as many of you know, when i released midnights 7 months ago, the original concept was fun, dreamy, n honestly a reflection of how i felt at the time. after going through a rather tragic breakup, i cannot see the album the same anymore because it isn't how i feel. it's not me. i revised the entire project during some free time between tour with some amazing people, and in a way, i'm grateful for that breakup! it inspired two, beautiful songs and an edition of the album that you will all be hearing soon. to make a long story short: my new single you’re losing me will be out midnight, 7/17!

it’s been a while since my last post on lotm and I have now finished volume 2!! take my rambly analysis review about it :D

firstly, I want to describe my feelings about the end of volume 1. (when I made my last post I didn’t realize I was so close to finishing it or I would’ve put this there originally xD)

absolutely heartbroken even when I go to read it back. my legend dunn smith, your impact on the world and klein was so much more than you could know

that scene of klein running back to see his siblings and there’s a circus in town, they are there but dressed in black grieving him not smiling not having fun, just the juxtaposition of the cheer around them but they’re in this miserable world and klein hates to see them so upset and forlorn but he’s too scared to approach them so he PUTS ON THE CLOWN MAKEUP AS A DISGUISE AND COMES OVER ACTING AS A SILLY GOOFY CLOWN AND GIVES MELISSA A FLOWER THAT SYMBOLIZES HAPPINESS. IT LIVES IN MY MIND RENT FREE I FELT GUTTED. HOW DARE THE FIRST VOLUME END LIKE THAT. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

when klein discovered the essence and principles of “clown” is to smile in the pain & misery, I noticed constantly that every time he was reminded of the depressing things from before he smiled brighter 😃 my poor boy. I was aware it was the acting he needed to do, but it still felt really sad and worrying. he was so so sad guys…..

he created this new life, new identity as sherlock and started to get along pretty well in the detective world but honestly lowkey even more so in terms of murder um

there was a chapter when klein murdered a guy in self-defense and had a monologue of figuring out how he’ll deal with the body and not gonna lie I laughed 💀 but what wasn’t funny at all was that scene when he looked at his damaged clothes after the battle and was reminded of the support he used to have with his former team, the ability to do things like reimburse basic damages… such comforts don’t exist for him anymore. he’s in despair & there’s a guy dead at his feet so of course he laughs ! as a clown like him should!

something I really REALLY liked was how later klein, again in self defense from an attack by a sequence 5 of his same pathway, used “make you go crazy beam” which was supereffective, murdered him, and stole his eyeball beyonder characteristic. and then he found out the thing can be used as a remote control for puppeteering a whole fake alternate guy in the tarot club meetings above the grey fog to engage in things he can’t as the fool, which is REALLY REALLY REALLY SMART AND COOL OKAY I LOVE THE WORLD PERSONA!!! I WAS SO HYPED AND GRINNING WHEN HE FIGURED THAT OUT ITS SO COOL!!!!!

I love how klein’s character is developing into such a liar too. all these fake personas, disguises, masks, who is this guy really? nobody knows! he’s swimming in a sea of lies :3

there was a lot more interesting stuff that happened around that time period of the novel like the statues of the gods which I want to know more about but I just really wanna move to talking about the lanevus part next ok. you get it… it was one of my favorite scenes in this novel so far I read it 5 times

dude when klein finally found and recognized his target in the flesh he locked. in. started laughing like a freak again which I knew by now is clown for “pure sorrow, rage and desire for revenge”

while reading I felt kinda upset like okay I guess the nighthawks can take the revenge >:( …. so I was INCREDIBLY GLAD they failed and klein stepped in to do it himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omfg that was cathartic

the divination to know where he’d go!!! the surprise attack with the tarot cards!!! the brawl in the sewers, tricky maneuvers and strategy to wear lanevus down until he eventually fell to injury!!! THE MERCILESS BLOODY EXECUTION. THE KICKING HIM WHILE HE WAS DOWN DECAPITATION MOVE?????? DAMN KLEIN WHAT THE HELL I COULDN’T BELIEVE MY EYES HE DID THAT IT WAS INSANE

THE HYSTERICAL LAUGHING BREAKDOWN WHILE TEARS STREAMED DOWN HIS FACE

HE LOOKS OFF INTO THE DISTANCE WINKS AND SAYS “we saved loen again, right captain?”

then klein became a magician!!!! and can jump through flames and use paper substitutes and stuff which is awesome!!!!!! the principle of “never performing unprepared” was so perfect fitting with how intelligent and prepared klein is

the battle alongside maric & sharron against the other mutants really showcased this. how he buried tons of explosives beforehand, used his substitutes, and THEN the absolute CLUTCH of putting azik’s whistle and the master key on the same keyring and crafting a situation where the evil specter would grab it while holding the miniature crimson moon mystical item. klein made an educated guess that this could work bc he knew that the master key causes insane ravings during red full moons because of mr door. ABSOLUTELY DIABOLICALLY GENIUS

and then the next big performance when he used the black emperor card to augment his spirit body into a knightly figure and snuck in to capim and company’s dinner to assassinate them. him using the poison bottle to cover up a gas leak (bc he ripped out all the pipes secretly) which made him able to violently implode the entire place oh my god I freaked the hell out, DIABOLICAL AGAIN. 😭😭😭 him scattering the tarot cards on the bodies of his targets like capim and lanevus who he murdered as the “calling card” (hah) vigilante-style to signal that it’s the fool’s blessed & the tarot club behind it was amazing.

the city of silver stuff also has been epic. the mysteries, hidden corruptions, and monsters; while journeying into the darkness you have to keep a light on or you will go crazy and the dark creatures will close in on you… hey this concept is really cool it reminds me of som-

safe to say during those chapters I could not put the novel down I was glued. I pulled an all nighter one day because of it <3

“the blasphemer” amon. the fear that gripped me when he tried to sneak into the grey fog undetected by trojan horsing sun and then later directly tried to break in 😰 who is this man fr? from what i know rn he’s really old and has a connection to the abyss, he has unbelievable magic power and is capable of hopping between the forsaken land of god and the outside world. he is said to be the time angel, the twin or counterpart of another angel named adam, who are children of the original creator

this lore is so intriguing and I need to know why he is so interested in the fool now. is it something to do with why other prophetic higher existences like the spirit lights & vampire ancestor keep saying the fool will save them when the apocalypse comes?

as for the finale of the volume, sheesh everything hit the fan huh o_o the hints were all present and scattered since long before. they just reached the culmination, it was a pattern similar to last volume’s finale; weird coincidences and a seemingly innocuous case of this lady who was the wife of a swindler and had his baby. soooo harmless u would think! but haha nope her baby is an evil god and everyone is gonna die now.

this time, it was the east borough’s high amount of suffering which was hinted as being a breeding ground of evil gods, one guy who kept getting assassination attempts, cases of people disappearing, weird coincidences (that quill Needs to burn), and the most wild of all—klein’s innocent and vague chats with an acquaintance about their love life. crazy, I love it. at the rate this is going, from now on I need to be watching carefully if klein says hi to someone and they don’t say hi back, or he steps in mud that is slightly too wet, because those could very well be the spawn of satan 😭

having to watch how the smog spread through east borough and fatally poisoned thousands of people including old kohler made me so sad and angry and sick to my stomach :((( I wanted justice for them so bad.

thankfully the advancement into faceless is amazing and perfect for klein who has a million false identities <3 I was so impressed with how he got teleported into super-danger in a place full of enemies but used his wits to get through it. he went full assassin stealth rogue taking people out as he transformed into them, mimicked their voices, and swiftly moved through the enemy base. I NEED MORE OF THIS PLEASEEEEEE PLEASE PLEASE🙏 🙏

and they ended the volume the same way as volume 1 with klein running across his siblings again but fated to part . So Mean

I wanna take this time now to talk about some characters

klein our main character has had some extremely good development, I’ve been really impressed. he maintains his good heart, emotions, and personal justice like with helping struggling people (😔) but at the same time he is very lonely and has developed this edge. he is not a pushover, he mercilessly brings the executioner’s blade down on people deserving of it, and he has been courting death more often. but manages to get through it all purely with his cunning intellect. he is a natural detective even if it wasn’t part of his cover identity. I’m the sort of person that when reading books and novels I tend to catch hints & make certain connections/predictions quickly, I take notes, I am so used to facepalming in agony because the mc doesn’t connect the dots as fast as me but klein does. he catches it at the same time I do, and doesn’t waste time in his follow-up of them either. It’s mindblowing I love reading the pov of a character like this!

audrey is soooo likeable. she’s a well written character who is also really intelligent but also passionate to improve and get stronger, she is a young noble who doesn’t let her status or wealth blind her and is kind to everyone but isn’t stupid. out of all the tarot club members she has directly done the most to push for ideal results imo and I really respect that, she may not be able to have direct contact with the action as much as others but she has her influence and spectator sequence powers and wisely uses them. so much of what has happened, so many people’s lives saved, could literally have not been done without her. I love her and I love susie the talking dog

not much to say about alger and fors atm. with fors she’s still pretty new so I don’t know her too well yet, but I do appreciate how considerate she is <3 . with alger I liked how he revealed a somewhat helpful brotherly side when he would give advice to help derrick

speaking of derrick, I feel so sympathetic for the kid. he’s the youngest and lacks the experience the other tarot members have, he had to learn how to be crafty, sometimes through giving things & people up or through deception so he can save his city. this boy has needed to become so self-reliant to survive and I’m proud of him :(

emlyn white the vampire I didn’t expect to like as much as I do lmao he’s a vain stuck up and kinda clueless guy but he’s really funny. I get a pathetic wet cat charm from him and im excited to see where he goes from here

I also liked ikanser, the machinery hivemind deacon. he was open to helping and accepting help from others which was nice! but I REALLY liked that arrodes mirror he uses oh my god 😭 that thing is dead set on outing all his secrets, its questions was The funniest running gag in this volume please I need more of it

and it was so nice to see leonard and mr azik again!! apparently leonard has the parasite of another beyonder attached to his body, and they have history with amon….? how interesting. slammed my table when klein and him were just a few steps away from seeing each other. also it was a relief that azik had such an averagely normal, relatable reaction to klein’s rising from the dead and they can see each other again <3

to end this long post off, I said in my last one how I think the writing style of following klein’s daily events is so fun, and that still holds up! the way things gradually build up over the course of in-universe days, weeks, and eventually it reaches these crazy twists n conclusions is really satisfying. I also love how the emotional moments and action scenes are :3

and in my usual hyperfixation ways I am making a playlist of songs I associate with lotm! here it is so far, I will be continuing to add to it as I go on. also I wanna link the video of the raon’s cover of the song Theater in particular bc I LOVE it, I feel like the lyrics (eng subtitles) and vibe fits klein well ^_^

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

ok so dimitri, sylvain, and felix kinda hop around in my head all the time and they switch between being my favorites at any given time. i think dimitri is my favorite because i find his character arc super super relatable and i think it’s refreshing to have one of the lords very much not having his shit together any of the time 💀. this is more seen in hopes but i also love how he’s just. so earnest and so dumb sometimes. like yes i wanna see this sheltered dumbass king going to villages he doesn’t know without any concern for his own safety.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

like i said before it’s just how earnest he is 😭 it’s such a nice change of pace from Big Schemers edelgard and claude (much love to them) and it makes for so many sweet moments pre and post boar. also the detail abt him not being able to taste food is so like. fun and cute and i love it and i love how it affects the game mechanics and makes it so he only likes like. five foods. he’s a joy

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

the white savior narrative with dedue and duscur mostly. i’m SURE i don’t need to elaborate lol

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

i’m gonna speak mostly to fanart here but i LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE when people give him non-conventionally attractive features. 3H suffers from Everyone Has The Same Facial Features With Different Eyes disease so seeing people be creative with like his head shape and his nose and his lips is super super fun. personally i love him with a longer face and a long nose (not sure if i do the greatest job of showing that in my fanart tbh)

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

MISCHARACTERIZE HIM!!!!!! i see this perception of him a lot that paints him as some stagnant coward who is too afraid to enact any real political change which is so not the case and makes me think that several people just didn’t play/didn’t pay attention to azure moon. people forget that he had NO ALLIES IN FHIRDIAD AND VERY FEW IN THE KINGDOM!!!!!! his father was killed and the people who conspired against him were THE WESTERN LORDS OF HIS OWN KINGDOM (among others). he was literally kept under house arrest in the castle after the tragedy by his uncle who wanted to kill him and his freaky court mage. IF HE TRIES TO DO ANYTHING THEYRE GOING TO KILL HIM!!!!!!!! edelgard has nobles in the empire on her side and the agarthans, dimitri has ONLY DEDUE. let’s use some critical thinking skills!!!! one of them is in a far better spot to make big sweeping changes than the other.

Spoilers below as I gush about my Mutant Mayhem Monday experience 🤗 please feel free to gush with me I wanna hear other people’s thoughts too!

First off… When Seth wanted to put the teenager in TMNT he meant it. Like, all the versions act like teenagers, but like Nickelodeon PG stereotypical teens. MM turtles were the realest PG-13 outta pocket 21st century teenagers I’ve ever seen and I love that shit because it’s the first time I actually felt like I was around the kids in middle school and high school again with the way they talk. Kinda appreciate Superfly cussing too? Like idk it’s Ice Cube and this villain goes hard tryna kill some teenage turtles he formally saw as his lil cousins, let the grown mutant cuss

Also uh, was not expecting to be sad so early in the movie? Like I could tell from the trailers it was gon be an emotional rollercoaster but shit like ten minutes in and these turtles are fuckin depressed. And to see it really hit me because in every other version (except for Bayverse) the turtles literally never let not being part of the human world get to them. In the shows especially they’re so well adjusted and never bothered by sticking to the shadows. Then there’s Rise where they pretty much go out whenever they want and indulge in most of the human world stuff they want to. Wasn’t expecting any kind of ship or romance but that crush Leo has on April hit me like truck because…… holy crap the Leo-April pair has never been a thing? On top of that this is only the second on screen black April we’ve seen and I’ve been a Leo kinnie across the board since day one so to see this combo of my favorite character liking a black girl is making me lose my mind 🥲 and like it got me thinking of several of my favorite shows and the single characters I kin in those and if they’ve ever had black love interests and it’s just still not a common normalized thing honestly.

I’m sure a lot of people aren’t excited for the prospect of ships coming back (especially after 2012 scarred us) but as a Leo lover and black girl it got me so excited to see something like this. I’m just hopeful and optimistic they won’t mess it up like a lot of shows do. The “this is just as friends line” already makes me a little worried bc that trope never has a good history but I have faith they’ll handle things tastefully and not make it toxic or messy

The sequence of them going around and shaking down those gangs and Superfly’s connections. BAD. ASS. And each of them got their own moments to shine? Loved it. Like they each even got to take point and have their moments where they got to kick in the door lol. And the fight scenes were just, muah. Chef’s kiss, they all looked amazing taking grown ass adults down together

Okay Splinter definitely gets the best dad award for putting together that little surprise party, with all the celebrity Chris’s and pretending to wait on them 🥺 so pure. It did make me sad the guys immediately left and you can just see such a sad dejected look on Splinter’s face, knowing he can’t provide what his kids really want or make them happy enough without it 🥲 At the very least they say thanks and that they appreciate but I would’ve at least stayed for a lil bit and gone along with it, Splinter just looked so excited about it and it was so sweet 😭

And he doesn’t even get upset though he knows they’re hiding something, he just says he’ll help them if they’ve gotten into trouble, which is something I’m sure almost every kid has wanted instead of having the kind of relationship where they’re more scared of telling their parents they messed up instead of handling it on their own

I love how musical Superfly’s family is 😂 Ray Filet just starts sing-introducing his name and Mondo and the other couple mutants when they drive with in the car trying to find music they could all sing to together 🥹 not to mention the musical references Superfly makes later that I’ll get to. “Kinda don’t wanna murder everyone on Earth, I just kinda wanna sing” Me too bruh.

Raph immediately going “goochi goochi goo” and playing peekaboo with Genghis frog is so underrated that boy has such a soft side he’s not even that afraid of showing at times, and maybe it’s continuing the trope of Raph having a soft spot for pets/animals? Who knows 😌

Yo I was kinda shook when that government guy knocked Leo out and he just fell unconscious on the ground 😶 Like we’re used to seeing the authorities be brutal especially in movies like this but that’s a whole teenager? You just assaulted a minor? 🙂 Crazy

They literally started singing BTS while being tortured they’re so unserious but like in a serious way to them and I love it. Also the fact that they did it just to make Donnie feel better? So pure. I love the Leo Raph dynamic in this movie. Like they don’t always agree or understand each other but they will show love towards one another and show mutual appreciation

Something about any of the turtles shells cracking always gets to me for some reason like those are some serious permanent injuries so I want to see if they do anything special with that in the sequel or show maybe 🤔 And I couldn’t tell if all of theirs cracked or just one, and if so which turtle it was. I think Leo or Raph. I feel like it was Leo but Raph’s are also starting to have a trend of getting cracks in their shells so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Also I do not want to judge what other people like to wear but why are Raph and Donnie the only normal dressed ones 😭 like Mikey looks like he’s going on vacation and Leo looks like he’s going to clock in at Best Buy 😂 tell me it’s because they have limited resources for clothes lmao. Them taking off the masks was crazy honestly… like them deciding not to wear them made my brain pause until I realize they’re kids going to school now and not being ninjas all the time… they don’t need them anymore. I’m just so pleased with the fact that this movie was willing to do what all other iterations weren’t. I see why they’re getting a sequel and show already, these guys and the plot development deserve so much more exploration

Maybe I missed something in the beginning but I’m wondering where Stockman went. Like is he still in custody? Did he die? Because not seeing him again that’s what I assumed but we only saw him get arrested or whatever, so if anything I don’t get why Superfly and the others wouldn’t try to break him out 🤔 I was surprised they didn’t make him a villain though, but I’m pretty happy about him getting to be a more optimistic kind character tho

The soundtrack: golden. Cultured. Nothing but range. Goes from a 90’s rap song to Natasha Bedingfield’s soulful 2000’s song. Most movies only ever have all pop mainstream songs or only rap songs because they think they can’t mix but MM does it effortlessly. The turtles are so versatile not just with music genres but they make old and new references ‘cause they’re well rounded kings 💪🏽 Between rizz, Adele, broski, Hey Arnold, K-Pop, Ferris Bueller, etc… I mean Donnie’s literally doing the sprinkler and the funky chicken in that gif up top 😂 they’re born in 2008 I doubt any kids today know about those dances anymore

Clearly I have all the thoughts and feelings about these boys and the movie, but I think this is probably my favorite TMNT movie? I’ve loved all of them but I think this one definitely brings me the most comfort fr

Hi everyone, I hope y’all are doing great. I just wanted to make a little update about a couple of things. I’m going to try and organize my thoughts as much as I possibly can so bear with me, please.

Refresh:

For starters, I am going to be doing a blog refresh. Not just like changing my theme and whatnot but more like updating linked posts and things like that to make my blog easier to navigate for everyone including myself lol. So over the next couple of weeks when I have time I will be trying to go through and change/update little things. Just doing little things to make it more functional and aesthetic. I was planning on doing it this summer, but things like work got in the way so it’s happening a little later than planned, but at this point, I’m just glad things are happening lol. 

Writing/Other Content:

Okay so like the refresh I was planning on doing a lot of writing/drawing/etc this summer. Once again, did not happen for various reasons. I still am planning on continuing to put out all sorts of content. I have so much planned that I want to get out because I’m really happy with it. While I still do have plans, for things I am always open for requests for anything (fics, playlists, etc.). I am trying to get a plan together for writing and things to make it easier on myself. To get a little deep for a second, part of the reason I always have so little motivation for writing is because I didn’t ever really think I was good enough/people didn’t actually like what I was writing. That’s a long story short, but either way, I am trying to not think like that anymore and instead just write for my enjoyment, and if others like it then that’s cool too. For my Gabe lovers... there's stuff planned don't you worry

Another blog?! 

I will at some point be “launching” another sideblog. Once again I am trying to organize things and I feel like that would help especially with me bringing theme days back and other things like that. I don’t know when exactly I will like actually “launch” it, but it will be some time/during the refresh of the main blog.

Life Update:

Okay we are going to end things off with an actual life update. For starters, I’m in college now! I def like it more than high school. I feel like I can breathe a little more if that makes sense? Like my workload is a lot lighter almost and my schedule is a little more forgiving. Also with my schedule being more forgiving I will have more time for writing and such so I am def happy about that. I’ve also been having a lot of friend drama going on lately (since October last year) which is not the best but at the moment I am just rolling with it (any of my closer moots feel free to ask if you want lol, I think some of y’all know part of it). My mental health has been like happening lately. Not too bad not too good, better than during high school but there’s things ya know? We are going to end on my favorite update of all… drumroll please….. I’M GOING TO MY FIRST NHL GAME THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited. It is technically a preseason game but still. I am going with a friend (one that is a big part of the friend drama lol) and we are going to make a day of it. I can’t wait for this weekend and I’ll def let y’all know how it goes. Anyway, thank you all for sticking with me and I appreciate y’all so much.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like to say that “I think in dialogue” when it comes to writing bc whenever I’m writing anything in my head, the dialogue is more prominent than the imagery in my brain. To me, it’s easier to hear how characters interact with one another in my head compared to what’s happening visually.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

To me, it’s hard to do description and not just make it a giant wall of text bc in books when I see that I find it distracting at times if it’s just like description over and over again, it does depend on the wording and if it’s “boring” or not. I just don’t want to make scenes that feel boring, I want to keep the reader invested.

It’s hard for me to fully translate what’s in my head into visual words

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I’m not against it I just haven’t done it all too often

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I was in 7th grade, became obsessed with Miraculous Ladybug, had already written like 3 fics on paper (most during class) but I decided that wasn’t enough and sought out like fics online and discovered wattpad which is when I had the thought “I wonder if someone has already written this thing that I want to read?” And no one had in the specific way I wanted to read about so I wrote it myself… …when I was like 13… …so it’s not great and I cringe a lot when I look back at it but I still maintain that book to this day :) it’s a nice lil time capsule of like how my writing has involved and I continue to have ideas for it

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

“Right Where I Need To Be” (my Jatp Camp Rock AU) has a special place in my heart bc it basically was the first multi-chapter fic I’ve ever done especially for Jatp. I just had such a fun time with the AU and all the dynamics there were to be made. The comment reactions were so fun to get and I looked forward to reading them whenever I published a new part! (it do still be on hiatus 💀 I haven’t forgotten about it! It’s just life gets in the way but I have some parts written for the like “part 2” of it I just want them to be more put together before I release them)

My name is Max Xu and as of Fall 2024 I am a 2nd year Biological Sciences major. I was born and raised in San Francisco.

2. What is your earliest childhood memory? 

My earliest childhood memory is going to the Chinese bakery nearby my house with my grandpa and acting like I owned the place. I would take the VitaSoy and SunnyD drinks from the fridge and even the owner/boss would buy a bag of chips from the Walgreens next door to sit and eat with me. I was somewhere between 2 to 4 during this time, and never was I tired of going to the bakery everyday up until preschool. My favorite chinese bakery would have to be egg tarts then pineapple buns would take second.

3. What’s stopping you?

What stops me? I tend to spend a lot of time doing the little things like cooking, cleaning, and finishing my assignments. In the long run this definitely affects my productivity, goals and ambitions. I get sidetracked on the most littlest things and it definitely is a problem when I actually have things to get done. But aye, I’m finishing this Xpressions questionnaire before the date at which its due. :P

4. What is something about yourself that you’re proud of?

If I were to center one thing about myself that I can confidently say I am proud of, it would be my ability to talk to people, and make connections whether it's long lasting or just introducing myself. I believe I can do this largely because I want to think I am often unserious, empathetic, and naturally curious. If this question were “What is one thing about yourself that you wouldn’t change?”, then I would have the same answer.

My ideal birthday would be hosting a party with my friends and family on two separate occasions. In the get together with my family, I wouldn’t want anything crazy special, but rather I would want to see my cousins, uncles, aunties, and immediate family for dinner just because I don’t see them often and that within itself is already a great gift or birthday wish come true. With my friends, we’re going all out.

One thing I am interested in that most people are not is pickleball.

It is every week or so when the friends I made in the halls of my freshman year come over to my house or I go over to their house. We’re close, but that doesn’t mean we spew out the emotions we’ve been feeling throughout the week each time we get together. Sometimes we do, but more often we eat, get boba, play some card games or “get to know you” games. It’s chill. I’m comfortable and I would like to think it’s like that for them too. I enjoy unwinding and just being myself after a long week and that can look very different depending on how the quarter is going. I guess this shows that even with the same people, I can be very dynamic and I value a friendship where I can be myself. I’m not always going to be feeling the same way 24/7, and if someone can be there for me when I yap, just wanna chill and grab some food, or spontaneously go out to play bowling, pickleball, or gym then that’s all I can ask for.

THIS IS REQUIEM (Or just “Em”)

And she’s a Megasound fanspawn,, bear with me, I’ve never made an oc like this before so I’ve been extremely nervous to show the creature off. 💀(especially since this is the fancharacter type I avoided making at all costs when in high school despite it leading to some very interesting character development.) Eventually I just said screw it, I’m proud of the design and character work I’ve been developing since August, I’m going to show her off.

I don’t really take her all too seriously as I originally made her to shitpost because I thought it’d be funny. And like my main TFP OC Quantum, she eventually grew past that and became something more. (While still keeping her silly at the same time)

I have. A LOT. Of development for this single celled organism that prolly won’t fit in one post, so on here I’m just going to do a sort of character bio thing (based on the format of Quantum’s Toyhouse bio) to introduce her. (Maybe I’ll do a Q&A sort of thing if anyone’s actually interested in that?)

Name: Requiem (Em for short)

Name Origin: This is what happens when you put a poetry/mythology nerd and a music nerd in a room together and have them name something. You get a name with origins in both music and literature (A music or literary composition that acts as a form of remembrance for the souls of the dead.) annnnnnd a reference to a mythological figure (the name of Megatronus/The Fallen’s weapon, the Requiem Blaster. Gee sure wonder who’s idea that was.) Unfortunately, the goblin who was given that name has a grand total of two brain cells and has as much class as a hagfish.

Personality: Requiem is loud, stubborn, rude, mischievous, a little naive, and all around a feral mess. Absolutely no filter. Textbook example of “curiosity killed the cat”. The champion of the age-old schoolyard discussion of “my dad can beat up your dad.” For… obvious reasons.

She’s easily bored and easily distracted, and thinks it’s entertaining to mess with other bots in the form of stupid pranks and barrages of questions.

Has a bit of a potty mouth and gets creative with her insults.

A fembo (but a lil mean) was told to use her head in a fight, but ended up head butting the opponent and subsequently knocking them out as a result.

As a result of (EXTREME) helicopter parenting combined with adrenaline junkie behavior, Requiem has the tendency to be an escape artist and to purposely seek out potentially dangerous situations such as but not limited to: Diving into a hurricane (to see what would happen), storm chasing (the bigger the better! Also to see what would happen), playing Icarus and getting struck by lightning on the Flight Deck of the warship (STRIKE ME DOWN ZEUS), sneaking out of the Nemesis and simultaneously smuggling all sorts of creepy crawlies and other organic critters back on board (has to be shaken out just to be sure.), being a little too interested in volcanic activity, sneaking weapons out of the armory and attempting to join the fight, and sneaking away from the ship to “explore”. Em wrangling is a very tiring objective.

If Rumble and Frenzy were alive, they would’ve definitely gotten along. (And would’ve been an unstoppable force of chaos oh gOD.)

She likes the pastel magical horse show about friendship, LOVES stickers, and her absolute favorite color is the most obnoxious eye bleeding shade of pink imaginable. (She was denied changing her PRIMARY paint job color to it for obvious reasons. Honey, that is a LOOK and not exactly a good one.)  She likes to pretend to be a gladiator. She likes to give people really stupid and bad nicknames for the hell of it. A favorite being combining the first few letters of a name or descriptor with “uncle”. She thinks it’s hilarious. A little too interested in arson and explosives. Her music taste can be described as “2012 Warrior cats amv” and “noise”. Really likes slasher films for some reason.

She exhibits several behaviors that could only be described as those of a cryptid. (…or cat.) These range from being able to sneak up on others and move without making a sound, staring unblinkingly and expressionlessly at things and other bots, climbing up and perching on top of things, noise mimicry, recharging facedown in a deathlike manner, and the worst thing being how she used to skitter across the walls and ceilings of the Nemesis as a sparkling. There were a handful of instances where she got into the vents of the ship and it was a nightmare trying to coax her back out. Oh yeah. There was a biting problem.

Requiem either hates or actively dislikes things ranging from water, being told to stay still, the thunder part of thunderstorms, the medbay, and being quarantined.

Her social ability leaves much to be desired, as she was raised in total isolation from her own age group, so she lacks most social skills as a result. Because of this, she often comes across as “weird” and as a bully, even if unintentional. Due to her isolated upbringing, she is a very lonely individual despite not exactly acting the part. Being routinely quarantined does not help that feeling of loneliness in the slightest. Em wants nothing more than a friend, or at least an acquaintance to spend time with. It’s just that, given who her parents are, that makes things impossible.

She has a very unhealthy view on death, as it isn’t exactly rare onboard the Nemesis. Surprisingly, she was actively kept away and shielded from most of the fighting as a child- however, in wartime there’s only so much one could be protected from even as the child of the highest ranking individuals of the faction.

you groggily open your eyes and blink a few times before looking up at marc, who was trying to wake you up.

“no” you push him away by the shoulder and turn the other way, covering your head with the blanket.

you hear him sigh and yank the blanket off your whole body, making you shiver.

“you have work, now get up. steven already made you breakfast” he tells you, to which you perk up and turn back to look at marc.

“exactly, now go get ready” he leaves the room, closing your door to give you some privacy while you slowly got up and got your uniform on.

once you do so, you finish getting ready in the bathroom, like brushing your teeth and all that jazz.

you came out to see marc with a plate of food at the kitchen table.

“come eat, you have to go soon” he nods to the plate, then he loves to the fridge to shuffle stuff around in it while you go and sit down.

marc comes back and gently slams a bottle of your juice on the table, making you look up at him with a small smile.

marc scoffs. “why?”

now its your turn to scoff. “why do you think?”

“because i got you juice?”

you finished up your food and cleaned your plate before leaving for another long day at work.

the bell rings as one of the last customers of the day comes in, so you turn your attention to them as soon as they walk in.

“it’s mei” she responds, so you nod and go to get her a croissant while she walks to the waiting counter after she pays.

once you grabbed the warm croissant with a square of dry wax paper before sticking it in a small brown paper bag.

you set the bag down on the counter and she comes up and takes it.

“thank you so much” she nods with a smile and leaves after you wave.

that was your cue to clean up and head home, hoping that your boys weren’t back yet.

but you missed them, even though it’s only been a few hours.

it was another short walk back, since you were power walking.

and of course you threw some bird seed out for the crows.

once you got back, it was immediately time to start your muffins.

you were making three different kinds, all of them for each of your dads.

stevens we’re going to be vegan, obviously. he liked banana muffins so that’s what you’re making for him.

for marc it was chocolate. he had a sweet tooth as much as he didn’t like to admit it.

and finally for jake, you knew he enjoyed strawberry muffins. you kept coming across strawberry flavored things over time, and never once saw marc or steven eat them, so it had to have been jake.

khonshu hates strawberries, too so it just proves that your theory is correct.

you luckily had the ingredients, and quickly got to work once you got cleaned up from your job.

it was quarter to 7 when you heard the front door open and then proceed to slam shut.

the slam shook the mirrors hanging on the walls, and you were lucky you had cleaned everything up in the kitchen while the muffins cooked.

they were done, and had been sitting in the still warm oven while you waited for them all to get home.

you didn’t want to do anything to set them off, so you stayed drying off a small bowl with a towel while you heard heavy footsteps coming towards the kitchen.

it was jake that came in looking frustrated, so you avoided eye contact and kept slowly wiping the dry bowl until he left.

he paced around the kitchen for a minute before stopping and standing over the sink next to you, looking down in it with a blank stare.

you don’t say anything or look in his direction, but it only took a short choppy movement from him to make you flinch.

he didn’t notice, and he takes off his hat to slam it on the counter, making you slightly jump again for nobody to notice.

jake takes a short breath before looking over to you who was just holding a towel and a bowl in your hands while staring at the floor.

“i’m sorry i-“

jake is interrupted by khonshu showing up, making him look up at the bird with a glare.

“you” he sneers at him, walking towards him, just brushing his shoulder against yours.

“you fucked up the mission you stupid bird” he points up at him, you watching and putting both the towel and the bowl down.

jake started shouting at khonshu, the bird just tilting his head at him, and it was when jake turned around and raised his hands in the air that you brought a hand up in front of your face and backed up a step.

jake froze in his movements, bringing his hand down slowly and backing away from you as you brought your own hand down to walk towards him.

“i’m going on a walk” he says shortly, heading for the door, and would’ve made it if you didn’t shoot a web out to stop it from opening.

“princesa, let me out” he tells you, tugging on the doorknob while you come towards him, khonshu now long gone.

“why?” you ask, standing about a foot away from him.

“i.. i scared you i need to leave-“

“no you didn’t. it wasn’t you, i know you would never” you tell him, and he relaxes completely, letting you come over to hug him.

“you thought i was going to hit you, y/n” he says quietly, not wrapping his arms around you, just standing there.

“but you weren’t. it was just a force of habit” you try to explain.

“it shouldn’t be. i’m so sorry” he shakes his head, and you hear his voice crack at the end of his sentence.

“jake.. it’s okay” you hug him tighter.

you let out a small sigh when you sense a switch, leaving you to pull out of the hug and backing up.

“i’m sorry love, he’s… he’s not in a talking mood right now” steven starts slowly, and you nod.

“well, i made something for each of you” you begin, walking back to the kitchen, pulling out the single pan which had the three different kinds of muffins.

“i have muffins for all of you. your favorites” you say quietly, and steven smiles.

“that’s the sweetest thing ever” he starts, coming over slowly to put a careful hand around your shoulder.

“we don’t deserve you” marc says from the mirror across from you.

“you’re right” you start. “you deserve better” you finish, and marc chuckles.

“nice to know you still have a sense of humor” 

you roll your eyes with a small smile, wanting to try the muffins you made.

“the banana ones are for you, i made sure that they were vegan” you tell steven, making him put his hands to his heart.

“you’re such a sweetheart, we really don’t deserve this” he smiles, helping himself to one of the muffins.

he offered half of it to you, which you took happily but as you chewed on it, a sharp pain erupted in the back of your jaw, making you wince.

steven looks to you in worry.

“hey, are you alright?” he asks and you shrug.

“i’ve just had a toothache for a while, it’s no big deal” you wave him off, and he gives you a look.

“maybe you should get that checked out, when’s the last time you went to a dentist?” steven asks and you make a face.

“cant remember” you shrug like it’s no problem, and steven raises an eyebrow. 

“are you serious?” he asks and you nod.

“that isn’t healthy, darling, you should try and get an appointment” he advises and you sigh.

after the muffins and the whole lecture about your health, you ended up sitting down with him and watching a couple movies, while trying to lure jake back out.

“i wanna watch triple frontier next” you say and steven chuckles.

“aren’t you tired?”

“yep, it’s your celebrity twin” you smile at him, which makes him raise an eyebrow.

that night was spent watching movies with a certain someone in it.

it concluded of triple frontier, in secret, and many others until you fell asleep.

even thought some of them were 18+, steven still enjoyed his time with you.

jake was still weary about coming back out, even though you had repeated that it was okay, over and over.

steven carried you to your room, tucked you in and kissed you on the fore head before sneakily taking your phone and leaving the room to let you sleep.

he knew it was wrong, all of them admitted it, but it was all for the plan.

you see, your birthday was tomorrow. you hadn’t told them that, khonshu had found it out and told them.

they knew why you didn’t tell them, and it was because it only ever reminded you of when your parents gave you up.

or so you thought. but now it was considerably worse.

it just reminds you of how your mother died and your fathed left.

your dads were determined to make this the best birthday ever for you.
