Like I Can (Part 1)
Summary: After yet another bad date and tired of swiping on apps, the Dagger Squad steps in to help you out by setting you up on a series of blind dates. Much to Rooster’s dismay.
Warnings: fuff, slight angst. Minors DNI
Length: 3.2K
Pairing: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw X Female Reader
Part 2
(We’re kicking of Valentine’s Day a bit early❣️ Enjoy!)
Tumblr media
“I’m all for growing the sport, but Brady buying an MLP team is ruining the integrity of the league. He may be the GOAT of football, but he has nothing on Ben John’s world-class pickleball game,” your date Max passionately states from his spot across from you at the Italian place he had recommended.
Or was his name Mac?
He’d already told you all about the CRBN paddle drama. At this point, you wouldn’t be surprised if he had already prepared a PowerPoint presentation on the topic complete with transitions and color-coded charts. He seems the type.
And he had yet to ask you a single question about yourself all evening.
You can tell he is gearing up for the next part of his rant, when your phone lights up on the table, the ringer on higher than you realized.
“Oh! I’m sorry, I thought I had this on silent. It’s my mom, I should probably take this,” you apologize to him, your phone already halfway raised to your ear.
“Hey, kid, how’s it going?”
“Hi Mom, I’m with someone right now. Is everything ok?” You let a little worry tinge the tone of your voice.
“Seriously?” Rooster drolly rasps on the other end of the line, “Are we actually doing this?”
“Oh no! Is she alright?” You wouldn’t consider yourself actress, but you think you’re really selling the performance with the way you widen your eyes and how you make your voice go a little tighter and higher.
“Yup, seems like we’re really doing this. What’s it this time, kid? Did grandma slip on a banana peel and then get run over by a reindeer?” You can practically feel his eyes rolling as he begrudgingly goes along with you.
“Oh my goodness, that sounds serious! How would that even happen?” you ask, shaking your head in in faux shock determined to really sell the act.
“Is everything ok?” Max-Mac whispers to you from across the table.
His profile didn’t raise any red flags when you’d swiped on him. If anything, he’d seemed a bit more of the beige flag type. Your chats had been fine, he seemed fine, so why not meet up for a date?
What you didn’t realize until it was too late was that “Sports Enthusiast” actually translated to “Pickleball Fanatic”.
“Hold on, Mom,” you hear Rooster scoff as you pull the phone away from your ear. “I’m so sorry, there’s been a family emergency. It’s my grandmother. I really need to go,” you announce to Mac-Max grabbing your purse from the back of the chair. “Thank you so much for understanding. And good luck at your pickleball tournament!” you call back to him as you hustle towards the front door.
“I take it you’ve made your escape?” You can hear the humor in his voice, your antics are nothing new to him.
“Oh my god, was that seriously only thirty minutes? He wouldn’t stop talking about pickleball, Rooster. Anytime I tried to change the subject, he found a way to circle right back to it!” You tell him as you attempt to dig your keys out from where they were buried in your bag. “And then, he pulled up the leg of his jeans and said, I kid you not: ‘Don’t worry, this isn’t an ankle monitor, I’m just wearing my ankle weights.’ Who does that?”
“Just come to the Hard Deck. You should have canceled like I told you to in the first place. Bob and Coyote got back the other day, so everyone’s here. Well, almost everyone,” he says pointedly. “We’re more fun anyways. And Hangman has been harassing me about you, something about your fluke of a win?”
You’d kicked Jake’s ass the last time you played darts with him. Although in his defense, he had been pretty drunk that night and it was a less than fair game since Phoenix would distract him while Fanboy moved your darts on the board.
You wouldn’t be challenging him to a rematch anytime soon. Not unless the odds were in your favor, it was better to keep him on his toes and his ego in check.
Thankful for the princess parking you managed to snag when you first arrived, you unlock your car and toss your bag into the passenger seat before climbing in. Breathing out a sigh of relief to be done with Mac-Max once inside.
“You back in your car yet?” Rooster asked. He was such a worrier, but you can’t say it bothered you. You liked knowing he cared.
“Yeah, just got in.”
“Ok good, see you in a few. Drive safe, kid.”
Tumblr media
Thirty minutes later Natasha was sliding a cold, frothy pint in front of you with a sympathetic look.
It wasn’t too busy at the Hard Deck yet, but it was still early in the evening. You knew it would pick up soon, and before long Penny would be ringing her bell on some rowdy unsuspecting customer.
“Ankle weights?” She asked, trying and failing to keep from laughing at your expense.
“Seriously, Rooster?” you shoot a glare in his direction, “Where’s the loyalty?”
“What? She was right there when I called you. A request that was your idea, if you remember,” he said as he walked up to you, squeezing your shoulder before sliding his arm around you in greeting. “Plus, it’s not like you don’t already tell Phoenix about all your escapades. You really know how to pick ‘em, kid.”
You’ve known Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw since before you had braces back when you were still wearing your hair in two braids. Your moms had been on the school PTA together at the time and had hit it off immediately.
He hadn’t been too happy about being forced to hang out with the kid who was couple years younger than him, especially one who was so clearly enamored with the cute older boy. While you’d outgrown that phase, for the most part, somethings stuck- like the nickname.
And over the years you’d formed your own bond outside of the forced proximity of your mothers’ friendship.
He’d taught you how to throw a punch, the different ways to pitch a baseball, and to drive a stick shift. You’d taught him how to whistle with his fingers, to play Nerts, and to tie a tie (after asking your dad to teach you).
The give and take was easy with him, you both showed up for the other.
You were there the night he drunkenly fell through the glass patio door at Jason Cameron’s homecoming party. As one of the only sober people there since he wouldn’t let you drink, or let anyone else give you alcohol for that matter, you were the one to take him to the ER. “Don’t worry, kid,” he had slurred, pressing the Washington High t-shirt that you’d found in your trunk to his face to stop the bleeding, “Looks s’worse than it feels.” And you were the one to stay with him as he was stitched up. The evidence of that night still unmistakable on his face.
He was there for you when your parents had sat you down and told you they were getting a divorce. A hurricane of angst and grief, you hadn’t left your room for anything other than school for over a week when he’d let himself in your room one afternoon. Rubbing small circles on your back as he’d let you cry for a bit, he didn’t even tease you about the stains you’d left behind on his shirt. And then he’d herded you into his crappy car and drove you to the slightly sketchy amusement park an hour away with the Tilt-A-Whirl and the giant corndogs. And when he’d told you “It’s going to be ok, kid” on the ride back home, you believed him.
You had been there for him when his mom passed, and all during that dark period after when he was set on self-destruction after his fallout with Maverick. While he had tried to push everyone away, you were always the type to hold on tightly to the people that mattered.
And then life had sent you on different directions. First when he went to college and then when you did. Next for him the Navy, and then you with your own career, both of you always in motion. You two shared a connection the way people with a long history do, the kind where you could go months without talking but knowing the other person is always right there if you need them. Your camaraderie sustained by texts, email, and the occasional FaceTime.
A long-distance friendship for over a decade.
So when your boss had approached you about a promotion that was dependent on you relocating to the West Coast, you thanked whatever kismet in the universe had you packing for San Diego where he was permanently stationed.
The break up with your boyfriend at the time was entirely too amicable considering how long you had been together. He was nice, the sex was nice, your life together was nice. You had all but signed the paperwork for your promotion when you told him, but he didn’t see himself as a west-coaster and you couldn’t envision yourself as anything but. Whether you had stayed together all that time out of convenience or complacency, you still couldn’t say.
It was easy to fall back into the comfort of your friendship with Rooster. Although the lanky teen you had known was replaced with a mustache sporting well-built man courtesy of the Navy. One that had left you feeling confusingly flustered on more than one occasion, and forced to cycle through your mental highlight reel of embarrassing teen Rooster moments to keep from your mind from wandering.
He’d helped you find your apartment, taught you about avoiding the 15 Northbound, and showed you where the best place in town to get tacos was. The transition was made easy with him by your side as he introduced you to his team members who quickly folded you into their group as one of their own.
That was a little over a year ago. You liked this new life of yours in San Diego.
And while the dating pool of men you could swipe through was much larger, well, some things never changed.
“You don’t get it, Rooster. You’re surrounded by absurdly hot Naval eye candy all day,” you complained gesturing to Natasha, she raised her beer to you as thanks in response. “While you’re getting women throwing themselves at you because of the gold wings, I’m fighting for my life on these stupid apps where all the men on there are posing with fish. It’s brutal!”
You’d need to officially call things off with Max-Mac later, thinking to yourself how glad you were that you never gave him your real number, and instead signing up for a Google voice number. You were just not cut out for the competitive pickleball lifestyle.
“Bradshaw, why don’t you set her up? It’s not like we don’t know enough people who would be better options than these fish men, Natasha asked, like it was the most logical thing in the world, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Yeah, Bradshaw. Tell Nat your super logical reasons for leaving your longtime friend to fend for herself.” You knew where this was heading, so you took a long swig of the beer Phoenix had brought you.
“Seriously, not this again.” His arm that was around you was removed in favor for pinching the bridge of his nose and looking up to the ceiling like it would spare him from the conversation.
“You started it, now tell her.”
“I need another damn drink if we’re going to do this,” Rooster mumbled.
“Me too,” chimed Natasha, clearly reveling in his misery.
“Make that three. I need to catch up.” You hadn’t even stuck around long enough to get a drink at the restaurant, and now you were ready to let loose a bit.
He grunts out some unintelligible thing and then stalks off to the bar shaking his head.
“I’m an upstanding citizen, I pay my taxes, I make a mean peanut butter brownie, and I always drive him around when the Bronco is in the shop for a tune up. It’s literally the least he could do,” you say to Phoenix as you watch him chat with Penny as she works to grab the fresh bottles.
“Oh, so this is thing,” Natasha says decidedly when she eyes the six beers he’s carrying back to the table, three bottles held by the neck in each of his large hands. His classic Hawaiian shirt fluttering with every step, your eyes briefly drifting down to his defined waist.
“Sure is,” you confirm, drawing out the word. Downing the rest of the beer from your pint glass before reaching for one of the new bottles Rooster was divvying out amongst your trio, “I’ve never asked him for anything-”
“That is a boldfaced lie. And you know it,” he cuts in, as he hands you a granola bar from his pocket, that he must have snagged from Penny. “You definitely asked me to set you up with Kyle Cooke from my baseball team in high school. I didn’t do it then, and I’m not doing it now,” he declared, pointing at you with an accusatory finger to further drive the statement home.
“Reasons being?” Natasha wheedled, a mischievous smirk on her face. You could tell she was eating this up, there were two things Natasha Trace loved most in this world: juicy gossip and giving Rooster a hard time.
Ever the showman, he dramatically lifts up a finger, “First of all, everyone I know is an asshole.”
“I am offended on Bob’s behalf,” you countered, unwrapping the bar and taking a bite, annoyed. Hangman might fit the description, but certainly not Bob.
“Two,” he continues on, raising a second finger, and ignoring you completely as if you hadn’t just made a very valid point, “Let’s say I set you with a friend and then you end up hating them. Then you’ll judge me for being friends with them, we’ll argue, and eventually we won’t be friends anymore. Or even worse, I set you up with someone, you hit it off and date for a while. What happens when you break up? I’m left having to pick sides and walk on eggshells around you guys about the other person.”
“God, you’re such a overthinker. That all sounds totally rational, you drama queen,” you look to Phoenix for agreement, but she’s busy typing out a text message on her phone.
“And three, it’s messy as fuck. And I don’t need to hear about your trophy of a one-night stand.”
Now it’s your turn to roll your eyes, “That was one time! It wasn’t a trophy it was a gold medal.”
“Wait, what?” Confusion coloring Natasha’s features.
“One time this guy gave me one of those plastic gold medal things on a lanyard, kind of like the ones they give out at kids soccer games, after we hooked up. I mean, kicked him out right away, but I did keep the medal. It was a good confidence boost,” you shrug.  It wasn’t exactly a high point moment for you.
After that encounter you’d definitely started scrutinizing every profile a bit harder before swiping right, or at least you thought you had been. In your defense, at least Max-Mac’s profile didn’t have a fish photo, but the bar was still clearly on the ground.
“I knew you when you wore those shirts with that big mouthed monkey on them. And that’s the kind of shit I don’t need to know about. I don’t wanna be involved. Not gonna happen, kid,” his declaration resolute.
“Well, that sure is something, Bradshaw,” Natasha states, giving him a curious look.
“What are y’all over here discussing so intently,” Hangman questions as he saddles up to your little group, tucking his phone into his pocket.
“We were just getting into the finer details of the kid’s dating life and how I am going to fix it by setting her up with this great guy I know,” she pronounces, looking all too pleased with herself. A truly self-satisfied grin gracing her face.
Natasha Trace was probably the most bad ass person you’ve ever met, so the idea of her setting you up with someone had you sitting up straighter on the stool you were seated on, “Really?”
“Who?” Rooster demands, frowning at her.
“Yeah, I mean Bradshaw clearly has his convictions, and I respect that. However, I’m an excellent wing-woman. Seriously, I don’t know why I haven’t thought about introducing you guys before. You two would be perfect together.”
Hangman never one to miss an opportunity to rile up Rooster is quick to jump in, “Just because you fly in a two-seater doesn’t make you a good wing-woman, Phoenix. However, now that you mention it, I have a buddy who might knock your socks off. Unless you’d rather just knock boots, I’m sure he’d be up for whatever you wanted,” he shooting you a wink. “I think I’ll toss my name in the ring here too. After all, I’m very good.”
“You want to make it a bet, Bagman?” Her accent always got a little more pronounced when she went toe to toe with him.
“What’re you thinkin’, Darlin’?” he drawls suggestively with a sharp smile. That ever-present toothpick being rolled in his mouth from side to side.
“You guys are not going to be making bets around the kid’s love life,” Rooster snaps.
“The big dogs are talking, Bradshaw,” Hangman taunts as he waves him off.
“$50 entry? The dates happen here and at the end the kid picks which date was the best. Winner takes all?” You can see the competitive gleam in her eye.
“Alright, alright. Works for me, Phoenix. I can’t wait to take your money.”
“The hell you are,” Rooster barks, still trying to regain control of the quickly spiraling situation.
Well, this had certainly taken a turn.
You find yourself reaching for your third beer of the night.
And you’re even more surprised when Hangman hollers for the rest of the team to join, and before you know it your dating life takes centerstage as the subject of the bet between the group of competitive naval aviators. Many of the others deciding to join in, never ones to shy away from a bit of rivalry.
“What do you say? You up for it?” Natasha asks, wanting to make sure you were still on board now that her original offer had taken on a life of its own.
You look over and see Rooster looking at you like you’d be crazy to get involved in their kind of chaos. You know he can already tell what your answer will be.
“Why not?” you agree cheerily as he groans into his beer.
At least you would be spared from swiping for a while. It’s what you deserve, you are an upstanding citizen after all.

He Comforts You - Shu 💜

Snippets of time showing how you and your partner care for each other.
─── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───
From the second you’d woken up, it had become pretty obvious that it was going to be a low-energy day. Thankfully, no plans had been made for today and you could try to rest as much as possible. How this had all led you to stand in your kitchen looking down at the counter, you had no clue. However, trying to remember why the hell you’d come in here… your mind had totally blanked, thoughts clouded with static. Giving up on trying to remember, you decided to make your way back to the bedroom.
However, as you get closer to the bedroom, you can hear your boyfriend talking. Now standing outside of it, you try to recall if he had a stream to do today, but come up blank. Trying to be as quiet as possible, you push the door open and peek inside.
Almost immediately, Shu catches the movement out of the corner of his eye. “Oh hey, babe.” Turning his head towards you, he smiles and gestures for you to enter the room. “Not streaming, if you’re worried about that. We’re just playing for fun.” Amethyst eyes flicker back to the screen and a bashful giggle falls from his lips. “They all say hi.”
You can’t help the smile that tugs at your lips and you give a small wave before realizing they can’t see you. This causes Shu to laugh harder as you immediately hide your face in your hands. As the sorcerer explains what happened, you shuffle closer to him. Once you reach his side, you give his hoodie a light tug. His eyes meet yours and it’s then that he seems to realize what’s happening. With quick movements, he excuses himself for a second before muting his mic and giving you his full attention. “Blue day?” He asks, tone gentle. When you nod, he continues, “What can I do to help?”
“Can I–” you hesitate, worried that this might be too inconvenient for him, your gaze falling to the floor. A hand wrapping around yours breaks your line of thought as he gives your hand a gentle squeeze. “Um, can I sit in your lap while you play? I think your body heat would really help me right now.”
With zero hesitation, Shu moves his mic out of the way before completely turning his chair around so you have enough space to climb into his lap. And you waste no time doing so. Once you are settled, face buried against his shoulder, he shifts back around to face his computer. He pulls his mic just close enough to pick up his voice and unmutes.
As he continued to play more rounds with his friends, whenever he died or they waited for a new round to start, one of his hands always found its way back to drawing soothing circles along your back or stroking over the back of your head.
Eventually, you feel yourself drift off, and in your last conscious moment, you feel his lips press against the crown of your head. Their softness blessing you with sweet dreams.

desperation
where rook hunt is desperate for your touch
~rook hunt x gender neutral reader~ warnings: intimate cuddling (sfw), translated french because i do not speak the language🕺
Tumblr media
Desperation in Rook Hunt looks like lipstick stains, endless caresses, and incoherent words of romance whispered from his moving lips. He runs on adrenaline. Adrenaline that wishes to keep you embraced in his arms all throughout the night.
Desperation in Rook Hunt is passionate, frantic yet gentle, and almost in an ardent haze. There’s nothing left in his mind except you, and you alone. He only wishes to show you the wholeheartedness of his emotions as he feels the warmth of his body embracing yours, hands circling around your waist as his head makes it onto your shoulder, keeping you there as if you’d fade from existence if he’d ever let go.
Your hands ever so softly run through his hair as the hat he once wore falls to the ground, forgotten by both its owner and you. A sigh escapes his mouth. A sigh that says your touch eases him. A sigh that asks you to keep going. A sigh that says “i love you, please never let go.”
His lips make it to yours, almost eager, as your hands remain entangled in his hair, eyes closed and hearts racing. Heat radiates off of Rook’s cheeks, face ablaze and flushed at your touch as he holds your chin in the palm of his hand, lips placing gentle kisses on every inch of your now scarlet face. His movement is constant and neverending. Emotional and never fleeting. He remains close to you like a dream that’s just come true. A wish that the stars had just granted.
Each peck on your face comes with a mumbling of phrases you may or may not understand. Rook knows this, yet that does not stop him from using them. He only wants to let all of the words he’d been longing to say out of his mouth, lest he missed his chance. You listen, eyes still shut as you feel his whispers tickling the side of your cheek, ears, and neck, while Rook continues to confess all of the things he adored about you.
Kiss.
“Je t’aime beaucoup…”
Another kiss.
“J’ai soif de toi…”
And another.
“Tu es ma passion…”
And another.
“Je suis fou de toi…”
And another.
“J’ai besoin de toi…”
He continues on until even words fail to explain just how much he truly loves you. The sun begins to set, the stars peek out from their spots in the sky, and you and Rook continue, limbs now tangled around one another as you fall asleep within the warmth of Rook’s arms. Your head buried in his chest, Rook’s heart relaxes as he places an innocent kiss to your forehead, wishing you a good night’s rest. The peaceful sounds of your breathing is enough to put his mind at ease. Your love is real and so is his.
Desperation in Rook Hunt is waking up at the crack of dawn the following day and immediately reaching his arm over to the side, hands drifting towards where yours should have been. It’s feeling the emptiness in the covers of his bed, the sudden coldness of his room, and the loneliness his heart knows all too well at the realization that it was all a simple dream. A trick of his mind to remind him that in reality, your touches were unattainable and long gone.
You were a ghost and your love was merely fragments of the memories Rook had held dear to him, and him alone. He yearned for you. He longed for your return. He was desperate for you.
The torture it was to never hear your voice, the agony he felt after every false dream, the complete and utter hopelessness he had, only wishing to feel your lips on his one final time. The pain he felt for you was one created in beauty—the beauty of longing for someone you once held close in your arms. Desperation. Despair.
But to be in despair was to love, and to love was to remember you.
“Mon trésor… je t'aime tellement que ça fait mal…”
It was just a shame that for Rook to remember you…
...Was misery.

GALLIFREYAN IS THEIR LOVE LANGUAGE
Gallifreyan, the last language of the Time Lords, able to burn stars and rise up empires and topple gods. But it was never just that. It's the first language he ever spoke, the language of his childhood, the language he taught his children and granddaughter. It's the language that brings him home. But his home is long gone and when Gallifrey fell, the language was lost with it.
What had meant family became the reminder of his loneliness. But he never stopped using it. He used it as a reminder of what he had lost, as a reminder not to let anyone else have to make the decision he made that day.
Gallifreyan means so much to the Doctor... And all the companions have sensed that at some point.
Rose used to stare at Nine writing on sticky notes, delicate tracings of all she didn't know about him, perfect circles and lines that fascinated her. She never dared to ask, though. When Jack joined them, not knowing the Doctor was the last of his kind, he had no problem doing it.
"What are you writing?" He asked peering over his shoulder. "Oh, Doctor, do you have a secret code you use to look enigmatic?" Smiling as he said it. "Is it even a real language or are you just using it to impress us?" It had just been their normal banter, he hadn't meant to hurt him.
The Doctor had turned serious for a moment, trying to make clear that Gallifreyan wasn't banter material-
"It's the language of my people." He answered simply. "Now," he added, a smile on his face and changing his tone completely while pressing buttons in the TARDIS controls, "who wants to go to the beach?"
Jack was confused, wanting to ask, but Rose took his arm, signaling for him to let it go.
"You're finally taking me somewhere I can get a proper tan." Rose said smiling to the Doctor, letting go of Jack's arm.
Jack understood Rose and went back to his normal harmless quips.
"Only if he's able to land the TARDIS in a real beach without an emergency crisis going on this time."
The Doctor had seen the interaction between Jack and Rose and he silently thanked her for it. He decided at that moment that if Rose ever asked, he would answer. The image of him teaching her how to read Gallifreyan even crossed his mind for a brief second.
"Oh, Jack, I'm going to land this TARDIS in the most beautiful beach you've ever seen.
And he did.
They never talked again about Gallifreyan with the Doctor, but the beauty of the circles always Intrigued them. They used to joke about what they thought was written on the sticky notes when Doctor wasn't there and that led to them trying to figure out how to read it, which circles where words and which ones where letters, failing every time to decipher it.
Rose understood it when she was Bad Wolf but it all faded away too quickly for her to remember it afterwards. Then, Jack was left behind and Rose stopped trying to figure it out. Ten would have taught her, but she never asked. Tentoo taught her without her needing to say anything.
Jack never stopped trying to understand it. Using the Torchwood files they had about Gallifreyan just like Martha used UNIT's. Working together and knowing what some of the messages said they made some progress at recognizing patterns but not enough to translate other messages.
Donna didn't give Gallifreyan a long thought while she was travelling with the Doctor. Just a Martian language. Sometimes Wilfred finds her doodling perfectly organized circles and lines when she is distracted. He hates not being able to tell her about the Doctor when she gets angry at herself after realizing she is doodling nonsense again.
When Ten met River she told him his name in perfect Gallifreyan. He thought he should have had to really love and trust her not only to tell her his name but to teach her Gallifreyan to the point of speaking it daily, judging by the accent. What he didn't know was that River had born with the ability to talk Gallifreyan, she was, after all, the daughter of the TARDIS.
Jack and River came across each other a couple of times, forming a close friendship over the years. Their love for the Doctor made them create a special bond. At that point Jack had lost all hope in learning Gallifreyan; his adventures with the Doctor had happened centuries ago and understanding sticky notes around the TARDIS had no sense anymore. He had given up the thought of travelling with him again. When River offered to teach him anyway his face lit up with a smile.
Eleven hid his past inside himself, so when the TARDIS redecorated he made sure not to have Gallifreyan anywhere visible. Amy learnt about it when River used it to contact the Doctor but she was more interested in the adventure so she never thought to ask. That's what Eleven loved about her. (Because Army didn't ask, neither did Rory.)
When they got trapped by the angels in Manhattan, Amy's way to cope with loosing the Doctor was listening to the stories her daughter told her. She started to get interested in the little things she hadn't been able to appreciate with the adrenaline of the moment, trying to hold on to anything that reminded her of that moment of her life. When River understood it, she taught Amy to read and write Gallifreyan. Soon, the Pond's house started filling with messages: reminders and recipes written in a language only Amy, Rory and their two children could understand and a letter from Amy for only her Raggedy Man to read once he was ready.
When Eleven met Clara he fell for her, every time. He redecorated the TARDIS for her to ask about Gallifreyan, ready to share that part of his life with her. Clara was like Amy, though, always invested in the adventure, slowly falling for the Doctor. But when he changed, she changed too. Twelve eventually accepted Clara was never going to ask, so he started to write in English in the blackboards of the TARDIS for her to understand what he wrote but still leaving the Gallifreyan in the console's decoration. He adapted to her but he quietly hopped she would do the same one day.
Clara was forced to learn Gallifreyan in order to fly the TARDIS. Me taught her. She had learnt it many years before from her old friend, the Face of Boe.
The first time River spoke Gallifreyan in front of the Doctor was during their night in Darillium. She called him anidiot. She had gotten used to insulting people in Gallifreyan and switching languages was an instinct. River saw the Doctor cry for the first time that day. She hugged him in the floor while the Doctor told her about his kids and his marvelous granddaughter, all in the language of his people. At that moment she had thought that she had reminded him of everyone he had lost when she spoke Gallifreyan. Now, however, she understands the Doctor was thinking about how he was going to lose the only person he had left with whom he could speak it.
When the Doctor let Missy into the TARDIS with Bill, she made a comment about him having the names of his companions as decoration in the console. It took the Doctor a second to realize that Missy understood Gallifreyan, he had been guarding the vault for years and he had never spoken to Missy in their native language.
"We don't speak Gallifreyan." The Doctor mentioned once they were alone in the vault.
"Always so observant, Doctor" Missy rolled her eyes.
The only time he spoke Gallifreyan with Missy was when he was trying to convince her and the Master to stay and fight with him against the cybermen. The next time they saw each other, O spoke in Gallifreyan ("I did say the spy... master."), Thirteen didn't give him the privilege of answering in Gallifreyan.
In the year 2023 a giant graffiti of circles appears in London. It says "You are not alone". Yaz wrote it. She doesn't know Gallifreyan but she asked Jack to translate that sentence after one of her Companions Meetings.
The Doctor knows about the graffiti but she doesn't know who wrote it. She doesn't know that almost all her companions know Gallifreyan. She thinks it's something from her future, not realizing she has already Inspired so many people, not realizing that her companions can sense how much Gallifreyan means to her. Not realizing that Gallifreyan is their love language.

⸢And everyone lived happily ever after.⸥ I always hated that phrase. However, the current me dearly wished for that phrase to become true. [Constellation, 'Demon King of Salvation' has reached his ■■.] [You have become the 'Oldest Dream'.] The disappearing lights in the distance resembled the Constellations that still remembered me. And with that, my endless voyage got underway. [Your ■■ is 'Eternity'.]
Tumblr media
I was this close to making a reaction post about the supposed "miracle" that happened and why the worldline wasn't collapsing despite Oldest Dream no longer dreaming.
I mean, I was certain it was because Dokja was maintaining the dream and maybe he himself hadn't realized it yet, what with him literally being Oldest Dream. Guess he had one final trick up his sleeve.
I will say that I'm super amused that my theory of him being an avatar and not knowing it was apparently 100% correct but in a manner I completely did not expect. If I have to pick, I wanna say that the moment he chose to break himself apart was right here:
That left only three people behind. "Kim Dokja." It was unknown who among Han Sooyoung and Yoo Joonghyuk called that name out first. The former asked with a questioning pair of eyes. "We are getting off together, right?" [Someone has activated 'Lie Detection Lv… '] That prompted Kim Dokja to smirk softly. "Of course. We should." ['Lie Detection' has confirmed 'Kim Dokja's' words as truth.] "Let's go."
Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. Dokja scheming until the very last second. Sacrificing himself for his companions One. Last. Time.
Though not as much of a sacrifice as before; he'll still get to "read" about them just like he loves and technically he will also get to live with everybody in a big house just like he wanted. So while part of me is clenching my heart, it's overall a happy ending.
And I looooove that we've circled back to Dokja's ■■ and why it has both the meaning of Eternity and Final Chapter.
I'll admit that I'm still a little fuzzy on what exactly happened with Secretive Plotter, the 999ths and Oldest Dream. I guess they reached the epilogue of their stories and this is the epilogue of Dokja's story? So now they're off in an entirely different worldline once again?
And it seems we have 34 chapters of epilogues to go through now! As well as ongoing side stories! The latter of which I still need to figure out if anyone is currently translating into English.
I'll admit when I heard that ORV had ongoing side stories I wasn't certain what exactly they'd be about but it appears we've still got a lot to wrap up even after the happy ending and you can't tell me that at least in one future side story (or maybe one of these epilogues) Dokja doesn't meet himself again or at least realize that he's missing half his memories.
...Or perhaps his companions will realize something fishy is going on, what with living right beside him and Dokja not remembering a whole 50% of his life. Hmmm.
A tale of this new world continued to flow on. But then, just as the subway's doors closed, Han Sooyoung looked behind her with a slightly unsure, hard-to-read face of someone that left something behind. Even Yoo Joonghyuk looked back, too. The only person who didn't was Kim Dokja. Han Sooyoung and Yoo Joonghyuk's gazes ran into each other, and they began growling at the same time. "What you looking at?!" "I should ask you that, you basta…"
Well, if nothing else, I do dearly wish to see more of these three idiots together. I love that both of them refused to get off the train until they were certain Dokja was coming with them and they both seemed to sense that they'd just lost something.
And I do wonder how exactly the world is going to go on after all of this mess and if they really will try to take Joonghyuk's sword from him. (Not a good idea.)
I mean, they seem to still have all of their abilities and stats? I think? So they're just supposed to live in normal, modern day Korea as if nothing happened while having superpowers??? And I assume most of the world's population is gone unless that was miraculously rewritten.
Or...???
Guess I'll find out.

Hi! May I ask which are some good super starter or basic grimoires? I tried Agrippa and just...it didn't go in...i have the Picatrix but I honestly think I'll just get the same result, it's way above my head. Is there anything simple i might "get" or should I honestly just accept it's not for me and move on? Thank you!
Hey, so I have this post right here that goes over why no grimoire that's worth learning from with the intent to practice it through is going to be classified as beginner/starter/etc. So I'm not going to rehash that part.
As for "getting" Agrippa, I think it's important to remember that it's an encyclopedia. As such, when you're beginning to explore grimoires, it's best to use it as a reference book. Can you use Agrippa as the foundation of your own practice? Yes, but unless you're already familiar with occult concepts and topics, it might require far more than one or two surface readings to fully digest what it's talking about.
So since it sounds like you're newer to grimtrad circles, I have a few books that I think might help build that foundation without all the dense walls of text and jargon to read through (though please bear in mind that I struggle to remember what is/not common knowledge even in mundane matters, so if some of these are a bit trickier to navigate, feel free to blame it on my incompetence):
A Deed Without A Name by Lee Morgan (staple)
Conjuring Spirits by Miller (Miller's work is v good)
The Black Arts by Richard Cavendish (read critically, don't accept everything blindly)
The Hermetic & Alchemical Writings of Paracelsus - Waite & Paracelsus (denser)
Magic, Witchcraft, and Ghosts in Greek and Roman Worlds
Elucidation of Necromancy
Celestial Intelligences by Kaminsky (denser)
Wortkunning
Some books that I worked with or through that seem easy enough to bring to real life application, with the right dedication and mindset:
The 6th & 7th Books of Moses
The Sworn Book of Honorius
The Book of Oberon
Seven Spheres & Gateways: Through Stone and Circle (1 book) & Through Light and Shadow (different book) - best combo, anyone can practice these really
Keys of Solomon & Grimorium Verum & Secrets of Solomon - solid combo
The Goetia of Dr. Rudd (a particular fave)
The Complete Mystical Records of Dr. John Dee (learn a bit of Latin first or have a solid translator on deck)
Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) & Greek and Egyptian Magical Formularies & Techniques of Greco-Egyptian Magic - best combo, imo
Orphic Hymns Grimoire & The Hekatæon & Tartaros - another good combo
The 32 Keys
Azoëtia & The Black Dragon series
Book of St. Cyprian
I think it's worth mentioning that reading more is a great way to broaden your awareness of occult concepts and topics. If you look at how things are considered across different dedicated areas of study, then you're more likely to understand the foundations of said thing. One perspective is very limiting. It's better to seek out multiple. By reading from the first list, which should give a pretty solid introductory to broad concepts, and then sifting through the grimoires mentioned, you should be able - through applying yourself properly to the task - gain an understanding of how these things may function/interact in a living tradition, and then through applying them yourself gain the practical knowledge of how they actually are.
And as a closing note: I would personally recommend leaving behind the idea that you're supposed to "get" occult books. You study from them, you learn what you can from them, and through implementing what they speak of and experimenting with what interests you, you acquire that knowledge plus your own discovered knowledge and heightened awareness. In this way, you'll come to realize why I refer to my engagement with the occult as a study and practice.
Of course, if none of this was helpful, you can feel free to disregard my input here as the ramblings of a twenty-something nobody. Have a good one!

ꜰʟᴏʀᴇꜱ [ꜱᴇʀɢɪᴏ ʀᴀᴍᴏꜱ] Chapter 1
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: this is purely fiction and there are things that will be inaccurate to real life. This is all for fun! I do not speak Spanish so please excuse any mistranslations, I literally just used Google translate haha. Thanks for reading!
2009
There are two things in this world that everyone can agree to hate mutually. The first being twenty three year old Sergio Ramos; the long haired defense player with a loud mouth and short temper seems to rile everyones feathers. Perhaps one of the worst things about him is his immense talent, meaning everyone will just have to put up with him because he knows with his skill, he is not going anywhere.
The second thing this world hates is nepotism, and who wouldn't? Nobody likes the lazy bosses son walking around the office being the nuisance that you can't say anything to just because he hit the family lottery. Nepotism is a direct reminder that life is unfair and favors some more than others.
Catalina Flores didn't feel life favored her most of the time. There was never anything special about her, no dazzling beauty that would get her anything she wanted; nor spectucular social skills that would let her build the friendships she always wanted. All she had ever been seen as was invisible. Catalina's life had been a lonely one and that was no secret to anyone around her.
Perhaps that's why her father's sister, Maria took pity on her and offered her a job with the team her husband coaches. A photographer for Real Madrid.
There was a couple of things that made Catalina hesitant to accept the kind gesture.
Number one, too big of a stage at only twenty years old. Photography is something Catalina has and always taken seriously, but to go from doing what she has been compared to one of the biggest football teams in the world is a lot of pressure, rightfully so. Maria assured her that there would be other photographers there and that all the weight didn't land on her shoulders souly.
Number two, was Catalina even good enough? There is many photos she's proud of, but like anyone around her age she makes mistakes. When she was sixteen she shot her brothers birthday party completely out of focus and the ones there were in focus were totally unflattering. That's something that always creeps back into her brain as she's trying to fall asleep at night. So embarrassing. Her aunt shushes those thoughts as she reminders Catalina of the photography contests she has won in recent years.
Truthfully, she felt a bit guilty taking the offer but to say no is something she feared would regret. Although football is not something she had ever necessarily cared about, it was a huge opportunity. It's not something she felt truly unqualified for. Why not just see how it goes?
On Catalina's first day it was luckily a bit easier. They were only training, and truthfully only needed shots for their new star player, Cristiano Ronaldo. who brought a lot of good press for the team.
Dark purple circles lay under Catalina's eyes as proof of the sleepless night she had prior, tossing and turning with anxiety of the day to come. The black camera bag strapped around her body felt heavier than usual, blocking the badge her uncle gave as permession to be there.
The training grounds felt massive and unfamiliar, she couldn't imagine what it felt like to be inside the actual stadium. There was a sweet older lady who showed Catalina the way outside where the players had yet to assemble onto the pitch.
That is when Catalina took the time to prepare her camera, adjusting it to the settings she deemed best as not to repeat her brothers birthday incident all those years ago. One by one each player shuffled out onto the field in their training clothes, all smiles as the sun beamed against their skin.
It was only then Catalina realized how unprepared she was.  I really should have googled their names before this. She made a mental note to study their faces and names tonight. The only one she could point out was Cristiano, who she knew was a big deal for the club.
Anytime she could catch the Portuguese star flashing his bright teeth or with the lighting just right she made sure to snap an extra picture. There seemed to be one player being rougher than the rest, slapping the back of his teammates heads, or outright tackling them to the floor with a wide smile plastered on his face.
"Get off of me Sergio! What have you been eating, gordito?" One with large curly hair laughed, slapping at the long haired one's sides.
Sergio. Sergio. Sergio  Catalina repeatedhis name over and over in her head as to not forget it as she captured the duos tussle back and forth on the grass.
It ended with another one coming in plopping on the both of them, causing both of the players to groan in pain. That's when the coach came in and told them finish the task at hand, and they followed orders accordingly but Catalina didn't miss Sergio getting one last smack on the back of the brunettes neck.
Apparently, Cristiano didn't miss it either as he busted out laughing before quickly putting a hand over his mouth to restrain himself.
 Click click click
The team seemed to know when to calm down as for the rest of practice they took their jobs seriously without it being a drag. Of course they still had fun, but not too distractingly.
One with a buzzcut stopped to smile and wave at her very briefly in the middle of running up and down the field. Catalina's lips upturned as she waved at him back with her free hand, the other gripping the large camera for dear life.
Click click click
Catalina felt she got pretty good shots of them all, a small weight lifted off of her shoulders. Maybe it wasn't as big of a disaster as she thought.
The sun was setting so she knew it was almost time to go. The last thing they were doing was shooting balls across to each other in random pairs. As Catalina went to adjust her settings to accommodate the now deep orange sun, there was suddenly loud shouting all at once "cuidado!"
Before she could even process what they were saying, a large round object bounced off of her forehead; the force of it sending her backwards onto the soft grass. Instinctively she held her arm up to make sure her camera didn't fall as hard as she did.
Many players rushed to the side where Catalina layed on the ground, looking up at the white clouds above. "Are you okay? I'm so sorry! " Number 3 gasped as he leaned over her, blocking her view of the sky.
Soon, each cloud got blocked by a member of the team's head, faces filled with worry as they looked down to the girl below them. All she could feel was the throbbing of her eye and scalp. "Pepe hijo de puta!" The buzzcut one exclaimed as he hit number 3's shoulder from beside him.
In the dead center of Catalina's vision she seen Sergio with the faintest smirk on his face. It felt like for a split second, time froze and all she could feel was this man laughing at her. Suddenly reality came crashing back to Catalina and she sat up abruptly, almost headbutting Sergio in the process. "I'm fine, it's no worries. You have really great aim, this is good for the team right?" Catalina tried to laugh it off, although her tone was unconvincing.
The curly haired one ruffled her dark locks in a way that commended her for being a good sport. Catalina could feel her face was heating up from not only the pain, but the huge feeling of  embarrassment creeping into her chest. Slowly they backed off, but Pepe stayed and apologized profusely.
Catalina waved it off with a smile and assured him that she truly was okay. In the background she could hear number 11 running to get something that she would quickly find out is an ice pack.
As she pressed the cool fabric to her eye all she could think about was Sergio's face staring back down at her.

Hello, this is H.C. from Leaked Experience again ^^ I realized I never gave a proper explanation as to what happened with the Saint Tail analyses on our site and what the retranslation project had to do with them. (I'm not sure if that many people read them in the first place, but we do occasionally get notifications and questions about them, and it's something I feel like I should take responsibility for one way or another...)
The short answer is that they're still under revision, and I've been slowly churning at them! It's just that D.A. and I have been really busy during these last few months, but I'm hoping things will quiet down soon so I can get some quality time to write 😅 While we did have connections to the retranslation project, it was fundamentally a separate project that was done with much more thorough and proper judgment than my informal analysis, so I wanted to bring it closer to their work.
For the longer, more detailed answer, I'll need to explain a bit more about the timeline of events. I discovered the problem with Saint Tail's translation around exactly a year ago in March and started writing on the site in response (D.A. and I had always been talking about making a proper site for our operations, so it felt like a good opportunity). After the Discotek release of the anime came out shortly after and turned out to still have the same problems, the idea of a retranslation project started entering discussion within our friend/acquaintance circle, and the project formally took off in around July.
Since we at Leaked Experience had done a lot of research work and taken notes on where to find wording parallels, what to look out for in translation, etc., these resources were passed onto the translation group to cut down on some of the work, but since the "translations" done for my analysis were very hasty, informally-done ones, the translation team had a policy that if there was a discrepancy between their translation/interpretation and ours, theirs would take priority. The team's QCers were also picked from people who'd never had exposure to the series before, so they were able to evaluate everything with a fresh mindset, and the retranslation was done carefully line-by-line while taking everyone's insights into account.
So if you're worried that I'd forced my personal theories into the retranslation or anything, please be assured that this isn't the case, and that it's actually closer to the other way around! This blog post about the retranslation mentions a certain person who'd gotten the wrong impression about the anime because she'd still fallen victim to some biases caused by the old translation, and, uh... that's me, I'm the idiot in question 😅 Despite having written those articles to combat misconceptions caused by the old translation, even I hadn't been completely immune to its influence, and a lot of my analysis had some really bad takes.
Let alone the fact that I didn't even agree with my own takes anymore, I was also worried that leaving them up as-is would reflect badly on the retranslation due to Leaked Experience's affiliation with them. So that's why I took the analyses down, and I refused to start working on new versions until the retranslation was completely done. Unfortunately, it's been taking a while because I've been juggling it with some other work (we've been working on scanning some out-of-print releases of older magical girl manga for preservation), but it's something I really do want to get done, especially since I feel like I need to make up for what I'd said earlier about the anime. I had so many bad takes about the anime that were actually caused by the old translation, and I feel like such an idiot for saying things like that so emphatically ><;;

I just wanna point out that this place I circled here on the Earthbread map is apparently called the “Little Witch’s House” according to someone’s translation, and I swear this place better be plot relevant at some point
Like, what does it mean? Does “Little Witch” refer to perhaps a young witch who’s a child and perhaps is living on Earthbread? (What Earthbread is in the context of this world I don’t think is ever properly explained so this could be a possibility) Is this a Cookie who has the powers of a witch, such as perhaps Matcha Cookie? Or is this just like, an actual witch who just happens to be small?
Assuming this is an actual witch, what could this mean for the plot, should it ever be relevant? This witch must know the meaning of Cookies and their existence, so could it have something to do with that? Could this be somewhere the group goes after everyone learns the truth about why Cookies are made and see it as irrefutable truth? Perhaps this is somewhere where we learn not all witches are evil, considering this one lives on Earthbread? Could this be somewhere that makes Dark Enchantress Cookie rethink her ambitions? Could this be where the heroes realize that despite the truth of their creation, there’s some better goal for them to strive for in spite of it? Or completely randomly, could this be where baby Cookies come from? I dunno what compels me to say that, but it is a witch on Earthbread, maybe this where they come from
I dunno, but the idea of a place where a witch lives on Earthbread raises so many potential questions and feels too important to not have any significance to the plot

Even though Oklahoma is grouped with the Southwest more than the South (it all depends on where the person doing the grouping is from, I’ve seen us lumped in with the Midwest for some reason) we have a lot of sayings that would be considered southern. Feel free to add any, but remember to include the translation.
Well bless your heart - ranges, depending on how close you are to the speaker, or how annoyed they are. Could be a fond “I can’t believe you’re this stupid” or a cutting “god should have sent you back to the factory”
Don’t let the door smack you where the good lord cracked you - gtfo
Use the sense the good lord gave a melon - you were born with a brain, use it.
Jarfly - cicada, shoo fly. I’ve seen ppl use horse fly but those are completely different horse flies bite
Hell in a can - a lighter
Cotton on - same think as “caught on” or realization. I think it’s just the accent and we really started out saying “caught on” and people just heard “cotton” and then they added the extra on.
Rumble - fight
His cornbread ain’t done in the middle/all the lights ain’t on upstairs/ few feet short on a flagpole - there are lots of these kinds of sayings, basically means he ain’t all there.
I reckon - I think or I believe ex. I reckon we’ll get rain today
Hold my beer - shit’s about to get real, and we’re about to be on AFV or the 9 O’clock news
Fixin’ to - about to do something. “Fixin’ to do the dishes”
He’s all hat and no cow - he doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Does a bear shit in the woods/ does a three legged dog swim in a circle - if someone asks a stupid question, and the answer is yes, you can use one of these instead of saying yes
As effective as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest - if someone asks a stupid question, and the answer is no, you can say one of these instead of saying no
High on the Hog - fat of the land. Living rich. Like you put real cheese on your crackers instead of the canned goodness
Sweating like a whore in church - you’ve been caught in a lie, Ooor it’s July and it’s 100 degrees outside
Colder than a witch’s tit in a brass bra - it’s heckin cold
Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit - yes. I’ve heard this in real life. It falls into a group of sayings that a speaker will declare after seeing something outlandish or an expression of awe
Dadgum(it)- what you say when you aren’t allowed to say Goddamnit
Great Balls of Fire/ Jimminy Christmas/ Jumping Jehoshaphat- oh my dear lord.
Buckle Bunny - a lady of the evening whose working grounds are rodeos and whose victims are cowboys. If someone called me one it’d be a rumble for sure
Mickey D’s - McDonalds
Hush your mouth - Shut up
If the creek don’t rise - if something awful doesn’t happen. “We’ll be there if the creek don’t rise”

Quiet Gifts
Fandom: Sk8 the Infinity
Characters: Ainosuke Shindo (ADAM), Reki Kyan
Warnings: Underage
Word Count: 1.3k
Summary: In which Ainosuke visits Reki when he's working on a new board and muses on their relationship. Written for Sk8 the Positivity's Valentine's Week [Day 5: Date Night] and the Sk8 Heart Bingo Challenge [Prompts: Peace, Beautiful, Massage]
The only sound in the workshop is the high-pitched whining of the sander as Reki shapes a slab of wood into a board, working with the careful patience of a craftsman. There's something beautiful about it, watching him draw out the potential hidden within the wood as the shavings pile up at his feet. What he's doing will never be touted as art, but Ainosuke doesn't understand why. How is it that those who devote their lives to learning a craft are treated differently simply based on how mundane their work is? What difference is there between creating a skateboard and creating a sculpture?
Of course, that's not what drives the young man. Fame and fortune might be incentives for others, but so far, Reki's just been sticking to his ideals. He's still young, but his dedication is all the more admirable for it: what he has is passion, a burning desire to learn and do better that will continue to drive him forward in the future. It's something that not many others can lay claim to, and it's not something that Ainosuke was aware of, either, until he actually got to know the boy better.
It's still strange to think about them. When they'd met, Reki hadn't meant anything to him. He'd just been an obstacle standing between Ainosuke and Langa. Even when they'd raced a second time, he'd only been a source of frustration: still an obstacle, but one that had also humiliated him—an unforgivable offense for a Shindo.
When Ainosuke recalls that night, it makes it even harder to understand how things turned out this way. But as he spent more time with Langa and the others, reluctantly associating with their hanger-on, he came to realize that they actually share a great deal in common. Both of them have an unquenchable passion for skating—and more than that, for innovation. Langa had thrilled Ainosuke with his raw talent and ability to challenge him, but in the end, all he was doing was translating what he knew from one sport to another. And when it comes to being challenged now, there's also Tadashi. He still loves skating with both of them and feeling the rush of speed, but his time with Reki is different.
There’s a different kind of excitement that comes from discussing the possibilities inherent in skating: in the design of the board, in the wheels that are used, in the tricks themselves. Reki has a freshness to his thinking that’s simultaneously refreshing and invigorating: even though he can’t pull off some of his ideas, sometimes, Ainosuke can. More often, though, what they try out simply doesn’t work, but that’s fun, too: advancement is most often made through mistakes and accidents. With what they know doesn’t work, they can try to find something that does.
The pitch of the tool changes when Reki lifts it up and rubs at his forehead with the back of his hand, leaving a smear of sawdust above the hard plastic of the safety goggles, before returning to his work. Eventually, though, the electronic whir shuts off completely, and Ainosuke gets up from the corner where he’s been waiting patiently while Reki stretches with a groan, lacing his hands together and pushing them toward the ceiling. Ainosuke’s own hands fall to his shoulders, his thumbs digging into the back of Reki’s neck as he begins to rub small circles into it. Reki's startled gaze over his shoulder makes the man chuckle before the light of recognition sets in.
“Oh. You should have said something if you were here, Adam. I didn’t mean to ignore you.”
“But I like watching you work.”
His palms slide over Reki’s shoulders, his fingers continuing to work on the boy’s back to try to smooth out the tension he finds there. It probably isn’t as good as anything that Tadashi can do, but Ainosuke has received enough massages to get a general idea of how they work. It seems to be good enough for Reki, at least, and he eventually tugs off his goggles and turns around to face Ainosuke, smiling at him.
“Why are you here, anyways?”
“What, I can’t just stop by and see you when I feel like it? Are you cheating on me and hiding a mistress?” Ainosuke teases, leaning over slightly to press a kiss to his forehead, just above the smear of sawdust. Reki flushes instantly, and Ainosuke grins: he isn’t at all worried about that sort of situation happening, because Reki can’t lie to save his life. His feelings always show up on his face, and even besides that, the boy is naively earnest. They’ve never really talked about their relationship that just happened, but Reki just seems like someone who will be devoted to only one person at a time.
“But there really is no special reason,” Ainosuke continues, stepping back to his corner for a moment to pick up a small, plastic bag. Reaching into it, he tosses a cool, moisture-beaded can to Reki while pulling another one out for himself and cracking it open before taking a sip of his beer. For the boy, of course, he’s simply gotten him a soda: illegal skating tournaments aside, Ainosuke does generally try to abide by the laws of Japan. “I just wanted to see you and hang out for a little while. Unless you’re busy? It looks like you’ve got a new idea.”
He nods toward the workbench. The new deck has an interesting shape, somewhat like a boomerang, though the two arms seem to be spaced a bit too widely for someone to stand on them comfortably without falling forward onto their face. Reki's eyes light up as he puts his drink down on the table and picks up the wood to show it to Ainosuke.
“Yeah! I was thinking about trying to make a two-person board! I mean, you probably can’t do any fancy tricks on this, but just cruising along together or something? Of course, I need to make sure that all the wheels are lined up properly, but I thought it was a cool idea!”
“It is rather interesting,” Ainosuke agrees, tracing a finger over the pale wood thoughtfully. “Though I suppose from a safety standpoint, it would be a little more difficult for both riders to feel comfortable on it, since they would both have to push themselves inward rather than straight. It’s not impossible, but given the habits of human movement, perhaps two connected but parallel boards might be more practical.”
“I did think about that,” Reki admits, setting the board down to pick up his soda again and perch on the side of his workbench. “But that just seemed… a little boring. Besides, you could probably do it, couldn’t you?”
Ainosuke laughs before throwing the boy a dazzling grin.
“I could. And perhaps Tadashi or Langa would be able to handle being my partner. It would be fun to try out at Crazy Rock, sometime. Bring it there when it’s done?”
“Of course!” Reki seems excited by the prospect, and Ainosuke understands: both of them like showing off, in their own ways. Perhaps it’s not unlike modeling, in a way: even if Reki can’t fully utilize some of the things he makes, Ainosuke can do it for him, and what Reki creates helps raise Ainosuke’s stock among the spectators, as well.
Ignoring the fine powder that covers almost everything, Ainosuke takes a seat by the workbench, gesturing for Reki to join him. The redhead is eager to comply, lowering himself down onto Ainosuke’s lap so that they’re facing each other. Then, Reki leans forward and Ainosuke tilts his head slightly to meet him, the sweetness of the boy’s kiss washing away the slightly bitter edge of his beer.

It’s 18 August 2023 and I’m having a problem with anxiety. It seems to be either coming from you or from a perceived lack of you, and I can’t tell which. It’s intense.
I’ve been glancing at stuff like Yang-Mills Theory and the Solovay Model, and they both make sense. Which is scary because that was only implied before, like I knew they should fit to HC but I didn’t see how. Example is the inaccessible cardinal required in the Solovay Model: I couldn’t get what that meant until I was able to see the 0-1-0 construction and the top down 1 with at least some clarity. Otherwise, it was just a statement that we assume a cardinal we can’t reach.
I looked at glueballs, which I don’t remember even hearing about. They’re gluons, and those generally relate SBE to SBE3, meaning they come in 3’s, and that invokes IC and f1-3 and the entire 13 conception and more.
I say this with more confidence than I feel. I don’t know the underlying calculations, but I know the higher level statements are true. I could not say that before. I couldn’t say I understood why the explanations are groups, like SU(3)*SU(2)*U(1). SU(2) is quaternions, which I see as D3-4//D4-3, while SU(3) is, if I can translate this, the I//I of a gs, meaning D8, and which thus ‘encloses’ SBE3 in the drawings. U(1) is the circle group. So I translate that very loosely as CR of these 2 forms of I//I, if you take say U(1) times SU(2) or SU(3) or both. The both is hard to articulate. I have to let that sit. Electroweak is the first. And the combination is the third. And that all makes sense, though the words aren’t fully there.
This makes me almost queasy. Like I’m having trouble sitting up because it’s twisting something in me hard.
I looked into Vitali sets, which seem to be at the root of the unmeasurable idea because they were the response to Lebesgue measuring, and the notation is annoying but the idea fit is exactly what HC describes.
And now I’m actually shaking. Like me entire body is shaking. I hope this doesn’t continue. Or get worse.
————————
A cross-dimensional algebra. By us.
Is one which would relate algebraic structures. From polynomials of one variable to rings and groups. Each of those forms embodies a perspective with its own sets of problems and solutions, meaning it is constrained, that there are limits to its power. We describe how to cross those constraints using a series of simple mechanisms which generate a dimensional structure, called D-structure. D-structure enables the creation of finite constructions using infinite processes.
Hard to write at that level. Can’t just say a perspective. Have to say has and leave the perspective til later: so each of those forms has its own sets of problems and solutions. The reason this approach works, though, is that it embodies the idea itself, that there is something which generates processes out of which we can identify a certain number, kind, and type, and that this something appears within the processes and within the results. That is itself a manifestation of the basic inner and outer Boundary conception. That means this isn’t a complete explanation.
My intuition at this point gets confused. The usual way is to build up a long explanation, like in a classroom, but I’d rather have people graps the basic concepts, so images. I see, for example, the formation of D1 out of D0, which means from a dimensionless point to an End, then CR to D2, etc. And that has to go with 1Segments and 1-0Segments.
And that means a new way of describing CR is in there. But of course I just realized we are proving stuff like Zorn’s lemma and other stuff, including the Axiom of Choice, which develops because this is finite construction out of the infinite. The puzzle is extremely complicated and I really need help.
So for example, show and describe the basics and then take on individual parts is obvious, but which parts in what order? Say we name Boundary: requires 1-0Segs.
This seems nuts: I’m seeing a 1-0Segment map to other lengths while still mapping to 1. That’s obviously true in some ways, but in the context of a circle or sphere, this means a 1-0Segment’s infinities build dimensional spaces and the circular Boundary. That’s a map of 1 to the scaled 1. I’ve not seen that before, I think. We’re saying a 1-0Segment enables counting 1 to other scales of 1, including Pi. That’s certainly true with e, because this is the Recombinance needed to make 1 + 1. Okay. So if this is true, then maybe this adds to the understanding so this description for others can proceed.
Let me try to think. We need Recombinance. The logic is the same as with quaternions: you need a 4th D to multiply the 3. It’s the same as in LayerView. It requires construction of grid squares, which act as amplitude and other forms of spaces, including vector spaces. So, we’re pointing at a 1-0Segment, and that means suddenly I’m seeing Poisson point processes and distributions. Need gs construction to have those. So I guess this means we are ready to say that gs construction generates a lot of mathematics. And more. Like Physics but also, since we’re constructing finite constructions, the intangible aspects that connect through the Boundary process to the inner core and vice versa, the translation method by which Things interact with themselves and with the external world.
That is no longer an absurdity to say. It never was, but now it’s a basic extension of the provable fact that everything is a construction. So putting D-structure first makes sense to me.
This is exciting, though the cost to me psychically is intense: just had a conversation about how if we can’t get a good price, then I’m not letting the house go to auction, meaning death. Went well. It’s an actual deadline: if HC doesn’t happen, if we don’t get a good offer, then I’m gone. I tell myself I have to see down that road to see down the road I hope to take, because they’re 2 directions on the same highway. Well, the bad End is well defined and the work End is blooming like crazy. They say 2 out of 3 aren’t bad, but they are if one of the three is the Bad End.
There’s some deep truth in there. The same process of the Triangular End, so an fD me to you, etc. Bad End // Good End are rather definitely Irreducible. Where to define Irreducible? I see this as cases: one case is Irreducible when constructed to a plane, so rotational. Another is to higher dimensional space, so flips. Both require a D-count higher, like D2-3 or D3-4 enables D3-2 and D4-3. A flip, for example, of a square diagonally requires CR along the sK or zK. That process is infinite and n-dimensional, but all that is contained because that orthogonal circle form maps to the sK or zK. If we want, then we can switch projections to see the CR, and then switch back. Is this sensible?
Doesn’t seem complete, but it is sensible. So for example, D3 relates to D6 and not just to D4. Wow. That means Recombinance has forms too. One is the LV form: the szK can be read as the value or meaning of the wings as they balance, as grisp flows through the quadrants, with that meaning both generated internally and generated within the larger szK count, meaning it fits or doesn’t fit, both in individual iterations and in lots or even all iterations. This connects to stochastic processes because those happen within a space, meaning within this LV approach because this describes the restraints on the actual processes so they generate random within the constraints.
My thoughts can turn very bad very fast.
Another form is like D3-D6 // D6-D3. That doesn’t mean we construct the soap opera evil twin, but rather that everything which makes D3 can be unwound except it can’t because of the other D3 in the D6. Can I do better than that? I need a break.

HD Wireless 2022 recs
Here are some of my favorite fics from @hd-wireless  2022. Listed in alphabetical order.
A Case of You by @epitomereally [97k]
Draco was doing just fine working as an Unspeakable in Paris, hanging out with his living and ghostly pals, inventing new spells, and definitely not thinking about Potter. Then, Lucius just had to break out of prison and turn his world upside down.
Now, Draco has to return to England, where he is forced to confront how family ties bind us—and one infuriatingly fit Harry Potter.
An Emerald In The Sky by @corvuscrowned [6k]
The hardest part about shagging an Unspeakable is that they’re not allowed to speak of anything. All Draco knows is that Harry works in Time. Harry works in Time, and while he’s out there in all of that time, it is as unforgiving to him as it is to anyone.
Somewhere along the way, Draco realizes he's been thinking in lines, when he should have been thinking in circles.
I Won't Let You Fall Apart by @xanthippe74 [49k]
Harry has spent the year after the war staying out of the public eye, dodging political battles, and standing firm against pressure from his friends. But he has a secret plan to get away from it all. He just needs to testify at one more Death Eater trial: Draco Malfoy’s.
Little does Harry know what his act of compassion will cost him—and Malfoy.
In Free Fall by @kbrick [81k]
Draco Malfoy is a serious university student whose idea of a good time is translating Ancient Greek texts and having game night with his small circle of friends.
Harry Potter is a hard-partying adrenaline junkie who’s happiest when he’s leaping from an airplane or hurtling over a waterfall in a kayak.
They have nothing in common.
But when they reconnect in the Muggle world, curiosity prompts them to strike up a deal. Draco will show Harry what it's like to be a swotty overachiever and Harry will show Draco what it's like to live life dangerously. It'll be fun, and really, what's the worst that could happen? It's not like Draco's going to fall in love with the guy or anything.
Kept in Cages by @sweet-s0rr0w [76k]
Deep in the heart of the Ministry lies the Beast Division: a hidden room where ancient beasts roam, and winged creatures soar, and grumpy giant ferrets eat all your biscuits unless you keep them well hidden. Draco Malfoy would know – he’s been working there for five years now, after all.
Meanwhile, on Level One, ex-Golden Boy Harry Potter is stuck in another interminable policy meeting, completely unaware of the mysterious comings and goings just three floors below. But when a giant snake emergency requires the assistance of a Parselmouth, Harry finds himself thrust, unprepared, into Draco’s weird and wonderful world – and naturally, he can’t keep away…
Open Fire by @slytherco [38k]
Once upon a time, in a Death Eater-occupied Britain...
A story about the Second Wizarding War, still going on ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts. While the Light Side struggles to keep evil at bay, those who wish to rid the world of Mixed-Blood Wix roam free, growing in power and persistent in their cruelty. In the meantime, in an undisclosed location, a group of rogue partisans works tirelessly, doing one thing, and one thing only: killing Death Eaters. Things complicate when during one of their raids, the Pack captures an old acquaintance who turns out to be a double agent. He can help them change the course of the War but change isn't something their leader takes in stride, both on the front and in his heart.
An AU based on the movie "Inglourious Basterds"
Paper Rings by @lettersbyelise [50k]
When Harry’s in need of a divorce lawyer, he has no choice but to turn to the best in the trade. Draco Malfoy’s reputation for discretion is flawless, and his track record for winning cases is close to perfect. But he’s also ruthless, passionate, and as infuriating as ever, and the brief relationship he and Harry had in Eighth Year still feels painfully fresh despite two decades spent apart.
What Harry and Draco used to be is all in the past. And surely they can work together in these new, emotionally charged circumstances without falling in love all over again… can’t they?
The Siren and the Sailor by @gracerene [13k]
"I'm fine," Harry said, and for the first time in years, he meant it. Because right now, Harry wasn't living his life—he was on an adventure.
Take the Moon by @tackytigerfic [15k]
Harry Potter has always wanted a family of his own, and when a deadly blood curse forces him into a marriage bond with his best friend Draco Malfoy, it looks like he might just have found one.
Living with Draco (biscuit-lover, no work/life balance, good hair) and his son Scorpius (also biscuit-lover, colour-codes his bricks, proud bearer of plastic swan-shaped garden ornament) gives Harry the routine and companionship he’s always craved. There’s also the matter of the really great sex (because what’s a marriage of convenience without a little fun, after all?)
It's just a shame they’d always planned to break up after a year…
This isn't the story of the marriage. This is the story of two hurt and damaged men who learned how hard they could work for the sake of love.
taste you like a drug by @drarryruinedme7 [3k]
The truth is: I can stop smoking. I’ve done it a couple of times before. I simply don’t want to. I guess Mione’s right, Malfoy’s just the same: I don’t want to quit him.
You Know the Feeling  by iota [12k]
Harry waits, but the hex never comes. In the mirror, Malfoy’s eyes dip shut, and he lets out a soft sound that goes right through Harry, heat rising in his body, pushing out against his chest.
Malfoy turns slowly, careful not to dislodge Harry’s hand. He swallows, Adam's apple bobbing, then speaks, his voice low. “Don’t start something you won’t finish.”
***
Harry’s not sure why he’s started hooking up with Malfoy. Boredom, or the heat of the summer, maybe. Whatever it is, it’s nothing too complicated. Right?
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did!

SHINSOU HITOSHI
two years after his enrollment into the hero course, shinsou had finally came to terms with the feelings he’s been holding for you for quite some time now.
what began as just friendly encounters and kind gestures felt like something more to him. after all, you were one of the key people that led him to transition smoothly into the class, with your helpful demeanor and coming to his aid whenever he was stressed and troubled by the new environment.
you went out of your way to organize study sessions and small arrangements to mingle and get to know the other students better.
you reiterated to him that if he ever had any questions about anything, he could always come to you.
initially, shinsou thought he was being a burden—that he was just heavy baggage that tied you down.
however, you assured he was anything but, and stated that you were more than happy to help him, even going to say you enjoyed spending time and getting to learn more about him.
at your response, shinsou was appalled at how genuine you were.
appalled… but also very grateful.
eventually, there came a point when he realized there was no mistaking the affection he felt for you—not when he subconsciously noted every one of your habits and intricacies, able to tell whatever emotions were running through you at a simple glance, or when he would stop to admire the way you decided to style your hair differently or changed your look, thinking you seemed even more charming that day by the confidence you exude.
no, at that point, he’s sure it was painfully obvious. so obvious, in fact, that kaminari and mina had chosen to skip today’s group study session in favor of letting the two of you have your “alone time”. whatever that could mean.
shinsou had grimaced over their excuse of “being too busy that day” when you had told him the reasoning they gave you over text, despite knowing their next exam was only a couple days away. recalling just how nosy and enthusiastic they could get when involved in these kinds of affairs, he had an inkling of what exactly those two were planning. you, on the other hand, seemed completely oblivious to their schemes.
however, what did latch onto your mind was the thought of spending the day with only shinsou, in his very room, sitting across from each other with your textbooks open in front of you. though you should be more attentive to your studies, you couldn’t help the palpitations beating loudly in your chest and your wandering eyes that snuck glances at him after every question you answered.
unbeknownst to you, shinsou mirrored your actions all the same, reciprocating the flustered behavior, albeit a bit more subtly.
keep calm, hitoshi. why are you getting all worked up? he would say to himself, putting on his usual facade.
although he came off as relatively calm and collected on the outside, it’s difficult to keep his emotions in check when actions never lie.
that was especially true as he reached his hand out for the eraser you two were sharing between each other. with his eyes continuing to gander down at his notes, he hadn’t noticed that you were lunging for the same thing—not until your fingers had suddenly touched and you both pulled away at a speed equivalent to making contact with fire.
his stare unfaltering, shinsou was surprised to discern the embarrassed look on your face that immediately fixed itself as you rummaged through your pencil pouch. a second later, you pulled out another eraser, one that was notably smaller than the one you were sharing.
“um.. i’ll just use this,” you offered, and shinsou rubbed the back of his neck, the whole situation more awkward than it needed to be considering you never had any trouble sharing your supplies with each other before.
through some examination of your demeanor, shinsou had made a… bold enough claim, thinking that maybe—just maybe—you held the same kind of affections for him as he did for you.
it’s like he recalled earlier—actions never lie—and shinsou didn’t let the quiver of your lips or the intense concentration at your work to avoid meeting his gaze go past his head. that’s what spurred him to finally act on his desires.
without warning, he leaned forward on his seat to lay his hand over yours that caught your attention. you met his eyes, astonished to say the least, but more so concerned by how your eyes widened before you were about to open your mouth to ask him what was wrong.
the violet-haired male beats you to your words, voice resonating firmly, “y/n.”
you blinked. “y-yeah..?”
“i know this might be a bit late coming from me, but,” you could feel his hand tighten atop yours, “after exams, do you want to catch a movie together? just the two of us?”
shinsou fought the urge to look away, bashful at how he made his declaration for your time. the warmth surging under his skin was alleviated at the smile that slowly curled on your lips as you rotate your wrist, your palm touching his. the expression washing over your features told him you’ve been waiting for him to ask you this for a while now.
“i’d love to.”
Tumblr media
AMAJIKI TAMAKI
ever a shy and introverted individual, tamaki has never had the heart to ask you out despite years of harboring a crush on you.
every time the thought had crossed his mind, he’d reason poorly with himself that you wouldn’t be interested in him in that way.
it didn’t help that his low self-esteem only deepened that thought that had now rooted itself in his brain.
at such a prestigious school like u.a., you were bound to find someone far more compelling than him—someone with guts, confidence, and great social skills. not a guy like him who conjures the image of potatoes at every anxiety-inducing encounter he comes across.
he was relieved enough to settle himself comfortably as just your friend—a title that allowed him to stay close and keep within your circle, all the while subjecting him to simply admiring you from afar.
but his eyes that held a hidden longing for more weren’t overlooked by a fellow student of his. or to be precise, the ever curious and free-spirited, hadou nejire.
always aware of his surroundings, it was hard not to notice that peculiar stare she’d aim at him during moments where he might’ve just finished speaking to you, or when you’d pass by and his head would naturally drift in your direction.
it was like she was picking apart every detail laid on him and it made tamaki absolutely restless.
tamaki’s suspicions and anxiety were later raised during one instance at the lunch table. he was at his usual seat next to his other big three companions, mirio and the aforementioned nejire, who was eyeing him with a gleam in her eye.
even with his self-consciousness, tamaki did his best not to pay any mind to the undesired attention and munched on his plate of takoyaki—the octopus nestled in the batter sure to come in handy later in training that day.
to his dismay, you passed by their table with your tray of food in hand, and nejire did not waste any time calling you over in that cheery tone of hers.
she invited you to sit down with them. you gave her invitation some thought before ultimately placing yourself in the free spot next to mirio, with nejire and tamaki already seated across from you.
the girl was all smiles and hums while tamaki was in a state of distress, both at his friend’s odd behavior, which was starting to spell trouble, to having you pulled into all of this. mirio was just being mirio, welcoming as always.
you greeted everyone at the table, making eye contact with mirio and nejire, but tamaki evaded your line of sight. he simply waved his reply without breaking away from his balls of takoyaki.
luckily for him, you didn’t give his lack of words much thought and started digging into your own lunch. it was then that nejire found it appropriate to start up a conversation.
“y’know, y/n, i’ve been meaning to ask you this, from one girl to another,” she mused, finger waving around playfully, “are you interested in anyone here?”
upon hearing her question, tamaki almost choked on his bonito flakes, his cheeks puffed and eyes blown. meanwhile, your chewing slowed as you gave your answer some thought.
“uh… well–”
“i’d say fujita from class d is quite the looker! think you’d be interested in them?”
after swallowing the food in his mouth, tamaki began to subconsciously listen in on the conversation. he paid close attention to your responses with bated breath, a small part of him anticipating your answer highly.
“fujita’s nice and all, but i don’t think we’d really get along as a couple.”
tamaki mentally sighed, relief evident all over his face. it was then that mirio had started fitting the pieces together after watching his close friend’s brow wrinkle throughout the entire exchange before finally relaxing at your words. crossing his eyes with nejire’s only confirmed his suspicions as the girl sent him a wink.
as a friend, mirio wasn’t about to let nejire’s operations fall flat. getting up from his seat, he motioned tamaki to come with him.
“i heard they have extra yakisoba bread right now! we should go check it out!” he said as a guise to give the other two time to themselves, free from tamaki’s prying ears.
unaware that mirio had caught on so quickly, tamaki didn’t object to tagging along with him. mostly because he thought of this as an opportunity to get some fresh air and calm his racing heart, finally feeling the effects of the blood rushing to his face.
with tamaki supposedly out of earshot, nejire was free to go about her questions however she wanted.
“okay then, if not fujita, then who? there has to be someone, right?” the girl scooted further in her seat out of pure curiosity. “tell me, is it perhaps someone in our class?”
it was your turn to be stricken by her boldness. you tried picking at your food, stuffing it into your mouth to avoid answering, but nejire’s tenacity outmatched you.
finishing your lunch, you opened your mouth to speak, “actually, the person i’m interested in is pretty close to you…”
nejire feigned ignorance, innocently placing a finger under her chin. “who? mirio?”
“ah no, it’s tamaki, alright?!” you ended up blurting, voice hushed but frantic.
bingo. hearing exactly what she wanted, nejire returned to her original position, a triumphant grin plastered on her lips. replaying what you said out loud in your head, you buried your warm face in your hands.
unbeknownst to you, tamaki had ended up hearing the whole exchange around the corner coming back to their table as mirio lightly snickered at his revelation of an expression.
the blond patted his shoulder. “go on then, you know what to do.” he threw tamaki an encouraging thumbs-up.
the boy gulped in response before inhaling a deep breath of air to prepare himself for what would arguably be the most important yet stress-inducing moment of his life so far.
noticing you getting up to discard your tray, tamaki—through a final push from mirio—went to make his move.
hearing him suddenly call out to you, you were caught off-guard. after admitting to your crush on tamaki to nejire, you felt your cheeks get hot just seeing his face right afterward.
“oh hey, did you get your hands on those yakisoba breads?” you scraped up a way to start the conversation.
“right... that… mirio managed to get the last one in the cafeteria,” he answered. then he brought his hand to rub his elbow, fidgeting in his spot as he found it difficult to look you in the eyes again.
“tamaki? something wrong? are you upset that he got the last yakisoba bread?”
he shook his head. “no, i… it’s just… i’ve been meaning to ask you this for a long time now, but never had the courage to say it to you because i didn’t think you ever liked me that way. but…” he finally mustered the determination to face you head-on. “would you go out with me, y/n?”
at first, you were speechless—absent of words as you relayed his request in your mind over and over again. then, your eyes softened, lips easing into a smile as you reached out for his hand.
“i thought you’d never ask.”

TODOROKI SHOUTO
it’s no surprise to many that when it came to asking someone out, todoroki didn’t exactly know the first thing to do.
mostly because he’s never asked anyone out to begin with.
you were the first person he’s ever felt these kinds of emotions for, and to be frank, he wasn’t sure what to make of everything that had been going through him when that root of infatuation had started to bloom inside him.
rather than sulk or contemplate on his thoughts for too long, he surmised it was best to simply come clean and ask for advice.
but when he confessed to what had been on his mind lately, he wasn’t expecting such a vigorous response from his friends.
“i’ve been thinking about asking y/n out.”
there was a layer of uncomfortable silence amongst the group before all hell eventually broke loose.
midoriya, uraraka, and iida immediately sprung from their seats in the common room, yelling “what?!” in unison. tsuyu and her frog-like mannerisms were more idle, but still surprised nonetheless.
todoroki was unfazed by their reactions, actually expecting it to go that way considering he’s never brought up any topics of that nature before. at the very least, he’s thankful he decided to say this when it was just the five of them. compared to what the whole class’s reaction would have been like, this was incredibly tame.
todoroki was used to always listening to what others had to say and never being the subject of the conversation when it came to dating.
but now things were different. he was openly admitting to them that he was regarding someone romantically. that he possibly sought a relationship with this someone—wanting to be committed to them and become the very best person he could be right next to them. to the four, this was coming completely out of left field.
after everyone simmered down and let the news sink in, the dual-haired boy resumed his thought,
“but i’m not sure how to do it.”
though the entirety of the group never had any experiences when it came to dating, they knew enough from media and pop culture to get an idea on how to help him. more than todoroki could imagine on his own anyway.
“i know! how about we go with the romantic and suave approach!” uraraka suggested. the rest asked her to elaborate.
“it’s simple! it starts by you leaving a note on her desk right before class, saying to meet you on the rooftop of the school! before the designated time, you should wait there for her with a bouquet of flowers, and then when she arrives, confess your feelings and ask her out!”
midoriya rubbed a finger against his cheek, skeptical. “i don’t think that sounds as simple as you’re making it out to be.”
tsuyu chimed in beside him. “those kinds of ideas usually only work well in books, ochako.”
pursing her lips, uraraka gave her plan a once-over, and realized it did seem a bit more involved and out of character than what todoroki was used to.
despite sharing a few more ideas with one another, they couldn’t narrow it down to any perfect one.
that was when iida clapped his hand, bringing everyone’s attention to him.
“alright, i think we’re starting to blow this whole ‘operation’ way out of proportion,” he said.
“if you’re honest about the way you feel about her and show it sincerely, i’m sure she’ll consider your feelings. you don’t have to do anything extravagant when it comes to asking someone out.”
listening throughout every word, todoroki nodded. meanwhile the other three were astonished that their class representative could be so whimsical when it came to romance, which in turn, iida was conflicted by. however, at the very least he was glad they could help out a friend. and so, todoroki went about his day with their discussion in mind.
he found that in many occurrences, whenever he crossed by you and thought of it as a chance to ask you out, there would always be someone to come in and take your time away. leaving him to stand there awkwardly before dismissing the fated question for later.
eventually, the sky dimmed and evening arrived, and by then, the whole class was already back at their dormitory and about to have dinner.
through some rather convenient circumstances, you two were actually assigned on kitchen duty that night.
“it’s been getting pretty cold lately so i was thinking we should cook up a hot pot for everyone.” you gave your idea to him as you pulled out some ingredients from the fridge, waiting for his reply, but it came a few seconds later than you were expecting.
“right. sounds like a good idea,” todoroki answered a tad late. upon realizing it was only going to be the two of you making dinner tonight, his mind was occupied by what he and his friends spoke about earlier.
that was when he started overthinking the situation and absentmindedly half-assed his work.
“todoroki, the cut on the tofu is slightly uneven.” you reviewed his cutting board. looking down, he saw the inconsistent slices of tofu limp in front of him. if bakugou were the executive chef for the evening, he would’ve had to hear an earful from him.
“sorry…” he apologized quietly, reaching out for another cube of tofu to cut.
“is everything okay? i know you’re still learning how to cook, but i’ve seen you show some significant improvement on your knife skills recently.” you voiced your concern for him.
the white and red-haired boy stared at the white bean curd while hearing your worried tone and couldn’t find it within himself to continue the task. it was now or never he thought. he laid the knife flat on the cutting board.
“actually, i wanted to ask you something.” he turned toward you. “do you… want to go out with me?”
nothing but the sound of the fire running on the stove could be heard in the kitchen. todoroki didn’t move his eyes away from you, watching you nearly drop the plate of siu choy and shiitake mushrooms out of shock as your mouth was hanging open.
when you caught onto your bearings, you let out a small laugh. “oh… i… wasn’t expecting that,” you admitted honestly, placing the ingredients on the counter safely.
the boy furrowed his brows. “is that a no?”
“n-no! i mean that isn’t my answer! i–” you fumbled with your words, cheeks warming up now that his confession had finally sunk in. in the meantime, todoroki found your reaction quite amusing. the corner of his lip quirked into a grin.
“what i mean to say is that yes, i’d love to go out with you.” you accepted the offer wholeheartedly. todoroki would be lying if his heart wasn’t throbbing from anticipation. he’s glad he’s able to rest and put that aside.
“now let’s continue making this hot pot together!” you cheered, smiling widely and he found comfort in your words before resuming slicing the tofu.

Loki was unlike any other lover you had had before. A literal god, he exuded a dominance both inside and outside the bedroom that you were very much addicted to. He knew how to take care of you in every way shape and form, having you weak and babbling as he pulled pleasure out of you for hours in bed using ropes, toys, degradation… Anything to get you off in the rawest way possible.
And you very, very much enjoyed it all, obviously. Loki’s style of loving was so fresh and inviting. You had never been with a man that could be so commanding. Heck — you never thought you’d be attracted to any kind of commanding from any man. But while he brought out a secret primal side in you, at heart, you were still a sucker for softer, more loving nighttime activities.
You just… You just didn’t know how to bring it up with him. For as much of a confident man he could be, you knew some insecurities lied beneath that armor. He was always very insistent at the end of your nights that you let him know if you enjoyed yourself. You certainly never lied but you also really, really craved something slow.
Still unsure, you called a friend one night to vent and hope she had some ideas. Really, though, she didn’t understand your dilemma.
"Girl, you’re getting railed by an Asgardian God. I don’t understand the problem."
You sighed into the phone, gripping it between your shoulder and cheek as you began prepping dinner. "I don’t know. I just want him to be a bit softer, I think. Maybe something closer to love-making."
She chuckled. "Do you think he even has that in him?"
"Of course," you said. "He’s more than sweet out in public. There’s no reason that can’t translate into the bedroom."
"Well, then I think you should just tell him."
"I know, but-,"
Your words were cut off suddenly but the sound of something loudly hitting the dinner table behind you. You jumped, turning abruptly to find Loki standing in the kitchen, staring you down. He must’ve thrown his book on the table to get your attention. You looked between the item and him.
All while you’re engaged in a staring contest with your visibly confused boyfriend, your friend is screaming at you on the other end of the line asking what happened.
"I-I’ll call you back," you said quickly into the receiver before ending the call. The vibe in the room had gone cold. You didn’t know how but you knew Loki knew.
Still, you forced a smile, deciding maybe it was best to act like you weren’t discussing such intimacies with a third party. "Hey, babe," you said before turning back to the food you were preparing.
Loki didn’t respond and you were way too nervous to look over your shoulder. You focused on the slicing of vegetables very, very closely…
A hand landed on your hip. He was behind you now. You could practically feel him breathing down your neck. His hard body was pressed to your back. But nothing about him seemed to scream angry or hurt. He was amazingly calm.
"Who was that on the phone?" Loki asked. He was just about whispering in your ear. You gulped, trying to keep your focus on the cutting board in front of you.
"My- My friend," you responded. Another hand was suddenly on your other hip, pulling you into your boyfriend. You sighed at the contact.
"That’s nice," he hummed. "Must be good to catch up with your friend."
"Yeah-,"
"But tell me, dear, do your conversations together always end up with you complaining about our sex life?"
You shook your head. "Loki, I wasn’t complaining-,"
"You want me to be softer," he gritted.
You sighed, placing your kitchen knife back on the counter and pushing away the vegetables. Dinner was definitely on hold now. "That doesn’t mean I’m complaining," you explained. "I love what we do so much, you make me feel incredible, but I also want to slow down sometimes. I’ve loved exploring the rougher side of sex with you, I just… I want the other side of it, too. A balance, maybe."
There was a lull for a moment before Loki hesitantly spoke, "I’m afraid I won’t know how to."
You closed your eyes, absolutely dreading hearing the words you had feared. But you pulled through, slowly nodding your head, trying to accept it. "Alright, I understand—"
"But I want to try."
"Y-You do?"
He nodded as one of his hands slowly began creeping its way up and under your blouse. His hands were so rough compared to your soft skin. As Loki’s hand brushed over your bra-covered breasts, warm lips began decorating your neck with kisses. He nipped and sucked still but it was nothing compared to how he used to do it. It didn’t feel like he was trying to devour but instead savor you.
"Is this close to what you had in mind?" Loki asked, his voice dropping lowly. You moaned in response as his hand began traveling south, fingers light and delicate as they skimmed the top of your shorts.
Your eyes slowly drifted shut in anticipation as you murmured, "Feels good…"
Loki tsked. His hand stopped. "You haven’t felt anything yet."
There was a swooshing sound. You opened your eyes and in your confusion took in the sights of your bedroom. Loki was still pressed behind you. You were facing the bed.
"If my darling wants traditional loving then it needs to happen in a traditional spot, correct?"
You wanted to comment that being transported to the bedroom in such a manner wasn’t traditional by any means but before you could speak, Loki was guiding you to the bed, sitting you at the edge of it.
He dropped to his knees in front of you, throwing one of your legs over his shoulder. "Are you…" You began to ask but were cut off by him placing a kiss in your inner thigh.
"Now," he mumbled into your skin, "I prefer to feast rather hungrily but I’m going to try it your way, okay?"
You bit your lip, nodding slowly, completely hypnotized by the sight of Loki kneeling for you. Usually, when he ate you out you were completely lying down in bed. He had never dropped to the floor for you.
"Terrific," he said and with a flick of the wrist, your clothes had vanished.
Again, you wanted to bite back that that certainly wasn’t part of old-fashioned love-making but your protests were silenced by his tongue finding your clit. Gently, he moved in soft, tight circles around your clit before testing your folds. Instinctively, your hands flew to his hair, tangling your fingers in his dark locks as your body arched in pleasure.
Loki let out a low hum at your grip before his tongue slowly maneuvered its way inside you, caressing your folds. You gasped as his tongue worked on you, bringing you closer to an orgasm. He began altering now from your folds to your clit, pulling pleasure in surprising ways. To add to it all, Loki’s hands were running up and down your thighs as he went. You didn’t know what it was about the simple touch but it was driving you crazy.
The longer you stared, the faster the tongue worked, the closer you were getting… Your brain was spinning as you felt your orgasm building.
"I-I’m-," you tried muttering out but Loki seemed to get the memo. Abruptly, he removed all contact. You gasped, a bit surprised, a bit angry. You shot daggers at him.
"Patience, honey," he snickered, "You wanted it slow and sweet, didn’t you?"
"Yes, but…" Your words couldn’t finish, once again, as Loki attached his lips to yours. Slowly, he pushed you back on the bed as your tongues now fought with one another. You were completely encapsulated in tasting remnants of yourself on him and the kind way he was kissing you, you didn’t even realize what was happening until your head hit your pillow.
His lips left yours and began working down to your jaw, your neck, across your breasts… It felt like he was loving every inch of your skin. You felt truly beautiful, admired, at that moment as he practically worshipped you. He placed a quick kiss on your clit and you thought maybe he’d continue his actions down there but then he was back, face level with you.
"Fair warning, darling," Loki whispered, "it’s going to take all the patience I possess to go slow once my cock is buried deep in your soaking core."
His gaze was intense, almost too much, but you just nervously nodded and waited. Loki intertwined one of your hands together while the other one fell to your hip. Typically, at this point he’d just grab your waist and pull you into him, never giving you the chance to breathe or adjust. He’d fuck you a bit wildly, letting bruises from his fingertips litter your skin.
Tonight, though, everything was with a lighter touch. And when he entered you, he stopped halfway, letting you both really feel the moment. You moaned at the fullness as Loki groaned in your ear. When settled, he eased in fully and you were just about done for.
You could see Loki resisting the urge to just take you relentlessly but then he placed a gentle kiss on your lips and pulled out a little, slowly, before diving back in. Your back arched as you felt every inch of him, really felt him. It was so snug but just right. You felt your wetness pooling shamelessly.
"That’s it," Loki groaned as his pace continued at a slightly antagonizing slow rhythm. "Doing so good for me, honey."
"Feels amazing…" You sighed, taking in every time Loki’s cock would nudge the right spot or stretch you just a little bit more. It felt… It felt like a first time. Like you two had been saving this moment.
Loki’s pace picked up just slightly and you knew he was getting close. That was maybe one thing he could never resist — chasing his orgasm with you at all cost. You snaked your free hand down to your clit, working for that extra pleasure but Loki’s hand on your hip quickly pushed it away.
"I’ve got you, darling," he whispered and replaced your fingers with his. He rubbed tight, cautious circles on your clit. You squealed as your orgasm began approaching quicker and quicker.
"Please," you begged, "I need to cum." Loki could never resist your begging and it seemed to drop the facade a bit. The circles and pumping picked up even faster. It hit you at that moment that while you loved the slow foreplay, getting fucked in such unconventional ways was really delightful.
Loki must’ve felt your walls tightening because he mumbled, a bit weakly, "Cum for me, dear. Come on, cum for me."
A few more flicks on your clit and you were there. Your back arched off the bed again as your body shook. Your orgasm filled you just as Loki was now filling you. The warmth of both actions consumed your body, bringing pleasure beyond belief. You twisted and turned on the bed as you two slowly came down from the highs.
Loki gently wrapped his arms around you, still huffing and puffing from his own pleasure. He was still inside you as he laid on the bed. You could feel his release leaking out of you and onto your thighs. You sighed, very content.
"Was… Was that okay?" Loki eventually hesitantly asked. You were watching the ceiling, still trying to get your breathing under control, as he stared at you. He disconnected your hands and began carefully running his fingers through your hair, lovingly.
You nodded. "That was lovely," you smiled. "Thank you."
"I just want to make sure that every time you leave this bed, you’re satisfied."
"I-I didn’t mean to make you think I’m not satisfied," you mumbled. "I’m always pleased when you’re pleasing me."
Loki grinned at the silly phrase. "Good," he said then began moving a sneaky hand down your body. It stopped where you two were still connected. You let out a sharp breath at his touch. "Would a round two be satisfying? You’ve had your love-making. Now I want to fuck you."
You could barely nod your head in response before Loki was pouncing on you.
