i hc the whole pines family as native bc im ndn and i like to project. i think both stan and ford grew up very disconnected from their culture, but mabel and dipper did not, and are helping them reconnect by making them take them to the Gravity Falls powwows in the summer and mabel showing them her jewelry and regalia making skills and dipper sharing his favorite legends. mabel made all her regalia herself, shes a jingle dancer but also does fancy shawl from time to time. dippers regalia was made by mabel with the help of some of his aunties. hes a mens grass dancer. specific tribe is up to interpretation but im panindian so they are too in my heart. bills human form is also native, in my heart he found solace and true admiration for the native communities he interacted with, and so he bases his apperance on multiple of them. his pants are ribbon pants, and his shawl is navajo inspired (i dont know much about Navajo culture so if thats wrong LMK!) he also has a braid because of course he has long hair and also do not worry, the pines family is still jewish, stan and ford are 1/2 ashkenazi jewish and 1/2 native in my headcannon, and dipper and mabel still practice jewish tradition and religious views alongside their native culture and ways of life

• The moment you're in immediate danger, Zussman’s heart races. Whether it’s an intense firefight or a close call, he finds himself charging into the fray to try and make sure you get out of there safe. He doesn’t always know why, but he just can't stand the thought of losing you. Even if he knows he can't always protect you.

• Makes sure you always have a med kit on you.

• Literally has more med kits on him than anything else for you and Daniels.

He clings to those memories, even when hope starts to dim, and wonders if, somehow, you know just how much you mean to him.

• When Zussman is finally freed, it’s a blur of chaos and adrenaline. At first, he doesn’t know if it’s real. He’s still dazed, his body bruised and exhausted, his mind can't tell if the gunshot and the blur of that bastard Metz collapsing was his imagination or not. But when you and Daniels rush to his side, followed by the rest, he hopes, the most he has, that it's real and not just some really fucked up dream he's having.

• In the hospital, Zussman struggles in more ways than one, not only with his physical recovery and the constant nightmares/mental toll but also with his emotions towards you. He’s grateful to be alive and that you survived too, but there's a feeling of discomfort in letting you see him like this, so different to who he started out as.

• Still, he leans on you more than he’ll ever admit during his recovery. Whether it’s helping him sit up, distracting him from the nightmares, or just sitting in comfortable silence, your presence makes all the difference, regardless if it feels weird at times.

• If you bring him anything while he’s in the hospital—whether it’s a book, a cigarette, or even just a cup of coffee—Zussman treasures it like it’s the most precious thing in the world, mostly because he realises how hard it must've been the sneak it past the skeptical eyes of the nurses.

He grew up in a household with only his mother and grandmother. His father left before he was born.

He grew up poor and it led to a lot of issues when he went to school. He would get bullied for both being too tall for his age and for having less than others.

This led to a lot of insecurities, especially about his looks. His nose was broken in middle school by a bully as he was trying to defend himself and it just never healed correctly.

He's always anxious. His heart feels like his heart is going to burst out of his chest. He feels like he's going to die at any time.

He's a brunette. Doesn't care too much about his hair. He kinda just does whatever feels right for the time being. There have been times when he forgets to cut his hair and it gets all the way past his shoulders. (This is not regulation in the military but his mother likes it so he tries to keep it long.)

His favorite season of the year is winter because he got to do things like celebrate the holidays that happened around that time.

His grandmother is Jewish but his mother stopped practicing around her adult years. They still did things like celebrate Hanukkah and light the menorah since his grandmother didn't have anyone other than him and his mother to celebrate with.

He found the flames captivating every time they would light the menorah. Something about the movement of the flames and the brightness of the light kept him entertained. Burned himself by accident because he once tried touching it as a child.

It fascinated him as did the lights his neighbors would hang on their homes to celebrate Christmas.

He never celebrated Christmas, this was mainly because his mother never had enough money to get him gifts like other parents.

He never believed in Santa Claus but he did wish he would have had that innocence to do so. Maybe it would have broken his heart as a child if he did since he wouldn't have gotten any of the things he would have asked for.

As he rented his teen years, his anxiety got worse and so did his depression. He was sick all the time. He's constantly trying to get better but he can't. The bullying got worse as he grew and he started resenting his long hair. (He forgets to take care of himself and his hair.)

Once he was old enough to enlist, he did so without any hesitation. His mother and grandmother tried convincing him to not do it but he wanted to help them get out of the poverty they were in. He wanted his family to have more in life even if it meant sacrificing his body, mind, and soul.

Enlisting was both a saving grace and a downturn in his life.

He finally had money to give to his family and he finally got to have a warm place to go back to but it wasn't home and the friendships he made felt superficial.

His mental health took a greater hit once he started taking on operations. He tried ignoring it and when it didn’t help he started to suffer from sudden panic attacks through the day. It felt like he was trapped in his own skin.

He had to go to therapy or he would be discharged from his position. He was out on medication and given weekly therapy sessions to ensure that he was making progress.

He finally got to celebrate Christmas with others but he still knew that under the communal Christmas tree was no present for him.

The more he worked and the older he got, the more he realized he wasn't sure he knew if this was it for him. He couldn't become a sniper and his only friend was an American he didn't really know all that well.

When he got offered a position at Kortac he was elated. He would gain more money and his talents would be out to use.

It meant he would have to renounce his Austrian citizenship. (He didn't need to though. Kortac took care of everything and he could freely enter the country with no issue.)

He made sure to fully repair the house his family lived in and buy the plot of land that was next to their own in order to expand the house and give his grandmother the garden she had once talked about fondly.

Kortac was an opportunity that he would forever be grateful for.

It gave him friends and allowed relationships to blossom he never thought he would have.

He and Horangi became friends and shared so much of their lives together. He finally had someone he could confide in when it came to his struggles with relationships or his feelings of not being enough.

He grew to look at himself as a victor and less as a wounded dog licking his own wounds.

He no longer winced when he looked at himself in the mirror.

The scar running over his cheek, the crookedness of his nose, the scruff on his cheeks, the grey in his hair, the crow's feet at the corner of his eyes.

Everything about him was now something he embraced.

And now when he gets to celebrate the holidays either at home or on the base, he takes his time to set up the tree and its lights, taking a moment to admire as the multicolored lights glow and shower the space with its joy.

He knows he has a gift under the tree for him and more once he gets home for his scheduled leave.

Once he starts dating he felt like he had to take care of himself more. He didn’t want to burden his partner so he tried developing healthier habits such as washing his face and trimming his hair.

It isn’t until he truly settled down with someone that he starts to let go of some do his insecurities.

He’s still on edge about his partner touching his scars but he’s more conflicted about his anxiety ruining things for him. He didn’t want to come off as possessive or insecure but his anxiety got the best do him at times.

Dreads getting into arguments with his partner. He doesn’t want to fight or argue since he knows that it might lead to something more serious happening.

Enjoys cuddling and holding his partner close. Will either sleep on top of his partner or use his partner as a weighted blanket.

He likes being reassured that he’s enough or that he’s handsome. It makes him blush but he likes hearing it.

this is a mix of headcannons and observations, so i hope that's what you were looking for! sorry it's a billion long i got Invested...

hal and barry for some reason, love to carry each other. they will pick each other up just whenever, barry usually carrying hal in a bridal grasp or hal carrying barry either like a potato sack or creating s construct to carry him. ollie judges them heavily, what freaks. (the first and last time barry tries to carry ollie when it's not necessary, it ends with him taking a solid hit to the crotch. hal will not stop laughing.)

ollie and hal both have leftover habits and trauma from poverty. when one of them sees the other with negative food behaviour, or accidental hoarding they don't say anything because they know they behave the exact same way. another holdover they have, is the stubborn pride that you HAVE to do it yourself. a pipe bursts or something: cue hal and ollie covered in water, apartment flooded, water damage everywhere but Fuck if they aren't going to figure out how to do this! they are outraged when they realised barry called a plumber.

i don't think they will ever get married in anyway, gonna be honest. hal and his commitment issues go brrr and ollie i think just Doesn't like marriage (roy had to get this opinion from somewhere, see below). the only way i ever see them getting married, is because barry wants to (fucking midwesterner), but even then i don't think he actually would want it that badly. i think that paired with the fact that not all of 3 of them can be married, that they just dont bother. paper is not needed to make your love anymore real.

ollie and barry at first, just get along for hal. like he is a child of divorce. i think they would start getting really close after a long mission. you know when you are just so bone tired you lose the will to fight? they are just lazing about, and someone says something that usually would start an argument and instead the other just laughs and it's history from there on. they still bicker and argue sure, but they both know it's playful.

another reason they might have to start getting along, is their kids! wally and roy are good friends and at the beginning, some of the only sidekicks. i think their initial dislike manifests in passive-agressive one upping each other. ollie buys the boys a full spread for dinner, barry takes them to europe to try authentic food. barry takes them out to a water park, ollie rents out a themepark for them. the boys probably encourage it, especially wally.

im not gonna start spewing roywally propaganda in this post, but just know that the parallels between them and ollie x barry have me in a deathgrip.

ollie is the Only cis person in this relationship. i hc barry as transmasc, and hal as either gnc or genderfluid. ollie's the diversity hire guys <3 (if you include dinah in this, she is also trans! its cannon dont @ me)

the first time there is ever a Proper Fight in the polycule, it's between hal and ollie. ollie's habit of calling people nazis and facists usually don't bother hal (he was in the army, he had to get over letting dumb insults bother him). but just at some point, he's having a Bad Day and he just loses it at ollie. logically he knows it's not targeted but calling the jewish guy a nazi just set him off. they are both too stubborn to break the silence after the fight, it takes barry dragging ollie like a misbehaving cat to hal's to apologise before they get over it. ollie is now very careful to censor himself like that around hal.

honestly if anyone wants me to expand on my thoughts on jewish hal, or transgender halbarryollie PLEASE ask. im a hairtrigger away at any given moment.

ollie and hal both LOVE boxing, they love going to matches and watching. at some point, they start trying to include barry and take him along to the fights. barry for the life of him Cannot enjoy this shit. somehow, at some point, they end up at a wwe match and they all become avid fans. date nights now include lazing on the couch with takeout and watching playbacks on tv.

barry runs so fucking hot, and ollie runs cold. leaving hal to fucking Despise sharing a bed with them. genuinely his worst nightmare. even the army was better than this. it is not uncommon to find hal on the floor asleep.

after hal's death, ollie doesn't cope with it very well. killing his bf fucks him up so greatly, he ends up really clinging to barry. barry also isn't handling well but he can't let himself fall apart, he needs to be there for ollie. they start living together basically full time, until one day barry's grief just builds up too much and he ends up saying something he regrets in the heat of an argument (probably something along the lines of blaming ollie for hal's death or he's only staying with ollie because of hal). ollie storms off and barry is just... Gutted. before they have time to reconcile, ollie dies. (if im getting my timelines wrong don't look at me, i will sob)

not a single one of these men have fashion taste. they all dress like the loser middle aged men they are. fucking fashion crimes against humanity! hal steals their clothes quite frequently, which is controversial considering he is the largest person out of the three of them and their shirts and stuff are definitely Too tight. (ollie and barry aren't complaining though, except for when they get their clothes back and they are so fucking stretched)

i love picturing them as cheerleaders. not like, in the actual getup, but just as them being the PROUDEST boyfriends. hal and barry bragging about how ollie is the best shot in the world (hes not but its fine :3), green arrow and lantern standing to the side on a mission and just watching flash adoringly because they know he doesn't need their help, ollie and barry smugly parading around hal like "yeah. this is my bf. hes so hot i know. he's so smart as well." none of them have any idea they are doing it though. they are gag worthy.

ollie's love language is gifts but not always monetary. more like making them food, taking them out places and stuff like that. its the thought and effort that goes into it, that's why does it. barry's is touch, this man LOVES hugs and draping himself over his bfs. hals is acts of service! he wants to help and just do whatever he can for them whenever possible. you could see that hal bases his selfworth off of how much he can do for others, which is so horrible and sad. so yknow. brainworms.

ollie's house accidentally becomes their usual meeting place, but only because he fucking HATES the zeta tubes. whenever he meets them anywhere, he will always whine about how they make him sick. barry does offer to pick him up, but it's a point of pride to him at this point, he can't just admit defeat to the zeta. barry and hal make a silent agreement to just meet him instead. (this was based off an actual comic panel, but i cannot for the Life of me remember which one).

none of them show up on time to dates. it actually becomes so incredibly common that when they miss them, no one takes offence anymore. cue one time where they all missed a date, and are sheepish around the others and keep trying to make it up to them. it takes 3 days before they realise that none of them were there.

Cal n Andre Halloween hcs to match the season 🎃🦇👻

Since Andre’s family is Jewish, growing up he was never allowed to celebrate Halloween. Any time that he would ask, his mother would lament about how they should have never moved to America where Halloween is so widely celebrated and so massively popular. Then, of course, she would scold him for wanting to do things that promote witchcraft, blah blah blah. Though, I imagine Andre’s father feeling a little bad and perhaps slipping the poor boy some (confirmed kosher) candy.

This idea, that Halloween was A. Not celebrated all over the planet and B. Was seen as “promoting witchcraft” by some was so outlandish to a young Cal.

I think one year, before the pair were old enough to nix the idea of trick or treating all together, probably the last year Cal himself would do it (in the desperate pursuit of cool), Andre would go with him. It was like his final gate into being completely American. Dressing up, probably as something edgy, grabbing a pillow case, and walking around neighborhoods begging for candy.

It’s ironic though, Andre didn’t really have any reason to go out and do it cause, at this age I think he lost his sweet tooth already. Though, it makes more for Cal, I think he has a shameful sweet tooth.

It’s a good memory for the both of them tho, Andre remembers coming back to the Gabriel family home and dumping out all his candy to sift through it. Cal’s siblings were in awe at the amount of candy they pulled in as a team. Their numbers in comparison were pathetic on account of Mrs. Gabriel demanding the kids come in earlier.

I think mrs Gabriel really enjoys helping her kids make costumes, whatever her kids demand she will supply. When cal was old enough to start asking for his own costume ideas, he always went as scary as he could. Blood drenched hair, big teeth, gashes, weapons. Whatever Cal’s mind could conjure as “the scariest costume ever” from the ages of 9 to 15.

Of course, that’s all as younger teens and children, as older boys, they do different things.

Call gets invited to the occasional party, usually on a good word by Rachel, and he attends for the most part. Always dipping out a little sooner than general populous but having a good time nonetheless. Usually he departs from these to go to Andres and comfort him about being the more socially ostracized out of the pair.

They’ll try to find some gorey ass snuff film to watch, get drunk, and steal some of the kids candy for Cal. I think they even get as “willing to have fun” as carving pumpkins, the results of those vary in level of skill and level of freakiness.

A cute idea is that one year, while they were too old to trick or treat but young enough to have some bones not made out of hate, they would bring Cal’s younger siblings into the basement for a little “haunted house” fun. Basically where Andre and Cal scared the shit out of them as much as possible. Be it, screaming in their face, grabbing them, whispering a spooookkkyyyy story before pouncing. If you go digging, there’s probably an old tape of it, Mrs. Gabriel will cherish that tape, that moment of innocence, of fun. I imagine there are many home videos like that, that she’ll watch on late nights after the tragedy.

I loooove expanding on the al Ghuls. IDK in both canon and fanon they're always exclusively villains with little nuance to them unless its the sole focus of a story arc. Even then, its pretty much only Ras and Talia that get their (deserved) due.

*pushing up my nerd glasses* which is why I have fun writing GRAVEYARD because I can yap about my al Ghuls headcanons left and right. For example, Melisande is primarily a French name. But since Talia's mother is often described as mixed Arab/Chinese, I figured I would look for why she would have a French name (other than the writer's decision, maybe they thought it was just pretty). I came up with this: Algeria has history of French usage through its colonization, so Melisande has a French first name but an Arabic middle name (Fadhma). Since she met Ras in Woodstock, she'd have to have been a teenager/young adult by then, and thus been raised in the 1950s/60s. I figured the connotations of Woodstock, her mixed heritage, the then-current state of Algeria etc, the 1969 oil spill in the US, she would have visited America with curiosity about the counter-culture. (how? idk that's why this still in the works) In my au,

Melisande already held views on nature and environmental protection before meeting Ras. Her views were fierce, but probably a little naive compared to Ras' own views. Nonetheless, they clicked intellectually, with Melisande debating theories and politics, which eventually led to their marriage. I don't think Melisande would've liked America (and obviously neither did Ras) so they did not stay there. I considered writing Melisande having Kayble Amazigh heritage to further fuel her desire for change and revolution and because Ras is implied to have Bedouin/Berber origins, but since I don't know much about those cultures beyond some research - I figured I shouldn't include it. Also, because Melisande died when Talia was young, so I don't think she'd have the time to impart a lot of her specific culture onto her daughter, adding to Talia's isolation/loneliness. Melisande is a mother who's killed in both of her iterations, I just wanted to add more significance to her connection with Talia. Something about meeting an intellectual and then being doomed, one way or another, to be absorbed into his mythos. She's a blip in Ras's history, not even his first wife or his first lover - but she's important to Talia.

Same kinda applied to Dusan. He's only in several comics as the White Ghost because Ras needed a new body. He's albino. He's extremely devoted to his father despite not receiving the same attention, and he was born to connect Ras to some lost culture or people. Dusan, to my knowledge is not an Arab name. From research, in some areas, its a Czech/Slovak/Serbian name. This is interesting to me since, besides Nyssa, it implies he's the only other non-Arabic member of the family. Nyssa (depends on translation, is either Greek or Hebrew, which makes sense considering she is Jewish) is of Russian descent. So in my hc, Dusan is of Slovak descent, connected to some fictional peoples. Considering Ras' history, Dusan's mother was probably connected to some type of specific science or magic culture that Ras wanted his hands on. He seems detached to Talia, despite being her brother, so my hc is that he's much older than her and so they don't have a connection in the way that Nyssa created between them. Because Ras was successfully able to transfer his mind/soul to Dusan's body in Resurrection, we can glean that Dusan might've had this magical connection too. Bringing Mara into this, we don't get a lot of content surrounding what her relationship w her father was. Still, my hc is that her red hair streak is actually dyed, and she has inherited her father's albinism but has yet to show it outside of her hair. Mara is also not an Arabic name. In Hebrew it means bitter, but my hc is that she nicknamed herself Mara. Besides Nyssa, I don't think any other member of the al Ghuls are Jewish - so Mara just took the meaning as a way to symbolize her bitterness over her father. Her full name was Maram, which means "wish" or "desire" in Arabic. Whether it was Dusan or her mother that named her this, I'm not fully sure yet but I think it'd be more heartbreaking if it was Dusan. Despite spending so long attached to his father's crusade, I think it'd be sad if for a moment - he had independence and happiness w Mara. Maybe he wanted a son, just as Ras wanted a son, but he once loved her just as fiercely as Talia loves Damian. But again, the al Ghuls are Ouroboros. They cannot ever break the family curse, so in the end, Dusan was once again driven to his father's side w fervor, his lover or wife left him, and Mara was left (as many in the family) alone.

erev rosh hashanah is almost apon us and as a jew, i want to drop some high holiday hc’s for the kazansky-mitchell-bradshaw household!

ice is ashkenazi jewish, wether it be russian or polish or whatever you want, he falls under being an ashkenazi jew. he’s also not religious, but he feels very strongly about customs and actively takes part in the high holidays.

when tom first brought the shofar out, pete and a very young bradley could not for the life of them work out why on earth tom owned a ram’s horn. it was only when tom gave a small tekiah blast (which had both pete and bradley jump into each other’s arms, which didn’t end up well) that they even realised it could make a noise.

contrary to popular belief, pete mitchell can cook. he just has both autism and adhd and so gets distracted and ends up burning everything. he loves to help tom cook the rosh hashanah meal, even though most of it he spends trying to kiss tom, who is frantically running around the kitchen trying to make it exactly how it was when he was growing up.

if bradley has school on erev/rosh hashanah, tom packs him a dinner full of sweet things. bradley likes to flex on his friends, as they’re all eating sandwiches and he’s digging into donuts and has a huge pot of honey for his apple.

pete loves to help tom build the sukkah. they don’t spend that much time in it together because of busy schedules and bradley’s schooling, but they try and have dinner together in it.

yom kippur is a holiday that tom likes to partake in by himself. it’s one of the few times in a year where he actually goes to a synagogue, and he uses it to reflect. bradley and pete don’t fast, but they sit and break tom’s own fast with him. (bagels!)

some of the first one on one time that tom spent with bradley was attending the annual simchat torah parade in san diego. it started a tradition for them that only stopped when bradley’s papers were pulled. after bradley reconnects with mav, he tries to with tom, and one of the ways he did that was inviting tom to attend the parade once more.

Kirk: Hes trans and pansexual (or bi I like both), that bitch loves to vouge its his favourite dance move hehe, kept the boob window shirt from amok time and wears it just to annoy Spock, is Jewish, (this one is more for AOS kirk but whatever) He LOVES 90s and early 2000s rap and hip hop such as the Beastie Boys.

Spock: Jewish on his mums side, is gay MLM or unlabelled (I like both hc), really likes ambient music and falls asleep to it and white noise.

Bones: Is bisexual (yeah no, no character in TOS is straight sorry) loveeees to sing country songs when no one is around or can hear him even while on duty (Kirk definitely caught him once singing and teased the living fuck out of him), he loves to wear low raise jeans (old man whore), he has anger problems, a chronic smoker (yes yes he's a doctor but come on...he needs to let off some steam man) loves old country music especially from 20th century Earth, a massive fan of Dolly Parton and sings her songs regularly (his singing voice isn't actually that bad either, quite soothing but slightly deep)

Chekov: bi-curious (NO SLAVIC PERSON IS TRULY STRAIGHT...coming from a slav hehe) weed smoker so he probably smells like kush 50% of the time, is eastern orthodox (religion wise) he absolutely adores late 20th century (80s-90s) Russian Post-Punk such as Кино and Nautilus Pompillus, he also listens to Bladee and the drain gang in general (idk man he just seems like the average drainer/Bladee fan) also uses She/Him pronouns...(or that's just me projecting myself onto him)
