MY XENOS!!!

This post isn't style related, but I've been itching to talk about my xenos somewhere! And ppl here seem nice enough so I thought I'd indulge :>>

This post is gonna be kind of long?? And it's no specific order, they're all just the ones I identify with the most out of the ones i have!!

Last thing, i got these from Pintrest, so I might not have all descriptions/creds atm :,<

1. Celestial nonhuman

There's no description, but from what I saw this means your gender feels sort of god/godess like, nonhuman, Angelical, or creature like. Unfortunately there were no specific creds either but I believe this was posted by duskprince on pintrest!

I already know my gender feels very non-human, but if I were to specify it it would be with this xeno(or at least this one would be in the top 3 or so~)!!

2. Inkongender

- desc from pintrest: "someone who has a vague inconsistent relationship with gender! Sometimes they may feel like gender doesn't apply to them at all and other times feel like they may have a gender but can't describe the gendered experience they are having. Obviously there's a pattern going on lol. My (art) persona actually very much reflects how I interpret my gender now, as in though they appear to be human they are very much not, and that's how I feel!! I think I'll post them here one day :33

This is actually the first ever xeno I identified with!! I thought for awhile about weather or not it was right for me to seek out xenos to really explain how I experienced my gender, but as soon as I found this one the list kept growing and I don't think I'll ever regret that decision :33

6. Clouvoidic

I saved this one when I started to move on from space genders and started to really notice the nonhuman aspects of my gender (at this time I actually used to send my friends tiktoks of art of these very beautiful creature like beings and would text "gender envy" immediately after, and even tho my tone was jokey I very much felt that way and still do!!)

This is definitely the gender I connect with the most out of all the ones I've got saved up. I feel so inhuman and unnatural (in terms of gender mostly), but in a form that's comprehensive to ppl I guess? Not sure how else to explain it :,>

I love the way I experience my gender so so much. I love how it connects to my audhd and how it doesnt feel restricted by anyone or anything. It's so freeing to me I can't imagine ever going back to just being a girl and being that way forever. I've felt this way since I was at least 9 or 10, and to be able to put it into words today is amazing. Hopefully one of these days I'll transform into something the human eye can't even comprehend and fly off into space somewhere. Sketch Dump - Nov 2023

This month has mostly been a "return" to art for me so my style and art is incredibly inconsistent atm so bear with me hehe.

I've also just started using my sketchbook again and I have a loose goal of finishing it before the end of this year (I will probably not make it lol).

Here's a loose figure drawing and some head sketches. I also wrote down a list of all the ocs I've made over the years and I kind of want to go back and redesign them a bit!

so!! been putting my thoughts in order!

first of all. foxglove no longer has a ponytail. he has a mullet as the almighty intended amen

second of all ! ive been back and forth on a lot of things , especially regarding art, as of late. primaveral was stressing me out for a multitude of reasons, the other forms of toxicology were stressing me out because i was trying to go at them too professionally. truth be told ive been in and out of treatments right now for some severe mental health troubles, and i havent been enjoying art for a very long time

what i'd like to do is start working on toxicology again but less as a professional personal project, and more what it used to be: an amateur hobby ! season change in its earliest form was so extremely fun for me, and toxicology is still deeply important to me & the one thing i constantly go back to once i have the energy again. i think my plan atm is to start working on toxicology itself and just treat it on my own terms / energy levels. this does mean that updates would be inconsistent (probably batches of a few pages and then a bit in between), the style itself would be experimental and awkward at times, etc etc, it wouldnt be polished itd very much be rough but something for fun to try and find the joy in drawing again. this is just a longwinded ramble to say that if (hopefully when) toxicology comes back, itll be very rough, but i appreciate everyone who has stayed this far and still looks forward to updates on my silly silly cat story<33

^ yeah ghoul & party have each other’s handwriting tattooed!! for party it’s one of the only tattoos they have & it’s right over their heart (im sure ive mentioned this fact before but idk if ive explicitly noted that it says ‘sunshine’) and ghoul didn’t have the space to put his right over his heart because poison’s kj symbol is there so his is on his upper arm (they ARE soooooooo 🥺 i love them)

ghoul’s tattoos are a healthy mix of sentimental ink and things he just thought were beautiful. when he met the rest of the four he didn’t have THAT many tattoos because 1. he was 14 2. he’d only been in the zones for a little under a year and a half at that point but the ones he DID have (aka his oldest tattoos) were his knuckle tattoos (‘freed’ and ‘fuck’ what can i say he was 13), the big raven on his upper shoulder and neck (he started believing in the witch very early compared to other cityborns but yeah that tattoo was both a way of symbolizing his devotion to the witch and a way of marking himself as a killjoy/shedding his past in the city in the way that he considered clearest), the fangs on his hand, two bats on his leg, the zombie bite on the other side of his neck (i could get a little more into this but BASICALLY ghoul being an ex-crow trainee + a cityborn + being the only surviving member of his first crew had a problem with feeling inhuman and a lot of survivor’s guilt and so he really. idk he connected a lot with zombies & frankenstein’s monster and ghosts & the like when he was a runner for dr. d post-his crew’s deaths. he got better about Seeing Himself as a Person especially once kobra + the other two showed up but the fascination remained) (also not tattoo-related but that’s when he chose his name. before that he’d been called ‘sandpup’ by his old crew & he never had a chance to tell them before they passed but he really loved that they used that as a name for him especially with how much he didn’t want to associate himself with the city) (ghoul had A Lot of issues but the difference there is that he worked thru them a lot earlier than the rest of the four) and “I FORGIVE U” on the back of his neck (in remembrance of said former crew).

umm along with that kind of fascination with the undead/feeling that kind of connection are the frankenstein stitches on his wrists (tho thats more of a common hc) and he has this pretty big tattoo of abstracted bones following his vertebrae down his throat and chest that he’s gotten expanded/fixed/touched up over the years. ik i do a lot of b&w doodles but i feel like i’ve been kind of inconsistent about coloring (most of his tattoos are color). pretty sure ive mostly drawn them in green (???) but in my head they’re like a faded light blue using natural skin tone as highlights.

his more sentimental tattoos…let me see if i can outline them here. this might not be exhaustive but i will do my best to list what ive figured out at least thus far:

the two little bats on his right thigh are for his grandmother and little sister. his sister (juliet adele fujikawa, b. april 2009 d. december 2014) was killed in a car crash shortly before he left the city, and likewise, his grandmother (charlotte fujikawa [藤川 千尋] b. june 1936 d. december 2014) was “moved to retirement housing” at about the same time. that was pretty much the last straw & ghoul left battery city within the week

there’s his crewmates’ symbols on his chest (in order from his right to left: kobra, jet, party) (gotten when their crew had been together for a while. dating this one is based on a couple things: 1. ghoul had been with them for long enough that he felt secure 2. poison and ghoul were friends by this point, or else he wouldn’t have included their symbol and 3. poison’s is over his heart so you can read into that as you will)

text from the graffiti bible on his right calf, as protection for his crew & as a reminder of one of his former friends who was a droid that believed very strongly in destroya’s return

his raygun on his chest (he was pretty proud of the design! this was when he was ~15 or 16) that he had poison’s added to post-sing post-engagement pre-commitment ceremony (so. september 2023) (yes i have my handwritten timeline + my own drawings + my fics out in front of me rn cross-referencing sldkdksksbx!)

one of the girl’s childhood drawings (one she drew of him & her & the stuffed animal he made for her when she was a baby all having a tea party together) from when she’s about 5 or so on his right hip (december 2022 or so)

shooting stars on his upper right shoulder, partially because they’re pretty and blend well with his other tattoos and partially because they’re a reminder of a lot of things, including but not limited to his first night out in the zones seeing the stars for the first time, stories his grandma used to tell him, and right when he’d first joined the fab four and him & kobra sat on the roof during a meteor shower

besides the other one i already mentioned ^ he has more of poison’s handwriting on his left inner forearm — this is also one ive mentioned before but once they’ve been in a relationship for a while they get into the habit of leaving little love notes around for each other! there’s nothing particularly special specifically about the one he got tattooed, besides the fact that it reminded him of poison and they love each other. the text in full (which i don’t think ive ever put anywhere, though im pretty sure ive put fragments of it in fics and art) is as follows:

Good Morning baby <3! I needed new paints, went on a run. Kobra has the Girl @ the Crash Track, Jet’s at the station. call me when you wake up! I love you, be back soon. XO Party <3

he also has the anniversaries of when they started dating and their commitment ceremony (03•03•21 and 10•26•23 respectively) on the inside of his right wrist ^ !

he’s got a snake wrapping around his left leg that kobra picked out and a hand of cards with the ace of spades face up that jet picked out (and these ofc are because they remind him of his crewmates!!)

he has the phoenix witch tattooed on his ribs, left side, styled vaguely after catholic saints (since that imagery can still be found in the inner zones & especially where ‘joys who still practice that religion gather!)

there’s a version of the eye from the mailbox on his right shoulder, and this one is also a sort of symbol of protection/good luck, to show devotion to the witch and to help protect himself and his crew

the constellation libra on his left forearm! this one was done a little while after he started running transmissions and supplies for dr. d! he liked the connection that astrology — whether he believed in the practice or not is up for debate — gave people to the stars, and the feeling that he had a place in the universe, predestined or not

after charlie is born, he gets a portrait of her (~age 4) with her name and birthday underneath done on his left thigh! (~2036)

and on his lower back, he has a fairly simple tattoo of two crows on a wire with their beaks pressed together (aughhhhhh romance) that he gets done as an anniversary surprise for their 10-year (so. 2033)!

his non-sentimental tattoos are largely based off of images from books, either from dr. d’s collection when he was working as a runner for him or from cherri’s after he joined up with the fab four, or else they’re naturally occurring in the zones!! this includes but is not limited to: california golden poppies on the back of his left shoulder, strawberries around his left bicep (he doesn’t ever have a strawberry until he’s like 35, this one is absolutely based off of a particularly pretty illustration), a thundercloud with lightning on his left elbow, a moon on his right inner bicep, a ring of thorns around his right forearm right under the elbow, a dagger on his inner left calf, and a sun, small bat, cross, rose, ribbon (with the word ‘faith’ in script), and wing on his right forearm and hand, all picked from flash sheets

so yeah! that’s about everything i have to say about ghoul’s tattoos atm but ty ty ty sm for letting me ramble abt them i think about his tattoos so much 😔❤️

Hi Anon !

Thank you for this lovely ask ! I am super happy to know you spend time exploring my drawings ! It means the hours I spend on them are not for nothing hehe ! The blurring effect (I also call it that xD) is supposed to bring depth to the drawing and help focus on certain parts (the face for instance). It’s a simple “Gaussian blur” effect :)

As to how I found my style and why I choose this style... WOW, such a tricky - but very good - question !

Because I don’t think I have really “found my style” yet ? And I don’t think a style is (or should be) unchanging. Just see the way Masashi Kishimoto ‘s artstyle changed throughout the Naruto serie... Same for Natsuki Takaya who drew Fruits Basket for instance !

But I think people slowly find a style they are comfortable with by :

1. Practicing, a lot. After a while, there are things you draw a certain way, out of habit and because it feels comfortable ( I do sometimes use my own art as a reference though, otherwise my style would be pretty inconsistent I think).

2. Getting inspired by / studying other artists work (not copying though !) I follow A LOT of different artists on Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram. I try not to follow too many artists with the exact same style, and seek inspiration in the beautiful diversity that art can provide. I follow people with a heavy manga/anime artstyle for the way they do the lineart, another artist because I like the way they draw eyes, or jawline, or whatever... Another artist because I love how they play with light and shadows, another one for their composition technique, another one for their bold choice of color and texture... 

I believe my main inspiration up until now were anime/manga (there are so many, I can’t name them all haha) and otome games. But I know it’s not set in stone and I actually crave a bit of change :) I do have “goals” in mind, whether it being the way I draw my characters or the way I color them. I am kinda satisfied with my proportions (kinda), but I would like my drawings to be more dynamic and, my coloration style to be less... Sparkly, and have more texture instead.

Atm, I am really digging the coloring technique of @/juliettecousin (her NSFW Smutember serie is to die for), the colors and composition of @/sarakipin, as well as @/elibaumbg lineless art, colors and texture... all of them are quite different from my current artstyle, but I’d like to explore a bit and mix my current style with whatever element I can learn from them :) because they are very hard-working and talented artists.

Status: just started outlining (so this title is a placeholder I came up with five mins ago)

Synopsis/what I have so far:

There’s an internet celebrity in [city name]. A beautiful girl, of course. A dangerous girl.

She doesn’t have to touch you to send you flying. She doesn’t even have to notice you there. The carefully styled bobbed hair and soft springtime clothes are tricks; she’s worse than those who are known to extort others for money. It’s a confirmed fact, since she’s already defeated them all, with filmed evidence that made her a celebrity in the first place.

This would not be baffling if she were a Muse, but she’s not. This would not be so much a surprise if the dangers residing in her vicinity aren’t so inconsistent in timing, as if there were another person behind it - a Muse. But like most non-Muses, she interacts mostly with other non-Muses. Her current social standing does not call for her to make a habit of defending Muses, or god forbid, befriending them. Unless... She is a Muse?

There is an internet celebrity in [city name] whose fame stems from appearing as a Muse and a non-Muse all at once - an acceptable member of society who may also belong in the dregs of it.

Her name is Hoàng Thanh Yến.

There is a boy determined to be a shadow. In fact, his name - Nguyễn Hữu Kiên - means “very determined,” so you could almost say he’s destined for this.

Not that he would ever say it. He may be good in combat, but he’s bad at resisting authority - and his parents are nothing if not authority because the household is the only place they can control anything in their lives. It doesn’t matter that he’s old enough and capable enough to move out and support himself financially; he doesn’t seem to ever stop being a kid.

There is one person who doesn’t care that he has an Art. At least, if it bothers her, she doesn’t say it outright. At least she lets him hang around like a shadow.

Favorite musician: Mm, I’m not so sure if I have one! I’m open to a lot of types of musics so I generally enjoy all songs :3

Random Fact: The name I use, Void, originates from Doctor Who I believe? I wanted to center myself around the concept of this ‘emptiness’ that surrounds everything and use it as a way to bring people together. And eventually it became my go-to name for a lot of things! :3

In the midst of my existential crisis over Night Channels, I’ve been writing other stuff. All Yoonmin. I thought I might put together some samples, some intro paragraphs and summaries.

Gin and Sin

Modern ABO AU - Jimin and Yoongi are Omega and Alpha rights activists, respectively, lobbying on opposite political ends. Things fall apart when they meet in person.

I’m about 10k words in and this one is already very very NSFW. There’s cheating... neither Yoongi nor Jimin have much self-control in the face of their compatibility, despite their political agendas, and it’s a bit of a moral dilemma. Questionable morals and long in-depth talks about ABO dynamics. I guess that’s my MO.

Sleep Well Beast

Pack ABO AU - Outlines Yoongi and Jimin’s journey from pups in their pack to being a mated pair. Everything is perfect and idyllic until the day Yoongi doesn’t come back from a hunt. Six years after he never comes back, a gnarled black wolf starts showing up on the edges of Jimin’s new life. Very angsty. Like. The saddest thing I’ve ever written? I wrote the bulk of the 6k words (so far) listening to Call Out My Name on repeat for hours and hours. I literally have 200 plays of that song. This is how it starts:

The day Jimin met Yoongi he was a newborn pup, eyes still gummed shut, grouped together in a large nest with the other pups born that Spring. Yoongi’s mom was in charge of looking over the young that season, and Yoongi—a very curious two-(and-a-half!)-year-old—often accompanied her. Turning from human to wolf was not well controlled among newborns, and their inconsistent transformations only added to the confusion of adjusting to life outside the womb. Yoongi would lay among the pups, let them grip his fur with their small fists, and would lick their faces clean until they stopped crying.

Episodic and visceral.

Dark Matter

College AU - Jimin moves into a new house the summer before his junior year in college. He loves his new roommates, all unique and genius in their various graduate and undergraduate fields. He doesn’t see Yoongi much though, summer schedules diametrically opposed, so he’s forced to build a picture of the man through brief weekend encounters and the information he gathers from his other roommates. He wants to pull Yoongi into the circle, the perfect group of 7, but from what he’s heard about his hyung, his approach might need to be a bit unconventional.

This one is kind of different... Jimin hears that Yoongi is unaffected, that he uses people for his goals (music inspiration, etc.) and wants to prove that he can do the same to Yoongi, turn it around on him. 12k words so far. The narration is a bit more... cool? Casual? Jimin is a bit egotistical. (Yoongi lives in the attic!!!) Here’s a snippet:

They leave the small living room and Namjoon leads him down a small hall and into the kitchen. It’s decidedly... stocked for a bachelor pad kitchen. The countertops are granite, laden with every kitchen appliance or food gadget that Jimin can put a name to, a ton that he can’t. Cereal, chips, snacks, fruit. Shiny pots and pans dangle from a rack above the island. They have three coffee makers, two microwaves, and a huge fridge covered with all manner of crayon-scrawled drawings of dicks. Dicks with hats, dicks dressed as devils, dicks with butterfly wings.

“Creative,” Jimin insists, leaning in to examine a dick in the style of The Mona Lisa.

Namjoon smiles. “Those are the weekly masterpieces of our lovely Taehyung. Photo and Studio Arts double major.”

Jimin nods sagely. “He sounds brilliant.”

Lit Me Up  (Title will prob change)

Sci-Fi AU, might be set in the early OW universe if you squint really really hard - Jimin is the last member to join a new squad of 7 slapped together hastily under the insistence of Namjoon, who’s fighting desperately to find a useful place for Yoongi within the budding South Korean Soldier Enhancement Program. As the other 6 try to sort Yoongi’s mess, Jimin develops his own powers amid needles and fever dreams and weeks of drug-induced sleep. Jimin might just be the piece of the puzzle that Namjoon needs to fix Yoongi and make them a viable team.

I’m really excited but really unsure about this one. The first 3k words have no names, each member has a number (in the order they joined Bangtan IRL), and it’s confusing, but that’s ok because Jimin is confused too! Like. This could be cool. Really cool. Inspired by 137 and Lit Me Up by Brand New. Echoes of greek mythos kinda, in the roles/abilities they have. This is how it starts ATM:

1 was brave and calculating 2 was sturdy and magnanimous 3 was bright and optimistic 4 was versatile and strong 5 was unblemished and unyielding 6 was insouciant and charismatic 7 was:

Vomiting everywhere, stomach a black hole opened out of spite to regurgitate every atom of celestial matter ever sucked down its dark maw. He focused on the thick folder of papers slid halfway across his inset bunk bed, trying to remember the single page of orientation papers he’d managed to read before he’d grabbed the nearest trash can and promptly started upchucking into it, his regulation fiber-rich diet looking much more substantial on the way up than it had on the way down. They had pricked him with needles and given him a dorm number and a handy packeted guide to his life for the next who-knew-how-many-years and sent him on his hapless way. He’d found the dorm and a seat and had promptly started vomiting.

The narration is definitely more colorful in this one. Lots of metaphor. This is how he meets Yoongs:

He sobbed pathetically in the aftermath of the second wave, convinced that he was on the verge of exploding, imploding, dying—hands gripping anything within reach. He had a few seconds of respite to cry but soon felt the pricks of a third wave starting. He tensed his muscles in preparation, but suddenly felt his upper body being lifted up. He was shoved into a seated position momentarily, only to be dropped back down onto something... something squishy and warm and kind of bony. He couldn’t open his eyes, didn’t want to witness whatever was digesting him alive, apprehensive as the sensation began to build again. To his shock, two large hands cupped his jaw, squeezing firmly—but not too hard—and this time when the sensation peaked it only felt like his body was covered in bad sunburn. His skin smarted against bed and tense fingers, but soon the pain slowly ebbed and was gone. The hands that had been clenching the sides of his head slid down to open his jaw.

A pill, a choke, a shudder, and he was sleeping again.

7 drifted in and out of shallow consciousness, eyes blinking open blurrily. He had vivid dreams, visions of battling elements and liquid landscapes that shifted in torrential open waves and smeared entire ecosystems out of existence. Forests set ablaze, life and love choked out and broken down to basic elements buffeted by opaque smoke and blankets of ash.

He opened his eyes to see someone sitting behind him, his head on their lap, but all he could make out was a tensely clenched jaw, eyes covered with dark, wavy bangs. He felt fingers around his throat and idly wondered if they were the reason why he felt like he was suffocating. No. They were cool on his skin, slippery almost. He closed his eyes and dreamed.

Bones of the earth washed up on shores, stones of every color and makeup piled to form beaches of rock and glass, planets buffeting into planets and shattering to form larger, dustier planets. The universe’s initial eruption, humanity formed in its penultimate act just to witness its final destruction. Everything happening at once.

So that’s what I’ve been working on.

I’m also 8k into Night Channels chapter 5. It’s in Jimin’s POV. It’s a good time. I’m scared. I really hope I finish it soon. Cheers~
