I genuinely love Kraw and all other Mossy’s characters especially Gen and Jago and their world building continues to amaze me!! I have post notifications on just so I can see their posts as soon as possible 😆😆

I think if Kraw and Creature existed together they would actually be good pals bc they have a lot in common (adopted daughters, sea monsters ((but creature is a reptile not a mammal idk if that would change anything)), parental complications, being uncomfortably tall, etc)

Plus they’re both Big Boys™️ so they would finally have a buddy their size to wrestle

Speaking of dump, Uhh I guess I’m just gonna lay most of Kraw’s dirty medical laundry out here. Might take a few detours.

Short answer is yes, he does have some complications. There were more of them during the healing process, where Sylvaine was working on getting his medications right and stabilizing him. For a typical body it would be nearly impossible to acclimate to anything made with Yvishnir’s Crux. This organ transplant could never work on a biological being that wasn’t the Myce. Since Kraw is technically born from one of Yvishnir’s many parasitic wombs, his body is taking it a LOT better than Sylvaine’s when she tried it on herself.

Sylvaine has essentially turned Kraw into her personal project, which Kraw semi-consents to,(I say semi consent because she implanted a sort of chip into him without him knowing, where she keeps track of him and all his vitals through it 😬) since good health care is hard to come by outside of The Ladder’s jurisdiction and Sylvaine guarantees it for him and Gen despite her…eccentricity. He also owes her for essentially wrecking shop whenever he first arrived at her estate.

Anyway the liver and the femur binding Kraw received are essentially homunculi that she created herself to function as body parts, so she also claims that he’s ‘walking around with her property’

Thankfully during the beginning of his recovery he was comatose for a few weeks, which was a lot easier on Ari. She was his nurse and was still juggling her learnings from Sylvaine while being a cattle veterinarian at the time. Random aside but It’s honestly thanks to her that Kraw isn’t hooked on opioids from his surgery. Sylvaine is a bit careless when it comes to inflicting serious vices on other people.

When Kraw woke up he definitely did not do well being bedridden. When he wasn’t doped up and knocked out on pain meds and the like he was having to be restrained. (Ari still gets jumpy around him because of this and it makes him feel awful whenever he notices her flinch if he raises his hand too fast or something like that.)

As for the actual medication he takes now, he takes a regular dosage of dewormer because of Sylvaine’s intense obsession/fear of parasites and imagining what would happen if they were able to squirm their way into Kraw’s liver. She’s frustrated at him insisting on eating raw meat/fish on occasion but he claims his body handles it because it’s natural and he’s done since he was a child. Which is probably true.

After the surgery he also gained a form of Diabetes directly caused by his liver secreting a strange type of glucose from the Crux moving through his body now. He takes a modified insulin concoction which may or may not double as a stabilizer prescribed by Sylvaine (she has connections). He doesn’t talk to anyone else about the diabetes though because he feels they’ll immediately judge him given his weight. Can you imagine? Hey yeah I have diabetes because my alien liver from that dead star makes too much weird alien sugar and my cells don’t know what to do with it at the moment.

He’s also takes a type of hormone suppressant so he’s less aggressive during certain times of the year because for someone like him it can get dangerous. He still has somewhat of a sex drive, he’s just less scary about it.

And last but not least, antidepressants. It helps with his irritability and ruminating somewhat, and because stress is Not Good For Him. Which is funny, since he decided to have a child.

Also yes Gen has a tail in the second panel. I’ve been considering giving her a little tail as a genetic defect of sorts since she’s technically a lab grown human. Because why shouldn’t I, it’s cute.

how paralytic is the stinger? "flop uselessly" paralytic, or "breathing halted" paralytic?

Sorry I’m catching this late, I’m assuming it’s in reference to Yuna’s opposable toe stingers.

I’d say it depends on the size of the unfortunate receiver of the Stab. If a Cetapent is using it on another cetapent, it would just cause large areas of the body to go numb for a minute or two. Usually they’ll try to go for the back legs so they will have a harder time moving. It’s not a lasting effect though, just a way to fight dirty, catch easy prey or a good stun to get away from annoyances, like persistent males. It also just hurts to be stabbed by them lol.

It’s also good for solicitors haha

(I think I mentioned it before but I don’t remember) As far as Kraw is aware, Yuna’s presumably dead in the present time line. It happened when he was very young and was then taken by his father Sobehk and given to Lady of the Shades. He has very…convincing memories of Yuna dying.

But as a young pup I’d say their relationship was very complicated, for her anyway . Imagine the most disgruntled old lady who’s been by herself for an untold amount of time suddenly being saddled with a weird baby.

She sort of felt like she owed him his life since he made it out of her shriveled womb (she didn’t know it was just replaced by a parasite). He was the first calf not to be a miscarriage, she still expected him to die any day though, surprised every morning to hear his fluttering heartbeat.

He was soon growing old enough to question why he didn’t seem to look like his mom but would happily try to imitate her in every way. She would keep him at her side at all times. They were constantly observing each other.

I’d say Kraw feels closest to Yuna when he goes on his hunts by himself. No boat, no fishing, no clothes, just his feral instincts, physical prowess and visceral power. Maim rip and tear and all that.

Anyway this one kind of had me getting back to my leviathans and kind of revisiting some of their designs. So I kind of went all out in redrawing them specifically for this size chart, because you’re right anon I like size charts too.

Apologies, these might look a bit crunchy and I’m also posting their standalones as well.

These are all the leviathan class fauna that have been recorded and classified by Ladder expeditions, so they’re only the known leviathans ;)

I’m starting off with the lightweights. They’re not nessecarily leviathans but just so you can actually see the human comparison on the page (I added alt text to these just in case)

With Motley and the Procession I felt like they were too cutesy looking in my first posts about them here and here. So I kind of made them look more like a gastro-siphonophore beast of several different creatures.
