever, skip a day, work all day, etc. besides like customer support if something bad happens. which i heard is pretty shit btw so good luck. i love the freedom that uber gives me. i decided to catch up on grinding in my MMORPG (maplestory lol) and take like 1-2 days off. i can just go back whenever and that's beautiful. i love being my boss.

you can do early morning shifts near busy shopping centers, airports, and get decent money. i personally avoid the airport though, but i have done airport rideshares. IMO do not do uber after the sun sets, obviously #1 if you're a young looking woman driving alone at night you're probably a target, and #2 it's just spooky and you should be tucked in at home playing video games when it's dark. it's hard to see the road at night, it can be dangerous. just do early morning, evening, but when you see that sun getting lower, drive home asap.

so you can choose from doing rideshares (driving people) or food deliveries, i personally do both. if you don't like people, you can just turn on food. you legit just go inside a mcdonalds or even a fancy 5 star restaurant in the city, and then drive to the person's house and drop it off. for food deliveries the tips are calculated like 1 hour later, so if you get like very little money after dropping off your first food order, just be patient and check back later. the most important thing is choosing good orders, don't do something that's like $5 for 10 miles. always do something that's like $10 for 5 miles. your car's health is very important, don't milk it too hard.

on that note, cars...you obviously use your car to drive people and food around. make sure your car is well kept. if you're driving a piece of garbage, it's honestly kinda good to "milk" it with uber until it finally combusts. while doing uber, there's a lot of risk you're putting yourself in. only sign up for the job if you consider yourself a good driver with 0 accidents in the past like 5 years or so.

idk there's a lot about uber, i don't wanna yap your ears off. if you're interested, go on youtube and type in uber driver stuff. there's nice youtube shorts of it, and full on youtube guides about uber/doordash/grubhub etc. they're all considered "gig" work so it's not like a 9-5 which is what i loathe and avoid doing in my mid 20s.

if you sign up, i'll give you some personal tips i made up:

keep a gallon of water or two in your car. snacks too, but they might melt if your area is hella hot during the summer. keep yourself loaded. you'll be driving a lot. i do tend to eat out at fast food restaurants or stuff like panera before, during, or after shifts.

calculate the distance (mileage) and the money $$$ involved when you get a request. do not take bad orders. bad orders are like, very little pay (customers tipping like shit) for HIGH mileage which is basically you just losing money. rule of thumb is like, 1.5x or 2x the pay for the mileage. for example, 5 mile food delivery for $10 total payout.

when picking orders, be aware that if you do a long distance trip (like 10 miles+) you're gonna end up in a different city or area in the state that you live in. do not drive too far away, because you eventually have to drive back home. and sometimes you end up in sketchy areas, so stay safe and make sure you know your state, the roads, and how to navigate. your GPS is your best friend.

last movie: Rewatched Hell House 2 in full, started watching Butterfly Kisses last night but couldn't stay up to finish it. Trying to get in the mood for spooky season and last year I got really into the found footage sub-genre.

sweet, spicy or savory: Savory...not good with spicy (lol says a woman who works with chipotle peppers. We mill dehydrated pods and it was so strong the other day I legit threw up on my way out) but on a mild level I'm okay with it. Do like sweet stuff but I do have limits with it.

relationship status: Single, probably always gonna be that way and that's fine lol. But if I happen to meet someone maybe I won't be as much of a coward as I have been with other potential relationships I could have had...it also sucks cause I can't say I'm surrounded with the most pleasant relationships (my parents especially)

current obsession: Primarily Alan Wake, secondary Ilkka Villi and really just the Remedy Verse as a whole--I think work's just beating me down too much to enjoy really anything right now but god do I just crave for the atmosphere and aesthetic of Alan Wake 2 right now

tea or coffee: Coffee though I'm not against tea at all and will admit I haven't drank as much coffee as I used to, I stopped during one summer cause it was too hot and I think I may have lost my idk taste? tolerance? for black coffee but I do get iced french vanilla coffee from mcdonalds like once a week lol. (really I just drink a lot of celsius for my daily caffiene fix)

the last thing i googled: Rune Factory 5 cause I saw it's on sale on the Nintendo e-shop and I'm debating getting it even though I have tons of other games I should be playing and let's be real, I'm just gonna continue playing Alan Wake 2 for the tenth time tomorrow instead of even playing the recently bought Star Wars Outlaws 😂😂 but RF5 is like, 20 bucks and that's the cheapest I've ever seen it so it can't hurt just to get it in the library and maybe start it later

So Mega.lop.olis is an actual mindfuck. Like the visuals are so incredibly cool but if you don't pay close attention it will seem like random and complete nonsense.

Despite everyone saying how bad it is, its actually not? I found it to be really good with a good story that goes into a pretty deep discussion about our way of living. (Again if you're paying attention!)

Now onto the other stuff (that I was screaming about last night)

They outright say my boy has mania and given how a certain scene goes and the story that goes with it it is very very deeply implied that my love suffers from the same mental illness I do which is very unfortunate but I instantly could relate to him on a deeper more understanding level. Ce.s.ar went through an episode and did some not so great things and my heart absolutely broke for him. As stated last night, the moment it started I instantly knew what was happening before it became aware to audience.

Much like my irl self and the woman who birthed me, he does not get on well with his mother. We both have very very shitty mothers (our fathers aren't in the picture. This also contributes to Ce.s.ar's moods and again my heart breaks for him because he's just so sweet and his mother is so....not...)

Pretty sure my boy cannot die, like.. ever. I yelled in the theater last night mainly because loud sound and what happened to him (he got shot in the right side of his face ;A; survived though by using the very stuff he discovered to create, to heal his face. The surgeons used it for him)

I did not like the canon love interest that was happening. Ya know despite my raging jealousy lol like just viewing it, they would have been better off as rivals(?) Granted she helps him in a huge way when someone tries to lie and say he's done (x) things and proves he is innocent but in terms of relationship all I saw was someone following him around (literally stalking him in her car with her friend) and then it's just a weird little timeskip of "oh we work together now" but doesn't say or show what she actually does?

Also what confused me is Ce.s.ar's ability to stop time. Well not so much him in general but more so...can anyone use it? Because there's a scene (blah blah canonxcanon) where she gets him to think about her to try and stop time because he seemed to have lost the ability after his big episode. It works and thats what kicks off their relationship? But then their relationship isn't really..idk concrete? Its so hard to explain but I did not connect to her and his relationship. Nothing made me root for them as a couple in the way the movie thought I might would??

I was expecting softly spoken always serious. While I got it in certain scenes from him, he's actually so playful and silly which is so fucking great for me because I too am very playful and silly. He can also be loud like his voice can be very commanding and im like.."h-h..hey ~♡'

Also it seems like more than one person has a certain type of power? Ce.s.ar could stop time and his partner before the main love interest can hypnotize people.

his love interests father is responsible for making sure his dead wife's body was never found??? Hullo!? And then its touched upon a little bit but then the movie treated Ce.s.ar and the girls dad as if it was completely forgotten by the end if the movie like after that reveal it was still the dad hating him and Ce.s.ar was just....??? Still wanting his praise and approval?? I really did not like that. He should have been pissed! I mean the man convicted Ce.s.ar of killing his own wife which wasn't the case. Due to Ce.s.ar's untreated bip.olar he (like me) was deemed 'too much' and sadly, unfortunately, his wife couldn't take it and she did take her own life but it was that girls father that made it look like he killed her and Ce.s.ar was convicted (but acquitted shortly after)

So I'm taking my man, from everything. My boy now, I'm going to show him all the love and compassion that he deserves and show him he's not alone, that he doesn't have to settle for just anyone who strolls into his life, I will hold him and tell him he isn't a burden, that he is lovable and so much more than the disorder that plagues him because in that regard we are the same— we sometimes do and say things without knowing we don't have the same rationality as other people do when we are struggling but thats okay, he'll have me to lean on, we'll weather it together ♡

I am sad he has what I have but also at the same time, I don't feel as alone anymore, this isn't just me going "I hc him with bip.olar" the movie makes it pretty obvious that he actually has it. Condensed human suffering sims style since someone asked under the cut

She was my 5th generation for my last legacy play through and I made her a famous writer but she had the erratic personality trait and then something else I can't rememeber but it caused her to have a tough time. Then she gained quirks from her fame, emotion bomb and something else. I had the funds and I thought ability so I had her have kids but she had twins then I had her have another kid and it was fucking twins again.

It was horrible. I could barely keep her in the mood to take care of herself. It was dicey with the first babies but then I thoughtlessly made her have that back to back pregnancy.

She was basically losing it all the time. The fears update was hella glitchy then too so she kept constantly developing fears and it was like I would get her the fear be gone potion and she would have another one a day later. At one point I got fed up and left it she was afraid of a dead end job (girl you are a freelancer and disgustingly wealthy what. I decided to imagine her crying all the time and being unable to write was the issue instead lol) the dark, ghosts and idk something else I can't remember.

I couldn't get her consistently chilled out enough to take care of the kids even though she was home all the time because I just had her freelance writing books. I tried keeping her husband home and have him quit his job to help but it wasn't enough with four toddlers. I hired a nanny and then would hire them again when the nanny left.

I was starting to get so bummed out like omg what do I do this horrible and this woman is so miserable, crying all the time, too upset to even write most of the time, and these toddlers are not properly taken care of at all I kept also getting the warnings to feed them or they would get taken away because I couldn't keep up with dealing with her needs and the toddlers via the husband whose sole purpose became toddler care and the damn nanny that kinda sorta helped but not always.

Plus the high chairs were like always glitching too so half the time it was a struggle to even get them fed in the high chair or someone would keep taking them out of the high chair unprompted before they could eat. And then this x4 damn kids.

I aged up the kids using the birthday cakes super fast once I decided to give up and they all had whatever it is called the tough childhood trait or some shit. And moved them all out switching to one of the kids and left her there alone to do whatever.

Later I moved her in with one of her adult kids family and she was like still all over the place but she pretty much just did her writing and gardening until she died.

She was awful as a ghost too she was always red and breaking everything but I let her do her thing and take her rage out on the plumbing and appliances for a long time until I put her in the household inventory forever in the next move when I focused on her grandkid. If it was possible in the game for her ghost to light the house on fire or blow it up I would have let her do it tbh.

I love dinosaurs (some of my favorites include Archaeopteryx, Australovenator, and Baryonyx, Minmi, Oviraptor, and Yi qi) comic books (mostly Suicide Squad but you already know that by now), and I'm trying to get into cars because I want to be an automechanic, since my grades weren't good enough for paleontology and I suck at art. College wasn't right for me and being an automechanic is probably like... A trade school thing, right? I also like Transformers. I got a mullet at one point, but it grew out a bit lol. I'm kinda clumsy, which is pretty evident since my glasses keep breaking lol. Not like I can afford new ones so I guess I'm using duck tape and super glue to keep the frames in... 2 pieces I guess. I guess it's just duck tape keeping the ear things on. I really got into old monster movies in Middle School because of a book called the encyclopedia of monsters. From like... The really old ones like The Blob That Ate Everything to the ones from to the slightly more recent ones but they're still decades old, like the Alien Franchise. Not too big of a fan of regular (?) horror movies. Technically I haven't seen most of the alien movies, but I really liked Alien VS Predator so I think that counts enough. I know I've already told you this but I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole of wilderness survival and eventually wound up finding a channel about boomerangs and the occasional Australian wildlife video (there's one titled Kangaroo Maggots. He finds a kangaroo corpse at the side of the road and maggots are inside of it. Really fucking gross. 0/10. Do not recommend if you hate maggots. Don't know why I watched that specific video honestly, but all the rest are good). Which lead me to another channel about Australian animals. I'm American and idk how tf I got from how to cook a cactus to watching a video on dingoes. I play a lot of simulator games. Like... If you look at my steam library it's like... 99% simulator games, the Batman: Arkham Series, and then a hunting game for some reason. And even then I think that's a hunting simulator come to think about it. Don't know why I like Simulator Games, I just do. Wait... Does the Arkham series count as simulator games? Like... Are they technically Batman simulators. I love reptiles and rats, but I fucking hate spiders. Need an Australian Man™ to help me if a spider is near lol. You know wow I'm talking about here I tend to get overexcited when myself or others are talking about stuff I'm interested in. I go on long tangents about stuff I like. At least he's quick to... not apologise for his jokes, but to try and recover from them. And he's also surprisingly interested in you, and in getting to know you. Although, you fear it's just so he can make more risque jokes.

The loud laugh he lets out at the end of his remarks are so endearing though, they make his lewd comments almost charming. Which you're unsurprised by, given your specific taste in men. He's perfectly strange and definitely a little bit gross, just how you like them.

He comments on your glasses, mentioning that you seem like someone who is a creative problem solver. A comment that feels like a proper compliment, not just a segue into another flirtatious remark. And it feels like he's dialing down on that the more he gets to know you. he talks to you about horror films for twenty minutes without saying anything lewd or crude. It's almost like it's a defense mechanism he uses to keep a distance, to maintain his facade.

In fact, he barely says anything at all when you're telling him about your preference for classic horror, and what video games you're interested in. Almost like he's enjoying learning about you. Almost like he can forego his usual ridiculously brazen behaviour around you. And you're more than happy to return the favour when he gets excited about boomerangs. Your fault for mentioning them.

"Yeah, you can learn a lot from a video online about surviving in the outback, but if you're ever looking for private tutoring, I'm your man."

He winks with this statement, but you can tell there's sincerity behind the offer. The fact that you're willing to listen politely, and that you seem interested in him when he's talking about subjects that are so personal to him, makes him feel very at home around you. And you're warming up to him, to the point where you can make some jokes too. I mean, no harm in joking about inviting him round to your place to get rid of some scary spiders, since he's Australian Outback Extroardinaire.

Basically, a super long time ago already actually, Dream announced he was making a new Minecraft server, after the DSMP tragically passed away o7 that was gonna be called the USMP (I'm pretty sure it standed for United SMP but no clue honestly.)

And the exciting new feature about this USMP was going to be this real time translator, so content creators from all over the world could play together (Side thought: I don't think the translations were actually that good either way lol they were machine translated lol)

But literally like that Same night, Quackity announced that actually he was making his own server, the QSMP that had that exact same feature

So they basically kinda fought back and forth over who actually had ownership over the idea or who ripped off who, and while the YouTubers themselves didn't really do much, beyond being way too public about it, but like honestly, what's the Minecraft sphere without incredibly levels of parasociality involved.)

The fanbase was completely deranged over it tho, because you know, Stans gotta be Stans.

A lot of people got doxed, and stalked, literally putting trackers on people's cars, a lot of racism (Hi, hello, that happened to me) just a shitshow overall.

I wanna say that even though I stopped liking Dream ages ago Dream Stans get the worst possible treatment from everybody, just idk, people feel very entitled to mistreating anybody with a ":)" on their bio.

At the end, it finally died down, and then, Tommyinnit, most annoying man on Earth.

Made an ohhh politically incorrect video that was just fake edgy and kinda boring, where at the end he called Dream, basically a crybaby manchild who was gonna get killed by Tommy's LARP Dad Philza Minecraft.

Dream found out, got passive aggressive on Twitter, Tommy doubled down, and then like a stream later, he was being whiny and sighing ,and apparently watching DNF edits of Dream's, new at the time, LP.

Which kinda gave off the message that he really sacrificed a years long friendship to try to get into an SMP that his bestie Tubbo made it into before him

And which he never will, because the QSMP is a very deeply controlled space, with almost no super young content creators, and Tommy's first DSMP video was him literally breaking the only rules of that the server had, so yeah, that's never happening.

(And then, his mom went online to defend him, like boy the way I'm immediately killing myself if that ever happens to me, plus the dream stans discussing with this woman over her son, literally most annoying people in the world.)

And today, Dream made a (In my opinion, super boring) stream just showing the USMP, and talking a bit about Tommy and Quackity.

He kinda implies that the reason the USMP will never see the light of day is because of that drama, but like, that man has never once pushed through on any of his proyects, that SMP was doomed to fail from the very beginning.

I must clarify tho, that my annoyance with Tommy isn't the fact that he dissed Dream. I just freaking don't like the guy, he literally built his entire career on being a mysoginistic lowkey lesbophobic annoying brat.

Kinda sucks that Tommy is the one making the biggest mcyt related videos at the current time, solely because he's got the resources and the connections for it, literally the best part of his channel is being a host for other content creators to be funny and shine.

I still love Quackity tho, he can hit it for free any day of the week, and that's on God

fake dates and mooncakes by sher lee: fake dating (obv) premise between a cooking boy and a rich heir! book that made me realized im honestly just not that interested in ya romance anymore LMFAO. pretty sweet and a decent read, but landed more heavily on the expository end of uhh i guess diaspora fiction? than i really prefer. i think i picked this up bc the author got mega cancelled on tyk twitter lol??

bird by bird by anne lammott: book about how to write. i love to read about how people do stuff :3 some of the advice applies pretty universally to creative efforts i think.. made me want to write more too

john dies at the end by jason pargin: DNF. comic/horror about this loser guy who discovers stuff. sigh i tried so hard to like this book its supposed to be pretty 'mecore'...talked about this with alena a bunch but its like hm... i know the sort of casual offensiveness sort of goes in hand with being poor and white and in the midwest and i appreciate how its like that creates its own doomed narrative or whatever. but also i feel like the protagonist would call me slurs or something. also the lowgrade but pervasive orientalism is kinda offputting. probably fun for some other guy! i did enjoy the horror elements though

kiss quotient by helen hoang: (reread) a shy, autistic econometrician decides that she needs to get better at sex, and so hires an escort. helen hoang is one of my faavorite romance authors i really enjoyed this reread although i kinda forgot that both leads say, think and do some pretty embarrassing things. but you know a little embarrassment is endearing and all that.. i still prefer her other book (the bride test) but this one is pretty good too. vivid characters 👍

sisters of dorley hall by alyson greaves: web fiction - a trans woman infiltrates a secret force-feminization program. ok im just cp'ing my thoughts from discord again but i enjoyed it a lot:

my thoughts are that the first like, third? is really really good. it like idk takes the very real trans fears of like discovery and passing and all that and fictionalizes them a bit. but like its still grounded and swag. sooo tense once The Reveal happens n things w steph are pretty normal it gets kinda meandering? which i dont really mind bc i love interpersonal drama even if i miss how tense and scary it was. but also theres only like two major plot threads going on rn and theyre both pretty slowburn. a timeskip would probably benefit tbh like the point rn is kinda like. the 7 year meteor? yeah sorry

like it used to be sort of psychological thriller? and now its sort of more character focus and also surprisingly fluffy.. im surprised that the author has said they have a complete outline bc it doesnt feel very focused atm? but also like i suppose things are snowballing a bit re: revealing the sisters to the outside world

an unauthorized fan treatise by lauren james: a fangirl trying to prove her rpf ship is real uncovers a greater conspiracy. to me if something is able to capture a specific age/vibe from the internet its automatically pretty good. however more and more people are learning how to do that so maybe i should change my standards... i was never involved in All That re: rpf or even fandoms of live action shows until kamen rider? but like i definitely knew people in hs that were sort of like this LMFAO so it felt very familiar. i appreciate the author trying to make that $$ but i dont know if it really needs an expansion/sequel.. the ending is better off with some ambiguity imo

(havent watched/read the others). but like.. the writing was bad and the main actress just wasnt very sympathetic or charming? characters waste time saying "i can explain" until time runs out for them to actually explain, additional (and nonsensical) romance plots are added for no reason, and the male lead isnt even that hot. sorry. also kitty deciding to move to korea to connect with her mom but not bothering to learn a speck of korean and insisting that everyone else speak to her in english really sucks honestly. not even my mom liked it so thats how you know its bad 👎

shin kamen rider (hideaki anno): reboot of the first kamen rider by the guy who made evangelion. this guy kinda makes the same thing over and over but it looked sick as hell so i wasnt complaining. like stella obstinaterixatrix said, kinda more introspective or even insular to the point of kinda ignoring the usual kr theme of justice but it was still very fun :3 kinda want to watch the original now

ready player one (movie): my parents made me watch this movie. aggressively mediocre.

kamen rider revice and live and evil and demons: pretty fun if you have the disease that makes you think revice is good, but mostly made me miss revice. i think they should have gone more into the clone thing but i always think that so

roman holiday: a princess touring in rome escapes her duties for a day, and meets a dashing young reporter. classic romance!! i actually liked this so so much like it actually is very romantic and funny and like deserves the hype. didnt expect it to be in black and white even so audrey hepburn is really hot. (spoilers) more romances should have bittersweet endings though like it hit

kamen rider ryuki: a young man is inducted into a battle royale between those fighting for their deepest wishes, and decides to try and stop the rider battle once and for all. hey guys ryuki is so fucking good for those who have watched madoka magica a lot of it is very heavily based off of/inspired by ryuki! but ryuki does it better. pretty much The kamen rider has so much to say about justice and love and what it means to be a hero and sacrifice and *runs out of air and falls over* also it made me cry. if you ever try kamen rider try this one <3

EDIT OH i forgot about across the spiderverse 100/10 obviously groundbreaking in animation nice take on generational trauma and also like the nature of adaptation and being in a multimedia comics franchise and all that. really hope the sequel doesnt get crunched too bad. oh but copaganda not great 99/10

twisted wonderland: gacha game where random disney villains are bishie high schoolers instead. ill play chapter 3 sometime soon i swear. gameplay is terrible as with most gacha games but the characters are cute? i feel terrible guilt for being involved with a disney franchise. honestly pretty compelling character writing sometimes though sorry

apico: stardew-like about raising bees (in beta). sooooo cute and the devs obv care about bees a lot in real life. the gameplay loop + breeding systems are a little bit punishing right now though i really hope it gets adjusted. took over my life during finals (woops) and i got like half the bees and then burnt out. multiplayer is fun though!

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom: the next zelda game, now featuring building + vertical elements. yeah this took over my life for two months like it did for a bunch of other people i finished the main story a couple days ago! i might go back to do a couple more of the shrine puzzles, but other than that i think im done. LOVE the vertical elements and also all the little sidequests there are to do and how the world has changed since botw. dragons tears was really good and OMG PROVING GROUNDS. would be a 10/10 if zelda was the protag stop damseling her you guys cmon

paper mario origami king: newest paper mario game, which is a spinoff of the main series where theyre all paper (duh). im about halfway through this, i think? tried it out because of the dunkey video lol and also bc it was free at my library. very charming and inventive, has a really good soundtrack and really funny writing! i know the gameplay was controversial, but im enjoying it a lot (and theres a lot of room for error). might 100% it

my all-time ultimate fave character: we all know it's ariel lbr but...again not to be too predictable, andrina! she's SO much funny in every incarnation i read of her and she's the only character that seems to make it with a semblance of character integrity (even more so than ariel who does NOT fare well with these sequels)

a character I didn’t used to like but now do: king triton maybe? i still think he has abusive tendencies and certain things frustrate me about him to no end but i think he's realistic and there's a weight to him that's intriguing to me

a storyline that never should have been written: THE THIRD MOVIE. i will go to my grave standing by the fact that i think the banishment of music is the DUMBEST plot i've ever heard of/seen in all of hollywood and the fact that disney is SUCH a difficult company to break into and it's so competitive and it's supposed to hold the highest standards for its craft and THAT plot wasn't ridiculed in its initial pitch in the writer's room and how that plot not only contradicts THE FIRST SCENE we see of ariel missing the concert in her original movie but doesn't even make any sense, given that she gives her voice up to be human so clearly she doesn't care about music THAT much is baffling like the minimum wage character performers in the parks get better training on integrity than the writers from that movie

my first thoughts on the show: i honestly never cared about either movie but i think i disliked the third movie less when i first saw it because tlm2 made melody the main character and that really irritated me as a child because i didn't want to see her and her walrus and penguin, i wanted more ariel who was delegated as a side character bc i guess older women or moms just aren't interesting/worthy of being main characters???

my thoughts now: for as much as i personally dislike the second movie, i'm still glad we have it because i think some of jodi benson's singing is superior to any of her other recordings and i'm genuinely astounded by her talent in some songs. the third movie though is painful and i hate it and it makes me resent disney lol

last thursday I finished Crouchback by Carola Oman. it left me with a question: was he really a crouchback, or was he not? (I know he had scoliosis and wasn't a hunchback lol but the dilemma was there). The author gives us mixed signals on the matter all throughout the story, combining both Moore's portrait of Richard and real historical facts (the ones available at the time in 1929 ofc, and that's probably why we don't know if Richard is actually a hunchback or not).

I don't think she meant to restore his reputation though, unlike many of our contemporary authors. She's kinda neutral about it ig.

the story is told in third person and I struggled to follow the narration in some bits and bops, but it's understandable anyway. Most of it focuses on Anne of Warwick's thoughts and actions, but it can shift on other characters too. It follows the earl of Warwick's doings to put Eddy on the throne and ends with the battle of Bosworth. The absolute main character never really appears in the story but for a few scenes, he's mostly talked of. I recall feeling this tension to meet him and just never be satisfied; and he's almost without any personality at all. I mean, he seems so indifferent and emotionless: we don't get to know him. And I really did expect him to be a hunchback (cuz yes, that's my weak point, idk why, I like grotesque characters okay), but the author just kept silent about it, throwing hints on his posture, but never really getting to the subject.

Towards the end, I really just wanted it to finish, as Anne just started to feel extremely unwell, Richard was never present and everything was going bad. I mean, it was difficult to go on.

yeah, I'm not really satisfied with this book; I mean, I had been waiting to read it for a long time, and then found it almost, ALMOST, disappointing.

I still think it's a nice reading though, and well-written, despite its flaws.

As usual, I'm now stuck in a critical phase when I want to read twenty books at once and nothing at all. I'm facing too much stress and sometimes I feel like I can't pay enough attention to anything, so I don't want to risk and spoil the stories I can't wait to read :(

I'm actually reading "This son of york" by Anne Easter Smith, but I'm not liking it THAT much, it's a bit too...corny? and I see the author already provided us (as in, me) with empowered women (such as doctor Constance Lemaitre), or girls defying the custom of marrying well (margaret). Nothing wrong with the idea of it, I just don't like how the author presents it. I mean, characters and the author herself talk about it in too modern a way (???). I think she should consider the time they're living in! Sure, a woman could break free from the rules, but am I the only one that thinks her defiance still went through the influence of the context she grew up in? I mean, they're still women of their time. I don't know, it's a sensitive topic tbh, and I'm not sure I've explained myself clearly. Let's just stick to my complaint of it recalling too much our modern times, like a projection of the present on the past.

For the moment, I'll just stick to this book, maybe it gets better and I don't think I'm able to read anything too complicated anyway (as in, classics) :(

I got my pap smear results this week but when I went to my doctor's office to talk to her about them she wasn't there, even though according to the clinic app she was supposed to be there until late in the evening :/ so I'll probably make an appointment for next week. I've been taking the supplements she recommended me but they make me soooo gassy and give me diarrhea like straight up liquid coming out of my asshole. I don't even think I'd ever had diarrhea like that before I started taking it. My bf said it might be a temporary side effect, while my body adjusts to it, and judging by what I found online he might be right. The last couple of days have been better, it's usually worse in the morning right after I wake up. I'll bring it up to my doctor next week but by that time it'll probably pass.

TOMORROW my best friend will come to the city, her final exam is on the 2nd of July and then on the 4th she'll present her BA thesis ❤ I'm so proud she's finally breaking free of the curse of this university lol I got her a birthday baggy - some trinkets I bought & hand-made (a calico kitty made out of clay in the image of her oldest cat, and a blue heart with yellow stars, both of which have been turned into fridge magnets), some candles, slime creatures, some small cosmetics (heart shaped soap & a watermelon lip mask) etc. I don't even know what else I put in that bag but I'm so excited to finally give it to her. I'm kind of nervous to hang out with her & her bf again tbh and idrk why, it's not fair to feel this way for no particular reason towards my best friend but I suppose and hope it's just excitement 👉👈 I feel some pressure to take them to some nice places in the city now that it's summer and everything looks awesome thanks to the trees and the clear blue sky or with its fluffy white clouds, but other than the riverside, the park, the big hill in the city center, and maybe the botanical garden idk many other "visitable" places. I do want to go to the botanical garden though... I haven't been in ages and I don't even think I've ever been in the summer.

I've been reading a lot lately, I feel disinterested in pretty much everything else, like movies or TV shows. I'm super caught up in this old book I'm reading rn (from the online used books store 😘) and it's just exciting to read super old books that I know next to nothing about. Well, if they turn out to be good too, that is. And most of the time they do!

Today I had a prettyyy full day, woke up early partly out of habit, partly because I was expecting the regular morning call on the way to work from my bf. Did some yoga FINALLY, washed my comforter and my sneakers, swept the floor, had a nice breakfast (canned tuna + parsley + black olives + hot pepper paste + olive oil, wrapped in lettuce leaves like sarma 🤭), went shopping for a small backpack cause I can NAWT be a tote bag woman anymore. I mean I'll remain loyal to my tote bags for the most part, but some occasions call for a more practical means of transportation for my trinkets and objects. Made some wings and parmesan fries in the air fryer (as someone whose oven is sentient AND evil and out to get me, I feel blessed to have finally joined the air fryer crowd and I can kind of understand why it felt like people who owned one could not seem to stop talking about theirs before I had one too... I'll never do that though. But I get it kinda), and I was honestly ready to watch a horror movie, but my book just seems so much more enticing. So I'll return to her.

I do need to work out more today, and then have an everything shower. But maybe a little nap won't hurt. Just a small very short one.

I think it’s mostly a type thing like that’s what they find attractive (like for my ex it was petite, dark haired - until this current girl who is blonde but fits the rest, sorta pretty but in a non threatening way, a bit “Jewish looking” lol, dresses in a fairly classic way - the girl he sorta “left me for” who was and is very alternative style wise bit otherwise she fit all this and the blonde girl he’s with now and I literally have the same Michael Kors sneakers as I learned from when I stalked her for this exercise lol that’s the vibe usually, party girl with advanced degree). Another joke here is my ex wanted to break up in part because he said he thought I’m gay and need to be free to like explore that more and he wasn’t fully wrong there obviously but currently I’m with a man and that girl he left me for has been with a woman for the last few years lmao. In fact there was also another girl he dated briefly who I did meet because we were friendlier than we are at the time (not that we’re not friends now but he lives on another continent) and that girl was also short and dark haired and Jewish and has fully come out as a lesbian and is now with a girl I went on a few dates with before they got together lol. So maybe my ex’s other type is also yk kinda gay. Like yeah I mean I think he def has a type but I think I was the formative experience for the creation of that type because from 16/17-19/20 that was what a “girlfriend” was for him 😂

I once went through a very weird era of deciding I’m secretly still in love with him and like basically writing a fanfic in my head about how we should get back together but he was (fortunately because I was yk going through something there lol) not very receptive to the idea (I didn’t fully proposition him but I did message quite a bit and we had a few phone calls and I was like “idk maybe we should visit each other” and he was like “ummm” and yeah I mean I think he’s v happy with the current gf). So I don’t think he thinks of me per se but I do think it was a formative experience he can work through in therapy at some point lol and I also do think like in our case idk I don’t think you ever are gonna fully forget your first serious relationship/first love. Like much like we take stuff from our family dynamics and relationships, I think we also carry stuff over from our serious exes and I think even though we were kids, it went on a long time and it was generally a positive experience so I think we’ve definitely carried expectations from that into our adult lives. For instance quantity of sex tbh and the fact that we do both expect like our partners to be our best friends (probably why he keeps hitting on the gay women there lol but my current bf is the same like he’s disproportionately dated gay women and he and I are very close friends aside from the relationship aspect) and a bunch of other good stuff.

none of my subsequent partners look like him and tbh none of them have a similar job to him but all the men I’ve ever dated/90% of the ones I’ve hooked up with are very very tall and that was the thing I liked most about him physically so that also makes sense and I do like as humans and expect to want to want to be best friends with if we’re seeing each other idk sorry for the morning ramble.
