How To Transfer Flipnotes from the Flipnote Hatena Archive to Flipnote Studio 3D
In case you didn't know, Sudomemo has archived all 12 TB of Flipnote Hatena, which you can view online right here:
If you made an account on Flipnote Hatena and uploaded anything back in the day, IT IS ON THERE! I found my flipnotes, which I thought were lost forever, and transferred them to my 3DS. Today, I'm gonna tell you how you can too!
Tumblr media
PART 1: Download your Flipnotes
On the archive, use the searchbar to type in the username and find the creator you want to download from. I'm gonna use BosS as an example.
Tumblr media
Pick a flipnote and open the inspector on your browser. Fun little ascii art :)
Tumblr media
Go to the tab in the upper lefthand corner labelled "Network" and select the XHR tab.
Tumblr media
Reload the page or press that Reload button to get network activity.
Tumblr media
That's your flipnote! Right click and hit "Save Response as," or double click it and it will download. It will not have a file format, so type .kwz at the end of it, which is the 3DS file format.
Tumblr media
There is one catch though! See that string of numbers at the beginning? We need to delete that. Otherwise, keep the name of the file exactly the same.
Tumblr media
PART 2: Transferring your Flipnotes
I'm gonna use FTPD to do this because I have an old 3DS and I don't have any way of putting my SD card in a computer. Fire that shit up and connect to the server on your computer.
You can do this with a file transfer service like FileZilla, but you can also just type the server address into your file explorer like so:
Tumblr media
Once you're in, find the folder containing your Flipnotes. The file path should be /private/Nintendo 3DS/app/JKZE
Tumblr media
As you can see with the flipnote in my root, the file name is similar to the one we downloaded, but doesn't have that string of numbers at the front. Also, this flipnote is inaccessible because it's in the root, not one of my folders.
Tumblr media
Place your downloaded flipnote(s) in one of your folders. Everyone should have the one titled "000," but I made one titled "Hatena" for this.
Note: Do not make a new folder on your computer, it can only be made in Flipnote Studio 3D.
Now, you can open Studio 3D on your ds and they’ll appear there! (Flashing lights warning for the video):
THERE YOU GO! Hatena flipnotes back on your sd card! They will look slightly smaller in Flipnote Studio 3D because of the difference in screen size, but they play perfectly fine, and are even editable if they're unlocked!
You can also view flipnotes and download them as video files here:

February Challenge: Media Consumption Detox
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The challenge
So I have this box. It's 29x40x22 cm, cardboard, I got it on a trip to Bunnings. And I'm only allowed to consume media that's literally in or represented in that box. For the whole month. No social media, no YouTube, nothing else. I'm allowed to add things into the box part way through, but I'm not allowed to take them out once they're in (except to use them, of course, but then they go back in the box).
I am allowed to use my phone/iPad/computer, but only for the media I've specified and put a placeholder in the box for, work, creative things (which means I can use Pinterest and Canva, as well as make posts on here as long as I don't use my dashboard), and checking in on my Etsy shop. To do this, I've put every social media or other content app (like my e reader app) into a folder so they're out of the way AND used one sec or Cold Turkey to block websites I don't want to use.
Why?
I don't think I value media enough. It's so convenient to me all the time, I just take it for granted, and I don't like that. I want to feel like the work that so many people put in to create these works means more to me than just the next cheap dopamine hit. This isn't a long term solution, but it'll hopefully give me a new perspective on media as a concept.
What's in the box?
Music
(V=LP vinyl, C=cassette tape)
V Bears in Trees - How to Build an Ocean: Instructions
C Bears in Trees mixtape
C Billy Bragg mixtape (to rock out to)
C Billy Bragg mixtape (to sit contemplatively/cry to)

C Discarded Doll / Boot Up, Bitch (sides A and B, but separate mixes)
C Eu/Dysphoria / The People's Folk (sides A and B, but separate mixes)
V I Don't Know How But They Found Me - Razzmatazz
V Carole King - Tapestry
V The Mamas and the Papas - If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears
C The Nonstick Pans - Nineteen Sixty Four
V The Oh Hellos - Notos / Eurus
V The Oh Hellos - Boreas / Zephyrus
V Panic! at the Disco - Pretty. Odd.
V Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
V Simon and Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence
V The Young Veins - Take A Vacation
Books
The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction
The Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood)
The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins)
Madame Bovary (Gustave Flaubert)
Good Girl, Bad Blood (Holly Jackson)
Ulysses (James Joyce)
my handwritten recipe book (I got the recipes from social media)
Other
Season 1 of Gilmore Girls (represented by an old video game case)
Season 2 of Gilmore Girls (represented by an old video game case)
Duolingo (represented by an old video game case)
Stardew Valley (represented by an old video game case)
a 1000 piece puzzle
a deck of cards
my tarot deck (mostly for visual art purposes)
Somehow, there's still a fair bit of space in there. Maybe one day I'll go to the library and pick up some more books, I don't know.
See you on the other side! I'll almost certainly be making posts during this time, but they might be about boring hyperspecific topics considering I won't be exposed to anything new.

The Art Of The Murdered: Flower bud (C: 2)
"なぜ俺をここに連れてきたのですか?(Why did you bring me here?)" Sousuke asked Giorgio
The detective looked at the foreigner and smiled "We're going shopping."
You're kidding.
"でははっきりさせておこう。あなたは俺が泊まっていたホテルを突き止め、ホテルの部屋で私が戻ってくるのを待ち、買い物のために再び俺を外に連れ出した?(So let me get this straight. You tracked down the hotel that I was staying in, waited in my hotel room for me to come back, and dragged me outside again for a shopping trip?)" the detective pouted "I wanted to tell you something but I realized I never got your number nor did you text me!"
Sousuke bows his head down "ごめんなさい、携帯電話を日本に忘れてきてしまって (Sorry, I forgot my phone back at Japan)"
"I can buy you a new one later" the foreigner swiftly lifted his head up "いや、そんなことは- (Oh no, you don't have to-)" the detective cut him off "So anyways, I found something suspicious" he grabs Sousuke’s hand "I thought it might be related to your brother"
"それは何ですか?(What is it?)" But the detective doesn't answer as they kept on walking to god knows what.
Giorgio leads Sousuke into a mysterious and empty hallway with it's lights flickering "While I was investigating your brother's case, I looked through the cameras in this mall"
"A stranger dropped something, and your brother gave it back to them, right?" Giorgio questioned him "はい (yes)"
"I can't believe I overlooked an interaction so unusual..." the detective suddenly stops walking and faces a door beside them.
He then tries to kick it down "何してるんだ!?(What are you doing!?)" Sousuke exclaimed.
The detective’s grin widened as he stepped back, shifting into a more focused stance. "We're going in."
Sousuke's heart raced, and for a moment, he considered running. The detective had acted so casually until now, but this sudden turn felt like a trap.
"The person who dropped something in the mall... they're connected to your brother’s case. And I’m willing to bet that whatever they left behind could be the key to finding the real culprit. Besides, it’s not exactly breaking and entering if nobody’s inside to catch us, right?" he faces Sousuke as he grinned.
Sousuke felt a wave of frustration and fear, but there was something about Giorgio’s calm confidence that made him hesitate.
Maybe, just maybe, this was the right thing to do. If there was any chance it could help Hebi, he had to follow through, even if the detective's methods were unconventional.
As Giorgio prepared to kick the door open, Sousuke could barely keep his thoughts straight.
The door swung open with a loud crash, and Giorgio stepped inside without missing a beat. Sousuke followed reluctantly.
The space was dimly lit, a dusty old storage room that smelled of mildew and forgotten memories.
Rows of boxes lined the walls, a bed in the middle of the room, a whole computer set up beside the bed with a 3D printer, and papers scattered across the room.
Someone has been living here.
Giorgio walked deeper into the room, his eyes scanning the surroundings with the intensity of someone who had seen far too many crime scenes.
He knelt by a pile of crates and started rummaging through them. Sousuke, unsure of what he was supposed to do, hovered by the doorway, trying not to let his nerves overwhelm him. "Over here," Giorgio called suddenly, holding up a small, crumpled plastic bag.
Inside it was a single, discarded object: a silver pen, one that looked ordinary at first glance, but when Giorgio turned it over, Sousuke noticed something strange—a small, almost imperceptible engraving.
Giorgio stood next to the computer with the pen in his hand "Did you know that with CAD or CAM software tools, you could conceivably create latex copies of someone’s fingerprints and place those prints on to objects that will hold them until they can be gathered by forensic technicians" Giorgio says as he turns on the computer "No password? This guy is a maniac" there was a folder called "Happy birthday."
As the detective opened the folder, his smile faded away.
"This is a list of all of the children who went missing for the past 4 years..." he mumbled.
Sousuke’s stomach lurched "Hebi gave this pen back to the stranger, right?" Giorgio asked, glancing up at Sousuke, his eyes sharp. "Do you remember seeing the person's face who had it?"
Sousuke tried to recall the encounter in the mall, but his mind was a mess of images "いや...ただ、彼らは手袋をしていて、服装で正体を隠していたんだ (No... just that they were wearing gloves and their clothes hid their identity.)"
Giorgio nodded thoughtfully, clearly deep in thought. "Gloves and hiding their identity? It's a deliberate attempt to avoid being caught. I was a fool for thinking I finally caught him after all these years"
"彼らは...兄を罠にはめた連中とつながっているのだろうか?(Could they be... connected to the person who framed my brother?)" Sousuke asked, the weight of his words sinking in.
The detective’s eyes narrowed, "The more we dig, the clearer it becomes. But I still don’t think we have all the pieces yet" he stood away from the computer "Let's get out of here before someone catches us."
As they walk out of the room, Sousuke suddenly felt something bumping into him.
"Owwww!" It was a little girl with short pink hair and a white bear hat.
"Hey, are you okay?" Giorgio asked, bending down slightly to meet the girl’s gaze.
The girl blinked up at him "I’m fine, I’m fine! I’m not the one who almost knocked me over!" she said, placing her hands on her hips as she stood up.
GIorgio kneels down to the little girl "Are you lost? Do you know where your parents are?" Giorgio asked the little girl "I'm not lost! I just haven't found my cousin yet!"
"Do you need some help looking for your cousin?" the little girl nodded "I'd appreciate it!"
The detective stands up "Alright little girl, tell me the name of your cousin and what she looks like"
"Her name is Albie and she looks like Princess Almond Blossom but with curly hair" said the little girl.
"Huh... Does Princess Almond Blossom have blue or green eyes?" He turns to Sousuke "なぜ俺を見るの?彼女が誰だか知らない (Why are you looking at me? I don't know who she is)"
"Ah... Well then- Wait where did she go?" the little girl disappeared "There! " Sousuke points at the little girl going to the candy shop at the second floor "How did she get there so fast!?"
"Outta my way!" the two men shove through the large crowd as they ran into the candy shop.
"Excuse me sir! Have you seen a little girl with pink hair and a white bear hat?" The detective asked the cashier staff.
"Are you her dad? Cause your daughter left the store with our most expensive cupcake just a minute ago."
"盗んだなんて言わないでよ!(Don't tell me she stole it!)" Sousuke panicked, the cashier staff looked at him in confusion "He wants to know if she stole the cupcake or not."
The cashier staff shook their head "Oh no, your daughter has been very good, I don't know why she'd spend all of her allowance that you gave her though."
"Have you at least seen where she went?" Giorgio asked "No, I'm sorry sir."
"I see, thank you," the two men walk out of the store, the detective sighs.
He puts his hands through his pockets, but makes a realization as he doesn't feel anything in his pockets.
He falls onto his knees, the little girl stole his wallet.

How to add music to an IPod
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IMPORTANT NOTE!!: This is just a tutorial for Windows. I believe this is no longer able to be done on Mac since apple has gotten rid of itunes. I might be wrong though!
Adding music to an iPod might seem a bit confusing, if you found your old iPod or just bought a used one, it’s really a piece of cake!
Step 1: The first step is picking out the song you want to add to your ipod. I find my songs on youtube! Copy the link to whatever song you picked out. (Hit share and copy link in the video description)
Step 2: Now, you want to grab the link and place it into a link-> Mp3 converter. This is a crucial step because if you don’t do this you won’t be able to upload anything to itunes. Sites such as Okmusi and Cobalt work great.
Step 3: This step isn’t entirely necessary but I recommend creating a folder to store these mp3 files in your files app just to make later steps easier. I named my folder music so I know where to find the files.
Step 4: Now that you have this mp3 file for whatever song you have chosen. You need to download itunes. This is a easy step, just go on your browser and go to the itunes website and follow the steps to download. You will need to set up an account but this takes two seconds to do so don’t worry.
Step 5: Now that you have downloaded itunes, you need to add your ipod to the devices tab. This step is also quite easy. All you have to do is plug in your ipod to your computer or laptop. To do this you have to use the cable your ipod came with (the same one you use to charge it). Then if you go to the devices tab under “file” your ipod should show right up! This is because of the sync you have made with the cable. As long as you have the ipod plugged in and the itunes app opened, you will see a large section named “ipod” on the left side of your screen.
Step 6: Alrighty! Now you are ready to add your music, finally I know. So what you have to do now is go back to the file tab but this time hit “add to folder” and it will prompt you to choose out of your files, this is where you’re gonna pick the folder you made from the earlier steps. This will add these music files into your unties library.
* you may notice that these new songs in your library have no cover or artist name, this is completely normal. you will need to complete this yourself, though it’s not nescarry for the music to work, it does make it look better on the iPod. You can download the album art online and upload it on the song. you can also type in the artist, song name, and album name manually.
Step 7: Don’t worry we’re almost there! Now what you are going to do is take these new songs in your library and drag them into your iPod(the section on the left side of the screen I mentioned before).
Step 8: MUSIC! To check that you properly uploaded your music to the iPod is by ejecting (remember ejecting your iPod is very important, please don’t just rip the cable out when you’re done. that will cause major damage to your iPod.) You should have your new music on your iPod available.
HAPPY LISTENING.
Disclaimer: This is an overview of the steps to do this. I definitely reccomend reading other information and watching videos on how to do this task. I reccomend youtube videos and tiktoks to help you with this journey!

ok since i've been sharing some piracy stuff i'll talk a bit about how my personal music streaming server is set up. the basic idea is: i either buy my music on bandcamp or download it on soulseek. all of my music is stored on an external hard drive connected to a donated laptop that's next to my house's internet router. this laptop is always on, and runs software that lets me access and stream my any song in my collection to my phone or to other computers. here's the detailed setup:
my home server is an old thinkpad laptop with a broken keyboard that was donated to me by a friend. it runs yunohost, a linux distribution that makes it simpler to reuse old computers as servers in this way: it gives you a nice control panel to install and manage all kinds of apps you might want to run on your home server, + it handles the security part by having a user login page & helping you install an https certificate with letsencrypt.
Tumblr media
***
to stream my music collection, i use navidrome. this software is available to install from the yunohost control panel, so it's straightforward to install. what it does is take a folder with all your music and lets you browse and stream it, either via its web interface or through a bunch of apps for android, ios, etc.. it uses the subsonic protocol, so any app that says it works with subsonic should work with navidrome too.
Tumblr media
***
to listen to my music on my phone, i use DSub. It's an app that connects to any server that follows the subsonic API, including navidrome. you just have to give it the address of your home server, and your username and password, and it fetches your music and allows you to stream it. as mentionned previously, there's a bunch of alternative apps for android, ios, etc. so go take a look and make your pick. i've personally also used and enjoyed substreamer in the past. here are screenshots of both:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
to listen to my music on my computer, i use tauon music box. i was a big fan of clementine music player years ago, but it got abandoned, and the replacement (strawberry music player) looks super dated now. tauon is very new to me, so i'm still figuring it out, but it connects to subsonic servers and it looks pretty so it's fitting the bill for me.
Tumblr media
***
to download new music onto my server, i use slskd which is a soulseek client made to run on a web server. soulseek is a peer-to-peer software that's found a niche with music lovers, so for anything you'd want to listen there's a good chance that someone on soulseek has the file and will share it with you. the official soulseek client is available from the website, but i'm using a different software that can run on my server and that i can access anywhere via a webpage, slskd. this way, anytime i want to add music to my collection, i can just go to my server's slskd page, download the files, and they directly go into the folder that's served by navidrome.
slskd does not have a yunohost package, so the trick to make it work on the server is to use yunohost's reverse proxy app, and point it to the http port of slskd 127.0.0.1:5030, with the path /slskd and with forced user authentification. then, run slskd on your server with the --url-base slskd, --no-auth (it breaks otherwise, so it's best to just use yunohost's user auth on the reverse proxy) and --no-https (which has no downsides since the https is given by the reverse proxy anyway)
Tumblr media
***
to keep my music collection organized, i use beets. this is a command line software that checks that all of the tags on your music are correct and puts the file in the correct folder (e.g. artist/album/01 trackname.mp3). it's a pretty complex program with a ton of features and settings, i like it to make sure i don't have two copies of the same album in different folders, and to automatically download the album art and the lyrics to most tracks, etc. i'm currently re-working my config file for beets, but i'd be happy to share if someone is interested.
Tumblr media
that's my little system :) i hope it gives the inspiration to someone to ditch spotify for the new year and start having a personal mp3 collection of their own.

Fuurai
Tumblr media
A long, lllooong time ago, I got to play DnD for the first times.
I am beyond rubbish at rules and numbers and all the stuff you really need to have at least a shadow of a knack for, to enjoy DnD, also I'm a role-player and the DM was much, MUCH more of a roll-player. ...I never took to it. I preferred all the other available options. Still do.
But I did create a character I grew to like. 16-year old Fuurai, short for 風来人 fuuraijin (wanderer; vagabond; capricious person; hobo) which, the character felt, fitted very well. They weren't human, anyway, they were Air Genasi (simplified: half air-djinni). 16 because we started on level 1, and 16 was the youngest you could be according to the rules, and I found the numbers so damn weird in representing skills... I knew and could do more with chance of success, than my character, at that age. (Role-player, again, fluff over crunch I think they call it). The campaign didn't last long, I absolutely did not fit in, but I did get to ask my partner "did you have to make a new character?" every time he got back home after DnD nights, and sometimes he was cheerful and said "no, we survived!"
Like I said... I always preferred other systems, other worlds. Also, when it comes to D20, it's me and Will Wheaton. (In fact, that went for ALL dice rolls for several years; I refused to roll my own rolls because it was so ridiculous).
But I got to reuse Fuurai! Mmmany years later, another partner wanted me to guest-star, with a guide-type character, to help the other PCs in their Quest. I rolled up Fuurai again and got stupid good rolls. My D20 dice "luck" had become merely "you roll bad kind of often, don't you", and I had bought special sparkly Fuurai-coloured dice. I think we played DnD 5E, and Fuurai was a rogue/guide.
Anyway. They took their job as a guide seriously, and I took seriously the fact that I wasn't a regular PC, but a guest. Which was lucky, because when leaving a certain island... the other players left Fuurai behind. They didn't remember until later, "oh shit no we'd never forget!"
"Too late! You all said you don't do retcons, when I joined," said I, and wrote a postlude for myself, about Fuurai being left behind but figuring out how to deal anyway. As they always did, and do.
But, both they and I enjoyed it while it lasted, and another player who is infinitely better than I at artsing, did some fanart. And I did my bloody best at getting that damn armour to look somewhat functional. The pose is a bit wonky, that was mostly intentional, and it looks OH so much better irl, because it is, drumroll please,
watercolour on 300gsm paper
because that is how I do, and I have a curse concerning scanning art, so a friend had to help. It is what it is. The best I could cobble together.
These days, especially after a certain HUGELY famous DnD campaign got one of them on screen, Air Genasi fanart is common online. When I played Fuurai, it was very much not. Evidence: My "Air Genasi" art folder on the computer. I looked at my own art from all that time ago, and I have to say, I still love Fuu's looks. I'll close this long post with a photo of that first drawing. It's probably around 10-15 years between the two. At that time, none of us had any idea there was anything beyond the binary genders. I always knew I, and many characters of mine, didn't fit them, but... Oh well, we live, we learn! In the redo, Fuu was definitely nonbinary. Feminine in looks, but, not female.

Idk how long I've been involved with my YouTube channel, I'll never get over how much art the fandom has made of us. I often get emotional thinking about it
Just saw a mood board Spotify playlist based around d*rkharvest and I've been jamming to it this morning.
Last night i found some fan art a fran™️ (fan turned friend) gave to me in person in my basement while cleaning up old boxes
Yesterday I stumbled upon a folder on my computer where i saved as much fan art as i could find during covid to make me feel better
My life is so strange in a good way 🌸
Edit:sorry for being sappy i just feel very grateful today

Ms Calliye I just found your old art on the R34 site how do you feel about this accomplishment *hint hint nudge nudge*😁
Yeah I know lol. It was the main reason I was okay in deleting the folder of old ugly ns/fw art from my computer. At least it’s uploaded somewhere for others to enjoy if wanted, I just don’t want to look at the stuff again lol

I've been sorting the massive amount of files I've carted over from computer to computer over the last ... uh, 15 years or so (already cleared out about 12 GB through duplicates alone!).
I just found a folder full of photos of golden age movie stars for my Silm Old Hollywood fancast I was doing yeaaaars ago, including the Valar I'd already cast (where I stopped) but also some that I'd selected for other characters (e.g. a bunch of Hedy Lamarr for Lúthien).
Lots of family photos of my cousins etc.
Austen fanart and some vids I'd downloaded! I'm kind of amused because I had made a modern AU Darcy/Emma icon for nefarious purposes, haha.
And there's a ton of fantasy art from Elfwood(!) that I'd downloaded back in my early 20s. I'm not sure all of it even exists on the Internet any more.

So weird how people seem to think you being "Dull" (dude... You handle and rescue birds of prey. You aren't dull) or like negative or something is... Relevant? Like.... Imagine being so utterly, profoundly sad and pathetic that not only do you search out dirt on someone you don't know, you can't handle the fact that there isn't any so you react to finding no dirt by whining about something general.
It's just. Small. Pathetic. Sad, depressing, pathetic people
They could steal my hard drives and it would just be a bit of a disappointment as they just find a folder of silly memes, a folder of reaction images I never remember to use, some screencaps, and a lot of pictures of birds/physiology/medicine/etc. And very old computer games. Like Dino Island.
I don’t engage with or make porn at all, and even if they found who I was in real life and painstakingly hunted down my Facebook or something it would be a lot of wasted effort. I barely use it and when I do it’s just sharing bird content.
I know it’s hard for them to understand the concept that some people just genuinely don’t have anything to hide, but I really don’t. I’m anonymous because people have tried to dox me before and I don’t want my colleagues or work spammed with nonsense about how I’m evil for not liking pedophiles or whatever. I don’t even think I’d get into trouble I just think it’d be annoying. I also get called less slurs if people know less about me.
seriously though, there isn’t anything to find even if you could hack me to find all my dark secrets. My biggest secret you’d find is that I have more art WIPs than I will ever finish and I really like silly little video games.

Wonders From the Archive
I've been digging through old files in my abandoned folders (that start around 2015ish after the great Computer Crash) to find all of the Return to Sender stuff, and there's a lot of... stuff. I mean, everything from screenshots of art long since deleted, order forms, old address labels, tons and tons of unfinished writing, this:
Tumblr media
And a lot of screenshots from the olde live streams I used to do. Good, totally normal stuff like a file named 'Dead Tony's Taco' that opens to this:
Tumblr media
From a whomp art that I don't think I even have anymore. All that's left is Dead Tony's Taco.
Anyway.
I'm finding some truly weird stuff, but I also found some of the files I was looking for. So, I'll start putting together the Return to Sender posts in the coming weeks when I can, but I do have a lot of long, stressful trips to see doctors that refuse to let me do virtual appointments even for the yearly check in where they say: Yep, that medication is mostly working. Bye. So, I'll do my best but it might be more towards the end of the month. Sorry!

Laptop Necromancy
I'm running my whole art portfolio through Glaze. If you don't know, it's a program build by a group of uni students that's won awards and is designed to basically prevent AI libraries from being able to meaningfully "learn" anything from your art. It can be found here for free. It wouldn't run on my actually functional laptop (it tried rendering for 2 days straight and then got to something like "Time remaining: -200 minutes" and still never spat out anything completed). So, while waiting for the seemingly endless rendering to stop and a reply for access to their Web option, I decided to try something a little off the wall.
I ended up taking my largely non-functional old laptop (8+ yr old Dell Latitude i7) I hadn't figured out how to safely dispose of yet and see if I could give it new life. It was a mid-tier "gaming" laptop when I purchased it, though I needed the specs for heavy graphics work for work as an artist and as I was, for a time, still in uni for engineering before switching majors. It currently won't run most of the programs I need for work - it abjectly refuses to open Krita no mater what I do, and throws a fit and crashes with even GIMP sometimes. I even have to be careful with internet browsers now with that one. Its hard drive is pretty toast, hence why I needed to suck it up and get a new laptop. Something is damaged in a way I couldn't make a proper clone of the drive and something's fucked with the BIOS is fucked in a way I couldn't even run a recovery usb and it has no disk drive. It makes frightening noises from frequently trying to run its HDD at 100%. The casing itself is held together with duct tape and spite. This laptop survived several moves and homelessness before finally being too finicky to put up with after wife and I were rehoused. It literally requires support at all times to not be torn further apart by the weight of its own screen. It also needs to be elevated in a way to give the fans a little help. It's a technological senior citizen. Despite the hard drive being largely toast, the OS still works pretty fine. The RAM isn't high as I'd like, but it's not bad, either. It's main draw for this very specific purpose is the dual GPUs. There's a version of Glaze that you can force to run off a GPU instead of the CPU and make it go MUCH, MUCH (from my experience, literally 5-10 times or more faster).
I had a Solid State Drive lying around from when I'd attempted to keep the old laptop alive longer, so I stuck it in my external dock, installed Glaze on it, and filled it up with a folder of art to be Glazed. It then proceeded to take about a day and a half of fussing with graphics drivers - including uninstalling the one the uni students recommended and going back to my old one because the one they recommended was technically compatible but was borking things for some reason, and manually changing settings to force the computer to use the correct beefier GPU for the program. I also had to uninstall a ton of shit that was slowing my computer down and sometimes making it lock up entirely - things I used to need when I used that laptop for normal purposes but no longer needed there (things like Steam, Discord, Grammarly, etc).
So long as I don't run much of anything off of the internal HDD outside a couple Windows Explorer windows for viewing files and Task Manager to keep an eye on hardware status, it mostly stays nice and quiet now other than a few spikes here and there with low % usage. Glaze runs smoothly off the external SSD, the CPU and RAM usage remain pretty stable and manageable during rendering, with the GPU usage only at a little over half the computer's total capability. Despite being bested by much simpler daily usage, this old shell of a laptop now renders a resource-intensive program over in a corner and I can just check it every couple hours to see how it's doing.

I recently found this in an old art folder on my computer for emojis I drew for a now gone discord server. I've always kind of liked the look of this old style I did.

fun fact about me!!! since my old computer died and im using an old, slow, temporary pc, i really dont download any images other than my art, so i can upload it to artfight.
However, i did find a single image funny enough to download, causing me to make a whole folder to contain it to
Tumblr media
That image? well i’ll tell you how i found it first.
On artfight, there is a tag search function, and one fateful night in a vc with friends, we were looking up stupid tags for the shits and giggles. In one of these tags, we found a specific character that we found incredibly funny, and it became an inside joke between our group
since artfight had kicked off, and i was in a vc with those people again, i went to check this person’s profile to see if they were on a team (unfortunately not)
but i noticed they didn’t actually have many defenses. curious, i clicked on the “view all” button to see what the lineup looked like, and lo and behold, the icon of an attack was so funny to us that i literally downloaded it so i could make it an emote in the discord server we were in
it was this.
Tumblr media
i have no fucking idea why i lost my shit so hard at this image. i have no idea who this kid is. but this remains to be the only actual non-art image on this pc now.

I was a weird child, as most of us here on tunglr were weird children. I was on my old computer the other day from when I was a kid, and I was going through my kidpix art folder and I found the funniest fucking thing I made when I was probably12 or 13. I forgor to send it to myself though, so here's a recreation of my pre-teen angst art

Why was I like this, and wby do I love it so much to this day. Makes me wanna get back into making modern art

A rose for the lovely Tarren!! 🌹💌
Hey, Amalia! Hope you're having a lovely day! Thanks for the rose! 💖
Okay, I went digging through my personal folder and found 3 Alfred fics I started, but never got far with and one I don't even REMEMBER and the tags have ME like 👀 and I wrote them! They have less than 1k words so not much to pull from.
One is titled "House of Wayne" and was supposed to be an enemies to lovers (I know, I'm predictable). Reader weasels her way into Wayne Manor to get revenge on Bruce after finding out he's the Batman, believing him to be the cause of the flood and the downward spiral of their life. They bond with Alfred, develop feelings, very slow burn and lots of tension, no smut, but steamy.
The second one is similar, but is reader taking care of Alfred after he leaves the hospital and enter reluctant grumpy old man not taking care of himself and sweet soft reader helping make sure he recovers!
The third has the following tags: mention of blood, mention of gunshot wound, brief mention of near death reader, wounded reader, comfort, confined to a space, age gap and the summary just says something about being stuck in a room with Alfred 😂
Here is a snippet from chapter 1 of "Potential" my David Robey x F!Reader fic that is a long ways off from being published! This is still in the drafting stages!
There is one person you've been talking to for quite some time now. You open the message. Waiting_Watching: Good evening, beautiful Your heart is warm at the greeting. You've become enamored with these exchanges. FlowersForever: Likewise, handsome The person on the other end has never given you a name, but you know he's a guy based only on his word and a fairly blank profile on the site. Other than that, all you know is he's supposedly single and likes art. The two of you just talk; about your day at work, his day doing whatever he does (he's vague about his occupation). You make jokes, he compliments you, and you're just this smiling giddy mess in your chair staring at your computer. It goes on like this for awhile until there's an unexpected message. Waiting_Watching: Phone number? FlowersForever: Why? Waiting_Watching: I just like talking to you. Would love to finally hear your voice. You only have one picture up, the one for your profile and his is blank. There's the fear that you'll answer a call and it'll be some kind of creep and not the charming stranger you've been chatting with. FlowersForever: I don't even know what you look like Waiting_Watching: You will know soon
send me a rose
