Yeah, that's what I thought. It's all his survival that his mindset is that everyone is still strictly fictional that he ends up disregarding most of them. "Everyone is still book characters including him" is still his mindset.

But he doesn't really think that he's a canon fodder. Imo, he thinks his role as SQQ is a canon fodder.

I meant SY disregards GYX's death is that other than that, there's no actual mentions of GYX anymore bc he ends up so hyperfocused on his survival after bc of TLJ, ZZL, and LBH, that his existence just got erased. He treated GYX exactly like a canon fodder, 'Death that you'll get outraged at first, but soon get over it'

I remember this part exactly bc I was ranting to my mom (she reads it) about it like "Huh??? Did they just kill him off and he's never mentioned again?? Why did they have to kill him off like that?"

Also, the part where SQH says that they've changed, like, wouldn't students change a bit if your teacher (who is incredibly strict and does corporal punishment on you harshly) changed? This is an era where corporal punishment still exists, but bc LBH is the protag, of course he needs more extra.

I've always thought that bc there's little to no pressure on them anymore, there's no point in being little villain canon fodders anymore.

I mean, I was the same before bc during elementary school, I hated everything and was bitter and stuff bc the teachers full on had favouritism that they hated other students other than them. They say right to the student's face on how stupid we were. They often smack us, too.

Then, the students, there were groupie bullies everywhere, they would steal and beat up each other. I mean, we were 10 ish and violent bc the teachers don't give a shit about us. And bc it was a school from kindergarten to high school, there were some high schoolers beating elementary students too.

But I moved school, and the teachers were nicer, and thus the students were a lot calmer. I still didn't learn shit at all in this school so I got tutoring, but I was calmer.

I guess experience just makes me think differently about that part. They're not on guard anymore so they're not "bitter and full of resentment"

Edit: I reread that part, and it seems that "the flock of disciples" are just NYY, MF and LBH. Does he only have 3 of those disciples?

Its mentioned that they have disciple brothers, but they're once more vague bc they're a bunch of canon fodders

More edit: It wasn't bc the teachers were nice. Im saying that they were nicer in a sense that they don't hit students or call us stupid. They're nicer in a sense that they left us alone.

LBH being a scapegoat in SV is bc all the disciples are directing the punishment on him bc they don't want to be hit instead, which is common back in my school too. Direct the punishment onto someone else that the teacher doesn't like already in the first place.

Once SQQ stops hating, there wasn't any point in directing those punishment onto LBH bc there's no punishment at all anymore and they're all left alone.

They're left alone, and they don't have to fear any punishments at all. Their guards are down.

And to the sense that they'd defend him, of course they'd defend him. He's not that SQQ and changed. He's a nicer version of SQQ after all.

And to say that SY thinks of himself as SQQ. Yeah, that's bc he has to live an entire different life as him. He has to be SQQ or be punished by his system. But he also often curses SQQ as being an abuser and a lecher, completely separating them, until after the revelation. This dude absolutely has to be SQQ even if he isn't SQQ. It's all assimilated acting. You cannot get out of the role no matter how much you do.

He could at least break out of the OOC function, letting SQQ be more of himself, but it still isn't himself at all. He still has to act as SQQ to the expectation of others.

The only time he isn't SQQ is when he's Peerless Cucumber and you could see him going back to the SQQ act in front of others except SQH.

So yeah, that's what I meant as SQQ is a role and not himself.

as far as you knew, toge, panda, and yuji had stayed downstairs playing rounds of beer pong while you happily went with nobara upstairs. however it seemed god was on your side today as megumi tagged along behind you two, for whatever reason. you heard him mumbling under his breath something about not liking the taste of beer or even the actual game, but the reason seemed unimportant now as he sat next to you, alone, after nobara ran off saying she was going to go get another friend of theirs or something like that.

usually you’d be able to strike up a conversation, however you felt rather awkward as megumi seemed distracted on his phone, furrowing his brow slightly, typing away against the screen.

what could you ask him? his hobbies? what his favorite movie was? wait, didn’t yuta say something about them being in the same class? finally after another minute, he put his phone away and sighed, looking up ahead of him.

oh what the hell was there to lose, if you failed miserably you’d probably never have to directly meet him again anyway.

as you spoke up, you smiled slightly at the way his attention almost immediately turned to you.

“so… what do you do?” well you had a good chance, maybe, but what the hell type of question was that to start off with?

“what do i… do? like… job wise?” he questioned, a slight pout on his lip, but maybe they were just naturally like that.

“yeah.”

he shrugged slightly, before leaning back further into the couch, “i make music, go to college, have a job on the side too…”

“oh, cool- wait you made that song with yuji right?”

he internally cringed “no. don’t bring that up.”

you almost laughed at the way his expression soured almost immediately just by mentioning it.

“it wasn’t that bad…”

“you don’t have to spare me. don’t lie to my face, i know it was horrendous.”

“well… i haven’t heard any of your other stuff, but i’m sure you were just being nice to yuji to let him… y’know… on one of your instrumentals.”

“well i need to redeem myself then, i can’t have that as your only impression of my music.”

“y’know… we should trade…”

he seemed to think about something for a moment, before letting out a small huff.

smiling at him, you moved closer, yet he didn’t seem to move back at all, mostly just seeming amused. “oh, so you’re not into ‘pink princess pilates’ music?”

he scoffed, a small smirk forming on his face, “what type of ai generated spotify wrapped thing is that?”

“i missed you- where have you been recently?” she continued, seemingly wanting to reach out and touch him, but hesitant to.

“just busy… work… college and stuff.” he replied, about to turn back to you to introduce you to what you hoped was just his friend, that is until yuji and nobara seemed to have finally caught up with you guys again. before you even got the chance to say goodbye to him, yuji was pulling you off the couch and dragging you away from the group.

“y/n real quick- sorry- but pleaseeee you need to dj for us or something- just for like half an hour at least!! you need to show off against this asshole!”

no context whatsoever to what was happening, you couldn’t even reject yuji’s offer as he basically dragged you towards the music booth.

You’re in the kitchen, humming to yourself, as you carefully follow the recipe you found online. Sam and Dean are sitting at the table, watching with a mix of concern and confusion. They’ve been through this before—your attempts at cooking and baking are... let’s say, a little less than successful. But neither of them has the heart to tell you this probably isn’t going to end well.

Dean leans back in his chair, eyeing the pie crust you’ve just rolled out. “You sure you don’t want some help?” he asks, trying to sound casual but failing miserably.

“I’ve got it!” you say, flashing him a grin that could only be described as pure determination. “You two just relax. I’m going to bake the best pie you’ve ever tasted.”

Sam glances at Dean, but before either of them can get a word in, you’ve already started dumping ingredients into a bowl, mixing them with an intensity that has Sam’s eyebrows knitting together. “Uh, maybe you should double-check the recipe? You’re using... a whole stick of butter, right?”

You glance over your shoulder, laughing. “That’s what it says. I’m not skimping on the good stuff.”

Dean coughs, trying to hide his grin. “Sure, sure. More butter never hurt anyone.”

The smell of baking fruit and sugar fills the air as you continue your work, oblivious to the concerned looks Dean and Sam exchange. At one point, Sam swears he sees you accidentally spill an entire jar of cinnamon into the pie filling.

Dean shifts in his seat, his eyes darting between you and the pie. “You sure this is the best way to do it?” he asks, hoping you won’t catch on to his barely disguised panic.

You flash him another confident grin. “Relax, Dean. I know what I’m doing.”

When the pie finally goes into the oven, you stand back, hands on your hips. “There. Now we just wait.”

Dean and Sam look at each other, both clearly thinking the same thing: This is going to be a disaster.

A few minutes later, the timer goes off, and you skip over to the oven, pulling out the golden-brown pie that’s, well, kind of slanted on one side. But you’re beaming. “It’s perfect!”

Dean and Sam exchange a glance. “Looks... uh, great,” Sam says weakly, forcing a smile.

Dean clears his throat, trying not to laugh. “Yeah, if you like your pie with a little... character.”

You’re so excited, though, you don’t even notice. “Okay, I’m serving it up now.”

Dean looks at Sam with wide eyes as you put down the plates, one slice in each. He leans in as soon as you turn your back, going in for a third slice. “Uh... maybe we should... I dunno, have a little taste test first?” He grabs a fork before Sam can protest, and takes a cautious bite.

Sam watches him, a little horrified. Dean’s face scrunches up, his eyes watering. He chews a little longer than necessary before spitting it out dramatically into a napkin. “I—I don’t think this is supposed to taste like that.”

Sam hesitates, then gingerly picks up his own slice. He takes one bite and immediately follows Dean’s lead, spitting it out. “I think I’ve had better pie at the bottom of a dumpster.”

But neither of them has the heart to tell you how awful it really is. When you turn back around with a plate of pie, you see both of them smiling with strained expressions.

“Best pie ever,” Dean says, forcing a smile.

Sam quickly adds, “Amazing. Really, I’m impressed.”

You beam, obviously proud of your work. “I knew you’d love it. I’ll make it again next week!”

Dean and Sam exchange a glance, both of them silently agreeing they’ll never, ever let you bake again. Not unless they want to die from cinnamon overload.

First off, I definitely agree with you about the social weight of the Herondale name being a Shadowhunter thing. It's something I always chafe against on a personal level, but it makes sense for other characters to see family name as something important. Jace's personal conflict over identifying with the Herondales also makes sense, because he's suddenly being handed all this history and pressure to live up to the legacy. Accepting that he's a Herondale so that he can continue the line means accepting that he must become a part of this historic legacy.

The thing with the demon blood is that I think the way you're interpreting it would be more interesting than how it actually is in canon. I prefer the story of Sebastian and Jace both having the same potential for good/evil but being shaped into totally different people by how they were raised (Valentine saw Sebastian as demonic and Jace as angelic and treated them accordingly, and Jace got to spend half of his life with the Lightwoods while Sebastian was left with Valentine for his teen years), but I really don't think that's the intent of the text. Full disclosure, I haven't reread the Sebastian stuff in about two years (I'll get to COG soon), but I remember the story being that Sebastian is literally inherently evil and cannot feel affection. The hypothetical non-evil Sebastian who was never given demon blood is treated as a different person (he's got a different flower card and everything), and part of this is that "good" Sebastian would have Jocelyn's green eyes instead of Valentine's black ones. He gets all the evil burned out of him at the end, and it changes his eye color because the black eyes from Valentine are a sign of his evil nature. I don't think I need to explain why dark eyes being treated as morally inferior to light ones is uncomfortable.

I AM NOT TRYING TO ACCUSE CC OF DOING THIS MALICIOUSLY. I AM A FAN OF HERS.

I guess what I'm saying is just that I think Sebastian could have been a really interesting character if his villainy came from being treated as evil from the time he was born, but based on my memory that isn't what the books do with him. The day he was born, Jocelyn looked into his eyes and saw something nonhuman there. I wish it was confirmed that her revulsion was a result of her mental state, that she couldn't bring herself to love the child who resembled her abusive husband, but I'm pretty sure the books say that she was right to see straight to his demonic nature. (I could be wrong, I'll see what I think about COG this time around).

For contrast, look at James and Tessa who also had demon blood and yet used their powers for heroism. They clearly had free will, and I just don't think Sebastian did. (Jace and Clary also had free will, and I agree that their angel blood never made them perfect people. I just think it's a little odd that Jace's fears that demon blood made him evil was resolved by him learning that he had angel blood instead. It's not that angel blood makes him a good person, it's that he thought demon blood would make him a bad person and was never proved wrong about that).

Like I've said, my memory might be failing me, but I really strongly remember the message of Sebastian as a character being that he had no free will in regards to his villainy, and that he was born evil due to demon blood and the only way to make him a good person would be to burn away all traces of the demonic influence.

I'm also enjoying the chance to think a little more about TMI, and I do still enjoy Sebastian as a villain (much like I enjoy Jace's Herondalism), I just think you can see a bit of a shift in the overall philosophy CC writes with. TSC is very nurture in the small scale and nature in the big picture, if that makes sense; and Sebastian and Jace are where you can see some messy intersection between those perspectives.

My firmest TSC take will always be that Jace should have gone by Lightwood in the end. I get that him being a Herondale makes sense in the grand scheme of the TSC universe (him, Will, James, Kit, and Edmund are all birds of a feather), but his personal arc is far more dependent on the family who raised him. Learning about his biological parents is of course important to him, but calling himself a Herondale doesn't actually feel like a resolution to his identity crisis. TMI is all about rejecting the hatred handed down from previous generations, which is why neither Clary nor Jace identify as Morgensterns. While Stephen was nowhere near as bad as Valentine, he also did even less to shape Jace into his adult self. Robert and Maryse on the other hand actually raised him for half his life, and Alec Isabelle and Max grew up alongside him as his siblings. He's a Lightwood in every way that matters, I don't get why Jace (in-universe) would choose to identify himself as a Herondale when there's nothing tying him to that family but blood spilled before he was born.

I have SO many thoughts about everything and they are in no kind of order yet, so here's just some quick little bits in the meantime!

OK SO. for this imma just drop little headcanons surrounding the rescue bots’ interactions w my culture as humans BUT i’m making a MUCH longer post about the socioeconomic status of multiple aligned continuity characters as well as how they relate to hinduism/hindu mythology. also i love women so i’m making them women for this (plus i have way more personal experience with desi female culture as an afab)

i think the rescue bots would be a lot more traditional (because they lived a long time ago and then were in stasis) so they’d probably wear tikas (bindi) and do a puja (prayer/ritual) every morning

boulder probably had like 12 dogs that they picked up off the streets (in nepal there are so many street dogs, many people with dogs just got followed home and then take in the dogs)

they all refuse to eat beef under any circumstances (cows are sacred)

heatwave's favorite goddess is absolutely Kali/Durga

they all met in a hostel during their final two years of school (it's very common for 11/12 graders to go to a boarding school because we don't consider that part of high school in Nepal)

i think they would all speak different dialects/languages as their mother tongue. like blades would speak Urdu, chase would speak Tharu, heatwave would speak Awadhi, and boulder would speak Maithilī

building off that, they're all multilingual, and speak English, their mother tongue, Nepali, and Hindi (Nepali students all learn English and Nepali, and most people speak fluent Hindi because they share a common language family)

their favorite holiday is Holi, because they like the water fights and throwing powder at each other

for day to day, they all wear a kurta suruwal or a salwar kameez, maybe a sari if they feel a little fancier (these are all traditional garments that more old fashioned people wear daily, but since i think the rescue bots are more traditional it works)

ok that's all the basic stuff i will say right now, real quick this is my overview for their fantasy backstory:

i'm debating over having them be reincarnated in place of stasis or if i should just make something up that is the equivalent, but either way they end up in a more modern context. i'm planning on assigning them each to a Pandava (legendary partial avatars of different gods). right now i think chase to Yudhishthira, blades to Bheema, heatwave to Arjuna, and boulder as Sahadeva.

let me explain my reasoning for each matchup. chase to Yudhishthira works really well, because Yudhisthira is the son of Dharmadeva, who is the personification of dharma, a concept that essentially means all that is in the natural order of justice and harmony. since chase is always trying to uphold the law (and thereby justice and the natural order) i thought this matchup worked really well. blades to Bheema is honestly just because i think it would be funny, because Bheema is the son of Vayu, the god of wind. keeping in line with blades' bad luck in the show to always get a flying alt mode, it only makes sense for this trend to continue in this AU. heatwave to Arjuna works for two reasons: one, Arjuna is the leader of the Pandavas, and two, he's the son of Indra, the god of storms and rain, and is also commonly associated with war. heatwave can synthesize water in the show, so having him be Arjuna is a subtle call back to that. plus, with Indra's association as a powerful warrior and war god, that could explain heatwave's fascination with those subjects. finally, boulder to Sahadeva. Sahadeva is the son of the Ashvins, twin gods of medicine and knowledge, and are also associated with science. Sahadeva is also considered the wisest and most eloquent of the Pandavas, and was generally revered for his intelligence and calm nature. this reminds me pretty clearly of boulder, so i matched them together.

the only issue is there are five Pandavas and only the four main rescue bots, so i'm not sure who the fifth would be. the other Pandava is Nakula, Sahadeva's twin and the other son of the Ashvins. he was known for his loyalty, bravery, and devotion to his cause. he was also considered extremely attractive (like ridiculously so, i'm not kidding, look it up). if anyone has any ideas on who could fit that role, feel free to let me know!!

bc like. im desi and i LOVE fantasy AUs but they’re always based off of european culture and i want more desi rep. also transformers works RIDICULOUSLY well with hinduism because its polytheistic and with our sociopolitical structures because we literally do have a caste system. i’ve been going over concepts for this and who/what each character could be so like. if anyone is interested in learning more abt desi culture i would love to talk about this stuff!!

casey is obvs funny with this rivalry stuff because on the one hand he's very 'well I don't care who I beat' (lie) and 'I don't motivate myself using my rivals' (also a lie) and then he's also repeatedly emphasising that valentino was ONE of his biggest rivals and he only competed against him a few years... like a lil side quest in the story of his career. Those Few Years where valentino was his big rival. whereas dani and jorge were his cohort so he did compete with them for a greater span of time... and this is technically true and does MATTER but it is also extremely noticeable in his output which rivalry he has the most thoughts about. and yes casey would say that this is because everyone ELSE cares the most about That One Rivalry the most and also his opponent being an annoying dickhead means it's the one he has the most complaints about... but at a certain point, it doesn't really matter, because there's still one rivalry you're talking about way more than any other. you can tell that he's at least given jorge's interiority a bit of thought, kinda went 'well he was arrogant but also Learnt From The Error Of His Ways and was maybe misunderstood so' -- but also he's not going beyond that, he's not examining jorge's soul, and he's not even doing any of that with dani. it's very much a rhetorical commitment to those other two rivalries. ultimately the point is that he's doing what he can to not talk up his biggest rivalry TOO much, because, you see. he Did Not Care That Much. (lie.) now objectively speaking this kind of framing literally does not matter, who cares which one of these was the most meaningful rivalry, but it's interesting that it matters to him!! casey's problem is that he is extremely sensitive and cares deeply about what other people say about him, but one of the things he's most sensitive about is the idea that he could let himself be mentally affected by ANYTHING, worst of all his rivals. they cannot be granted that much power over him. and all of this has kinda funny consequences in that he has pretty rigid patterns in how he talks about this stuff that are at times quite convoluted because he has to simultaneously emphasise that a) none of his rivals massively mattered to him, b) That Rival didn't matter more than the others, c) what That Rival did to him was completely beyond the pale, and d) none of that affected him mentally whatsoever. at most one of these is true. there are so many things casey wants so badly not to care about but it keeps spilling out of him anyway, this oozing sludge of resentment and repressed hopes and desires and frustration and longing and bitterness. he keeps giving himself away... he cares so much and he can't stand it

Going in order and skipping stories that I've already drawn or do not apply to this conversation (a.k.a. no one died or met with a horrible fate), next is He Told Me Everything.

I was genuinely not sure whether this one counts. On one hand, all those guys including the main character no longer exist and are replaced by their weird semi-homunculus things from the MacGuffin bullshit that is FazGoo. On the other, technically there wasn't a death. But you know what? I decided to do it and go the extra mile of including the whole friend group Chris got himself by abandoning his old friends for "better" friends. You're stuck with them now buddy.

There's two things that made me say "fuck it, we're keeping these guys as ghosts". One is the fact that having at least one ghost who actively wants some sort of revenge (in this case, Chris who feels he was lied to because he was hoping he'd get a better life when he actually got his full identity and organs stolen from him without his previous knowledge) would fit the group well. Mary Jo slightly higher up in the reblogs almost fits that, but she also understands that there was also a panic response in there and calmed down a lot in 10 years. Chris genuinely wanta Dr. Little to get karma in one way or another.

The other is a possible fun storyline to explore with this. These four trying to ruin the next lock-in by fucking around with the FazGoo so at least a couple people don't get body-snatched is fun, but also the "experiments" that replace them don't really have as many memories. What if their plan was to get their living equivalents to rat out Dr. Little for even just saying that he wanted them to pull their teeth? Maybe they could ruin the next year's lock-in with that (Chris is a freshman and the others are sophomores, so they'd all be back the next year). Find someone in the class and tell them to record video of him instructing the students to pull a tooth and that's a good way to make a dent in his reputation. If the rest of of the ghost group gets involved then even better.

Brooke and Malcolm had good physical descriptions, but Chris (as far as I know) and Sanjeet didn't. Still don't know about Chris, but I thought of a guy in my theatre class when I drew him so I just went with it.

Malcolm still tries to make jokes and stuff, it's just harder after you wake up and find that the experiment that was supposed to just be "a mouth forms, tells you something, then dies and gets disposed of" turns into making a full copy of yourself that replaces you.

Yeah reading the graphic novel version of Sea Bonnies got it stuck in my brain as well as having drawn Toby from the Hide and Seek story made me draw Mott's ghost design. Also headcanons because I might actually take the idea of an ask blog with the dead (?) FazFrights protagonists seriously.

Design is based fully on the graphic novel. I'm not reading the actual thing because without the visual element it is NOT worth it to me (basically the story has to be real damn good if I'm gonna read it plainly)

Aight headcanon time

Mott's skin is so thin and easy to tear that he has a genuine fear that he will pop if he's squeezed too hard. Smaller wounds will pour out a version of the liquid inside of him (not blood because that shit is CLEAR/PURPLE from the sheer amount of Tribbles: Brine Shrimp Edition that are inside his body) and seal up quickly, with the liquid vanishing just as fast.

Everyone else on the FazFrights crew reacted mostly with "what the FUCK happened to you?!". They've seen decapitations, every bone in body broken, and even mpreg because as much as I hate In The Flesh ever semi-canonizing it as something that can happen in the FNaF universe I can't bring myself to leave it out, but someone having just skin and bone with no organs or even blood vessels is something that leaves them all wondering what could have done it.

Bouncing off the last one, Mott mostly ran away from the other ghosts in the group at first. His town/city was on lockdown because of a "parasite outbreak" (a.k.a. he really did fuck up his entire town) and he blames himself for it. I'm considering the idea that he wasn't even aware he was a ghost, since technically with the fact he survived for a little without organs means he was semi-undead for a bit, he could easily just still be in his body just without the sea bonnies inside anymore (like Michael and Ennard). So a bunch of ghosts are exploring a "ghost town" and his immediate reaction is that he has to hide somewhere and not infect them with this, not knowing that he as a ghost is no longer even a threat.

He can literally tear off his own limbs and reattach them due to there also being not connective tissue in his body anymore (being a ghost is literally the only thing holding him together). Finding this out was disturbing for everyone involved.

I'd like to think that his body, being just liquid, some bones, and skin, is malleable and someone decided at some point it was a good idea to fuck with him by sculpting a mustache on his face. Mott was NOT happy.
