Thank you for adding your vegan recipe! I was thinking silky tofu for the eggnog. I'm not vegan, but it seems a good substitute idea, even for the clueless. After all, it has protein and can be used to make "cheese"cakes, so maybe? Then again, to me, eggnog was just a thick, drinkable sugar and nutmeg delivery device until I realized it makes me sick.
The banana is just ridiculous, though. It has none of the protein structures that solidify when heated like egg. My instant thought was aquafaba. You would probably have to whip it separately and then gently fold in the rest of the mixture, but it (theoretically) should solidify in the oven.

Anon, you have excellent taste, she is perfect and precious. She's a very sweet girl 😊 she's a clingy cat, but not in the traditional "wants to be on your lap" sense. She likes to follow me around, and sit close (but not too close) whenever she can. She's my constant companion while I'm writing 💙
She's very social and very insistent on greeting everyone in the house when they wake up or get home from work. Most days when I get up in the morning, she jumps up onto my bed so we can cuddle and she can purr and knead and suck on my blankets. I call it purr time and it's my favorite thing ever because she very rarely purrs otherwise.
She was a really hyperactive baby, though she's calmed down a bit as she's gotten older (she turned two in August!). She's still sort of a menace though, if she gets bored then she starts chewing on my things to get attention.
She's really tolerant, also. My brother loves to mess with her (like holding her up high or gently rolling her over while she's sleeping), and she's never bothered, and when she is she just meows super gently to go "hey, stop it!" She lets us clip her nails no problem as long as I hold her like a baby (which is as adorable as you'd imagine), and in the past when I've had to give her pills she just lets me, no fighting or trying to spit it out.
I've realized I'm rambling so sorry about that but. yeah she's an absolutely wonderful little girl, really sweet and affectionate and my favorite thing in the whole world. Thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about my daughter, take a few of her baby (ish, we got her at nine months) pictures below the cut as a token of my gratitude.

ok soim gonna ramble about the wedding in the tags cos this is my diary lol kitty dont read this (she's not been on tumblr in ages it should b fine pfft)
#personal#ok so first of all it was a very overwhelming but amazing day!#the food was INCREDIBLE lol i honestly want the recipe for the chickpea fritters (that were covered in sesame seeds) like asap lol#sad i never got to have an italian pizza#(partly cos i was mainly w/ my mum who cant eat too much wheat rip...)#the venue was also amazing! there were all these animals (it's like a sanctuary thing?)#it was a shame it was cloudy and rainy that day but it wasnt too bad lol#(like look im english i'm used to it being rainy and cloudy 90% of the time pfft)#the actual vows ceremony part was honestly a highlight#i cried lol (it was a mixture of things... i was tired and overwhelmed... also i love my sister a lot ofc lol)#(also didnt help my mum was bawling her eyes out next to me pfft)#(also wasnt the only one cos when we went to say goodbye all my other sister's were crying too pfft...)#her husband's family were a Lot but all super lovely!#what was really funny is that they sat us on tables w/ a mixture of italian and english guests#and on both our table and one of the others everyone was bonding by showing each other pictures of their pets pfft#(mainly cats lol)#the dj wasnt that great pfft (yes i was mainly annoyed that there was no kpop cos i think my sis said she wanted to include some...)#i did get up and dance v awkwardly (mainly forced to by one of his sisters pfft) but it was fun lol#ohh and her dress(es) were seriously stunning!#the one for the main ceremony was like a classic victorian(?) sorta style#with an amazinggg 30s style veil!#her evening dress was shorter and she'd sewn the flowers we'd all been helping make for her on it#and it was honestly just so gorgeous#(i might try posting some of pics of it if i can?)#she also made her husband's waistcoat which matched the colours in her dress :')#struggling writing this rn cos i have a very needy cat trying to demand attentino lol#(we picked them up from the cattery today and i think they had a p tough time :(((( i missed them so much honestly)#anyway so the not so great things were the photographers (which ?? there were two ??? why ??)#they were really invasive and annoying lol#half my family couldnt even see my sis get married cos they were in the way ugh

#guys i was in such a baking kick over the summer i cannot stop thinking abuot a natejo bakery au#doesnt matter why french canadian jo is in colorado with a cafe/bakery but he is#nate is nate as we know him osmething or other tyson finds the bakery#introduces them dududu nate CANNOT stop just dropping by every time he heads to practice#his daily order is black drip/americano + whatever jo's special is for the day#this is like circa 2017 or smth so nate's done going thru it (avs 16-17 season) and hes in his chickpea pasta if i dont hit my protien goal#something terrible is going to happen era#but sweet sweet jo and the way he goes all shy and pleased when nate compliments his pastries and cakes and what have you that hes#desperately convincing himself that the fibre in the apple turnovers outweigh the refined sugar + sat. fats definately for sure#(one morning he's in and jo's so fucking gorgeous under the morning light that he couldve handed him a spoonful of buttercream frosting and#the macros wouldve been worth it just for seeing him)#idk one day jo makes low fat high protien banana bread ('theyre real chocolate chips though' jo's telling nate 'but there's also walnuts'#nates not thinking much beyond jo made this for /me/ and he's a little fucked if he falls in love with a damn pastry chef but jo's placing#peice in his hand and it's still a little warm and his fingers brush against his palm and his heart is beating out his chest like he just#got double shifted in overtime so maybe he's been a little fucked this whole time. tyson is going to have a field day with this revalation.#bc tyson mentioned that youve been focusing on healthy eating right?#anyway.

OOOH GOOD QUESTION. splitting this up so awkwardly bc i said so much… also full disclosure i was vegan for 5 years until a year ago so most of the soups i make nowadays are still at least vegetarian 😔 unless you don’t eat meat in which case 😄
you can never go wrong with a classic minestrone imo which is basically a broth of your choosing with whatever vegetables you have on hand (https://ricette.giallozafferano.it/Minestrone-di-verdure.html)
but i’m also a big fan of coconut milk-based soups such as https://ohmyveggies.com/thai-pumpkin-soup-recipe/
or a good chicken soup with a hefty amount of dill ❤️
i think you can never go wrong with anything that has a root vegetable base (potatoes, pumpkin, winter squashes, etc) and i love anything i can add loads of ginger to!!
some fav soups of mine are carrot and ginger (exactly what it sounds like, i roast carrots and fresh ginger with oil salt pepper and it would be mad delish with curry powder too & blend it up with broth and you could totally add cream or milk),
pastina with chicken broth and tons of grated cheese (i follow my heart when making it there’s no recipe but it’s comfort food),
oooh you could even do a broth started with sautéed zucchini in a pan (onions, some sort of cured meat if you’re a meat eater, that type of stuff) and pasta!!!
my mom did a lot of soups growing up perché siamo napoletane and that’s peasant food so OH MY GOD LENTIL SOUP. LENTIL SOUP. carrot celery onion lentils add some fresh greens once boiling maybe some chopped tomatoes…
my mom also made this awesome mushroom soup with quinoa kale spinach and cinnamon when i was sick last year and it healed me (spiritually).

i was like oh hehe let me make a silly joke but then i was immediately like oh god i am submitting myself to the mortifying ordeal of being known.....my kitchen is a lawless place i am incredibly lazy and never follow recipes and never measure anything i just make shit how i like it but that is. not conducive to cooking for other people when i cook for other people i break out the recipes....making my chickpeas is more personal than kissing w tongue thats like us being alone in the kitchen together....it doesn't even have a name ren i just call it yummydelicious chickpea in my head whenever i make it.....if i don't have coconut milk i use lemon juice which is just. an entirely different meal but it is all yummydelicious chickpea to me.....

my parents THOUGHT they didnt like indian food because like. their experiences were basically limited to the random curries offered at white boring restaurants or canned curries. but recently i made a butter chicken recipe for dinner that they fuckign LOVED. like straight up my mom was obsessed w it and wanted the recipe i found. unfortunately i had to make some adjustments cuz at the time i didnt have much money to buy some things n didnt have the time to go to one of the indian grocers in my town.
but now im like. i have discovered a new Cooking Goal to make more dopeass indian and south asian dishes as authentically as i can. cuz its fuckign good and i already have an established love for japanese/chinese and other asian foods but havent delved too far into indian foods beyond like. pakoras and samosas.
but the issue im having is that me and my mom have WILDLY different tastes in foods and spice levels and many vegetables. like i love peas but they make her nauseous. i love a good spicey kick but shes not partial to it. i cant stand peppers or onions or mushrooms, she loves all those. its a fucking battle
