I’ll be busy till this stupid holiday season is over but I needed to jot down Serkan’s new anatomy features

Wanted to draw some Ari after seeing her pop up in my notes again and I realized I haven’t shared anything of her updated backstory either sooo

Ari grew up in the Myce equivalent of a sort of religious gated community/ parish under the Ladder’s Jurisdiction. Her father owned a small cattle ranch and she worked on it with him and her brother. Although she’s gained a lot of skills and strength growing up on the farm, there were a lot of restrictions for her. She was forced to grind down her horns all the time, hiding them within her hair.

The parish she grew up in was a series of small isles, connected by canals. The sea walls prevented anything from getting in or out without close inspection from the Necrocorps sentries stationed around the canal gates. From the top of the revetments, Ari could see the Drifting Lights on the horizon; the floating metropolis of the Ladder and where most of their revenue came from selling fungal fibers and leatherwork.

However, Ari found that one of the barriers around the southern beaches of the ranch was faulty during a storm. With growing unrest from the cattle, something had been let inside.

I really need to design animals for husbandry 😅 need some good ungulates.

Also here’s some of her all snazzed up. I like both versions but I feel like the right one is more her personal style if she was going to a show with Heidi or something. With boots like that though she’d end up being like 6’9” lol

Anyway working with Sylvaine has sort of challenged her a bit but opened a lot of veterinary avenues for her. She finds it disturbing but shows interest in what she calls ‘flesh anatomy’ although it’s intensely messier to her compared to fungal anatomy (imagine a doctor that’s uncomfortable with blood). Sylvaine would argue that they’re virtually the same. She also lets Ari raise some animals and plants on the estate because she still enjoys her farm work. It’s mostly for food supplies, or food for Nimbus. She even continues doing fiber-crafts as a hobby. She’s currently working on giant sweaters for Kraw and Durja.

She also has intense thalassophobia, but Kraw and Heidi working with her on it.

hi mossy i just wanted to let you know that i have post notification turned on for you because im constantly to thrilled to see more of your art and worldbuilding!!! ive been following you since i dnt even know when, but it's been several years (at least 4, i think. if not more) and I'm always delighted to see your work. i also love the way your style has evolved! all of your characters are so beautiful. not even because they're sexy the character designs is just. MWAH.

also do you think we could see more frankie soon 🥺 i miss that dolphin man. i care him very deeply 🥺

And I’m happy to oblige some Frankie 😌 fret not, he’s not in the character bin, he’s just been a little repurposed since I’ve changed some of the story. I’ve since made him a sort of shipyard foreman for Marrowtide. He lets a lot of stuff slide for Kraw, under the table dealings due to personal feelings and all.

Decided to try and get a good picture of the physical painting…couldn’t get rid of the glare and had to crop a lot but I like how it kind of looks more ‘antique’.

I call it ‘Eye of the Storm’ Acrylic, 25 x 36 in.

what art have you made that you think gives the BEST feeling of dread? you know something that really makes you realized you are NOT supposed to be seeing whatever is staring back at you? just curious 😁

Hmm hard to say! I feel like my own art doesn’t spark a lot of dread in me per say (except seeing old art ehehuheuhsh)

It might be eh, but I feel like I at least tried to convey something I’d personally find dread with in this piece?

I even ended up traditionally painting it, (which I guess I could post but I hate trying to get good photos of canvas paintings)

I guess I was trying to recreate how I feel seeing massive things just below the surface of the water. Like it takes a moment for your eyes to focus through the refractions of the surface and then bam you see something watching you from beneath.

Most people don’t actually notice the eye and teeth at first when looking at my physical painting, which surprises me but I like.

I know a lot of people say they get dread or thalassophobia from my art but honestly I’m just trying to make big pretty and at times ferocious sea creatures ;D people that actually find it unsettling are just a plus.

(That’s mainly what people seem to find interesting on my blog so I guess I centered this answer around my sea crits, oops)

Not sure if anyone remembers Nimbus, but I changed him a bit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you know the drill. Been thinkin on him.

He’s a ‘sooty’ variation of a Kymagryph; a bit of a smaller breed from a far more southern region. The former owner of the Asheweaver estate had bought him from poachers as a kit.

Nimbus is the first and only known Kymagryph raised in captivity. There was an attempt to make him accustomed to being ridden or even a glorified messenger pigeon. This was kind of backburnered for a time and since then the former Dr. Asheweaver had met his fate. Sylvaine along with her team have elected to taking care of Nimbus.

Since he’d spent too long poorly raised in captivity Sylvaine found that he couldn’t properly integrate himself into any of the Kymagryph flocks further up north of the island. They were far bigger and the males were particularly aggressive towards Nimbus, hence the nasty scars on his head. He didn’t seem interested in leaving Tattered Wing either though, making his own nest in the fjords, staying close to the estate. He still takes long flights however, retuning after a few months and sometimes bringing ‘gifts’.

He holds some form of deep respect for Sylvaine, which makes her wonder if he has imprinted on her in some way. He minds her above anyone else. Some of the people of Marrowtide like to say that Nimbus is ‘the eyes of the harpy woman that lives on Tattered Wing’, believing that Sylvaine possesses Nimbus’s body on his flights. She finds this amusing if anything.

Drew Sylvaine for size reference. I guess he’d be measure in heads like a horse.

Random but here’s a character design for a Fury named Ferragwyn, one of the empresses of the Welkens. She was formerly betrothed to Sobehk (Kraw’s father)

I just want to draw more pretty Fury folk :> I’m having fun brushin up on wing anatomy too

Okay I know I drew them as teens in this post but then I kind of wanted to revise, especially since I’ve changed Kraw’s hair and such lol.

First pic is baby Titus at about 6-7, second pic is them at around 11 and 9, havin a lunch break.

Last pic Titus is 17 and Kraw is 15, about the time they’d meet Jago.

I’ve been wanting to draw more of Titus and his design needed some work T-T
