Do you have any unique differences in how to draw Wukong compared to Macaque? And if so would you ever be willing to make a post on it? 👀

Couple people keep bringing up how lovely my sims are so I'm gonna share some quick things I do to make a sim fit my style. Basically it's all about overlays.
Tumblr media
Here's Rhea, she's one of my super skilled cc free sims.
Tumblr media
I start with choosing an overly. I only use full skins when I've made them for a sim specifically because you want to be able to layer other overlays. I mostly use stuff from Northern Siberia Winds right now.
Tumblr media
Next I pick out some eyelashes. I have various styles for different types of sims.
Tumblr media
Third I go for some skin texture, can be pores or most commonly freckling and moles.
Tumblr media
The last thing I do for young adults in skin details is usually add the mesmerized body blusher.
Tumblr media
Finally it's all topped off with capital co's peony blush. All my sims get this. It's my favorite blush/contour.
After this depending on their age I'll give them extras like wrinkles or other body overlays. Then I finish up with some custom hair and maybe a little makeup. Here's how Rhea will be going into my save.
Tumblr media
So really it's about the small details, nothing really that significant tbh. I do have sliders and stuff but you don't need them to make unique and beautiful sims.

i love ur expressions so much!!!!! Is it alr if I ask for u to share ur drawing process, if u don’t mind!! If you’d rather not that’s fine too :333
I can try!
now this does assume I have a consistent drawing process which I don’t, but ill share what I do most often?
So first of course I have an idea
Tumblr media
Then I do some sketchies to figure out what exactly I want the pose to be. I dont always do this except when the pose is tricky and/or im just not being lazy that day
Tumblr media
Then I go through my sketching and refining process:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I usually do two or three passes and I try and flip it at least once throughout, to help make sure everything’s balancing. For the final lines I’ll usually make them a medium red that I then set to multiply, but if I plan on coloring the lines later i dont do that and just make them black. This is also the stage when I’m scrabbling about for reference images, here are some of the ones I used here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I usually hunt down references after I do my initial rough sketch, so I already know what im looking for angle and shape-wise in the references. Now for coloring ill fill in the whole area I’m gonna color with a gray then start putting down flats on clipping mask layers (so they dont go outside the lines)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then for quick and dirty shading and highlights I’ll duplicate the flats, flatten them into one layer, then make them darker and bluer and generally futz with it untill ive got a good shadowed color profile down. I’ll repeat the process but making it all lighter for the highlights. Then ill take both those layers, make them masks, and start painting on the shadows and highlights over the original flats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
then the very final step is the Fussing Stage where I make a new layer or two over everything and start fixing mistakes, adding new colors, adding rim lights, messing with levels, color correcting, adding details like flowers, etc. etc.
this can take a very long time or no time at all, depending on how much effort I wanna put in.
Then I slap a background on it which is usually a solid color or a gradient because im a hack and have no idea what i’m doing and ta-daaaaaa, something kinda okay!
Tumblr media
And that is one of the many ways I “fake it ‘till you make it” my way through art!

Ratio looks like he'd fold after two genuine compliments and not just ones about his looks or intelligence. Bro would not be able to handle actual genuine words from someone because he's so damn used to hollow words from fans and haters alike (I don't care if this is ooc its true in my heart)
No no, I agree with you.
Tumblr media
People tend to take compliments too lightly, let whatever escape their mouths often carelessly. The act of giving compliments can be honed into an art with practice, the gesture of taking them gracefully can be considered as a mark of maturity and class. Simply put, you can tell a lot about a person based on how they give and receive compliments.
The academic field is privy to many kinds of drama. Back-handed compliments thrive in the radius around ‘geniuses’, ‘prodigies’ and the ‘talented’. Unless you hear it from certain people, delivered in very specific tones, you won't even know just how easily positive words can be twisted to feel like insults. Ratio is intimately familiar with this phenomenon.
It took some struggle, reflection, trial and error until he understood the sheer absurdity of the situation. By then, it was more funny than hurtful to him. Oh, the scope of idiocy. Ratio prefers words in communication to be direct and transparent, though he won't deny that nuance and implication have their own charm when used appropriately.
Ratio might not appear so due to his default disposition, but he's actually quite good at complimenting — given that he finds something genuinely admirable about the person. Take his party-joining voicelines about Ruan Mei and Herta for example. But because of the factor that needs to be met to be complimented by the man, his words of appreciation are often posed as statements (e.g. his voiceline about Screwllum). Which could make his compliments hard to believe if you happen to struggle with receiving them.
Now, the first thing that comes to my mind if we're looking for ‘that’ compliment which will be successful in flustering him ; is to try to learn and understand his ideology, values, ambitions and mindset by extension. Difficult task, I know, but studying Veritas Ratio is unavoidable if we're talking about him. Of course, Ratio enjoys studying everything around him even more, so to catch someone this perceptive off-guard is a bit of a challenge.
Well, it's not possible to understand a human in their entirety, so the effort is of greater importance. Observe, question (and don't be dismayed by his sharp comebacks), reflect, apply what you learned and always try to be genuine. There is no way Ratio won't notice honest efforts.
I don't know why but I have this nagging feeling that compliments about his appearance can also do the trick. Perhaps it's because they could've become somewhat scarce since he started using the alabaster head. But don't just randomly go, "You're so handsome! Your eyes are so pretty!" True as they may be, try to point something he hasn't considered or heard, challenge him. “I appreciate the way you maintain your hair. The neatness and your choice of accessory is pleasant to the eyes.” is something that I'd probably go for. This has greater chances of working if you've made a place in his head through the first suggestion, so to say.
And when, after all that hard work, you do succeed — Ratio is a sight to see. If there was some sort of microscope to gauge the transition of human emotions when they receive compliments, it'd paint such an entertaining picture. First is a scintilla of surprise, then you get a flicker of joy which ignites into flames of emotions too jumbled to decipher — Ratio's cheeks and ears will be guilty of letting them escape. If you don't seem to get any coherent response from the scholar even after an interval of patience, just know that Ratio.exe has stopped working.

do you have any advice on drawing slugcats/scavs? i love how you draw both... sincerely...
i'm rising from the dead just to answer this one even though i'm not much of an adviser or a tutorial guy x) my style is not consistent and i just flow with most of things
but here's some tutorial-ish things
Tumblr media
slugcats are just...blobs at this point in my style, i don't use many additional lines or smth for them
it's like this one "how to draw a rat" meme where there's only two steps: "draw any shape" "done"
scavengers are more complicated tho!
Tumblr media
they have actual anatomy and as stated - i'm still figuring it out x) but at least it's fun
here's some other scavs i drew for a little example - a random one and kinda an OC of mine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i hope this helps even if just a little bit, i really have no idea how to explain my drawing process or give drawing advice :")

Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking, but I love your art style so much, and the way you draw Ragatha!!!
Would it be okay if I asked you for advice on how to draw Ragatha's hair?
Tumblr media
Thank you!
It's perfectly fine to ask me for advice, but just so you know, I'm not the best at explaining my art processes tbh. I've never done an art tutorial or anything similar to that.
However, I tried making a small guide here on how to draw Ragatha's hair - well, how I draw it at least. It's sort of a rough sketch, but hopefully it'll be useful for you!
First off, I'd like to point out that when I began drawing her character, I used one of her official 2D artworks as reference to draw her hair, not her 3D model!
To be more specific, I used this one:
Tumblr media
Another important thing to take into consideration is THE VOLUME her hair has.
If you have curly hair and it's long enough, you might know that to make it have that sweet sweet volume, you gotta style it in LAYERS! The same applies to Ragatha here, which you can actually see in the image above! If you wanna make her hair look voluminous, you need to draw it in layers (Assuming you'll be drawing it similarly to how it looks in canon - like dreadlocks)
Anyways, now onto the process!
1st step - Bangs
Tumblr media
When drawing her hair, I will always start by drawing her bangs first. It helps me sort out where the other locks will be going for the most part.
I will always start by drawing the 4 locks that go on top of her forehead. The two in the middle will always be shorter than the ones on the sides, but that's just my preference.
Once that's done, I do the longer locks that go down along the sides of her face.
2nd step - Locks on top + bow
Tumblr media
Bow is not mandatory, but I must admit it does make my life easier when i'm drawing her, because then i'll always know where to put the two locks she's got on top of her head - that being right where the bow begins - behind it.
3rd step - Superficial layer!
Once you get the two higher locks and the bangs done, this step becomes way easier. You just gotta fill the gap between them.
Tumblr media
I'll normally draw 3 on each side, but of course that will depend on the thickness of the dreadlocks you're drawing. It's overall pretty simple.
I like making these 3 locks more droopy than the other 2 coming from behind the bow, but that's also just my own preference.
4th step - Secondary layer
Tumblr media
As you can see in the two examples in the center, the shorter locks on top will sort of flow in the same way as the 2 smaller bangs in her front. They go up, then down.
The longer ones that go behind her neck will just go straight down since they're longer and therefore heavier, just like the two long locks on each side of her face.
Clean up + fixing asymmetry
Tumblr media
In the top left example, some of the locks were asymmetrical, so I fixed that after cleaning up the sketch. Mistakes like these tend to be very noticeable once you clean things up, so try keeping each side as symmetrical as you can to one another, especially if you're drawing her front view.
Anyway, that's pretty much it for my process! I feel like I could've elaborated a bit more and made this more organized, but at the same time I kind of have no idea what to do lol sorry
Still, I hope this helps you out somehow!

Tiny trick I use when I draw "growly" expressions is starting the lines at the tear duct It doesnt always start there but when simplifying art that's the method I do!

hi! this is Insomniac Anon here!!! I noticed on some of ur artworks (specifically the unique magic posters), that u have a textured look to em, like paper or grain ... i wanted to ask how u get that effect? is it a brush, a filter, or like an overlay/png u use ... ? pls tell me!! ;v; I really like how the texture looks, so i wanted to know how 2 do it since ure a very big inspo 2 me LAWL ... I've been doing art practices in diff styles i find, so, i wanted to know a bit more how you do it :^D
thank you! :D :D :D it's usually photos/textures of paper that I've messed around with; I have a bunch of free/paid/ones I took myself. anytime I see good photos of paper I add it to the collection...it is my weakness. 😔
I mostly use Photoshop, but this should work in any program that supports blending modes (also I did this in like an hour to use as an example, please forgive it :')
Tumblr media
with the texture pasted in (for this one I'm using this public domain one from Pexels):
Tumblr media
then mess around with the blending mode to see how it looks -- in this case I went with overlay, but soft light and hard light are usually good ones too, it really depends on the texture:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then with a bunch of messing around with opacity/colors/saturation/levels/adding in a bit more texture until I like how it looks:
Tumblr media
et voilà, texture! (waves hands)

BREAKING DOWN MY ART
The artwork I'm breaking down.
(Added text descriptions to the images (I did my best) in case you don't understand my handwriting)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically my rendering process and art techniques for all of my artworks. There is more to it of course but this post was centered on this whole drawing specifically and had to keep each description brief or this would have gotten excessively long. Besides, I've improved since this drawing and I do some things a bit diferently than before.
I can make more of these kind of post in the future explaining how I get to figure out the shapes and colors of things, basically how I draw.
A time span
BONUS
Tumblr media
Don't take this last image as if now the artwork is completely wrong because of "bad proportions". This is a self critique, by the estandars I put to myself. Putting that aside, it's still a good artwork, I did a pretty good job on this one and I hope one day to find the same motivation to surpass it.

Heya, you are an absolute beautiful person and seeing the way you make colors and values pop always make my day.
I'd love to see the tips for the progress of rendering if you can.
Nevertheless, good luck with school and remember you are the coolest cat ever to exist.
<3
oh man this made my day now YOU are the coolest cat to ever exist
since my most recent drawing was done in greyscale and simply adjusted with gradient maps, i thought id base a ‘tutorial’ off my second most recent piece since it has more substance to it
sorry if this isnt the most helpful haha… feel free to modify and interpret the following ‘advice’ as you wish, i am not at ALL qualified to be teaching people shit about art i kinda just fuck around and hope it looks cool in the end
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
let me know if yall are interested in a greyscale/gradient map tutorial
oh and to the people wondering yes the lighting symbolism was intentional!!!

Sorry, I’m not that great at explaining things but I tried my best!

(Forgot to mention but those tufts of fur inside the ear I also make both round sometimes instead of round/sharp)
