i think my official take on charlie and alastor's dynamic is that i don't particularly care for it as a ship (LOVE some of the art though), BUT i do think their relationship is going to be one of the most interesting things about the show, and definitely MY favorite part. something about the sunshine princess who's actually SUPREMELY terrifyingly powerful and the equally upbeat and ever-delighted yet equally terrifyingly powerful demon who is at the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of the morality spectrum is one that is sooooooo good. i need them to be best friends SO BADLY

Argenti's eyes slowly opened, laying in bed for a moment before sitting up, stretching his arms above his head. Looking around the room, everything seemed to be exactly the same as when he'd woken up a couple hours earlier.

However, this time, Boothill was gone.

He peeled off the covers and got up, shuffling into the bathroom to do his morning routine, namely his skin care and hair care.

After 15 minutes—a record for him—he walked back into his room, sitting down on his side of the bed and grabbing his phone. Unlocking it, he found no new messages from Boothill.

A strange pit settled into his stomach, his eyebrows furrowing. Something didn’t feel right.

He quickly pressed the button to call him, holding his phone up to his ear and waiting for him.

To his complete shock, he heard Boothill's phone ring from the dresser on the other side of the bed, where he normally sleeps.

Argenti swallowed thickly and crawled over to his phone, ending the call on his end.

Quickly unlocking Boothill's phone, the only new message he found from Caelus. He immediately tapped onto his contact and read through their messages.

Caelus: You sure you wanna do this mission solo?

Caelus: I can still join you if you want

Boothill: nah, I can do it by m'self.

Caelus: Alright, if you say so. Caelus: Have you told Argenti about it yet?

Boothill: he doesn't need t'know. At least not everything right now. It's not that important.

Caelus: as long as you're sure.

Caelus: if you need backup, don't hesitate to call

Boothill: thank ya, kindly, but I'll be alright.

A knot welled up in Argenti's stomach, and he quickly stopped reading, rushing to put his clothes on.

Something was terribly wrong.

He needed to find Boothill now.

After rushing around for about ten minutes, he was finally able to leave his room, with both his and Boothill's phones in his pocket.

Walking out to the main car on the Express, he looked around, and spotted Caelus nearby. He sat with Dan Heng and March, chatting as if nothing was wrong.

Dan Heng noticed him first, raising an eyebrow at the concerned expression on his face as he walked up.

"Caelus," Dan Heng began. "I think you have a visitor."

Caelus looked up at Argenti, and upon seeing the worry on his face, knew what happened. His eyebrows furrowed, letting out a small sigh.

"He's down in Belobog right now; he said he didn't want anybody to go with," Caelus admitted. "But we haven't heard back from him in hours. If you wouldn't mind-"

"I'll go find him right away," Argenti immediately responded. "Thank you, Caelus."

With that, he swiftly turned on his heel and left. He needed to find him, and now.

A million thoughts raced through his head as he landed on Belobog, immediately setting off to find his silver cowboy.

Why would he go off on his own?

What could've possibly been going through his head, going off without his phone?

Is he alright?

Is he hurt?

Is he-

Gunshots.

He heard gunshots nearby.

Hope filled his chest, summoning his spear and running forward, he had to be nearby, he had to-

The first thing he saw were the bodies of voidrangers, scattered around the area, all starting to disappear. Boothill had made good work of them.

He frantically looked around, and spotted one final voidrangers, looking far stronger than it's comrades. It attacked, a flash of silver-

"Boothill!" Argenti cried out, the voidranger stabbing into his silver cowboy's shoulder.

He saw red.

He charged forward as it ripped itself from Boothill's shoulder, stabbing his spear straight into its heart, knocking it off balance.

He and the voidranger flung back a few feet, the voidranger landing on it's back, Argenti's spear lodged deep in it's heart.

He leaned in close to it's face, his expression frightingly calm.

"You." He hissed, his boot slamming onto the shoulder of the arm used to stab Boothill, pressing down hard enough to shatter the bone. He ignored it's pitiful scream of pain, opting to press harder.

"How dare you," He twisted his spear, galaxy-like blood pouring out if it's chest. He once again ignored it's cries and screams of pain, his grip on his spear tightening. "Attack my beloved like that."

He twisted his spear again, "Let this be a lesson to you pathetic creatures. Never will you attack him, again."

He withdrew his spear sharply, giving it one last look before turning around, simply letting it bleed to death.

He wouldn't make it's death easy. That would be too kind.

He put his spear away, quickly running over to where Boothill had laid, his beloved cowboy's eyes wide as he witnessed the whole ordeal.

"Boothill, darling," Argenti gasped, kneeling down to him, looking over his wound. "By Idrilla, are you alright? Were you hit anywhere else? Were-"

He stopped upon seeing Boothill's bewildered expression, looking between him, and the dying voidranger, choking on its own blood.

"Darling?" He whispered, gently cupping his face to have him look at him. "Look at me, please. Are you alright?"

Boothill blinked, trying to focus back on the red-head in front of him, the warmth of his gloved hand on his cheek dragging him away from the voidranger.

"I..." He mumbled, swallowing thickly. "Yeah, I'm...I'm alright. 'G-'Genti, what are ya even doin' 'ere...?"

Argenti chuckled softly, "What else would I be here for, darling? You," He leaned in, gently placing a kiss on his forehead, rubbing his cheekbones with his thumb. "I needed to find you. You were gone, and I..."

"'Genti," Boothill interrupted, giving him an apologetic, yet urgent, look. "We should keep talkin' 'bout this later, probly need to get me back to the Express," He tried to move his injured arm, only to wince, and put it down. "Need ta' get this fixed."

Argenti quickly nodded, "Ah, yes, apologies, darling. Here," He swiftly picked Boothill up, seemingly without any effort at all. "I'll carry you back. We'll get you fixed up in no time."

Boothill nodded, his face flushed slightly as Argenti picked him up. They walked back to the drop point for the Express in silence, a pit setting into Boothill's stomach.

I’ve just finished the series Lockwood & Co on Netflix and I am OBSESSED you don’t even understand 😭😭 are the books worth the read? I’ll be real the only thing keeping me locked onto it is Lockyle, literally my fave ship of all time now. Do the books have Lockyle too or was that added by the tv series??

The books are 100% worth the read. Best books I have ever read if I am being honest, they are just that good.

Locklyle is an undercurrent of the entire series. Their relationship is not the focus of the books necessarily, but it’s always somehow part of the narrative. I don’t want to spoil too much but the Locklyle content in the books is to die for. It’s different than the show for sure, because the books focus only on Lucy’s perspective and she’s the very definition of an unreliable narrator, but their relationship is the heart of the story in so many ways.

If your sole interest in the books is Locklyle I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed, just be prepared for a slower burn. It’s worth it though.

anyway. poor pathetic man is (hopefully) getting a villain arc and i think he needs it. he deserves to snap and hurt and use Lore on the others. so *so* badly i want them to listen to him but i know it's unlikely. and *gem* being the one to kill him. one of the few, few people who at least pitied him.

and then *the past sheriff.* let me tell ya, my brain is riddled with angst by him.

because the moment i saw him, after getting excited about it being martyn, i was like 'oh. oh. Jimmy is going to *idolize* him.' and i was like i can see where he could end up like a positive figure but then. *but then* he started explaining how he was the most respected sheriff so my brain took a curve to be like 'oh, he's going to be like Jimmy. lying to people about respect.' and then he explained that "people were so in awe of me that they'd run inside and shut their doors." and i don't know if my brain has ever taken a sharp turn so quickly. generally, i try to see the fluffy things and those are my comfort, but when i tell you my next thoughts were 'oh no. he was feared. people respected him bc he was scary.'

and it *kept going* with the alcoholic tendencies, people trying to keep him away, R.E.S.P.E.C.T, *ricky*. bc in the stream (i only watched a little) he says that ricky was his ex-deputy that did nothing but cause trouble. my next few thoughts went like this;

'he was a corrupt sheriff for sure.'

'they trapped him on purpose. they wanted him to be gone.'

'he's going to ruin Jimmy.'

and for the life of me, i couldn't stop thinking about how the past sheriff would probably be super manipulative in that nice way so that Jimmy could only rely on him for any positive reinforcement, Jimmy is willing to do *anything* so someone will *just stay*, and in the end, i genuinely think the past sheriff is going to try and take his spot. bc Jimmy already is listening to everything he says and of course, everyone already likes the past sheriff more, just to mess with Jimmy.

and, of course, the sheriff likes other people more too.

bc tumble town is empty. what do you mean it's empty? he's got villagers, yeah but he doesn't interact with them. he, in general, probably forgets they're there. but like that literally broke my heart bc he's alone. and people only visit him to taunt him.

so yeah i think Jimmy deserves to be a little bit mean. he probably won't be. he'll probably be manipulated and ignored and we're all going to go crazy. he's probably going to end up like how pearl was in double life.

[sidenote: it sucked to type on mobile and try the italics. so the asterisks are italics for the parts it didn't work. except that first sentence. i am in tears. i spent like 20 minutes faffing with the italics. and i can't get rid of them otherwise the entire paragraph changes so. yeah. it looks ugly.]

(i do want to mention that i nearly died laughing at the beginning of the stream where fwhip just chases the past sheriff around asking if he needs a deputy.)

“My father said something to me often,” Maura interrupts, her eyes narrowing. “The law is the law. None are exempt.” She tosses a disdainful look at the duchess. “Those who have no respect for the law will always have excuses for breaking it.” She bends down and tips the duchess's chin up with a finger. Keelan's fingers tighten around his sword. Maura tilts her head to the side. “Your Grace,” she says. “You asked for mercy. You shall have it.”

The duchess sobs. “Thank you, Your Majesty—”

“Do not thank me, wretch.” Maura's lip curls. “Your mercy is the mercy allotted by law. Tell me. Which foot do you value more?”

The duchess's lip trembles. “I beg you, Your Majesty, mercy—”

“You shall have it.” Maura's eyes are unforgiving. “Which foot?”

The duchess's eyes dart around the throne room, wide and terrified. “I—I don't know.”

“Hm.” Maura releases her and stands. “She can have more time to decide. Until she does, get her out of my sight.”

3. Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?

i love all my children equally this is a mean question. currently my favorite chew toy is Jack, who is a minor character in my current wip. Jack is a pathetic disaster bisexual who was left to die as an infant but still managed to survive to adulthood and is using that luck to cause problems on purpose. he steals for a living and flirts for fun and profit. he is in love with his best friend/accomplice Arthur, but can't handle real emotions and is being really thickheaded about it. Arthur is too busy pining for him to notice. Jack is just a little guy. gay boy disaster man. also he killed like 20 people.

4. What process of writing do you enjoy the most?

working out plot/worldbuilding issues. i love sitting down and going "ok how am i going to make this make any gddamn sense" and then bouncing ideas around until i hit one that fits perfectly. yeah sex is great but have you ever found the perfect answer to your plot hole that ties together all the recurring themes and arcs in the story AND has an opportunity to use your overcomplicated worldbuilding?

5. What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)

mainly dialogue. i love imagining conversations and i've been working on dialogue for a long time. my dialogue used to be so cringey so glad i learned from it

6. What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?

we're all a little unhinged about our own writing so nobody minds when you get a little unhinged about their writing. safe space to be unhinged about people's writing

7. A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)

i use campfire write and i love it for keeping worldbuilding organized. it has a lot of visual tools which is great for me personally and it's very customizable. highly recommend it, there is a free desktop version that still gets you quite a bit of usage and the mobile app is free

8. A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)

i've really enjoyed fleshing out the countries outside of Raedora and how their political systems and cultures are different. for example Guildi also is monarchical, but they have an emperor and their law is absolute, followed exactly as written based on the judgment of the emperor. Fierodia, by contrast, is the homeland of the dragons, so they have two governments--one for the humans, and one for the dragons--and both are a little more democratic in nature, with a Council of the Wise (elders) ruling the dragons while the most powerful magical human families sit on another council that takes petitions from representatives sent by villages and cities.

9. What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

open a blank document. i do this in a simple text editor (.txt) because it forces me to look at the words more (idk how else to explain it). write the dumbest thing you can think of. literally. if you get stuck, hit enter a few times and start writing something else. yes even if you get stuck in the middle of a sentence. do NOT let yourself sit there staring at a blank document, just write. even if it's bad and stupid and doesn't make sense. ESPECIALLY if it's bad and stupid and doesn't make sense. write the stupid little plot bunnies that you came up with in line at starbucks. bullet point a short story you'll never write. purposefully write the most gd-awful purple prose. have some silly little fun with it. rewrite snl episodes that you think would be funnier if you were in charge. anytime you are stuck for more than like 30 seconds hit enter three times and try something else. rinse and repeat until the gears start turning for the thing you actually want to work on.

save these files (i have a little dedicated spot on my drive) so that you don't lose your funky little experimental stuff. you never know what you'll find there later.

i adore @serenanymph's wip beast and all the blorbos found within and how much she supports lacuna. @lyssa-ink's wips my beloved. @zmwrites has some incredible wips and an amazing writing style. i love the worldbuilding from @akindofmagictoo's dragonsong and @oh-no-another-idea is one of the biggest sweethearts on this website.
