Tagging - I have absolutely no idea of who did it already so I’ll blindly tag @mamey2422 @sdktrs12 @xstrawmari @juuuunaaaaoooo and @nottonyharrison
Well I did this a while ago, but I guess a couple of things have changed ever since...
ao3 name: Well, not everything. It’s still BourbonOnTheRocks, haha!
fandoms: Still Good Girls. Graceland if you squint really hard, and hopefully Crazy Ex-Girlfriend one day...
number of fics: 16 (which is. Insane.)
fic I spent the most time on: Lol. It’s All Coming Back To Me has been a work in progress for like 8 months now, so it has to be this one? Although if one counts strictly in terms of time spent on it, and doesn’t includes the literal weeks I spend without actually opening my doc, it... still might be it because ugh, ten chapters already! But I did spend an unreasonable amount of time on Take A Dip too, and the more I go the more time I tend to spend on writing and editing, so it could be any fic... Also have you considered the highest time spent/words count ratio?? Cause that would probably change the answer a little bit.
fic I spent the least amount of time on: Well, it’s still He’s not Dumb which was started from scratch, written and posted in less than three hours. I probably won’t ever reiterate this performance.
most hits: Still Love And War, for chronological reasons.
most kudos: The last time I played this game I predicted that It’s All Coming Back To Me would eventually top every category... And it probs would have. But then the kudos bombing happened (lol), so it’s finally Take A Dip (but directly followed by the former).
most comments: It’s All Coming Back To Me
most bookmarks: It’s All Coming Back To Me
highest total word count: Love And War
favourite fic I wrote: No. No. No. I won’t pick one favourite among my babies!!!! But I’m very satisfied at the moment with We're Living In A Powder Keg And Giving Off Sparks and Take A Dip. I put a lot of work in the characterizations, and these two were also my first post-S3 canon-ish fics and finding the right tone wasn’t easy, but both of those fics came out pretty satisfyingly.
Oh and I love my envelope crackfic too -- and not only because now Four Seasons In One Day isn’t alone anymore in the least kudos category -- but mostly because since I have a taste for angst, I hardly ever write tooootally fun stuff. I mean I try to bring some comical relief even in my darkest stories, but Envelopes Comin' In The Mail, Let Her Open 'Em was the first time I allowed myself to write something fully for the fun, which is something I don’t indulge in very often.
fic I want to rewrite/expand on: Oooooof... Obviously if I had an unlimited amount of time and motivation, I’d probably rewrite Love And War because it makes me cringe so much right now!!!! But I can’t say that such a prospect enthralls me at all. I also have a drafted ‘five years later” epilogue/fifth chapter to A Reason To Fight that I’m not sure I want to post yet, I haven’t decided if it would do any good to the story or not.
Other than that... I mean I already have too many new fics to write/edit, I’m not gonna start giving myself more work with expansions!!!
share a bit of a wip or story idea you’re working on: So I’m totally aware that the last time i played this game I shared a sneak peek to the Good Girls/Crazy Ex Girlfriend crossover promising it would come out soon, and it was like three months ago, and that fic’s still not on top of my posting list... I’ll try not to repeat my past mistakes, and will share an unedited excerpt of the second chapter of the Western AU, hoping that it will not eventually curse it, haha.
He watches her yanking the man down the other horse with quite a deliberate absence of care, and he'd swear she let him fall down the ground in purpose. The man loudly groans in protests and Rio can't completely repress a gasp at the sight of the man's face.
Now don't get him wrong. He's seen some pretty ugly shit back then in the army. It takes more than just a little blood to upset him, it's just -- it's the idea that she did this. Probably with her bare hands cause she exudes a general rejection of the basic concept of tools.
"Jeez, you could have spared his bone structure!" he scolds.
"Think he deserved it?" she immediately bites back with an irritated wave of her head as she inflicts a string of rapid kicks to the guy's butt until he's on his feet, his hands still tied up in his back.
As if on sync with her rhetorical question, the man spits some blood with a groan. Pretty sure there's a tooth too in the repulsive mixture that drops and draws a crimson star on the dusty ground.
"She's crazy, man! I might need facial surgery for that!" the man yelps in a high-pitched, strangled voice.
Rio smirks, takes his time to blatantly ignore the guy's complaint, his stare focused on her. She stares back at him, challenging, a light of triumph ready to ignite in her deep blue eyes. Cause obviously the pathetic loser whining in front oh him deserved it -- this and more. He can't contradict her on that. But...
"Ain't the point, sweetheart."
Elizabeth rolls her eyes with an exasperated glare.
(Guess who the beaten up man is for another sneak peek!!!)

Maaan, what an rollercoaster! We literally go from amazing to fine to incredible. Which kinda makes me angry because this is how this season SHOULD look like. Okay, fine, let’s skip Goldy Pond, but let’s make it equally amazing as this. Just in an anime original way. And this episode proves they COULD do it. It’s a pity that it took them over a half of the season to reach this point. But let’s start from the beginning.
1. So, Peter Ratri is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya. I was joking with my friend that it might be the reason why the quality of the animation isn’t always the best - because he took a half of the budget. Anyway, I think he is doing a good job with voicing this character right now, but I will wait with the final judgement for the Peter’s meltdown scene.
2. Just a fun fact I read in the manga: apparently when Isabella tells Norman that he is going to a new home, Shirai used the kanji that can also mean ‘cage’.
3. Another thing I loved: they showed how Norman found about Vincent. It’s shown in the extra pages for one of the volumes (I don’t remember in which one right now).
4. Again, I like that the first 7-8 minutes were fully focused on Lambda. I think that this is something that anime-only people really needed (without the context, it’s difficult understand how MUCH those guys hate the demons and why). And for manga readers it was cool to see it in colour. But on the other hand, I’m kinda disappointed that they just showed us the images of the experiments. I think adding movement and sound would make those scenes absolutely terrifying. But hey, at least they showed it!
5. So, we found out a little bit about the escape, buuuut it was nearly as much as I was hoping for. Based on the panels in the manga, we could have already guessed that they used some kind of explosives. I guess we still need to wait for another special chapter/light novel.
6. Annnd after the amazing lambda part we jump to the search... Now, do you know why this whole thing was more engaging in the manga?
Because we got her. I don’t think it will be controversial if I say that the search for Mujika was really boring. Just a bunch of pictures and building up suspense by showing us that CGI demon. Speaking of that demon!
7. You know what pains a lot in this episode? SO MANY reused animations. I mean, the test solving animation, the demon, the chase, later the demons degenerating and demons eating other demons... look, I know they want to save money, but there are some limits!
8. Apparently Ray, a guy who has been living in the wilderness for months, needs a watch to tell that sun is setting. Just a minor nitpick that I had to point out.
9. Okay, I think we can official crown Norman as our new edge lord. I mean that monologue on the top of the rock... I know that words are from the manga, but when it’s shown like that, it looks more silly than serious. Also, the quote ‘I will gladly become a God or a devil’, doesn’t make THAT much sense here, because we didn’t get this scene:
To me it felt like unnecessary fan service towards manga readers, but I’m happy for you if you liked this scene. Norman is allowed to become our tiny edge lord.
10. You know what made me angry? Don and Ray shooting the demon, but Emma and Gilda not. Yes, Emma does it a second later, but it became a trend to give her badass scenes to boys. The next scene, however, made me furious.
11. Ray shoots the demon and then he and Emma share a sigh of relief. But then it turns out that the wild demon is still alive and it’s going to eat Emma. Wait a minute... I have seen it somewhere... OH, RIGHT!
Of course, there are situations where Emma is the one who is being saved. The problem is that in the anime she is always being saved by someone - never the other way around. I’m happy that Ray is given stuff to do, but why is it that he is given Emma’s stuff. Come on!
12. Also, how did they know that it was Norman who caused the explosion? How far did they actually went? Are you going to tell me that they were in practically the same location for months and nobody found them? Again, those are nitpicks, but they bother me a lot!
13. Also, apparently the drug is now spread through the air, and Norman’s whole gang is made out of edge lords who need to stand dramatically on the chimneys. I can imagine that during planning they had a conversation similar to: - Boss, do you know what ever genocide needs? - What? - Dramatic JoJo posing over the burning villages. - Good, good... write that down!
14. Okay, enough ranting, let’s move to the incredible stuff. First of all, the music in those last scenes really reminded me of the Witcher Soundtrack and I LOVE the Witcher soundtrack. So epic!
15. I actually stopped taking notes at this point, because I was so immersed in everything that was happening on the screen. The music, the tone, the colours, the expressions - THIS! This is what this anime should be from the very beginning. Making us care about the demons, and showing that they are also the victims of this system. The actual dread and thriller, the moral issues, engaging plot lines.
16. The scene with the old demon and Norman? Good anime original content? How is it possible? When the old demon asks Norman whether he is a human and he doesn’t answer - because at this point he himself isn’t sure. Yes, give me more of that!
17. Norman being terrified after seeing blood on his hands? That’s a good change from the manga Norman, because it makes narrative sense. Really, CloverWorks, how can you make such an amazing scene after those 6 mediocre and one good episode?
Anyway, it’s difficult for me to add anything right now because I don’t feel like I have enough words to describe how much I loved that last scene. Does it mean I have forgiven this season its previous sins? No, but I’m a happier person right now, and I’m REALLY looking forward into the next episode.

11/11/11 tag
Thanks @pheita for tagging me! :)
1. What is your favourite genre to write? Fantasy, because you can put almost all other genres in it but also dragons ;D
2. Who is your favourite OC and why? How can you ask me that?? How the hell should I know? :’D Probably Ava or Kiyera from As Dreams Collide? I have no idea. Maybe Onii or Timbre or Selandri from LDOO! I love all my children so much for so many different reasons?!
3. Who is your least favourite OC and why? .... uhh..... I find all my Ellariel characters really hard to write because they’re so inhuman. It’s especially hard with Mikaen because we get so close to him and his thoughtprocess... so from a hard-to-write point... maybe them.
From a purely "I despise them” point of view, it’s 1) Rheon, who’s from Feuervogel, my first ever “proper” wip (to be continued when I’m better at writing...). He’s a minor city lord and has sympathetic motivations (saving his people from starvation, ...) but the ways he goes about solving these problems and the way he changes throughout the story are ... not good. :’D Also Kardim from the same wip (but I can’t say anything more about him because it’s all spoilers). He’s pretty horrible. And Luzire from As Dreams Collide. And...
Basically I have a few antagonists that I really don’t like as people :P
4. Do you ever find yourself self-inserting in your writing? I think every character is a tiny piece of me because how else am I supposed to bring them to life? :) Some are just a bit more “me” and others a bit less. :)
5. Are you hoping to publish your work? If so will you submit your work or self-publish? Hm, I haven’t really thought about it yet because the first step is to create a finished story that can be published XD So I’ve decided to tackle that issue when I get there. But right now I think I might go the traditional way because I don’t have enough experience with self-publishing (and don’t really think I’ll be that good at the business side of that). Maybe I’ll change my mind when I actually get there, though :)
6. What is your favourite book and why? I have faaaar too many favourite AUTHORS, let alone BOOKS xD
But I did manage to meet Brandon Sanderson yesterday and I’m still reeling with that so I’ll say Oathbringer, book 3 of Stormlight Archive (which is phenomenal) because I cried in public transport at 11PM surrounded by strangers who all stared at me, but I didn’t care at all because I was in SO DEEP and cared so much. He’s the reason why I fell in love with creating amazing worlds and magic systems, and I care about soo many of his characters SO MUCH and just. The plots are amazing, too?? His books are literally everything I want. AND HE’S SO AWESOME IN PERSON TOO???? Still Shooketh.
Thank you @random-stuff-thrown-into-a-pot for bringing it to my attention that he was in Berlin yesterday :’))) <333 (and getting my book signed when I didn’t know if I could make it in time ;W;)
7. Do you set yourself goals in your writing? If so what is your current goal? Hm, I work really well with nanowrimo goals because the NEED to have a pretty statistic is enough to force me into aggressive productivity. That helps especially well during November, a bit less so during April and July. Apart from that I don’t really have word goals because quantity isn’t really a problem for me, more the fact that I have to be happy with what I make because otherwise I’ll just rewrite it from scratch instead of editing XD so the nanowrimo mindset is actually not all that helpful for me, apart from writing the very first draft... up to a certain point. XD
8. Do you like to handwrite your drafts or type them up? My hands will die if I handwrite them so I type actual scenes etc. Also, my hands are far too slow XD. I like plotting on paper, though. Especially when it’s larger than A3 and I have a lot of space to just let my mind wander :)
9. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer? Not moving on to the next project when I get a new shiny idea... also not rewriting a chapter again.. and again .... and again.... :’D
And not being discouraged when nobody else seems to care! There are people out there who love exactly what you do. You just have to hang on long enough to find them :) ... even if it’s hard.
10. Do you plan out your projects or just start writing? First draft is usually me having a series of ideas and knowing the beginning, end, and a few things in between. (That’s also usually the beginning of NaNo). So then I write and discover things and characters along the way, until I get roughly to day 15 of NaNo, when I sit down and make a rough outline. It’s still very general, just story-beats, but then I have a better idea of where I’m going and already know the characters a bit (So I can see if things might work or not) :) So then I write draft 1, which is mostly me telling the story to myself, and tweaking the outline if I have to. Especially near the end, when characters have changed over the course of the story and the plotted ending wouldn’t fit them anymore :)
So I’m somewhere between plotting and pantsing, where I plot the general course of the story but am more of a pantser when it comes to characters :) And also always have enough room to change things around when I have better ideas along the way!
...At least in theory xD. As Dreams Collide (ADC) is the only thing that’s ever come this far (I’m still re-plotting draft 3) and it’s had MAJOR changes (and turned into a trilogy... sigh) so I can’t really say that it’s been all that structured. But most of the process above is how I’ll continue working for Like Dragons Of Old (LDOO), for which it worked really well this far :)
Slowly but surely I’m getting the hang of this, I think!
11. Do you like to stick to one project or have multiple ones at once? I have all in all 8 wips that I all want to finish one day. (with possible spin-offs that like to show up.. sigh) Out of all of these, I started LDOO lsat november, and I’ve been working on ADC on and off since november 2014.
I only work on one thing at a time but LDOO isn’t quite as much on hold as the others, and it’s also the one I’ll go back to when I’ve gotten ADC to the point where I can let it wait a while :D (So when I’ve written draft 3, I guess)
tagging: @corishadowfang @lynnafred @asttralhell @raiswanson @paper-shield-and-wooden-sword @random-stuff-thrown-into-a-pot @fatal-blow @wilde-writing @kittensartsbooks @romenna @cirianne if you want to <3
I think I was tagged for this multiple times last month (or before that?!) but I’m really bad at doing all of these so heyyy I did it now! XD

how do you feel about the amount of bb fans talking shit on Yana about the current arc? it is apparent that everyone is tired about singing boys prancing around on stage but the disrespect needs to stop, it pisses me off. Yana works so hard to give us a chapter every month and never takes a hiatus, i acknowledge that doesn't justify the lack of plot in this arc but damn, where is your faith in Yana? @you know who you are What are your thoughts?
Hi! Well, I gotta be honest and say that I did complain too about this arc of course, after all, we did have like 8 months of nothing but idols, and several people lost interest in the manga because of that too…
BUT
at least I can recognize a good chapter you know?? And 125 was indeed a good chapter! It really felt like the pace and plot were back again and I’m really happy to see that! But of course, a nice chapter isn’t enought for some ‘fans’ and I’ve seen people who are still complaining about this chapter because:
they want more idols
they’re angry bc x character is being cold.. as if said character had never been cold before
they want a little sapfest between the P5 and S4 so that they can all solve their internal oh-so-relevant issues
they don’t like Ciel and Sebastian, they’re boring and overrated, at least with the idols, things were interesting (wth??)
they want each of the secondary characters that Yana has ever presented to have more development and more panels and this and that
Honestly, it’s kind of annoying. I mean, how are all these things relevant from a wider perspective? How are they gonna play an important role in the plot that we so need to move forward right now???
I basically think they all complain for the sake of it, they can’t admit that this was a good chapter because of that teeny tiny little thing that didn’t happen exactly as they would’ve wanted it to happen. To me that’s childish, and meanwhile, as I said, I did complain too, my complaining was based on an objective fact: that the plot wasn’t going anywhere, not on all this subjective things that these people ‘want’ but the author is not listening to them about it (omg the tragedy!)
There’s a difference between ‘I don’t like this’ and ‘I think this is bad’ and some users should really try to realize that.
Besides, if they hate so many things about it, including the protagonists, then why are they still reading Kuro?? Only to complain about it?? Please grow up a little!
And of course, as you say, Yana does work hard, that is true indeed. I mean, she’s never gone on hiatus for more than 10 years. She’s truly committed to her work and we should be thankful. If you don’t like where the manga is right now, leave it, and come back later, but I really believe there’s no need to come here just to spread negativity.
