Shitty (almost) end to a very shitty week. I'm going to say neutral, because I can see the reasoning behind this.

Which I get, blocking and filtering exists, but to be quite frank with ya, if a tag to a fandom is only filled with hate, and I was new to that fandom and half the people in it I'd have to block just to find what I'm in the tag for, then I won't go on the tag at all. That's how you lose new fandom members, and also lose old fandom members, because they'll move into other fandom spaces that are respectful.

I can't even browse the Sakura Haruno tag without it being almost entirely filled up with filtered words. I can't feasibly block every single person I find there. It's literally half the tags themselves.

But in saying that, I do believe Critiques and Debates are a healthy thing in fandom spaces, and should happen in fandom spaces, but if you're just going to be an asshole, just don't bother with the fandom in the first place. That's what Anti- and Critical- whatever tags are for.

Of course, as I mentioned, Critiques and Debates should be normal for a fandom. Everyone has something to say about a character/plot/story/show/ whatever, and it's healthy to engage with said thing with this. Then you have some fandoms that see critique and debates as hate, and that in itself is an issue that does need to be fixed.

I see the reasoning. Truly I do. And I can't tell you what you are or aren't allowed to do in fandom space, but you can't control how others will respond to you either 🤷‍♀️
