andrew and neil may not be soft but they do know devotion, and I feel like we’ve got a fair bit to back that up with canon:
it’s in andrew taking neil’s weight time and time again, holding him up.
it’s in neil rushing to cover andrew with the bedsheets after thanksgiving.
it’s in neil asking betsy to put andrew off his drugs, because he was the only one who hated them & what they did to andrew as much as andrew did.
it’s in neil offering himself to riko’s torture for two weeks to protect andrew.
it’s in andrew driving back from the interstate just to get neil from the stadium.
it’s in andrew calling all the hospitals over and over again, because he refused to stop looking for neil.
it’s in neil gently brushing his fingers against andrew’s temple and, “they could’ve blinded you. all this time fighting, and you never learned how to duck?”
it’s in neil framing andrew’s face with his hands instead of touching him.
it’s in andrew refusing to let anyone near neil in his injured state, it’s in his firm “get away from us.”
it’s in neil’s “andrew, they want to take me away. they want to insert me in the witness protection program, I don’t want to—“ no, that wasn’t fair. “if you tell me to go, I’ll go.”
it’s in andrew sitting in on neil’s interrogation with the fbi because, “I don’t trust them to give you back.”
it’s in andrew sleeping in a room full of people just to keep neil in his line of sight after he was kidnapped.
it’s in neil’s quiet “hey” when he noticed andrew hadn’t spoken since they left baltimore.
it’s in andrew covering neil’s injuries with trash bags so that the bandages wouldn’t get wet.
it’s in neil humming encouragement in andrew’s mouth when andrew was getting himself off, knowing how big of a step that was for him.
it’s in andrew showering him & carefully scrubbing away the horrors of baltimore.
it’s in neil saving the towel for andrew afterwards and choosing to air dry.
it’s in andrew buying a pair of matching armbands for neil to cover his scars, after he saw neil having a panic attack over them.
it’s in neil crossing the court in seconds the moment a player launched himself at andrew to knock the breath out of him & it’s in neil grabbing that same player (that was double his size) and throwing him away from andrew.
it’s in andrew dragging himself to neil, crumpled and unresponsive on the court floor, with a broken collarbone and limp hand & it’s in andrew somehow managing to choke his attacker before she could reach him again.
devotion is in both neil and andrew, and they wordlessly taught it to each other without expecting anything back. they found each other, realized that no, they weren’t willing to lose each other, and gave their complete devotion to the other.
and I think that’s far more special than softness or an half-assed “I love you”.

hi!! i have a writing prompt for you pretty please with a cherry on top: andreil, airport rainy day with a delayed flight and cuddling. i just love airports
i loved this prompt so it is the first one I finished. hopefully this satisfies your needs:
The flight to California was supposed to leave at six in the morning, but weather had delayed it until further notice. Andrew was already on edge from waking up so early, and the fact that they were going to California just made him cranky. Neil took his phone and changed all of Andrew's nap alarms to an hour early so he could adjust.
"You okay?" He asked.
Andrew just grunted in response.
"I have juice in my bag if you want."
Andrew shook his head and went back to picking at his nails.
If Andrew was going to be this grumpy the whole time, no one was going to get through the day unscathed.
"Take a nap, then," he suggested, "I brought your blanket."
Andrew looked over at Nicky, then back at Neil.
"Oh for fuck's sake, Andrew. If you think I'm gonna let anyone get near you, you're fucking crazy."
"Don't care."
He busied himself with his nails again, then got bored and went to search for food. He didn't ask Neil to join him, but he went anyway.
After a couple minutes, Neil found a perfect solution.
"That place has cocoa," he pointed. "Do you want some?"
Andrew started walking towards the store in lieu of an answer.
"Read," he demanded.
Neil cocked his head in question.
"My contacts broke."
"I have your glasses with me-"
"Read."
Neil rolled his eyes and began listing menu items he thought Andrew would like. He didn't even bother with the list of Matcha Teas, though he made a mental note to get one for himself.
They arrived back at their gate with a peppermint hot chocolate and a peach matcha. Hopefully the warmth of the drink along with the sound of the rain could lure Andrew to sleep; at least that was the plan.
It was a good plan, too. After half an hour, Andrew was fighting to keep his eyes open. Neil clicked his tongue and ran his hands through Andrew's hair. He had to be methodical about putting him to sleep. One wrong move and he'd be in danger of getting bit, and probably be subject to the silent treatment.
Luckily, his plan had worked out okay. Andrew tucked his feet up underneath him and laid his head on Neil's lap. Of course there were plenty of old hags in the seats nearby that felt the need to glare at the PDA. Thankfully, Neil's scars proved useful for some things. He glared right back and could've sworn he saw one of them crossing herself. With his barely healed Glasgow scars and broken hands he supposed he did look like the Devil. It didn't matter anymore. He was content with whatever would keep them away from Andrew.
He carefully reached down to grab Andrew's blanket. It was yellow and lightweight, with a sunflower pattern. Bee had got it for him after Aaron's trial. A peace offering before the difficult weeks to come.
Neil threw it over him and by the grace of God, didn't get a glare in return. He went back to sipping his tea and reading the synopsis of the book he'd secretly bought for Andrew. It was a young adult, about a boy trying to prove himself to his father with the help of his ghost friend. Maybe at the hotel, Andrew could read it to him. Neil much preferred it that way; Andrew doing the hard part so Neil didn't have to watch the letters jump around the page, taunting him. Laying his head on his chest to feel the hum of Andrew's soft voice. It had become a nice way for them both to unwind after long games. A tradition of sorts.
Neil looked down at Andrew once more. His blanket had slipped slightly down his shoulder, so Neil blew on his face to let him know he was there and pulled the blanket up under his chin.
Andrew made a small hum of appreciation and went back to sleep again.

I'd love for Kevin's healing journey to start with him asking Jean to teach him how to cook.
It played a big part of Jean's and helped him overcome problems that Kevin still has but just has decided to ignore (I'm pretty sure Kevin Day still doesn't know how a microwave works but he is too proud to admit it and no one has noticed yet).
Like, just imagine, it's summer break and Kevin has gone to visit Jean. They are eating in the new house something Jean made and Kevin just comments "You are getting really good at this" and he means cooking but Jean can see how he also means healing but before he can say anything Kevin continues, barely audible "Would you teach me?"
And using those exact words makes Jean's stomach twist and his lungs stop working. The memories make Jean sick. He wants to say no. He wants to kick Kevin out of his home. But then Kevin gets up and says "Forget I said anything, I shouldn't have... I have to go." He is starting for the door but Jean catches his wrist.
"I'll teach you." Because Jean has realised what Kevin is really asking for. This time it's not about secrets and surviving, it's about overcoming and evolving.
The first few classes are a mess. Jean had said he would help, he hadn't said he had to be happy about it. There is so much frustration on both ends that it makes the kitchen feel small.
One day, Jean is rambling on in french about how he has explained three times how to turn the stove on and Kevin still forgets every time and Kevin snaps and says "It's not my fault if you are a bad teacher, stop getting mad at me."
And Jean just stops because he has gotten so used to complaining in french so no one can understand him that he had forgotten for a second Kevin could. "If I were a bad teacher you wouldn't have understood me." He pauses, then turns to french again. "You need to press down and twist so the gas comes out. Then you can light it."
Kevin does as he is told, finally managing to get the stove on and places the pan above it. "Thank you." He adds oil to the pan. "For teaching me french I mean. I would have lost myself in there without you."
It's the first time they talk about it and Jean isn't quite ready to, but hearing Kevin saying so starts healing something he didn't know could.
Jean passes Kevin the onion he has just chopped and Kevin adds it to the pan. Jean doesn't want to speak about Evermore today but he doesn't want to lose the bubble of honesty that Kevin has created. "Jeremy is learning french to speak with me." He says in french because Jeremy is in the living room.
"So I've heard, yeah." Kevin replys in french smiling and Jean pushes Kevin's shoulder with his own as protest. "But he is not good enough to understand us yet, right?"
"No, why?"
"Tell me about him."

Haha, thank you so much! I'll be honored if you incorporate it! Keep me updated if you end up doing so please, I'd love reading it!
Ok... so... you know the video of that man that wakes up his deaf and blind dog by lightly blowing on her so she wakes up without getting scared?
Hear me out... Andreil.
Like, one day, they are alone, sharing the same bed and Neil has woken up before Andrew and he's staring at him wondering how to wake him because he needs to go somewhere but Andrew's arm is around his waist (not that he is complaining). And touching Andrew is obviously out of the question but he also has gotten startled previously when Neil has tried talking to him to wake him up, so... He just... Blows lightly on Andrew's face waiting for a reaction. And it works.
Andrew is confused as fuck at first, because wtf is wrong with your brain Neil, but once he opens his eyes Neil is smiling so brightly and proud of himself for waking him peacefully for the first time that it makes Andrew realise how important this moment has just been.
Obviously Andrew tries to brush it off with some comment on how Neil's morning breath stinks and Neil chuckles quietly and amused and he lets Andrew change the topic as they rise up into their morning routine.
It just becomes a habit after that if needed.
The Foxes were highly confused when they saw Neil waking up Andrew on the bus like that but no one commented. Renee was the only one to smile at the image (the others were visibly horrified and or confused) and Andrew rolled his eyes at her as he got up from his seat. She raised her hands in a gesture of innocence and turned around to lead the team off the bus.

Neil spends most of book one thinking “the trust Kevin has in this 5 foot nothing blonde psycho is insane” and “how kevin thinks andrew is enough to stop the yakuza is beyond me” while being the most careful person in the planet
then Andrew promises Neil safety and neil says bet and proceeds to spend the second and third book trusting andrew as much as kevin does, maybe more, so much so he uses every possible opportunity he can to insult the yakuza and make himself a bigger target
biggest 180 on the plannet
