Thoughts on Dr Emerie

(Spoilers for Mando Ch 19 also coming up)

So I keep feeling like there's something off with Dr Emerie, like she almost doesn't want to be doing what she is. And I keep feeling like there's something more going on with her, but I'm not sure what.

But what if she's the one that told Rex and the others about the prison ship?

Tarkin said that it had to be an inside informant, probably a group of rogue clones. Makes sense, but what if it's Emerie? What if she's not happy with the experiments they are running or doesn't agree with the Empire's plan?

I find it odd how easily Crosshair could escape off the table. One of his wrists wasn't bound down, which seems like a pretty big error to make. Unless it wasn't an error. Maybe it was intentional. What if Emerie purposefully left him like that, knowing that he would send a distress signal? Because she doesn't do much to try and stop him either.

And I also find it interesting that Crosshair stunned her. He didn't kill her and I wonder if it's because Crosshair doesn't sense her to be as much of a threat as the others.

She let Crosshair escape so that he could send a message to the Batch. They would then come to rescue him, along with the group of clones that they've been building (due to her intel), aiming to put a stop to the Empire's operations.

I know people have compared her to Dr Pershing and I think it goes further than just similar character designs. Dr Pershing wants to use his research for good. He doesn't support what the Empire did. It even goes as far back as Mando S1 when he says that they would've killed Grogu if he hadn't stopped them. He was never fully on board with their plans.

I think it's the same for Emerie. @eriexplosion brought up a theory earlier that Hemlock and Emerie let Crosshair escape, knowing that he would contact the Batch, and they did this to lure them to Cross, allowing the Empire to get to Omega. They would effectively be using Crosshair as a trap without his knowledge. And it's a plausible theory. But what if Hemlock has nothing to do with it? What if it's Emerie trying to sabotage the Empire's experiments?

I just find it interesting that they specifically brought up a group of inside clones leaking information. Sure, it makes sense for there to be clone informants, but what if there aren't? What if the person leaking intel is actually one of their own scientists who no longer agrees with their plans and is trying to teat the operation down?

Just a theory.

A good TV show? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to watch a good TV show. I'm not doing this because I want a good plot, or because the CGI is good. It's not because it's well written and God knows it's not because it's consistent with its lore. It's not even because the episodes make sense, because they hardly ever do. I watch what I watch, because it's Fun! Because it's weird! And above all, it's the one show where they can be unapologetically queer and have Donna's daughter be trans because fuck the bigots. It's just that. Its just fun.

you have GOT to remember when watching the new doctor who that the question is not is this good. doctor who is only ever actually 'good' once a season at most. THE ONLY QUESTION IS is it fun, camp, and has aliens. also remember the worst doctor who showrunner is always the current doctor who showrunner. now go watch the new episodes as god intended like you're ten years old and still remember how to experience joy and whimsy.
