Word Count: 2,727
Warnings: wandavision spoilers!! i recommend catching up before reading this if you haven’t already. also, i cursed like, twice.

Prompt: hi!! what about a wanda x reader where r has similar powers to wanda & enters the hex to talk her into letting everyone in westview go & coming home with r? :)
Summary: R has to convince Wanda to let everyone in Westview go.
    part two
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you remember everything?” Jimmy asked you, concerned about how fast you were being thrown into everything.
You nodded confidently, you were nervous, kind of scared, but ready. After getting a call from Monica, you knew whatever was going on was important, and you made your way to the outskirts of Westview, New Jersey before she even had to tell you what was going on. “Wanda’s robot boyfriend-”
“-Synthezoid,” Jimmy corrected before seeing the look Darcy gave him. “Sorry.”
“Synthezoid boyfriend died because Thanos pulled the mind stone out of his head, she had to watch him die twice and freaked out, stole his body from S.W.O.R.D., and created a fake sitcom reality where she goes through decades because she’s a grieving 30 year old with an odd obsession with tv shows. Oh, and she’s mind controlling a whole town and I’m supposed to convince her to let them go. Almost forgot that one,” You said, pointedly making the lighthearted joke because of Jimmy’s evident stress, chuckling softly.
“Just be careful,” Darcy cut in, “Wanda doesn’t seem to want to leave and we won't know if things go wrong because she chooses what goes in her show and what doesn’t.”
“I’ll be just fine. Let’s go,” You sighed and the four of you started to head out the door, but Hayward pulled you aside before you could leave the building. You told them to go ahead and you would meet them by the car.
“Ms (Y/L/N),” Hayward nodded, and you nodded back to him. Warm greeting, you thought. “Director Hayward.”
“If you cannot get Wanda to submit and release the people of Westview, I want you to fight her. Do whatever you have to, I need the Vision’s body back in S.W.O.R.D. custody and the citizens of Westview to be freed.”
Your brow furrowed, “My assignment is to try to persuade Ms Maximoff. I’m not fighting her, Sir. She’s grieving. I just got here and I can tell. She seems like she just wants to be happy.”
He scoffed at you and shook his head, “Her happiness means nothing to me. Ms Maximoff has thousands held captive. So, I think you’re misunderstanding me, Ms (Y/L/N), I am ordering you to kill her if needed. We need her to bring that barrier down.”
“I don’t take orders from you, Director. I’m just here to try to work things out, not to fight anyone,” You retorted.
“So you would let her continue to mind control the people of Westview? To continue controlling a sentient weapon made of vibranium?” Hayward asked pointedly, but you weren’t having any of it.
“With all due respect, you seem awfully concerned about the Vision when there are ‘thousands held captive’. And regardless, do you have any idea what would happen if Wanda died while all those people were in there?” You paused for a moment, giving him a chance to answer. “I didn’t think so.”
And with that, you turned on your heel and huffed, quickly making your way to the car that was waiting to take you to the border of the hex, Darcy, Monica, and Jimmy sat inside of it.
“What did he want?” Jimmy asked.
You sighed and started playing with the sleeve of your long sleeved shirt, “He wants me to kill Wanda if she doesn’t stop mind controlling Westview.”
Darcy’s eyes widened, “Sorry, what?”
You looked up at her and saw her concerned expression, “Oh, I’m not going to.” You said quickly, not wanting any of them to get the wrong impression. “He isn’t in charge of me. Wanda doesn’t seem to want to hurt anyone in Westview, and besides, it would be foolish when we know nothing about what would happen inside the barrier if she died.”
Darcy nodded as Monica parked the car and the four of you got out of it.
“Thank you for doing this, (Y/n),” Monica smiled softly as you reached the hex.
“You know I’m always willing to help you when you need me,” You smiled and looked towards the barrier.
You knew the trio was watching you intently, with the other agents standing outside, waiting for you to go in, but your heart was racing and you had to take a few deep breaths before bringing your hands up, moving your fingers in a way that they recognized to be similar to the way Wanda did, and you stepped closer, the blue light from your powers flowing forward and hitting the hex.
It kind of looked like when food coloring is dropped into water, and the color spreads, except your powers were the food coloring, and the hex was the water.
Not wanting to waste any more time, you pulled your hands further apart and groaned as you slowly but surely pulled apart a section of the barrier that was big enough for you to fit through before walking right through it.
As soon as you were through, you looked behind you and saw nothing. None of the S.W.O.R.D. tents or buildings or cars, Darcy, Monica, Jimmy, and all the other agents who were outside were gone. It was just a plain old normal street.
You looked down at your clothes and chuckled, the 80s. If Wanda had anything, it was a fashion sense, whether it was conscious of it or not. You were dressed in a fitted white shirt, and an electric blue skirt and cropped blazer set. Was it a bit tacky? Sort of, but you couldn’t help but love it. However, you were very pleased that the white boots you were wearing didn’t have too high of a heel.
You sighed and knew you needed to go quickly. Vision had just left for work and this was the best chance you were going to get to talk to Wanda. You doubted she would let you convince her to let everyone go if Vision was there with her.
You extended your arms to the ground below you and used your powers to lift yourself up into the air, waiting until you saw the house you recognized to be Wanda’s to fly down to a street that had no one on it that was close enough for you to arrive quickly.
Your hand trembled as it reached up to knock on the door, but before you could overthink any longer, you tapped your knuckles against the wood three times and waited, playing with your fingers.
Wanda opened the door and smiled, though she wore a confused expression on her face, “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met before, or have we?”
You offered a smile and shook your head, “We haven’t, I’m (Y/n).”
“Wanda,” she said, with a lilt in her voice.
“I actually wanted to talk to you about something, if you aren’t busy? It’s important.”
She gazed at you curiously before nodding and stepping out of the way, “Come inside.”
You walked inside her home, the feeling you got was weird. You’d seen it on Darcy’s tv, but it was different to actually be in the room.
Wanda noticed the way your eyes flicked around her living room, looking at the couch, the photos hanging, the random decorations, and the few toys on the floor.
“Do you want something to drink?” She asked politely, before noticing you staring at one of the toys Tommy happened to favor. “My boys are upstairs.”
You smiled politely and shook your head, “I’m alright, Wanda, thank you. I need to talk to you about what you’re doing.” You started, not very strongly, but it wasn’t like you could just blurt out what you needed to say. This was a difficult situation.
“I’m sorry?” She tilted her head, not catching on, but she looked worried.
“I know about your powers, you’re controlling everyone in Westview, and Vision is starting to-”
“Leave,” Wanda extended her hands and tried to levitate you out, but you put your hands at your side and grounded yourself, blue mist surrounding your feet.
Wanda faltered and her eyes widened at the sight of your powers, “Who are you?”
“I’m Y/n Y/l/n. I was sent here to convince you to let everyone in Westview go. I promise I don’t mean you any harm, I just want things to go smoothly so no one else gets hurt.”
Wanda shook her head, “I can't just let go of this, I finally have everything I want.”
You sighed and nodded, “I understand how you feel, I have lost family too, but the people of Westview, they have their own lives and families. They’re in pain, Wanda. I can feel it. Can’t you?”
Her eyes snapped up and met yours, the tears in her eyes threatening to spill. She shook her head, “I can’t feel it.”
You stood for a moment, the two of you just looking at each other, before taking a breath and letting the blue mist that was keeping you grounded fade away. Cautiously, you walked closer to her and let out a breath of relief when she wasn’t backing away or looking like she was going to attack you.
“You can look into minds, can’t you?” You asked, knowing that showing her the pain she was unknowingly putting these people through was the best chance you had at convincing her to do the right thing.
Wanda nodded without saying anything and understood what you wanted her to do. Shakily, she lifted her hand and bit her lip, she looked scared.
You blinked a few times, thought, fuck it, and gently held her wrist, bringing her hand up to your temple. You watched her eyes glow red before closing your eyes, allowing Wanda to see inside your mind.
All Wanda could feel was an unbearable amount of agony, she heard thousands of voices overlapping each other, panicked screams and crying. It was too much. Everyone sounded so scared. She did this.
The feeling was excruciating and let out a strangled sob, which made your eyes open on instinct.
Tears were flowing freely down Wanda’s face and she slowly sank to her knees, trying to catch her breath.
You got down on the floor in front of her and held one of her hands, using your other one to tilt her chin up towards you, “It’s okay, Wanda.”
She shook her head furiously and squeezed your hand, leaning forward, into you.
You wrapped your arm around her and let her cry into your shoulder. Your stomach felt twisted and you couldn’t believe Hayward had asked you to kill Wanda if she refused to comply, not when she was reacting like this.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen like this,” She managed to get out between deep breaths and whimpers. “I just - I wanted Vis back.”
Tears pricked at your own eyes, but you ignored them, knowing that you had to focus on Wanda, “I know, it’s okay. Everything will be okay. You just have to put down the barriers around Westview and stop mind controlling everyone.”
Wanda’s breath hitched, but she nodded, “Okay.”
“Okay?” You asked. Surprised at how you managed to get her to listen to you.
“I’ll do it now,” She sniffled and wiped her tears, standing up slowly.
Your eyebrows furrowed, “Well, hold on, don’t you want to see Vision first? Or call the twins down here?”
Her lips pressed together as another tear slipped down her cheek and she shook her head, “I don’t know what I’ll do if I allow myself to see them again,” She said quietly.
You nodded and stepped back, letting her go about this whatever way she wanted.
You watched her work, even though the two of you were inside, you could see out the window that the sky had turned red and it was gradually getting more blue, looking like she was chipping off pieces of the sky, if the sky was red, away from the inside out.
Before you knew it, the house the two of you were standing in had been reduced to the foundation of a home, just concrete laying on the floor in the shape of the house Wanda had been living in.
She was wearing a burgundy shirt, a jacket, and jeans instead of the big jeans and plaid shirt she’d had on before, and you were back to wearing your comfortable grey long sleeved shirt and jeans.
Her bottom lip started to tremble and she turned towards you before her breath started to quicken.
You wore a pained expression and stepped towards her, holding your arms out. You thought she was going to deny the embrace you were offering her, but she walked forward and buried her head in your neck, letting you wrap your arms around her, “I’m really proud of you, Wanda. It takes a lot to be able to give up something that important to you.”
She nodded, but said nothing. You stood there for about two more minutes before her breathing had calmed and she’d stopped crying. “Thank you, (Y/n).”
You nodded and smiled sadly at her before you both looked towards the red buick that was now sitting in her driveway, “I think I’m going to have to take you back out of Westview with me. I’ll get in trouble if I just let you leave, I think.”
“It’s fine, I’ll go,” She fished the keys to her car out of her pocket and played with the keyring. “Do you think you can drive us? I kind of want to look around before we leave.”
You took her keys and she let out a breath before quietly thanking you and walking to the passenger seat of her car.
Before you pulled out of the driveway, you spoke, “How did you do all of this?” You asked curiously. Sure, you had magic yourself, but there was no way you could even dream about pulling off anything like this.
“I’m not sure. All I remember is feeling so completely alone and sad, and I went to S.W.O.R.D. to see Vis for the last time before coming here, because Hayward wouldn’t let me take his body to give him a funeral or anything, so I guess I made a version of him here. I really don’t know how I managed though, because -”
“Sorry,” You interrupted, turning to look at her with your brows knitted together. “You said the Vision stayed in S.W.O.R.D.?”
“Yes?” She nodded. “What is it?”
You huffed and started the engine of the car, pulling out of the driveway, “The lying bastard. Hayward edited security camera footage to make it look like you stole the Vision’s body and used it here.”
“That’s ridiculous. I know better than to make myself a criminal again. Well, I mean-”
“It’s fine Wanda. You didn’t mean to,” You continued driving, enjoying the neighborhood.
When you were getting close to the edge of town, she spoke again. “Am I going to jail?”
“I won’t let them put you in jail,” You said simply.
“What, why?” Wanda asked, and it was clear that she was asking because she thought she deserved it and she was expecting it to happen.
“You don’t deserve it,” You shrugged. You didn’t want her to suffer alone, again. She already tried that, and look where that got everyone.
Wanda shook her head, “You know that isn’t true.”
“I believe it is. I know that your actions were wrong, but Hayward was wrong for denying you when you asked for Vision’s body to bury. It wasn’t his to have. All he cares about is money and power and the Vision would cost a lot of money and would give him a lot of power. I mean, realistically, he’s kind of the cause for this. But that’s not the point. The point is that it was never your intention to hurt these people and it’s not fair to you that he set you up like this.”
“And what will you do if they try to put me in jail?” Wanda asked curiously, her voice low.
You sighed as you started to be able to make out Jimmy, Monica, and Darcy from far away. “I dunno, maybe we can run away together or something.”

2 Truths & a Lie (Spencer Reid Imagine)
Tumblr media
Summary: A game of “Strip 2 Truths and a Lie” helps heats things up between SSA Reader and Spencer.
Prompt: “Ladies first.” Couple: Spencer Reid x Female Reader Category: Fluff Content Warning: Alcohol consumption, stripping  Word count: 3.5k
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
“Strip poker!” Garcia slurred. “Let’s play! Let’s play! Let’s play!”
You had to interject. “No way! If Reid’s playing - I’m not. That’s so unfair.”
Morgan agreed with you. “Yeah, I’m with Hot Stuff over here. He’s banned from three casinos for a reason.”
All eyes turned to the aforementioned man, whose smug smile reached from ear to ear. “Fair enough. What can we play then?” He asked.
It was your turn to scream like a giddy Garcia. “Two truths and a lie!” You jumped up from your seat on the floor. “It’s totally fair cause we’re all profilers here. So it’ll either show how good of a liar you are or show how good of a profiler you are.”
“Excuse me, Girl Goddess. Need I remind you - I’m not a profiler.” Garcia butted in.
JJ made a disapproving noise against the brim of her red solo cup. “Hey, hey, hey - you’re like the first to tell when someone’s hiding something.”
Garcia simply smiled at this. “Ah, you’re right, Jayje.”
So it was settled. You and the BAU were gonna play “Strip 2 Truths and a Lie.”
But to make things a little more interesting, you changed up the rules.
The order the players would take turns went in a clockwise circle. Garcia, Morgan, Reid, you, Prentiss, and JJ. (Hotch and Rossi bailed last minute. Apparently, being invited to Garcia’s wasn’t an offer they couldn’t refuse.)
Instead of players guessing what the lie was and stopping once someone guessed correctly, you were all going to guess at the same time. Garcia took the liberty of handing each of your sticky notes and once the player said their two truths and one lie, you would write your guess on your post-it and put it in a pile for the “liar” to read.
Then the “liar” would declare who was stripping based on who guessed incorrectly. And just for some more fun - the “liar” wouldn’t explicitly tell what the real lie was. You profilers would just have to use context clues to do that.
Since each player was guessing on post-its, Garcia gave you each a different color to distinguish who guessed what. Granted, it was Garcia, so she had every shade of the rainbow. She gave herself the red, Reid got the orange, you got yellow, Prentiss - green, Morgan got blue. And JJ - purple.
“I’m first!” Garcia sing-songily said. “Alright - I had a guinea pig named Cerulean when I was little . . . my mom knew how to juggle, andddd, OH! I lost my virginity to a guy I met online with the gamer tag ‘FastAndFurious79.”
Morgan almost spat out the drink he was nursing from his shock at the last one. “Babygirl, you did what?!” The pitch of his voice sent the rest of you into a frenzy as you each wrote your guesses on your sticky note pads.
You guessed the lie was the guinea pig. And using your peripherals, you saw that Prentiss thought the same. You folded your yellow sticky note and placed it in the center. Eventually, when the rainbow was complete, Garcia began reading them. “I hate you guys! It’s no fun being friends with profilers.” She pouted.
“You lost your virginity to a guy with the gamertag ‘fast and furious?!” Morgan screeched. You and the team laughed so hard, your stomach started hurting.
The game continued for an entire round until it was Morgan’s second turn.
“Alright, growing up my favorite movie was Kindergarten Cop . .  . um, I used to be a lifeguard, and my body count is higher than my age.”
Reid was quick to jot down his answer, but you took a little time with yours.
“What’s the problem, Hot Stuff?” Morgan teased.
“Mmm, I dunno. You’ve genuinely got me stumped on this one.” You admitted. Morgan just shot you that infomercial worthy grin as a response.
Hesitantly, you finally wrote down that he was lying about his favorite moving being Kindergarten Cop. Your sticky note was the last to go in the pile, so you just handed yours to Morgan to speed up the process. He chuckled while going through most of them and looked back up at all of you with that same smug look Reid had earlier.
“Looks like Pretty Boy and Hot Stuff are the first to strip tonight!” He declared, making you roll your eyes.
“Your body count isn’t higher than your age?!” Reid squeaked. Morgan laughed and shook his head no. Now that - that was shocking.
“Alright, what can I take off that counts?” You clarified.
“Any piece of clothing that covers your legs, arms, and torso.” Morgan happily informed.
It wasn’t fair. On a normal workday, you would have a blazer, pants, or sometimes a skirt, and a blouse or shirt underneath, but today was collectively your guys’ day off - so you only had on a fitted tee and jeans. Whereas the genius to the right of you wore a sweater vest, button-up, tie, belt, and his pants. Before, you would make fun of him for wearing so much on a day off, but now you were envious.
“Not fair! He’s got like 80 pieces of clothing on.” You whined. The rest of the group, including Reid, laughed at you. Not a single one of them offered mercy. Looks like you were just gonna have to strip off what little clothes you were wearing.
“Ladies first.”
Reid teased as if he was being a gentleman by saying this. His voice made it sound so subtly seductive that your cheeks heat up. He even said it with the side of his mouth, making his plump lips form a smirk.
You raised your brows at his cockiness. You wanted to make him eat his words, so you stood up - first, unbuttoning your jeans painfully slow. All eyes were on you as you stuck your thumbs inside the waistband and wiggled your hips, while simultaneously pulling your jeans down. You made a little show out of it, milking the situation. You dragged the denim down while arching your back to flaunt your butt as it was unhurriedly revealed. And just for fun, you angled yourself, where Reid could get the full view. When your jeans dropped to your ankles, you stepped out of them, bent over to retrieve them, and for a finishing touch - you dropped them right onto Reid’s lap.
“They don’t call me Hot Stuff for nothing.” You flirtatiously remarked.
“WOO-HOO-HOO! That was sexy, Mamas!” Morgan cheered. The girls all had faces of admiration or surprise on them - mainly admiration. Whereas Reid appeared like he’d just discovered porn or something - like a whole world of possibilities opened up.
“Hello? Earth to Dr. Reid?” You joked, sitting back down beside him.
When you felt the floor’s rug against your thong, it shocked you a little, so you moaned at the feeling. Not loud enough for everyone to hear over their laughs and cheers but just loud enough for Reid to. And he most certainly did. Because you caught his tongue sweeping over his lips while his eyes looked at yours. If you weren’t in a group setting, you would’ve straddled him right then and there and kissed him, but you weren’t gonna lose control like that. The question was - would he? And secretly - you were hoping he would.
“Wow, Y/N. You’ve rendered him speechless. I don’t think that’s ever happened before,” Prentiss quipped. “You should do that more often.” Everyone erupted into another fit of laughter.
Reid shook his head as if to re-enter reality. “I, uh, I - I’m just gonna take off my belt.” He concluded, fiddling nervously with the buckle.
“Need some help there?” Before you even finished the question, you put your small fingers around the clasp, making him shiver.
“N-no!” He whimpered, grabbing your wrists in one hand and moving them away from his groin. He continued to unbuckle it and neatly place it behind him.
The game continued on for many more minutes with Morgan losing his shirt and consequently, Garcia losing her shit (which was understandable because Morgan was RIPPED.) JJ removed her belt, while Garcia took off her cropped cardigan. Prentiss was the only one left who was fully clothed, while you and Reid still hadn’t lost any more articles of clothing since the initial time you did.
“Alright, alright! Me again!” Garcia giggled, while she downed the rest of whatever was in that red solo cup. “Let’s see. Oh, I got it! Okay, my hair has been dyed every color except for green, I’m the president of a secret club for people that love sea otters, and I’ve had sex more times on the floor than in the bed.” She squealed.
You weren’t buying that she’s never dyed her hair green, and after a quick side glance to the right, you saw that Reid didn’t buy it either. You folded the paper over your answer and placed it confidently in the center - waiting patiently for the verdict. Garcia zealously scooped up all the post its and scrutinized them. “Uh oh, I think Boy Wonder and Girl Goddess might be out of a job once Sir Hotch finds out how bad they are at detecting lies!” Garcia got so excited she started jumping up and down. You pouted and faked sobs once you heard this.
“Take it off! Take it off! Take it off!” The group started cheering.
Just to be the center of attention once more, you stood up and put your right hand under the hem of the left side of your shirt, and you put your left hand under the hem of the right side of your shirt, making your arms cross over your tummy. You pulled the shirt up (sucking in your gut once it was uncovered) all the way until it was finally over your head. You were left in your maroon push up bra and your black lacy thong - a set that didn’t match, but when you looked down at yourself, looked decently good together.
The “crowd” gasped at your figure in its entirety. Encouraging words were spewed at you, making you smile.
“Alright, your turn.” You nudged Reid. He simply slipped off his sweater vest, quite ungracefully might you add. But little did you know that he lost all coordination after seeing you so bare.
“Here.” He whispered, removing his tie from his collar. He began unbuttoning his dress shirt, which you didn’t understand why, until he shrugged it off of himself and helped you into it. You weren’t surprised in the least when you saw that underneath his white button-up was a cotton tee. Of course, he had even more layers than you previously thought.
“Aww, look at that.” Prentiss said with awe at Reid’s actions.
While Reid rolled up the long sleeves until he saw your hands peek through, all you could manage to do was look at him. He bit his lip while he did this, showing how focused he was on the task. He was absolutely adorable.
“Do you want me to button it for you?” He quietly asked. You shook your head no. “It’s okay. Thank you.” If you could’ve seen yourself, you would’ve seen that your eyes had hearts in them. You were the epitome of lovesick.
“Yeah, of course.”
When he stopped helping you dress, you couldn’t help but notice the outfit he was left to wear. It was a plain white tee with gray dress pants and his classic black converse. How he managed to look so good in such a simple outfit was beyond you. It was quite unfair actually. You thought his normal quirky attire suit him pretty well but this outfit made you feel something you’d never felt before. Your eyes drifted up to his hair, which since he cut it last year, was growing out again but was still short. It was the perfect length and had a little curl and unruliness to it - just the way you liked. It looked so soft that you were overcome with a sudden overwhelming urge to run your fingers through it, but you willed yourself not to.
“I think someone’s in love over there.” Morgan pointed to you, making you snap out of your trance.
“What? NO!” You shrieked.
“Oh my god, you totally are.” Prentiss giggled.
“Somebody likes Reid.” JJ sing-songily teased before sipping at her drink and looking away.
“OK, enough with the crazy talk. We’re all a little too drunk to be making such claims.” You concluded. “I think maybe it’s time to go home.” You hastily said, trying to change the topic.
“Mmm-mmm,” Morgan disapprovingly shook his head. “None of us should be driving right now. Even Reid.” Reid looked slightly offended at the comment, but he couldn’t deny it. He’d only had one drink, but everyone knew Reid was a lightweight.
“Why don’t you guys just crash here?” Garcia slurred. No one objected, so the sleeping arrangement was made. Morgan and Garcia would sleep in Garcia’s bed. JJ on the beanbag. Prentiss on the loveseat. And you and Reid on the couch.
“Me and Reid?” You asked Garcia.
“Uh-huh,” She nodded rapidly. “You’ll fit. Just spoon!” She said with joyful elation.
“Uh ohh, Reid and Y/N sittin’ in a tree. C-U-D-D-L-I-N-G.” Morgan jested.
“Shut up!” Reid chucked a pillow at Morgan’s face - which he caught before it even touched his head. “Don’t worry, I’ll just sleep on the floor.” Reid told you.
“No, don’t be silly. We share the couch on the jet all the time.” You told him. Covertly, you were hoping he wouldn’t argue against it. There were certainly worse things you could do than cuddle with Reid. Just as you wanted, he didn’t contend.
“Here.” He handed you your jeans and t-shirt, which you took but didn’t put back on.
“Do you mind if I stay in this? There’s no way I can fall asleep in my jeans,” He blinked hard as if to process what you were saying but didn’t dispute. “I’ll be back.” You disclosed while walking to Garcia’s bathroom to put on your shirt and take off your bra. You came back out, feeling a cold breeze. Unbeknownst to you, the cold air hardened your nipples, but this was not lost on Reid. He let himself get a glimpse of the sight while he laid on the couch, waiting for you to join him.
“You’re really gonna sleep in your pants?” You asked him, not even trying to imply anything sexual.
“Would you mind if I took them off?” He shyly questioned.
You shook your head as if to say, “No, not at all.”
He slid them down before you took your spot on the couch. While Reid’s back was against the backrest, your back was right up against his chest. This was the position you’d normally be in if you were on the jet. Something that surprisingly - the team never teased you for. It was as if everyone just accepted it as something normal. Something totally natural.
Except in this instance, Garcia’s couch was surprisingly not as wide as the jet’s, so you had to scoot back a little to fit. However, you didn’t anticipate how close Reid already was to you. So when you backed up, (for lack of a better term) you made ass-to-dick contact.
“Oh my God! I’m so sorry!” You nervously blurted. Reid uncomfortably laughed it off.
“No, no. You’re fine.” He reassured you. It was enough to convince you to settle back down and cuddle up to Reid again.
Despite doing this countless amounts of times before, there was something about this time that made you feel differently. You thought that your heart might sooner beat out of your chest. The rhythm vibrated through your entire body, and you honestly worried that the beat was so loud that Reid could hear it. After 30 minutes of this, the whole house was knocked out - except for you. You harbored too much nervous energy to fall asleep.
“Are you feeling okay? You’re breathing really hard.” Reid murmured, his quiet voice shocking you. Damn it, he wasn’t asleep either? Leave it to him to pick up on your unnatural breathing patterns. You told Reid it was nothing, but he didn’t leave it alone. “How can I help you sleep?”Once more, you told him you were just fine. “Can I just try something? My mom used to do this for me when I couldn’t fall asleep,” You reluctantly agreed. “Turn around.” He softly commanded.
You did as asked, turning towards him. Now that you were face-to-face, Reid took his arm that was by his side before and put it over your body, with his hand on your back. You felt his warm touch move from between your shoulder blades, down your spine, all the way to the small of your back. He moved up and down repeatedly, sometimes adding pressure along the way. Your eyes closed at the pleasure.
“Does that feel good?” He asked sweetly, but even then, you couldn’t help but imagine him asking that same question in a very different scenario.
You couldn’t be bothered to speak real words, so you hummed in tranquility.
He kept doing this until he noticed your breathing started to slow down. It was working.
The last thought you had before falling asleep completely was of how you never wanted this moment to end.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
“How long should we wait until we wake them?” You heard JJ ask. Her voice seemed so distant for some reason. “Mmm, I give it five more minutes.” Morgan’s voice chirped. Now his voice seemed to be closer.
“Should I take another picture?” Garcia asked. Wait a minute - her voice was louder now too.
You groggily opened your eyes, wincing at the brightness of your surroundings.
“Oh, I think Hot Stuff’s awake.” Morgan’s words sobered you up enough to lift your head and examine your surroundings.
Reid’s face was buried into your chest, while your hand was in his hair. Your leg wrapped around Reid’s lower body, with his hand hooked on the back of your knee, hiking it up even further and keeping your leg in its place. You began realizing just how provocative the scene was, so you startled yourself out of it. Like the clumsy goof you are, you rolled out of Reid’s embrace, but with no extra space to roll over onto, you tumbled to the floor gracelessly. This woke up Reid and made the four viewers hovering over the couch die laughing.
“Not funny.” You groaned, clutching your side in pain after collapsing onto the floor.
“What happened?” Reid yawned.
“What happened was you and Hot Stuff got pretty comfortable on Garcia’s sofa.” Morgan sounded way too happy to tell Reid this.
You looked back at Reid with a frown, noticing how he looked like he was a child that had just been caught doing something bad.
“Maybe next time we play Strip 2 Truths and a Lie, they’ll finally admit they like each other.” Prentiss giggled, mentioning you and Reid as if you weren’t in their presence.
“Be quiet!” You and Reid simultaneously yelped.
You buried your face into a throw pillow that had been discarded on the floor, probably from where you and Reid took up all the space on the couch. As you hid your face in embarrassment, you heard the quartet move away from the scene and into the kitchen, leaving you and Reid to your devices.
“Sorry about them.” He finally said. His voice was all raspy from where he’d just woken up and all you could think was - YOU’RE KILLING ME. How did he make everything he did so sexy?
“Me, too.” You uttered, removing the pillow from your face to hug it in your arms like a child hugging their toy. From behind you, Reid sat up and swung his legs to the front of the couch to stand up and help you up from your sitting position on the floor.
“For what it’s worth, I don’t regret anything,” He told you when you’d risen to eye level with him. You smiled to suggest that you felt the same way. “You know, maybe we could do this again . . . without the audience.” He cocked his head backward to gesture to the rest of the group.
“Only if you promise to give me back rubs again.” You beamed.
The look on Reid’s face was priceless. It was as if he’d just been told he won the lottery. You walked away from him with the same stupid grin on your face that he had on his.
“Hey, wait I’m gonna need that shirt back!” He called out from behind you as you moved swiftly into Garcia’s bathroom to change.
“I guess you’ll have to come pick it up from my apartment tonight.” You yelled back to him, lingering in the doorway. His smile was your answer.
Well - looks like you have plans tonight.

Music Video Analysis: Rose-Coloured Boy - Paramore
Camera
This narrative/ performative music video begins with a medium close up of the lead singer of the band - there is no music in this shot, only the diegetic sound of the artist breathing, as she looks uncomfortable, which draws an immediate audience focus on her right from the start. This shot is also successful in revealing to the audience that the video is set in the 80s as it shows costume and makeup, as well as setting the tone for the rest of the video, a tone created by the narrative which follows the 'hosts', who feel a lot of stress and pressure from their job. The camera is used in a certain way during the opening title sequence for the fictional talk show 'Wake Up! Roseville' (a link to the title of the song through 'Rose-Coloured'), so it makes it look more authentic through the panning and zooms, along with being able to introduce the other members of the band. At 0:24 we see a close up of a man who, assuming from the headphones and pointed finger, is the director and this, again, sets the tone of the video as it indicates that the hosts (the artists) are under pressure from the bosses to perform well on their talk show. During the parts of the video which are supposed to be showing the talk show, a static, medium close up is used with thick black borders going vertically down the sides, which is the same as these types of shows appear in real life, which again adds to the authenticity of the show. A panning, medium long shot shot is used at 0:46 as the artists move from one set to another, where the lead singer throws her papers on the floor, and the audience are yet again given a strong impression that the characters are fed up with their jobs. At 1:03, the long shot cuts to a close up of the lead singer on the talk show smiling, as she sings the lyrics "just let me cry a little bit longer", which strongly emphasises the way in which they feel pressured to act a certain way, to get the highest ratings on their talk show - this could also be a reflection of the way the artists really feel about the music industry, and how they feel confined and pressured by it. A fast zoom is used at 2:17 on an ominous character in a long cloak and hat as the lead singer stumbles towards them, but quickly zooms back out again once the artist realises that it is just a coat stand after pulling on its shoulder - these zooms add to the impression that she is confused and stressed as the audience are quickly drawn forwards and backwards. During the middle of the music video the music stops, and a turning point in the host's (lead singers) day is shown - here both long shots and close ups are used to emphasise her distress; in the long shots we see multiple TV screens surrounding her, all telling her to do different things and pretend to be someone she’s not, while the close ups allow the audience to see her reaction to this, see her expressions of confusion and panic. After this part of the video, the tone changes and the hosts seem to rebel against the talk show and its bosses; the audience can see this tone chanage through the different uses of the camera - before the camera movements had been subtle, whereas now they are a lot more obvious, with quick panning and fast zooms and slides, as well as now being a hand-held camera, making the video appear more chaotic. However, the music video ends with the same close up shot of the lead singer smiling at the beginning of the video, creating a circular narrative, showing that despite the hosts acting out they still continue the show the following day.
Editing
The first cut we see in this music video is a cut on the beat, straight as the music starts after a couple of seconds of silence where we are shown the lead singer looking in the mirror - I think that this cut is very effective at drawing in the audiences’ focus right from the beginning. After this, the editing is used to make the talk show seem authentic and it is done successfully through using transitions that would’ve actually been used for a show like that during the 80s; for example, the freeze of the scenes in the title sequence, with the hosts in action before sliding between the shots. Another way in which the editing is effective in creating the talk show’s authenticity is through the layering of the opening sequence and the special effects added on, like the city and sunrise behind the hosts at the start, followed by the kite, rainbow and hot air balloon, as well as the hosts being in little boxes with stars behind them. The roses that have been edited onto the scene in this opening sequence are a reference to the title of the song, 'Rose-Coloured Boy'. While the talk show is being presented, special effects are used to show images of what the hosts are talking about appearing next to them, along with the weather map (linking to the lyrics 'just hang with me and my weather'), which furthermore adds to the authenticity of the show, along with the fact that a filter is used to emphasise to the audience that they are watching 80s TV. The most common transition between shots in this music video is a basic cut, which is never really on the beat (and even the very few times it is it is not obvious). During slower parts of the song, like the shot that begins at 1:44, the shots are left longer so that it matches the pace of the song (which is a common aspect of music videos). A fade is used at 2:23 to transition between scenes, to portray the artist's distress as the two different locations and actions seem to merge together - her distress is further shown after this shot, and after the little girl speaks to her, when there are fast paced cuts to black and then back again while she shakes her head. During the section of the video where the hosts are 'rebelling' against the show, the cuts are fast paced to match the chaotic energy of the scene, before returning to the 'Wake Up! Roseville' opening sequence with the authentic 80s show editing, again showing this circular structure of the video.
Mise-en-scene
A contrast of colours is used in this music video, perhaps to reflect the opposing parts of the hosts' lives; vibrant colours, like red and blue, are used during the parts of the video that show the TV show, while, when the 'talk show cameras' are off, the colours, as well as the lighting used, are more dark and dull - they are putting on brighter, happier versions of themselves on camera when compared to real life, which is more dull and stressful; maybe this could be applied to the artists' real lives also, as they have to put out a certain image of themselves as a result of being a part of the music industry with a huge amount of fans who expect certain things from them.
The costume worn by the band and extras in the video are typical, smart outfits that newsreaders would've worn during the 80s, like the red skirt and blazer, the lead singer's hairstyle and the suits, again adding to the authentic feel of the talk show. The makeup used is very much an 80s style and a lot of it is used, again emphasising the fact that she is hosting the talk show, as presenters on TV shows often use a lot of makeup. However, towards the end of the video, when the hosts begin to rebel, the costume becomes more messy, with the singer's dress sleeve being torn off, and the other band members no longer wearing their blazers, one even with his tie wrapped around his head - this adds to the tonal shift, from the character seemingly feeling lost to now a more chaotic headspace. The middle of the video in which the artist feels lost is portrayed to the audience through the mis-en-scene; for example, the space around her is completely black, with only the rectangular mirror with the bright lightbulbs, but even that moves into the background so she is left alone in the dark, which has connotations of being lost.
The props used throughout this music video are relevant to the talk show, yet again making 'Wake Up! Roseville' appear as 'real' as possible - for example, the props used right at the start of the video are typical to that of a dressing room; make up brushes, a bag, a mirror. Then, the props that are placed on the news desk are conventional of the scene, with a mug, microphone and papers. Furthermore, we see multiple other props that are suited to a studio, like the cameras, the lights, even the headphones worn by a director.
The artists' performances are vital in making the music video seem as believable as possible, especially the lead singer, as she appears to be the main character of the narrative. I think that she is very successful in conveying the range of emotions her character feels throughout, especially during the part where she is alone, surrounded by the TV screens telling her what to do - at 2:58 she gives a small smile to the little girl, who we can assume is her younger self (as she is also called Hailey), which perhaps gives the sense that she feels nostalgic of being young with no responsibilities, of the fact that she wanted to be a journalist since she was young and now it just causes her distress. I also like the lead singer's performance during the parts of the video which are supposed to be the talk show, as although she is miming the words, she is using the typical facial expressions of a host, with the tilted head and smile.
Genre
The genre of this music video is pop and I think that this is signified through the use of bright colours and a strong narrative mixed with performance, which are common features of pop music videos. I also think that, because pop is obviously a very popular and current genre, that the narrative used is effective in relating to the young target audience of this particular genre, as it deals with current issues, like the stress of work and the pressures felt through everyday life; it could even be argued that the music video deals with the pressures the band feel from the music industry, and it is reflected through the scenario of a talk show, and the treatment of artists by the industry is another current topic.
Paramore producing this genre of pop music may be a surprise to fans who have listened to their previous albums, which tended to be more pop-punk, and the pop influence on this music video may create mixed reactions within the old and new fanbase.
Intertextuality
In this music video I can spot two intertextual references; the first reference exists within the band's own music - a talk show guest holds up a book with the title 'Real Happy' which could be seen as deliberate, referencing another song from their album called 'Fake Happy'. The other reference would be more noticeable for the wider audience who have perhaps not listened to other songs from the band; the constant stress that the 'hosts' are under as a result of the executives of the talk show, made obvious through the lead singer's performance, comes to a head towards the end of the video and at 3:35 she finally snaps, matching the lyrics "I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to". The intertextual reference is created when she yells "F*** it! We'll do it live", just like the outtake from political commentator Bill O'Reilly did when told a clip from Sting would play them out.
These intertextual references act as little easter eggs for the fans (the reference to another song through the book) but also attract a wider audience, and portray the band as current and possibly 'quirky' as they can link their videos to specific real life events.
Audience Reception
Using Stuart Hall's Reception theory, and assuming that the audience members adopted the position of preferred reading, I think that the audience would've decoded the producer's encoded message of the video, this message being one that portrays the stresses of everyday life and the pressure everyone feels from around them. I also think that the producer was trying to take this message further, by trying to portray the poor treatment of artists by the music industry and the way in which they feel pressure, although this may not be decoded by the audience. I think that the most effective aspect of this video when trying to portray this message is through the performance of the lead singer, who throughout the music video conveys the emotions of the main character successfully, along with the part in the middle of the video without the track, where a close up shot is used so that we can just see her face surrounded by the dark, which is very effective in creating a tonal shift, where the audience can see more of the message the producer is trying to portray, of strong stress and the loneliness it can cause.
The audience will most likely watch this music video for the simple reason that they enjoyed listening to the song, whether they are an old fan, new, or not one at all. As the band has been producing music for many years now, it has a very wide and large fan base, and so many dedicated fans would want to watch the music video as they will be interested in the band as actual people - the fact that the band have been going for a while may make people who are no longer fans watch the video even if they do not like their music anymore, just through curiosity of what the artists are like now and to see what they're now creating.
Andrew Goodwin's Thoery
There are many ways in which this music video applies to Andrew Goodwin's theory, the first way being that it demonstrates pop genre characteristics, through the bright colour, as well as narrative mixed with performance. Although there are not many literal links between the lyrics and the visuals, there are some more subtle ones - for example the line "I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to" becomes more apparent towards the end of the video when the 'hosts' become fed up of working on the show and lash out; this could mean that this video uses amplification of some of the lyrics to create visuals. There are also not many links between the music and the visuals, however, when the music begins to get slower, the shots become longer with camera movement becoming slower; for example, at 1:45. Another part of Goodwin's theory that this music video follows, is the point in which he says that the demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artists and we see plenty of close ups of the members of the band throughout the video. A similar visual style is created throughout many of the  band's music videos from their new album - it is one of 'quirky' graphics; for example, in this video the opening sequence at the start for the talk show is fairly unexpected, similar to another of their music videos called 'Caught in The Middle' which features many unusual graphics. I think that this motif of 'quirky' graphics makes the band seem more fun and relevant, therefore attracting a wider target audience. Perhaps the most obvious link to Goodwin's theory is the frequent reference to the notion of looking throughout this video - as the talk show is located on the set of a talk show, there are constant cameras and TV screens being shown. However, I do not think that there is any voyeuristic treatment of the female body in this music video, which is quite unusual for the pop genre. In this video, as mentioned previously, there are intertextual references, with a reference to another one of the band's songs, as well as a reference to another talk show moment.
Laura Mulvey's Theory
I do not think that this music video conforms to Laura Mulvey's theory of the Male Gaze, as the camera does not seem to linger on the curves of the female body, doesn't seem to objectify women, or portray the woman through the virgin/ whore dichotomy. However, there is only one main woman in this video, being the lead singer, although there is a female extra. Perhaps the lack of the Male Gaze in this music video is due to the fact that the lead singer is a woman, and could maybe have played a major role in the creation of the video, meaning she had a say in how to act, although many female artist are portrayed in the way Mulvey states so this point could be invalid. I like that this video does not seem to conform to the Male Gaze as I think that it is unusual for a pop music video to do this.
Levi Strauss' Theory
I do not think that there are many obvious examples of Levi Strauss' theory of Binary Oppositions in this music video. It could be argued that there is a binary opposition between the 'hosts' of the talk show (the band) and the executives and directors of it - perhaps conveying 'good vs. evil'. Maybe you could also say that there is an opposition within the characters themselves; the side of them that wants to behave and act positively so they can have a successful talk show, and then the other, stressful side of them that hates their job and wants to cause chaos. An opposition within the music video itself could be the tonal shift from the start of the video compared to towards the end (despite the circular narrative); the start of the video shows the 'hosts' smiling out of the supposed TV screen, seemingly calm and composed, in comparison to near the end, when everything turns to red, and the 'hosts' are causing chaos.

One That Got Away - Chapter 3
Steve Rogers x OFC Ariadne Bellamy
Tumblr media
Chapter 3: Fool Me Once...
Universe: Marvel Canon
Rating: M for Mature (Language, Sexual tones eventual)
“You had what!?”
If one was listening really hard, beyond the sound of low chatter and laughter, the sound of glasses tinkling as they were refreshed with new beverages, they could hear the distinct voice of Nel Descarte before he took a sip out of his own glass of champagne, hand mid grab from the shrimp roll he was about to snatch from a waiters tray.
Nel was handsome in the kind of elite, New York gay art curator way one would suspect. His dark sage suit clung to his copper toned body perfectly, his sinewy frame built out in the fabric. His dark, lustrous hair was gelled back perfectly, his eyebrows trimmed and his hands manicured accentuated by the expensive watch on his wrist. It was Friday night and Sotheby’s Annual Newcomer Gallery had kicked off for the season and Nel, an art curator, had pressed that Ellie and I join him.
He was an old friend of ours, Nel. We had met at NYU our freshman year and the three of us had been as thick as thieves ever since. Ellie had jumped on the opportunity of attending despite her blasé attitude about art - I had been out most of the week and she was getting a bit stir crazy from being at home alone. Ellie, the natural homebody, had taken the opportunity to throw on a simple black sweater dress to compliment the natural curves of her plush body, matching heeled boots to set off the lock. Her wavy brown and gold hair sparkled in the light and like everything else Ellie did, her makeup was immaculate. She giggles into her own glass, her long eyelashes tickling her cheeks as her eyes jump between Nel and I.
“Steve Rogers, the actual Captain America, was making it all but apparent that he was into her and this one over here closed him down.”
Nel looks at me, again, shaking his head and tsking.
“You wasted all of that great potential on what? Principal? Lady love – you don’t allow fate to step in to just push it away.”
I shift my eyes to the portrait we had walked to before, tightening the red shawl that I had loosely thrown around my shoulders closer to me. It was in that moment I wished I had kept my blazer to cover the thin straps of my ivory blouse, to cover up the low v-line of the silk shirt but I had come over to meet the pair straight from work and didn’t want to look business professional. It was bad enough I was stuck with my pencil skirt. So I opted for the shawl that Ellie had brought with her and used it as coverage from my friends judging eyes.
In all reality, I didn’t want to think about Steve Rogers. The whole meeting had gotten underneath my skin more than I cared to acknowledge. The fact of the matter was, Steve was an interesting man. Beyond his obvious handsome features and kind eyes, he had an allure of mystery behind him, this inquisitive knowledge that I wanted to dive into and get to know more and I didn’t know why. Perhaps because of his boldness.
There was something about a man that knew what he wanted and went for it that always got under my skin. Especially if I was the object of that affection.
Which was why, hours later, I had been pissed to realize I let a good thing like that walk out of my life. Having Ellie, and now Nel, remind me of it wasn’t going to help my self-loathing.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” I mumble underneath my breath, taking a long sip of champagne, keeping my eyes focused on the art piece in front of us.
“You don’t want to talk about? Well tough titty honey,” Nel swipes two new glasses just as I’m throwing back the rest of the one I was sipping, exchanging my empty glass for a full one, “You can’t have someone as fine and respective as Steve Rogers hit on you and not expect me to pry.”
I chuckle underneath my breath, shaking my head as I turn to him
“Ellie said it all,” another sip. “Apparently Captain America was hitting on me and I froze up like a goddamn Popsicle.”
Nel watches me speculatively as we move on to a new painting. Its complete trash – literally – it's things that people have thrown away in trash cans glued onto a canvas and then painted over. Ellie squints at it, puckering her red lips before deciding to chug the rest of her champagne and look for another glass and I try to ignore the piercing gaze from Nel. Because I know exactly what he’s thinking.
I never freeze. Not when it comes to a man – an attractive man I am highly attracted to. I was the queen of being a heartbreaker. Not the other way around.
Not usually.
I couldn’t explain to him how it felt different looking into Steve’s baby blues. He had a quiet fierceness to them, a timely knowledge that I felt stripped me to my bare existence. There was more to him than a chiseled face and a need to save the world. More than that shy, golden boy charm that made others swoon. There was something else, I couldn’t put my finger on it and I didn’t like that I couldn’t.
He might actually be a fair match to me.
“You sure it wasn’t all those muscles on top of muscles that got you all tongue tied?” Nel finally asks, his eyes still unwavering and I scoff, looking over at him.
“What do we think of this piece?” I opt to redirect his attention but he doesn’t fall for it. Instead he looks over at it, mimics my earlier scoff, and then returns his attention to me.
“I tire of fake modern artist trying to re-invent modern art.”
“Why? Because it’s not an 18th century French scenic landscape?” I counter and he narrows his eyes at me, shaking his head.
“Don’t come at a champion when you’re still a trainee baby girl.”
“C’mon Ariadne, you know Nel got over that French phase the minute he stopped fucking French boys.” Ellie chimes in, reading the tension and trying to dispel it. I can’t help the laughter that escapes my lips as I wink and nod at her, ignoring the dramatic way Nel cover his heart as he looks between the both of us.
“Don’t make this about me. I’m still grieving Pierre.”
“It’s been three days.” Ellie says pointedly and I nod.
“Three long days….” I echo and he rolls his eyes.
“Don’t make this about me Ariadne. Don’t shift the subject because you were the one too afraid to give the Captain your digits.”
I sigh and move on to the next painting, ignoring the way Nel’s voice trails out after me though he doesn’t follow. He was right of course. So was Ellie. Maybe I was a bit mournful and thus dramatic that I had been a spaz but it didn’t matter. Things always moved in the universe with good reason. I was a year ripe out of my last relationship. Travelled a lot for work. Was trying to help plan my brother and his bride to be’s wedding. The last thing I thought I needed was to get involved with an international celebrity and defender of our planet.
I walk toward the bar, because even though the champagne’s expensive it’s not hitting the spot like I’d want it too. I needed something smooth and bitter…..grey goose vodka with a spritz of lemon and an olive for that extra bite. Ellie had spent the week teasing me about the love story that I could have had and more importantly, the love story she could have had with the Captain’s best friend. Not Sam she made a point to say, Sam was more Nel’s type whatever the fuck that meant. She was bitter I didn’t get closer to Steve to hook her up with Bucky.
Which anyone else might find selfish but I couldn’t hate her for. If the tables were turned, and I wasn’t a closed up clam, I’d probably be the same about Steve.
I’m so lost in thought though, placing my empty glass on the counter that I almost miss him.
He doesn’t miss me.
“Ariadne, right?”
Sam’s voice is smooth like the chocolate skin that covers his body, his irises just a few shades deeper. He has kind eyes, eyes that’s seen too much of the world but refuses to be let down by it. From the little I picked up at breakfast he was light hearted, funny, but knew how to pull out wisdom from humor and I could see why Steve and him were so close.
He was a good compliment to his fairer friend.
“Sam ‘the Falcon’ Wilson…..who would’ve guessed it.”
I lean in for a hug though I don’t know why – we weren’t longtime friends – but Sam doesn’t care and hugs me back earnestly.
“What are you getting?”
I smile as I lean into the bar,
“Extra dry slightly dirty martini.”
“Classy woman,” he signals for the waiter before returning his attention back to me. “What brings you out to such an elite event tonight? You don’t strike me as an art show kind of girl.”
I give a mock scoff though I can’t help the laugh that bubbles out, shaking my head and biting my lip.
“First, I’m a woman – not a girl,” the low oooee that escapes his mouth attracts a little attention as I turn, leaning against the bar and watching my friends who have already forgotten about me, “And secondly, just because I can easily write out the best predictions for next week’s football games – and will probably be 80% right – doesn’t mean I’m not also refined and enjoy on reflecting about nice pieces of art.”
I don’t mean to come off cocky but I knew the things I was good at in life and I hated when men in particular didn’t think I could balance like sports and….being a woman? I don’t know but it’s a trigger, Sam gives an interesting look my way before saying,
“My bad I meant no harm in it.”
We stare each other down, not wavering until Sam cracks a smile, causing the dam of laughter to escape from the both of us.
“I see, I see, you’re pushing your personal biases onto me. I get it. Getting judged as a black female sports writer isn’t what I experience every day of my life.”
“Of course I am. Isn’t that what the man teaches us to do, to deflect our insecurities onto others?” He grabs the bartender’s attention, again, waving them over and quickly ordering before returning his attention back to me.
“I guess they do. Really though, what brings you here? Not to be rude but you don’t strike me as the artist and gallery hopping type.”
He chuckles underneath his breath, nodding before saying,
“Touché. Honestly a friend. I come to support the art and in return I get free drinks,” our drinks arrive just on cue and he careful hands me mine before grabbing his beer, “I have no idea what’s going on most of the time. Or what art I’m looking at.”
I nod as I take a sip, drink in his attire.
“Well you look superb. That’s half of the journey at places like this,” another chuckle out of him, “But to be fair this isn’t that kind of gallery. Occasionally Sotheby’s will host these amateur nights….opportunities for art curators to check out fresh new talent. See if it’s anything they’d be interested in. If so, both parties gain something, a new partnership and new art. If not, there’s always next month.”
Sam eyes glint with something akin to understanding,  that flicker when things start to come together as his mouth shapes into an O.
“Oooooo that makes sooo much sense. I’ve been wondering why I get dragged to these things so often.”
He takes a sip out of his beer, furrowing his eyebrows,
“So you might know a thing or two about art?”
I give a nonchalant shrug, grabbing my drink.
“Maybe a thing or two.”
He nods his head, raising his brows as he looks over at me,
“So… you mind teaching me a thing or two? It would be nice to impress my friend for once; he thinks I never pay attention to these things.”
“Because you don’t.” I counter and he laughs.
“C’mon. I’m trying to pay attention now.”
I give a deep sigh, looking back over at Ellie and Nel who were looking at another painting, un-phased by my disappearing act.
“Why not. I’m a bit over my friends as it is for the moment.”
He offers his arm and smiles at me,
“Perfect.”
Sam Wilson was probably one of the funniest people I have met in a long time.  While I tried to talk him through technique, stroke styles (that phrase I regretted every time it escaped my mouth) and influence he made light of the subject matter, always asking what I would be willing to pay for it. Despite his banter, he was also picking up on some things, and it’s through my second martini that he moves beyond pricing points and more about the themes of the paintings. His interests grow more and more so that by the time we make it to the last painting in the section we are in, we both do so in agreed silence, trying to read the piece.
It’s a painting of a couple leaning into each other, backs to the audience in a tight embrace. They are looking out into the city – a Central Park Manhattan view, with the landscape of skyscrapers evolving through time. Some older, dirtier, industrial influenced carried until a modern time, airplanes flying in the sky and the clean gleam of skyscrapers with current, modern businesses embroidered into the buildings. I can’t see the couples faces but there’s something about it, something that makes me feel…
“Melancholic.” The words pepper out of me as I walk forward to it, drinking in the strokes of the drawing, the careful way each line has been crafted, oil spread. It’s a large painting, about the width of your standard bookcase almost the height of a door but the size just helps lends to the effect of the scene. Dark, gritty with the precipice of hope at its helm. I tell as much to Sam and he nods slowly, his dark eyes looking at me curiously as he asks,
“What else?”
“It makes me sad initially but also hopeful. That there’s greatness in the things that are lost in time and the couple willing to be embraced by it  and it makes me wonder what they think. Why are they stuck in time, unchanging, unmoved, forced to watch time change and unable to change with it. The only security is not being alone….it’s beautiful. Really. A really talented artist must have invested a lot of time into it.”
“Oh he did…”
Sam chuckles as I snap my head to him and ask,
“You know who drew this?”
“Yea of course I do. It’s my buddy who keeps entering these things….”
I raise an eyebrow, moving back to look at him.
“He’s entered pieces like this and no one hasn’t asked him to create more….this is top of the line. Far better than a lot of the things here that are just asking and begging to be selected, to scream that they are not alone, to show that they are original. You telling me that he’s rejected big shot names just to continue to submit paintings?”
Sam laughs, taking a long sip of his beer.
“Yeah.”
I watch him, before returning my eyes back at the drawing. Trying to understand the artist by trying to understand the art. The way the hand of the man clutches the woman, almost squeezing her as it appears her hand falls lightly on his. The way she leans into him gently and I can imagine her calming him, assuring him it’s okay. Women adapted a lot better than men, they must, they carry life and it’s the only way to guarantee that life will move on. It’s all here, in this frame, fear and uncertainty and insecurity that is hidden behind confidence, ease.
“Your friend must want to be heard. To share what he’s unable to say then. Not a starving artist by choice, but a selective artist because he wants to breath truth. But for who…it’s hard to say.”
Sam leans in a bit.
“What do you mean?” he’s looking at the painting again, deeply like me and I take another sip.
“I can’t tell if the artist is trying to unveil some truth about human experience for other humans, or trying to unpack their experiences, trying to grapple with what were all trying to understand I’m being human. I don’t know…seems complicated this piece. Is the artist complicated?”
“Like a goddamn rubix cube,” Sam mutters but now his eyes are drinking it in. “I just thought it was about the loss of things.”
“Sure it’s about loss. But there’s something deeper. There’s not sorrow over this loss or change. There’s fear and maybe a sprinkle of sadness but not sorrow. There’s an understanding that things flow differently – they change and you can’t fight it. And the artist is trying to understand what that means for the world. What it means for them. Its complex…..it makes you question things. It’s making me question things. Which is why it’s melancholic. But what do I know…I just get trashed helping my friend select painting I think would be good for his gallery.”
I shrug as I take another sip stepping backwards. So focused on the painting that I hadn’t realized that someone has walked up behind me, until my backs pressed into their chest and I lean my head back, resting my head against the defined muscles as my eyes fall into ocean blue orbs.
Oh.
Steve Rogers was dangerous in his star spangled uniform. Was even more achingly attractive in street clothes.
Nothing could have warned me for this man in a suit.
It’s not even a full suit, nice pressed pants. A nice, crisp dark blue shirt that did wonders for his eyes. A simple black tie.
It’s enough to make my breath hitch, to cause me to squeeze my thighs together so I’m not unloading a gallon of my attraction onto the gallery floor. I’m flustered as he captures me easily, steadying me and the arm that holds my martini as his other hand finds my hip. The vodka is strong, it allows his cologne to overwhelm my senses and to allow myself to relax under his touch, to fall back onto him with ease as my eyes drink in his chiseled jawline and his pulse point from beating against his neck. I wanted to mark him, to claim him for my own and the thought jostles me.
“Oh! I’m sorry…I didn’t mean to….”
I’m at a loss for words, again, as I blink up at him stupidly but he simply smiles back at me gently, eyes unwavering as his hand that isn’t on my hips slowly trails up my arm, causing goosebumps in its wake.
Shit. Too much vodka. I had too much fucking vodka and champagne in my system for this kind of intimate touch.
“Don’t worry about it. Not every day I get to run into a beautiful woman twice in one week.”
His voice is low and light, humorous and gravely and I bite my lip subconsciously, causing his eyes to flicker down to it before they are returning to my own.
I’m sure I had fuck me eyes all over my face and the realization makes me blush, embarrassed out of my goddamn mind. Drunk flirting with Steve Rogers wasn’t going to make my self-pity cause any better.
“I’m really not this high maintenance. I was just admiring this.” my eyes flash back toward the painting.
He smiles, his eyes breaking from mine and looking over at the painting and nods.
“I heard.”
“Y…you did?” I force myself to push my forehead off his chest, from the confines of his arms. Away from him and though I still feel like I’m swimming I’m able to steady my mind, trying to push the smell of his cologne from my memory and clear my throat.
“Super soldier hearing.” Sam says, rolling his eyes though he smiles at me and I narrow my eyes at him. He knew. He fucking knew the whole damn time that Steve was lurking.
This was a goddamn set up.
“You have an artist eye. You sure you aren’t a curator. Or a secret artist?”
Steve is still too close to me, his arms brushing against my own and I shrug, shaking my head.
“No, no, not even if I tried. But I have this good friend of mine, and he works for the Met and he really knows his shit and you know he’s taught me a thing or two.”
“Just a thing or two?” he raises a speculative eye before another deeper voice booms across the space.
“Steve! Sam! There you are.”
The man that strolls over is tall, about as tall as Steve and Sam. In this space, with its suits and nice dresses, he stands out with the dark Henley he’s rolled up to his elbows, dark jeans to match. His hair is longer than Steve’s, brushing against his neckline and his beard is in a scruff, cool blue eyes dancing between our group. I would be lying if i didn’t say that James “Bucky” Barnes wasn’t attractive. He was the kind of charming bad boy that i wanted to get under your skin for a few months and then let each other loose for both your sanity.
I could see easily why Ellie was attracted to him.
“Well, well, well, who do we have here?” his voice is huskier than Steve’s, smoother and has a twist of charming wickedness as he smiles down at me. It makes my heart palpitate for a few seconds, makes my breath hitch a second.
This man would destroy Ellie.
….I needed their pairing to happen.
“Steve, you didn’t tell me you were going to leave to go flirt with some cute dame.”
“Oh brother.” Sam snorts, finishing his beer and rolling his eyes as I extend my hand out,
“You must be the famous Winter Soldier.”
He flinches from the words, but doesn’t skip a beat to grab my hand, his lips skimming against the sensitive flesh as a smile stays on his face,
“Must be. And who are you?”
I take a sip out of my martini, finishing the last drip as I pull my hand away,
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”
He raises an eyebrow, looking over at Steve who is watching curiously.
“She’s a fireball.” He says, amused and Steve nods in agreement,
“She’s something.”
“And she’s also still standing in front of you. Now you’re boring me and I’m out of a drink. So maybe work on that game of yours while I go and get another.”
I walk away, aware that they are both staring at me, trying my best to keep up my most confident stride despite the alcohol swimming in my body.
How did I go from no prospects in my morning to three handsome men in the evening?
The universe had a funny way with playing with my heart.

Erase My Regrets
holy shit the second chapter already!! i have so much time on my hands so i use it to write i guess, during the week i probably won’t post chapters frequently. school sucks. anyway, this chapter might suck because i kept procrastinating. enjoy anyway!
part one here
Jason Dean. Who was he? Veronica stared at the name written on the piece of paper that seemed the be wrinkled on the edges. She could’ve sworn there were tear marks. There were dots scattered around the paper where the color of the paper had faded from the tears hitting the paper. What was so special about this Jason Dean?
The young woman sat at her desk, her chocolate hues staring out the window and blinding herself with the bright sunlight shining through. IT was a beautiful day and Martha invited her over to go out and shop, possibly head over to the park and grab some lunch. She agreed to do so.
Veronica had turned down Harvard, Duke, and even Brown. She felt that it was best to go to a community college somewhere close to Sherwood. After everything she’d been through, she felt that maybe she didn’t deserve to go to a superior university.
They were accidents for fucks sake. She didn’t mean to give the cup to her best friend yet worst enemy, she didn’t know they were real bullets, she didn’t want to watch him blow up. Veronica curled up at night even ten years later from those accidents, shrinking in on herself and cursing her thoughts. If all that bullshit hadn’t happened, would she be happy?
Oh Martha. Veronica to this day still felt guilty for her wrongdoings towards Martha, her best friend since diapers. How would she do something like that? Veronica had craved to be like the Heathers yet to only kill the supreme leader. Although, she had forgiven Heather McNamara. The sweetheart stuck with Veronica during her rough times and Martha had soon come to love the Heather. They seemed to be the best of friends and Veronica, Heather, and Martha always tuned into the Princess Bride on Friday nights. Heather was busy today and Veronica couldn’t blame her. They were adults now. They grew up. Veronica’s regrets grew with her.
Her eyes looked down to the dozens of papers scattered on her desk. She tried her best to listen to her counselor who still believed that Veronica was merely affected by the ‘suicides’ and death of her boyfriend.
“You like to write poems right? Maybe writing down your thoughts and feelings will help.” Veronica’s counselor had told her. She must’ve thought it was silly how Veronica needed help even after ten years. Ten years. She tried to write poems but always turned to her diary. The poems reminded her too much of the ‘baudelaire-quoting-bad-ass’.
Instead, Veronica picked up her pen and slid one of the pieces of paper closer. She sighed and wrote the first few letters that she had written in weeks.
“September 1st, 1989”
The past three weeks were amazing for Veronica. The Heathers took her shopping but many snarky comments about Veronica’s wardrobe were thrown around. They had came over to Veronica’s house and threw out anything that “looked like an 80 year old woman’s clothing”, Heather Chandler’s words. Now her drawers and closet were filled with short skirts, revealing dresses, blouses, and blazers. At least they were some shade of blue.
She had nearly forgotten about the letter she was sent on the first day of school. It was when she was digging through her desk’s drawers and the crumpled envelope caught her eye. Veronica pulled out the first paper in the envelope and read the date.
“September 22nd, 1989”
“Oh yeah, it skipped the past three weeks,” Veronica said to herself as she read on. What would happen today? The sense of familiarity washed over Veronica as she read the first bullet point.
Today is the day Jason Dean walked into my life.
Veronica bit her lip and glanced at the other bullet points. He must be important if she had to point the fact out in her letter.
The Heathers ask you to forge a note from Ram Sweeney. It’s for Martha.
I let them give the note to Martha out of pressure. I was against the idea but Duke snatched it out of my hands.
She furrowed her eyebrows. Shit, she would forge a note in Ran’s handwriting? Martha has been crushing on the dickhead ever since kindergarten. Martha and Veronica weren’t exactly the closest of friends anymore due to Veronica joining the Heathers but she wouldn’t want to hurt Martha. It would crush her if she found out it wasn’t from Ram himself.
I want you to instantly tell Martha that it isn’t from Ram politely. If she feels bad about it, be there for her. One of my biggest regrets is hurting her, Veronica. Please. It will cause a lot less damage than what happened if I hadn’t told her.
The thing with these letters that bugged Veronica was the longing and curiosity of what would happen if she didn’t follow these requests. Her life probably would have gone the way it was supposed to. “No, you have to erase your future selves regrets,” Veronica reminded herself as she clutched the letter in her hands.
You’ll meet Jason Dean after this happens. You’ll also be going to Ram Sweeney’s homecoming party with the Heathers. I don’t regret going. Go and have fun.
You’re no longer a virgin.
Her eyes widened at the last bullet point. Holy shit, Veronica had never really thought of sex. Well, she had. Heather Chandler told her to consider it now that she was apart of the group that most horny high schoolers looked up to and fantasized about. Hell, her mother even suggested to have Veronica on the pill. She reluctantly allowed it just in case. The letter didn’t specify who she’d lose her v-card to, great.
It was a bit exciting to know, if she had to be honest. To be a part of the Heathers you should have fun and go wild at parties right? Hitting third base just might be the best thing she’ll ever experience. And it was.
At lunch, Heather Chandler requested— no, demanded Veronica to forge a note to Martha in Ram’s handwriting. Veronica went along with this, the note said nothing about not forging the note. She was told to talk to Martha after giving the note. Veronica let things play out, instinctively getting defensive and very much intimidated as Heather Chandler threatened her.
“I let you into this candy store, you can’t just run out with all the goods in your hand can you?” Heather had asked her with a scoff and death glare. All that was set on Veronica’s mind was to follow the letters words.
The Heathers were preoccupied with Kurt and Ram. Veronica saw this as her chance to tell Martha about the stupid letter and how it was forged. Martha was a forgiving person, even present day Veronica knew this. In third grade, Veronica had broken one of Martha’s favorite unicorn toys which had Martha cry for hours. After all the tears, Martha still forgave Veronica. Roni could only hope it was the same case in senior year. She was little ways down the hall until a voice spoke to her.
“Why’d you bow down to those swatch dogs and diet coke heads? They’ll crush that poor girl,” an almost bored tone was evident in the person’s voice. Veronica stopped reluctantly as she watched Martha enthusiastically bounce down the hall. She turned her head and her eyes caught the dark brown hues of a teenage boy leaning against the wall.
She blinked and cleared her throat, glancing back at Martha who was now merely a figure in the distance and back to the male. “That’s what I’m trying to fix right now,” Veronica huffed out as she crossed her arms.
“Ah, so you have a soul. Just gotta work on keeping it pure,” he said with a smug smirk as he pushed himself off the wall. Now standing up straight, Veronica noticed the great height difference between them. She was merely five foot three, he had to be at least six feet. “‘We are all born marked for evil,’” the man said as he ‘booped’ Veronica’s nose softly. He began to walk away from the teenage girl until Veronica spoke, clearly smitten.
“Excuse me— don’t just quote Baudelaire then walk away. I uh… didn’t catch your name,” Veronica said as she cracked a small smile towards the male.
“I didn’t throw it,” he returned the smile but his seemed to have the ‘bad boy smugness’ behind it. Veronica’s mouth went agape as she blushed to herself, the teenage boy now walking away from her as she was clearly swooning over him.
“Oh shit, Martha!” Veronica reminded herself and she scurried down the hall to find the girl clad in the familiar pink unicorn sweater. She finally spotted Martha sitting outside of the school on the bench, the letter in her hands and a huge grin plastered on her face. It almost made Veronica stop in her tracks and debate with herself if this was what she should truly do. Martha was happy. Then she remembered what the letter had said, it was better than what Martha would experience if Veronica hadn’t done anything. Veronica walked over to the teenage girl on the bench, a smile formed by the curl of her lips.
“Hey Martha,” she said softly as she sat beside her on the bench. Martha turned her head away from the piece of paper and an expression of giddiness was clear on her features.
“Oh hi Veronica. You truly are looking beautiful these days,” she commented and gestured to Veronica’s outfit. Veronica gave her a nod and laughed lightly.
“Same me, I swear. Uhm, could we talk?” Veronica asked timidly as she scratched the back of her ear. She wondered how to put her words together and most definitely how Martha would react.
“Sure, what about?”
“Ah, about that.” She gestured towards the paper in Martha’s hands. Veronica took a deep breath and delicately took Martha’s hand. “That note… wasn’t written by Ram. I forged it. The Heathers wanted me to but I didn’t want to give it to you. They had me writing it before they told me it was for you. I’m sorry, Martha. It’s better than going to the party when you weren’t really invited right?” Veronica flinched at her own words. They had came out politely and softly but it still had a sense of rudeness. She watched as Martha’s face fell and she looked down at the letter, her eyes scanning the handwriting.
“Oh. So… Ram didn’t write this? He doesn’t think about me?” Martha asked in a disappointed tone. Veronica instantly felt sorry for the emotions her words had inflicted. She straightened up and quickly shook her head.
“No no, Martha. He could still have the same feelings for you. It’s just that this letter— it wasn’t true. Please, I’m warning you. Don’t go to the homecoming party. I do not want them to hurt you, Martha.” Veronica pleaded and Martha sighed, a sad smile then formed on her face.
“Okay, I won’t,” she said with a small nod of her head. Veronica hugged her but it didn’t feel like the ones they shared before. This one seemed more distant.
“I promise I won’t miss out on next week’s movie night. I’ll find some way to come over,” Veronica reassured her friend but she couldn’t promise anything when it came to friends especially now that she was with the Heathers.
Martha was about to speak until the sounds of students yelling and cheering rang out from inside the school. It was that loud that you could hear from the courtyard outside of school. Martha and Veronica both looked over at the doors of their high school. They glanced at each other and nodded, both beginning to run over to the doors of the school and they pushed them open to find the teenage boy Veronica was talking to being harassed by Kurt and Ram.
Veronica pushed through the crowd and Martha stood by in the back of the crowd, not wanting to get involved. Although, she was worried about Ram even if he was a dickhead to most people. Martha saw the good in him.
Veronica somehow got through the crowd and was now in the front. She didn’t want to interfere but she knew it could get ugly with Kurt and Ram. Suddenly, the male in the big, old, black trench coat smacked Ram in the face with the dense book her had been reading. The ‘ooh’ed as this happened and the Heathers watched with wide eyes and mouths open agape as their regular boy toys began getting their ass kicked. As Veronica watched the Baudelaire-quoting-bad-ass teach the two jocks a lesson, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of respect and admiration. Her eyes couldn’t leave the man as he punched Ram straight in the face. Everybody seemed to be cheering and whooping but all Veronica could do was stare dumbfounded with a huge grin on her face. The brunette asked herself, would this boy fight for her? He seemed to capture her heart and sights by punching some jackass in the face which did not happen often. Veronica and the crowd of students watched as Ram felt to the floor in defeat and Kurt tried to take a swing at the trench coat kid. He failed miserably.
She watched in astonishment as the boy took Kurt’s head in his hands and bashed their heads together, no sign of pain on his face whatsoever but with Kurt it was a different story. Teachers and staff had come out to the scene and were trying to push through the crowd of teenagers to see what was going on. By the time the principal had gotten to the front, Kurt was on the floor, clearly in pain. “Holy shit!” The students had yelled out as the victorious winner stood up, running a hand through his hair. Veronica’s eyes followed him and watched as he was dragged away from the crowd. The principal did not seem happy at all.
Was this Jason Dean?

What to Wear to a Winery (Your Ultimate Style Guide for Winery Outfits)
What to Wear to a Winery
Wine tasting always makes for a good time! When delicious wine, breathtaking views, fun people and perfect weather surround you, the last thing you want to worry about is your outfit. That is why I put together this ultimate guide on what to wear to a winery. This style guide will not only answer what to wear wine tasting but also go over many style tips, outfit ideas, what to wear during different seasons and it’s full of outfit photos!
To start, let’s review some general winery outfit style tips. These are tips that apply to all of your wine tasting outfits no matter location or season! Keep these ten style tips handy when you’re packing for your wine region adventure.
1. Wear Comfortable Shoes: If you’re planning to sign up for a wine tour or have a long list of wineries you plan to visit, wear comfortable shoes. But comfortable doesn’t have to be sneakers. Instead of sneakers, wear flat sandals, wedges, loafers, or even some nice slides. Also take into consideration which wineries you will be visiting which means you might be walking in grass, dirt, gravel or cobblestone.
2. Go Hands-Free and Small with Your Purse: When you’re wine tasting, you will be walking around a lot, holding and reading brochures, tasting cheeses or chocolates, and of course, holding various wine glasses. So it’s best to wear a fuss-free bag. Also, if you carry a purse without a strap, you run the risk of leaving it behind or setting it down without keeping an eye on it. The best purse to wear to a winery is a small crossbody bag, like the super stylish Mini Marcie from Chloe, the classic Soho Disco bag from Gucci, or mini monogram crossbody from Saint Laurent.
3. Layer a Blazer or Cute Denim Jacket: If your winery outfit is looking a little simple, add a stylish layer. Depending on the season you could wear a denim jacket in the summer, a floral blazer in the spring, a long cardigan in the fall and a coat in the winter. Make sure this layer is not too bulky as you want to move freely no matter the season.
4. Go More Dressy Than Casual: Leave your leggings at home! Even though wineries are basically farms in the country, don’t think you can throw on jeans and a t-shirt and call it a day (unless of course you want to, but you wouldn’t be reading this post if you did). Opt for a little more dressy than casual. I still think that wine tasting is a pretty posh activity, so I try always to dress nice and classy. If you’re wondering how it is that you can dress classy read, How to Dress Classy – 7 Style Tips You Need to Know.
5. Low Maintenance Hair: Your wine tasting attire includes your hair so wear your hair up or style it in a way that doesn’t need maintenance throughout your wine tasting activities. If you’re planning on being out all day on the wine trail, I would suggest putting your hair up in a ponytail or bun. This way you won’t have to worry about it getting frizzy, going flat, and you won’t have to mess with it during your wine tasting tour. If I have some extra time in the morning, I’ll blowdry it, so it looks nice down.
6. Wear Chapstick: The main activity while wine tasting is drinking wine so instead of lipstick wear chapstick. You don’t want always to be checking your lipstick or re-applying when you get to the car. Keep it simple and wear chapstick.
7. Skip the Strong Perfume: You will be smelling a lot of wine trying to decipher what notes are most prominent, and you don’t want other smells interfering so skip the perfume! Not wearing perfume is also courtesy the group you’re wine tasting with and other guests in the wine tasting room or cave.
8. Wear a Pretty Print: If you need to bring some interest to your wine tasting outfit, swap a solid for a print. Instead of a solid blue dress, wear a dress with horizontal stripes like in my outfit example below. Wear a floral shirt in the spring, stripes in the summer, plaids & tartans in the fall and houndstooth in the winter.
9. Easy is Better: Don’t wear an outfit that is too high maintenance. What you wear to a winery needs to be comfortable and stylish, but remember point four, nothing too casual either.
10. Don’t Be Afraid to Wear White: There’s nothing wrong with wearing white to a winery. I have worn white jeans wine tasting, just see my outfit examples below. If you know you spill a lot, then I would suggest skipping the white.
What to Wear Wine Tasting in Different Seasons
When going on a vacation to Napa Valley, there are many choices to make. You need to consider where you’ll stay, which wineries you’ll visit, the time of year you’ll go, and what you’ll pack.
Packing the appropriate wine tasting attire is not necessarily tricky; you need to consider the locations you’ll be visiting and the time of year you’ll be going.
My favorite seasons to visit wine country is spring and fall because it’s not too hot or too cold. You don’t have to worry about sweating or getting sunburned. If you’re planning a trip to Napa Valley, I would suggest one of these to seasons. But let’s go over what you need to consider for each season and what to wear wine tasting in the spring, fall, summer, and winter.
What to Wear to a Winery in the Spring
The weather in Napa during the springtime ranges from the high 60s to low 70s during the day and mid to upper 40s in the morning and evening.
Napa Valley in May is chilly in the mornings and evenings, but the daytime temperature is perfect. Perfect to me is the 70’s, so if you like it a little warmer during the day, I would recommend waiting until last spring or early summer to visit Napa Valley.
In the spring pack more sweaters than you expect. Keep the sweaters handy in your car if you don’t plan on going back to the hotel before going to dinner. It’s also useful to keep them in the car when the tasting room is too cold or if you want to enjoy a glass of wine outside in the winery patio and it’s too breezy.
What to Wear to a Winery in the Summer
Summer in Napa Valley is pretty warm and sunny but this is what draws so many people from around California and beyond because it’s so beautiful! The temperature in the summer ranges from 80s–90s during the day and can cool down to the mid-50s at night.
In the summer opt for light colors, pretty prints, in light fabrics. Instead of jeans, wear skirts, shorts, and dresses.
If you do want to wear pants wear chinos instead of jeans. Chinos are very comfortable because it’s not very thick and not too tight. These two things would make this wine tasting trip very uncomfortable.
What to Wear to a Winery in the Fall
September is my favorite time of the year to go wine tasting because the mornings and evenings are crisp, but not too cold, and the temperatures during the day range from the 80s–90s. It’s the end of summer but not entirely fall. It’s the perfect time to enjoy a glass of wine on a winery patio or deck and take in the gorgeous views.
But fall is also one of the busiest times to visit Napa Valley because it’s harvest time. Harvest in the wine regions means the grapes are getting picked from the vines and many wine enthusiasts travel from all around to enjoy harvest events and special activities. Make sure to plan accordingly.
What to Wear to a Winery in the Winter
The most significant difference before spring or fall and winter, in addition to the temperature, is the crowds. If you’ve visited Napa Valley in the busy months, you know what I’m referring to regarding the masses. The tasting room at wineries is ten people deep, and you have to make your way to the counter. In the winter Napa has an entirely different feel, it’s peaceful, quiet and you have some places all to yourself.
In terms of weather, it gets pretty chilly in the evenings. Temperatures go down into the high 30’s in the evenings and during the day are in the mid to upper 50’s. I would pack plenty of layers because it can get warm in wineries.
If you’re planning on going wine tasting in the winter here are a few things to consider.
Just like any other time of year, wear comfortable footwear. You’ll be walking and on your feet, a lot so wear flat shoes or shoes with a thick stacked heel. This type of shoe is best for days filled with wine tasting and tours.
Make sure to bring a comfortable and warm sweater. If you decide to wear a thinner sweater, then layer on a coat. But if you don’t want to lug around a large jacket wear a very warm sweater instead. In the outfit example below I wore a thick olive green turtleneck sweater. I love the oversized collar and distinct fabric patterns; it brings texture and dimensions to an otherwise simple outfit.
With the large sweater and high black boots, I wore light colored skinny jeans. Remember; the balance is critical. (Read How to Look Stylish Every day – Your 5 Step Checklist to learn more about creating a balanced outfit). The boots are thick and heavy so to balance the boots I wore jeans on the lighter side instead of charcoal or black. I also wanted the shoes to stand out, and if I had worn black jeans, you wouldn’t have even noticed the boots.
It’s best to wear thinner skinny jeans with high boots such as the ones I’m wearing because you want the boots to fit snugly around your calves. The last thing you want is your jeans bunching up around your ankles.
You might have noticed a theme in the notes I mentioned. Comfort is key. You can be stylish and comfortable; you don’t have to sacrifice one or the other.
Wine Tasting Outfits
There are a variety of stylish wine tasting outfits you can wear to wine destinations such as Napa. The variation exists because of activities, weather, and destination. The two critical details that you need to make sure these outfits are stylish and comfortable.
If you’ve been wine tasting, you know that there is a lot of standing, walking, and more standing involved. You need to wear an outfit that is comfortable with these various activities.
When putting together an outfit find a middle ground. An outfit that is not too dressy but not too casual either. You’ll need to wear a wine tasting outfit that you can wear all day and smoothly transition into evening dinner if you don’t plan on going back to your hotel to change. Wine Tasting Outfits
Neutral Wine Tasting Outfit
The first wine tasting outfit is a blend of neutrals and one gorgeous printed top. The halter top is the main piece in this look, and the olive green cargos and wedges are the shirts supporting items. The cargo pants downplay the fancy, and the wedges keep the pants looking classy. With the natural color palette, this outfit is in its perfect setting.
The blouse has a pretty nature pattern which added the right amount of interest without it being an overpowering single piece. This outfit has a delicate balance of stylish but casual which I was able to achieve with the color and fabric choices.
A neutral outfit to wear wine tasting goes perfectly with this wine country activity since it’s such a relaxing atmosphere and the landscape of most wineries are earth-toned. This outfit will also work with flats or sandals if wedges are not your favorite thing to wear wine tasting.
If you’re wondering what to wear wine tasting remember: month, location and landscape. Put together a stylish and comfortable look and bring an extra pair of shoes just in case.
Stylish Wine Tasting Outfit
For a stylish approach consider a striped shirtdress. In this outfit, I went with a look that was more “dressy” but still had the feel of a casual weekend look. The relaxed fit of the dress and the strips make this dress wine tasting appropriate. I know wearing heels while wine tasting is taboo, but I couldn’t help but wear those gorgeous laser cut heels. The two paired perfectly together.
I know what some of you might be thinking, “you’ll spill red wine on the white,” but take it from someone that spills a lot, you can wear white wine tasting as I mentioned in the ten style tips at the start of this post.
This shirtdress is both stylish and comfortable. All you need is a few accessories and a cute pair of shoes.
Monochrome Wine Tasting Outfit
When a lot of walking is involved consider a cute pair of sandals. Remember I said cute pair of sandals, not flip flops. Keep it stylish even though you’re toning it down. With these casual wine tasting outfits make sure you have a focus point and something that still keeps the outfit classy.
In this third outfit, the sandals were the contrasting pop of color to the blue monochrome outfit. When wearing pants and a blouse of very similar color make sure the pieces are made from different fabrics. This top is a different material and hue of blue from the pants. The shiny silk looks excellent against the muted blue chinos. The blue structured patent handbag gives this casual wine tasting outfit structure, and again it’s a different material and color from the other two blues in this outfit.
Remember when you want to wear the same colors in one outfit, select different materials with a slight change in color, that can also mean shiny. In this outfit, the pants are muted, the silk top has a sheen to it, and the handbag is shiny.
Cute Wine Tasting Attire
The last outfit is something that would work for wine tasting locations where walking on dirt would be minimal. Overall it’s a cute and casual look, and the patterned pants added some individuality, and the heels dressed it up a bit.
Since the pants are very busy, I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit neutral. I paired these patterned pants with a blouse that matches one of the colors from the pattern.
With this chiffon blouse and a basic tee in the same color, I layered the light chiffon blouse over the shirt and created an airy, pretty layered look. The pop of color in this look was the handbag and the orange heels. These colors work well together because they’re all in the warm color family. The browns and oranges with a splash of red are appealing to the eye and come together nicely.
Planning Your Trip to Napa Valley
Wine tasting in Napa is a unique experience in my list of favorite places to visit. Napa brings together so many beautiful things that I love, from good food and wine to gorgeous landscapes and a relaxing environment to disconnect from the day-to-day.
With more than 400 wineries (600+ if you count Sonoma) you are sure to find a wine that you’ll love while wine tasting in Napa. If you are limited in time, at most you’d be able to visit 15 wineries during a weekend, well maybe you could do more, but I wouldn’t advise it because you’ll get too tired or too drunk.
My advice is to do some research ahead of time and make a list of the wineries you want to visit. There are popular locations like Sterling Vineyards, Beringer Vineyards, Beaulieu Vineyard, and Castello di Amorosa. But there are smaller gems where you can maybe find the best Merlot you’ve ever had. If this is your first time visiting this wine region make sure to read my guide on The Best Napa Valley Wineries for First-Time Visitors
The style of trip you wish to experience should help determine the tasting rooms you visit. If you want an intimate visit where you get to talk to the winemakers and learn insights into what makes their wine special than I would look for smaller tasting rooms.
If you’re looking to see castles, take a ride at Sterlings ariel tram and see where the most famous wines from Napa come from then I would organize a route for the larger vineyards.
Peter and I have visited the famous wineries and the smaller ones during our wine tasting trips in Napa. This September we made an effort to visit smaller vineyards with cozier atmospheres, but we deviate by visiting Beringer Vineyards to have a tasting of there reserve wine and of course a cheese plate.
We tend to plan, but if you’re wine tasting without any specific plan that works too. You can start driving and stop at the first place that looks appealing.
I hope you now know what to wear to a winery and these style tips help you put together cute wine tasting outfits.

My Favorite Places to Shop Vintage in New York
http://fashion-trendin.com/my-favorite-places-to-shop-vintage-in-new-york/
My Favorite Places to Shop Vintage in New York
My closet is almost entirely secondhand. I nearly always travel with inconvenient vintage luggage (it has rapidly accumulated in my bedroom since the release of Moonrise Kingdom), despite my boyfriend’s gentle reminders that “there’s a reason luggage has evolved.” My shower rod is constantly draped with my drying vintage dresses because I don’t trust washing machines with them. A vintage wardrobe can be cumbersome, but it’s also environmentally friendly, relatively inexpensive and irreplaceable.
Within my first 24 hours of moving to New York, I had already Googled the closest vintage shops to my new apartment. I dropped pins on my maps app, eager to explore New York’s offerings of tulle dresses and high-waist jeans. What I did not know at the time was how the vintage shops of New York (and the people who run them) would provide me with so much more than gorgeous collections of clothing to sift through. In this sprawling metropolis, vintage shops have served as my oasis of comfort, proving that delicate things can be beautifully preserved and passed on between the strangers that inhabit this wild, wonderful mess of a city.
My archive of vintage havens has grown to the point where it can no longer fit inside a mental note, so I finally decided to write it all down in one place. Keep scrolling to read about my personal favorite places to shop secondhand in New York, and tell me your favorites in the comments.
Williamsburg 197 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY
Every time I watch Sex and the City, I am inspired by Carrie’s commitment to dressing fabulously, even when she’s home alone. I find myself daydreaming about becoming the type of woman who wears vintage slips and long strings of pearls while lounging solo in my apartment. If you, too, have these sartorial fantasies, Le Grand Strip is your spot. It’s a lot like how I imagine the dressing room of a burlesque show might look: full of giant gold-framed mirrors, peacocks, chandeliers and other fancy delights. Whether it’s a cotton shift dress, a lace teddy or a double-breasted suit that makes you feel like your best self, this place has all the feel-good outfits perfect for wearing both inside and out of your apartment.
Williamsburg 223 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Amarcord is known for its sublime window designs, which never fail to make me smile on my commute home. Fortunately the inside lives up to the outside, offering a highly curated collection of the best in jewelry, accessories and clothing for women and men. Their sourcing is based in Italy, and the list of labels they carry includes Gucci, Prada, Chloe, Dior, Oscar de la Renta and Diane Von Furstenberg, to name a few. Amarcord’s owners have an acute sense of current trends and know how to style their vintage wares to match them. You can often find the shop’s co-owner, Marco, manning the store. He is passionate about Amarcord’s collection and gives great styling advice. While photographing his shop, I discovered a sweet pair of eggshell Salvatore Ferragamo sandals in my size. Marco told me that “there is nothing as classy as vintage Ferragamo,” and I couldn’t disagree. I purchased them.
Williamsburg and Greenpoint 132 N 5th St, Brooklyn, NY, with one other location at 688 Manhattan Ave
Awoke is the holy grail of vintage basics. There are piles of denim, floral patterned skirts and a range of T-shirts. This is the place to go if you’re looking for layering staples and comfortable, everyday pieces. They also carry a few statement items, like the mint green suit I purchased a while back that is both comfy and makes me feel like Cate Blanchett. What more could I ask for from an outfit?
Thriftwares at the Artists and Fleas Market
Williamsburg and Soho 70 N 7th St, Brooklyn; other location at 568 Broadway St., New York
Thriftwares has two locations, both of which are permanent merchants in the Artists and Fleas markets in Soho and Williamsburg. Thriftwares has everything from classic white blouses to your dream Gatsby party dress. They also have a variety of unique outerwear and summer “It” bags I haven’t seen anywhere else. I purchased a vintage Burberry blazer there a while back, and my mother literally screamed in delight when I wore it home last week.
Although Thriftwares’ aesthetic varies from piece to piece, everything is both unique and well-kept.
Williamsburg and Chelsea 135 N 7th St Brooklyn, NY 11249; other location at 24 W 26th St
The majority of Crossroads’ wares are from secondhand contemporary brands. It’s one of those places that requires some scavenging, but the payoff can be huge. My best find so far was a Ganni sweater I had been eyeing online. I purchased it for a fraction of the retail price.
Greenpoint 285 N 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211
10 Ft Single by Stella Dallas consists of one large room of secondhand goods and another large room of genuine vintage goods. Next door, there’s Stella Dallas Living, which carries vintage fabrics, carpets, a wall full of buttons and some of the store’s finer vintage dresses and shoes. Everything is well-organized and reasonably priced.
East Williamsburg 320 Graham Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Known to Man carries dresses that range in formality from casual picnic lunch to swanky cocktail hour. The last time I went to this shop, my mom was in town and generously gifted me the most amazing vintage beaded backless dress I’ve ever seen. I wore it to an event in the New York Botanical Gardens, and it was possibly the highlight of my life:
The owner, Giselle, has a keen eye for knowing which items will pair well together, like these blue silk pants and this ‘60s beaded top:
East Williamsburg 137 Montrose Ave, Brooklyn NY
Olly Olly Oxen has the feeling of a well-loved home. There’s an old desk filled with vintage magazines and cassettes and dried flowers hanging above the entrance. It is also home to a collection of unworn 1971 India Imports of Rhode Island designer wear from Woodstock. If you’re looking for a unique outfit to wear to a summer music festival, this is your place.
Bushwick 232 Varet Street, Brooklyn NY
Risk is physically impossible to miss if you happen to walk by. It’s basically Barbie’s chic apartment, complete with Marilyn Monroe pillows out front, a spiral staircase adorned with beach hats and walls covered in spectacular art made by the owner herself, Lindsay Risk. Inside, there are contemporary goods seamlessly sprinkled among the vintage gems. If you’ve ever watched Uptown Girls and craved Molly’s wardrobe/accessories/apartment, Risk will easily satisfy those cravings.
Union Square, Park Slope, Bushwick and Greenpoint
A thrifting expedition would not be complete without a stop at Beacon’s Closet. When it comes to finding a good deal, this place takes the cake. Each of the circular racks is conveniently color-coded and chock full of vintage and consignment goods that vary in style, size and time period.
Bushwick 117 Wilson Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Based on the outfits of Worship’s clientele, it’s clear this is a favorite store amongst vintage connoisseurs — no surprise since the racks are constantly replenished with an abundance of statement pieces. From vintage couture to label-less handmade garments, everything is perfectly curated.
Bushwick 16 Wilson Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Collections looks like your quirky aunt’s hypothetical beach house and has the clothing to match. Whether you’re taking a weekend away from the city or just want to feel like you are, Collections has the goods to put you in vacation mode. The shop is an alcove of serenity, perfect for a leisurely browse.
Locations all over New York (favorites on 143 W 17th St, 157 E 23rd St and 130 Crosby St)
Housing Works is full of well-kept secondhand wares from a multitude of well-known brands. I once got a great deal on this white Armani dress:
It’s the perfect vintage stop for office-appropriate outfits, a dinner party dress or a pair of shoes from a brand you already know and love. If you’re in the mood to spiff up your apartment, Housing Works also carries home goods, furniture and artwork. Proceeds go towards fighting AIDS and homelessness.
West Village 240 W 10 St, Manhattan, NY
Madame Matovu is a quaint, tasteful and cozy gem located in the heart of the West Village. The curator and owner, Rosemary, is as warm and welcoming as her shop. Rosemary fills every surface with dainty knick-knacks, so although the shop is small, the sheer volume of uncommon items tucked inside make it well worth the trip.
Lower East Side 5 Delancey St, Manhattan, NY
Procell specializes in ’80s and ’90s streetwear, including rare T-shirts. The store has a clean layout and a deeply curated collection of contemporary vintage. If you’re not the type of vintage shopper who enjoys scavenging, the modern space with simple displays will help you narrow your search with its curated edit of collectables.
Lower East Side 204 1st Ave, New York, NY
No Relationship is your classic secondhand “jeans and T-shirt” spot. It’s perfect for anyone in search of an Official Hot Guy Shirt, a pre-loved jean jacket, a neon windbreaker or denim cutoffs.
Union Square 111 E 12th St New York, NY
Cure Thrift Shop is a massive two-floor collection of vintage and thrift clothing, as well as some antique and contemporary homewares. The shop has a similar vibe to the Friends apartments and has the outfits to match. Whether you’re a Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey or Ross (no judgment), this place has effortless ensembles to fit your standards. There’s plenty to sort through, so set aside a good chunk of time for this one. All proceeds benefit Type 1 Diabetes Research and Advocacy.

10 Simply Luxurious Picks from Halsbrook
Composing our wardrobe is an effort that is carefully done. Paying close attention to purchasing quality items that while on trend, are not trendy. Halsbrook is an online women’s clothing destination where such items can be discovered.
Inspired by her mother’s appreciation for thoughtfully selecting and wearing items that were beautiful and timeless, the founder of Halsbrook Halsey Schroeder began to realize that opportunities to discover such items were greatly underserved. And thus, Halsbrook was born.
Offering quality items from well-known and respected brands such as LK Bennett and Oscar de la Renta as well as Lafayette 148, shoppers will find items for their capsule wardrobe that are well-made and will be enjoyed for many years to come.
I had the opportunity to peruse the entire site and was invited to share ten of my favorite items. It was hard to keep my list to 10 as so many of their items caught  my eye, so be sure to shop the entire site.
Below you will find each of the items and how I might wear them in my capsule wardrobe. As well, the timing couldn’t be better as their “Fall Into Sale” event has just begun with items reduced as much as 80% (check out the White Poplin Shirt from Ascoli). Happy shopping!
~Add a pair of denim jeans and ballet flats and the white blouse paired with either the camel or red trench would be a perfect daily uniform. The navy and ivory striped sweater would be worn frequently in my wardrobe as I adore stripes. Again, I would pair it with my favorite skinny jeans, either a tan ballet flat or nude pumps and grab the camel trench to finish the look.~
Sale Items:
~Ascoli White Notched V-Neck Cotton Poplin Shirt
~Mackintosh by Francis Campelli Camel Trench Coat with Belt
~Ivory and Navy Striped Merino Wool Sweater
~Mackintosh by Francis Campelli Red Short Trench with Belt
Staple Items for any Capsule Wardrobe:
~LK Bennett Medine Double-Breasted Checked Jacket
~The slightly over-sized black and white checked blazers are on trend currently, and what drew me to this blazer was that it wasn’t excessively over-sized. In fact, it is simply a classic blazer with the en vogue color of the moment which is a classic choice. Wear with black pants and black flats as shown above, and your simple look will look effortless and chic.~
    ~Allude Bright Multi-Striped Cashmere Sweater
~A lover of cashmere and stripes, the bright, playful colors are balanced well with the neutral grey hue. Ideal for layering under a warm wool coat and skinny jeans with a low-heeled bootie, stay warm and stay light-hearted.~
~LK Bennett Casia Navy Stretch Blazer
~Blazers are one of my favorite go-to essentials, and a navy blazer is a lovely choice as it pairs well with so many different options. Wear with a silk camisole and a pair of denim jeans or with a skirt or pair of pants in khaki, white, grey or a fantastic printed bottom. Wear for work or for play and rest assured you have a versatile item to pair with a long list of other pieces in your capsule wardrobe.
~Deborah Grivas Pearl Gold Textured Hoop Earrings
~A classic pair of hoops, not too large, not too small, are a must-have in any wardrobe. These have a touch of formal but are balanced with a touch of everyday which means they can be worn for both occasions.~
~Lafayette 148 Tory Raisin Finesse Crepe Dress
~I saw this dress and had to jump on it as it again is a versatile hue and wearing it to an upcoming holiday gathering with a statement necklace as seen above and a nude or neutral pumps keeps the styling simple.~
~Amina Rubinacci Salto Navy blue Funnel-Neck Puffer Coat
~If you, like me, live in a climate with frigid temperatures in the winter, a puffer coat is a worthwhile investment. But how to keep it stylish? This coat is your answer. With a tailored waist, keep your upper torso and your bottom half (pun intended) cozy warm. Slip on your winter boots, a wool stocking cap and of course some gloves and you are set.~
~Me & Kashmiere Powder Pink Cashmere Scarf
~Steadily, but carefully I build my scarf wardrobe. And when it comes to winter, I want cashmere rather than wool. The gentle caress of the fabric feels luxurious on the skin, and this scarf in a complexion brightening hue of pink would be a lovely addition.~

13 DIY Couples’ Costume Ideas That Are Better Than Anything You Can Buy In A Store
I love Halloween. I love creepy things. I love parties. I love candy (but not candy corn, gross). And most of all, I love making things. So, it’s pretty much the perfect holiday for someone like me. I spend all year making little notes on my phone of good couples costume ideas and mentally engineering their creation so that by the time fall rolls around, I’m all set and ready to go. But let’s assume that, unlike me, you aren’t a neurotic Halloween lover and you don’t have a ton of DIY couples costume ideas in your phone. Don’t worry, you can have some of mine. Trust me, I’ve got plenty.
So, whether you prefer something cute, sexy, or nightmare-inducing, I’ve figured out how to put it on your bods. Yes, you could just run down to the local costume store, but that’s so boring! That’s how you end up at a party with everyone in the same Harley Quinn and Jack Sparrow costumes. Anyone can buy a costume at the store, but it takes a bit more effort and creativity to make it yourself. And really, don’t you and your partner deserve to win all the contests this year?
Here are some ideas to borrow, or at least to get your creativity flowin’.
1. Baby And Debora From Baby Driver
Giphy
This year’s coolest couple, hands down, are Baby and Debora from Baby Driver. If you have a partner who’s tough to talk into dressing up for Halloween, this is the couples costume he won’t be able to turn down. Who doesn’t want to be a bad ass get away driver? As a bonus, it’s actually really cool stuff you will want to wear year round.
For Debora, you’ll want to find a cute retro waitress dress and pair it with a sheepskin lined denim jacket. The Baby costume is just as easy: You just need the varsity style jacket, a white tee, black wayfarers, jeans, and black shoes. If you really want to complete the look, you can add a scar with with wax. Just make sure not to forget the earbuds!
2. The Fairly Odd Parents
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Want to be Wanda and Cosmo for Halloween this year? Your wish is my command. This one will take some minor fabrication, but I promise you are totally up for it. For Wanda, you will need a yellow tee, black pants, wings, and pink hair spray. Cosmo’s outfit is just a white button up shirt, black tie, black pants, green hair spray, and, of course, some more fairy wings. That just leaves their fairy crowns and wands. Time to get crafty. To create the crowns, you’ll need small headbands that will blend in your hair, a sheet of yellow foam, and some craft wire. To make the wand, you’ll need some wood dowels painted black, and you can use the leftover foam sheet to make the stars.
3. Yorkie And Kelly from Black Mirror
Netflix
Did you cry like a baby when Black Mirror’s San Junipero episode took home the Emmy for Outstanding Television series this year, too? Yeah, that’s because Yorkie and Kelly are everything, including this year’s queer girl couples costume goals. Unless you want to spend your next month trawling through a million thrift shops to find the perfect blinged-out jacket, the key is to just find modern pieces, which, when accessorized properly, give them an ’80s feel.
To channel Yorkie’s party girl vibe, you’ll need an embellished purple jacket, black corset top, and black harem pants. Top it off with a black oversized bow in the hair. To capture the adorable nerdiness of Kelly, pair a light blue sweatshirt with a pink collared shirt, khaki shorts, and don’t forget the wire-rimmed glasses. Cutest duo ever.
4. Cards Against Humanity
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Need a last minute costume that is actually awesome? Good news: This one only requires some foam boards and black and white paint pens! If you want to get more interactive, opt for chalkboards and erasable pens. Warning: That can get very dangerous as the night goes on and the drinks are flowing. Hmm, actually, that pretty much describes every game of Cards Against Humanity I’ve ever played, so it’s on theme!
5. Diana Prince And Steve Trevor From Wonder Woman
Warner Bros. Pictures
All I want in life is to be Wonder Woman. Is that too much to ask? Yes, yes, it is, because I don’t have the fabrication skills to create a breast plate. Now her disguise outfit… that’s something I can achieve. Was there anyone more dapper than Diana Prince and Steve Trevor as they made their way through the streets of 1910s London? Nope, and this is how you steal their style this Halloween.
This is not a warm-climate-appropriate costume. Go this route only if your Halloween is going to be on the chilly side. To get the Diana look, you’ll need a wool houndstooth coat, belted. Under the coat, you’ll need a white collared shirt, long skirt, and Victorian style boots. Oh, and don’t forget her sword. Steve’s costume is made of up layers: Start with a turtleneck sweater, topped with a brown leather vest and sheepskin lined coat. Pair all of this with a pair of dark khaki pants and black boots. Top it off with a navy brood hat to really nail the period costume.
6. The Purge
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Personally, I love a scary costume on Halloween, and what is scarier than the idea of all your friends and neighbors suddenly turning into homicidal maniacs for 12 hours every year? Plus, this costume is great if you’re a procrastinator, because it can be made up almost entirely of things you already have in your wardrobe. Your best bets are something sexy — or ironic — like lingerie, a prom dress, or a tux. To complete the look, you’ll need to make a mask, and there are great tutorials online on how to turn them into Purge masks. And of course, you’ll need your killing spree weapons of choice.
7. Pop Art
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Another last-minute costume that will still wow at any Halloween party is to turn the two of you into living pop art. There are some great tutorials on YouTube that will walk you through the makeup technique. To complete the look, think retro-inspired comic book clothing, and you can add speech bubbles with a headband, craft wire, and some paper. One last bit of advice: I highly suggest a few practice run throughs before hand. Otherwise your costume might be a living Pinterest fail instead.
8. Dipper And Mabel
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Is it creepy if your couples costume is made up of a brother and sister? Nah, not when it’s Dipper and Mable. They’re hardly the Lannisters, if you know what I’m sayin’. Anyway, moving on. Here’s how to become Gravity Falls’ greatest mystery solvers. For Dipper, you’ll need an orange t-shirt, blue vest, white socks, black shoes, and grey shorts. To complete the look, you’ll also need his signature hat, and to create that you need a blue trucker hat and some fabric paint to add the little blue tree. You might as well get the whole fabric paint kit, because you’re going to need a few more colors to create Mabel’s rainbow and star turtleneck. The rest of her costume is easy; it’s just a denim skirt, white knee socks, and some black ballet flats. Oh, and her headband too, of course. Cryptids of the Northwest will shiver when they see you coming.
9. Ellie And Grant From Jurassic Park
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
You know who were an awesome couple? Ellie and Grant from Jurassic Park. They were smart, adventurous, and totally went toe-to-toe with prehistoric monsters… and won! Total couples goals. Yes, I know they weren’t together in the sequels, but let’s just make a pact to pretend they never happened, OK? Good. Moving on.
Here is how you can become Ellie and Grant for Halloween. Spoiler alert: Brace for khaki. For Ellie, you’ll need khaki shorts, a blue tank top, a pink button up (tied at the waist), hiking boots, and grey socks. For Grant, khaki pants, a denim shirt, a red bandana tied at the neck, hiking boots, and top it off with a wide brimmed fedora. Oh, and some dinosaur props really tie it all together.
If your boo isn’t really a “Grant type,” there’s always the doctor of chaos himself, Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcom. Just sayin’.
10. Hook And Tinker Bell
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Who wants to be Peter Pan and Wendy when you can be Tink and Hook? They have all the best accessories anyway. I dunno, I ship ’em. To create a cool Captain Hook, you need a red blazer, white blouse, a hook, and pirate captain’s hat with feathers. To get your Tinker Bell on, you’ll want a green tulle dress and fairy wings. Simple and cute.
11. Pennywise And Georgie From It
Giphy
Did you see It yet? Of course you did — everyone has. Thats because it’s scary as hell. I had nightmares for two nights after I saw it that Pennywise was peeking in my window. How messed up is that? Anyway, that also means it’s going to be a fantastic couples costume if you want to terrorize everyone else at the party. What else is Halloween for, right? The Georgie costume is easy; all you really need a is a hooded yellow rain coat, rain boots, and maybe a paper boat. To create your Pennywise, you’ll need a men’s white ruffled shirt, neck ruff, and pirate style pants. Add red pompoms down the front and on the toes of the shoes. Top it off with a red wig, killer clown makeup, and a red balloon. Why? Because they float. They all float.
12. Nasa And The Stars
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
I love this couples costume, because what is more “meant to be together” than a NASA nerd and the galaxy? It’s sweet and clever and probably mostly already in your closet. Don’t lie — we all bought a galaxy dress in the last few years. Now you get to pull it back out and be the cutest couple at the party. For your astronomy nerd costume, you’ll just need a NASA tee, some nerd glasses (or add tape to yours), and suspenders are a nice touch. The stars really aligned for this costumes. Eh? Nudge, nudge.
13. Rick And Morty From Rick And Morty
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
You’re gonna wubba-dubba-dub-love this costume idea! Want a reason to love Rick and Morty, I mean besides the fact that it’s just stone cold genius? This season they decided to implement gender parity in the writer’s room, and the show has never been better. Plus, when internet jerks decided it would be awesome to doxx those writers, creator Dan Harmon publicly smacked them down. Awesome. OK, now that you are pumped to celebrate all things Rick and Morty, here’s how to achieve the look. For Rick, you’ll need a lab coat, light blue shirt, khaki pants, a wig, and his trusty portal gun. Morty’s costume is a yellow shirt and jeans, but I

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
6. The Purge
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
7. Pop Art
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

Trendy Colors For Winter That Will Look Hot On You

Trendy Colors For Winter That Will Look Hot On You
It’s all right to guess what’s in this winters – from statement furs to velvet. But it’s important to guess the colors for winter too.
What we need to rack our minds is on the winter fashion colors, winter hair colors, fall winter fashion trends and fall winter 2016-2017 color trends. So that we look trendy and spicy in the season of chill in adequate measure.
Get yourself a hot cuppa coffee as I take you through colors for winter and colors for winter 2017 that will rock your winter fashion many notches up.

Yellow
We need to cover our ears so that we can shoo away the winter. And a hat plays a very instrumental role in it.
Talk of fall winter fashion trends and knit caps work well as they protect you and your hair from the winter chill. But hello when you see a bright light yellow knit hat sitting pretty on your head, it will bring sunshine to you even in the boring days.
Yellow in the form of a dress showcases how well it goes with black. Plus how great it looks in winters!
White
Agreed fur is an expensive proposition. But it is very much trending even if it is fake. Since wearing white in winters looks classical, this white fur vest will make you look winter beautiful, no matter whether there is snow or not.
Hello, how can you miss out on a white cashmere sweater? It is very much in.
Pastel
Have an office holiday party coming up? Pastel is the way to go from the traditional colours you have set your mind on. Especially pastel green beaded dress which will make you stand out from the crowd.
Red
Want to know how to make red work in the winters? Just wear a cardigan over anything, whether it’s a white tank top to a plaid dress. In fact, plaid is a huge print trend these days.
With Christmas around, make yourself look a femme fatale by wearing a wool trench coat in red like the one shown. The bold red hue is the kind of winter fashion colors that will make you look a fashion diva.

Light Blue
Feel the soft, romantic look on your hands when you put on light blue gloves for an outdoor date. Ice blue they say is a hot winter colour.
A light blue cashmere coat will look beautiful to the core. Just avoid wearing it when it is raining or snowing.
Green
Time to get yourself a new scarf, like for instance, green in cable knit and infinity. It will make you look petty and adorable.
Yet another signature winter fashion colors of Christmas is Green. Pair it up with a scarf in a colour other than red or gold. Like for instance, it could be a peach or blue even a plaid or herringbone print for that matter.
Black
Give black a welcome honey, because donning a black sweater dress in any cut or style depending on your body type makes a difference to your winter wardrobe. Black outfits are always trending, irrespective of the season. Plus black is a slimming colour too. And if you want to look sexy (without making much of an effort) then go for black as colors for winter 2017.
Anything that is quilted makes the right fashion noise. Such as a black quilted flare skirt which rules over quilted vest or coat. If this dress seems too little for winters, then slip into opaque tights and boots to complete the look.
Orange
Orange on the whole reflects happiness, enthusiasm and encouragement as well. These things will look good on you as you enter into another year. So give this colour its pride of place either in the form of an orange vest when you play in the snow or an orange dress for New Year’s Eve.
Blazers are a good form of layering items of clothing. You can wear an orange blazer with a tank top or you can wear it with a turtleneck and vest. The best part in this colors for winter 2017 is that you can wear an orange blazer with warm leather accessories too.
Light Pink
No missing out on a Poncho when it comes to outdoor wear. And light pink is a winter fashion colors that does full justice to the feminine pastel any time of the year.

Lilac
Winters also drench us in the unexpected rain. So when you go for the lilac – the unexpected winter fashion colors you will welcome it very minute. If you get a lilac rain boot, think how many of your friends will envy you.
If you are not in a mood to wear boots, then go for high or low chucks in lilac.
Wear pale green earrings with the pale green beaded dress that you saw earlier on this page and honestly winters won’t disappoint you in their element of charm.
I hope I have been able to widen your options on choosing colors for winter. Start stocking up your wardrobe with fall winter 2016-2017 color trends before it gets too late. Drop in your suggestions, comments and views on winter fashion colors and outfit ideas for winters too.
