according to the lost legends book, ford does know dipper’s real name. it’s *stan* that doesn’t know it, and ford calls him on it during a moment where they’re arguing over who does a better job looking after the twins
Gonna be honest here, even though I've read it I remember almost nothing...

ok i finished re-editing ITNL chapter 6 & posted it. also i finished chapter 5 yesterday & forgot to say anything lskdjfslkdjf
man. chapter 6 sure is something. lots of catharsis here.
#speculation nation#itnl shit#im now on page 60 of 190 for the overall doc. so. im making progress.#stilllll only about a third of the way thru in word count I Guess. but the latter stuff will hopefully not take me as long.#i was stuck on a bit of chapter 5 for a few days. which held me back. but im through that now.#and there were some wordings and such i wanted to change in chapter 6. minor things. but still things that were bothering me.#chapter 7... nothing major that i can think of. just gonna check for general wordings probably#chapter 8 there's smth that i know i want to fix. shouldnt be too hard to do.#chapter 9 has a sentence i struggled with and was not satisfied with so im probs gonna go back and try to improve that again#but HOPEFULLY it won't take me too long to do. chapter 9 is a pretty short chapter overall.#chapter 10 & onwards is around when i started taking More Time for chapters due to life things#which means they were less rushed AND THUS will hopefully have less things i want to fix with them#aka. they will not take as long to edit. Hopefully.#i know ITNL readers are wanting that chapter 15 already and Believe Me i want it to. but im committed to this full re-edit.#i needed to reread ITNL anyways to get back into the mindstate. and i sure am reading.#editing makes it so i take slower than a simple reread. i could read 75k words in a day Easily if it was just a matter of reading.#but i care about fixing up a bunch of the little issues that have been bothering me. and so im doing a total re-edit.#im making solid progress. best case scenario i could maybe finish in like a week. im gonna try.

everything I know about the iskall situation, starting at the beginning
putting this together for @cryptidwithaninternetconnection everybody feel free to reblog and repost this information)
Trigger warnings for sexual harassment, harassment, mental health issues, depression, implied suicidal thoughts
Please read all of the links! Everything underlined is linked to more information.
This post has and will be edited to add additional information
started with this tweet from Hermitcraft, it was the first thing we got about anything:
Tumblr media
Heres Doc's reaction at being asked about it
here's Mumbo and False:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's this from the Vault Hunters discord:
Tumblr media
Thats everything we got day 1
Day 2 was when the victim statements came out.

#2

#3 - I don't have screenshots because I don't have Twitter but here is the link
And then nothing happened for several months.
Then, yesterday Iskall put out a video.
Here is the transcript
Stress left this comment on the video
Tumblr media
Since the video, here are some responses from Impulse, Cub, Scar and Cleo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here is everything I've found that Wells had said (he's saying a lot so by the time I post this there might be more):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These could also be about Dream as Wells been very vocal about that situation as well.
(This is an edit. I was just sent this from Wels about the "short story"
Tumblr media
)
That is all of the stuff I've currently collected, I can reblog this with more stuff when I receive it.
please @ me with any mistakes I made here, but don't harrass me based on the stance ive taken. I will block freely.
My thoughts (my biased opinion) are under the cut
I think Iskall is in the wrong. He did shitty things and didn't apologize, instead victim-blamed his way through it. I'm also incredibly disappointed in Stress. I believed that she left due to feeling betrayed by her friend, but I guess she left because she supports him. That kinda really hurts.
But I also think that a lot of the other Hermits, especially Wels and Scar, went too far with their passive aggressive posts. This person was their friend so they should be treating this situation more seriously.
Obviously, them being childish with their replies instead of directly addressing the situation doesn't mean Iskall is in the right. He's a bad person that hasn't apologized for anything.
I know this is kind of a sign of a parasocial relationship, but I feel really betrayed by Iskall. I started watching Hermitcraft in s7 and loved his POV so much. Now i can't force myself to re-watch s7 or finish s6, just because I know he was a bad person all along.
Idk. I'm really tired. And frustrated. And hurt.

Vi x Fem!Reader
Synopsis: Helping Vi realize that she can break out of this loop that's she's in
Warning: Slightly Angsty and slightly out of character
A/n: Arcane season 2 just came out and i'm still reeling from everything, just had to make this cause i was inspired by episode 3 it broke my CaitVi heart
It was just one of those days,
There weren't many days where you would get the house all to yourself to enjoy so you didn't waste the chance to relax when your roommate said she was going out to run some errands.
You were currently enjoying your day re-reading through your favorite book series until you were disturbed by a sudden knock at the door.
You skeptical and slightly annoyed you went to go answer the door. Opening the door is when you came face to face with the pink-haired woman you came to know as Vi. She almost looked slightly surprised to see you at the door but kept her composure
"Is she here ? " Vi asked worriedly
"Hi nice to see you too, but unfortunately your girlfriend isn't here, she went out to do some stuff" you replied
She lightly sighs before saying, "Well if that's the case then I guess I'll wait for her till she gets back. That's fine with you, right ?" She says walking through the door before you can get a response out. You sigh closing the door behind you knowing she would stay and wait either way.
There was an awkward silence between the two of you guys so you took it upon yourself to try and get a conversation going.
"So....what brings you here ?..Is it the same issue again ?"
Vi glares at you but after some time does lightly nods her head to confirm your suspicions. You kept quiet lightly sighing to yourself.
The cycle had become almost predictable at this point: a fight would ignite, Caitlyn would storm off ghosting Vi, and then, a few days later, Vi would return, offering half-hearted apologies that seemed to smooth things over just enough to delay the inevitable crash. Caitlyn never seemed to learn, and neither did Vi. But the truth was, they both were just playing the same tired game, and you wanted all this nonsense to come to an end once and for all.
Here,” you said, slipping behind the counter to make a couple of drinks. “Let’s take the edge off. I’m sure you could use something stronger than water right now.”
Vi didn't argue. She sank down onto the couch, taking a deep breath, clearly exhausted from everything. As you handed her the glass, you kept your tone light, almost casual. "So, how's work? How’s your family? Anything to distract you from… well, everything?"
She gave a weak laugh, taking a sip of her drink. "Work’s fine. Same as usual. Nothing exciting," she muttered, looking down at her hands, clearly distracted. "Family’s... okay. You know how it is, always got something goin on"
You nodded, pretending to listen, but your mind was already working. "Yeah, I get that. But seriously, when’s the last time you actually did something for you, Vi? Like, something that made you feel alive? Not just for Cait, or for your job, but for yourself?"
That was a hook. Vi wasn’t even aware of it. She leaned forward, a little too eager to talk about herself, to talk about anything that didn’t involve the draining mess she was in. She starts going into detail about the many things she's been interested in but never got the chance to due to feeling like she's alway has to balance a thousand things in her life.
"Well if I'm gonna be real honest with you Violet, it sounds like this relationship is just another thing holding you back" you say with sincerity.
"It’s just... it’s not that simple, okay? Violet shot back.
me and her have history. We’ve been through a lot together. And—" she paused, trying to gather her thoughts. "Yeah, things have been tough lately. But we love each other. I know she has her issues, but I really think we can fix this. I don’t want to just... give up on everything we’ve built."
You almost rolled your eyes at the word history—as if that was supposed to make everything else okay.
"Vi," ."You’ve been ‘fixing’ things for months now. You keep telling yourself it’s just a phase, that Cait’s going to change, that things will get better. But they never do. You are stuck in a loop and you can’t keep pretending like nothing’s wrong."
"So, what? You want me to just leave her? After everything? You’re not even trying to help me,You’re supposed to be my friend. You should be supporting me in making this work, not... pushing me away from her!"Vi’s jaw clenched, her chest rising and falling with each breath as if she was holding back.
Her words stung just a little bit but you knew how to respond back. "I am doing this because i care enough to tell you the truth Vi, you deserve so much better than this. Don't let Caitlyn stress you out so much, especially when there's already a lot on your plate".
"You just don't get it. You don’t know what she's like when we’re together,” she says, still feeling obligated to defend her relationship.
"Maybe i don't and i might be wrong about all of this, but all I'm saying is that if you were my girlfriend id be the one coming to apologize and id try to find every possible way to make it up to you." You say leaning closer towards Vi
She sputters trying to find the words to defend herself, every single word unfortunately dying in her throat.
"I’d be the one begging you for another chance after acting like a dumbass. I'd spoil you and not let you do anything till you forgave me" You continued.
The silence that fell between you and Vi after your last words was thick with unspoken things. Vi feels as if her heart is beating out her chest as you continue to close the distance between the two of you guys.
"You do deserve better, Vi," you said, your voice soft but certain. "And when you’re ready, I’ll be here for you. Not just as your friend, but... more than that, if you want. You don’t need Cait to feel loved. I’m not going anywhere."
Vi looked at you, her eyes wide, and in that moment, it was like everything clicked for her
You wanted to kiss her. You wanted to show her that everything she needed wasn’t in Cait. That there was more for her. That she didn’t have to settle.
Just as you leaned forward, your lips barely inches from hers, the door to the room creaked open, and the sudden sound of keys jingling at the front door broke the fragile bubble that had formed between the two of you.
You two quickly back away from each other, moving to the opposite sides of the couch, averting eyes as Caitlyn walks into the room
A/n: Sorry for the cliffhanger and sorry to all the caitvi shippers, i love them too...i just can't pretend that i wouldn't want vi if they broke up fr.

Fic Snippet!
Some Ryan POV of the comedy of errors where he doesn't realize that Tommy's gay. Related to Misperception.
•
“How’d you meet your partner?” Ryan asks politely when he and Tommy are sitting around at Harbor.
Ryan’s just finished re-making fake flight plans for the umpteenth time under Tommy’s watchful eye, and he’d like to talk about something not work related. Now that they’re on a break of sorts Tommy keeps distractedly smiling at his phone. It’s not difficult to guess why. Apparently their anniversary is coming up and they’ve been planning a big trip.
“We met on a call, actually,” Tommy says, looking a little bashful.
“Ooh, a dramatic rescue?” Ryan knows this probably isn’t what happened, but he’s imagining Tommy carrying a beautiful, faceless woman out of a burning building.
“It’s not what you’re thinking,” Tommy says with a laugh, as if he’s read Ryan’s mind, “So, actually Ev-"
The alarms go off, and Tommy stops midsentence, shoving his phone into one of the pockets on his flight suit as he stands. Ryan wonders for a second what Tommy’s girlfriend’s name is. Evalyn? Eva? But then he has no time to wonder, because they’re prepping to take off.
•
“The 118 is in the news again,” Sylvia says later on, pointing in the direction of the TV. She sounds simultaneously bored and amused.
Ryan’s in the middle of watering his flowers in Animal Crossing and he glances up at the TV. The breaking news declares LAFD LEFT STRANDED DUE TO EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTION almost gleefully. Sylvia’s statement must have also caught Tommy’s attention, because he wanders closer and squints at the screen.
“–sources say ladder fully extended during a routine rescue of a cat in a tree–” Tommy says, slowly reading the closed captioning.
Sure enough, at that point the footage swings upwards to show two figures in the basket, the ladder stretched up into a cloudless sky. The camera zooms in shakily, before focusing on a pair of unamused men holding an even more unamused orange cat.
“Oh my god, it’s Eddie and Evan” Tommy starts to laugh, and pulls his phone out and snaps a picture of the TV screen.
“I’m gonna text Lucy and tell her to get her ass over here,” Sylvia says, before turning to Ryan and saying sotto voce, “They both used to work out of that station.”
“I can’t believe it was an actual tree rescue,” Ryan complains, “I never got to rescue any cats from trees.”
All of his pet rescue experiences have been fire related which tends to be… fraught, to say the least. Carrying a terrified and wriggling goldendoodle out of a burning building and almost getting bit for his trouble, for example. The news footage keeps cutting between the scowling firefighters and, thankfully in this case, a very unhappy but very unharmed orange tabby. A cute trio, Ryan will admit. The cat visibly hisses at the white guy holding it. In response the man proceeds to, by all appearances, start lecturing the cat while the other firefighter bursts into laughter.
“It looks like that’s for the best,” Sylvia says, putting her phone down, “When the universe throws you a stereotype, it throws you trouble as well.”
Lucy chooses that moment to arrive and she starts cackling. Tommy’s just standing in front of the TV now, watching as another ladder truck pulls up along side the malfunctioning one. Ryan gets distracted by his video game again. Lucy and Sylvia start talking about their off-shift plans, half paying attention. When Ryan glances up, Tommy’s eyes are still fixed on the screen intently. His arms are crossed. It reminds Ryan of how he looks in the air sometimes. The second ladder basket raises up, and comes to a stop next to the two men. It isn’t until they’ve stepped into it and are slowly lowered back down, that Tommy’s shoulders relax.
“I’m going to give them so much shit for this,” Tommy says, taking his phone back out, and beginning to type away.

YOU GRUNTED, almost throwing your phone away when you entered Nico’s apartment, which was basically your second house now.
There were tiny, somewhat insignificant things around his place that reported that you two were together, things like your hairbrush in his bathroom, your toothbrush beside his, your books and phone charger on his bedside table.
Or maybe the fact that he keeps buying the sweets he knows you like, or when he changed the brand of softener he used because you once briefly mentioned that it made your nose itch.
You won’t deny that you’re happy with the fact that he seems pleased to have you around, but you’re still not sure if you want to move in with him— your story already sounds crazy and fast paced enough.
Still, you enjoy spending your days off with him, especially when he’s also at home, which is tonight’s occasion. He’s sitting on the couch watching The Godfather when you enter the house, but you don’t even have time to properly greet him before Richard starts talking again.
“Technically, it wasn’t due until 5 p.m. today. So, no need to get your... keyboard in a knot.”
You scoff. “My keyboard in a— what?! Richard, I was waiting for your notes last night so I could approve it. I guess I didn’t factor in your busy schedule of... what was it? Two hours chatting up Emily from graphics?”
“Oh, come on,” he laughs, like he didn’t delay a week’s worth of work. “It wasn’t two hours. More like 45 minutes. And anyway, building relationships in the office is important, Emma. You should try it sometime.”
“Building relationships? Is that what we’re calling shameless flirting now?” you ask, voice filled with rage. “Good to know. Next time I don’t meet a deadline, I’ll just say I was networking over cocktails.”
“Listen, Emma—”
“No, you listen,” you say, finally tired after thirty minutes of arguing with your colleague. You place your bag on the coffee table, and almost lose your arguments when you find Nico’s puppy, almost scared eyes looking at you. “Jake, who’s a father of two adorable, sweet girls, had to stay at work way past his work hours, re-writing half of your article. Not to mention Melissa, who also had to stay late because your inspiration left her waiting for the graphics requests you didn’t submit.”
“Ain’t that awesome? That’s what I call a real team.”
“A real team?” You almost shout. Usually, as the editor-in-chief of one of the most important sports magazines in the US, you’d try to keep your cool and act professional. But you’ve been handling Richard’s bullshit for the past two months and now you’ve had enough. “I can’t do this anymore. I want you in my office on Monday so we can discuss your leaving.”
This time, Richard doesn’t have an immediate bratty remark for you.
“Was I clear?”
“M-Mrs Roberts, I—”
“My. Office. On Monday. At half past seven.”
“I’m sure we can figure this out and—”
You look at the clock sitting on Nico’s desk and smile, even though you know Richard can’t see. “Oh, would you look at that? It’s seven p.m. which means I’m not on my work hours anymore. So, we should probably just talk on Monday.” You use your best, fake happy voice. “Have a nice weekend, Richard.”
You don’t wait for his answer before hanging up on him and sighing loudly.
“Hi, baby,” you finally say, leaning down to give Nico a brief kiss. “I’m sorry for this.”
“I’m somewhere between proud and scared,” he smiles, getting up and wrapping his arms around your tired body, as you lean closer to his chest and rest your head on it. “Proud because you’re actually standing up for yourself, scared because I have never seen you talk like that.”
You shrug. “I mean, he did make Jake go home later than he’s supposed to, several times, and I’ve met his kids, I just… if it was just me, I wouldn’t be this upset but—”
“You don’t need to justify your actions, schatz. Not to me, not to anyone,” he smiles softly, and you just lean closer to his chest. He smells like home and violets. “And the guy is an asshole.”
You laugh, reluctantly pulling away from him.
“I guess you’re right,” you said. “I need a shower though. This ‘standing up for myself’ thing is tiring and nasty.”
“Better hurry, then,” Nico whispers against your mouth. “I ordered food from your favorite place.”
You moan loudly as you make your way to his bathroom. “Fuck, I’m going to have your kids.”
His laugh is loud enough for you to hear and you smile, closing the door behind you.
𖧷
YOU’RE ALMOST falling asleep on the couch when you feel it.
It’s light and sweet at first, barely noticeable. Nico had been resting his head on your belly, while you played with his hair and tried to keep up with the last episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
But you probably snoozed for a few seconds, and Nico saw that as the perfect opportunity for him to bury himself in the middle of your thighs.
“Baby,” you call him, and he hums back, barely paying attention to you. “What are you doing?”
“I miss you.” Was all he said, before going back to kissing your naked thighs.
You just chuckled, looking down at him, and feeling somewhat shy as he inhales your skin, probably smelling the hints of lavender your body wash left behind.
He keeps kissing you, taking his time. It’s barely anything, yet it has you throbbing under your panties, which makes you blush. It’s embarrassing how fast you melt under his touch.
He gets up, sitting on his heels, looking down at you with lustful eyes. “You’re stressed.”
“I am,” you smile.
“I want to eat you out.”
“You do?”
“I do, yeah,” he plays with the hem of your shirt, slowly moving his finger down, all the way to your black panties. “What do you think?”
“I think that’s the best idea you’ve had in a while,” you bite your lips, hiding your grin.
He doesn’t hide his, smiling widely as he quietly drags your underwear down, lifting your hips just enough to remove them from your body.
“You have such a pretty pussy, babe,” he muttered, spreading your legs, until your bare, smooth flesh mercies the open air. “I can never get enough.”
Before you can even start to feel shy about your nakedness, Nico dives in, licking a long stripe up your pussy, not paying attention to your most sensitive part, not just yet— it had you moaning anyway, though.
He attaches his warm mouth to your core, tongue messily gliding over your lips and entrance. His movements are precise and smooth, like he was born to do this.
The tip of his tongue finds your hole, dipping inside you slowly, then, he finally licks your clit, moving his wet muscle from side to side while you trash under his touch, holding onto the couch with both of your hands.
“You’re so wet, baby,” he says, voice hoarse and silvery. “Dripping, actually. And all of that for me.”
You’re about to answer when he dives into your core again, this time focusing on your clit only. He grabs both of your thighs and pulls you towards him, licking everywhere. The sound of him eating you out filling up the room, louder than the boring show you had on.
The room’s barely illuminated yet you can see him staring at you as he licks, eats and satisfies himself with your taste. He doesn’t even blink, trapped between your legs, sucking your most sensitive part.
“Ngh.”
He stops messing with your clit just to smirk and say: “C’mon, love. I know you can be louder than that.”
And then, he dives into you again, giving you all he can. And his all has you pulling his hair and moaning loudly, even with your left hand covering your mouth.
Your release builds fast, as it always does whenever Nico decides to do whatever he wants with you. The tension in your lower belly comes faster each time you both have sex, and even though you can’t explain why, you’re not bored by it, not at all.
“Nico, I’m gonna come,” you manage to say, rolling your eyes, only to close them afterwards. “F-Fuck.”
You’re rutting against his mouth, not caring that your sweet spot’s feeling overstimulated. It’s like a feral feeling, taking over your body and mind, and your only goal is to come.
You feel lucky, so fucking lucky, to have a man like him to make you see stars, and when you come inside his mouth, it’s without warning or coordination.
You’re seeing white and you’re gasping for breath as he continues to lick you, digging his short nails into your flesh so he can keep you in place— even though you can barely move, your limbs are too weak to do anything.
“N-Nico,” you whisper, gently pushing him away because you’re sure you’re about to disintegrate if he keeps going. And also because you know he’ll be there for hours with no end if you don’t push him away. “Shit.”
He smirks, and you’re sure he’ll never look this hot again. His hair is glued to his face, and his chin is shiny with your come, but so are his lips and the tip of his nose. But what really does it for you it’s the way his chocolate eyes are shining and looking at you like you’re everything.
You grab his shirt and pull him down, kissing his lips right away, tasting yourself on his tongue. It’s nasty and new, but you don’t care; you just want to feel him, be close to him.
“There’s no one else,” you tell him. “It’s just you, and it will always be just you.”
He smiles, his dimples stealing the spotlight because they make you want to live inside his cheek forever. “Hope that’s a promise, baby.”
“Oh, captain,” you hum. “It is.”
𖧷
YOU’RE SITTING on Nico’s lap when you see her.
She enters the bar with her chin up, holding her Gucci purse under her arms and softly clicking her fingers against the phone she’s holding.
She doesn’t immediately look your way, and even though you’re not sure if she knows you and your people— Mia, Ella, Luke, Jack and Nico— had chosen this specific bar to celebrate the Devils winning streak, you can’t help but feel aware of her presence.
Nico brings you back to the present moment, squeezing your waist lightly, just enough to make you look back at him.
“What does Em think of this?” you hear someone, Luke, maybe, ask, and you shrug, trying to hide the fact that you don’t know what they’re talking about.
“Keep my girlfriend out of your useless conversations, please.” Nico says, saving you once again. You give him a brief cheek kiss, taking care so you won’t smudge his cheek with your red lipstick.
“Please, you’re so pussy-whipped it’s sad to watch.” Jack says and Mia rolls her eyes at him.
“As he should.” she grins, winking at you.
“I only asked her if she thinks the last Fast & Furious movie is boring or not,” Luke argues. “I mean, Natalie almost killed me last time I mentioned it.”
“She hates those goddamn movies,” you laugh, remembering how angry she’d get whenever someone tried to make her believe that that whole franchise is good. “You should’ve known better.”
“I guess,” Luke pouts, toying with his beer bottle and Ella smiles at him. “I lowkey miss her, is that weird?”
“It’s not weird to miss your friends, Duke,” Mia fake punches him. “I miss her a lot, too. And Quinn.”
“We should visit them once the season’s over,” Ella suggests and you all agree, making plans for your next trip to Vancouver.
The conversation makes you forget about the fact that Nora is in the same place as you, and your insecurities are set aside so you can enjoy your evening with your friends.
You’re caught up with laughing and dancing with Mia and Luke when Nico reaches for you and tells you he’s going to the bathroom, and you just nod and give him a peck, before following Luke and doing the dumbest dance moves ever, making Mia laugh and curse at both of you.
You end up knocking over Luke’s bottle of glass all over you, and even though it’s hot inside the bar, you know you’ll have to dry your shirt before heading out again, otherwise it’s certain you’ll catch a cold.
“I’ll be right back, guys,” you tell Mia and Luke before looking around and trying to find the bathroom sign. Once you do, it’s a sixteen step walk until you’re standing in front of the door that leads to the bathroom hallway, only to find Nico standing there with—
Nora.
They don’t see you, and Nora’s the first to speak again. “It’s just that… you kind of just vanished after that night at my house, and you did unfollow me on Instagram. Did I do something wrong?”
“Well, Nora, you see: you did do something wrong. You kissed me even though you knew I had a girlfriend. That’s not really cool.”
You can tell by his tone that he’s upset, and the Angel sitting on your right shoulder is telling you that you should trust your boyfriend and leave the two of them alone but the Devil speaks louder and you stay right where you are.
“But…” she’s pouting and you feel the urge to punch her. “I didn’t know you and Emma were serious. If I had known, I’d—”
“You’d what?” he scoffs. “You’re still here, even after knowing that Em and I are serious, and have been for a long time now. You followed me all the way to the bathroom just to ask if I was upset with you for kissing me even though you knew I was dating.”
“Nico, you’re being too serious. Emma doesn’t need to know what we did—”
“She already does,” he crosses his arms in front of chest and leans against the bathroom door. “And even if she didn’t, I know, Nora. If you can sleep at night knowing you kissed a compromised person, that sounds like a you problem. I love my girlfriend and I’d really appreciate it if you didn’t bother me anymore.”
Nora’s silent for a few seconds before she remembers Nico’s probably expecting an answer.
“I’m not saying you don’t love her, I’m just saying that I understand if you can’t talk to me because of he—”
“It’s not that I can’t, Nora, I don’t want to,” he scoffs again. “Emma is my girlfriend for a fucking reason. I love her.”
Nora’s face is red, and her hands are shaking slightly. She nods before running out of the hallway like her ass’s on fire, only stopping when she almost runs into you.
You don't do anything besides winking at her, watching as her face becomes even redder and angrier. It’s funny how she stomps her way through the bar and leaves without a single word to anyone else.
When you look back to the hallway, you find Nico staring at you, a beautiful smile decorating his lips.
“Looks like you got yourself wet, baby.” He says, pointing to your shirt.
You smile, following him to the bathroom. “Hell yes I did. But it’s about to get worse.”

A Partial Re-Translation Patch for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA)
Kingdom Hearts is a tricky series, where the details really matter. As such, it’s a shame that some interesting elements of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories did not make it into the official English release (and, from what I know, none of the other language versions). So here we are!
So What’s Changed?
Tumblr media
The most important changes in this patch are, as you might’ve guessed from the title, pronoun related.
There is a section of the game, from the beginning of Twilight Town to a certain point in Destiny Islands, where Sora (and the NPCs in Destiny Islands) inexplicably change what pronouns are used to refer to NaminĂŠ. The official English release does not convey this element at all despite how much emphasis the game puts on this aspect, and thus loses any potentially significant implications of it.
As there’s no perfect English equivalent for あいつ aitsu, (a very informal/rough pronoun that is technically gender-neutral but leans toward masculine connotations, and is a strange way for Sora to refer to Naminé or Kairi), there are two versions of the patch.
“they” version. This is the one I recommend , as I believe it best conveys the intended experience; where there is a noticeably strange shift in language, but in such as way as to be fairly easy to write off as unimportant to the casual player.
“he” version. This one tosses all subtlety and ambiguity out the window and feels less natural, but conveys the masculine possibilities of the original that the other version can’t. Pick it if you’re feeling very daring.
Then, in the final stretch of the game, jp NaminĂŠ uses gender neutral terms in a way that seems potentially relevant, due to the pronouns situation stated in the previous section, and she is talking about two distinct people in her final conversation w/Sora, not just one. Both elements were lost in the official release.
Other Changes
Tweaked some word choice/phrasing for dialogue to more clearly convey repeated motifs (if you’re familiar with the jp terms used, 大切な / に taisetsuna/ni is generally denoted with “precious,” and 大切な人 taisetsuna hito with “dear”) as well as references to other parts of the game (primarily between Hollow Bastion and the floor 6+7 interludes)
They don’t call Sora the Keyblade master anymore, as this was sort of an impossible to predict localization misstep with the original release. (How were they supposed to know that jp script would start using the English phrase "Keyblade Master" as a distinct concept like 10 years later?) I did this just for fun.
This project was primarily built upon the contents of the essay “‘That Person’ How a Pronoun Revealed the Heart of a Story”, and would not exist without it. Read it after you finish the game (or before, if you want), it’s fantastic work.
Special thanks to this gba khcom quote generator and this transcript (both of which saved me SO much time and effort) as well as all my friends, whose excitement and input were invaluable.
Don’t want to actually play the game? Once I’ve settled on a final version, I’ll be putting up a cutscene compilation (for both versions) on youtube.

“𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐀 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊!” — feat. kaveh & reader !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis. kaveh is not having a great week. luckily, he has a best friend to distract him.
✦ contents. platonic! they are friends! best friends! modern au (they're still in university though.) some sumeru character cameos. gn!reader. fluff. 3.1k words.
✦ notes. this is my secret santa gift for.... @tragedy-of-commons! merry christmas gwen, i hope you enjoy!!! i did my best to make this as silly and fun as possible :"))
Tumblr media
“Wow... you look even worse than I left you.”
Kaveh groaned, squeezing his eyes shut. The desk was cold under his forehead, a sweet relief from the headache pounding behind his eyes. Maybe he could lay there a little while longer, languishing in his misery, and you would lose interest and leave him. Maybe...
“Hey! Don't fall asleep on me!”
Alas, such mercy would never find him. If your voice—far too loud for a library, he would say—wasn't already enough to disturb his brooding, then the rolled up paper in your hands definitely did the job.
“Ouch,” He mumbled, rubbing the back of his head. “Leave me 'lone...”
“Nope, not a chance.” You slip into the seat directly across him, your chin resting on the palm of your hand. “So, how much progress has been made?”
“I'm at about—” Kaveh sat up wearily, sifting through his scattered papers. “—21%.”
“Weren't you at 30% an hour ago?” You blinked.
“Yes.”
“Oh, Kaveh—”
“I'm fine, I just need... some time.” Kaveh gritted out, scanning the dozens of failed designs and hastily written notes. “And... and some inspiration. And maybe some coffee too.”
“And some sleep?”
“Are you kidding?” He scoffed, as he gathered the papers into a neat pile. “I can't sleep now. I need to get this project done, or else I'm failing this class. I can't afford a fail right now, this is making up 50% of my grade, and I only scored an 85 on the written exam, and my draft is due in a week and—”
A smack in the middle of his forehead snapped him out of his rambling. Kaveh reeled back, nursing the faint sting, as you re-rolled the paper in your hand.
“What was that for!” He cried.
“You can't keep wallowing, you're never going to get anything done! It's about time you took a break.” Carefully, you unroll the paper you were holding, to reveal a colourful poster. “And I know exactly what we can do!”
Kaveh squints at the flyer. It looked to be hand-drawn and photocopied, depicting a bustling market with smiling visitors holding mouth-watering food and bags stuffed with souvenirs. Across the top, the text read: Come visit Sumeru's Fair!
“A fair...” Kaveh murmured, reading the fine text. “This says it's only open the last week of December.”
You paused, shooting him a suspicious look. “Kaveh, do you know what day it is?”
“Uh... December... something?” He guessed.
“Well—Well, yeah.” You huffed, snatching the poster back to wave in his face. “The point is, you need some time to clear your head, and I don't want to go alone. So...?”
-----
By some miracle, your persuasion (and Kaveh's weak will towards anything you try to convince him to do) is effective enough to leave his project behind. The gates are swarming with people when you arrive, a few familiar faces sticking through the crowd, along with dozens of families and couples enjoying the festivities.
“Two tickets, please!” You grinned, handing over some money to the salesperson before Kaveh could even offer to pay for his own. The tired-looking employee hands over the tickets, and you grab Kaveh's hand to drag him towards the entrance. “Thank you!”
As soon as you step through, there is a rainbow of colours filling his vision. Brightly coloured stalls are set up with carnival games, food, and other attractions on either side, forming an aisle. Behind them, he could see a Ferris Wheel peeking out over the tents, as well as some other rides he couldn't quite make out.
“What should we do first?” You asked excitedly, scanning your surroundings.
“Wasn't this your idea?” Kaveh raised an eyebrow. “Shouldn't I be asking you that?”
“Ever heard of living in the moment?” You chided, looping your arm through his to lead him forward. “Do you have money?”
Kaveh rolled his eyes, allowing himself to be pulled along. “Do you think I—”
“No, you're broke, I don't know why I asked. Okay, I have some money. Enough for a few rides and some food, at least.” You paused to take a breath, glancing over to a stall on your left. “Woah, look at that!”
Kaveh followed your gaze, to a small stand set up with a simple throwing game. There were a few old cans stacked up, and a grinning attendant looking back at the two of them with a beanbag in his hand. That wasn't what caught your attention though. No, your eyes were firmly fixed on the stuffed animal hanging at the back of the stall, dangling just out of reach like Tantalus' fruit.
“It's a peacock!” You gasped, hand reaching out as if to try and touch the plush feathers sewn into its tail. For a carnival prize, it was remarkably well-made, and utterly adorable; there was no wonder you looked entranced by it.
“Something you like?” The attendant crooned. He tossed the beanbag from hand to hand, casually throwing it in the air and catching it again. “You get three tries, knock all six cans over and pick whatever prize you want.”
Kaveh squinted at the cans. It looked easy, deceptively easy. The beanbag was soft, but appeared to be sturdy enough to knock the cans down in one go, and yet none of the prizes had been won yet. The entire game seemed fishy, but the prospect of the peacock plushie in your hands was enough to distract you. Before he could even voice his skepticism, you had bought three tries.
“Here you go,” The man behind the booth tossed you three beanbags and stepped out of the way as you lined up your throw. The first hit one of the cans squarely in the middle, but bounced right off.
“Argh!” You gritted your teeth and aimed again, as Kaveh's frown deepened.
The second throw was heavier, and hit one of the middle cans, dislodging the structure but failing to knock it down.
“Last go! Good luck.” The man laughed brightly, and you scowled. You threw the beanbag one last time, knocking the can at the very top over with the sheer force of your throw. “Nicely done! Let me get your prize.”
Your eyes lit up in anticipation, before he handed you a dusty pack of cards, the flimsy kind you would find in a discount store. “Oh... is that it?”
“Try knocking them all over, if you want something better.” He chuckled. “Unless you wanted to try again...?”
You thought about it for a moment, considering the obvious baiting versus how badly you wanted that prize. You nodded, and Kaveh sighed.
This time though, he paid attention.
The way that the cans moved when you hit them was odd. Hitting either in the center row, or the middle one in the bottom row didn't shake it enough to move much at all, but the top can knocked over easily. If he had to guess, they were weighted differently to make the structure more stable, and much harder to topple. The closest you got to tipping over any of them was when one of your beanbags hit the one on the far left, moving it slightly out of place.
Interesting.
“Ugh, this is impossible,” You groaned, after wasting another three tries.
“You're getting better each time!” The attendant said, while he fixed the can that was askew.
“Let me try.” Kaveh cut in. He handed over some of the little money he'd brought with him, and took the offered bean bags.
“Good luck,” You told him ruefully. Kaveh took a deep breath, steeling himself. His aim wasn't terrible, but with the game being as obviously rigged as it was, he wasn't certain he'd be able to hit it.
The first throw, he hit the corner can directly in the middle, just hard enough to push it backwards slightly. It didn't topple the structure, but after zeroing in on the weakest link, knocking it down would be easy.
The second throw was slightly short, only hitting the side of the can. It moved it, causing the stack to wobble, but did little to actually achieve his goal of making it fall over.
Finally, he lined up his last throw. This was it, his last chance. With all his force, he hurled the beanbag at the tower of cans, hitting the corner squarely and pushing it right over. Without the bottom to support it, the second and third layer fell down, knocking over the other cans as well.
“You did it!” You cheered, squeezing Kaveh in a quick hug.
“Congratulations!” The man said, fishing behind the counter for something. “Here you go.”
In his hands was an ugly stuffed bear, with fluorescent pink fur and beady black eyes. He held it out like it was a diamond ring, grinning at Kaveh with finality.
“Oh... but didn't you say if I knocked down six cans I could choose whatever one I wanted?” Kaveh asked, wondering if he misheard the man. He nodded towards the plush you were eyeing. “I actually wanted the peacock over there.”
“Well, see, you have to knock them down in one try if you want the big prize.” The attendant scoffed. “Or else it doesn't count.”
“You didn't say that!” You protested. “You only said knock three cans down.”
“And I did knock them down in one try,” Kaveh argued. “On my last try, they all fell down at once.”
“It has to be your first one, boy.”
“You didn't say that either!” You threw your hands up in frustration, voice reaching a shout.
“Fine.” Kaveh snatched the ugly looking bear, and shoved it at you. He dug around for his wallet, slapping the last of his money on the counter.
“You already won a bear, don't you want to let someone else have a turn?” The attendant protested. Sure enough, there was a small line of people waiting for their turn. Still, Kaveh shook his head.
“One more turn, and I leave.”
The man, perhaps hoping to make him leave quicker, or perhaps just interested in more of his money, handed him some more beanbags with a grumble. He turned around to set up the cans again, arranging them into another pyramid.
Kaveh watched him carefully, noting the way he paused before placing down each can, clearly feeling the weight of each. He noted the way the man was sure to place the slightly lighter can on the other corner, probably hoping that Kaveh would aim for the same one and fail to knock it over.
“Hit it as hard as you can,” You whispered to him, once he was done. “Picture it as something you hate, and hit it with everything you've got.”
Kaveh squinted at the cans. Something he hated...
Nothing immediately came to mind. Perhaps his roommate, who had a personality as enjoyable as a rainy, downcast day. Maybe that engineering professor who marked him down for a tiny spelling mistake. Or even the attendant glowering back at him as he waited for his throw.
Of course, he could always picture that project he was working on, the one that cost him far too many days and nights and still remained unfinished. As he stared at the rusty metal, all he could see was the crossed out sketches and scribbled notes, all a mess that he couldn't decipher. They taunted him; a monument to his failures and shortcomings, a reminder of the progress that he has yet to make—
Without thinking, he reeled back his arm and hurled the beanbag as hard as he could, slamming it into the can. The entire tower toppled over, cans falling from the table onto the floor.
“Yeah! That's my best friend!” You yelled, pumping your fist in the air.
Kaveh tried not to look smug, but a wide grin was already spreading across his face. “The peacock, please.”
The stuffed animal was reluctantly taken down and handed over to him, before he passed it to you.
“There. Consider it my thanks for the ticket,” Kaveh said proudly.
“Thank you,” You smiled down at the peacock, running your hand through the soft tail feathers. “I love it.”
-----
After a few more games with far less luck, the pair of you stopped by the food stalls to get something to eat. There was a wide variety, with some fried foods, some sweet snacks, even a stand selling freshly squeezed lemonade.
You settled on a stall selling pita pockets, and Kaveh had no objections. The smell alone was enough to convince him to line up.
“Oh! Hi [Name], hi Kaveh!” A familiar voice chirped. Collei was stood at the counter, smiling widely.
“Collei, I didn't expect to see you here!” Kaveh greeted her warmly.
“It's my after-school job!” She explained. “I'm trying to earn some extra money for my treatment. I can't be dependent on Tighnari for everything, you know!”
Kaveh's smile faltered for just a moment. Collei's declining health wasn't a secret; there was a reason that her brother had to take care of her so much, but she was still so selfless, even with all of her struggles.
“Ah, I should have asked!” Collei jumped suddenly, scrambling to grab her notepad. “What can I get you today?”
“Just two pita pockets please,” You ordered. “And a water, too.”
“Coming right up!”
After getting your food, the two of you sat down to eat in a shady spot by the fence. The pita pockets were warm and fresh, the perfect thing to quell Kaveh's hunger. When was the last time he had a cooked meal, or any food that wasn't straight out of a vending machine? The focus on his project had stolen away all his attention, leaving him to neglect his own appetite.
“What's next?” You asked through a mouthful of bread, your words slightly muffled.
Kaveh hummed, surveying the rest of the fair. You had walked through most of the surroundings, leaving only a small section unexplored. That portion happened to be the part with all of the rides, where the Ferris Wheel loomed over the food stalls.
“How about the Ferris Wheel?” Kaveh suggested.
Your eyes lit up again, and you jumped to your feet. “Yes! Let's go!”
-----
In hindsight, you should have expected the line, but neither of you even considered the possibility until you were stuck in the middle of it. It was cramped and uncomfortable; the overwhelming crowds were almost enough to deter you. Almost.
“This is taking forever.” You groaned, slumping against Kaveh.
“Have a little patience.” Kaveh sighed, even as his own patience was wearing thin.
Directly in front was an irritated boy with a bowlcut who Kaveh was certain was in one of his classes, accompanied by a young white-haired girl holding his sleeve. Ahead of them, there was a family of four, several couples, another group of friends, and many more waiting for their turn.
It was going to be a long time before they even saw the ticket booth, let alone made it on the Ferris Wheel.
“Oh my, [Name]! Is that you?” A sweet voice called out to you.
You turned to see Nilou, a cheerful girl and another student at your university, waving to catch your attention as she walked over.
“Oh, hi!” You greeted. “How are you?”
“I'm good! I came with Dehya instead, and it's been a wonderful day.” She smiled back, smoothing down the front of her dress.
“That's good. We're just—” You jerked your head to motion towards the line. “—Waiting, as you can tell.”
“Ah, I see. Well, I'm glad you ended up coming, even if you didn't come with me. Isn't it wonderful?” Nilou gushed.
You nodded, with a slightly strained smile. Kaveh noticed the change instantly, studying your expression with a frown. “Yeah, it is.”
“I'd better go, Dehya is waiting for me. Take care, [Name]!” Nilou gave you a brief side-hug, before waving goodbye and dashing off.
“I didn't know you were friends with Nilou.” Kaveh said as soon as she left.
“Yeah, she's a classmate.” You said simply, leaving it at that.
After some time, you managed to make it into the compartment and on the Ferris Wheel. Kaveh sat across from you, pulling his legs close so you had more room to get comfortable, and your peacock plushie rested on your lap. The entire box was filled with windows, giving you a full view of the fair as it rose into the air.
“Woah... you can see everything up here.” As the box began to dip back down, your head swiveled to see as much of the area as possible.
“It's amazing... everything looks so small.” Kaveh breathed, as you hummed in agreement.
The two of you lapsed into a comfortable silence, simply basking in each other's company as you observed the landscape below. There wasn't a need for awkward small talk or idle conversation to fill the space between you; you were happy to just exist with each other for a moment.
“There's one thing I don't get.” Kaveh said suddenly. You looked away from the window with a curious expression, silently waiting for him to elaborate. “You said you didn't have anyone to go here with, but Nilou implied she already asked you and you turned her down. Why is that?”
“Oh. Yeah. I lied.” You shrugged, turning back to watch the Ferris Wheel move upwards.
“Why would you lie?” Kaveh spluttered at your nonchalant response.
You made a noncommittal noise, shrugging again. “Nilou could find someone else to go with. I wanted to go with you.”
He stumbled over his words, trying to get out a coherent response. “But—But why?”
“Do I need a reason?” You laughed, bright and clear. “You're my best friend. And besides, you needed a break. I haven't seen you this relaxed in a week.”
Kaveh fell silent. You had a point, he hadn't felt as relaxed in a while. In fact, he had barely given all of his stresses a thought, since you dragged him to the fair.
You always had that way with him, able to pull him out of his own head and get him back on his feet. Ever since you became friends, you were the ray of sunshine peeking through the clouds and bringing light to even his most dull days.
Maybe that was the foundation of your relationship, all the times you had seen each other at rock bottom, and still stuck around to bring the other back to the surface for air. He'd been witness to many of your own late-night breakdowns over failed assignments and miserable group projects, but he would never dream of leaving you to deal with it on your own.
It was you and him, against the world. As close as two friends could be, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
“What would I do without you?” Kaveh sighed, with a smile on his face. You looked back and grinned at him, the sunlight on your face making it look like you were glowing.
“No idea. But you're stuck with me now.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Richie signed as the bell above the door rang, it had been a night filled with drunk men and their hookers all night long.
As he walked out to the front he froze at the sight of a girl, giggling to herself as she scrolled through her phone before walking up to the counter. “Hi mikey, wait you’re not mikey?” She slurred as she looked at richie.
“Nope, he’s out for the night, what can i get you though sweetheart?” The girl looked up at the menu and pouted her lips.
Richie smiled as he noticed her smudged lipstick and gloss.
“I’ll have, um..” She froze as her gaze felt unfocused as she tried to read the board. “I’ll get whatever, you choose for me!” She grinned at the forty year old.
Richie signed and nodded to himself. “Got it, just uh go sit before i come back to find you passed out on the floor.”
The girl saluted before stumbling to a barstool and patiently waited for her food.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
The smell of bell peppers made the girl lift her head from the sticky table, she smiled at richie as he placed her food in front of her, it was a cheesesteak.
”It smells soo good!” She squealed, clapping her hands and dancing in her seat a bit. Richie scoffed, amused at the girl.
“Wanna join me?” Her question caught richie off guard, he glances down at the girl as she held up half of the sandwich towards him.
“I couldn’t, i gotta handle the front.” Richie declined.
The girl gave richie a look before looking around the empty restaurant, “yeah ok, since it’s suuupper busy..” She giggled, earning a playful eye roll from richie who sighed before sitting down next to you.
As they pair sat in silence, richie sighed as his phone lit up with a text from tiff saying she was keeping eva for his weekend due to ballet practice. “So what’s your name?” the girl questioned, taking a bite of her sandwich before looking up at richie who picked at the small side of fries.
“Richie..” He smiled as the girl nodded at his name. “How is it spelt? Like ritchie valens or richie rich?” She questioned, swapping richie for the fries.
Richie chuckled before taking a bite, “richie rich, i guess?” He shrugged and watched as you quietly hummed to yourself as you ate. “How ‘bout you?”
She tiled her head to the side. “How about me, what?” she questioned.
As richie re-asked the question her eyes started to droop.
“Y’know you have pretty eyes..” The girl tiredly pointed her manicured nails towards richie, she slowly slid the sandwich towards richie and fell asleep, her forehead on the cold, but sticky tabletop.
Richie chuckled softly and started to clean up around you.
After bit he had noticed your phone started to ring, he sighed as there was no sign of you waking up to answer.
Picking up the phone, he was greeted to questions. “WHERE ARE YOU!” a voice yelled.
Richie pulled the phone away from his ear. “Yeah, uh your friend fell asleep here at the beef and if there’s a way for you to come pick her up-!” RIchie was cut off by a frustrated groan.
“Fuck, daddy’s gonna lose it if he find out she’s not with us!” The voice sighed before asking for the street name.
A few minutes had passed and a white car had pulled up outside of the diner, he was in the back for the most of them carrying their friend to the car but by the time he walked back to the front, he noticed as the car doors slammed shut before taking off.
He sighed as he looked around the restaurant and froze at the sight of a pink prada bag on the countertop, hidden by a mountain of napkins. “Shit..” He cursed as he picked up the bag and looked for an piece of identification.
He quietly hummed to himself as he pulled out a gucci wallet, “who’s sugar baby got lost?” he questioned to himself as he flipped it open to find tons of cards and cash, a purse snatcher would be in heaven by the amount left carelessly in your bag.
As richie went to give up in his search, he froze at the sight of a pair of sunglasses in a satin bag with your initials embroidered.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You sighed as you walked into the beef, it had been your sister’s bachelorette the night before, somehow you had slipped away from the group and into your favorite diner.
“Hi mikey..” You greeted the shaggy haired owner, who watched you walk in, clearly enjoying you fighting a hangover.
“You look like shit.” He grinned at you.
“I feel like it..hey did i happen to leave-” before you could finish your words, mikey held up your bag with a smirk. “Oh this?” He teased.
“Don’t be a dick, give it..” You held your hand out for it, he sighed and handed it over to you. “Could i also get something to go please?” You smiled at mikey.
“I don't know, you did tell my employee he had pretty eyes last night..” HIs words made you widen your eye at him, slowly shaking your head. “No i didn’t…did I?” You questioned yourself quietly.
As you sat down questioning yourself, mikey had placed your typical order and walked to the office.
A basket of fries made you brake away from your thoughts. You glanced up at the employee and immediately got flustered, it was the guy from the previous night.
“Um, hi?” You offered a small smile, earning a chuckle from him. “Hi, here’s your order to-go.” He handed you the bag. You shifted your eyes from the to-go box to his blue eyes.
“You’re richie, right?” You questioned, trying to rack your brain for his name. “Uh, yeah.” He scratched his scruff. “I’m sorry if i made you uncomfortable with my comments..” You apologized, fiddling with your bag.
“With comments like that, i’d hope to see you in here more often now!” He smiled at you.
You grabbed the to-go box and nodded and let out a chuckle. “Will do, richie!” You smiled and waved as you exited the shop.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
As the weeks went on, you and richie had grown close, you had often stopped by the beef to greet him and the others, you often hung out around the shop till closing with richie and spent hours talking ot one another, it had gotten to the point where you gave him your number to spent more hours of the day talking.
You smiled as you sat at the counter of the beef and watched as richie cleaned the tabletops.
“No shot, your favorite artist is taylor swift!” You smiled as he sighed and continued to wipe down the counters. “I have a mini swiftie, after a while t-swift grows on you.” He smiled.
You laughed, “favorite song then?” you asked as you sipped from your cup. “Probably, cardigan..” He paused and took a second to think about his answer before he glanced at you and placed the cloth over his shoulder.
“Yours?”
You pouted out your lip, thinking over all her songs, “love story.” You smiled as richie smile grew.
“What? I like the classics..” You both chuckled, richie focused on getting a sticky spot on the counter, not noticing you grabbing his phone which was connected to the shop’s music.
“You’ll be prince, and i’ll be the princess!” You sang out loud, your arm extended towards richie who turned his head to watch.
He laughed, amused by your little show, thankfully he had set out the close sign early so no customers would try to ruin the moment.
“It’s a love story, baby just say yes!” He continued while laughing to himself, silently admiring your bright smile.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“Eva!”
“Lovie!” The little blonde squealed as richie unbuckled her from her carseat.
“What are you doing here?” She questioned as you walked up to her, a small bouquet of tulips in your hand. “I’m here to watch a very talented ballerina.” You grinned.
You knelt down to her height and handed her the flowers. She squealed and held them to her chest.
“What do you say to lovie, eva?” Richie questioned, watching your interaction with a grin on his face.
“Thank you!” She gave you a small side hug before walking to the doors to the theater, her ballet bag being carried by richie.
“Is tiff and frank here already?” You questioned as you noticed all the moms, fixing their children’s hair.
“Tiff hasn’t said, i’ll go give her a call, could you-!”
“I’ll go watch eva.” You cut richie off, giving him a reassuring smile, taking eva’s bag from him.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Eva had gotten antsy, as more kids would pass her, hair done and ready to perform.
Tiff had told richie her and frank had gotten a flat tire and wouldn't be able to make it to her recital.
Richie sighed as he brushed eva’s hair into a lumpy bun. “It has to be smooth!” Eva sighed, frustrated.
You quickly placed down your bag and eva’s bag next to richie and motioned for the brush and hair tie.
“I can do your hair, since somebody..can’t..” You told eva, side glancing towards richie was sat beside you both on a chair, looking defeated. Eva giggled.
You managed to get her hair into a neat bun, eva sighed as she noticed her tiny baby hairs sticking up in the front of her forehead.
“Wipsy’s again!” She whispered, annoyed with her hair.
“I have those too, here richie could you hand me my purse?” You turned to your boyfriend who jumped and quickly handed you the bag.
You smiled to yourself as eva held your purse in her lap, watching as you dug through your bag before pulling out a tube of hair slick gel. “Always prepared, huh?” Richie smiled as you gently held eva’s chin and slicked the hair’s down.
“Want a little chapstick?” You questioned the little blonde who nodded and pouted her lips, you quickly grabbed your small tin of chapstick and added a bit to her lips, you quickly handed her the tin, she quickly placed it in the bag and turned to the side to look at herself.
“So cute!” You smiled as you watched her smile and bat her eyelashes at herself in the mirror.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You sighed as you tried to closed the mansion quietly, as the weeks past, you and richie had gone hours on the phone with each other, spending most weekdays with one another, doing basic tasks.
As you quietly tip toped to the stairs to finally got to bed a light turned on from the living room, making you freeze at the sight.
“Tsk, tsk, sneaking out like a teen again?” Your father’s gruff voice spoke up.
You sighed and placed your purse on the stairs before walking over to your father, where he sat in his chair, shuffling a deck of player cards he kept on the coffee table.
“No, i was just trying to not disturb anyone’s sleep with the door slamming.” You sat down across from hi, on the coffee table.
“You’ve been out very late, this past few months, is there something i should know about?” He raised an eyebrow at you.
“And now that i’m looking at you, whose jacket is that?” He questioned, the look of distaste clear on his face
Your breath hitched, as you went to open your mouth, a light turned on in the front hall, making you and your father turn to the source.
There stood, your mom, she had a tired look on her face. “Will you too go to bed?” She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
“In a moment, answer me young lady..” Your father pressed.
“NOW!” Your mom hissed at your father, who sighed and got up from his chair and placed the cards beside you.
“This talk isn’t over yet.” You nodded as he wished you goodnight before walking up the stairs.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
The next morning you sighed as you drove your sister to pick up her veil from the bridal store.
“What’s got you so down?” She frowned.
“Nothing..” You brushed her off, huffing as you waited for the light to turn green. “I know you better then that, what’s the matter?” She pressed, turning to face you.
“Nothing’s the matter..” You tried to brush the topic off.
“Does it have to do with dad last night?” Your sister, questioned, making you turn to her.
“Did everyone hear our conversation last night?” You groaned, continuing to the bridal shop.
“So who’s the lucky person?” Your sister grinned as you shook your head, a small smile growing on your face.
“Do you remember when I wandered away from you guys during your bachelorette party?” You asked, occasionally glancing over to your sister.
“Yeah, we were laughing cause you were knocked out by the time we got there.” She giggled at the memory.
“Well, I guess i had drunkenly started to flirt with one of the night workers and i may have been constantly went back and possibly at one point he became my boyfriend.” You sighed, your sister sat in the passenger seat with a grin.
“What’s his name?” She teased.
“Richie, richie jerimovich.” You said with a smile at the thought of your boyfriend.
“Older dude?” She questioned, picking at her nails, her smile still obvious.
“He’s in his 40s, so a bit older then me..” You confessed.
“Well, after we pick up my wedding errand, how about I go and meet this richie guy?” She proposed.
“Sure, he starts at 2 and by the time I find room in the trunk for your things and we drive over, he should be working.”
Your sister squealed, excited for you.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You glanced at your sister who nodded to herself as she took in the area, you quickly parked the car on the street and got out.
“You’re just gonna leave the car parked here?” Your sister questioned, noticing a group of men not too far from the shop, looking at you both.
“It’s fine.” You brushed her off and looked back at the group and walked closer to the curb. “Crooked john, will you watch my car for me please.” You hollered out to the man, he nodded at you.
“See it’s fine.” You smiled and walked into the beef.
“Welcome ladies, what can i get you started with today?” Richie smirked as you and your sister walked into the shop.
“Hello..” Your sister squeaked out, looking around the building.
“Hi richie, can we get two cheesesteaks please?” You batted your eyelashes at him, making him smile and lean a bit over the counter to kiss your cheek. “Alright take a seat, sweetheart.”
You smiled and motioned for a booth for your sister to sit down in.
While waiting you and your sister went over her wedding plans, her day had been arriving very quickly.
“Alright, two cheesesteak sandwiches.” Richie smiled as he placed them onto the table, your sister perked up and and hummed in delight at the smell of the food.
“Hey, sweetheart,”
You glanced up at richie who looked at you up and down. “Yes?”
“I thought you didn’t know where my jacket went..hmm?”
You felt red, he had caught you red-handed.
“I possibly found it in the back seat..”
He shook his head and kissed the top of your head.
“So richie, I trust you already know not to hurt my sister, correct?” Your sister questioned, swallowing her fry before turning to richie with a straight face.
“Would never dream about it.” Richie gave her a reassuring smile.
“Good.” She smiled before eating her food.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“Do I look alright?” Richie asked you as he watched you fill in your eyeliner.
“You look fine, stop messing with your tie!” You scolded, turing to look at richie, who raised his hands up in surrender.
After richie and your sister’s meeting, she had invited richie to her wedding rehearsal, you both thought it was finally time to introduce richie to your parents and other family members.
“I’m just freaking out, a gorgeous girl with a sad bastard?” He snorted as he walked into his bedroom and picked your bag up from the end of his bed to sit down.
“You mean a gorgeous girl with her fantastic boyfriend?” You smiled as you walked closer to him, slotting yourself between his legs.
“Tonight will be fine, it’s a step in the next direction!” You smiled down at him, softly holding his chin in your palms.
Richie just smiled and places a kiss on your palm.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Richie gave you a small smile as you squeezed his hand as you both walked into the venue, in the middle of the room, stood your sister and her fiance.
Your sister perked up and waved you both over.
“C’mon..” You gently tugged richie over to your sister and said your greetings to her.
“Mom and dad are outside.” Your sister whispered to you and richie as she hugged your both.
You nodded and took a deep breath before looking at richie, who’s grip had gotten a bit tighter.
Richie sighed and squeezed your hand twice before walking over to your parents.
“Mom, dad, i’d like to introduce to you guys my boyfriend.” You announced, making your mom smiling at richie.
“So this is the one that’s been making my daughter so smiley?” She teased before hugging richie and hugged her back.
You smiled at the pair and glanced back to your dad and felt your smile drop, his face was upset, he eyed richie up and down.
“Dad, this is richie jerimovich..” You guided richie toward’s your dad.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you sir.” Richie held his hand out.
Your father just watched richie for a moment before turning to you.
“We will be having a word after your sister’s rehearsal.” He said sharply, walking back into the venue without turning back.
Your mother sighed as she watched him, she turned to you and richie and reassuringly rubbed your arms.
“He’ll come around, he’s not always a grump.” She smiled before following after your dad into the venue.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
The rehearsal had a tint of tension in the air as you got in place for the vows.
Richie’s leg hadn’t stopped bouncing as he watched you elegantly walk down the isle before your sister and father.
As the rest of the guests chatted inside, your father had taken richie outside and forced you to stay inside with your mother and sister.
“I’m not an idiot you know..” Your father sighed as he looked at richie.
“Excuse me?” Richie questioned, raising an eyebrow.
“I know what you want with my daughter, and i’m not gonna let you hurt her.” Your father argued.
“I don’t know what your talking about sir, i love your daughter, truely.” Richie defended himself. “Bullshit, you’re not the first asshole to try this whole nice guy act with her!”
RIchie scoffed and rubbed his stubble, trying to contain himself.
“You don’t know what you’re talking about sir..” Richie sighed.
“Yeah right, that’s why your only see your daughter on certain weekends,” Your father scoffed.
“Just face it, you and her are from two very different lives, you don’t deserve to have her.”
Richie let his words sink in, without a second thought richie scoffed and raised an eyebrow. “You can talk shit about me all you want but you don’t know your family, do you? I may only see eva evry other weekend but hell, at least i know my kid’s favorite things!” RIchie argued back.
“I forbid you to speak or lay eyes on my daughter!” Your father yelled before walking back into the venue, you watched with wide eyes as you could see your dad and richie going back and fourth.
You quickly excused yourself and went to go outside but your father quickly dragged you away from the doors, you swatted his hand away from you.
“I have to go talk to richie, let me go dad!” You groaned.
“I’ve had enough of this ridiculous non sense “relationship” you have!” Your father yelled, making you scoff at his words.
“What? Gonna forbid me from seeing him?” You mockingly asked, your father only raised and eyebrow and nodded.
You froze and stared at him, in shock. “You can’t be serious…i’m an adult!” You grumbled out.
“DO you wish to see your sister walk down that aisle? To meet your future nieces and nephews?” He questioned, seemingly mocking you.
Your eyes began to water, scoffing at him while trying to wipe your tears.
“This is bullshit..” You muttered as you walked away from him and walked outside and look around for richie but didn’t see him anywhere, your phone buzzed from your palm, you tearfully unlocked it and sighed as a text from richie popped up.
R ♡ - i hate myself for this but i’m breaking up with you.
You sobbed at the text, your excitement for the night has washed away and was now replaced with grief of the loss of your relationship.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“You what!” Tina yelled at richie as he told everyone you’d no longer be visiting the beef on special visits for him.
“I had to T, her dad was right, her and I aren’t meant to be..” Richie sighed, mikey scoffed at his best friend.
“You’re an idiot!” Mikey declared, leaning next to marcus who shook his head at richie.
“It had to be done ok, or else I wouldn't have been able to give her the life she deserves.” Richie sighed, tired of everyone pointing out his dumb mistake of leaving you.
“How do you know she wants a life like she’s used to?” Tina questioned, making Richie look at her curiously.
“Did she hate going to see Eva perform? Did she hate coming here to bring you stuff you forgot? Did she-!” Tina was cut off by Richie realizing you always wore a big smile doing simple domestic things with him, going to the auto shop, buying groceries, watching movies while binging on dollar candy.
“I fucked up!” Richie groaned, searching for his keys.
Mikey chuckled as richie rushed past the doors and out to his car, everyone gathered around the back door and watched as richie manically peeled out of the parking lot.
“Think he remembers it’s her sister’s wedding today?” Tina questioned, making mikey and marcus laugh.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You smiled as your sister and her new husband walked down the aisle together.
You and the best man walked behind them and out into the hallway, you watched and greeted some guests as they exited the wedding hall and waited outside to see the bride and groom off to the reception.
Your father quietly walked past you, whatever phone call must've been important by the way he separated from everyone, you sighed, it had been weeks since your breakup with richie, your father had hardly spoke to you since.
“He’ll come around honey..” Your mother tried to soothe you, rubbing you back gently and guided you to see your sister off.
You smiled as you were handed a small can of bubbles to blow over the couple as they walked to their car.
The wedding had filled most of your time, it was a nice distraction from the pain, the wedding would’ve been better if richie was by you the whole time.
As you all watched your sister happily wave to everyone as they drove off, a warm hand on your shoulder made you turn to see your father with a sad smile on his face.
“Father?” You questioned, he sighed and motioned for you to step away from the crowd.
“I haven't been the best father as you've gotten older, i still act as if you are this little girl who has to respect me and do as I say,” Your father sighed out.
You tilted your head, confused.
“And with your sister being engaged and you showing up with a boyfriend, i felt old, my little girls were growing up, i was just- no I still am terrified of either of you getting used by someone who doesn't care.” He teared up at bit, you half smiled at him.
“Mr jermovich opened my eyes for me, i hardly knew you or your sister beside what you liked as kids, you’re a grown woman now, and if he’s what makes you happy, i’ll just to pray he doesn’t end up in a back alley.” He joked, making you snicker before hugging him.
“What if it’s late for him to take me back?” you stressed.
Your father chuckled and rubbed your back in comfort, “He’s smitten with you, you’ll find a way.”
You smiled at him and hugged him once more before he tore himself away and walked outside to join your mom in the car and drove off the reception.
With a little bit of acceptance you smiled and walked to your car and unlocked the door when a honk came from behind you.
“Yo, sweetheart!” A raspy voice called out
You rolled your eyes and ignored it. “I get i fucked up, but you don’t gotta ignore me!” A familiar voice shouted.
Quickly whipping around to face the car, a grin grew on your face, richie with his head out his window, still in his work shirt. You quickly ran over to the car. “What are you doing here?” You laughed as he smiled up at you.
“Had to make sure a pretentious asshole didn’t try to swoop in.” He grinned.
As you looked at richie it all clicked together, the phone call your dad was on, the reassurance that richie was smitten with you…”You called my dad?” You giggled.
“Took a lot to get your family’s help to spit it out but we got there!” He sighed.
“I love you.” You confessed, making richie laugh and pull you into a deep kiss.
“Love you.” He muttered against your lips. You pulled away snickering “you pulled a sixteen candles!” motioning towards your bridesmaid dress, and his casual wear.
“Just get in the car..” He laughed.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“What song you excited for E?” You asked the little girl as you, tiffany, frank, eva and richie sat together, waiting for taylor to come out and perform.
“Love story!” Eva squealed, clapping making tiff and richie smirk at her.
“Me too!” You laughed as the little girl, swung her legs and looked around the stadium.
You leaned back into richie and smile at him. “I think our song is love story, we relate to the lyrics a lot.” You joked making richie chuckle before kissing your cheek.
“We’ve come along away from your dad trying to keep you away from me..” He muttered to himself, the weight of the velvet box in his pocket, feeling heavier than before.
As the show went on, you all had stood up along with other people in your section as love story played.
“Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone, I keep waiting for you, but you never come
Is this in my head, i don’t know what to think!” You sang along with eva, not noticing frank and tiff pulling out their phone’s.
Richie looked at the stage and pulled the ring out and turned to you as you sang, eva tugged on your arm and pointed behind you towards richie.
You turned to see richie on one knee as the lyrics to love story lined up.
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said, marry me juliet, you’ll never have to be alone, i love you and that’s all i really know…
You gasped at the sight, everyone in your section screamed at the proposal and cheered as you nodded at richie, who quickly got up and pulled you into a kiss, eva cheered along with tiffany who finished recording you both.
“I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress, it’s a love story baby just say yes!” You and richie sang and you cradled the new ring on your hand.

I entered school where I further studied business administration and economics.
I acted like innocently in front of those I could use.
This line literally translates "I wore a cat in front of others I could use. 猫を被った "Neko o komutta" means 'to wear/put on a cat'. This is an idiomatic expression. It means one feigns friendliness of a cat while hiding their fierce claws.
The only ones who go to public school are rich kids.
To them I was just an overreaching no body who didn’t know his place.
— I was also subjected to vicious bullying.
Their methods were cowardly, under handed, and they harassed me daily.
Rich Student 1: Your Irish accent is repulsive. Can you not speak again?
Rich Student 2: Just breathing the same air as a poor person can contaminate you like them.
Everyone seemed to hate me.
That hatred became power.
And as I studied, I relentlessly looked for information on those who killed my sister.
(…..Found ‘em, these are the ones who killed her.)
They were from a prominent, respectable noble family.
When I told that shitty doctor about it, he said that the nobles would soon fall to ruin on their own due to taxation.
I guess he wanted to prevent my revenge.
(Idiot. “Soon” is too lenient, it isn’t enough, ya nutter.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ll  completely torture ‘n kill ‘em socially.)
(They’ll experience a livin’ hell)
And then, several years after my sister was killed
My revenge was complete.
The nobles I killed, my father, and my older brother, I ensured they suffered and died.
I didn’t do it directly. But….
(一I killed ‘em all.)
Afterward, I repaid that shitty doctor every last bit of the money he lent me with interest.
(It’s all over now)
As I wandered around London that night, I took smoke break on the bridge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jude: Ahhh, how refreshin’.
Jude: Sent ‘em all to hell. Well, they had it comin’ to ‘em.
Ever since that pure black hatred bloomed inside me, I’ve lived only for this day.
I dragged all of those who looked down on us to hell.
Because of that I was certain that I’d feel peace.
However -
(…..Haaaah…..)
(…..I feel empty.…..lonely…….and bitter)
(I’m jealous….of other happy people)
I could hear the sounds of laughter of families walking behind me.
I could hear the sounds of laughter of friends and couples.
Everyone was laughing with someone.
And all I had was the reflection of myself on the water’s surface.
(My health’s better ‘n I got money)
Jude: I’ve got nothin’.
(Ah, that’s right. Once somethin’s lost it can’t be replaced…that’s how it is.)
Filled with hatred, memories that I didn’t want came flooding back to me.
Jude’s Mother: ….Please, take care of your sister, Jude.
(…..I couldn’t keep my promise)
To protect my sister’s life.
I couldn’t even keep that promise — living shamelessly.
As my cigarette smoke drifted up towards the moon, I recalled a trivial promise made to my sister.
That was when she was alive.
In order to gloss over the pain of a fever, I asked a question.
What would you like to do if you were rich.
So, my sister answered,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jude: “When ya get rich, take me to the moon.”
All I had left was that small promise.
But at that moment, that’s all I had.
Jude: Wanna go to the moon?
Humans going to the moon is pipe dream.
With that alone, I started walking once again through the depths of hell.
Unaware that eventually I’d meet a woman who wouldn’t laugh at my dream, but would join me in making it come true.

I'm re-reading Sai's intro arc for fic reasons and got momentarily distracted by the sequence of events wherein Yamato gets assigned to Team Kakashi, because it unfolds like this:
Tsunade refuses to cave to the Elders' demand that she keep Naruto cooped up in the village
The Elders agree to this, but only if she allows them (aka Danzo-by-proxy) to choose who will fill Kakashi and Sasuke's spots on the team
Danzo comes in and chooses Sai specifically, but then makes the enormous mistake of giving Tsunade only a general set of recommendations for the last member's qualifications
Tumblr media
after which Tsunade turns around and does the absolute funniest thing she could possibly have done:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hilariously tempting to think of her doing this as a deliberate fuck-you to Danzo, but it's implied in the text that she doesn't even know about Yamato's Root background - she spends the next few panels explaining to Yamato who and what Danzo/the Foundation are, as if he wouldn't know. (Logically, I recognize that this is probably just because Yamato's Root backstory hadn't been conceived of yet, but in-universe it gives the impression that she doesn't know where he comes from):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's certainly plausible to read this as her carefully talking around the issue with Yamato - her "surely you've heard of him" could be one of those things where they both know what she means but aren't saying it out loud (due to concerns about surveillance, plausible deniability on her part, etc), so how much she knows is ultimately up for interpretation. I'm not rigidly committed to either read, though, because either way is equally entertaining to me - her picking Yamato as a deliberate fuck-you to Danzo is obviously satisfying, but her NOT doing it as a deliberate fuck-you to Danzo is just as funny, like - we know, canonically, that she picks Yamato because he has Wood Style, and probably also because he worked with Kakashi for so long, but for her to use those completely unrelated criteria and wind up unwittingly selecting the absolute LAST person Danzo would ever have wanted to be Sai's commanding officer is SO hilarious to me.
Either way, I love when Danzo comes into her office to ask if she finished picking the Black Ops commander, and she's like "yeah :) i did :) guess who"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
danzo: you better not have chosen somebody like your grandfather tsunade, who chose her grandfather's literal genetic clone: >:)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a quiet knock on the door catches your attention, which was previously focused on scrolling through random shows on Netflix. a weird feeling, you get. an emotion that seems to be the love-child of excitement and nervousness. there's no time to run away from these feelings, though, so you get up and open the door for the poor boy who's been hauling 3 bags of food.
"my god" he sighs, setting the bags down on the coffee table. "i think my stomach has eyes. there's no way we're finishing all this in one night." you laugh, noticing how he's holding his arm out of pain. "i've definitely done the same, more times than i'd like to admit-- here, sit down for a bit." gesturing to the couch, you sit down and pat a spot relatively close to you. he takes this offer with open arms, considering he'd walked pretty far. "sorry i took a while, hopefully i didn't keep you waiting too long?" his hands fidget together as he takes in your room. it's the size of a triple, but you have it to yourself. it's quite surprising how nice the school treats transfer students, considering how main students are usually shoved into a tiny room with 2-3 other people. you place your hand upon his; a ballsy move, but you know how it feels to be anxious about things. you don't want him to be anxious with you. "it's fine, really. i don't mind waiting for you." you smile, moving your hand back to it's previous position. embarrassment clearly runs through his body, but to you he just looked starstruck. after a moment of pushing these feelings back, he returns your smile. "i'm glad, then. um, can we eat? i fear my stomach is going to wrinkle up if we don't." "yes yuuta, we can eat."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"okay, okay. this seems good for now, i think?" he sits back from the laptop you two have been sharing, taking a second to re-read the outline. your eyes scan the page as well; it's a very.. rough outline. you start laughing at the last few lines, where he'd begun to give up on being professional. after all, only you two will see this draft. "why are you laughing?" he pouts, thinking you're making fun of the ideas laid out. "oh relax," you lean back with him, realizing he's gotten much closer than before. "i can just tell that you were rushing writing the final scene." his head whips to you and a hand clutches his chest, feigning shock; a sarcastic gasp falls from his lips. "how could you! we worked very hard on this!" your hand pushes his away from his chest, the both of them landing on his lap. "oh, shut up. i'm just teasing." he huffs anyways, a facade you've become accustomed to. after all, one of your best friends is nobara kugisaki.
reaching to a stuffed dog to your side, you hand it to him. "here, will an emotional support dog help?" he sighs, wrapping it in his arms. "i suppose." laughing again, you sit up and grab the laptop once more. "you're so dumb." he grips the toy more, you don't realize it, but he likes the way it smells of lavender just like you do. "what are you doing now, don't you think its enough for tonight?" you stop to think, after sending the draft to your phone. "well, we'll need to send casting calls to the neighboring schools sometime soon.. but i guess we can be done for now." he closes the laptop for you and places it on the table once again, looking back. "good, we can do that another time-" his sentence is cut off due to his phone practically blowing up in the room over. "sorry," he starts, getting up and handing the stuffed dog back to you. "let me go check on that."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"hey, sorry again. my friends were blowing up my phone for some reason." he comes back into the room where you two were sitting before, unsure if he should sit back down. he can't read your face, and you can't read his either, despite you both feeling the same way. "it's okay. you can sit back down if you want to stay a bit longer..?" you look down for a split second, anticipating the rejection he was about to give you. "i was looking for shows before you got here, but i couldn't find a good one." you try to convey what you say as a question, but it almost comes out as a plea. he doesn't say anything immediately, and you almost get upset? looking back up, you realize he's already getting ready to sit back down with you. "i'd love to stay. i also have an amazing suggestion for a show." your eyes light up, and it feels like the room filled with more air the way you both sighed with relief. "oh really?" you tease him, as he takes back the toy he'd left with you. "lay it on me then."

My Review of the OFFICIAL Wednesday Novelization
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Recently, MGM released an official novelization that re-tells the events of Wednesday Season 1. What makes this novelization most notable is that it is told in the FIRST PERSON from Wednesday's perspective. Thus, you are getting the chance to relive the entire first season inside of Wednesday's mind this time.
On one hand, this provides great insights into Wednesday's character, and provides some explanation for certain moments in the show that I originally thought didn't need to be explained. For example, the piranhas Wednesday unleashed early in the first episode... we now know she was able to get them from a pet shop owner after black mailing him with information she had about him and his secret mistress. It makes an already dark moment in the show even more dark, and I love it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However on the other hand, I sort of enjoyed how in the show: we had to guess what Wednesday was thinking just by looking at Jenna Ortega's face. I think it was way more fun at times to imagine what was going through Wednesday's mind, versus knowing with certainty what she was thinking. Additional criticisms I also have include how the book uses very little of Wednesday's actual narration from the show, and the bizarre choice of skipping certain scenes of the series, while over explaining in details other scenes (including a few short moments Wednesday wasn't even present at).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However all these flaws are made up for with the fascinating insights into how Wednesday views Enid. To be clear, this book does NOT say Wednesday has a romantic interest in Enid. However... Wednesday's first person narration does have Wednesday slowly admit to herself that she does view Enid as her best friend... although Wednesday also admits that is by default, because she also considers Enid her only friend (with characters such as Eugene, Bianca, and Xavier only being described as allies). Throughout the later half of the book, Wednesday also describes herself as missing Enid whenever she's not around, even talking about how she misses the bright colors she wears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, while the book for the most part does not contradict what happened in the show... there is one small retcon the book throws in. As Wednesday wishes to grow closer to Enid, she wishes to find some way she can better relate to Enid, and give them both something in common they can talk about. Since Enid now has a boyfriend, Wednesday (according to her first person narration) decides to try a romantic relationship with Tyler (so that she and Enid can grow closer due to both having boyfriends now). So according to the book... in her own weird way... Wednesday kissed Tyler as a way to get closer to Enid... which I think is a BRILLIANT RETCON!
So while the book is a bit uneven at times (and likely could have used one more rewrite), and does eliminate much of the unspoken subtext that occurred during scenes in the show... it still is a fascinating novel. The insights into how Wednesday's brain thinks is very entertaining and imaginative at times; including fun new dark jokes Charles Addams himself would be proud of. I would not recommend casual fans or people that have never seen show read this book... but for hardcore fans (and fanfiction writers that need some new inspiration on how to write Wednesday): this is definitely worth your time.

The Patron Saint of One Way Trips
Ch7
Tumblr media
Description: PROGRESS IS MADE!!! Whoop!!! Anyway, Gaz and Soap are briefly sad, little bit more Cap in this one - he is starting to warm up and,as the pack alpha, this is important!! Laika is still very hard on herself, but I think Laswell gives her some words of wisdom. And guess who the pilot is that John stands and chats to the entire heli ride. No other than big Nikolai 🫶🏼 he will feature properly soon but enjoy his little peep into the story in this chapter.

*Laika's POV*
We load up into the jeep. I am quick to claim the same spot that I sat in for the ride here, keen not to have much interaction with the 141 pack. They hadn't really said much since I went and opened my stupid mouth. I feel Gaz shuffle into the seat next to me, too busy distracting myself by looking out of the window. There looks to be nothing for miles. Just trees and snow. You'd die out there in the wilderness my brain laughs. Not that I was thinking of running... I start to wonder where exactly it is we are. I don't even know the location of my cell.. just that we are in Russia. It's cold. I try not to take comfort from Gaz's hoodie. But I'll appreciate it while I still have it.
The jeep lurches forward. I glance up and see that Ghost is at the wheel this time. He bumps it off of the curb and accelerates onto the road, wheels spinning slightly due to the snow. I try to relax. The tension in the car could have been cut by a blunt knife. Even Soap was quietly staring ahead. My eyes betray me, filling with un-shed tears. I watch the scenery pass from the window, trying to blink away the threatening onslaught of tears. It starts to itch. I just know my eyes are red and my face is puffy. Pathetic.
The car ride seems to pass by in a blur, or maybe I passed out, I can't really tell. The next thing I see is a large concrete clearing with a helicopter and a few - three - jeeps, all identical to the one we are in. The snow had been pushed to one side, leaving a huge mound. I stare at it. Ghost hits the brakes and the car slows to a halt. The captain steps from the car and walks toward the first car in the queue of three.
He taps the window and the door slowly opens, revealing a woman. It must be Laswell. The woman who has read my file.I stare at my knees, trying to just dissociate. Johnny jumps from the car, Gaz sliding out after him. It leaves just me in the back - and Ghost behind the wheel. I know that he is staring at me from the rear view mirror, I refuse to move. I hear a tap on my window. I don't react. The door opens slowly. It's the woman.
"Y/N Y/L/N?" she queries. I turn into a statue. My eyes blinking rapidly, trying not to break down. "I'd like you to follow me" she instructs. I resist the urge to whimper in fear. Instead opting to obey. Disobedience will get you punished - my brain helpfully adds. I reach for my seat belt and press the button, releasing it. I turn and step from the car - she holds the door open for me. She leads me to the helicopter and up the ramp. I trail after her with my head down, dejected, as if I was on a tight leash. It's all so loud. The blades of the helicopter spinning, the pounding of my heart and the voice screaming at my inside my brain. It's almost unbearable.
As I make it to the top of the ramp, I see Price talking to the pilot. Gaz and Soap are sitting quietly beside each other. Soap has his head rested on Gaz's shoulder. He looks.. sad? I hear heavy footsteps from behind me. Ghost. He walks past me and sits down beside Soap, leaving a small gap between them. He looks tense. He stares at me, the eye-black around his eyes making him look even scarier to me. I stare back with big, nervous eyes and a trembling lip.
"Y/N, I'm Station Chief Kate Laswell - CIA." She seems to pause, possibly waiting for me to respond. What was I supposed to say? It's nice to meet you? - a few seconds of silence pass before she continues - "Task-force 141 were sent to Siberia with the objective to recover intel from the Russian terrorist group that, as far as I understand, you were an operative asset for, yes?"
Silence
She sighs. "I am a firm believer in justice, Laika" the use of that name snaps me out from my stubborn depressive state but I don't let it show, I remain stoic. Justice. Justice would be death. Me being killed for my crimes. "You cannot go back and change what has happened - but - I strongly suggest that you start here - with me, right now - and you can help change how this ends. What do you think?" My brow furrows. What does she mean? She must notice my confusion because she speaks up again. "I've spoken, at length, with the Captain, and we both believe you are not at fault in all of this. We want to help you Laika. But we cannot help without your cooperation".
I meet her blue eyes for the first time. She smiles at me gently, "what do you say? Will you help me? Help us..?" She gestures over my shoulder. Gaz and Soap are looking over, clearly spectating but as soon as I turn to glance in the direction Laswell had pointed, they snap their heads away and act casual, as if they weren't listening in on the conversation. Ghost looks wholly disinterested, verging on pissed off. The Captain is leant against the wall of the helicopter with his arms crossed. As I meet his eyes, he gives a quick, strangely boyish for a mature Alpha, smile and a sharp nod.
I turn back to Laswell and meet her eyes for only the second time. "What do you need me to do?" I ask quietly, voice cracking slightly. I decide if they want my help, and if they're truly the good guys this time, that I will be there obedient little hell-hound. I will do whatever they ask of me until I die or not needed any longer. This way, I would atone for my sins.
"I need you to help us, you have skills we could use, and I need you to tell me everything that they have done to you. I believe they've been dabbling in war crimes. We need to burn them to the ground. Who better to help us than their own creation? You, Y/N - you were never truly bad, were you? I can tell by your file. There was so many things you did 'wrong' - you were constantly disappointing them, weren't you?"
Wow! I thought I was making progress, now she is just slating me for how useless I am.. What the fuck?
"Disappointing them with your good nature and persistent resistance to orders - even when drugged. Disappointing them by somehow surviving every single one of the suicide missions they sent you on. You were never their asset. Never willing to comply. I know what they did to you. I'm not sure if you will remember more once the drugs have left your system - but you are strong. Stronger than you think."
Oh.. OH - It was a compliment. I feel lighter. My heart warms me from the inside. I realise that this is the first time I have felt my own warmth. Independent warmth. It's coming from me. I feel real again. Probably only fleetingly, but it's nice while it lasts, huh?
The captain suddenly appears beside me. I nervously side-eye him. "You in?" he grumbles, his raspy voice cutting through me like a knife. I nod hesitantly. "Words please. Need you to say it." He smiles again. "I'm in" ... "Captain" I add afterwords. He pats my shoulder twice, gently. "Kate will fill in your paperwork, answer her questions, it won't take long. Go and sit with the boys. We are about to take off". I nod and move to where I'd been told to sit. I step around Ghost, and sit a seat's space away from Gaz and Soap. I buckle my seat belt and rest my head back against the wall, breathing deeply.
*Gaz's POV*
I'd walked back into the safe-house just as Laika was trauma dumping details of some sort of mission to Johnny. Cap and Simon were already listening in. Nosy fuckers! Cap lifts a finger to his mouth, as if to say 'shhh' and then nods his head to the side toward Laika and Johnny. I'm not sure how this had happened. I'd left her waiting at the door just five minutes ago. What the fuck?
But jesus, her memory of that mission was bad. I'd been through lots of shit during my time, but it sounds as if she has just been through trauma after trauma. I want to step into the room and wrap her in a hug and keep her away from the rest of the world. I would never hurt her like that. Somehow, Johnny seemed to be doing an alright job of keeping her from fully losing it.
When she finishes and looks up at us, I have nothing to say. My heart aches for her. I was literally rooted to the spot. Everything happens quickly after that. Cap tells us to load up and get on the road. I feel a small flame of hope when Laika moves to my side of the car thinking she wanted to sit next to me, but instead she was avoiding me for the entire drive. She didn't look at me once. She didn't even move when Soap and I slid out of the car once we had arrived. We must have broken her trust by listening in when she was venting to Soap. Or she just didn't want us near her. I felt ashamed of myself.
I can tell Soap feels the same way. We go to the heli and sit down, stewing in each others' moods. We'd fucked up. Big time.
*Soap's POV*
She was pissed at me. I shouldn't have pushed her to spill her secrets. Stupit' bastard that I am. And to make it worse, they'd all listened. I was too caught up in her, to even realise that my pack had collected at the doorway. Poor lass was heartbroken. She ignored us and went back into her bubble, refused to even look at us.. We'd well and truly fucked it.
Gaz and I had discussed it and decided to not push her again until she approached us first. Gaz said it was something along the lines of letting her 'take back control'. I'm not a patient man, but I will try my best to behave.
*John's POV*
I'd sat up all night reading the parts of her file that Kate had sent over. Simon disappeared for twenty, or so, minutes saying he thought he had heard something. Wasn't until we'd practically surrounded the poor lass in the living room this morning that Ghost accused her of looking for something that wasn't hers. Turns out it was a fucking hanky. She had nothing left but a hanky and she had left it in Gaz's jacket. I needed to speak to Kate about her. She was no terrorist. Not in my book.
When I came downstairs with my bag, ready to leave, I heard her weeping to Johnny. My grip on the door frame had started to splinter, drawing blood from my hand. I was angry. Not at her. Never at her. But at what they'd put her through. The file didn't go into this sort of detail. I had an idea. I asked Simon to drive - deciding that my time was better spent messaging Kate. I had had an idea.
When we arrived, I made sure that I was the first to greet Kate, away from the others. "Go easy on her, Kate. She's sensitive. Needs fixed up.. she's been put through the mill with those bastards". Kate nodded and promised to go steady on her and agreed to my plan. I'd asked Kate if Laika could temporarily join us at our base to help us learn about the Russian's - their habits and weaknesses. Kate agreed that she could be valuable. I nod, but behind the 'Captain' persona, there was different reason - I want to keep her safe. She needs a bit of help right now. And the boys seem to like her.
*Simon's POV*
I had listened to the asset's little chat that she had with Johnny. Sure, she'd been through some shit, but haven't we all?
I could see the cogs turning in Cap's brain. The Captain has a habit of finding strays. Hopefully this one doesn't stay for long. Let's just hope they are right about her and she doesn't turn out to be a rat.
I was pissed off that Johnny clearly liked her. I wanted to get back to base, have a cuppa and read a book. Switch off for a few hours. But this - this was a disaster waiting to happen.
*Laika's (Y/N's) POV*
Laswell stands across from me as the heli lifts into the sky, she holds one of the straps that hang from the ceiling. Gaz and Soap are looking excitedly between the two of us. Laswell waves a clipboard. "Few questions, then I'll leave you alone. Promise" she jokes. I nod, "You can leave some of these out if you don't know the answers - we will run tests when you settle in at base, but answer what you can please". I nod again, but this time mutter "ok".
"Name?" - "Y/N Y/L/N or Laika"
"Address? - we'll leave that blank for now, Birthplace? -" I intterupt, telling Laswell my place of birth before she left that section blank too.
"Presentation" - "Don't know.. but probably Beta" She nods at my answer.
She continues asking similar questions, like date of birth, blood type, medical conditions and so on and so forth.
She then flips to the other side of the paper, which concentrates more on military training and active duty history. "I think that will do for now. John will test your fitness once you've settled in. It'll be tests like a five kilometer run, target practice and hand to hand combat - just so he can decide how best to use your skills. Does that sound ok to you?" - "Yes ma'am" I reply.
"Just Kate is fine - and Laika, or Y/N I should say.. Welcome! Any issues, you know where to reach me" she smiles and extends her hand for a handshake. I shake it nervously, breaking eye contact. She then offers me a padded envelope. I take the envelope and she immediately turns away and walks towards where the Captain is standing, behind the pilot.
I slump back into my seat and open the envelope. It's a phone! I switch it on, using the pass code Laswell had included inside the envelope to unlock it. It has the SAS symbol on the lock screen, and a few contacts already entered. Captain John Price, Sgt Kyle Garrick, Sgt John MacTavish and L.T Ghost. Shit, was that his real name?!.
I can practically feel the desperation of the two Sergeants sitting next to me. Since when did they get shy? I think to myself. I decide to be brave, now that we were to work together. I look at them both and they immediately smile, hopefully. What are they hopeful for?! I am confused.
"uhm.. sorry if" - "WE'RE SORRY" they both near enough shout in unison, cutting me off. "Wh-what?" I ask, completely confused.
"We upset you, we didn't mean it.. forgive us?"
"You didn't upse- what??" I shake my head, trying to collect my thoughts "I thought you hated me after hearing how I'd killed the young bo-" - "NO!! That's not... no.. we shouldn't have listened in.." Gaz explains. "And I shouldn't have kept pushin' ya to tell me everything.. Sorry Lass.." Soap apologises.
"Can we stop with all this bullshit and shut the fuck up." Ghost huffs, halting the back and forth conversation about who was the most sorry. Helpful as ever.
Gaz and Soap smile at me and Soap taps the seat that remains unoccupied beside them. I shuffle over from my seat to sit next to them. Soap immediately puts his arm around me and pulls me closer.
"Mmm, still smell of Tobacco, lass.. You'll be driving Cap crazy walking about like that ya' ken?"
WAIT WHAT???!
