Yeah, it sucks. Also, I'm aware this isn't the point, but I want to remind people that Firefox for android allows you to use the Ublock Origin extension. If you're looking for a way to block ads on YouTube. You have to use Firefox and not the YouTube app but eh. I'm of the opinion that not everything HAS to be an app when browsers are ubiquitous and often use the most up-to-date configuration ANYWAY. As for every app on the phone and computer and so on?
I hate it here.
I do not feel like buying your product because you shove it onto every program on my personal devices.
I do not feel like buying your product because you put it everywhere including the self service screens at the gas station
STOP SHOVING ADS EVERYWHERE IN MY FRICKING LIFE!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IT HAS THE INVERSE EFFECT ON THE PEOPLE YOU'RE MARKETING TO!!!!
Do we seriously have to skip both ads on YouTube now. Like we press skip on the first then we have to wait five more seconds to press skip on the second. Are you actually fucking kidding me
#Fun fact. I took Marketing in college.#I have an Associates in Science in Business Management.#And boy let me tell you.#When you keep badgering a customer so much about a product? They tend to be less interested.#Because you've annoyed the customer#They're going to either not buy the product. Or they're going to switch to a less agitating competitor.#I have no idea WHY we're in this hellscape when that's business 101- not to push away the people you're selling to#All these ads? Doing just that.

i’m having a lot of fun with this :) i’m kind of just doing main side characters and ones i have a good idea for, but if you have a request, feel free to send a reply or ask!
oikawa - …spanish major with latin american & caribbean studies minor. sue me
iwaizumi - easy easy easy mr. iwaizumi hajime (27) athletic trainer is pre-med track biology major and i stand by that
kenma - easy this kid is computer science to a t, but he also minors in business administration (influence of kuroo)
kuroo - business administration with minors in chemistry (can’t disappoint everyone’s fanon career for him as a chemist) and media & communications (he is a sports promoter after all)
fukunaga - look did i just put him in here to say that he’d be part of one of the many comedy groups on my campus? yes absolutely. theater major.
bokuto - not even furudate knows what he went to college for, so i get to go a little crazy with this one. i like to believe he’s on the education track and majoring in english & creative writing. he’d be everyone’s favorite english teacher in high school.
akaashi - similar path as bokuto major in english & creative writing, with the complementary english literatures major or minor
konoha - hehe public health and chemistry major, looking to get his graduate degree in medical leadership (my pharmaceutical boy) he will also most likely go to pharmacology school post-grad
ushijima - he’s the rare student with only one major and one major only: environmental science.
tendou - hot take, but a chemistry major with a theater minor
semi - he is a musician, so i will give him our music major, but he is also a civil servant (yall ignore that a lot), so i give him political science or political economy & public policy
aone - physical science major with either a project management or supply chain management accelerated program worked in
futakuchi - there’s definitely sustainability studies in there, but interestingly, i’d also add physics
koganegawa - i’d say physical science major as part of the dual degree engineering program, adding in the innovation and entrepreneurship minor
kita - most definitely an environmental science and sustainability studies major with a religion studies minor :) (yes i know he specifically says he doesn’t really believe in the gods, but i can’t help but associate him with religion…) i think he’d also be interested in my college’s abroad trip to japan, which focuses on ecology and religion in japan (i really want to go on this trip…)
osamu - easy. business administration.
atsumu - maybe an interesting take, but i’d say psychology. the amount of psychological warfare he tries to use i think is enough explanation.
that’s all for now! let me know if there are more characters you’d like to know about ! i’m having a lot of fun with this so please send in requests 🙏

[“Changes in the industrial base of capitalism in the 1970s only served to expand psy-professional practice still further. As the manufacturing sector was replaced in economic significance by growth in the service industries, changing skills were required within the labour force. Traditional manual labour was declining while there was a burgeoning skills gap within white collar occupations. Thus, the labour force was put under increasing pressure to “adapt” and “upskill” to meet the needs of the changing marketplace.
The new aptitudes required by employers included social skills, problem-solving skills, independent and team working, a flexible approach to work, as well as workers ready to further upskill. In the future, people would have to demonstrate high levels of “employability” within their jobs and what Elraz (2013: 810) calls a “sellable self” which will be, “associated with the constant expectation to perform, manage-impression, self-promote and ‘sell’ oneself as an attractive product: with no ‘faults’, ‘weaknesses’ or ‘limitations’, always ready to be, and do ‘more’.”
This “new subjectivity of work” (Rose 1999: 106) has meant that the individual worker has become a key site for psy-professional intervention in neoliberal society. I experienced one example of this intervention at first-hand when I was employed at a Training and Enterprise Council in England in the early 1990s. Both employees and our unemployed “clients” were offered the chance to undertake taxpayer-funded neurolinguistic programming, a business-orientated form of neurocognitive therapy. The presence of this “training initiative” is a small demonstration of the successful creep of the psychological sciences into the work environment over this period—those to be re-skilled learnt in these sessions that the way to real, long-lasting, and personally satisfying success was to examine their own weaknesses and confront their personal barriers to achieving a job. The discourse of neurolinguistic programming fitted perfectly with the dominant notions of the sellable self, where success in employment was intrinsically tied to the self-actualisation of the person; an increasing need within neoliberal capitalism to “work on the ego of the worker” (Rose 1999: 113).”]

micah, cleet and whatever the hell is his name can kiss my ass
~~
As stated before, Dutch and Hosea raised Tilly, John and Arthur...meaning they bought a house and lived together. (not in a gay couple way. in a friend way /hj)
They still live together despite the kids being grown up. Tilly and John live with them. But Arthur lives on his own.
Dutch and Colm are neighbors. And are rivals in this AU. They often make snarky comments about one another and give glares.
Arthur enjoys being friends with Charles Châtenay, Albert Manson and Algerson Wasp...even though theyre a little erratic. He feels comfortable being around creative people like him c:
Tilly has a crush on Javier. The other girls tease her about it. Arthur knows about it too and will bring it up if he wants to antagonize her (canon btw)
Marybeth and Kieran both have feelings for each other. Tilly and Karen both gag whenever she talks about Kieran. They dont like him because Kieran is associated with Colm.
Lenny has a crush on Jenny :) (i dont want her to die in this au :(...so why not make her live? I dont have much information on her tho.
Arthur's son Isaac is very much alive. (yippee!) so is his mother, Eliza. The two live in a different state but they're doing well, Arthur visits them once a month and always comes for holidays and Isaac's birthday.
Sadie and Jake live happily together too c: Sadie works at a shooting range. Arthur and John visit the range often to blow off some steam or just to bond together with Sadie.
Arthur dislikes how John acts with Abigail and Jack, he tries his best to talk to him about stepping up to be a father but John is a little hard-headed...
FUCK IT EVERYONE IS HAPPY IN THIS ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE

what smiling friends characters would major in (this is impromptu i had a vision)
glep: he wouldn't go to college, but if he did, he would either major in some absurdly hard stem subject (i'm thinking like astrophysics or something) or business with a minor in political science. absolutely no in-between.
mr. boss: ok so like the obvious choice here would be business management or something but here me out... bfa in musical theatre. i MAY be projecting but the way he acts is so theatrical to me i think he would be really good at it. or at the very least he would have a theatre minor or have done a class or two!!!!
allan red: i think he would be an english major... he gives off the vibes of one. if he had to minor in something then maybe business??? or technical and professional writing minor he would definitely take a couple classes like that
charlie dompler: two options for this freak. 1 - he didn't go to college bc he thinks its a scam and would rather not pay off a couple years of school. 2 - he would be working towards a b.s. or associates in computer science
pim pimling: he definitely is a psychology major u can just smell it on him. very specifically he would like early childhood psychology just because he finds it interesting and he loves kids. he would definitely minor in a foreign language too (probably spamish or something?????)
#maybe mr. boss would be a double major in theatre and business#maybe#i'm exposing the fact that i'm in college rn#can u guess my major (hard)#(it's art and theatre).....#smiling friends#smiling friends headcanons#is it too late to post#idk#smiling friends charlie#smiling friends glep#smiling friends mr boss#smiling friends allan#smiling friends pim

Alright I'm aimed at the whiteboard of an unrelated lecture hall the way I'm about to be projecting
Warriors: bitches about how much he hates chemistry. Is a chem major. This surprises people and then he gets to senior level classes and is like "oh I learned how to make meth four different ways and also how to make a pipe bomb" and it makes sense bc forensic science. Alternative to him being a cop cause acab
Wild and Wild started political major then switched to rec management and worked there as a park ranger/trip guide. Then he got a phd in some very niche history specialization bc Flora informed enough for him to basically test out of an entire other undergrad degree.
Hyrule: also switched to rec management from nursing. Theydo their assignments together and those are things like: go camping, catch bugs. Wild works at the university climbing wall, and Hyrule works in the first aid tent at uni events
Legend: undecided for a while, fashion major, switched to political science but was way too far into fashion to NOT have that be his minor. When he switched, Wild gave Leg his notes. They were not helpful.
Sky: didn't go to uni bc he went to flight school. Paying the same as their tuition for lessons, but he's got a guaranteed job and fucking excellent pay lined up.
Time: got an associates in art at a community college, met Malon, and then decided to live his best stardew valley life and we love that for him.
Wind: hear me out: scuba diver/submarine operator investigating shipwrecks. This I feel is trade school more than university but college isn't needed for every field. He'd work at ocean gate for like 2 days before seeing their shady business practices and even sharper and moping the fuck out.
Twilight: went to a trade school to be a mechanic as his day job and the reason barrel racing isn't an Olympic sport is bc there's no point when Twi will win until the day he or Epona dies
Four: so many majors he cant keep track of his sophomore year his advisor got fed up and made him pick four. Literature and criminal justice became minors, music and engineering are majors.
OOOOOOOOH I REALLY LIKE ALL OF THESE
Wars: I LIKE THIS, THATS VERY COOL. i have a lot of thoughts about potential majors for him because there’s literally just so much to do with him, depending on the au i’ve made him a political science/history major with the intent to become a lawyer, i’ve made him an engineer (for a big hero six au), fashion, and a dance major. I like the chem to forensic science thing thats VERY cool :)
Wild: PERFECT NO NOTES.
Hyrule: PERFECT. NO NOTES. whatever he ends up doing it involves being outside and exploring or discovering things >:)
Legend: I HAVE HIM AS A POLITICAL SCIENCE MAJOR IN MOST MODERN AUS TOO (except the big hero 6 one because, like wars, he’s an engineer)
Sky: PERFECT. I LOVE IT
Time: HIS BEST STARDEW VALLEY LIFE ALSKDKKS YES
Wind: I LOVE IT. ive had him interested in marine biology before :)
Twilight: OOOOOOOOOOOOOH YES
Four: he’s definitely any advisors worst nightmare alskdkdslkskd

*sitting cross legged on your floor and hands you a cup of tea*
The ghouls working in agriculture/farm and ranch supply
Mountain is your seed agronomist/soil sciences expert. He's gonna tell you exactly what type of grass mix you want and when to plant it. You want to plant orchard grass in a fast draining sandy soil? No ma'am you need something hardier than that.
Dew and Swiss are in the back working the loading bay and the forklifts. Dew got teased and shit on for being so small and not being strong enough until he loaded an entire trailer bed with alfalfa bales by hand.
Rain is your irrigation expert. He can definitely tell you if you need center pivot irrigation or if you can get away with wheel lines. For the love of God, don't talk to him about over watering your lawn. Conserve water dammit!
Phantom is the new associate they put in charge of the rabbits, ducks and chicks during Chick Days. He's so sweet with them but he's had to be told multiple times that no, the kids cannot reach in to hold the animals.
Aether is in charge of the animal husbandry/veterinary supply section. He also helps with the quarterly spay/neuter pop up clinics that they host in the store.
Cumulus and Sunshine are in charge of the clothing section. They can tell you for sure what brands are more affordable but still just has sturdy as Carhartt. And no, that cut of boot cut jeans does not work for your body shape but we will find you something that makes you feel great and your ass look fabulous.
Aurora is in charge of the nursery section. Her plants are the healthiest and come with a life guarantee. She and Mountain work...very close together.
Cirrus is the store manager. She's fair, she runs a tight ship, but you better be respectful to her employees or she will ban your ass.
*takes the tea and slides you a plate of pastries*
Dew getting teased/people not thinking he's strong enough to do his job is highkey relatable, but also him hauling ass and getting shit done is very satisfying. (I have The Ballad of Smokin' Joe Rudeboy by Tom Cardy stuck in my head, and you just have to imagine Dew flipping Swiss off on the truck.)
He's probably also had to answer the question, "Is this first cut or second cut hay?" but no one has told him, and, hell, it could be third cut his late in the season-
His intuits it, and he's always right.
Also the image of Aether helping with the pop up clinics; How many times has he looked at the other guys passing by and joked, "That one's not up on his rabies shot, so look out!" and it's Mountain, who's busy carrying flowerpots, so he nudges Aurora to flip him off for him.
I feel like they all wind up dirty somehow, it just happens, but it's a gradient of filth.
On that note, today's one of my long day at the barn; It's seed restock day.

I'd rather be called a TERF than be someone who is ok with TQ+ organizations dedicated to minors without the commonsense approach of vetting the adults in the organizations or someone who pushes TQ+ studies without caring that the author is a pedo.
By Genevieve Gluck April 16, 2024
A gay couple who co-founded a Swiss LGBTQIA+ youth organization are being investigated by the public prosecutor after sexually exploiting two teenagers who were in their care. The men had created locations for their youth group, Sozialwerk.LGBT+, for children aged 13 and up in the city of Chur and in the municipality of Buchs, Switzerland.
While their identities were concealed by the press in Switzerland, Reduxx is naming the men involved as Holger Niggemann and his husband, Björn.
Holger, 42, is alleged to have had sexual contact with two 17-year-olds who had sought help for bullying with the organization. Holger was a board member of the group at the time, while his husband Björn was the business manager. The two men are said to have had a three-way sexual relationship with one of the teens, a 17-year old boy, according to a report by Tages-Anzeiger.
Numerous documents substantiate what happened in the group, including text messages, emails and voice messages, reports Tages-Anzeiger. Founded in 2020, Sozialwerk.LGBT has received public funding to set up facilities for at-risk youth as young as 13 who believe they are LGBT+.
During an investigation into the allegations, local media spoke to fifteen people close to the group to check the veracity of the allegations. The majority of those who came forward decided to remain anonymous.
One exception is Daniel Huber, a former board member of the association, who, with one other board member, reported the couple to public prosecutor Annina Grob, co-director of Avenir Social, the professional association for social work in Switzerland.
“For us, the behavior of the two is a total abuse of power, and the young people also felt that way. I brought it up again and again,” said Huber, who attended the meetings as a teenager before joining the board in a leadership role. “It is important not to look away from such behavior.”
According to statements from anonymous sources, the Niggemanns also took the 17 year-old boy on vacation to Germany with them.

Reduxx can reveal that a Dutch-American academic with a history of advocating for the normalization of adult-child sexual relationships has had a working relationship with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Theodore Sandfort’s research has been presented at the organization’s symposium as recently as 2016.
Sandfort, a Columbia-affiliated academic and LGBT activist, previously worked with self-declared pedophiles in the Netherlands, documenting adult men’s sexual abuse of boys as evidence to support his theory that adult-child relationships are “predominantly positive.”
Prior to relocating to Columbia University, Sandfort received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He was also the Chairman of the Interfaculty Department of Lesbian and Gay Studies at Utrecht University and Director of the Research Program “Diversity, Lifestyles and Health” at the Netherlands Institute of Social Sexological Research.
A faculty member at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health, Sandfort has also been employed as a Professor of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences, and worked at the university’s HIV Center alongside former WPATH president and Director of the institution’s Gender Identity Program, Walter Bockting. Like Sandfort, Bockting relocated to Columbia University from the Netherlands, having completed his doctoral degree in psychology from the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam.
Bockting and Sandfort also worked together in a professional capacity while acting as members of the editorial board for the academic journal Psychology and Sexuality in 2015.
The following year, in 2016, research co-authored by Sandfort was presented at a WPATH symposium in Amsterdam.
The paper, titled “Gender nonconformity and peer victimization: Sexual attraction and gender differences by age,” focused on the experiences of Dutch same-sex attracted adolescents aged 11 to 18. The study concluded that gender non-conforming youth were bullied by their peers, leading Sandfort and his colleagues to recommend that “key educational messages that address sexual and gender diversity should be delivered during childhood before early adolescence.”
However, Sandfort’s prior work dealt with sympathetic portrayals of pedophilic relationships between adult men and adolescent boys. In recent years, he has also had access to vulnerable youth in New York City’s foster care system, and, in 2020, he was dismissed from this position when his troubling research history dealing with the sexuality of children came to light.
In 1983, Sandfort authored an article for Youth and Society (Jeugd en Samenleving) titled “Erotic moments in working with children,” a small-scale study of sexual desires among five adult group leaders for the children in their care.
The men described deriving sexual pleasure from working with children, specifically when exercising together, bathing the children, or holding them on their laps. One man, identified as “Lex,” spoke of being aroused while “tickling” children aged “2 or 3,” wearing only his underwear, and proceeding to touch the toddlers’ genitals.

i'm struggling with what i wanna do in grad school...
and i was just gonna tag rant but yk what i'll put it in the post
i'm in my senior year of my bachelor's program in information systems (business + computer science = where dreams go to die) because apparently the degree will be useful for the next year or two until the inevitable AI takeover (itsfineitsfineitsfine)
i always thought i would go into grad school for library science and be a librarian, but the farther along i get in school, the more my options look...bleak. i've applied to my local library maybe half a dozen times and got one interview that i thought went well, though they didn't hire me (i think they had someone else in mind already). most people in the field say it took years of volunteer work, networking, and endless credits just to get their foot in the door. although my research says the field is not dying (it's just highly competitive), it feels like i would be screwing myself over if i got this degree.
really, i just want a job associated with fiction, something fun. i would be happy working in a library, managing the system & organizing events & talking about books with students. i would be happy being a creative writing teacher. I would be happy working in publishing, maybe reading over manuscripts or editing. i'd even be happy working on a movie set, if that's in writing or something else to bring a fictional world to life.
i have to decide something quick, because i graduate in may. i wanted to get my master's at the cheapest online school [redacted]. i thought i could maybe do a dual degree program for library science and english teaching or something. my parents want me to use my college money (both through them and my acedemic scholarships), to go to a different school [redacted], that costs twice as much for the same online degree because the reputation is better and it might lead to better networking opportunities.
my worry is just that no matter how many credits i need, i will always be short something. i'll have to go back to school for education or something else. and this isn't a situation where i get the job and they pay for me to go back to school--it would be like they don't hire me, and i have to pay to go back to school anyways because i won't have a chance at even getting another job interview otherwise.
i just don't know what to do, and i'm scared. i'm wondering what degree to do, what route to take that won't just make me happy, but will also get me a job at the end of the day. i keep seeing all these things about unemployment, the housing market, the job market, how hard everything is and i feel like i'm speeding until i crash into a wall. i haven't done any internships, all of my job experience is in food and retail and i'm terrified that's where i'm gonna stay for the rest of my life (no offense to anyone working those jobs, obv from this post you can tell it's virtually impossible to work anywhere else so like i get it).
i know i need to do my research and email the different schools and figure things out, it's just a really hard situation to work through.
if anyone has any advice or take on this situation at all, i would really appreciate it. i just feel really lost

hello, hero! for anna ryder and rose cousland, could i know these: 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 21, 23, 25!!
Anna Ryder
4) What color or colors do you most associate with your OC?
Maroon, Amber, Blue, Purple
5) Any animals you most associate with your OC?
Not really. Anna isn't much of a pet person, Alliance life didn't really allow for one and even before that her parents were too busy to take care of a pet plus twins. In Andromeda Scott gets a pyjack and Anna finds it somewhat cute.
6) Any flowers you associate with your OC?
Queen Anne's Lace, Daffodils, Dandelions
7) Does your OC have a favorite and least favorite food?
Anna doesn't care for winter squashes, she doesn't like the texture. Her favorite is anything noodles, easy to carry in a bowl/eat while trying to catch up on reports/etc
11) What actor or voice actor do you see best playing as your OC?
I haven't really given this much thought for Anna only because I mainly use her CC when getting fanart created. That being said, I could see Agam Darshi being a faceclaim for Anna.
21) Any embarrassing secrets your OC demands you take to the grave but you will share anyway?
Her first time snowboarding, she had a hard time finding her balance and went ass over teakettle right in front of a girl she was crushing on. Face full of powder, Anna managed to get up without too much trouble but that ended up having the girl ask if she was alright and Anna managing to flirt (somewhat) successfully with her. They ended up going out on a few dates so it worked out in the end.
Then when the Tempest first landed on Aya she was so excited to explore that she tripped over her own feet and nearly ate grass. But she managed to right herself and endured the jokes from the crew, brushing it off with a crack of her own.
23) Is your OC religious and what religion? If it’s a fictional religion for your story please give a summary of the core teachings of their faith?
Not really. Alec and Ellen weren't super religious, their mom more because of her science background and Alec just because, so they never really encouraged it with Scott and Anna. They did try to teach them to be nice but firm, to stand up for what was wrong but also be kind, and to help those in need though.
25) The name you chose for your OC, why did you chose it?
I wanted something that I could shorten, that Anna would only be called when she was in trouble (which ended up being A Lot). At the time I was reading War Storm by Victoria Aveyard where one of the characters has the nickname 'Nanabel' and that stuck with me so I decided to go in that direction and came up with Annabel, eventually deciding that she had a vague US Southern/Hispanic background.
Rose Cousland
4) What color or colors do you most associate with your OC?
Black, Silver, Dark Blue
5) Any animals you most associate with your OC?
Her mabari Griffins. She's had Griffins since he was a puppy and wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't in her life. She dares anyone to tell her that she can't have a Marbari in the castle.
6) Any flowers you associate with your OC?
Roses obliviously :P but also sunflowers and snow drops.
7) Does your OC have a favorite and least favorite food?
Rose is a fan of bread, especially if it's fresh from the oven. Also once Zevran introduces her to Antivan dishes, she's a big fan of the spices. Doesn't really care for "travel rations" (aka hardtack & cheese) but knows that when they're on the road there's not much choice.
11) What actor or voice actor do you see best playing as your OC?
I've fancasted Gemma Arterton as Rose, specifically from Hansel & Gretel: Witchhunters because she had the vibe I was looking for in the movie (but with redder hair).
21) Any embarrassing secrets your OC demands you take to the grave but you will share anyway?
Rose is somewhat afraid of the dark, she needs a candle burning in her room once the sun starts setting and can't fall asleep if it's completely dark.
23) Is your OC religious and what religion? If it’s a fictional religion for your story please give a summary of the core teachings of their faith?
Rose had to sit through Chantry services while at Highever, it was expected of her as the Teryn's daughter, and only loosely followed the teachings of the church. Then Highever got razed and she turned her back on Andraste and the Chantry, angry and confused at how she could let that happen since her parents had been devout followers of Andraste. She doesn't belittle Leliana for her beliefs, but at the same time she doesn't try to go back to the Chantry and the Maker.
Once she becomes Queen, Rose knows that she has to at least attend one service a week, but at the same time she tries to find an excuse not to go if she can help it.
25) The name you chose for your OC, why did you chose it?
This was before I fully fleshed out my Cousland Warden and wanted to just jump into the game. A friend on here had been talking about Titanic/Doctor Who and Rose so that was at the forefront of my mind so I went with that.
#anderfels#rose cousland#annabel ryder#ask meme#mass effect#dragon age origins#sorry for the delay#these were good questions though!

Coming Soon -- Elphick Equine Institute
hello!! I've been letting ts4 horse servers know about this, but wanted to come on here as well.
I am starting an RRP club based around an equine college that hosts several disciplines and several majors. I'm working on its discord server now, but I want to give as many people a chance to join as possible.
Here's the college crest and the intro message I've been using! I'll be posting a discord link when it's ready!
Come join Elphick Equine Institute! We boast a sprawling campus geared to make any equestrian's dreams come true. We offer majors in Equine Business Management, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Equestrian Studies--English Concentration, Equestrian Studies--Western Concentration, Equine Science, Equine Performance and Rehabilitation, and Therapeutic Horsemanship.
Students may bring their own horses (limit two) to college or take advantage of our many skilled lesson horses. Students will have scheduled barn and ride time daily, chores to complete, and plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning.
Elphick Equine Institute is proud to offer specializations in the following disciplines: Dressage, Eventing, Hunter/Jumper, Reining, Roping, and Western Dressage. All disciplines have the opportunity to attend horse shows and we also boast an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team. Each discipline has renowned lesson instructors and students may run to be Team Captain of their discipline. Students may participate in all disciplines but are encouraged to specialize in one or two.
We are proud to host two luxury barns able to hold [estimate right now as I'm still building lots] 180 horses between them. Lavish turnout is provided--horses come in to their stalls at night or for inclement weather and are otherwise outside.
Elphick Equine Institute has a thriving social and campus life. We host for-fun shows like our annual Halloween Haunt Horse Show, semester-opening and closing barn parties, and riding events like broom polo and gymkhana.
We are thrilled to open our doors to the community and excited to have you!

Meet The Woman Who Made Polaroid Into A Cultural Icon
Meroë Marston Morse, an Art History Undergraduate, Led and Transformed the Camera Company into a Brand Beloved by Photographers to This Day.
— By David M. Barreda | March 27, 2024
Meroë Marston Morse joined Polaroid just weeks after graduating from Smith College—and quickly rose to become one of the iconic company's most visionary leaders. She's seen here in a test photograph taken by Polaroid laboratory staff in the 1940s. Polaroid Corporation Records, Baker Library, Harvard Business School
Polaroid. The Tconic Camera brought photography into the hands of millions beginning in the 1940s. It made anyone a photographer with a push of a button, developing the pictures right in front of your eyes.
At a time when camera innovation was led almost exclusively by men, Polaroid was different in another way too: During her relatively short time at the company, a young art history grad named Meroë Marston Morse was one of Polaroid’s most important visionaries, ultimately rising to be director of the Special Photographic Research Division with 18 patents to her name.
As a senior photo editor at National Geographic, I have had a lifelong love for photography. Since I was a child, I remember watching family members use Polaroids to record the mundane moments of a vacation, while I used a Nikon camera with 35mm film. But when a photographer friend later showed me how to use a toothpick to push the dyes of a Polaroid that was mid-development—resulting in a more painterly, more impressionistic final image—I became a fan.
I know a fair bit about Polaroid and its founder, Edwin Land. But when I read Morse’s name for the first time recently, I was intrigued to learn more about role she played during her two decades there.
A New Kind of Camera Company
Morse joined Polaroid in 1945 just weeks after graduating from Smith College, having studied art history with Clarence Kennedy. A friend and associate of Edwin Land, Kennedy often recommended his best students to work at the camera company.

For Land, Morse became “a soul mate, a work mate, and a protector,” writes Victor K. McElheny in his biography of Edwin Land, Insisting on the Impossible. Morse was a natural to the Polaroid method, which McElheny quotes one of the company’s inventors as saying was, “to propose the hypothesis, to test the hypothesis, to modify the hypothesis, to test with another experiment—a sequential train moving at high speed, several hypotheses and experiments per hour.”
A few short months after her arrival, Morse was managing the black-and-white film division, where she led her team through round-the-clock shifts to transition the company away from monochromatic sepia prints to truly black and white Polaroid films.
The process was full of challenges. Not only did the crystals in the darkest areas of a print become reflective, but the paper they used collected fingerprints easily. Perhaps worst of all, some of the prints would fade after a few months. Chris Bonanos, whose book Instant documents the camera company’s history, writes that Land called the creation of black-and-white film “among the toughest things Polaroid ever pulled off.”
And Morse was at the center of it all, former Polaroid employees John and Mary McCann told me on a recent call. Morse’s team would analyze tiny incremental variances from a standard exposure Mary said, and Morse herself “had an eye for these differences” thanks to her art history training. “She and Land built it from the first experiments in the lab, all the way through the billion-dollars-worth of film they sold,” John adds.
A Marriage of Science and Art
John McCann tells me his time at Polaroid reminded him of the Renaissance, when “the best scientists were the best painters, and they did everything.” Artists at Polaroid were integral to science and experimentation, and their perspectives were as important as those of trained chemists.
Within Morse’s lab, there was a strong dedication to making technology to suit artists. She served as the liaison between scientists and the photographers who consulted for the companies—building relationships with fine art photographer Minor White, color art photography pioneer Marie Cosindas, and landscape photographer Ansel Adams.
Photographer Ansel Adams consulted with Polaroid in various capacities. In a letter to Morse in 1953, he complained about the company’s ads, which he said had, “served to place emphasis on the casual, amateur use of the camera and process which has, I think, minimized the more important aspects. Most people think of it as a semi-toy.” Photograph By Emmanuel Dunand, AFP/Getty Images
Adams was already a well-established, large-format, black-and-white photographer by the time he began to consult for Polaroid in 1948. His image, Monolith, the Face of Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, made in 1927, had landed him on the photography map. Yet Adams was very interested in Polaroid’s technology, particularly the cameras and the black-and-white film that Morse was developing. The two were in nearly constant contact.
Adams helped establish a process that photographers in the field used for feedback long before the advent of the digital camera: He would take a Polaroid to test the composition and exposure of an image before making a final image on the negative.
Legacy
Morse died from cancer in 1969 at the age of 46, before Polaroid had expanded into a global brand and cultural touch point, before the toy camera craze had peaked, and long before Polaroid filed for bankruptcy in 2001.
In a companywide memo announcing her passing, Polaroid executive Richard Young wrote, “To those who knew and loved Meroe, our lives were enriched and enlarged. Her kindness, concern and interest in everyone were exceeded by her generosity.”
By the 1970s and 80s, other camera companies started to emulate Polaroid’s point-and-shoot approach and aesthetic. In the late 2000s, photographers around the world went into mourning when the last Polaroid films hit their expiration dates after the company’s bankruptcy.
"9-Part Self Portrait," a collage of large-format Polapan prints by artist Chuck Close, is displayed at Sotheby's during a preview of The Polaroid Collection, a collection of fine art photographs that Land launched in the 1940s. Morse was key to building the company's relationships with artists in the collection. Photograph By Emmanuel Dunand, AFP/Getty Images
But in early 2008, as the last factories were winding down, Polaroid enthusiasts Florian ‘Doc’ Kaps and André Bosman raised over half a million dollars to rescue the factories, the film, and most importantly the chemistry knowledge of the company—and eventually they brought Polaroid film back to market.
Today, in a photography world where digital is king, the spirit that Morse and others brought to the company still lives on for photographers everywhere.

South Park characters college/university majors head cannons
Stan - he would either not go to college at all, and try to purse a career in music by playing at dive bars & gigs, OR he go into college probably undecided then major in veterinary science or marine biology but then realizes it’s not just loving on animals all day so he’ll drop out & go back to music but still volunteers at the humane society & has like a bunch of pets.
Kyle - pre law with entertainment business minor, wants to work in entertainment/film but was too scared to major in film out right, but is in the film club, and makes movies with them all the time. He’s also in SGA, and fights the board of trustees to give the arts more funding.
Cartman- He went to college for a semester majored in business but then flunked out but still tells people he has a degree, bc he “knows how to run a business” and works as a sleazy used car salesman, has to skip town a lot to avoid the fuzz.
Kenny - he goes into the military to afford college, and once he gets there he majors in finance & accounting so he can afford to care for his siblings. He went into the Air Force, because wanted to learn how to fly a plane lol.
Butters - Business & then gets his MBA, and starts up some sort of pyramid scheme. Think like Cutco Knives (iykyk) OR he majors in elementary ed, and minors in psychology to be a counselor at South Park Elementary. He tried to rush a frat, but wouldn’t make it past pledging.
Tweek- Double majoring in music and education, and technically says he is minoring in business just so his parents are happy but he really isn’t. He wants to become a music teacher. I think he’s in a music frat and takes Craig to their formals & date parties.
Craig - Mechanical Engineering for undergrad and then goes to get his masters in aerospace engineering, wants to build rockets and shit for NASA. He is so swapped with assignments, he practically lives in the library, he rlly doesn’t have time for clubs or greek life, so he just studies and when he isn’t studying he’s with Tweek or sleeping , when he parties which is rare, he almost always gets blacked out drunk. Everytime.
Tolkien - pre law with a minor in sport’s management, wants to become a sports agent. He’s in a frat but isn’t a total douche bag abt it, and in SGA with Kyle, overall really popular. Still plays bass and jams out with Stan from time to time. Ideal golden child college experience.
Jimmy - Acting, but drops out and moved to LA to pursue his comedy career. He liked college but decided it was a waste of money. When he could be getting more a real life experience. Still will go a frat party though
Clyde - Physical Education, he didn’t get any sports scholarships and decided that this was the best career route for him, he also ends up working at South Park elementary. He is a BIG frat guy lol, parties everyday. He is trying to get Craig to rush his frat. He is failing at this task.
Wendy - Pre Med with a minor in psychology, wants to be a children’s psychiatrist, and she SLAYS. She also joins a sorority but in an Elle Woods sort of way. I feel like she did her residency in San Francisco, and then sort of adapted that as her full personality.
Bebe - Journalism, wants a to be a news anchor. She is ur classic sorority girl, probably president, it’s giving Chanel vibes from Scream Queens but she way nicer, but will cut a bitch to further her career.
SGA = Student Government Association ( for my high school & Non American friends )
I’m currently in undergrad so these head-cannons are straight from my real life ahaha

grown up dwk headcanons ...
- Deniz works as some form of sports manager, it combines his love of sports with his need for stability. Unlike soccer players, he is not at the whim of higher ups who control his career/buy him for their teams. He has a lot of nice cars and is happily married (i think he is cheesy af in his romantic relationships)
Leon might do something manager-ish as well, maybe it is event-related. He likes bossing ppl in his office around. I do think it took him a while to find his path tho. And he is single bc he needs to work on himself first.
- Vanessa is the hot wlw gym teacher every school needs. All the girls have a crush on her. She also teaches English but it is not her passion. Regularly curses in front of students.
Marlon is an art + social studies teacher. VERY popular with the student body. I like the idea that he is a kids' soccer coach in his free time. He is very keen on keeping his private life secret from his students (just like we never find stuff out about him in the show), but he is in a long term commited relationship. (Marlon x Vanessa would be funny for this in a "wait you guys are dating???" way, Marlon x Kong would be hilarious for the "Mr. Wessel's boyfriend looks like THAT???" vibes when the kids do find out)
Raban does science or engineering stuff, very inventor-like. He meets a very nice girl during his uni time and stays with her for the rest of his life. They have a sweer little house and maybe some kids at some point. He would be a chaotic dad but full of love.
- i like the interpretation of Jojo as a social worker, or as a vet or owner of an animal shelter. He has a cute boyfriend who loves him to pieces because that's what he deserves!!! And also too many little critters running around.
mhhh Markus is difficult.... Maybe he would start his own business, maybe he would take over his father's business and make it more ethical, it could go either way. I think due to his messed up home life it takes him a while to settle down with somebody. He definitely sells the mansion though, bad memories are associated with the place.
Haven't seen Deniz as manager interpretation anywhere, interesting
I like Marlon being all a mystery about his privet life, that suits him

So what do Nova and J do for a living if they move away with 1010 in your FR AU? Do 1010 still do music? Do they all dislike the music industry now?
Well if/when Neon, Nova, and 1010 move away, they spend time at Nova's parents house while transforming 1010 to more human/advanced looking robot bodies that don't resemble 1010 all that much (still enough that you'd believe them if they said they used to be 1010, but not enough that you could tell by looking at them).
After 1010 get upgraded, along with Neon (he probably goes full cybernetic except he keeps a human-looking head instead of the radar like OG Neon does), they all go to whatever city that Ex-Jay live in since it is much more friendly to robots compared to Vinyl City (even if the re-revolution takes place, anti-robot sentiments are still fairly high).
Anyway, Neon J would open this like this kind of candy/bakery hybrid store that also had an attached electronics/woodcarving store. One half he would create pulled candies and other snacks with Silver (White) while Rosa (Red) would be making the baked goods.
Fern (Green) or Sunny (Yellow) would be the cashier or the cleaner/busser depending on the day. Then it would usually be either Fern or Sky (Blue) who work in the electronics part of the store. That would have hand carved clocks, sculptures, and other stuff along with non-invasive cybernetics and a service for fixing electronics.
When not working, Neon J, Sky, and Rosa would still make music. Neon and Sky would be making their own music for their own channels, with Neon finally releasing a lot of new songs he's had in the works for years but never felt they fit the 1010 vibe, while Sky makes demos and samples for games she is making. (None of them put it under the name 1010 or Neon J).
Silver, Sky, and I think Sunny would also be going to college. Silver would be going for a major in queer studies and a minor in photography. Sky is getting a major or minor in computer sciences. And I don't know what Sunny would be doing, probably just getting an associates degree (or whatever an equivalent of that is).
Rosa would be working full time in the bakery, probably selling wedding cakes/food as a good way to bring in money. And then make music as a hobby with her family.
Fern on the other hand just becomes a leach (affectionate). Its depression and trauma from NSR really has affected it to such a degree that it isn't really ready to go off and do something on its own. Usually he will just help his siblings, dads, or just bum around the house/stores.
He'll clean, help Silver set up photography shots, play-test Sky's games, help Neon and Rosa make music, probably stay away from Sunny since their relationship is strained from all the bullying (though Sunny is trying to make it up to him).
Actually, I'd say mostly he would be taking care of plants. They probably have a rooftop garden, or are close to a community garden, where Fern will go and spend its' time. Harvest fresh crops for the bakery and family, and just make the house feel more alive with plants and flowers.
As for Nova, I would say he probably does some moonlighting as a DJ still to help bring in money for the family and not feel like a deadbeat. They've been trying to find another teaching job, or any kind of structured job outside of music, but after so many years in a job like NSR it gets hard to try and conform back to regular schedules.
Honestly he'd probably make for a really good tour guide person at a planetarium or a science museum. I can see them doing something like that as a part time job. Otherwise they would probably help Neon manage the other two businesses and act as a manager whenever a shitty customer tried to pull some BS while Neon isn't around.
So yeah. For the most part I would say that Neon, Sky, Rosa, and Nova still make music while Silver, Sunny, and Fern don't make any kind of music anymore. None of them like the music industry as a whole anymore, which is why they now just stick to making music for fun on youtube or whatever platform they post to (Neon J gets a lot of followers really quickly because he is just really good at making music).
#nsr#no straight roads#nsr au#failed revolution#eritalks#eriau#noart#asks#i imagine their shop is the lower floor#and their home is the upper floor#i kinda imagine it like a brownstone or something#also pretty wide#since it's like 2-3 stores in one#obviously they were able to afford it with their combined money#but after the 1/010 upgrades and building/buying that storefront#they have to actually work to not lose their stuff#which is perfectly fine by all of them#as long as they aren't working for n/sr anymore
