Now, when I think of dwobbit Frodo and how these rules apply to him... If Thorin is Not Alive, he grows up in the Shire as the weird, tall kid with the huge eyes (nothing has changed). Everyone gossips about where he came from, but it's mostly an open secret. Lobelia fucking hates him, not because she's racist but because he's Bilbo's heir (again, nothing new there)

Now, if Thorin lived, Frodo would be a Prince... huh! Even if he's the King's only son, Fili has already been declared heir to the throne and everyone agrees it's only fair it stays that way. Frodo is a very spoiled baby, lmao. At first Thorin had to deal with a lot of scrutiny from Erebor's council and Lords, which he took in stride. No one's taking this happiness from him :)

thinking about dwobbits again!!! these are my personal headcanons:

children born from hobbit/dwarf pairings are not that rare, but you wouldn't know you met a dwobbit unless they told you! they usually take after one of their parents, so if you meet a "dwarf" with pointy ears or a "hobbit" with sharper features... now you know why!

hobbits are not as prudish as they'd like you to think, and not many dwarves wish to marry, so children out of wedlock are a thing that happens (and their custody battles are legendary)

sadly, while children are precious in both hobbit and dwarven societies, the people of middle earth have a tendency towards prejudice. mixed kids are seen as outsiders by many (some dwarves would even argue against teaching their cultural practices to a "half-blooded" child, though these are a minority)

Hello! I hope you're well! I was wondering if I could get a hobbit matchup for my oc Clara! She's a half-breed, a dwobbit, and is 4'1, chubby, and strong. She's really good with the broadsword, loves to write and learn about history, very talented baker, and a certified dumbass. However, she is very smart.

She can be very stubborn at times, and has a tendency to procrastinate on practically everything that doesn't interest her, and get's her energy from having alone time. Also, she's so touch-starved it's not even funny. Anyone so much brushes her hand, she's thinking about it for the next week.

Despite all that, she's a very sweet and kind person. She'll always be making sure everyone is feeling okay, and she's the go-to friend for others needing to talk/rant about their issues. She gives great advice, and knows how to offer others comfort while working through their problems.

Also, she's never really been insecure. Despite not fitting the beauty standars for both hobbits and dwarves, she knows her worth. She thinks she's cute af, and she doesn't care if others don't agree. The only reason she gets self-conscious if she thinks she's been talking weirdly or not at the right time. So she doesn't usually say much around people she's not completely comfortable with.

• Kili himself is an average baker. He can make great chocolate-chip cookies, but that’s the extent of his knowledge. He does love to bake with you though! He’s great at following instructions and has a great taste for decoration.

• Surprisingly, Kili does not procrastinate. He always has to busy himself, so if it’s by doing chores, he will. He will help you with whatever it is you have to do. He’ll encourage you to make it or will even split the activity if it’s too much for you!

• Listen, this puppy LOVES physical affections; Hugs, cuddled, holding hands, kissing, playful punches etc. He LOVES it. Physical affection is his love language for a reason. He will definitely cuddle with you, hold hands, whatever you’re most comfortable with. Never grows tired of holding you.

• He doesn’t really complain that much, but after a long day, he will need someone to talk to. You’ll just hold him as he rants in your arms, knowing you will listen to him. You will calm him down and talk to him, to which he feels great after!

• 100% loves your confidence. He himself has a very low self-esteem, but looking at you loving yourself gives him a confidence boost too! He will notice when you think negatively about yourself when you did something you didn’t really agree on. He will support you and tell you exactly how much he loves you and that you shouldn’t stress about it too much. He loves you too much for you to hate yourself, really.

As I spoke Clifford stopped filling out his incident report and glanced over his shoulder. I scowled back at him as fiercely as I could, ignoring the vomit-inducing spinning of the room to express my complete and utter contempt.

Lips pursed, he pushed his chair away from his desk. “You know,” he said slowly as he turned, “When Irene said that painkiller brew was probably going to make you mean, this isn’t how I thought she meant.”

I snarled and lunged upward only to fall back into cushions with a gurgling moan. My vision whirled. Everything whirled. And no matter how much I tried to move my limbs they refused to do more than flop uselessly. I was trapped. I couldn’t see what held me in place, but surely there was something. Why else would everything be so heavy?

“Tell your couch to unhand me this instant.”

So I decided to design my own version of the characters from the hobbit and lord of the rings. Of course, me being me, we both know I’ll start with the hobbit. 

We have Thorin II Oakenshield, son of Thráin, son of Thror, King Under the Mountain.

Fíli and Kíli, sons of Dís, daughter of Thráin.

And finally, Dís, daughter of Thráin, son of Thror.

THORIN II OAKENSHIELD

•Thorin has white hair since that’s part of his description in the book, instead of a blue hood, I gave him this outfit instead, he has more piercings here and the only gold item is the nose ring he has.

���He is demisexual homoromantic.

•He kind of favours Fíli over Kíli and disapproves of Kíli’s choice of weaponry.

•He sucks at flirting. (Like he is a disaster with it. He’ll accidentally insult you by saying something he means to be nice and romantic)

•Despite his favouritism, he’s still a walking mother hen with both his nephews (or any children under his care)

•After he snaps out of his gold sickness, he shears his beard.

•He kisses Bilbo with his dying breath.

•Ignore that, he marries Bilbo after he recovers from his wounds.

•Then they have magical dwobbit babies together.(Frodo is defo the eldest)

•The reason why he wears a shirt is because he has to hide a tattoo he got after a drunken night with Dwalin. (Dwalin dared him to do it, he swears.)

•Is actually dyslexic. 

•Helps friends and fam with carving out Stoneborn children, (this is vital to the story I’m writing.)

•Nearly cries when Bilbo cuts his hair short in Rivendell. (He swore vengeance there but Bilbo shot down the idea before it even left his lips.)

•Is the world’s biggest sap

•I’m not even joking. 

•Fairly decent cook on the road, horrible one at home

•He doesn’t know why it happens

FÍLI

•Is given the book description, now with more beard and hair.

•Looks serious, but has occasional mischief.

•Has vitiligo.

•Is actually pretty damn vain with his appearance.

•Meets an elf in Mirkwood named Anoriel, this time it was he that pulled the ‘i could have anything down my trousers’ trick on her. (Except its more like loincloth haha) She actually sticks her hand down there and she honestly didn’t want to know why there’s a dagger there. (She also screamed while Fíli was blushing hard)

•Is more sedate than Kíli.

•But that doesn’t mean he’s not a flirt

•He is

•He’s a big flirt (he’s a crown prince baby you can trust him)

•The sash indicates that he is the heir to Thorin.

•At first he was self conscious of his vitiligo but Balin (who also has vitiligo) helped him through it.

•Despite being Thorin’s clear favourite, he is actually way closer to Balin.

•Is Thorin’s wingman, he can weave poetry out of thin air.

•When he smiles, he’ll knock you down, you’ll fall apart. (and you thought you were so smart)

•Hates mornings. Like he will death glare the floor until he’s properly awake.

•Can’t stand spicy food.

•Loves weird food instead. (Chicken intestines, pig’s blood stew, blood cubes, etc.)

•Has never gotten drunk in his life.

•He doesn’t want to see what’ll happen if he does,

•Has a tendency to clean his nails with the tips of his knives. (Uncle Thorin nearly got a heart attack when he began doing it.)

•Despite his lesser amount of clothing, he still has an impossible amount of knives.

•They’re in his hair.

•Don’t touch his hair.

•He’s very ticklish but he has a knee jerk reaction so tickle him and you’re dead.

•I’m not sure if he means it in the funny friendly human way.

•Prefers archery and knows a crap tonne about survival in the wilderness.

•Is engaged to Thorin III Stonehelm (in this verse, they throw the word cousin around freely for people they trust even if they’re not even related. Just pretend they’re not related)

•Doesn’t care for fancy stuff, literally just goes for what he has on hand.

•Loves sweets to death.

•See that ring? That’s Thorin III’s courting gift to him. (It’s a family heirloom passed down from Thorin III’s Great grandfather to his grandfather and so on and so forth.) it’s practically worthless but it was passed down due to the fact that it was a safety charm made with love by Thorin III’s great grandmother for his great grandfather.

•Doesn’t have anything against elves, but he does like to rile them up cause of the faces they make.

•Is fond of dancing and singing on tables when drunk.

•Don’t let him get drunk.

•He’s a happy clingy drunk.

•Has the worst self esteem among the line of Durin. Is scared of friends, fam and lovers leaving him.

•Likes (Loves) fruit pies

•Socially awkward child. Does not know how to do court etiquette (dwarven court etiquette)

•Very unsure about Thorin Oakenshield’s affection for him and thinks that Fíli is the only one that matters in fam.

•But he still loves them all the same

DÍS

•Has trimmed beard to mourn her husband’s death

•Scary with daggers and throwing knives

•Loves Dáin’s war pigs to death (especially his personal boar, Bubbles)

•a bit short tempered but knows how to mask it very well

•Very close to Frerin but when he was “gone” (not dead because I’ve got a story for that) she was very devastated and clung to Thorin since Frerin can’t be there to comfort her anymore

•Likes honey biscuits

•Good at tattooing and blacksmithing

•The gem of Ered Luin and the Light of Erebor

•She met Bilbo once and the two were amicable to each other, Bilbo baked her a crap tonne of sweets and pastries while she gave him tips on home repair.

•In the verse I made, she sucker punches Thorin when she reached Erebor for being dumb before proceeding to aggressively coddle and cuddle her brother and sons back to health

•Married husband who’s a simple miner

•Had to give Thorin a bit of an earful before they were allowed to court.

•Favours a battle axe over any other weapon (Dwalin was so proud)

•The last to find out about Kíli’s courtship and all because she caught Thorin III and her son giving very affectionate forehead bumps and hair tugging.

•She was not pleased

•She demanded they at least start over since they didn’t have much time for courting before Kíli and Thorin separated due to the quest and all.

•Is scary awesome with sparring, in a group thing she always groups with Dwalin, Dáin and Dori and they always win when they fight against different groups.

•She doesn’t tell Bilbo that he’s welcome to the family since she already saw him as a member long before Bilbo was even courted by her daft brother.

•Gave Kíli his tattoo and Fíli got his tattoos from her too.

•Isn’t really okay with elves but since Fíli’s One is an elf, she tries to be fine with it.

•Loves to dance.

•Enjoys making food like sinigang and afritada only since it’s middle earth I guess it has different names?

•Is Dáin and Dwalin’s drinking buddy.

•Thorin thought it was Dwalin that got him that tattoo. But in truth it was her.

•She was against it but he kept insisting he’s fiiine so okay fine but he shouldn’t come crying to her if he doesn’t like the tattoo.

•During her free time, she likes to travel to visit Bilbo when they arrange a meeting in Bree.

•She kinda got attached to Bilbo ok they’re bffs

•When she finds out Bilbo can have babies she’s over the moon and just gets excited since she didn’t know he could carry and are they gonna have an announcement soon does Thorin know and are they trying for one

•When Frodo’s born she almost cried when Bilbo calls her the godmother. (She doesn’t know what it means but bilbo explains that should anything happen to him or Thorin - knock on wood- she will be in charge of Frodo.)

1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest?

I mean, if we’re talking literal shelves, everything just got put on this one when I moved back home two years ago. But of all the books on there, the oldest is a ratty paper back of Stormy, Misty’s Foal which is quintessential girl-horse-book phase that I actually had to travel all the way to Mississippi to steal back from a friend who borrowed it for about eight years. 

2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next?

I am currently reading both Frank Herbert’s Dune (which is crazy weird) and beta reading for a fellow writer. Last book I read was Neil Gaiman’s The Sleeper and The Spindle which I highly recommended to anyone who likes graphic novels/fairy tales because the art is GORGEOUS. On my list after I finish these two is probably Dianna Wynne Jones House of Many Ways (although I might have to reread Howl’s Moving Castle first for proprieties sake ;) )

Oh wait! but I’m supposed to read Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt next for @bymylights because she loved the book so much. 

3. Which book does everyone like and you hated?

I mean, Catcher in the Rye was the bane of my existence in high school but I think most people dislike that now. Actually, a lot of classics are that way for me. Hated Wuthering Heights and all things Ernest Hemingway. Also the big YA series (Hunger Games, Divergent, even Percy Jackson, but mostly cause I was older when it came out) don’t hold my interest in the way that most people adore them.

4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?

I mean, I’ve been saying I was gonna read the Jungle Book for months now, but I’ve been putting it off for months now. I really hope I do get to it though. I’m hesitant though because I really didn’t like Man Who Would Be King.  

5. Which book are you saving for “retirement?”

I was not aware this was a thing. I will never run out of books to read, I think, so I’m not really worried. 

6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end?

Usually I’ll leave it til the end. Sometimes if I don’t really care about the book, I’ll skip. I used to be much more prescriptive about not skipping but I’m kinda over it now. 

7. Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?

I love acknowledgements. The first few are usually really interesting and personal before they go all Oscar speech and just start acknowledging everyone. But they give you little glimpses about the author, like dedications. 

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

Eowyn, Lord of the Rings. No hesitations. No regrets. Let me be Eowyn, please I beg you. 

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?

Sooooooo many. I have a memory associated with where I read pretty much any book, but to keep the list short, probably Magician’s Nephew. It will always remind me of my mother, incandescent lights in a dingy trailer in my grandparents backyard. 

10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way.

I have a copy of Terry Brooks Magic Kingdom For Sale which I got at Shakespeare and Company in Paris. My sister really loves Terry Brooks books, I kind of got it on a whim as my souvenir from Paris. I have a book of Breton fairy tales in German for the same reason. Basically I bought books everywhere during my year on exchange and those are my favourite bookes. 

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

I did a book exchange last year and gave my sister’s friend a copy of Robin Mckinley’s The Hero and the Crown and wrote her a whole letter on the inside cover telling her why I loved the book. Apparently said friend loved the letter and the book and that was really heart warming, because I found the protagonist of that story so inspiring and I was happy it only inspired another young woman. 

12. Which book has been with you to the most places?

Ooooooh, I don’t know. I don’t often take books with me more than once? Probably my copies of Lord of the Rings since if I’m not reading anything in particular I’ll bring them with me in case I get bored or need emotional support. But now that I have an eReader I tend to bring that instead. 

13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad ten years later?

No. The books I hated in high school I still hate vehemently. 

14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book?

A dried rose. That was pretty cool, though. 

15. Used or brand new?

Both have their own benefits and aesthetics. I think hard cover (if I EVER buy hard cover) I prefer new, but mostly I like used books for two reasons. 1) They’re much, much cheaper and 2) I prefer the older illustrated covers. If it’s a book that has a movie or even just most modern books and their life-like people (I’m thinking a lot of the Throne of Glass series here). . . I don’t like that. I find it off putting. I want crudely drawn, water-colour or just flat matte colours with geometric designs. You don’t tend to see many of those these days. 

16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses?

Gotta admit, never actually read any Stephen King. Probably should. 

17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?

See, often I’ll like movies better because I didn’t read the book, like the first Percy Jackson (not the second dumpster fire) or the first Maze Runner (again, not the second). 

OH! The Princess Bride, duh. The book is hilarious in it’s own right, but the book is a parody/satire of romance, whereas the movie is a true adventure romance. So I love them both for different reasons, but I grew up watching the movie and it just hits every note perfectly and I love it. 

18. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid?

Ugh, the Eragon movie was a nightmare. I didn’t like the sequels anyway, but the first book was really good and the movie just ruined everything except Brom. Poor Jeremy Irons didn’t stand a chance, though. 

19. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?

Oh my gosh, Sunshine by Robin McKinley and literally every Redwall book. I dunno how Brian Jacques makes animal food sound soooooo good but it’s basically food porn. 

20. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

Ooooooh, I don’t think I’ve found that person. I try to take all advice and genuinely look into books recommended to me, but I’m so busy I’m picky about what I actually dig into.

How Cuddle-able are your OCs?

Lovely Teeth: Anador is my supposed current project so lets do that one! (Though I’d happily do another cast if I were tagged again? *nudge*)

Javianna: (6/10) Years of neglect have left Javi a little awkward on the “expressions of physical affections” front, but the pack is teaching her as fast as they can! Not where she could be yet, but she’‘s learning and more than happy to practice with you!

Jezzmir: (8/10) Gives excellent hugs, but the trouble is initiating one with him. His Lecorium upbringing (and vampiric nature) has made Jezzmir somewhat averse to making physical contact unless it’s shown as explicitly welcome. Once you convince him however he puts all his height and softness into it so prepare to be engulfed in cuddly vampire arms. Will definitely run his fingers through your hair. Danger: you or Jezz himself may fall asleep mid-hug. It’s just that relaxing. (also he perpetually smells of sleepy-time tea, zzzz)

Cedric: (7/10) A disclaimer: Cedric gives amazing hugs. They’re very warm, very eager, and super cozy. He loses points because he often smells like dog (wolf halflings, amiright?) and while it isn’t by any means an unpleasant dog-smell, it can be strong. He also has a tendency to pick you up and carry you around whether you were doing something where you were or not like an obnoxious older brother.

Cerra: (10/10) A!! GOOD!! HUGGER! Cerra will give you all the hugs! She loves cuddling and hugging and touching and snuggling! Hug her once and she’ll gleefully latch on in greeting forever after. Always. You cannot escape. She will find you. And she will hug you. You have been warned.

Ter: (6/10) Ter doesn’t usually hug so much as let you hug him. He isn’t against them, he’s just a little lazy and prefers to have affections placed upon him. He’s very comfortable to lay across in halfling form especially since all the good eating he enjoys has made his pelt nice and silky smooth.

Griff: (100/10) Uncontested hugging champ. Big and furry and toasty warm in both human and were form. Will hug you for fun and hug you DOUBLE if you look like you need it. And he’s more than happy to cuddle with you as long as you need (so long as Cerra can contribute. she gets jealous when she can’t also give her husband the SNUGS). Absolutely the go-to hug when you’re feeling down, because he will give it to you without a word or question.

Rekr: (10/10) A CUDDLEBUG. A GIANT, SWEET, WARM, CUDDLEBUG. In both forms Rekr has the warmth of a thousand suns and an aggressive desire to snuggle. He will drape himself over you and pin you down wherever you are, and probably fall asleep right there. And you will let him, because he’s like a warm weighted blanket and is very cute when he snores.

Kish: (0/10) Kish won’t hug you. Point blank, she will not. If you try she’s liable to snap at you or at the very least shove you away. “I hate hugs and I hate you,” she’ll say, storming off. You’ll see her looking sulky when the others come to hug you instead, but no matter how jealous she seems she still won’t go for it.

BONUS HUGS--

Victor: (10/10) Super hard to lure into one but if you manage it you’ll find he gives the WARMEST, GENTLEST HUGS EVER. Will cradle you nice and close and melt in your arms. You have not known true tranquility and safety until you’ve been snuggled up tight to that princely body with very careful claws running down your back. Has a 90% chance of tucking your face to his neck and purring. Also, he smells like chocolate, and who can’t appreciate that?

Reg: (8/10) Admittedly kind of an awkward hugger but he does put his heart into it. He tends to anticipate immediate rejection to physical contact so coaxing a hug from him can be difficult, but once he realizes you aren’t going to recoil or get squeamish you’ll get a warm, tight hug that only the most touch-starved of people can provide. Will definitely hold on until you move away first, and will step back with way too many embarrassed apologies.

Barl: (-10/10) Might have been a good hugger on account of body mass, but any enjoyment you might have found is tarnished by a bad attitude and generally unpalatable demeanor. You do not want his hugs. If he reaches for one I’d say deny it, but at that point you likely don’t have a choice.

Reese: (4/10) If you enjoy hugging someone who will cling to you like a person drowning then you’re in luck, because his hugs are tight, clingy, and desperate. Also cold. Very, very cold. Like hugging a thin, gangly corpse. You won’t be going anywhere for a while if this one gets his arms around you, especially if he decides he wants a snack while your neck is so close by.

Vanquier: (??/10)  :) go ahead. Hug the pupper and see what happens.

Tagged by @lilymaidofgallifrey again! Reading your answers made me basically feel like we were twins, so I had to work to keep myself from saying the same things as you ;) (Hamilton and Les Mis yaaaaaaaaaaaaaas)

A—Age: 22 (I don’t know why I have to think about it every time. Honestly, I never know how old I am. 

B—Birthplace: Toronto, Canada

C—Current Time: 6:07 PM EST

D—Drink You Last Had: Chocolate milk (yum! Also, I have tea sitting right next to me)

E—Easiest Person To Talk To: My mum, @bymylights, and also my friend Khylah

F—Favourite Song: I have to pick ONE????? Right now, After Laughter has been on repeat for weeks, so let’s go with that. 

G—My dad made me hold a raw turkey liver once. . . that was fun. 

H—Horror Yes or Horror No: NOPE. NOPE. I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WEIRDOS LIKE BEING SCARED. 

I—In Love: With myself ;) (self-love is valid!); also, platonically with all my friends. Friends are the best. 

J—Jealous of People: Mostly of people who are further along as writers than I am. I read their amazing stories and I hate them for their talent and then they turn out to be such lovely people I can’t hate them any more. 

Also tall people. Why am I the shortest in my family. 

M—Middle Name: I don’t love giving away personal information online (cause I’m paranoid) but I will say I was named after my grandmother on a bribe. Whoever gave their kid her name will inherit what is apparently an expensive brass bed frame. Of course, that just means everyone jokes I’m going to get the bed she dies in. We are a sarcastic family with lots of morbid humour. 

N—Number of Siblings: 3, one older, two younger. 

O—One Wish: I have to pick ONE??? 

P—Person You Called Last: A total stranger because I was trying to call @bymylights and I couldn’t remember her phone number. 

Q—Question You Are Always Asked: 1) So do you even ride a bike (because I’m the only girl working at a bike shop)? 2) So any men in your life yet? (both questions piss me off equally). 

R—Reason to Smile: I finally get to see Wonder Woman tonight!!!!!

S—Song You Sang Last: Literally just sang “Wait For It” from Hamilton while making tea (because Aaron Burr is my baby. I understand you, child). 

T—Time You Woke Up: 8:30am. Slept in because I had such a people hangover from a friend’s bridal shower + bachelorette this weekend. 

U—Underwear Colour: Ummmmm . . . awkward. . .TMI: I’m doing laundry, so currently none. 

V—Vacation Destination: Somewhere secluded. Probably Ireland, if I got a choice.

W—Worst Habit: Nail biting. and I get paralysed when there are too many choices I’m trying to make so I make none and hope it works out and it doesn’t so I should really learn. 

X—X-Rays: Mostly face. Had a lot of orthodontics as a kid, so constant teeth x-rays to see how they were growing in. 

Y—Your Favourite Food: STOP MAKING ME PICK ONE. I mean, I love seafood. I eat pasta too many times a week though. PIE. THE ANSWER IS PIE. 

Z—Zodiac Sign: *googles* Libra
