Dude dude dude I’ve been reading all the snippets that aren’t on AO3 and because of how they were sent to me I couldn’t reply then (also like- I figured it would be maybe a little annoying to get 12 messages about them when I could send one longer one)
All of them are just so incredibly wonderfully written god I could go on for hours about the deconstruction of every single sentence, but one stood out as a favourite:
“The best seat” for exactly one reason: THE END POEM LINES!!!! Stunning!!!!!! Incredibly spaced and the repetition and the way it repeats the ‘universe loves me more’ theme and OUGH feeling shrimp emotions about these guys, Wels might be a little BITCH but he’s a damn poetic one
Also the delivery ficlet on AO3 (Red and Renbob) MAN those two are so goofy I love them- comedic timing can be hard to get right in writing but the whole paragraph of Renbob speaking with emoticons and the reader (or at least me-) thinking “how is he doing that??” And then immediately Red wonders the same thing? I was cracking up
Also this changes depending on who’s appeared most recently, but my current favourite character is The Hand- he’s just so *close* to Martyn (normal) that you start to forget he’s not until something happens and you go oh. *oh*. And the differences hit you like a knee to the stomach
The whole fic the whole world you’ve made- just absolutely stunning, incredible, for certain it has permanently changed my brain chemistry and I cannot wait to see how it continues and finishes <3333
So like, just so you're aware, when I first received this ask I was stuck on the highway after my tire exploded [literally, it was in ragged tatters when I got to the shoulder]. It was snowing and freezing and the jack slipped off while I was changing the tire [unharmed] and it took the roadside assistance guy 2 hours to get to me after promising "just five more minutes I swear" and "I just passed you I'm coming back around, two minutes," three, four, five goddamn times.
And you know what? This made me smile. It was a smile I desperately needed, sitting on the busy road watching it snow and waiting for literally anyone to help. So thank you for your kindness, and for writing kind words, and for being excited. You have no idea how positive of an impact that had on a truly grueling day.
I'm glad!! You liked the end poem Wels perspective fic. I was writing it to "Put it on Me" by Matt Maeson [recommended to me by countthelions] and I was trying very hard to emulate the feeling of circling and inevitability the song has. There's a very waltz-like meter in the song and it's very very fun to work with.
And! I'm glad the comedy from the Red/Renbob one landed! I mostly use comedy to break tension in fics, so doing a completely upbeat/comedic centered fic had me a little nervous I couldn't land the tone. I am so so stoked you enjoyed it :3
#rns asks#oh dear it cuts off your username on mobile#i will tag as:#fandoms-bandoms#also Martyn [The Hand] is very very fun to write#he is just a little more cutthroat than normal cc Martyn and that makes him a joy#a very fun shifting antag/protag always working in his own best interest#[Red is lucky hes decided Red is in his best interests]#sorry for the hectic ask#im very very tired and cold and sore and am now going to bed#so i can get up tomorrow and move house#and probably take a lot of tylenol#wish me luck

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS S2 BTS VIDEO! :)❤ 🐍😊
David: Good Omens 2 will be once more unto the breach...
Michael: The kind of world that Neil and Terry Pratchett created here. It's... it seems to be expanding out into the world in all kinds of unexpected and and truly joyful ways.
Douglas Mackinnon (the directior): If Season one was a comedy about the End of the World, Season Two is a comedy about the beginning of everything else.
Miranda Richardson (demon Shax): The Bromance is continuing.
Doon Mackichan (Archangel Michael): What a cast, is all I can say, incredible, incredible cast.
Liz Carr (angel Saraqael): But of course a script of Good Omens is a whole different thing because anything can happen.
Shelley Con (Prince of Hell Beelzebub): There's always a smirk somewhere around the corner in a Good Omens script.
Quelin Sepulveda (angel Muriel): I had no idea what to expect, where this character was gonna go...
Liz: I feel quite honored that when they were thinking of the realms of sarcasm they thought of me.
Gloria Obianyo (angel Uriel): Seven-year-old me is like, 'Oh my God! This is the stuff of dreams!'
Maggie Service (human Maggie): A whole Fantastical Universe of joy that we just get to playing and you'll get to watch.
Tim Downie (Mr Brown): I am immeasurably, immeasurably excited.
Jon Hamm (Archangel Gabriel / Jim): You know I was very pleased when when I was brought back to be a part of that story.
Neil Gaiman: Ppeople are excited and I'm working so hard to tell them absolutely nothing. I'm very lucky because Michael Sheen and David Tennant love Crowley and Aziraphale. I think the first moment that I saw David and Michael acting together... all of a sudden there was Crowley and there was Aziraphale, it was like seeing two friends who I hadn't seen for years.
David: There's something about the way Neil sees the mundane that is extraordinary and there's something about the way things filter through his imagination and of course in this world it also sprinkled with the imagination of Terry Pratchett and those two together created this cocktail that is it's unlike anything you've seen anywhere else and yet it feels utterly familiar.
Michael: And they both have a sense of the absurdity of what it is to be a human.
Rob Wilkins: When you've got David and Michael in front of the camera David and Michael evaporate and you have Crowley in Aziraphale and that relationship it needed it needed interrogating more and of course we all know that Terry and Neil had conversations about what the sequel would be and Neil has taken that and he's blown it up in a way that the viewers are just going to love so what would Terry think? Terry would pat Neil on the back and he would push Good Omens forward, he would break a bottle of champagne over its bows and be absolutely delighted and I know that, I'm the one person on Earth who's been entrusted to know that for certain and I promise you Terry would be absolutely delighted.
David: We've got some cast members coming back, returning but playing different parts which is a lovely little addition to things isn't it, so Miranda Richardson is back not playing the same role as Season One, she's now Shax, my replacement - Crowley's replacement on Earth.
Neil: Shelley Conn came in as Beelzebub and it feels in a weird way kind of like a Doctor Who Regeneration. We have a new demon called Furfur played by Rheece Shearsmith who was our Shakespeare in Season One.
David: Nina and Maggie were two of the Sisters in Season One, The nunnery of Doom, and now they are two characters imaginatively called Nina and Maggie.
Maggie: In season one really it was just me and the nuns, it was the nun gang, so to actually get to meet Aziraphale and Crowley... I hadn't been prepared for how delightful Aziraphale is.
Neil: Season Two begins about threem four years after the events of Season One.
Michael: Aziraphale and Crowley now are, you know, out on their own, they're.. they're a team to themselves.
Neil: Everything changes when Aziraphale gets an unexpected visitor.
Michael: A familiar face comes along with a mystery that needs solving and as Aziraphale and Crowley attempt to solve that mystery they realize that there are much more terrifying things ahead than they've had to deal with in the past. That involves having to go back through history as well to get clues as to what might be going on.
David: When we go back into these stories set within Aziraphale and Crowley's personal history there are moments within those stories where where their relationships sort of pivots or develops in some way. Himself and Aziraphale I think rely on each other even more in season two than they did in Season One because they are by necessity and by circumstance they're a they're a double act that nobody else can join.
Michael: It's extraordinary to see how important these characters and this story have become to a lot of people and how much people enjoy expressing themselves through art, through fan fiction.
David: I went to a Comic-Con and the amount of Crowleys and Aziraphales that I saw everywhere, the cosplaying just took off, and always in twos, which was joyous because of course the characters in my mind only exist in relation to each other. They are the Ying and the Yang.
Michael: It's such a... I think it's such a compliment and I think Neil feels the same way as well.
Maggie: Always clever Neil Gaiman, isn't he?
Nina: Yeah yeah, you'd have to sort of admit that at some point, yeah-
Maggie: He's quite good at his job.

Welcome to another round of W2 Tells You What You Should See, where W2 (me) tries to sell you (you) on something you should be watching. Today's choice: 彩香ちゃんは弘子先輩に恋してる / Ayaka-chan wa Hiroko-senpai ni Koishiteru / Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko!
Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko! is a 2024 eight-episode Japanese comedy of errors about what happens when two adorable lesbians continually get in the way of their own relationship.
I think the poster gives a somewhat wrong impression: Hiroko (in black) is not a straight girl horrified that she is being hugged by a lesbian; she is a lesbian horrified that she is being hugged by her crush, whom she perceives to be an oblivious straight girl. But as the title of the show would suggest, Ayaka (in pink) is very much not a straight girl, and is instead a determined young woman with sapphic designs on the hot older woman at her job.
And they are both so, so stupid about it.
The whole wacky, wonderful series will take up a mere three hours and twelve minutes of your life, so here, as was the case with Otoko Meshi, is a correspondingly quick list of five reasons to watch it.
1. Clueless Lesbian 4 Clueless Lesbian
Have you ever seen someone have a crush and proceed to be normal about it? Well, you won't find that here. Ayaka is going to con this beautiful, competent woman into topping her if she has to kill everyone in this office to do it.
Hiroko refuses to believe that Ayaka might actually mean what she's saying, choosing instead to believe that Ayaka's actions are pure platonic displays of admiration, even when Ayaka outright says what she's after. Meanwhile, Ayaka simply cannot imagine why her very targeted overtures are always being rebuffed, interpreting Hiroko's continued resistance as a sign that Ayaka is simply not doing a good enough job of seducing her. She's got to up her game, dammit!
If you like the type of business where it takes multiple dates for two women to figure out they are in fact girlfriends, this is for you. Every oblivious lesbian trope in the book is on display here. It's a war of attrition between a woman who feels obligated to say no because she doesn't believe the person asking understands what she's asking for, and a woman who won't take "no" for an answer because she's certain that as soon as she figures out how to ask the question correctly, the answer will be "yes."
And will it be? Well, of course it will, because you know how this genre works. But not before some adorable wlw wackiness ensues!
2. Harold, they're (actually) lesbians
Often in both BL and GL properties, characters are presented as mostly straight with only plot-related same-sex leanings, usually having moments of going, I can't believe I'm falling for a wo|man!
The main lady-loving characters in this show have no trouble believing they're falling for women, because one's been out to herself as a lesbian since she was in middle school, one's just coming to terms with her desire for women but has acknowledged that it probably indicates she's a lesbian, and one honestly just never stopped to consider that being a woman desperately in love with another woman is pretty gosh darn lesbian behavior.
And I like that, you know? As much as I love a good Gay For You plot, I appreciate one that acknowledges that there's a whole very real community out there of people who feel the same way! You are not the only girl in the world who wants to kiss other girls! Lesbians have their own networks, hangouts, stereotypes, relationships, and even aesthetics that are distinctly lesbian. You can find them in real life, and I like it when you can find them in fiction too.
These aren't just straight relationships with incidentally matching genitals. There aren't even any strict butch/femme dynamics or demands that lesbianism equal gender-nonconformity. Sure, Hiroko is slightly more toward the masculine side of the gender slider than most of the other women in the show, but she's definitely not outright masc. While she's real into Ayaka's girly looks, as we see from flashbacks, Hiroko's not what you'd call picky about the gender presentation of her female partners.
They even go to a lesbian bar! The world's tiniest, most brightly lit lesbian bar! A magical place where you can always meet a beautiful red-clad femme, a cute little tomboy, and...
3. That hot bartender
It's like a good fairy granted a lion one wish, and the lion said it wanted to be turned into a beautiful Japanese lesbian, and the good fairy was like, wow, that's such a good wish, I'm going to make sure it turns out really great for you.
We are all the big-titty lesbian in red here.
4. Ayaka's outfits!
A major conceit of the show is that Ayaka, in response to her crush on Hiroko, has given herself a complete makeover, choosing outfits and hairstyles that (accurately) reflect Hiroko's tastes.
Even if you don't like her outfits -- and let's be real, some of them are a bit much for me -- they're still very cute and a lot of fun to see worn.
I do want to note that this isn't just a story about Girl Changes Entire Personality For Boy Girl She Likes. Ayaka's pre-transformation self is severe and almost robotic, and ... well, it doesn't seem to make her particularly happy to be like that. It seems less like her older persona is her "real" personality, and more like it's one that she'd just settled on because she'd been told it's what being an adult means.
There, that's what she used to dress like.
When she decides to change her style, she initially steers way too hard in the other direction, to the point where it feels like she went home and binge-watched fifty romcoms to learn how to be a person. (I'm just saying, if you wanted, you could choose to read Ayaka as an interesting flavor of autistic.) Over the course of the show, though, she gently settles into her new mode, which winds up suiting her so much better! So it's less about the nerdy girl having to leave her nerdy self behind to earn the attention of her crush, and more about how having a crush gives a girl the incentive to stop dressing the same way her parents dressed her in the second grade.
Also very cute: Some elements of her wardrobe get reused! She doesn't just magically wear several whole new things every episode! We see her apartment, and it's not large. She doesn't have room for a million different complete outfits, so she has to mix and match.
So yeah, if you, like Hiroko, like to see a cute girl wearing cute things, this show has just what the lesbian doctor ordered. (It's me, I'm the lesbian doctor.) (No, seriously, I am.)
5. A weirdly thoughtful take on the complexities of queer workplace relationships!
The show knows it can't keep up the absolute lesbian obliviousness the whole time, so feelings start to become clear about halfway through -- at which point the conflict that fuels the drama stops being about mistakenly thinking people are straight, and becomes more about why a lesbian office romance might not be the smartest career move for either of them.
After all, by the time you're in your mid-thirties and you've been working in the same place for over a decade, you're pretty well-established in your position -- but not so much that your job is completely safe from gossip or disapproving looks from your higher-ups. Meanwhile, when you're in your early twenties and just getting started, it won't do you any good to have everyone suspecting any future success is just a result of your sleeping with the (girl)boss.
So the goofy lesbian misunderstandings are fun and funny, but their worries about how dating will affect their jobs are real.
You find out eventually why Hiroko is particularly touchy about workplace relationships, and it's a very good reason! But at the same time the show explains this very good reason, it also points out that Japanese culture is slowly becoming more accepting of out gay people. Ten years can make a pretty big difference! Older generations might still be regressive about open queerness, but there's growing support from the youth.
Like these supportive coworkers! Aren't they precious?
I will admit, I am not the biggest fan of boss/underling romance dynamics. However, that never bothered me in this series, because Hiroko never feels quite like Ayaka's boss. She's Ayaka's sempai, sure, but she feels more like a senior colleague than an actual supervisor -- and Ayaka is 100% the one pursuing her, not the other way around. Still, if the idea of any hierarchy-crossing workplace relationship is an absolute dealbreaker for you ... well, you probably stopped reading this rec several paragraphs ago, so I'm not going to worry about it!
Anyway, don't get me wrong and assume this is something deep and serious about how perceptions of queerness can hinder professional success, because it's not. It's a goofy little comedy with cute outfits and dumb lesbians. But it's also a goofy little comedy that also occasionally makes some smart observations, and I like that about it.
bonus: Of course there's an adorable manga!
And you can read it here! It's a bit wackier and it makes some choices that wouldn't have worked in a live-action drama, but they're quite entertaining on the page. Here's the MangaDex summary:
Soft and bubbly office lady Ayaka is madly in love with her senior at work, Hiroko! Two lovestruck coworkers who both think the other is straight totally crush on each other… popular Twitter artist Sal Jiang’s latest office rom-com!
If anything, it handles Ayaka's transformation better than the show does, because it makes clearer that even after the makeover, she's still as intense and tough to crack as she was before -- around everyone but Hiroko. It even says in so many words that sometimes Ayaka's smiling demeanor is just masking.
The manga also knows a lot better what their job actually is, while the drama is more along the lines of, we work in an office! we do events! we have meetings! we create things for clients! It's basically the same Generic Company, LLC that every character in a modern AU fanfic does endless paperwork at.
Beside that, the series is a pretty darn faithful adaptation of the manga! Three volumes and eight episodes seem to be enough to carry about the same amount of story.
Want to watch the cute lesbians?
Sure you do! And the most reliable place to get them appears to be GagaOOLala, though I've found the whole series uploaded by various people on Dailymotion (here's episode 1 from one account, though you can find others).
It's a laugh-out-loud romp smart enough to know to get in there, tell a cute little bite of a story, and get out before the joke gets old. If you believe in the truth and goodness of lesbian love, treat yourself with this cheerful little romance that's only a slight exaggeration of how oblivious real-life lesbians can be.
Attagirl.

Absolutely horrible (but in a possibly fun if done right) fic idea:
Instead of selling out Marquis identity to New Wave, the henchman in question sells him out to Empire 88 (I think there's a mention somewhere in the text of it being one of his goons who sold him out, could be wrong, but this is a fic, so it could just be a part of the AU).
Now, the text of Worm itself - I don't know if Ward sheds any light on this, or if there's a WoG, but you might, by now, know that I feel quite content to ignore those at my leisure anyway - leaves it ambiguous if Marquis actually killed Iron Rain or not. He could have been trying to subtly reach out to Amelia and lying, or it could have really happened.
Regardless, one assumes Allfather (who would have still been around at the time) isn't a fan of Marquis either way, or the lie wouldn't have been believable at all (if it was indeed a lie). Marquis is a tough customer, but given enough force brought to bear, it's plausible E88 could beat him, though perhaps with casualties.
Marquis is hardly going to just surrender to hand Amelia over to them, so assuming he doesn't successfully grab her and run away, he's probably fighting to the death. He dies, Empire 88 now has this little girl.
They could and certainly might just kill her, but it's possible that Allfather (or maybe Kaisar?) has a much crueler idea: Take little Amelia and indoctrinate her as a Nazi. Allfather's two kids had triggered, so E88 is well aware of second gen triggers and all, so she could also be a useful or powerful parahuman for the Empire later too.
If Iron Rain wasn't killed by Marquis, then it's just a great way to get one last dig in on Marquis - raise his daughter as a minion of his Empire. If Iron Rain was killed by Marquis, well, eye for an eye, a daughter for a daughter doesn't have to mean killing the daughter... can just mean having a new daughter.
Eventually Amy would be pretty successfully indoctrinated, one assumes, and by the time she's a teenager and triggers (could do some alternate power for Shaper, could just give her the same powers) she's a believer in E88's ideals. Ideally, since I'm a fan of Amy and would want to see a story where she eventually breaks away from them, she would eventually have cracks in her beliefs (including the whole 'shit, I'm gay' thing, with a different flavor of self-loathing) and the arc of the fic would involve her leaving E88 and unlearning her racist baggage.
Amy isn't blonde haired blued eyed/etc (not that that has stopped IRL brunettes/etc from being Nazis or Neo Nazis) so that's going to be an issue too but presumably not insurmountable. What her personality would be like - beyond racist - is hard to say. Probably still introverted, and I think we'd have a lot of the same second guessing herself that she has in canon pre-Birdcage, but beyond that, you could take it various ways. Maybe a certain degree of overcompensation because she feels a need to prove herself (I'd imagine whoever raises her in E88, she'd be getting a lot of pressure to be 'worthy' of being a member of E88)
Possible further plot thread ideas:
Sibling relationship (genuine, not one messed up with incest crushes) between Theo and Amy, if Kaisar takes Amy in himself.
Public rivalry with Glory Girl (or whatever Vicky's cape name is in this AU)
Due to comedy of errors type events, she ends up being kidnapped by the Undersiders briefly, or something like that. Being at the Bank (or a similar circumstance) during a robbery could be funny because E88 might not want to get involved publicly or risk outing Amy, and Amy has to keep her powers under wraps too, unmasked (whatever they are)
Various scenes of hating herself for being 'a disgusting dyke' when she notices a female cape being attractive mid-fight or something.
Tattletale exploiting the above (played mostly for laughs)
I do love shipping in my fics, so there are possible ship ideas this fic could have: Taylor/Amy is a classic, Vicky/Amy could be possible (depending on how it was done), but of course, any shipping would really need to wait until after she's made sufficient progress breaking away from E88.

The Gang fights cold war paranoia
Pro
A great short and to the point cold open that immediately flings the viewer into this new time travel setting
Bringing the 60's military and Roddenberry's vision of the future military face to face in this episode is interesting: some things are futuristic and some, by now, have happened (women in the military), some are the same (Kirk's &Christopher's sense of duty)
The balance of silly moments and humour works well with the more serious parts of the episode (Christopher and the crew possibly being stuck, the danger of temporal meddling)
I love that Star Trek roughly correctly predicted two real life Space achievements: the first moon shot being in the 60's on a Wednesday no less, and Christopher's son being part of the first Saturn probe, which in real life launched in 2004 – so roughly around the time his possible son could've been working for NASA
Everyone looks really beautiful in their close ups, once again
I like the change from “actually you contributed nothing” to “shit this guy needs to go back, his son is super important” because even though you yourself might not change the world, a person you influenced (or created) could, and therefore every person is relevant in their own way
The Paranoia and cold war mood is captured really well for a modern audience
The fact that the 60's, highly modern at the time, now feels like a museum to today's viewers just like it does for the crew; At the same time the Enterprise and it's Science Fiction is also old school to us; Old science fiction is always a great window into history also
The original special effects are once again great, the original enterprise is so adorable and beautiful (Video Link)
Kirk flirting with Christopher is its own comedy
Kirk's whole facial journey when Christopher appears
Instead of containment or anything Kirk immediatly shows of his ship and tells him literally everything while still flirting in the lift
That flight suit must be so uncomfortable Captain Christopher, you should totally change into something more comfortable :)
The fact that Christopher is such a straight guy from his time who doesn't clock this at all makes it even funnier, two opposite sites of the sexual tension scale
then Spock swooping in destroying Kirks happy threesome dreams with reality
I mean how else can I interpret Spock's look at Christopher than that of a jealous boyfriend
Spock then sticking around and not leaving Jim and Christopher alone AND casually delivering the sickest “your life was sort of useless” burn
Christopher finding out about his son, the way the others are just as delighted about it as he is and the way he smiles every time it's mentioned is not only sweet but also shows certain things about humanity won't change – the love for our children is something they can bond over despite being centuries apart
Sulu and Kirk solo adventure! Also them working well together! Also just the fact that they casually beam in the middle of a military base and aren't even that sneaky about it
Sulu's large bag is keeping all his secrets
Bones and Spock, flirting their way through Kirk's absence
The entire scene were Kirk and Sulu get discovered is comedy gold: them pretending not to hear the obvious beeping, Spock eyeing the frozen military man up and down, Kirk's absolutely done with this plot reaction, Bones taking the gun and communicator off him in slow motion, it's all so well paced and acted
Us? We are so so innocent and don't know anything :)
The fight scene is so very Trek, but a) just very believable as it's just chaos and limbs b) Kirk reacted so quickly and well to the situation as it was never about winning but about giving Sulu time to escape and c) Sulu reading the situation correctly and doing the right thing
Kirks giving the policemen nothing but cunt and he's such a pretty boy doing it, giving severe I'm beautiful & I don't deserve this vibes
I literally made so many screenshots of kirk being done with what's going on that I made a seperate post
“Oh this little thing? Just something I slipped on” Kirk STOP flirting with the military guys!!!
Con
the entire "Kirks pc is a sexy lady" is just weird, serves no purpose and feels very out of place
The way the situation is solved in the end feels very sudden and fast compared to the rest of the episodes pacing
Counter: Nothing
Quote I made an error in my computations (Spock) Oh? This could be an historic occasion. (Bones)
Moment: It's hard to choose, but the fight itself is so great and classic TOS including Kirk yeeting himself at all three of them
Summary: The classic Sci-Fi time travelling trope done Trek style, with some team shennanigans, including a very "I'm done with life" Kirk trying to flirt with a time traveller, a "I have done nothing wrong in my life, ever" Sulu and some classic TOS fighting. The episode also offers some deep thoughts on the importance of a single person in our society and the dangers of temporal meddling, setting a precedent that will shape future directives for Starfleet and time travel. Comedy Club AU:
Ian and Anthony are co-owners of The Giggle Hut and have a regular stable of stand up comics that come to perform. The au centers around the group of comedians.
Shayne: Has been in the scene for a long time, struggling for his big break. He lets himself get anxious about performing and it at times affects his ability to pull off a joke in his set, but he's charismatic enough that he's popular and people like when he does costumed character impressions such as The Chosen.
Trevor: A new comedian on the scene and instantly a lot of comparisons to Shayne for no real reason except they are both blonde men. Trevor is a hit right away and it sets up a rivalry of sorts between them. Shayne feels insecure because Trevor is younger and popular and isn't having to work as hard to gain an audience. Trevor really looks up to and admires Shayne but feels intimidated to say anything because he feels frostiness from Shayne.
Amanda: Always doing sets as different characters, very popular because you never know exactly what character you're getting. She also does a lot of audience interactions and friendly heckling while in character. She is best friends with Shayne and the two often work together and pair well on nights at the club. Amanda is extremely fond of the absurdist comedian Angela.
Angela: Very off the wall absurdist comedy. She's extremely relatable and audiences eat her up. She makes jokes that appeal to almost everyone and always references fellow comedians in her jokes which often kills because she riffs on what the audience is familiar with. She has a big honking crush on Amanda but feels she is out of her league both comedy wise and romantically.
Chanse: MC at the club and often performs mini-sets as musical improv is more his thing, but he does often do some musical comedy at the club, but is also happy to be hosting. Besties with Angela. He also heckles the crowd in a fond but real way. He also uses his sets to throw mini flirtatious jokes at Shayne and Trevor. He has a crush on both of them.
Spencer: Is not at the Hut as much as the other comics, but he performs and kills on the regular. He does a lot of character work and he references the other comedians. Makes an absurd amount of jokes about being gay when he doesn't say one way or another and gives Chanse a shit ton of material to work with in a set devoted to the reasons why Spencer is probably gay.
Tommy: Bartender at the Giggle Hut. He is insanely funny but doesn't think he could perform on stage and Spencer is begging him to try it out. It gets the point where Spencer gets them to set up a mic for Tommy and they banter during one of Spencer's performances and Tommy has the audience crying in laughter.
Pairings/Dynamics:
Shayne/Trevor?? Rivals to lovers type deal?
Shayne/Chanse? Exploration on Shayne's side, maybe happened before he got with Trevor? After? Same time?
Amangela! Two fools who are certain the other doesn't feel the same even though they are obviously crushing on one another.
Spommy: Supportive Spencer and nervous Tommy and mutual respect and flirtation that turns into an actual relationship
Ianthony: BACKGROUND MARRIED CO-OWNER BOSSES OF THE GIGGLE HUT!!!! "our comedian kids are idiots but i love them."

The good, the bad, and the ineffable omens. What makes Good Omens special.
I'm not very good at making posts on here so sorry if the formatting sucks. It's the anniversary of season two, and thinking back on everything, it's incredible how much has happened since it came out. I might get a bit long-winded, so if that's not your thing, just scroll on by. I'm just gonna take a look at why I love Good Omens, why I love the Good Omens fandom, and what the future holds for all of us who love this story.
I guess you could say I'm a bit of a new fan. I watched the first season in 2019. I liked it but I didn't really think about it until I heard it was getting a second season, and I decided to watch it again.
This second watch came at a very strange time in my life. I'd left my very introverted homeschool life behind to go to an art school in another state. I was studying creative writing, and just beginning to dream that I might be an actual writer someday. I've always gotten intensely invested in stories, a part of my ADHD that I've always struggled with. I find a story, and it consumes my soul. I have difficulty expressing emotions in real life, so stories have been an outlet for me to feel things in the persona of a character. It's this incredible power that makes me love storytelling so much. I could go on and on about the beauty of this, but that will get a bit to much so I'll move on. Mah point is...
whenever I would get really invested in a story, my parents would indulge me, but would always feel the need to mention, "You know it's not real, right?"
Anyway, for the first time, I was away from home and I could really indulge in stories without the pressure to disconnect from it to avoid the judgment of my family. For the first time, I could just be in love with a story.
A lot happened during the first year away from home, not all of which is relevant, but around this time I started owning up to my identity as bisexual. Being at an art school meant I was surrounded by queer people from all backgrounds, not all of them had the same support I did, and I witnessed secondhand as my friends went through the pain of having homophobic families who would control what art they made and who they spent time with, threatening to withdraw them from the school if they used certain names or pronouns. It was common for my friends to have a sort of shorthand code for when it was safe to use their preferred name or pronoun. Some came from very religious households, and so religion had been linked very closely to repression.
Good Omens came at a time when I was stretching my wings both in my identity as a person and as a writer and has informed what I write about ever since. As a writer, my work often focuses on themes such as fate and free will, religion and passion, divinity and humanity, and apocalyptic images. Additionally, Good Omens encouraged me to embrace comedy in my writing and to explore the absurd and whimsical. It helped me let go of the vice that held me back from writing things I thought weren't intellectual enough, or weren't creative enough.
I also became aware of the people behind the show, and of course, I grew to admire Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I admired how Neil Gaiman seemingly defied the inevitable fate of obscure and unsuccessful writers. To me, Neil Gaiman was an example of how writers could actually make it out there in the world. Terry Pratchett, I admit, took less of an interest in because he had been long dead before I became acquainted with Good Omens, and I mistakenly gave Neil Gaiman more credit for the tv show. If you want to know more about why I saw "mistakenly," check out @vidavalor where they talk about the other writers on the show and how much they contributed. It's really quite eye-opening and it gives me hope that the show can continue well enough without Gaimen.
I also grew to become a fan of David Tennent and Micheal Sheen. And when I say a fan of David Tennent, I mean a BIG fan. The Good Omens to Doctor Who pipeline is so f*cking steep I felt like Crowley during the fall. Not just Who, though, I watched stuff like Taking Over the Asylum, Einstein and Eddington, Around the World in 80 Days, Broadchurch, Jessica Jones, Escape Artist, f*king Single Father lol. I even got into Shakespeare because of David Tennent.
The love displayed by the actors for Good Omens feels truly special. Micheal Sheen's devotion to the story shines through in everything he says about it, and David Tennent, though not originally a fan, seems to have grown more and more fond of the story. I think it's not a reach of our imagination to say that the story has become very special to both of them, even more so than to us.
It's rare to see actors treat their roles as more than just a job. The occasional publicity stunt and press tour interviews aside, the roles actors take seldom stick with them, and I think it's a testament to the power of Good Omens that this is not the case for Micheal and David.
Season 2 came out of course, and we all know how that went down. I was has heartbroken as everyone else by the final 15, but I never had any doubt that the story was destined to have a happy ending.
Unlike some shows, where the story likes to flirt with tragedy to keep viewers hooked, Good Omens is not that kind of show. Amidst the pathos and drama of the Christian/Apocalypse setting, with literal heaven and hell involved, the story is relatively clean. I enjoy some Ineffible Husbands spicy fanfiction of course, but I'm glad that Good Omens has remained relatively kid-friendly. Queer themes are so often included only in "adult media," paired with dark themes and often explicit moments making them inaccessible to kids and cementing the idea that Queerness is inherently inappropriate. While Good Omens has the occasional adult reference such as Madam Tracy's side gig as a dominatrix or the 'seamstress,' they are veiled enough to pass. Even the sex scene with Anathama and Newt is comic enough that it can hardly be classified as one. As for heaven and hell, it would be easy to try and stress the darkness of hell through plenty of disturbing subtexts and the brutality of heaven, but here the show errs towards comedy, portraying both sides as corporate systems -- both funny and much more relatable evil than torture or traumatic scenes. It's easier to understand rude co-workers, degrading comments, overbearing bosses and endless paperwork than it is to understand the sources of our perception of good and evil.
Putting Adam Young as the center of the story of season one focuses the entire narrative. At the end of the day, Good Omens is about the ineffable nature of humanity defying all odds (or gods) betting against it. It's a humanist story, showing us that no matter how much the forces of good or evil might like to influence us, whatever we do will up to us.
This theme is constantly referenced, from Crowley's habit of taking credit for anything evil humans do and claiming it was his idea, to Aziraphale's constant assertions that humans are inherently good. It's exemplified by the baby swap disaster, which is a microcosm of this theme. No matter how much the powers above and below might scheme, they're plans generally end up being irrelevant to the choices of humans.
It's why Crowley and Aziraphale love humans so much. Humans are a guide for them, showing them how they can be more than just good and evil, and on our side, it's a hopeful thought to have, that the powers of good and evil looking down on us, instead of judging us, might actually have fallen in love with us along the way. It shows us that we are allowed to love ourselves.
The love that Aziraphale and Crowley have for each other is also at the heart of this story. While it has been discussed at length, it's for good reason. Because we all need a good love story. Amidst the uncertainty and ceaseless change, there is a constant, unbreaking bond between Crowley and Aziraphale-- steady as the revolution of the cosmos. Nothing in the scope of space and time is certain, but this is. We know that because we've seen it. Good Omens manages to create a love story on both a personal and an archetypal scale. On one level, this is a love story between two people from different worlds finding something familiar in each other. It's got the drama of starcrossed love, the steadiness of an age-old love, still with the butterflies of new feelings. As a queer love story, the hope in it is even more important.
Crowley and Aziraphale have all the qualities of two characters that are doomed by the narrative, and as much as I love those types of stories, this is a story about hope and it demands a happy ending. After all, if those two idiots can't get a happy ending, what hope do the rest of us have?
All this is to say, that while the final 15 was shattering emotionally, and still is, I never once doubted that all would be well eventually.
The recent accusations against Neil Gaiman came as a shock to me. I admittedly didn't know all that much about him as a person, but I looked up to him as a writer, as I said. The more that is revealed, the more truthful they become. I hoped that these allegations would end up as a big misunderstanding, and I questioned the timing just after David Tennent was attacked online for his support of the lgbtq community. However, the more information about Gaimen comes to light, the less it looks like a mistake.
This leaves us in a difficult position. It is not selfish to worry about the future of Good Omens. It is not foolish to be surprised. It is not naive to feel betrayed. It would be easy to come to the conclusion that 'no one should be trusted,' or to feel that the whole story has been tainted. It's so easy to write off the whole story as 'ethically complicated' so you don't have to examine your feelings critically. It's easy to 'boycott,' something so you don't have to deal with it, as if by not engaging with it, it's not real. I would urge you not to do this. boycotting a story is not as simple as just refusing to buy a product. Stories are part of culture and identity, to a certain extent, the person you are hurting the most is yourself.
There's a reason I spent so long describing why Good Omens is such an incredibly powerful story, because Neil Gaiman's actions negate none of that. The meaning of Good Omens is not dependent on the actions of the author. A truth is still true, even from the mouth of a liar.
Before I loved Good Omens, I loved Harry Potter. Despite JK Rowling's general shittiness, Harry Potter has brought goodness to people's lives, and even though some themes in the story ought to be examined more critically, the joy and comfort those stories brought also cannot be ignored. I was ten when I started reading Harry Potter. I was too young to grasp the homophonic or anti-semetic undertones in the story, and ironically, Harry Potter taught me to by an ally before I even knew I was queer. Before reading Harry Potter, I didn't know what gay was. After hearing Dumbledore was 'gay,' I did a google search and looked up the term in a dictionary. I remember my thoughts being, "you can do that?" and then, "why are people so upset?"
The point of this Harry Potter tangent is to say that while the intentions of the author may influence a story, the author ultimately can't control the effect the story will have on others. Once it is published, a significant part of it no longer belongs to them. They can't control what messages other people find in it, and they lose the right to decide what messages are true or not. If Neil Gaimen were to say today that Good Omens is all a very complicated metaphor for masturbation, that announcement would mean zilch.
Additionally, Neil Gaiman isn't even the only author! You don't have to give him all that credit to start with. Once again, refer to @vidavalor for info on the other amazing people who may have had a bigger hand in writing our favorite moments that we thought.
The Good Omens fandom has taught me not to be ashamed for loving a fictional story. I've been in the Lotr, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Marvel, Sherlock, and countless other fandoms, and I can easily say that Good Omens is the most supportive, the most accepting, the most decent online fan community I've found.
We can hang in there. We've loved Good Omens since the book came out, we've loved Good Omens since before I was born, and we loved it even when we lost Terry Pratchett. We loved Good Omens when we thought there would never be a show, and when we thought one season was all there would be. Good Omens has so many kind and talented people behind it and so much love for it. Neil Gaimen will not sink us now. He doesn't have that much power.
@davidtennantgenderenvy also has a video on this that is very thoughtful.

I have two best friends.
Which is not an apt description.
Best friends is too small a term to describe what they are to me.
Chosen family. Ride or die. People I would drop everything for if they needed me. People I would protect with my last breath. People who know embarrassing details they will take to the grave.
Now that my mom and dad are gone, they are my lifelong companions. I trust them with my life.
I talk about Katrina all the time. But I tend to keep my friendship with Delling a little more private. I don't love either of them any more or less. There is no ranking system for my besties. But Katrina and I are basically like an old school comedy duo, so we have a lot more shenanigans to share. Shenanigans are easy content for a blog.
Delling is disabled like me. We have a lot of the same consequences from our health issues. Extreme fatigue most of all. Delling was unable to get disability benefits though, so they have to work a 9 to 5 job. And it exhausts them to the limit. They often will work and go straight to bed. If it were possible, I would talk to Delling every single day like I do with Katrina, but circumstances don't always allow for that.
So we have less shenanigans, but the same amount of love.
I'm also a little more protective of Delling at the moment. They are trans and for some reason a large portion of the "very online" people have decided to hate my best friend. And sometimes I worry about drawing attention towards Delling from the few trolls who still hate follow me.
Delling is almost always in my thoughts when I write about trans issues or argue with transphobes on Twitter. But I refuse to invoke "I HAVE A TRANS FRIEND" most of the time. For one, I don't advocate for trans people just because I have a trans friend. Though it does make the emotions I feel very intense sometimes. A lot of tears and anger. But I also don't want to sound like those conservatives who justify everything they say because they have a friend from a marginalized group.
There are certainly times people will be like, "Why would you mutilate someone and cut off healthy breasts??" and I wanna be like "Delling is much happier without boobies and I can see a huge difference since their surgery and you don't know what the fuck you are talking about with that mutilation nonsense. FIGHT ME!"
But I don't think I need to announce my bestie's private top surgery details just to win an argument on Twitter.
I'm just really happy for them and I am glad it helped. They struggled to get the surgery for so long and fought like hell to make it happen. People acting like it is this horrible thing make me so angry. When it finally happened it was... a relief. A weight lifted off their shoulders... err... chest.
After my dad died, Katrina was unable to get away from Florida to help me out. She was dealing with her disabled dog, Lucy, and her end-of-life care. That just isn't something you can ask someone else to look after for a few days. So Delling got permission to do remote work and drove down from the top of the country to help me. They came on the weekend of my dad's service and stayed a few days after to help me get the house sorted.
I'm honestly not sure I could have made it through that experience on my own. During the service, Delling just clung to my side as I tried to act normal when long-lost relatives offered similar grief platitudes over and over. And I kept introducing Delling and saying they were from the wrong state for some reason. I do actually know where Delling lives, but I guess my brain was not functioning in that situation.
Delling also helped me finish my eulogy literally hours before I gave it. And they helped me print out a bunch of photos of my dad that almost no one looked at. I'm so glad we spent all morning frantically doing that. *sigh* Though I'm hoping the photos will come in handy when I do an online memorial for my parents, so it was not all for naught.
There was a moment when a certain someone gave an impromptu speech at the end of the service about how she let my dad see his granddaughter for a couple of hours a year ago and how special that was, and Delling tightly squeezed my hand to help channel away my anger.
Ya know, those totally normal *yearly* visits all grandpas get to have.
Sometimes friends just know, ya know?
Delling and I also revamped the kitchen for my needs, which I have already turned into absolute chaos. And we had a fun shopping trip to Sam's where I bought tender beef jerky that was the toughest to chew jerky I've ever experienced. I guess the "tender" on the label was sarcastic.
All I know is that casually shopping with my friend was this beautiful bonding adventure where we just got to hang out and be together. It's weird the experiences that stick with you. Trying to pick out wholesale sushi with my bestie will be a treasured memory for the rest of my days. And I think that is kinda perfect in its simplicity.
There are not enough thank yous in the world for what Delling did for me. I wish they could have stayed a few months instead of a few days. I miss having them here in person. But they had a foster bunny to take care of and a job and a family. So I had to give Delling back to the top of the country.
I just wanted to write this in appreciation of my other best bestie. I love them more than anything. And I can't tell you all how special it feels to have someone who will drop everything, drive across the country (through tornado weather, no less), and keep you company during a very lonely time.

Darius because YOU! Are his lawyer
This is such a high honor coming from Willow Park's lawyer herself, thank you pal 💖
How do I feel about this character
I love Darius so much he's absolutely one of my top favorites, it's like between him and Eda. He's hilarious, he's cunty, he's interesting, he's one of Dana's favorites, he's a good person but he's a bitch about it, his design fucks, he has no canon love interest, and I wish we got more of him. I have so many thoughts on him and he was only in about 15min of screentime.
What can I say, I looked at all the Coven Heads in the S2B trailer and immediately decided he was my favorite and every time he was on screen I was validated by how thoroughly he passed the vibes check
All the people I ship romantically with this character
I am typically an aroace Darius enjoyer, but I have fondness for dariraine, dariraeda, and darimila (why is he always listed first and why is it fitting (wait I have to preface I'm ace and I use ship names by what sounds best I have literally never done it by "who tops" I can barely remember that's the common use of ship name order SO I'm mocking Darius as he would wanna be listed first because he's That Bitch)) because all of them have a lot of cute fluff potential (and dariraine has fun angst potential especially if it's between Eda's Requiem and O Titan, Where Art Tho)
Typically tho even in those ships I don't see Darius as someone that would live with a romantic partner, I think he'd want to keep his own house lol and he's very valid, it's styled exactly how he likes and no one else lives up to his cleanliness standards, it's win win for both parties
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Darius & Eberwolf is literally Lilith & Hooty a little to the left and it's sooo fucking funny and wholesome for it. Lilith was actually my S2A obsession until she left I was so fucking devastated when she moved out, so seeing Darius & Eberwolf were a similar archetype to Lilith & Hooty really endeared me to them immediately in ER when we knew nothing about them. Then by the series end they really are one of my favorite little duos of toh they're comedy gold potential but didn't get enough screentime 😔 Darius surrendered for Eberwolf even tho it was at the cost of the rebellion and I still think about that scene. Guy who joked about people dying is likely actually not being pragmatic at all when it comes to loved ones 👍 they threaten Terra Adrian & Vitimir lol
I'm also a "Darius & Eda used to be besties and will do so again" truther. They're the same yet opposites, they're both dramatic, they're both powerful, they both have a hot monster form, and they both speedran becoming adoptive parents after just being That Guy to some kid for a while. The ONE episode of interactions they had in COTH with Darius having to exasperatingly tell Eda what he means but also he calls her "Eda" not "Edalyn" like everyone else but Raine does, and Eda mocking Darius over beating his ass in ER and Darius IMMEDIATELY getting defensive & lying which Eberwolf calls him out for, DO YOU SEE MY VISION? THEY USED TO BE BESTIES. THE CLAWTHORNE PARENTS LOVED DARIUS. DARIUS & EDA WERE EACH OTHER'S ASSHOLE FRIEND. THAT FANART OF THEM IN FACIAL MASKS & DOING THEIR NAILS WATCHING DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES IS WHAT THEY WERE.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Liking him at all is still quite unpopular 😔 this fandom sure treats the nonwhite parents a certain way lol. I also don't really like ala//darius, I get the appeal but it doesn't compel me
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
I've had a perfectly envisioned idea for a year or two now of an toh episode that followed the rebel trio after Them's the Breaks, Kid and before Hollow Mind that was a 3 part split reminiscent of how Once Upon A Swap was paced.
Not only would it tie back to the style of OUAS -- a notoriously hated toh episode -- but it would be able to give info in a slow drip by following Raine first, then by the end we see Raine is working with Darius & Eberwolf, then it goes back to the beginning of the day through Eberwolf's POV, then Darius' POV, and ending on the buildup that they're the rebels Hunter is chasing at the beginning of HM.
We as the audience can tell by the designs who they were in HM (or well. Most of us. Some people thought Darius was Alador for some reason) but ahhh think of the extra foreshadowing that could've been in HM if we got an episode inside the castle so close to the day of unity!! Like what if Collector's shadow was visible at one point behind one or all of the rebels, letting us know Belos knew exactly who they were which lead to the foreshadowing in HM of the 3 arrows being where Darius, Raine(Eda), & Eberwolf each get put to stand during the day of unity spell in King's Tide BUT ALSO how we don't REALIZE it's referencing them specifically UNTIL KT AIRS. LIKE THE LAYERS IT COULD'VE ADDED.
Also obligatory Darius Hunter moment has to happen here to lead to Darius' reaction in HM upon hearing Hunter was trapped considering their last on screen moment in ASIAS and some people even now can't visualize them interacting in a positive manner 🙄
I do imagine it would be a touch 🤏 angsty. Like in my vision, Darius sees Hunter getting heat from Kikimora over a wild magic book, and it's like she can't really do anything to him over it but she could tell Belos who would be unhappy to hear that and all 3 of them are aware this would be the outcome, and Darius debates for a solid 10 seconds if he should pretend he didn't see them because well as heartless as he knows it sounds it actually benefits him & the rebellion keeping Hunter at arm's length but now that he's spent time with the kid he's like not a bad kid maybe they can convince him to join them?? Before he goes over and like a true actor plays it off that he asked Hunter for the book. Hunter obviously does not play along well as he's not a good actor, so Darius very condescendingly tells Kikimora to leave like "you can read, can't you, Kiki?" And she sputters "yes of course I--" and he just cuts her off "then read the room" while giving her a cold look until she awkwardly and angrily leaves. Like absolute cunt behavior from Darius but it's hilarious and it works to his cover as a CH. He gives Hunter the book back when Kikimora leaves and they good naturedly mock the other's taste in books ("I don't know how you can read that, Deadwarian era writing is dreadful to slog through" "Well some of us like reading more than fashion magazines") before they pass the mess hall and Darius asks Hunter if he's eaten, "Y-yes!", Flapjack is not standing for such lies and pecks him from under his cloak, which Darius knows is Flapjack so he laughs and tells Hunter to eat, Hunter pauses before he tries to genuinely thank Darius for defending him earlier, and then well shit remember how it's better for the rebellion if Darius keeps Hunter at arm's length maybe he needs to remember the bigger picture? He was literally doing rebel work when he got distracted helping Hunter out, so he kinda gently tells Hunter not to expect he can always go save him, and because Hunter's an abused teen (not that Darius really knows that yet) and he was enjoying having an adult that's nice to him now he visibly deflates before quickly excusing himself
Darius apologizes under his breath because he doesn't enjoy being mean to Hunter (even back when he was being mean to him) but it's one of those hard choices he makes like how Raine refused to get Eda involved. Can be miserably tied back to how Hunter ends up hiding at Hexside and not the rebels finding & helping him.
Wow I went insane typing that all but yeah that's my vision of what I would add to canon if I could add 1 episode into the show that doesn't change anything at all it only adds character filler & foreshadowing potential. Maybe I'll actually write this fic one day haha.
Another thing I kinda wish canon would've done was overtly state Darius adopted Hunter because like it's clearly implied but a lot of people still deny it! Dadrius won guys let us have this they had to cut so much stuff from the show including Darius backstory
From this ask!
#I hope this is readable I went insane haha#defending my client in court by ranting about why I love him but not in a particularly articulate manner#darius deamonne#thanks for asking!#I think about that episode idea still from time to time. it used to plague me. could you imagine the extra terra toxicity we could've gotte#having a ~7-10min focus on how raine deals with being stuck under her supervision?#eberwolf could've been fleshed out in some capacity. darius & hunter moment before things get Really Bad for hunter#what extra details could've been foreshadowed for HM & KT!!!!!

Michael wants to comfort Alex.
***
Alex wasn’t the comfort-seeking type. Michael knew that and was trying very hard to accept it, to accept that there were certain parts about Alex that were untouchable, that he couldn’t have.
Not that Alex didn’t curl into Michael after having woken up from a nightmare, or that he didn’t cling to his waist when he’d been having a particularly bad day, but there were instances, very small ones, when Alex didn’t seem to think the grief was bad enough to warrant comfort, and those were the instances that Michael tried to hold on the tightest.
“I’m tearing up over a movie,” Alex chuckled hoarsely, sniffling and wiping his eyes with the back of his hand as the credits for Red, White & Royal Blue rolled. “I don’t need a hug.”
“That’s true, that’s true,” Michael tried to sound mature and reasonable about it until he grit his teeth and confessed, “but I can’t stand it.”
Alex laughed fully at that, his face red, a stray tear slipping down his cheek. Michael brushed it away with his thumb and kissed the trail it had left away. “Guerin, I’m not, like, sad sad.”
“You’re crying!”
“Because I love it so much!” Alex took his face in his hands, forcing him to stop his caretaking, and planting a hard, chaste kiss on his lips. “Stop worrying. I’m fine, I’m great. What’s better than crying because you love something so much?”
“Not crying?” he grumbled, clutching fistfuls of Alex’s shirt at his waist. “It would be so bad if you just let me hold you when it happened.”
“I don’t need you to,” Alex’s smile softened, like Michael was the cutest man in the world. He kissed Michael’s lips again, the corner of his mouth, his cheek, and returned to the screen just in time to see the end credit scene.
Michael sighed and rested his chin on Alex’s shoulder. “Can’t you just let me hug you?”
Alex’s smile widened, and he nuzzled Michael’s nose. “I’m never going to say no to a hug from you, pretty cowboy. It’ll just be more for your sake than mine.”
Planting a brief kiss on Michael’s pouty mouth, Alex stood and announced he was going to make dinner. Michael glared after him, trying to burn holes into his back that did nothing but make Alex laugh harder.
The moment Michael had been waiting for came weeks later. Alex was winding down after a long day by reading in their bedroom, a small pleasure he was allowing himself and which Michael, despite missing his company for an hour or two every day, encouraged.
Michael himself was watching TV, some comedy playing while he wore nothing but sweats, an arm folded behind his head, when he heard their bedroom door open. Alex, who usually liked to read beside Michael on the couch, had wanted to finish this particular book alone. When he emerged, face tear-streaked and sniffling, shuddering with the force of his sobs, Michael understood why.
“What the hell –” he started, about to stand when he caught sight of the book Alex was holding. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
“I finished it,” Alex tried, voice constricted with his cries. Before Michael could ask what could’ve happened in a book that had his baby breaking apart like this, Alex set the book on the coffee table and wordlessly climbed onto the couch and curled up beside Michael, head on his lap and hugging Michael’s leg as he turned his face into Michael’s sweats, and truly sobbed his heart out.
“Oh my God,” Michael mouthed, gaping, but at the same time, as he ran a hand down Alex’s arm, his other hand in his hair, he couldn’t help but be touched that Alex wanted his comfort now, for nothing more than a book.
“I don’t know how to feel,” Alex whimpered, and Michael pressed his lips together to refrain from giggling. Now he understood why Alex had been so fond of his own worrying, why he’d acted like Michael was the cutest thing ever. In this moment, when his sweet-hearted love was shattering on his lap and clinging to Michael’s thigh like it was the world’s softest pillow, he couldn’t help but relate.
***
Guess what I'm reading now? 🥲
Happy malex Monday ❤️

For the fic writer ask?
🥭🍐🍇
From this ask game.
🥭 Rank from most enjoyable/fun to write to least: Fluff, Smut, Angst, Crack.
Angst, fluff, smut, crack. Crack is hard because I don't know how to do humor. And the humor I do occasionally write doesn't fit the crack-vibe. Smut... Becomes kind of one-note after awhile, for me. Fluff is a delight. They DESERVE to be happy and I will write all those warm fuzzy feels that may not be entirely in character but gosh darn it, the blorbos deserve them!!! And angst... Ah, angst, my wheelhouse. They're already suffering in canon. I will make it worse, I will drag it out for thousands of words... And I'm good at it. Definitely the easiest, and the most fun.
🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a bad characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…
I wouldn't say hate. If I hate something I tend to dissociate from it. Like, I won't watch Star Trek Generations at all. Never seen it. Trekkies know why, probably. If I didn't see it happen, it never happened! (I still don't hate it - can't hate something I haven't seen.) Or Soul Eater NOT, again don't hate, but hate certain choices so I just...dissociate and disavow. Especially when it heavily contradicts established canon, it's easy to disavow. But if I'm just mildly annoyed by something, or frustrated, I'll write like...missing scenes. Things that answer the unanswered questions or clear up confusion. Or when a thing ends too soon, I may write a missing scene thing that fleshes out more of the details and emotions. But as a canon purist I never change things. Now, if we wanna be specific about a specific canon... Honestly, nothing is leaping out? Just that missing scene/fleshing out details, thing.............. WAIT. I've got one. In the Soul Eater manga. Maka should have hugged Spirit. Like. I get that the author needed to wrap things up fast, and comedy is a good way to do it. But.... That...... What the author did there. That was wrong. Which makes me think of the Soul Eater anime. A specific thing I would have changed is, all of Crona's lines in the final scene in the Death Room should have been spoken by Spirit (and changed to make more sense). Honestly, that part makes me cringe. It ruins the final episode for me. I won't keep going about it because it'll make me upset, but yeah.
🍇 Is there a particular scene/episode/book/etc that you want to just write a million fics about, over and over? Which one?
Well............... I've technically written over 200 fanfics about Drakken/Shego in Kim Possible. Just....those two. Aaaaaaahhhhh yesssssss making a villain romance work. That hits the spot. Like. How many love confession fics can I write? A lot, apparently. In Soul Eater, basically any moment Stein and Spirit are together onscreen I want to write about. 😅 Same in the manga. I'm not obsessed, I swear-- Other fandoms... I do have those moments but they aren't leapint out at me right now. If I think of them I'll edit this post to include them. Was trying to think of Star Trek and Sherlock Holmes (book and TV) canons. Hmm...
Thanks for the ask!!

Things I love ❤ or I hate 💔 in Powerpuff girls fanfics
Important, this is completely written with my personal preferences and individual taste, is not meant to attack anyone so remember: If you love what I hate is ok and if you hate what I love is ok too. Let's respect each other's individual preferences in fanfics and characters 🫂, also I admit some things that I might dislike are justified to happen depending of the gender of the story whether is dark, or just a bit serious but with comedy, slice of life... Or if the author simply wants to change some aspects of the characters and be creative, no one is obligated to indulge my preferences. (By the way this things could be something I have read so many times in lots of fanfics or it could be something I only read once, either way they're going to the list) :
Bubbles reaching a point she snaps and becomes hardcore and maybe a bit sadist. Love it, the trope of being the cutest🥰 character until you get crossed 🤬 is one of my favorites, all cuteness has its dark side😈. I love part of Bubbles point in fight is being dismissed by villains only to make them strongly regret it later.
Professor Utonium being an overprotective dad and intimidating to the RRB. Hate it, more like hating it is more like if you exaggerate with his overprotection is annoying 😑😑 and the situation where he is able to intimidate the RRB is just hilariously ridiculous and impossible to me🤪😬... Like if he can intimidate the boys what are the girls for in the first place why do they need them then? 🤷♀️ It doesn't make sense, also the Professor is a very sweet accepting person and also he has some sense of guilt towards Mojo Jojo who is the responsable of the RRBs, he would probably want to help them going to the right path rather than trying to antagonize them being an "intimidating" Dad.
Bubbles being a weak pushover who is constantly compared to her sisters and needs another character help to get stronger because otherwise she is useless. Hate it, as if she was less than her sisters, I just can't take it if she gets dismissed or bullied and she just accepts it and somebody else has to defend her 😤😤(not in all escenarios thought, I mean certain situations specifically). Bubbles is sensitive but she has a temper, she won't take bullying just like that, she can fight her two sisters at the same time and they never hesitate to call for her help if they are overpowered. There's a fanfic where they have to give up some classes to watch over the boys and Bubbles got the worst part having to give up something she loves, Blossom not bad intentioned but still thoughtless and insensitive says that because of her good grades and Buttercup being a sport star they give prestige to the school unlike her🤡🤡 and Bubbles just accepts this, she never speaks up against this or complains! 🤬🤬What she renounced to caused other students to bully her and she still doesn't stands up for herself, she doesn't even tell her sisters and someone else has to defend her WTF, excuse me?🤬🤬 Nope. Or other fic where she and Butch have a relationship and the whole premise is how useless she is in battle, being compared to Buttercup all the time and needing Butch to teach her how to fight... HELLO??? NOPE.🙅♀️
Butch's multiple nicknames for Buttercup. Love it, honestly Buttercup has the biggest amount of nicknames, mostly given by Butch : Butters, Butterfly (they could name their daughter that), Butt-Cup, Butterbitch, Butterbabe, Bitterbitch, Butterbutt... lol 🤣🤣🤣
Buttercup being the sister with the most experience in love. Love it, seriously I just love the irony and contrast of the puff that was the most grossed out about romance and kissing, the known toughest fighter being actually the first one having deep serious romantic feelings and relationships and being first experiencing heartbreak. 😭😭😭
The Blues always having the easiest love story or starting a general RRB-PPG story with them already in love. Hate it, seriously whether you chose to make Boomer a jerk or a super sweet guy you shouldn't make that easy a relationship, I mean where is the good juice? This two get lovey dovey two fast and easy like they can't have a decent funny banter like their siblings!? 😫Trust me they can and they should otherwise is too boring. I specially dislike it when at the beginning of the story they are already in love or even in a relationship, where is the juicy process?? 😐
The greens starting with violence a lot of banter only to become bros, (yes, Buttercup is a Bro) and besties and eventually falling in love and taking a long time to accept it. Love it, oh boy I LOVE it, the only time I like a slow burn is when the characters are like this, the greens are just so entertaining,👌👌 so aggressively in denial and it can get so deep a wholesome! My favorite is in that fanfic where he actually starts obsessingly lusting over Blossom in such exaggerated way that when he starts to fall for Buttercup it created a marvelous deep contrast between the shallow attraction and the hopeless deep feelings of love and is just so beautifully written (even though the reds are terrible and the blues are bland in that fic) , seriously you can feel hard the difference of how he sees the beauty of Buttercup in the simplest and most meaningful way full of feeling😭💗 compared to his constant obsessed shallow remarks towards Blossom's "hotness". It was just too good, I don't know if I ever going to read another fic with the Greens being that good again. 🥺💚💚
Bubbles being the one with the most emotional intelligence. Love it, is just the best when characters around her are used to her being slow thinking and having her head in the clouds to suddenly realize that she picks up instantly others people feelings and understands them perfectly. After all Blossom is the mind 🧠, Buttercup is the body 💪and Bubbles is the heart 🫀of the group.
Butch getting a kick out of fighting Buttercup. Love it, a classic Butch being a masochist per usual, never gets old. 👊😂😂
Boomer being a clumsy macho tsundere. Love it, I'm weak with tsundere characters and I think it fits him, he trying to act all macho but ending up being super clumsy making Bubbles think he is cute. 🥰
Buttercup being described as someone always dressed with chandals, hoodie and baggy clothes... Ect and specially making her wear that kind of clothes because she is ashamed of her femenine attributes. Hate it, because I don't see Buttercup as that kind of tomboy 😕, she would wear skirts or dresses as long as they suit her style (like of course she would hate a princess tutú duh! but denim skirts exist ok) and also I just can't picture her being ashamed of the femininity of her body,😤she is only shy about feelings or intimacy but if she has a worked out body with muscles to show, boobs or not she WILL show off to brag.
Buttercup being popular with girls while being straight. Love it, I like girls fangirling over a good tomboy but I also love that you don't fall in the stereotype of the tomboy having to be the lesbian, lesbians can be also femenine and girly ok?💅💄💋 I also like the jokes about her being a lesbian, because of course if she was actually one then it wouldn't be a joke. 😇😂
Blossom being: too correct, entitled, Mary Sue, cold, party pooper, too serious, too mean, too bossy controlling, too victimitist or sacrificed, too perfect... All this not as a puntual moment in the story but she being like this all the time. Hate it, but ok to be fair is true that Blossom has a lot of attributes that can make characters be obnoxious but I swear she also have other attributes that make up for it and create a good balance: yes she is self-centered, but still caring and supporting to others,😌 yes she is prideful but when her pride is hurt she pouts and that's cute🤭, yes she is bossy but she also knows she doesn't have full control on her sisters and she can be a cool girlboss😎, yes she can be serious...sometimes because mostly she is really silly and likes to have fun🙃🙂, yes she can be all about following the rules but we all know she always ends up breaking them when is convenient to her🤫, she can be selfish or mean but that is not her everyday, she studies a lot but likes comics and video games too... She is a good 3 dimensional character.
Also Blossom being humble and modest like for real not pretending to be. Hate it, she humble?😂 Ja, NOPE. Following my previous statement, she is a bit full of herself despite having insecurities but writers tend to make her modest because loving too much your appearance and brag about it it's seen as a bad thing but there are plenty of pleasant characters that brag a lot about their looks and are lovable like Stella from winx club or Rouge the bat. I like Blossom to be that character that once she notices her beauty gets good reactions she is going to own it and walk through the hall like in a catwalk with her chin up 💅😎(only to more likely crash into a closed door or something because she was so busy enjoying that she didn't pay attention). Trust me, most of the time the excessive modesty ends up being extremely annoying. Example, beach day scene I have read that made me roll my eyes hard: RRB, PPG and some of their school friends, here Blossom is uncharacteristically antisocial and prefers to hide away and read a book while covering herself as much as she can (because of course wearing a swimsuit being attractive is such an indecent thing to do 😑) Instead of playing with her sisters and friends, but at some point she decided to play volley and OMG she uncovered herself and showed her swimsuit!😱 Only to cover herself again fast...😐 Bricks legs wavered like he almost faint... The boys gasp Butch feigns a heart attack blah blah. This was just so meh🙄😬! I would have liked it more if she made a sexy stunt purposely to provoke Brick who is a big jerk here so she could gloat on his reaction without any shame about her body. In fact the opposite when Brick took off his shirt was better and funny, he did it to scape from his brothers who where dragging him and then a horny Buttercup destroyed it to shamelessly look at his abs 🤣🤣(that was a lot funnier than Butch reaction to Blossom) ,I guess is because Brick was only annoyed and grumpy but he wasn't ashamed or uncomfortable with the attractiveness of his body. I'm am being a sexist bitch? Nah, 🤷♀️a girl who is uncomfortable with being pretty(with her specific background) and is a teenager acting like a entitled prudish bitter adult lady at the same time😬 is just not my cup of tea... Not my Blossom, this Blossom gives hard slut-shaming vibes😒.... Ok ok I know I roasted her way too much, but I can't help it! Blossom is supposed to look up to miss Bellum and Wonder Woman and I totally think this one would disapprove them showing legs and Cleaveage 😫 DISHONOR that's something only the garbage Blossom from the Garbage 2016 bullshit reboot would do, don't make your fanfic Blossoms do the same!! 😭😭
The boys playing affectionately even as teens or adults. Love it, people don't give credit enough to this kind of scenes and they are so wholesome, I remember one fanfic that had a chapter where Boomer and Butch became dogs 🐶🐶and Boomer jumps on Brick and they start wrestling and the Butch jumps in too! 🥰And they were having fun I almost never get to read this kind of things because they usually write Brick like too cool, grumpy and wannabe a serious adult for this kind of thing.
Brick being a hot eye candy with so much bad boy aura and his brothers being jealous of that. Love it, ok when its about the girls I hate when there's only one super popular so I have to admit I'm being a bit sexist but i can't help it! the bros being dramatic because they don't get the same reaction as Brick from the fangirls is funny😆😆, they are handsome too 😍but Brick has the best brooding bad boy aura, like I can forget Brick being too much of a jerk if it gets me an emotional sibling conflict,👌👌that way I can dislike him but I can like his brothers development. Brotherly jealousy like this gives good boy drama.
Butch being kind of a pervert or a manwhore. Love it, specifically when is the kind of comical pervert that like in the animes gets bonked or smacked or punched in the face any time he tries to be flirty funny and says something gross. 🤣🤣🤣
Buttercup being a tsundere. Love it, just like with Boomer it fits her, we all now she is shy with sappy stuff, scared of having feelings, being defensive, blushing hard... I'm sure Bubbles thinks her sister is cute when she is like this 😍😍
Bubbles being innocently eager and Boomer being too awkward to handle it. Love it, you know that thing when a boy gets cocky and so sure of himself with a seemingly innocent pure girl and when he finally conquers her unexpectedly she gets forward and eager and suddenly the boy loses the confidence and gets awkward? Oh that's a good juice 😏 🧃
Making Brick doing everything Blossom does but better. Hate it, ok like I already said Blossom is so cultured and good at school because she works hard for it and likes studying😤, of course Brick would be as smart and cunning as her but making him out of the blue a genius that gets just as good or even better grades as her and also be so cultured too while being nonchalant about it is a huge NOPE for me🙄🙄, I accept something like Blossom roasting him because of his grades at school and he getting pissed starts to study to get better grades just to get back at her (making her be impressed, but pissed) 😂😂but I need to see the effort and the reason of motivation!😤 Because I don't see him liking studying and I won't take a genius that achieves that just because. The thing they could have in common I could believe are comics and playing guitar, let brick get turned on with her guitar skills please. 😆
Brick having a breakdown and crying. Love it, normally this guy is always the grumpiest or coldest or the most jerk jackass asshole in fanfics so when he actually has emotions and he displays them, and cries is just so satisfying... Love it. 🫶😃
Blossom being always the one sacrificing herself. Hate it, i see this way too often, writers tend to do it because she is the leader and because she is seen as the big sister (that's another one I hate, they popped to life at the same time there's no big or little sister😤) but I'd like to see the other sisters doing the sacrifice and see how it affects Blossom more often, give leader girl a break.
Blossom's sisters seemly being psychological unable to disobey her orders as if she was indisputable and if they disobey is seen as a terrible or stupid thing to do always. Hate it, sorry but that situation fits better with the RRB given Brick's intimidating nature, Blossom leads hers sisters and can get bossy but her sisters will never obey her if they don't agree with her,💪 they won't blindly do whatever she asks always and she doesn't have the right to forbid things to them, no like they will listen just because.😌 Remember the sisters aren't afraid to call her out, their relationship has a more love and trust nature, with the boys is ok because they probably think family love and trust is for sissies. 🤐
One of the girls being the most popular girl in school without a understandable justification. Hate it, in general I don't like when is only ONE of them because the three girls (aside being literal superheros) have enough traits to have their own individual fans but more importantly I need popularity to have a proper believable reason🧐. For example, PPGZ Bubbles isn't at all what I expected for an anime Bubbles but her popularity with boys at school was at least believable🤔, she was a lady like elegant girl, really kind and friendly with everyone, cheerful and that cares a lot about her appearance and that's exactly what you see in the show, for how simple the anime was you could see that she wasn't popular just because "cute". In contrast there is a fanfic Blossom is said to be top most popular girl in the school and the reasoning is: "she is so hot and has good legs"😬 because she dances (there's like an obsession about her legs) but then she has a really repellent insufferable entitled personality 🤬and is not really nice... I mean she is cold polite but not nice nice ☹️☹️(she is even cold and a bit thoughtless with her sisters in general) and apparently doesn't care too much about her appearance, mostly only worries about showing skin...🙄🙄 Someone like that is the most popular girl? I just don't believe that popularity statement. (By the way, I found weird that she was the only puff with good legs when the other sisters also do activities that can get you nice legs too, like being a cheerleader or playing every fucking school sport, so Buttercup's body is all cut and toned everywhere except her legs? Yeah I know I'm being a picky bitch🤐 about this but you get what I mean?)
Blossom being a funny drama queen. Love it, ohhh I love it,😆😆 she often overreacts over not big deals in the show, so seeing her being dramatic because she didn't get a A+ on every subject, or because she lost her favorite bow, or because she laughed so hard drinking a smoothie the drink came out of her nose🤣🤣 and then suddenly is the end of the world is just the best👌. I mean the other sisters are dramatic as well over silly things too but I think Blossom is funnier. But careful because depending of how is written it can backfire and she could become too victimist. 🙅♀️
Blossom and Bubbles being sassy bitches (the funny kind). Love it, usually is Buttercup the one who gets to give more comebacks and picks up a fight first and also play pranks but the other two usually have good behavior but then there's those precious moments when they are mischievous and get sassy and savage 😂😂 (remember in the show how Blossom messed with Brick in the boys are back in town? 🤣🤣 or there were moments where Bubbles innocently roasted Buttercup 😂?)
One of the RRB or the PPG overdoing the fight and getting all bloody and banged up and the other worried sick. Love it, oh boy I'm addicted to this kind of thing 👌👌 the bloodiest the better, I think the best one I read was one with the greens that ended with them sleeping together in a stretcher in the professor's lab😫😫😫😭 I'm dying! 💘
CPR situations. Love it or hate it depending of how is written, whether is drama or comedy.
Sick day plot. Love it, just like when they get injured, viruses and fevers are also welcome!😆👌 I prefer the boys getting sick over the girls because boys tend to act like soft big babies 🥺and crave attention and comfort🥰 (sometimes without noticing they are doing that and getting embarrassed later...), I'm so weak for this.
Beach or lake or swimming pool plot. Love it, classic anime episode that is always horny comedy. 😎👙
Bunny being alive. Not completely hate it but is just not my cup of tea, Bunny's existence is one of the few angst things I can take and I do love fics where she is mentioned or where she appears as a ghost or spirit... Those are tears I don't mind shed. 😢😢
Mayor character death. Ok, I'm not going to say I hate it... But most of the time I can't take it, like I become irrational and wish for a deux ex Machina🙃 so the dead character is resurrected... I once read two angst fics, in one brick slowly dies from a cancer and in the other buttercup is dead and butch is mourning her in a extremely mentally painful way for me...🥲🥲 I regret so much reading that, it completely destroyed me. Normally is only if is one of the RRB or the PPG that I can't endure it.🥲🥲😭😭
Sex. Love it or hate it depending completely on the writer skills on this matter. 😏
Princess Morebucks being obsessed with Brick. Hate it, like... I know she thought of them as cool and wanted to join forces but I think after how they treat her she must have a forever super grudge against them😬😬, and she probably looks down on men, being crazy about one of the dudes who belittled you and also get to have superpowers you want and don't have is not believable to me🙅♀️, I mean they hurt Princess pride and ego, she is not going to put that behind to pursue Brick, besides is a kind of plot drama that usually is only pointless and annoying soooo... Nope.
The girls being affectionate with each other. Love it, the warm wholesome sisterhood moments are beautiful let's see😫👌🥰, Bubbles sleeping in Blossoms lap, Buttercup accepting Bubbles affection after she did something for her, Blossom crying in Bubbles arms, Buttercup hugging Blossom from behind while she is having a breakdown and one of my favorites was the one that they are teens and sleep in separated beds but because Blossom had trouble sleeping Bubbles joined their beds and later Buttercup joins too! So beautiful! 😫😫👏👏👏
The Ruffs being friends with the Puffs that aren't their love interests. Love it, because they can have interesting relationships, honestly Brick and Bubbles is an underrated friendship, I'll love if she was able to terrify him to defend her sister and boyfriend 🤣🤣👌👌. Butch could ask Bubbles for love advice, Boomer could ask Blossom for help with Homework... Stuff like that 😁.
Girl... That's a lot of text between statements... I'm so sorry 😅😅 who knows if I'll think of more things and make a part two... 😅😅🙃

Ok but theres TWO characters, TWO CHARACTERS, who give me the same fucking vibe.
Damian Wayne and Selwyn Kane
LISTEN- THEY ARE BOTH SELF-LOATHING BLACK HAIRED TEENAGERS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SOMETHING "demon"OR POWERS THROUGH A SIDE OF THE FAMILY.
They both were forced into the roles of soldier/Bodyguard/Assasin/vigilante at a young age, and sure you can argue for damian that it was bound to happen or else he would have risked himself and he already raised as an assasin, same with selwyn, If he wasnt oathed to nick he would have transformed into a full demon he didnt really get a choice and he ddint want to loose his humanity.
SEE:
-Both forced into roles that no chikd should be put through, highly dangerous and/or with high manipulation and torture
-Both didn't get a choice even if they "had " to choose. Damian was already soon of the Bat and he was already raised a ninja, groomed to be heir of both. Selwyn the son of a merlin who since his birth was groomed to become the Kingsmage, who as a child got sent to live with this Family and tasked to protect A community of die/loose his humanity.
-Both have deep trauma and self-loathing.
Like, Damian feels the guilt over the deaths on his shoulders fron when he was a child assasin, thats very deep guilt, mixed with his families treatment him,(not all bad but they could do better), he has very self sacrificial tendencies seeing himself as expendable and preferring others lifes over his own (In a very concerning level of suicidal ideation).
Sel has a similar deal, he deals with a lot of pain and grief from how he treated Bree to his mother abandoning him mixed with the regents and legenborns abuse of him, that and he feeks pain and doesnt show it and he makes choices and sacrifices himself especially due to that guilt.
-Both got them mommy issues
We dont know that much about Sels mother apart from that she can resist turning and she was friends with brees mother, we have few glimpses of her but thats it. We know this, Sel feels deep grief and pain over loosing her, he also is upset that she didn't come back for him, and angry on her behalf cause he can and cant justify her actions.
we have more information about damians mom and we know she loved him and its mutual, but Damian did get dropped off at his father after years, they didnt even meet until certain age for Damian, Damian was also trained since birth and he loves his mom, he cant condone her actions, he cant justify them and it pains him because its still his mom.
-They both are Dry humoured Emotionally constipated Teenager emos.
BOTH their characters are very angsty and dramatic but have a sense of dry humour and comedy.
Like Sometimes its cruel due to being defensive and sometimes its funny saracasm or something just makes them so done. Like Sel after bree told him to say something and he did exactly that, or the jokes they have, same with damian, Like the joke about the crowbar to jason in robin 2021, there he was defensive and trying to get the rise out of someone but it was dry cruel humour, very funny and also their humour is a mix of angst and "Try me bitch" so they will say espontaneous shit thats funny or obvious sarcasm mixed with the joke of "I need therapy" Because thats their mindset (And no Damian wayne is not the feral eight year old brat that cant ever laugh that some people think he is,he is a teenager and has developed well through the comics)
-They are self aware as fuck and idiots.
They can probably go on and say the most concerning shit about their childhood like being raised as an assasin or taken as a child. Selwyn joked about trying to help bree when she needs Just a much therapy than him or even more, and then he jokes saying no one needs more therapy than him, and then theres damian talking/Thinking about his childhood and sometimes realizing how messed up it was, or how it upset him to do certain things.
-They both are dramtic as shit and speak with a fancy air.
Like holy shit (I do too but i read too much) the calling people Full names or fancy titles miced with spite, or the way they speak bejng all "Thine thou shant" dramatic, or how damian Would give a speech to jason to electrocute him dramatically or Sel just being sel edgy.
Anyways theres a lot of similarities and differences but this characters are literally same.
#Damian Wayne#selwyn kane#Legendborn#Batman#Dramatic assholes#I love them your honour but theyre idiots#Black haired emo boys#Also Gives me the vibes of Nico di angelo#Nico di angelo#Zuko#hunter the owl house#Kaz brekker???#Anyways i said what i said#Comics#booklr#dc comics#Robin#bloodmarked#robin 2021

gojo x original character
Chapter 8: Danger
summary: Ai's supposed break from work turns into a frustrating battle with writer's block until a surprising phone call from Geto interrupts her misery. Ai's reluctance gives way to curiosity as she discovers a rare moment of relaxation and connection.
genre: modern AU, slice of life, comedy, eventual romance, eventual smut, some angst
A/N: I really like this chapter, it's because we get to see a little more of Ai as herself rather than just her in work mode. I feel that you don't really know a classmate or a coworker until you see them outside those spaces. Of course, some people are always the same no matter where they are, but there's something kind of special about seeing another side of a person that you might see every day in a new light.
The song for this chapter is Miracle Love by Takeuchi Mariya (remastered by Night Tempo)
READ ON AO3
Officially, Ai’s one-week break had begun. Unofficially, however, it was time to start writing–or at least laying down a foundation. As Ai went over her notes, she quickly realized that she didn't have much to work with. This wasn't surprising, given how difficult it was to get anything out of Gojo, but she didn't expect it to be so bad . She had been sitting at her desk for hours and she just couldn’t get anything that she liked down without wanting to throw her laptop out the window. How could her past self betray her like this?
Just before Ai could decide on whether or not she wanted to wallow in self-pity, her phone rang. It was Geto. If Geto needed something he typically texted, so his calling her made her heart stop. If he was calling to give her bad news, she was going to start drafting her resignation. She would take it as a sign that this assignment was officially cursed.
Ai hesitantly picked up the phone and tried to prepare herself mentally for whatever Geto was going to tell her.
“...Hello?”
“Ai-san, are you busy?”
Much to Ai’s relief, Geto sounded like his usual self. She wondered how he was able to convey such a calm, yet smug tone over the phone.
“No,” Ai felt her phone buzz against her ear. Who was texting her? And why did they send message after message? “Why, did you kill someone?”
Geto scoffed. “No, but I might have to kill a certain six-foot-tall furby if they don’t stop touching my very expensive camera.”
There were some frantic shuffling sounds that Ai could hear in the background, but whatever it was ended just as quickly as it started.
“Satoru and I are grabbing dinner and he insisted I invite you,” Geto explained calmly as if the whole commotion never even happened.
Ai had a confused look on her face as she listened to Geto. “Dinner? Today?”
Were these two not tired of seeing each other day after day? They had just spent a whole week together, but they were acting as if it had been ten years or something. Ai couldn’t imagine spending that much time with anyone. She got exhausted answering work emails some days.
“Yeah? What do you think I meant?” Ai heard snippets of Geto talking to someone quietly in the background but was unable to make out the words.
“I…”
Ai was a planner; if she was going out, she liked to plan it ahead of time. Whenever she met with her friend, Utahime, another writer from Hollow; they would always plan a week or two ahead of time. They would meticulously scour over new restaurants and stores that they could check out that day. It was always hard for the two to coordinate schedules, so scheduling so far out was needed. This suddenness was something that typically came with working with talent, but not during off hours.
Ai pursed her lips in thought. “I need time to mentally prepare…” she muttered.
In her defense, she felt that anyone would need time to mentally prepare before dealing with Geto and Gojo. They weren’t bad people, but Ai doubted she could handle their antics outside of work. With Geto's smart mouth and Gojo being, well, Gojo, she was sure she'd end up fined for being a public nuisance for just being seen with them.
Geto chuckled on the other end of the line. “It’s nothing fancy, just ramen. I'll text you the address.”
Before Ai could answer, Geto hung up. She sighed as she looked at her phone. She had several texts from an unknown number.
03-032XX-XXXX: Ai-chaaaaaan 03-032XX-XXXX : I stole your number from Suguru’s phone 03-032XX-XXXX: I told him to invite you to ramen 03-032XX-XXXX: It's Gojo BTW 03-032XX-XXXX: Ai-chaaaaaan are you ignoring me?????
Ai couldn't help but chuckle as she looked over the messages. What a weirdo. Just as she was about to reply, Gojo sent a picture. It was of him, a perturbed-looking Fushiguro, and Geto looking as relaxed as ever giving a victory sign to the camera.
03-032XX-XXXX: Proof that it's me Ai rolled her eyes and typed out a quick reply. Ai : I'm not getting ramen with you guys. Gojo : Ai-chaaaaaan please :c Ai : No. Gojo : you're making me cry :’((((((
With that Gojo attached another picture of him seemingly crying. She supposed that he couldn’t cry on command because she had to squint to see the one tear that was rolling down his cheek. It was almost refreshing to know that he wasn’t good at everything.
Gojo : If you don't come I'm QUITTING the story
Ai sighed and set her phone down. As much as she was enjoying texting back and forth with Gojo, she was already playing a dangerous game. She really didn't want to blur the lines anymore… but getting dinner with Gojo and Geto could mean more material to work with for the story.
Her phone buzzed a few times and despite the alarm bells going off in her head, she picked up the phone. Gojo had sent several messages and screenshots saying that he told Ijichi that he was quitting the story because Ai-chan was mean. This was followed by even more screenshots of rushed and panicked messages from Ijichi asking what had happened.
Ai groaned and texted Gojo back. While she was at it, she decided to change his contact name as well… mostly to serve as a warning. Hopefully, when her future self saw it, her brain would remember to stop.
Ai : What time? Red Flag Gojo: 9 DON'T BE LATE Red Flag Gojo : I'll tell Ijichi nvm :>
Ai glanced at the clock, realizing it was a little past eight. She quickly looked up the address to the restaurant and she bit her lower lip. She needed to get dressed now so she could run to the train in time to meet those two weirdos. She dashed to the bathroom, splashing her face with some cold water to help her get out of her writer’s fog. After a quick touch-up of makeup, she changed into a casual yet presentable outfit, opting for jeans and a baby blue cropped sweater.
As she hurried out the door, she sent a quick text to Geto, letting him know that she was on her way. She quickly made her way to the train station, her mind still reeling from the unexpected invitation. Despite her initial reluctance, there was a bit of excitement fluttering in her chest that she tried to ignore.
The train ride passed by in a blur, luckily, not too many people were in her train car. Before she knew it, Ai found herself standing in front of the ramen shop, a small smile playing on her lips since she hadn't gotten lost. She checked her phone, and she had a few minutes to spare thankfully.
Sure enough, Ai spotted Gojo, Geto, and a rather smart-looking woman, sitting at a table near the back of the restaurant when she stepped inside. From what Ai could see the mystery woman was wearing long dark brown hair in a low ponytail and sporting a navy turtle neck and dark pants.
Ai was surprised that Geto and Gojo even knew a woman. She began to wonder how much suffering this poor lady must’ve endured thanks to those two menaces.
Gojo’s eyes lit up as he caught sight of Ai and he waved his lanky arm enthusiastically at her. “Ai-chan, you made it,” Gojo called out, his voice carrying across the rather empty restaurant. “You’re on time too, I'm impressed.”
Ai quickly made her way over to the table so Gojo would stop shouting, drawing attention to their little group. “I didn’t want you to quit and give Ijichi-san a heart attack,” she said as she settled into her seat next to the mysterious, but elegant woman.
“Ai-san, this is Ieiri Shoko,” Geto said as he nodded over to the woman that Ai sat down next to. “She went to high school with the both of us.”
Ieiri nodded her head in greeting with a lazy smile on her face. “I’m sorry you have to work with these two.” She gave Ai a sympathetic look.
Ai chuckled and bowed her head slightly in greeting to Ieiri. “It could be worse, I could’ve gone to school with them.”
Ieiri laughed and glanced over at Gojo and Geto. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right.”
Gojo leaned back in his seat, a wide grin on his face. “I don’t know what you two are talking about. I’m truly a gift in every way. You should be thanking me for hanging out with you.”
Ai gave Gojo a skeptical look, while Ieiri just let whatever he said go in one ear and out the other.
“Anyway…Ai, I read your piece on Nobara. It was pretty good.” Ieiri mused as she looked over the menu. “I haven’t watched one episode of Satoru’s show, but it makes me want to.”
Gojo gasped and dramatically clutched his chest. “You haven’t watched my show, Shoko? I thought we were friends.” He feigned offense, but there was a playful look in his eyes.
Ieiri rolled her eyes. “Sorry, I’ve been busy with work. I’ll watch your movie though,” She paused for a moment. “...If you give me a ticket.”
“A traitor and a freeloader.” Gojo tsked as he turned his nose up at her.
“You read my work, Ieiri-san?” Ai asked curiously.
“You don’t have to be so polite. Shoko is fine.” She said as she tucked some of her hair behind her ear. “Satoru has a habit of never shutting up when he’s excited about something.”
Before Ai could ask a follow-up question Gojo butted into the conversation. “ Anyway !” He smiled. “Why don’t you tell Ai-chan what you do, Shoko?”
“I’m a doctor.”
“A doctor?” Ai was in awe of Shoko. “That’s so cool!”
How could such a cool woman be hanging out with clowns like Geto and Gojo?
Unlike the two men sitting across from them, Shoko carried a cool air around her. Her movements were so measured and relaxed in comparison to someone so animated and cartoonish like Gojo and Geto. On top of her elegant aura, Shoko was just beautiful to put it simply. Her pale skin, long dark brown hair, and her large downturned eyes just suited her so nicely. If Ai didn’t know any better she could almost find herself falling in love with someone like Shoko.
Geto leaned over to Gojo with a frown as Ai and Shoko continued to talk. “Has she ever called you cool?”
Gojo pouted as he watched Ai and Shoko continue to ignore his existence. “No…” he sniffled. “She hasn't even told me I’m handsome yet.”
Shoko giggled. “You’re so cute, Ai.”
Ai blushed. “Oh, um, thank you.”
“What about me?” Gojo whined as he leaned over the table forcing himself into Ai’s and Shoko’s view. “I’m cool. I’m cute.”
“Adults are talking, Satoru. Sit down,” Shoko sighed, pushing his face out of the way.
Gojo huffed and sat down in his seat, crossing his arms over his chest like a toddler.
Geto couldn’t help but chuckle. “I hate to interrupt all the fun, but let’s order.”
“Yeah, I’m starving,” Ai agreed, picking up her menu.
After a few minutes of deliberation and recommendations from Shoko, they placed their order with the waiter. This ramen shop was a place that Shoko went to regularly since it was so close to the hospital.
“So, Ai-chan, tell us more about yourself,” Gojo said, leaning forward with a genuine interest in his eyes. “Besides writing about the most amazing man in the universe, what else do you do?”
Ai shrugged and looked down at her lap as she tried to think about what she liked. How was it that whenever someone asked her about herself she was somehow always at a loss for words?
“Well, besides writing, I enjoy reading– mostly fiction…I also like to try out dessert places and go shopping with my friend Utahime.”
“You only have one friend?” Geto cocked his head to the side.
Ai pursed her lips as she thought about it. If she wasn’t working or prepping things for work she didn’t really have much time for herself. Come to think of it, Ai couldn’t even recall the last movie or show she watched that didn’t have to do with some piece she was working on.
“I guess so.” Ai shrugged.
“Sounds like Satoru,” Geto mused.
Ai furrowed her brows as she looked between Geto, Gojo, and Shoko. “I-is Shoko not Gojo’s friend?”
Shoko’s lips quirked up in a small smile. “It’s hard to call us friends when we barely get to see each other anymore.” She glanced Ai’s way and gave her a little wink. “We can be friends though.”
Ai blushed and gave Shoko a small smile. “When was the last time you saw each other?”
“The three of us?” Gojo interjected. He leaned back in his seat as he tried to think about it. “I’d say maybe…” He started to count on his fingers. “Almost three years?”
“Something like that.” Geto nodded in agreement.
Ai frowned at the answer. “Why so long?”
“Well, Suguru abandoned me for Hong Kong to go be artsy or something.” Gojo frowned.
Geto rolled his eyes. “I did not abandon you, I was working, and you FaceTimed me every day. ”
Gojo turned away from Geto with a pout. “I don’t recall that happening...”
“I was on call until only recently,” Shoko explained as she leaned her elbows onto the table, using her hands to prop her head up. “I don’t have the energy to keep up with Gojo, but he makes a point to reach out to me now and then so I’m not completely left out.”
“What about you, Gojo-san?” Ai asked, glancing his way.
Gojo shrugged. “Working. What about you, Ai-chan?”
“Working, too.” Ai frowned at her own response.
Was that all her life was now? Working? It was depressing to even think about it. Had she wasted her youth on work when she could’ve been doing more fun things? Watching Gojo interact with his friends–keeping in constant contact with them despite their busy schedules—made Ai’s heart ache. She couldn’t even remember the last time she saw someone that she went to high school with.
“I think it’s time to play everyone’s favorite game, name all the things you like about Gojo Satoru,” Gojo exclaimed, causing other guests to look over at their table.
There was a brief pause and before anyone could say anything, Shoko let out a small laugh, which caused Geto to smile to himself. Gojo grinned and glanced over to Ai. For a brief moment, there seemed to be a hint of concern on his face that vanished when Ai smiled back at him. Had Gojo created a whole outburst to ease the tension?
“I think I’m gonna pass,” Shoko said. “Your turn, Ai.”
“No comment.” Ai shook her head.
Geto pursed his lips in thought as he looked at Gojo who beamed at him in return. “I like your glasses.”
“That’s not even about me! ” Gojo whined.
As they waited for their food to arrive, the conversation flowed rather effortlessly. Ai found herself relaxing in their company. She hadn’t realized how on edge she was while working with Geto and Gojo while on set. She was so keyed up that it almost felt normal, but now she could feel a shift physically. Her muscles seemed to relax somewhat.
As they chatted and laughed over bowls of steaming ramen, Ai found herself having more fun than she had in a long time. By the time they finished their meal, Ai was almost reluctant to leave. The evening had been unexpectedly enjoyable. They said their goodbyes outside the ramen shop, Shoko and Geto went their separate ways, leaving Gojo and Ai outside.
“She said she was gonna quit...” Gojo sighed as he watched Shoko and Geto walk off, both of them with cigarettes in hand. He shrugged and turned towards Ai, a gentle smile on his pretty face. “Thanks for coming, Ai-chan.”
Ai returned Gojo’s smile, feeling that similar sensation she felt when he tried to teach her how to make shadow puppets. She bit the inside of her cheek, trying her best to distract her from her racing heart. “It was nice.” She looked at the ground. “I didn’t expect to have such a good time.”
Gojo’s smile turned into a boyish grin, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Oh really?”
Rolling her eyes, Ai did her best to stop smiling. “Yes…”
There was a quiet moment between them as they watched the passersby make their way through the city. A small smile spread across Gojo’s face as he watched a young couple walk home. They were holding hands and their soft laughter gave off a sense of carefree joy that was in stark contrast to the otherwise indifferent crowds around them.
“You seem a bit more relaxed,” Gojo said as he stuffed his hands in his pockets. “It’s like you’re a completely different person than the Ai-chan I know.”
Ai shrugged. “Work brings out a serious side of me, I guess.”
Gojo nodded, his smile becoming more relaxed. “Yeah, but I think it wouldn’t hurt to show more of this side. It’s nice.”
“You think so?” Ai tilted her head, studying him curiously. He almost seemed unreal with the way his eyes glittered under the streetlights.
Gojo nodded and looked up at the moon. “Mhm, I feel like I understand you a bit better.”
Ai stared up at Gojo, a bit taken aback by what he said. Maybe she was too rigid when they first met. It made sense, but she felt so stupid that he was bridging the gap for her. She wanted to be annoyed with him for doing her job for her, but she couldn’t. Instead, she felt a warmth spread throughout her chest. It was a strange sensation, one she couldn’t quite place, but felt comforting nonetheless. She glanced up at Gojo, his profile outlined against the night sky, and she couldn’t help but smile.
“Thank you, Satoru,” she said softly.
Gojo’s grin widened, and he reached out gently to ruffle her hair, his touch was light and playful. “No problem, Ai-chan,”
Ai swatted his hand away. She was playing a losing game with Gojo. She knew what she was letting happen was bad, but she liked it so much. She wanted to indulge in the moment just a bit longer.
“You’re so annoying.” Ai pouted at him as she tried to fix her hair. Despite her words, there was a softness in her eyes as she looked at him.
“So I’ve heard.” Gojo grinned unapologetically, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer than necessary.
They stood there for a moment, the night air enveloping them in a comfortable silence.
“Well, um, I’m gonna head home,” Ai said, as she awkwardly pointed in the direction of the train station. “I have to, uh, water my plants?”
“Oh yeah?” Gojo replied, doing his best to hide a chuckle. “Have fun, Ai-chan!”
Ai nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. “You too!”
You too? Ai couldn't help but cringe at herself.
With a final wave, Ai turned and started walking back towards the train station, feeling Gojo’s eyes on her until she disappeared around the corner. As she made her way home, her mind buzzed with thoughts of the evening and the man she had just left behind. She couldn’t deny the flutter of excitement in her chest, but she felt something nagging at her in the back of her mind.
But for now, she pushed those thoughts aside. She wanted to revel in her moment with Gojo just a little while longer. There wasn't any harm in that, right?

I'm curious as to your thoughts on fhsy and how that used horror as opposed to neverafter (I'm pretty you mentioned seeing it?, otherwise, disregard). I also came out of neverafter really unsatisfied with the horror, but felt like brennan was able to pull it off much better in fhsy with the nightmare king, obviously baron, and kalina. Those scenes are the ones I keep coming back to because of how unsettling certain aspects of the nightmare king/kalina worked. Do you think that was a better example of Brennan's horror?
throwing in some good tags from @criticalrolo to answer this all in one go:
#prev tags extremely real and I’d love to read your thoughts on brennans DM style#totally totally agreed that there were a lot of parts of neverafter I liked but the Dense Lore was. NOT the best for a horror season#like. horror is based around the concept of Not Seeing or Understanding the Monster#so having a LOT of Dense Lore felt. WAYYY off base and it all got explained WAY too early on in the season I think
I think the takeaway is that Brennan's style - which is all about Dense Lore, that's his whole deal, have you seen the Make Some Noise where he has a prompt to spin dense lore and he just does it immediately? - is not suited to horror, where you can't have dense lore. Horror I think benefits from having one big convergent reveal. Like...the example that's coming to mind is Get Out, which is horror-comedy and also reveals how little true horror I watch (really more a New Weird kind of girl). There's a lot of unsettling details but they all build up to the one big reveal of "this white family does brain transplants into black people so they can live in their bodies" and it all clicks into place. There's plenty of lore but it's very streamlined whereas Brennan's tends to be convoluted - much more suited to, say, high and heroic fantasy and space opera and more sweeping genres like that.
So Fantasy High Sophomore Year (which I have seen but not since its original airing) works because it's not a horror story. It's pretty wacky, and Kalina and the Nightmare King are a part of a much larger story, so you have plenty of other things to do while that's allowed to simmer throughout. I think the problem with Neverafter is that you need the early reveal of the authors to set up the motivations of the princesses and fairies, but at the same time there's kind of not much else going on so the dense lore just feels like wheel spinning and ends up amounting to very little. It's like...there's a very cool story about the concept of narrative and being inside a story, which is very much my shit* and then also we keep cutting to the inside of a spirit halloween in which someone's reading Grimm's Fairy Tales for two hours at a time. I don't actually know how I'd fix it other than "stop making it horror," is the problem. I think dropping any other trappings of horror and just being fairy tales and having to sit with the knowledge that you are an archetype or a pawn or an avatar or a moral lesson would have been the route and maybe focusing on that instead. Lean in really hard to the vibes of episode 4. This will probably make people who are into gore and whatnot mad but the thing is that like, while I'm not into that I understand the appeal, but I also think that it's never going to be given justice in a primarily auditory medium. Which is the other reason why Kalina works. It's not so much horror as a mystery that happens to be pretty scary.
*total tangent and I would need some time to put together a full list but for if this is also your shit, here's a few personal recommendations that are not just Wikipedia's list of metafictional works or works that are of the correct vibe, even though most of them are in fact on there:
Stranger than Fiction (2006 film)
Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius (Borges short story)
There is an Ursula K. Le Guin short story in which someone is a planetary explorer on a planet that turns out to be the worldbuilding project of a teen boy. I cannot figure out which one it is. I read it in high school, I'll keep looking but anyway just read a lot of Le Guin's short stories. It's good for you.
Black Sails (maybe not metafiction? but also. it's not not metafiction.)
Arcadia by Iain Pears
it's been a hot minute since I read either if on a winters night a traveler or House of Leaves but those definitely did things to my brain in college
Piranesi and Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke aren't explicitly metafiction but they also are very much about narrative. Also they're extremely good.
Sandman by Neil Gaiman
