Me after writing one coherent presentable character bio without treating it like a dissertation of some sort
#real talk though#it’s probably just brain fog idk#but I find that it’s very hard to put my thoughts into a presentable piece of writing#and it’s very discouraging when you feel like your brain is simultaneously working at 6% and 110% all the time#maybe that’s not what people get from me#but that’s how it feels in my head#I just want to be able to organize everyone’s bios and info and the settings so people have something to refer to#and be able to easily answer asks about characters#maybe i just care too much about what people think of my writing#ehhhhaugGGHHHHHHH#with the other shit in my life can I at least have control over this please?#not art

🕊️🔥Hello! I have brainrot for a specific OC of mine, and was hoping to find someone to write him with!
I am 25+, Enby, and require you to be 21+. This will be a MxM roleplay with OCxOC, through Discord. Please be literate and able to write multiple paragraphs with detail and description, and proper grammar. I want this rp to be plot-centric and character-driven. This particular OC is a power bottom (if any smut at all), but that's not what I strictly write. Please let me know if you'll be busy, so I don't assume you've ghosted!
Side Note: (Superpowers will be involved in this rp. They can be scientific or magical in nature, and people can be powerless. Up to you what you want YC to be).
Brief Info On MC: MC is overpowered due to his past with the military (Got a Doc on his power for you, along with weakness and full bio), having trained him to be a weapon for world war. After sixteen years of abuse and torture from them, he escaped back into society by murdering everyone at the base and essentially destroying it. He is a highly complex, morally grey character with many layers to him. His age is 21-26, depending on what we decide to do. I don't mind if our guys have an age gap, with MC being the younger in this case. It is not a requirement, just an option! If romance is involved, it will definitely be slow burn on MC's end. I'm also open to platonic dynamics and/or more toxic ones. Just let me know!
Plot Blurb: YC is an authority figure in law enforcement, another military base, or an independent organization (or a high-ranking doctor and/or psychologist). Some of your crew captured my OC when he was weakened and malnourished after escaping, believing him to be a danger to the rest of society. They bring him to you, give the rundown, and YC decides to take the challenge of taking MC under his wing to *hopefully* rehabilitate him. YC notices that while my OC is an incredibly dangerous individual with his power, he is essentially an animal trying to survive. Maybe YC is caught in a web with their superior being involved with the military base that MC was captured by? Causing YC to eventually go rogue? Or, they have no affiliation and eventually convince MC to fight on their side, despite his "unsavory methods." (This can be set in a more "after war" apocalypse setting or modern. That decision will affect MC's timeline, but I don't mind either way.)
We can discuss details/triggers/limits in private. I have a few side characters from MC's past that I'd like to incorporate into the overarching plot. I expect you to multi-muse along with me to have a fleshed-out world! I have a RL and more anime/manga style faceclaim for him!
I will require a writing sample from you to ensure our styles match, and I will give you one to review, as well. Please like only if you are genuinely interested! :)
like if interested!

tumblr etiquette 101
a list that is nowhere near exhaustive, from yours truly.
First off, welcome! Whether you’re a twitter veteran looking for anything but whatever twitter is, or a new user just done signing up, glad to see you in our ranks beloveds! Welcome home. Refer to this quick tour to make sure your fandom experience (or tumblr experience in general) is a positive one!
Disclaimer: I know it’s long, but please try to read or skim through til the end if you’re new here! This is by no means meant to be a rule book (for the most part lol), only a guide to help you get settled easier!
1) Your blog
This is where people will see and interact with you, so put some effort into it!
Try to choose a name (url) that’s simple. You can see it as your brand, it’s how people will perceive you and remember you. If you’d like to interact with other users here (and not use the site just for the content) it’s better to have something short and sweet, preferably without spaces. (Of course, these are only suggestions.) Rest assured, you can change it literally any time you want.
Have a theme. Utilize the tool that lets you edit your blog’s color or the font of your bio! You can make it match your profile picture, or your blog if it has a theme of its own. Make it feel homey :]
Fill in your bio. People will be checking out your profile probably more often than you think. Don’t leave it empty! Put in any information you’re comfortable with sharing and isn’t too personal (like your age if you’re a minor, or other TMI that can be found on other people’s carrds). It’s always better to add a name/nickname people can use to refer to you by, but feel free to use your blog description to shitpost still.
You can have an intro post. More often than not, you’ll see a blog have a pinned post, a post permanently appearing at the top of a blog until you pin another post or unpin it. You can make one of those, if you’d like to introduce yourself in more length, link any other socials or a carrd, and show others visiting your blog how you tag things so it’ll be easy for them to navigate. Not an obligation.
Keep your anonymity and your safety. It should go without saying, but there’s no harm in repeating it just in case. Your comfort, privacy and safety has the utmost importance. Don’t share any information you don’t want to. Don’t share your age if you’re a minor, or any other incredibly personal info. I’d encourage you to go by a nickname that’s not your real name, (blog name, your brand, remember?) since there’s safety in anonymity, and that’s lowkey one of the big deals of tumblr, but that’s up to you still.
Choose what you want to be visible. Your liked posts and who you follow are all things you can set to keep to yourself and hide from the publics eye, how handy! You should go through all the setting while you’re at it, set it to your comfort.
Side blogs are a thing. You can have multiple blogs that you can use for different things (see: different fandoms, art blog, etc) to keep them organized or away from your followers. Just remember that the replies and off-anon asks you send will be from your main blog, as well as where you follow other blogs from.
2) Interacting with others
You’ve set up your account, now comes the fun part!
Follow to your heart’s desire. If you care about others seeing who you follow, fear not! In tumblr, usually only two types of blogs keep their following visible to others: newbies, and big blogs using it to point people on other good blogs’ direction. Just turn it off, and go ham following people.
Customize your dashboard. Gonna mention just two things here: this is another reason why it’s really important that you follow blogs without sparing, your dash will collect dust otherwise; and you should turn off “best stuff first” in your dashboard settings, to have a better community here and all.
Follow tags. You can set it in your settings that posts with your followed tags appear on your dashboard.
You can check the og post for edits and context. When you see a reblogged post you don’t understand the context of (or don’t recognize the character in case of fanarts), click on the profile so it will take you to the original post. From there you can check the original poster’s tags to get the context, or see if there have been any edits made to the post, since when you edit a post it doesn’t update any past reblogs.
Send people asks... This is how you make mutuals, people! Do it off-anon if you’d like them to know your blog, or anon if you’d rather not! (You can still end your messages with a signature to show you’re the same person, -[name] is one example.) Send them nice messages, ask their opinion on something, discuss things, or just straight up shitpost lol. Go wild. The sky’s your limit and it’s definitely more than 280 characters.
...and let them ask you! You can set your preference in the settings, do it on desktop tumblr to access more settings tho! What you can customize on mobile is limited (like letting people ask you things anonymously, that’s only on desktop settings). In my personal opinion, it’s always better to tag their username (or a nickname you give them, if they’re a friend) on that post, since you wouldn’t want your interactions with your friends to get buried in your blog forever.
Comment on posts. If you have something to say but don’t want the post to appear on your blog you can add a comment. The owner of the post will get a notif for it, but for anyone else you need to tag them.
For the love of god, reblog. People will only see your liked posts if you have it visible to public and they specifically go on your blog to look at them. You like something? You reblog. It’s already hard for posts to circulate properly, if you don’t reblog them literally no one will see them. If not for anything do it for the artists. Just hold and drag on mobile to fast rb.
3) Your Posts
Finally here! Don’t be a lurker, post and engage!
Make use of “read more”. If your post is long, add it. That’s what you clicked on earlier to expand this post. On desktop leave an empty line and you’ll see three dots appear, and on mobile type :readmore: on that empty line.
Draft a post to come back to it later. Pretty self explanatory.
Queue your post. Whether it’s your own post or you’re reblogging, make use of the queue feature to a) not spam reblog and fill up the dashboard of people following you and b) keep your blog active while you’re gone. Mess around in the settings, it’s fairly easy to set up.
Schedule your post. Same as queueing, the only difference is you get to choose the exact time your post will go up. Handy if you want to schedule a post for certain dates like april fools, or 5 years in the future for some reason.
Format your texts. You can do all kinds of fancy stuff here (that’s a link, try pressing on it). Twitter doesn’t have this, make use of it. Changes depending on whether you’re on mobile or desktop. (Desktop has less features.)
Check your stats. If you’re trying to understand the algorithm better or want to look at some pretty graphs you can get your data on that on desktop tumblr.
@ people in comments. You’ll get all the notifs when people comment on your posts but they won’t see your reply unless you tag them in your message.
4) Tags, and tagging a post
This is where my earlier statement “this isn’t a rule book” stops being applicable. It’s not a war crime to go against these, I won’t come chasing you (don’t take my word for this) but you’ll work up a bad rep. Just saying lol.
Do NOT crosstag posts. It’s really tempting to add unrelated tags to increase your posts’ interaction, I know, but that’s not what tumblr is about. Don’t be a dick and make other communities’ experience worse for them.
Always tag your posts with “crit/critical/discourse/etc” if it calls for it. There’s no exceptions to it. This is the reason you see people migrating to tumblr. Let people enjoy things.
Don’t main tag a critical/negative post. If your crit post is about “Thing”, you add the “Thing critical” tag, but not the “Thing” tag. People block crit tags if they don’t want to see it, don’t shove it in their faces by main tagging it.
If you don’t want to see something, just block it. Another reason why people are able to survive on tumblr. You don’t start discourse, you don’t make call-outs, you block. You can find something for every community you can think of if you go looking for it. The worst of the worst probably won’t ever appear on your dash, but if you’re worried or feel the need for it, you know where the block button is.
Feel free to shitpost or ramble. More often than not you’ll see people rb a post with a comment, and their elaboration will be in the tags. The tags are only visible on your profile and the notifications of the owner of the og blog. Just a thing people do.
Reblog artists’ posts with nice comments in the tags! Commenting on a drawing is usually done through the tags (Not an obligation, again, just a thing people do. Feel free to add your comment on the rb itself if you’d want other people to see it tho!) and leave nice messages for the artists! It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
If you have more than a single follower, always use the common tw warning tags. You don’t need to tw everything, but tw’ing some common things is the bare minimum human decency. Keep it safe for others.
Tag a post “long post” if it’s really long. Pretty self explanatory. Don’t make people scroll through all that please lol.
You can use them to organize your blog. This is more of a pro tip, if you’d like to not miss a post in your blog, cause they will start pilin’ up soon enough.
#Liveblogging is pretty fun. If you’d like to talk to people during streams, don’t forget to add the relevant tags still! Again, you won’t show up on people’s dash otherwise.
Whew! That got out of hand. Hopefully I didn’t bore you too much. Check out blogs like @heritageposts and @hellsite-hall-of-fame to honor our past o7. @mcytblr-hall-of-fame too maybe :eyes:. Anyways, don’t forget the most important rule of them all:
Enjoy your stay! You’re meant to have fun on here while also making friends (if that’s your thing). Just be kind and respectful of others, you’ll get the hang of the rest! <3
#mcyttwt#mcytblr#dream team#dream smp#mcyt#dsmp#tumblr#how to tumblr#gonna tag ppl now so more users will see it lol#dreamwasteken#georgenotfound#karl jacobs#technoblade#sbi#twitter#twitter discourse#sbitwt#sleepytwt#sleepy bois inc#HOLY shit this took so long omg my back literally hurts rn#the fuckin lengths i go to make sure tumblr doesnt get tainted w twt LMAO#anyways if youre seeing this you should follow me look at how sexy i am i spent the last 2+ hours typing this goddamn list out#also: ignore how i literally sound like its 2014 at some parts here lol i tried my best#also ignore how wack the paragraph breaks are tumblrs formatting hates me and its 4 am im too tired for this#third also: some bits here are supposed to be ironic keep that in mind pls#rolan.txt#long post#save#yes im tagging my own post as save what about it

Hello please tell me about Echo, I would like to know :)
taco i’m always willing to talk about echo, he’s one of my favorite characters to rant about
ok i know this ask was inspired by the ‘tag the oc with the saddest ending’ post but since its been so long since you sent it, its been marinating in my head for days so i’m just gonna rant in general
(lots under the cut. like lots. almost 1500 words)
Echo was actually supposed to be the main character bc he joins nyks and spence on their journeys (there was going to be like four pov’s) but then i gave him some background that i didnt share and didnt feel like i could really do it justice with him being the main character. It’s still talked about and i feel like i do a good job covering it, but he’s not the main character bc i think its important to let people share their stories but still have a diverse set of characters (if that makes sense at all). I wont talk about the background in this rant (just because how i reveal it in the story is how i want it to be figured out)
Ok i want to talk about his family first. He lives with lots of other people. His parents, his older sister and brother, his younger sister and brother, his grandma, and his older brother’s two kids and wife, and his older sister’s fiancee. He shares a room with his younger sister and brother, so he’s closer with those two naturally. They’re three years younger than him. Not twins but theyre the same age (they kinda adopted freddie. Frankie is his bio sister). His older brother is six years older than him and his kids are two and four. His older sister is two years older than him. His grandma has dementia and doesnt really like him for no real reason (its just the vibes since he has magic and she can kinda sense it). He had a twin sister (Skrell) but her magic was discovered and she was killed.
Next im talking about his magic. He has reactive magic, which is pretty impossible to control. In any other kingdom, it would protect him, but since Terilace has a magic ban, it’s nearly gotten him killed more times than he’d like to admit. Its really rare to have reactive magic, to the point where no one can really test for it like they can the other types of magic. It’s only in people who havent had a magician in the family tree for at least five generations, are the second born twin, and are not their parent’s first pregnancy. The first twin usually has a different type of emotion related magic (skrell had empathetic magic, which means that she knew what everyone was feeling. It caused a lot of overloads and she stayed home pretty much all the time). He also has very weak shadow magic, but he doesn’t find out about that until later.
Now im talking about his job. He’s the oldest Assistant at the library, he’s been there longer than Xander, the Librarian. His old boss was killed by a poisonous animal that got into the library mysteriously (its kinda hinted at how it got in but im not getting into that now). His sections are magic, psychology, magical wildlife (which doesnt fall under the magic section), horticulture, and Terilace history. There are only two other Assistants, Zoey and William who are 14 and 16 respectively. He trained them both but now they’re able to work without his help. When the story starts, he’s training an Assistant to replace him since he and Haven are going to leave the kingdom soon. There are also ten to fifteen (depends on lots of things) Scribes at the Library and their only job is to copy information into books. The Assistants organize and compile all the info they put into the books and are in charge of making sure everything is in the right place. They have to know where everything in their sections is. There are blue hermit spiders that live in the bookshelf. The first Librarian added them to the shelves to protect the books and information. They live for anywhere between twenty and eighty years, depending on what they decide to do. Some “adopt” Assistants and live with them until one of them dies. If the Assistant dies first, then the spider lives on their grave until it dies. It’s the most loyal species in the world. Echo has one that he calls Monster, but its name is Cecil (this isnt important i just wanted to share its name). I could keep talking about the Library for hours, but ive already gotten off topic quite a bit, so im moving on.
I want to touch on some relationships he has outside of his family. He and haven have known each other for almost fifteen years. Haven and her mom moved inside the Terilace castle walls when she was three (he was five) and they became fast friends. Haven spends a lot of time at his house bc her mom is kinda controlling and haven doesnt like being around her. She rants to him and he listens, she doesnt know much about his life though (which is how he likes it). Spencer and him have a sort of relationship. By which i mean spence has a crush on him and echo pretty much hates him. Spence turns in a lot of magicians bc he was raised being taught that any kind of magic is evil and there is no good in it. He’s also the prince (future king. Again, i can talk about the kingdom and traditions for a long time but this is about echo soo..), so echo cant really tell him to leave him alone. Robert (spence’s older brother) and him are friends. Rob came to the Library one day and needed something from one of echo’s sections, so they got to talking and now they’re fairly close. Not that anyone can know that bc the royals arent really supposed to have friend outside of the castle. He has lots of other relationships too, but not any major ones that come up in the story, so they’re not super fleshed out (yet).
His main arc is learning to open up and talk about things, which nyks and emberly help with a lot. He learns that he doesnt need to bottle everything up and that being vulnerable isnt the end of the world. He doesnt really care a lot about his health and tries to take care of everyone and everything before he even thinks about himself, but he learns to stop doing that too. He also learns how to control his emotions other than just making himself feel numb so his magic doesnt get him killed.
He’s aroace, which is a huge part of who he is. He doesnt really understand romance, but wishes he could date (he ends up dating emberly and nyks platonically). His aromanticism is more important to him than his asexualtiy, but his ace-ness is also a huge part of his identity.
Ok, so i know this ask was prompted by the ‘which character has the saddest ending’ post i rb’d, so ill get into that. Because he didnt use his magic for the first (almost) twenty-one years of his life, he dies young. With most emotional magic, its important to embrace it. Same with shadow magic. His shadow magic is weak already, but since he doesnt find out about it until he finally settles down, it takes a lot of years off his life. After he, nyks, and emberly settle down in a big house where he can just. relax. He spends a lot of time doing the things he loves. He bakes, gardens and spends a lot of time reading topics he enjoys learning about. Up until he moved out of Terilace, he worked from dawn to dusk. When he woke up, he had to help his ma in the bakery, then he’d go to work. When he got back from work, he had to help in the bakery. The only downtime he got was the hour after the bakery closed and before frankie got home from work. He was able to go to his room and just take a break. Then when frankie got back home, he would have to help with dinner and cleaning around the house, he also watched his brother’s kids a lot. So when he finally finds a home with the people he loves, he’s able to work when he wants to on what he wants to. Then, once he’s settled, he starts to get sick. He knew he would, even before he found out about his shadow magic. It just happens when you suppress your magic for twenty years (give or take). He wrote letters to everyone who he thought should know (family, emberly, haven, old work friends, robert) and dies in his late thirties or early forties (i havent decided yet).
Theres so much more i could talk about (and i probably will eventually) but for now, it’s almost 4am, i have a full day and need to get some sleep. (feel free to ask about anything i brought up in this, i love talking about my wip)

Sexual fluidity, conditional relationships and gender identity
Just gonna put this for myself
Genetic research doesn't have a very strong support that sexual orientation is present when the child is born. When a child is born it's neither straight, gay or lesbian. Majority love the touch of human WHEN done with consent (which is another broad topic). Everyone is pan or bi but they are on a spectrum and that sexual preference is created in early stages of a person and also based on hormones as well and many other things and further research needs to be done.
Also there was this psychologystudy done in which brain activation was observed between same gender and opposite gender romantic partners and the conclusion was that, the same brain parts were activated as for the opposite genders so this shows that these people love each other and aren't lieing or anything else.
But then soemone would say this is against nature waghera waghers which is complete bullshit. I dont really know the evolutionary explanation for sex but I think it goes like human are genetically coded to spread their seed everywhere because survival is innate in us. This idea that birth is a must. This idea that sex is pleasurable because it is genetically coded in us to give birth and spread or dna. I mean so what if it is. Genes aren't brain, they dont think, soem express themselves soem dotn. Sex is pleasurable. Not alot of People want to have sex because they want to have children but because it is pleasurable. And also sex is alot more than penis and vagina coercion. That's a very limited view of what sex is. That's why contraceptives exist. Some people find sex pleasurable with people of same gender or opposite wavhera waghera. I mean people are freaking stupid. Also they aren't hurting anyone, they are living their lives with someone just like opposite gender cpuples and aren't causing any harm. They are just literally existing like anyone else and just simply living their lives. Being straight is a social conditioning. Idk the Islamic viewpoint of it is and I don't care. I am not a Muslim and it doesn't concern me. However, I do know that Islam is a not a monolith, it has its own multiple interpretations and ideas which is evident by the multiple groups present within the community; the main one being Shia and sunni. Thus I know and have met people that are Muslims and lesbians or gays with their own interpretation of the texts and hadith. Soo that is sowmthing as well. But the religion argument does not apply to me because I am not a Muslim and any argument created based on religion doesn't hold any value to me. Sorry not sorry ig
Heteronormativity is just a social construct created (for ig survival but we are no longer in that position anymore, we actually have overpopulation and which is the cause of poverty and stuff) and practiced for so many years by the strict Christianity values which through colonialism effected southasian (pk) countries as well. As they brought in conservative ass victorian rules here.
No society is perfect. Cultures and societies are forevermore evolving. The norms change. All the good and bad norms which in itself are subjective.
Sexuality is fluid. It changes alot more for females than guys interestingly enough. If Bring honest everyone is bi or pan. All of us are on a spectrum.
I would say ke labeling ki waja se apne ap ko insaan poore tareeke se explore nahi kar sakta. Apna human experience limit karne ki koshish kiyo kar rahe ho. Labels ko chodo aur bas logo ko deko or try maro. Ha wo alag bat hai ke becareful kiyo ke yaha par log samaj te nahi hai. Jo be karna hai wo ik mehfooz jaga aur insaan ke sath karo. Don't be in a hurry. Experience ko poora absorb karo aur analyse karo insaan aur setting ko.
Aur ooper se colonialist ke lafz istemal kar ke yaha par log cheezo ko aur be demonise karte hai e.g gay ya orgy. Ajeeb log ajeeb duniya.
Seeing homosexuality as a demonising thing is just soo stupid. Ut's just really messed up the sort of perception people here specifically have towards sex. It's such a sex negative society and yet everything is about sex. If a girl wears jeans to uni, it's about sex, if two opposite genders are talking it's about sex etc etc. It makes the people in convo also weird and awkward. There are such high rates of rape and etc etc and yet there is no talk about it. Our mind as people of this society need to to desensitise ourselves with these concepts about sexuality, sex, penis, vagina, mastirbation, casual sex, consent, sexual needs and waghera waghera. So much shame is attached to it. And this concept of khandan ki izat ghar ki ladki ke sath hai is so fucked up.
Marital rape is so mornalixaed that people dont report it to police bcuz its not rape its just between the man and the woman. Fucking jahaliat.
Also gender is performative. It doesn't exist actually and it is forever evolving. Don't mix private part (sex, chromosomes) with gender expression.
If you go by that logic na they, she, he pronouns fotn really matter. Like people call you by a specific pronoun based on how you look not what you have in your pants.
I mean people can call me whatever they want. By any pronoun. It doesn't matter to me because gender expressions are different in many places around the world and is mostly for people who speak English and for people living in English speaking countries.
It depends on you what criterias you have set for yourself in terms of what makes you a woman.
Clothes, speaking, behaviour; all of these thigns are performative which evolve with time. What make syou a full woman depends on the criteria you have set for what being a complete woman is. If it is sex organ as well ok then go ahead. But you will never be able to change your chromosomes. Gender is a performance amd nothing else (it does serve a societal structure which in alot of societies around the world is heteronirmative and patriaechal (which initself has alot of problems). The provate parts and sex organs are seperate from gender but people in alot of society and mostly in western nation and ig post colonial societies e.g here assume that they are bio-essential and it is NOT.
Khawaja sira as far as I have learned is more inclusive, it doesn't take wheather your intersex or waghera (I am not sure I will do my reader h a bit more later).
These ambiguous and queer people have existed for more than 4000 years. And such groups have existed in different societies around the world for millennium in a similar version.
These words such as queer and transgender whghera have been coined only in last century whilst they were already given names in different societies multitude years before. Waghera waghera.

Hey Liss, I really want to start a small horror group rp but I never ever done one on Tumblr and I'm scared of messing up. Could you give me some advice? Is running a group rp on tumblr too stressful?
First of all, I’m so sorry for the late reply!
The biggest factor in how challenging it will be to run a group is how much time you have to put into it. That’s not to say that if you go to school or work full-time you can’t run one, but if you don’t have much time to commit to being online, it can be a lot to handle. That said, it’s incredibly rewarding to watch a roleplay thrive!
The two most important parts of your group are going to be your plot and your graphics. I wish the second wasn’t the case, but how your roleplay (and your promo graphic) looks is a huge deal when it comes to drawing people in. Roleplays with ‘basic’ graphics, sadly, often find it difficult to gain any traction in the community. If you’re not great with graphics, you may want to consider getting a co-admin who is, or contacting RPHs who do those types of services. That said, a solid plot or location is what will make people stay. Your roleplay will need to be either plot-driven or character-driven. A plot-driven roleplay is going to be harder to keep up with, as you’ll have to provide lots of events and plot drops to keep the ball rolling. Character-driven roleplays can often take a little longer to set up, as you really want to make your location come to life by providing a history and places around town for people to set their interactions, but require less upkeep as the members create their own plots. For a horror group, chances are it’s going to be a little more plot-driven.
Setting up your blog can be one of the more stressful parts of running your own group. You want to make sure everything looks good, all of the writing is error-free, and the page is properly organized so viewers can find what they’re looking for. Below is a list of important pages your page should include and my advice for them.
NAVIGATION: It’s very, very important that your navigation be properly laid out. People aren’t going to want to join a roleplay if they can’t easily find everything they need to do so. Most roleplays divide their navigation into two sections–before applying and after acceptance. The first should include your plot, rules, characters, taken/banned face claims, wanted connections, and application. It should also include any other information you’d want people to know going into it, like locations around your town. The second should include your checklist, blogroll, trigger list, and OOC masterlist.
PLOT: This should be at the top of your navigation page and, ideally, directly linked from your home page. It shouldn’t be too long or too short, just a few paragraphs. Your paragraphs also shouldn’t be too lengthy–large blocks of text can turn people away.
RULES: The most important rules are as follows. Activity–most roleplays have an activity limit of 5 or 6 days. This allows members to balance RP with real life while still preventing too much inactivity on the dash. Characters–the number of characters you can have, the age requirements for characters/face claims if you have one, and whether characters can be on a multi-muse account or should have separate blogs. Drama/inclusivity–there should always be a zero tolerance policy for OOC drama, and rules in place to promote inclusivity such as requiring that members reply to at least 3 starters before posting their own.
CHARACTERS: This is where keeping up with a roleplay can start to get tricky. There are two types of RPs you may choose to go with–bio or appless. If it’s a bio roleplay, you need to make a graphic for and post the biography of every character. If it’s appless, you need to make sure that each time you get a new character, you update your character page. Either way, you’ll also need to keep on top of your taken face claims page. Many admins choose not to post a bio or add a character to their page until they’ve received the account for that character.
WANTED CONNECTIONS: This isn’t required, per se, but can inspire more people to join your roleplay. You should have a form for your members to fill out, and they’ll send in their wanted connections. That’s another thing to keep up with–you’ll have to put all of these on your WC page as well as remove taken connections, or edit connections that have 1 out of 2 or more muses taken (think bandmates, or multiple siblings).
APPLICATION: Your application should include, at the very least, the character’s name, age, gender AND pronouns, and face claim. Most choose to add positive and negative personality traits to their app. If it’s a bio roleplay, you’ll need to request a biography, either by simply stating ‘bio here’, or by dividing it up into sections. For instance, you can split it up into background, present, and personality, and include a paragraph or word requirement for each section if you’d like.
CHECKLIST: This should be the first thing in your ‘after acceptance’ section and should include everything your new member has to do after being accepted. This should include getting their account in within 24 hours, following everyone on the blogroll, tracking your tags, looking at your trigger list and sending in any triggers they’d like added, sending in wanted connections, asking for the OOC blog/Discord link, posting an intro for their character, and finally posting their first interaction. Speaking of tags to track–yours should include tags for character intros, starters, events, tasks, admin notes, and new blogs to follow.
TRIGGER LIST: Some basic triggers you should include: sexual assault, suicide/self-harm, eating disorders, blood, drugs, death, abortion, violence. You should also ask that your members send in any personal triggers that they’d like added, and this should always always always be kept confidential.
OOC MASTERLIST: You may choose to only include OOC information on your character page, but an OOC masterlist can be helpful when it comes to plotting. This lists each member’s name and which characters they play, and often includes other OOC info such as age, timezone, and pronouns. This way when plotting with someone, members can immediately see all of the characters the person they’re plotting with plays.
As mentioned before, graphics and theme are also very important. Your theme should be neat, organized, but ‘pretty’. Almost all themes are going to involve at least one graphic. The color scheme of your graphic(s) should closely match that of your theme so that everything looks coherent. If there’s more than one graphic, they should look nice together without being repeats of each other. You’ll also need to create a promo graphic to post in the tags. Note that you should create a sideblog to post your promo graphics, rather than flooding your main page with them. Your promo doesn’t have to look quite as similar as the others, since they won’t be shown side-by-side, but should still give off the same ‘vibe’. You’ll want to make sure to double-check all of the writing on your page for errors, click on all of your links to see that they’re working properly, and go through your navigation from the point of view of a potential member.
The next part is being a good admin. You should be able to get on almost every single day, even just for long enough to post something in the tags and empty your inbox. Admin activity is crucial to group activity. As soon as members see the activity of the main die down, they start to decline in activity or find other groups.
There are three key elements to promoting your roleplay. The first is through your promo sideblog and promo graphics. You should be posting these often enough that they regularly show up in the tags without being too overbearing. You’ll have to check the tags you choose and use some trial and error to figure out how often that is. {Remember that your post will only show up in the first five tags you put down.) The second is posts on your main. You can let viewers know a little about your roleplay, let them know you’re going to be around for a while, or just include a tidbit about your day. The same rules apply for how often to post these as with your promo graphics. The third element is requesting shoutouts from RPHs. This gets your RP back into the tags without having to put yet another post on the main, as well as gets news of your RP around the RPH community. Remember to always read the RPH’s rules, be polite (please and thank you), and use their name if it’s on the blog. You only have a certain amount of characters for your shoutouts, so make them count. Keeping on top of all three of these things can be difficult, but is incredibly important to running a successful roleplay. You need to make sure you have time to do this on top of your other admin duties. I’ve always found it easiest to take care of all of my other admin things first, then dedicate a chunk of time solely to promotion.
Keeping the main up-to-date is one of the most important things you’ll have to do. This includes your character page/biographies, taken face claims list, triggers list, wanted connections, OOC masterlist, and one more thing we haven’t mentioned yet. Something Tumblr has been doing lately is eating posts in the tags. That means even though you have a tag dedicated to your group’s starters, most of them won’t show up in the tag. As an admin, it’s your responsibility to keep track of all of the starters in your group and get them out to your members another way. Some groups choose to compile a list on their page, while others choose to creat a sideblog and reblog all of the starters there. Either way, this is very, very important to making sure all of your members are included. As an admin, I prefer to take things one ask at a time. New account comes in? Post the follow, add the character, add the face claim, onto the next one. Wanted connection? Put it on the WC page, post a new wanted connection on the main, onto the next one. I find that this makes it easier to keep track of everything than getting everything out of the inbox and then trying to go back through it all.
Because there’s so much to do, you may want to consider getting one or more co-admins to help you. At least to me, it seems like most RPs have around 3 admins. It is possible to run one yourself, but you can always try on your own and ask for co-admins if you’re having trouble. You want to make sure you stay on good terms with your co-admins and consult them about updates, events, and plot drops.
Speaking of events and plot drops, that’s another thing you’ll have to take care of. Plot drops and events keep the RP alive, and if you find that the RP’s activity is a little low, something like that can help. You don’t have to do it super often, but a few days every month or so dedicated to an event can be really fun. With a horror RP, you may also want to have plot drops here and there.
You’ll also have to deal with any problems that arise in your RP. If someone comes to you with a concern about another member, you’ll have to use your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to determine exactly what’s going on and what action you should take. If you notice that someone is only writing with one or two other people, you’ll need to address it to them directly. This part can definitely be stressful and nerve-wracking, but it’s an important part of being an admin.
One way to see how you can improve your RP is to ask RPHs for their opinions. The trick is you actually have to listen to them. If you’re repeatedly being told that your graphics need work, consider getting some help with them. If they point out a broken link or typo, you’ll need to fix it. Another way to improve is to check out other RPs! You definitely should not lift anything directly from another RP, but it can help you get a feel for how everything should be set up and what types of themes and graphics are ‘in’ right now.
I’m going to end this with a link to this amazing masterlist from rpthemehelper that includes multiple posts on every topic you could need help with. I’m sorry that this was probably way more than you were expecting to read, but I hope it helped some!

Bottle- 16: Vision
Bottle Masterlist
Author’s Note: Originally posted to ao3 (This is an edited and improved version), I work in info from the comics (Like Hawkeye was married to Mockingbird and Red Skull had a disappointing daughter) and I took a few liberties with what the scepter could do (but not really because the Mind Stone was used to create the Twins so what I did is not that far-fetched). This is a lot more angst than I realized when I wrote it, but it’s compelling angst.
Summary: Cassandra Campbell is a Stark Industries lab tech with dubious genetics and a history with the new Director of SHIELD. She’s been working in New York since right before the Chitauri invasion. What does she have to do with Loki, and what will happen when he returns? Starts post TDW and continues to the end of AoU.
Pairing(s): Phil Coulson x OFC (Past), Loki x OFC (Non-con), Clint Barton x OFC, Steve Rogers x OFC
Word Count: 2237
Story Warnings: So many, worst (to me) are bolded. Younger woman/older man relationship,non-con, mutilation, torture, mind control, PTSD, depression, alcoholism, forced abortions, bad things (non-con) in a church, insomnia, memory manipulation, eventual consensual oral sex (female and male receiving),
Chapter Warnings: none
Cassie looked over at Tony as they started through security at NEXUS. "Thank you."
"What?"
"For bringing me. For not leaving me at the farm with... Nothing against her, a couple years ago I wanted what she has, but I can't... imagine just staying home and raising kids and helping with homework and..." She lost her direction as a guard ran a metal detector down her body. "The housewife thing, back when I was with Phil, that was the goal, but... it's-"
"Boring. So boring. I wouldn't want that for you. Actually, if you tried to choose that life now, Blondie, I'd tell Hydra where you are. That ain't you and I'd rather you become Junior again than go full Stepford," Tony said, crossing to the other side of security. "Steve shouldn't have tried to leave you behind. You're of better use in Korea. Of course, his bus was pretty full with your boyfriend and his girlfriend, you know."
"Nat isn't-"
"If you think they've never bumped uglies, you're deluded," Tony said, walking away as Cassie's face fell.
"That's a great strategy, Tony. Put your bodyguard into a self-conscious spiral of inadequacy. Like the gorgeous, tall, gymnast ex-wife wasn't bad enough."
"What inadequacy? You think you're something less than Romanoff?"
Cassie walked up next to him. "Yeah. How could I possibly feel like less of a woman when compared to a legit ballerina-turned-assassin-turned-spy? She's also an amazing hacker and have you seen what she wears? I'd never be able to pull off the skintight clothes and-"
"But that's not your thing," Stark interrupted, turning and grabbing her shoulder and forcing her to look up at him. "That's never been your thing. When Barton was creepin' on you through a scope from the building across the street, you weren't doing acrobatics or wearing skintight anything. You were just being you. You don't need to compete with the ex-wife, or Nat... well, maybe Nat. She's very present in his life."
"You're not helping, Tony." She sighed, deeply. "I should've just kept to the 'no dating' thing."
"Would've been the smart move," Tony agreed, walking toward a guarded area. He smiled at the guards. "Tony Stark, Cassie Campbell. We need access."
The guards nodded and moved out of the way. A blond woman walked up. "Tony. How are you?"
"I'm good. This is Cassie, my new bodyguard," Tony said, prompting a look of disbelief from the tech. "She's stronger than she looks."
"Nice to meet you."
Cassie nodded as Tony walked to a set of computers and started to type. "A hacker who's faster than Ultron? He could be anywhere. And as this is the center of everything, I'm just a guy looking for a needle in the world's biggest haystack."
"How do you find it?" the tech asked.
"Pretty simple. You bring a magnet." Cassie sighed as he began an electronic attack on the Pentagon. "Oh, I'm decrypting nuclear codes and you don't want me to." He sang. "Come and get me."
"And if this force is malevolent?" Cassie asked. "We might be-"
"Found it!" Stark interrupted, tapping furiously at the keyboards. "Now, just to... wait a second. That looks familiar. And so does..."
"What is it?"
"Not what..." he said, a new window popping up on the right screen. "Who."
"Is that..." A familiar set of orange programming came up on the screen. "Jarvis!"
"Hello, Miss Campbell."
"That's amazing. He's the one who's been holding Ultron off?"
"Of course, he was. This is Jarvis. Greatest program ever created."
"Thank you, sir."
"Let's get back to the Tower," Tony said, pulling out his tablet and uploading Jarvis to it.
**********************
Cassie walked in with Tony as Clint tried to pry the cradle open. "Anything on Nat?" Banner asked, walking up wringing his hands, worriedly.
"We haven't heard," Cassie answered.
"But she's alive, or Ultron'd be rubbing our faces in it," Tony continued, walking up to the cradle as Clint hopped off of it.
"This is sealed tight."
"We're gonna need to access the program, break it down from within," Banner said, running his hand along the top of the cradle.
"Hm. Any chance Natasha might leave you a message, outside the internet? Old-school spy stuff?" Tony asked turning to Clint.
"There's some nets I can cast. Yeah. I'll find her," Clint said, heading downstairs.
Cassie walked to the cradle, running her hand along the metal, as well. "I can work on tissue degeneration," Bruce started. "If you can fry whatever operational system Cho implanted."
"Yeah, about that," Stark started prompting Cassie and Banner to turn to him.
"No," Bruce said, backing away.
"You have to trust me." Tony stepped forward.
"Kinda don't."
"Our ally? The guy protecting the military's nuclear codes? I found him," Tony said, flicking his tablet to bring up a hologram of Jarvis' consciousness.
"Hello, Dr. Banner."
"Ultron didn't go after Jarvis 'cause he was angry. He attacked him because he was scared of what he can do. So, Jarvis went underground. Okay? Scattered, dumped his memory, but not his protocols. He didn't even know he was in there, until I pieced him together."
"So, you want me to help you put Jarvis into this thing?"
"No, of course not! I want to help you put Jarvis in this thing. Cass'll help any way she can. We can count on her." Banner shook his head while Cassie looked down at the cradle, dumbly, feeling completely out of her depth. "We're out of my field here. You know bio-organics better than anyone."
"And you just assume that Jarvis' operational matrix can beat Ultron's?"
"Jarvis has been beating him. From the inside without knowing it," Tony said, staring across the cradle at Banner.
"This is an opportunity," Cassie said, finally coming to her senses and looking up from the cradle. "We can create Ultron's perfect self."
"Without the homicidal glitches he thinks are his winning personality, exactly. We have to," Tony finished.
"I believe it's worth a go," Jarvis said.
Banner scratched his head. "I'm in a loop! I'm caught in a time loop. This is exactly where it all went wrong."
"I know, I know. I know what everyone's going to say, but they're already saying it. We're mad scientists." Tony walked up, grasping Banner's shoulder. "We're monsters, buddy. You and Cassie actually are. You gotta own it. Make a stand." Banner shook his head as Tony pressured him.
"It's not a loop, Bruce. It's the end of the line," Cassie said, looking around Tony at him.
Banner looked down, then over at the cradle. "This is a bad idea."
"Unfortunately, it's the best one we have," she said, trying to force her lips to smile, but failing.
"Okay. Let's do this. Cassie, grab those cables, we're gonna have to connect the cradle to the computer in order to upload Jarvis into the synthetic body," Banner said.
******************
"This framework is not compatible," Tony said, tapping away on the computer.
"The genetic coding tower's at 97%. You have got to upload that schematic in the next three minutes."
Cassie moved to stand in front of Bruce as Steve and the Maximoffs walked into lab. "I'm gonna say this once," Steve commanded.
"How 'bout 'nonce'?"
"Shut it down," Cap demanded.
"Nope, not gonna happen," Tony spat back.
"You don't know what you're doing," Steve said.
"And you do? She's not in your head?" Bruce gestured at the witch.
"I know you're angry," she said, walking around to Steve's side.
"Oh, we're way past that. I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade."
"I don't even have to worry about that," Cassie added.
"Banner, after everything that's happened..." Steve started.
"That's nothing compared to what's coming!" Tony shouted.
"You don't know what's in there!" Wanda shouted back.
"This isn't a game!" Rogers shouted.
"The creature..." Wanda began as her twin ran around the lab, destroying and disconnecting everything.
"No, no. Go on. You were saying?" He threw the cables on the ground and looked around the lab.
A bullet came up through the glass, causing Pietro to fall through. Wanda called his name as Cassie looked down the hole at Clint, who stepped on the mutant and smiled. "What? You didn't see that coming?"
The computer beeped at Stark, so he started tapping at the keyboard again. "I'm rerouting the upload." Steve pulled his hand back and threw his shield at the computer and Tony, who blasted him with a repulsor beam and called the rest of his suit.
Banner grabbed Wanda from behind as Cassie moved to grab Steve's shield. "Go ahead, piss me off," Banner urged as Clint ran up the stairs.
Steve jumped at Tony, intent on punching the genius, but flew backwards as another repulsor beam hit him. Tony flew backward, too, as Cassie ran for the computer. "Reroute the upload," she whispered to herself in hopes that she could figure out how to do that. She was never that great with computers. Wanda pulled herself from Banner's arms in the confusion and used her 'magic' to hit him back away from her. Cassie's eyes fell on Thor as he ran into the room and jumped on top of the cradle, calling forth a lightning bolt to hit it. Warning: Power Overload came across the screen in front of her as the upload rapidly finished. The cradle exploded open, sending Thor flying backward and everyone else to shield their eyes.
A look of awe and fear crossed everyone's faces as the red synthetic man jumped out of the cradle and looked around as he stood. He jumped at Thor, who threw him out the lab window to the living area below. He stopped just short of the glass on the outside of the building, flying in front of it and looking out at the city. Thor followed him down, as did Cap and Cassie. Thor put a hand up to stop Steve getting closer. His skin changed from almost completely red to red and green as he turned and flew to stand next to Thor in the living room. "I'm sorry, that was... odd." Jarvis' voice came out of the android. "Thank you," He addressed Thor. As he examined the Asgardian, a yellow cape appeared behind him.
"Thor. You helped create this?" Steve asked.
"I've had a vision. A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life and at its center is that." Thor pointed to the android's forehead.
"The gem?" Cassie asked, stepping forward.
"It's the Mind Stone, Lady Cassie. It's one of six Infinity Stones. The greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities."
"Then, why would you bring it to..."
"Because Stark is right."
"Oh, it's definitely the end times," Banner said, under his breath.
"We were supporting this, remember?" Cassie put her hand on his shoulder.
"The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron," Thor continued.
"Not alone," the android added.
"Why does your 'vision' sound like Jarvis?"
"We... we reconfigured Jarvis' matrix to create something new," Tony answered, walking toward the android.
"I think I've had my fill of new."
"Then, go back to sleep," Cassie responded, earning her a hurt look from the captain.
"You think I'm a child of Ultron," Vision said.
"You're not?"
"I'm not Ultron. I am not Jarvis. I am... I am," he concluded.
"I looked in your head... and saw annihilation," Wanda accused, walking forward.
"Look again."
Clint scoffed. "Yeah. Her seal of approval means jack to me."
"Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone. And they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with it on our side..." Thor started.
"Is it?" Cassie asked.
"Are you? On our side," Steve clarified.
"I don't think it's that simple," the Vision answered.
"Well, it better get real simple, real soon." Clint threatened.
"I am on the side of life. Ultron isn't. He will end it all."
"What's he waiting for?" Tony asked.
"You."
"Where?" Bruce asked.
"Sokovia," Clint answered. "He's got Nat there, too."
"If we're wrong about you..." Bruce started, walking forward with his hands clasps. "If you're the monster that Ultron made you to be..."
"What will you do?" Vision looked around at the group. The silent 'We will kill you' vibe spoke its words. He started to pace, walking past Banner. "I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique, and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the Earth, so he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the 'net. We have to act now. And not one of us can do it without the others. Maybe I am a monster." He looked down at his hands. "I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are, and not what you intended. So, there may be no way to make you trust me. But we need to go." He turned, offering Mjolnir to Thor. The Avengers' eyes focused on the hammer and Vision's lack of strain.
"Holy shit." Cassie scoffed as Thor took the hammer and Vision walked away.
"Right," Thor said, before walking up and patting Tony's shoulder. "Well done."
"Three minutes. Get what you need," Steve ordered.
"Yes, boss," Cassie said, running for the elevator.
"You going for guns?" Clint called after her.
"I'm going for anything I can get my hands on," she called back.

[TW for: worms (nothing graphic but still), implied attempted assault mention (again nothing graphic but still)]
The fuchsia looks up at the big annoying mansion and squints. Okay, sure, she has a skyscraper for her stuff, but she rents out most of the floors anyway, and that’s for work. Her biggest estate is for her ducks anyway.
God, she sounds like such a typical highblood just thinking that. But then, that’s why she’s here at this door that has a golden dang doorbell and intricately carved engravings on the metal door of -
- of something that got just a little bit damaged. Chipped. Barely noticeable. Because someone has clearly tried to cover it up by trying to bend it back in place with what has to be at least blueblood strength.
A proud highblood with a fancy door would just call a repair drone. They don’t need to cover anything up.
Great.
She rings the doorbell three times out of due diligence to convention and waits, but when she takes out her lockcracker, she’s not surprised to find the security system’s already been compromised and it clicks open in seconds.
Chimer walks through the definitely not suspiciously dark lobby, into the entry room and her boots hit something hard.
She looks down, squinting in the low light - trolls might be nocturnal but it’s seriously dark in here and -
- oh that’s bones.
That’s...scattered bones.
That’s a whole ass skeleton.
She sniffs. Oh yup that’s definitely the scent of remains, fresh ones, and - fuck it, she’s using her phone as a flashlight - are those tiny teethmarks?
She wouldn’t call them that but what else can be they be, little sharp divots into cracked marrow and bones with barely even scraps of flesh clinging to them? What the fuck did this? A school of piranhas, maybe, but do land piranhas exist? Is that a thing?
Fuck it, that’s probably a thing and also probably a taken band name, which sucks because she wants that band name now.
Well, that explains why he didn’t answer the door.
“Is this all coffee? I’m disappointed.”
“I’ll keep if you don’t want it, mate.”
She freezes at the sound of voices and then realizes they sound familiar, even if one is harder to place.
Oh you have got to be kidding.
“Allele, get out here, and get explaining because I have two questions and they are what, and also, the fuck.”
There’s some whispers and muffled noises she can’t quite make out and she realizes the other speaker has an accent too, a higher, stranger voice that reminds her of...
It’s her tealblood friend who steps into the room first, looking slightly guilty. Her voice is a little more hoarse than usual - almost like she has a cold.
“Oh shit, was he one of yours?”
The fuchsia rolls her eyes.
“Kinda? Not really. I was hoping he would be, but those sure were the yesternights when he had like, a face he could talk with. He seemed okay; background checks came back clean-ish, which is better than I can say for eighty percent of every other blueblood in power in this city.”
The kangaroo-moth troll winces and scratches her neck - which looks like it has some weird dark patch on it - eyes flicking from side to side. Her coat, the fuchsia notes, is clean. And there wasn’t any blood on the carpet either. Or much of anything besides bones.
“Uhhh...yeah. ‘Bout that. Not so much.”
Chimer sucks in a breath.
“How bad was it.”
Allele opens her mouth but gets interrupted by -
“Let’s just say we took a peek at his hard drive and my goodness, I think anyone who possessed even the dullest, most broken moral compass, no matter where it pointed, would agree it pointed far away from him.”
Them.
Etuuya Vannyn steps into the room, sprightly as a mountain goat, eyes practically beacons in the dark with how bright they shine yellow and green and everything makes sense now.
Chimer looks at Allele.
“Girl. Please. Higher standards? Maybe? A little? A crumb, for your good pal Chimer?”
Allele starts, head swiveling like a hootbeast’s as she looks back and forth between the pair of trolls, one nearly a foot taller with crossed arms and pressed back fins and the other, well.
The other isn’t really a troll at all.
“You two - what - how”
Her friend waves a hand.
“I’ll explain later, you explain now. Not you.” She adds, pointing at the fake jade, who mimes zipping their lips with the utmost wide-eyed innocent look. “Allele. Start talking.”
“Ok, so, we think we might’ve found the resistance - “
The taller woman raises a hand.
“Hold up. This place is clean, right? Clean as we can reasonably get it?”
Allele nods.
“Guy had his own hardcore blockers and boy do we know why now, plus we set our own background noise creator and waffler too. Couple’a more organic bugs running around as a distraction just so anyone peeking finds something, cos that’s less eye-catchy than a void.”
Chimer nods; in Civitrecce it’s always less suspicious to have a few spies running around - any absence of them will just draw others like moths to flame. So anyone smart will have their own bugs in the area looking like outside eavesdroppers to discourage or fight off the others if it becomes necessary. Of course, even your own spies can be hacked, controlled by some beastspeaker if they’re bio enough - but that’s just the risk everyone takes.
“Okay, so, you think you found the resistance. The one I have tried, and failed, to track down for half my life. My life that is way longer than yours, sport.”
Allele snorts.
“Yer also a great bleedin’ political figure, you dumbarse. They know how to hide from you, wouldn’t be very good at their jobs if they didn’t, huh?”
“Wow, I never thought of that.” Retorts the seadweller. “Yeah that’s why I totally went looking for them as myself, and also never had anyone else on the case. I am the dumbest pair of fins that ever flopped on land, ya got me, show’s over.”
Allele shakes her head.
“You don’t get it. Everything you do, just by existin’, makes some kinda impact in the data stream. They can always feel you comin’ even if you try to be quiet cos you’re like a carp in a pond of minnows. Sure the other carp won’t notice you, but the minnows will even if you swim slow. Folks you set on the case got that connection too. You’re just proper fucked, not your fault really.”
Chimer grinds her teeth, fins ruffling in disappointment. It makes sense and she hates it. It’s just - if she could find them and help them, they could achieve so much. It’s risky, but if even half the rumors she’s heard about the kind of psiionics they have are true...
“Right. Fine. Spiffy. So what does the resistance have to do with this guy?”
Allele brightens up, but lowers her voice.
“Cause we think we found one of ‘em and they offered us a reward for taking him out and retrieving his data.”
“What kind of reward?”
“Info, what else. Not like they have a ton of cash to throw around. Not legit stuff anyway.”
Chimer considers this. From the very little she’s been able to pin down about the resistance - and their mode of operations has changed throughout the sweeps anyway, though always with an obvious emphasis on secrecy - that does match up.
They rarely rob their victims directly, or else no one’s been able to catch them at it, because electronic fund thefts are too easy to trace in the city - there’s a whole legislacerator branch dedicated to it.
They’ve ripped caegers away from highbloods before to expose them for corruption and let their fellows swoop in and tear them apart, or ruined businesses by crashing their stock, but their tack is usually redistributing the wealth to the city’s lowbloods en masse. Generous, also makes it basically impossible to track to its source when divided up so small.
“Wait. ‘We?’ Just how long have you two been up to murdershenanigans? I mean - dumbass question, you’re both murdershenanigans types, but like, together. As an unholy duo.”
Allele looks guilty and then defensive, her muscular, scarred arms crossing to mirror the fuchsia’s own.
“Some perigees. What’s it to you? I didn’t know you knew ‘em. Besides, they’re good at it and they know a lot, s’nice to work with an older troll and pick things up.”
The fuchsia groans.
“Allele. I mean this in the nicest possible way, but you’re off your goddang rocker. Do you actually know anything about what you’re standing next to? They’re imperial.”
“Were.” She insists. “Just like me! They told me and I looked some stuff up. M’not stupid, Chimer.”
The teal’s tone is resentful and ugh, she guesses she should be nicer but why them.
Especially with the fucking skeleton on the floor.
The rainbowdrinker is apparently so unconcerned by the conversation that they have...pulled out a swap and are playing lusus passing.
All right then.
“Fine. Cool. What did this guy do? What data did they want you to get?”
“Lists of bribes.” Allele says, much more somber now. “Trolls he bribed to ignore his shit.” She shudders. “There were a lot.”
“Bribes for -“
“Lowblood fighting rings. And worse.” Interjects the drinker, looking up. “Much worse. He trafficked in everything if someone was selling along his shipping routes. Even had deals with the Neishis.”
They must know. They must know what that name means to her, but there’s no smug satisfaction or knowing smile. Their face is deathly serious, all former levity gone.
Do they...care? Actually care?
If what they’re saying is true - and Allele believes them - then they technically did her a favor by stopping her before she could reach out to him, and it sounds like...
No, she’s got to be sane. This isn’t how things should be handled. She can’t let her own feelings get in the way; that’s what all her enemies expect from her.
“So the solution was not coming to me but eating him. Yeah, that sounds legit.”
“Didn’t even leave me anything for jerky.” Complains the teal.
Chimer gives her a look that speaks volumes and all of them are punctuated five exclamation points deep.
“Hey, it’s my thing.” Mumbles the teal defensively, looking down. “Waste not, all that shit.”
“You’ve got no good excuse for your power trip cannibalism, you weirdo. At least they don’t have a choice. But...”
The seadweller’s voice trails off as she looks at the empty sockets of the skeleton, the picked-clean vertebrae. This was a whole troll, not a small one, and now he’s just...remains.
“How, and why, did he wind up like this. Don’t you only drink blood?”
“Mmhmhm...technically. But given I am...unusual, I can also pulp flesh into liquid and drink it if I want to. It’s often not worth the effort, but I was hungry...and mad.”
Their little laugh creeps her out, and how do they do that. Just what type of drinker are they?
She knows they were designed as some kind of spy system, but she never knew the details of Rhomox’s project - hardly wanted to spend more time talking to the guy than she had to, he was insufferable, and the caverns weren’t releasing anything at the time.
“Allele. Come on. I don’t care if you wanna kill random clowns or legis or whatever but this is gonna have consequences and leave a power vacuum. He could well get replaced by someone worse.”
She shakes her head.
“Almost no one as bad as him even among highbloods. And we know cause he took...he took so many photos. I was almost sick.”
Her old friend does look ill at the very thought, and the drinker simply looks unreadable, watchful.
The seadweller sighs and puts two fingers to her forehead.
“Fine. I’ll accept he maybe deserved this but did you have to kill him in his own hive, his hive I was last seen entering and my staff knew I was going to visit, so there are records? This is gonna look really fucking bad for me.”
Allele’s mouth opens in surprise and then she shuts it, looking chastened.
“No. I made sure I was caught by a delayed camera drone, but that miss Yorkyt was not. This is just an unfortunate drinker attack you stumbled on.”
The teal spins to face her companion.
“What! You didn’t tell me that.”
“We were a little busy disabling all the guard droids, hmm? You’re welcome.”
She looks a bit thrown, but nods.
Chimer snorts.
“Yeah, drinker attack. What kind of drinker does this? Sure you’re not a really chatty zombie?”
They look at her, head tilted, and then hold up their arm, sleeve falling down so their slim wrist is exposed.
Something wriggling pokes out of the skin, one, two, several of them gleaming white and as she leans closer to look she sees they have...fangs.
Then they all go back in, and her eyebrows have climbed into hairline.
“Huh.”
So that’s what Epsilo is so afraid of. That’s what attacked Amdzah...but he only had two bite marks in his neck, the standard drinker punctures. Nothing like this.
That’s what Claire keeps around.
That’s what Allele is insane enough to ally with.
“Well that’s a thing. Hey, Allele.”
“Yeah?”
“Where did you misplace your mind, maybe we can claim it at the lost and found.”
The assassin scowls, her long angular face twisted in a frown.
“Aren’t ya supposed to be accepting and all that junk?”
“Sure, and I’m also supposed to use my thinkpan.”
“They’re right here, don’t be fuckin’ rude.”
She rolls her eyes.
“All right. Shoot. Sell me on why this is actually smart and they’re not just going to eat us too.”
Allele makes an offended noise, then coughs, but the drinker simply looks at her with amusement.
“Well, I’m full at the moment for one thing. And for another, I happen to respect you and miss Yorkyt. You don’t deserve what I did to him. Though it was rather fun.”
Morbid curiosity pushes her onward, even though the fuchsia knows she might well regret it.
“...what happened.”
“We disabled his systems and his droids, Allele knocked out the few troll staff and got them away via transportalizer. He tried to attack her and she fended him off a perfectly decent blast, but he was clearly on some sort of steroids and even a sonic wail didn’t do much to him. He got his hands round her neck and was about to tear her coat off...and that’s when I tackled him down.”
Their eyes glow brightly again and they smile, long needle teeth showing.
“I swarmed out into his body and it’s funny, how even the biggest most muscular troll will writhe when their innards are being devoured.” They say in a soft voice.
“It’s funny how they’ll scream and beg and curse, being at the mercy of someone else, when they get such a kick out of doing it to others. Of course, when I ate his tongue he couldn’t curse anymore, though his eyes were certainly enough to get the message across, and when I ate his throat...mmhmhm. And then I ate his hateful eyes, and the rest of him followed.”
Allele’s hoarseness. That dark spot has to be a bruise.
Chimer clenches her fists.
“That’s not...for fuck’s sake. We can’t just eat and kill who we want because they’re bastards. Look I get it, this guy was absolutely evil and creeping Sufferer I would’ve wanted to kill him myself but this wasn’t the way to solve it. If you’d brought me evidence I could’ve - ”
“ - had him in front of a legislacerator court, miss Latrai? I guarantee he would’ve already had bribes or blackmail on half the jury. Or would you give him to the lowbloods whose quadrants he and his trolls abused? Poetic justice, certainly, but they would be culled for it if they were found out, and everything gets found out here.”
She hisses, fins fluffed out in sheer irritation. It makes sense, it all makes shitty annoying sense.
“An’ you couldn’t have locked him up yourself,” Allele chips in, “cause you would’ve been discovered too.”
“Yeah, thanks, brah. Really what I need to hear right now.”
She fixes the - whatever they are - with a glare.
“I don’t see why I shouldn’t just kill you.”
Tuuya tilts their head again, their wavy hair bobbing.
“No reason, really. Would you like to? I have a weapon that can do it.”
She blinks.
“Are you serious.”
“Of course. Being killed by you would be a decent way to go.”
“No! What? You can’t! Why?”
Allele winces and rubs her throat after her cry, but looks at them confused and hurt.
They look back at her calmly.
“I deserve this, miss Yorkyt. I am no hypocrite. I tried to end my own undead existence long ago, but being what I am, it is impossible. My worms will always stop me. So I need someone else to do it, someone who deserves to kill me, and miss Latrai is perfect for the job. The fuchsia who tries so hard to see justice done in a fundamentally unjust world, moirail of Sevenn Tarann. She kills a monster and the world is a little better for it. That’s nice, isn’t it?”
This is weird. This is so weird. She expected them to fight her. To protest. But they really are willing? Unless it’s some kind of trick.
They pull out a long knife and hand it to her.
“It gets superheated.” They advise her. “The casing and guard will protect you from the worst of the convection. Be careful to get every last worm, or I could come back.”
They stand patiently, hands clasped.
Allele looks...upset. Somehow. Is that how Claire would feel? Do they have other people who care about them? They’re creepy, but...Margol seems to like them too.
Stupid. She should just...do it. Get it over with. Get rid of the threat not only to trolls in general but mutants and limes if the empire ever got their hands on them again. Eliminate the risk.
Aren’t ya supposed to be accepting and all that junk?
There are limits, right? No one can complain about her killing a worm swarm. It’s not like killing a mutant or a lime or anyone else the empire has decided is too weak to be allowed to live. And they’re sadistic. Killing that blueblood was a delight for them, not an unfortunate duty.
She doubts they always restrict themselves to morally bankrupt victims either. They’ve probably drank from plenty of lowbloods who can’t afford to be weakened that way.
Claire would be better off without them. So would Allele. Look what they did to Amdzah; they could snap any time.
But Amdzah only had the one wound, and even Epsilo said he turned up with it bandaged...
UGH.
“I can’t.” She growls. “I’d get too much flack for it. I don’t need more problems right now, dealing with this is enough. You two realize it’s not just him, right? You wanna do this properly, you’re gonna have to take down his whole network.”
“Duh.” Says the teal, rolling her eyes. “What did you think we were gonna do?”
She looks not a little bit relieved.
The drinker’s face is unreadable.
“So you won’t, then?”
“Nope, sorry.”
The fuchsia hands the knife back. They put it away in their sylladex.
“If you change your mind, you are welcome to.” They state.
“Cooool. Anyway, we should all make ourselves scarce. Tell me how it goes with your maybe-a-resistance contact.”
With that the politician turns and leaves, back out the damaged door into the moonlight. She sighs, running a hand through her hair.
Nothing’s ever simple, is it. Nothing’s ever easy, doing it her way. Sometimes she envies her teal friend and her uncomplicated morals.
But someone has to believe in a better way, no matter how unrealistic it is. No matter how hard it is to get there.
Whatever Cherie says, it’s not just because of how she was made, whose soul she got. She chose it. She’ll keep choosing it.
No matter what.

How to Network Online Like a Champ
New Post has been published on https://tiptopreview.com/how-to-network-online-like-a-champ/
How to Network Online Like a Champ
This conference season feels a bit different, doesn’t it? Where we’re usually globetrotting from event to event, this year most conferences have either postponed their dates or switched to online, remote-friendly formats, offering video sessions by top-notch speakers or live streams with open chats. But what about everyone’s favorite bonus during conference season — networking?
Thankfully, all is not lost! With a little ingenuity and virtual elbow grease, you can still forge new professional relationships over an internet connection rather than a cocktail. (And hey, nothing’s stopping you from enjoying a nice, frosty Mozcow Mule or tasty mocktail in your home office space, right?) In our current reality of social distancing, marketing conference networking will look different, but it’s not going anywhere. Read on for tips on how to effectively network while remote!
Step 1: Look for networking opportunities
Depending on which virtual event you attend, the networking opportunities will look different. Keeping a creative eye out for opportunity is key to your success!
Live chats
Much like during regular conferences, there are bound to be live chats happening. They may happen on the actual event platform, or they may take place on social media. Some events will use a platform like Zoom that allows viewers to chat with each other within the platform, while others may have more of a broadcast format where chats happen on Twitter with a hashtag.
Joining Q&As
A super valuable aspect of conferences is being able to speak to presenters after they give their talk. Sometimes this happens during a predetermined time slot, such as right after the presentation, or it may happen when you catch them in the lobby or at an event later on. Either way, this time to ask questions about their expertise is a huge value-add to the experience.
With conferences going virtual and live chats happening publicly during the presentations, this Q&A time has shifted a bit. Instead of having to wait for the presentation to be over, in some cases, presenters will reply to questions from the live chat as they’re speaking. Some panels are pre-recorded, giving speakers a chance to interact on various platforms during the event itself. Some events will even have specific “presentations” that are more like facilitated Ask Me Anything-style interviews or panels where questions are taken from the audience and posed to the speaker(s).
Birds of a Feather discussions
Many conferences will offer some sort of industry or concept specific conversation facilitation. For instance, at MozCon, we host Birds of a Feather discussions. These discussions are headed up by an industry professional and have predetermined topics such as EAT, AI, Gutenberg, etc. Other times, these conversations may be organized and headed up by attendees.
In a virtual setting, these will likely be smaller breakout groups using some sort of video chat software. Zoom, specifically, has created a way for conferences to organize these “breakout sessions” in advance.
Birds of a Feather conversations are one of the best ways to connect as there is a common ground established from the get-go. These. Are. Your. People. Connections here will likely be the most valuable.
Step 2: Get active
No matter where the chats are happening, be sure you’re a part of them! The more you interact, the more likely people are to recognize your name when you reach out after the event. The only caution here is that you have to be sure your interactions are meaningful — don’t just comment clapping hands. Add something to the conversation.
Add insight
The best thing about people is that we’re all different and have fresh perspectives to bring to the table. Don’t be afraid to add on to someone’s thoughts.
Let’s use a fun example. If someone says that the best mascot hug ever was from Mickey Mouse at Disneyland, you may jump in and ask if they’ve ever met Roger MozBot, famed hugger and robot dancer extraordinaire. Or you could build on the thought by saying something like, “Mickey is a great hugger, I think it’s because he goes over instead of under!”
In both of these instances, you’ve joined the conversation and added value.
Add clarification
Speakers often try to fit a lot of information into a relatively short timeframe. That said, questions will likely arise in the live chats. This could very easily be your time to shine! If you’ve got knowledge to share, feel free to answer the question to the best of your ability and try to add clarification.
This is absolutely one of the best ways to position yourself as an expert and form a relationship with someone you’ve never met. It allows you to prove you’re knowledgable and give the person something they value for free.
Add sources
Whether you are asking a question, answering a question, or just chiming in with added insight, adding resources in conversation is extremely beneficial. This could mean that you recommend a tool, a person, or an article link. These resources for the other viewers can be extremely beneficial and help you establish your credibility.
Now, we don’t suggest trying to come up with a source for everything, but if you have one right off of the top of your head, dropping a link in the chat may really help someone.
BONUS: Add people on social
While this one’s not necessarily about adding value per se, it is about adding. Adding influencers, presenters, or other attendees after interacting with them (even if briefly) may increase your chances of getting a follow-back or accepted request as you’ll still be top of mind. Try to add people no later than 24 hours after your last interaction, and consider sending a friendly “hey!” with a note about what you spoke about to keep the connection fresh.
Step 3: Perfect your follow-up
After connecting with people during the online conference, you’ll want to follow up with them and stay in touch.
The most important part of following up is the first impression. You don’t want to come right out of the gate with a request of any sort. Instead, look to build a relationship first. This could mean shooting a quick follow-up message recapping your conversation with the person, telling them that you appreciated their time and that you look forward to more conversations.
After sending your initial follow-up, be sure to interact with the person at least once a week to stay top-of-mind. This is easiest on social media as you can like, comment, share their content, and ensure that your name is showing up in their notifications. However, direct messages, emails, and even phone calls are sure to be more impactful.
The best thing you can do when following up is to stick to what you’re most comfortable with and be consistent while continuing to add value.
Have fun and be yourself!
The number-one thing you have to offer is yourself. Your experiences make you unique and others can learn from that! So when you are connecting with others, just remember to be yourself. And lastly, have fun! Networking is meant to be fun as it gives you the opportunity to connect with others and build a community. Embrace that connection and enjoy it.
Networking at MozCon Virtual
Every year, we hear from attendees about how networking is one of their favorite parts of the conference. We made sure to keep it an integral part of this year’s virtual event, too — check out all the ways you can connect with speakers, industry experts, attendees, and thought leaders at MozCon Virtual 2020!
In-session Q&A chat
Mid-presentation, pop into the Q&A chat with your real-time questions and get them answered by speakers. You’ll also be able to chat with other attendees about the content, provide your own insights, and participate in real-time virtual convos about the session and topic. Speakers will be available to answer questions during their scheduled session times, so it’s a perfect opportunity to get clarification, further insight, or forge those all-important connections!
Customizable profiles: Interests, personal bio, tags, and more
Attendees can search for like-minded folks with similar interests based on what you add to your profile when signing in. You can choose to upload your photo, create your biography, add specific interests and tags, and reach out to those you’d like to follow up with.
Create your own “Want-to-Meet” list
Browse attendee profiles and click “want to meet” when you find someone you’d like to reach out to later. With your personal contact info safely hidden, this is a great way to find and get found by those looking for new talent, professional partnerships, debate buddies, and more. Build your list ahead of time, then review in-platform and reach out when you’re ready!
Schedule 1:1 meetings
After connecting with someone, you can easily send a meeting request to the folks you’ve connected with to chat live outside of the bigger group discussions. Your invited guest can choose to accept or decline the invite, and all 1:1 meetings occur directly within the conference platform’s meeting rooms, making for easy facilitation!
Birds of a Feather “table” discussions
Birds of a Feather lunch tables are one of the biggest MozCon hits year after year, and we didn’t want anyone to miss out! We’ll facilitate 30-minute-long group discussions each day of the conference for you to connect with those interested in specific topics via video and audio chat. Each discussion will be led by an industry leader, giving you all the opportunity to say “hey” to the folks whose work you admire and collaborate with them on ideas, theories, obstacles you’ve faced, and more.
We’re super excited about all the networking opportunities at MozCon Virtual — at $129 per ticket, it’s an incredible value for growing your digital marketing skillset and your career:

Hey there Bree. We're a revamped spy rpg set in 1960s New York currently releasing our bios and we would love to get an opinion from you if possible. Thanks
Absolutely!
Theme: This is so stylish and classy, I just immediately when “Oooh!” aloud! It’s neat, organized, and perfectly legible. The graphics are very easy on the eyes and thoroughly in keeping with your setting. And I don’t have to jump through hoops or do a lot of clicking around to find things! A+!
Plot: Having it right there at the top of your navigation page is a novelty to me, but I love it. No questioning, just boom, there it is! And it’s exactly what it says on the box, so there’s no confusion as to what your plot is. You’ve kept it concise which I think is good. Spy-based plots can get so convoluted that it’s natural to want to over-explain everything, making sure people can connect all the threads, but often that takes away from the excitement of the plot. Keeping it short and simple as you’ve done here helps keep some of the mystery, which is, of course, imperative for a spy RP! A+, with bonus points for that awesome trailer!
Rules: A thorough and solid set of rules, covering all the bases, basics, and extras you might require for this particular RP. No notes for this section—I’m not left with any questions! A+!
Application: Great application. I especially like that it challenged the applicant to discuss where they want to go with the character. They’ve been given a ton of great info in the bio, now they have to show that they have some kind of goal for the character. One note, it might be good to update your sample application to more closely reflect the current app. It’s a great example of some things, but it doesn’t cover all the areas of your current app, which could get confusing. Other than that, A+ here, too!
Content: You’ve provided a ton of awesome content to set the scene for this RP. The characters are fantastic—lots of great diversity and representation, a wide array of roles just going off of your currently posted bios, really the whole package. (And the FCs! I’ve rarely seen so many of my favorite FCs in one place together, it was very exciting to see!) Your locations page is shaping up to be lovely and informative, though at the moment I can’t see any images other than the Photobucket error page, but that’s easy to fix when you have the time. Your checklist is solid, your FAQ is great and in the perfect location, and your Updates and Admins sections are awesome. I only have a couple of notes and they’re all quick fixes. First is that you might want to double check some of the links to bios in your character masterlist. When I clicked on bios for a few people (ex: I was looking at some NB characters like Cherie and Azhur), they came to “not found” pages. But when scrolling through the Open Characters tags, I saw several of them (Cherie and Azhur included). Second, I saw two bios that were missing header images. Again, super easy fixes whenever you have the time. Overall, A+!
I love being able to give all A+’s to RPs!! You’ve got a great thing going here and I really hope that your revamp goes well. It’s awesome to see that you have a couple of applications already, too! Everyone, if you’re looking for a well thought out and diverse LSRP, PLEASE love yourself and come give these guys a look! I’m definitely going to be lurking and waiting for a few specific bios to come out. :D

Hi mun! I just wanted to say I completely adore your character WindChill! I don't mean to burden you but I find myself wanting to start up an Ron blog about my own tf OC but I don't know how to go about it. Any tips and suggestions?
(( It’s not a burden, I’m glad you enjoy my OC! Reading this I’m going to assume you already have an OC in mind and know how to roleplay: if I’m wrong correct me and I’ll delve into those topics as well. Let’s see if I can keep this concise yet informative, shall we? I’ll organize this into basic steps and go from there.
Make your blog. I would personally recommend that you make a separate blog to RP on, though it is a matter of convenience. Some people prefer sideblogs but their limitations can be an enormous hurdle in tumblr RP.
Choose your URL, but feel free to use a stand-in URL if you haven’t chosen one yet, as it can always be changed later. I’m listing this as a separate step because your URL is important: it’s like the title of a book, an effective URL is going to inform people about your blog and be MEMORABLE. If people can’t remember your URL they’re not going to be able to find your blog, much less remember your character.
Find a serviceable theme, on an RP blog your theme can do a lot of the heavy lifting in setting the stage and mood so I’d recommend taking your time on it (but not so long you lose motivation or just don’t fucking finish, like me, my theme is not a good example,) until it ‘fits’ what you need it to do. This can also be changed later so if you don’t get the perfect theme right away it’s no actual hindrance, just keep in mind that like your URL, and effective theme goes a long way.
Install Xkit if you haven’t already, in the name of everything you hold dear install Xkit or an equivalent.
TF specific: decide whether your muse is going to be open to the multiverse. Most people are so by being ‘multiverse aware’ you’re going to have the widest net of potential RP partners. The beauty of the TF franchise is that the multiverse and crossovers are both canon, so it’s easy to explain and widely accepted if you mix and match continuities. There are folks who strictly play in the continuity their muse is based on, so it’s your heart’s desire there.
Have a rules page! This is a monster sized topic in and of itself, so feel free to either hit me up for rules-specific advice, or just read over/copy and edit my rules page to get the gist of what’s expected.
Have an about/bio page for your character! TF specific details to include are going to be: continuity, faction, role/function, alt mode, and SIZE. Most people prefer more details on OCs so that they can get a feel for a new character, so add as much as you feel like from there! My about page for instance includes a bunch of info that nobody even needs to know, but it’s there for MY OWN REFERENCE so that I can write consistently.
Open your askbox for the love of god.
Tag everything. Xkit can change tags for you later, but the more organized your tags are the easier running your blog will be in the long run, trust me.
This might sound controversial but I’m saying it regardless: if you have art of your OC, whore that shit out. Humans are visual creatures and it can only work to your advantage. You’ll notice virtually all of the popular OCs have one thing in common: artwork, whether the mun drew it or received it as gifts/commissions. There are muns who do nothing but order commissions of their OC, they don’t RP or otherwise contribute to the fandom and yet their OC’s are wildly popular because people see them everywhere. Can you be a popular and successful OC without it? Of course, but it makes it a lot easier and people will be less critical of your character with it. It’s basically cheating, and I’m a cheater. I realize this ‘advice’ is not some that everyone can use, but if you can it’s a major leg up in getting people interested in your OC.
Following that, know what makes your OC unique and flaunt it. Using Windchill as an example, let’s be honest: there are a lot of seekers, snipers, and gigantic muses on here, but only ONE likes unicorns, reads bad romance novels and uses humour to shield himself from trauma. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a hobby, quirk, or a defining personality trait so long as you have something that stands out. ‘Gimmicks’ and running jokes are good because it’s something people will remember about your character and be able to play off of in interactions!
When you feel your blog is ready to handle some RPs, start following people that seem interesting. (Just be sure to read their rules and about pages!) MOST folks are welcoming of OCs in the TF fandom. Don’t be afraid to say hi or send memes.
I’d also recommend that you join live IC events when you can! Most IC movie streams, art streams, and Cards Against Humanity games are open to new people and are pretty prolific in TF RP. It’s a great way to put yourself and your OC out there and interact with a lot of people in a low-pressure environment
TF Specific: decide how you feel about eggs because the TF RP community is fucking obsessed with eggs I shit you not.
There’s a lot of material I didn’t even touch in this enormous wall of text, so LET ME KNOW if you have other questions, haven’t RP’d on tumblr before or don’t have an OC yet and I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m able! ))

Hi there! I've been on Tumblr for a few months now and I've been thinking about starting a RP blog, starting out with Assassin's Creed (cause Jacob Frye is the BOMB! Love this man
I sure do! Also, oh my goodness, my sincerest apologies for the lateness of this reply :’) and omg, you’re too kind, thank you so much for the compliment!
First things first- don’t be like me. The second you get things, I highly suggest answering them as the longer they sit the less motivation you have to reply. Kinda like homework haha! ((I’m just kidding roleplaying is waayyy more fun))
Alrighty, but in all seriousness *cracks knuckles*
Here’s a suuuuper basic rundown on anything roleplay related! If you still have any further questions, don’t hesitate to let me know!
So, basics: do your research.
Whether you’re roleplaying a canon character or an original character, your goal is to not make them feel like a character, but a human being, and in order to do that you must make them feel “3-D” in a sense. What that means is you can have a fancy backstory, yeah, but if you plan on your character having a tragic backstory such as being the lone survivor of a house fire and their entire family going up in flames, then that would definitely cause some PTSD and behaviors that should be demonstrated later on in their lives, such as possibly still getting over the guilt of the incident, trying to figure out why they were the only one to survive, and, of course, most likely being petrified of fire or hating the smell of smoke.
Second, if you’re just starting out, don’t be intimidated by formatting or get caught up in aesthetics. Just focus on finding your own writing style and making sure your followers can easily navigate the content of your blog, (aka, just find a good, basic theme that has easy to find links). In terms of what consists of a good roleplay theme, you always want links! As there are a few basic pages you’ll most likely end up finding you’ll want to have. One major one is of course an about or bio page, another for verses, an about page for yourself, etc... depending on what you want. Here is an awesome link that goes into depth on roleplay blog formats 101. I would go into depth myself, but there is a lot of info there, such as triggers, headcanon’s, what a mundane page is, and so forth. (And once again, if something isn’t clear by all means message me!)
If you plan on roleplaying an original character, I highly insist on having a bio page, however. It’s not exactly required, but there are a lot of roleplay blogs that prefer them, (myself included- won’t lie, my opinion here is a bit biased because of that), and once again, they’re always rather helpful for people that don’t know your character as well as you do. They’re super helpful for anyone wanting to get to know your character, and I know for me personally it helps to have a reference to go back to in order to look at character traits such as height, hair color, etc... so I get those details right when writing out a reply. This link will direct you to the best mary sue test ever, and what taught me the ability to develop good characters, as even if you may ‘fail’ this mary sue test, it really gets you to think about what traits you want to give a character and why they have them.
OH and while I’m at it, this site and this site are super helpful in finding a faceclaim for an original character! You don’t have to have one of those either, but once again they are helpful as they really bring your character to life, and I honestly found searching for ‘your character’ to be super fun!
Hands down, don’t ever feel afraid to talk to people! You would be surprised how many people are willing to roleplay! Of course be respectful of when people have it stated that are selective/semi-selective on their blog, as that tells you how willing a blog is to roleplay with everyone who asks, as, unfortunately, you can’t always roleplay with everyone. (And never take that personally if you get turned down, literally 99.9999% of the time it has nothing to do with you, it’s merely because the person can no longer take in any new interactions or are currently short on time.)
Also, something that took me forever to learn, but if a blog also is listed as private (usually along with selective) that means they roleplay with a set community or group of people. Don’t let that discourage you, however, as they may still be willing to interact! You never know :)
Going along with that- promote all the way! If you have the time I totally suggest making a promotion for your blog, which is a simple post with your url and whatever else you’d like that you shove out into the tumblr world for all those to see- and usually they do help in garnering your blog some new interactions.
One last thing- tags will become your life saver. With all the interactions you may end up having, along with possible multiple verses, and multiple links, you’re going to want to keep your blog organized, so set up a system for yourself! Tag verses, make sure to tag those you’re roleplaying with in replies, and above all make sure to tag whatever you need to be able to easily find everything!
Honestly, this blog is usually my go-to as they have amazingly detailed links and answers to questions, so check them out as they go into way more depth about things that I can’t currently fit in this answer, eheh- but there’s also a lot to go over, and I don’t want to overwhelm you right now. Take your time, read through everything, and as always, you can totally shoot me an ask for any other questions you have!
