I don’t want to seem like a hater (because I’m not!)

but… I don’t understand why people write for characters they clearly don’t understand,, let me explain. I mean like they’ll write a fic about a certain character and then when you read it it’s like “[Character name] would NEVER do or say any of this!” Because the writing is heavily out of character it’s like a whole new person just with the characters name and face 😭

And it’s so bad across tumblr too! Can’t find a good Eren fic bc everyone apparently has it in their heads that he’s “from the hood” sells weed, speaks HEAVY aave, and is some sort of gangster.. like what’re we even talking about here?and don’t even get me started on Armin I was so taken aback wdym ARMIN plays basketball and speaks in unnecessary aave?? That boy would NEVER.

lol and i KNOW it’s a modern au but that doesn’t mean he’d be any different? I feel like there’s still ways to keep a person in character despite the fic being about a different AU than what the show they’re from is about.

In my humble unbiased opinion I can see why people would write out of character because even I do just for comfort or self indulgent but the ooc gets to a point where it’s so much.

This problem is so rampant on mainly tumblr i feel like because of 2020. I think the tides shifted that year with covid + quarantine so the every average day person who would probably giggle and laugh at fanfics were now indulging and entering these spaces creating new rules and now we’re here with these out of characters hcs I see a lot.

the ooc characterizing is veryyyy biiiiig in the aot fandom on here I feel like again, because of locals. I’ve noticed and even seen some writers admitted they’ve never even watched aot yet they were writing these men as these huge gangsters when in reality these are guys at war.

I feel like in a modern au it doesn’t explain it either because the thing with aot fics is that I see very dangerous themes they’re playing with like it’s fun but

that’s just my opinionnnnn, my statement on that !

AOT veterans headcanons

Characters: Levi Ackerman, Erwin Smith, Hange Zoe

A/N: Here are my headcanons based on how I percieve them, I have some more for the rest of the characters but I'm posting only three for now because they are longer than expected. (I also have NSFW ones but I'm waiting until I get more comfortable with sharing my thoughts before posting those) Hope you like them and thank you for reading!

Levi Ackerman:

Washes his hands constantly, almost too many times a day.

Would rather fight a titan with an arm tied to his back than do the dishes. The mere thought of soggy leftovers sticking to his hands makes him gag.

Avoids going out to public places because he’s aware of his popularity inside the walls and doesn’t know how to act when he’s the center of attention.

Following the previous topic and contrary to popular beliefs, this man would never reject a gift/letter/trinket given to him by a local. It can be the most random thing but he will always accept them with a small nod, he’s deeply thankful for their blind trust in him.

Yawns and stretches ALL THE TIME, he is known for sleeping as little as 3 or 4 hours per night and while he’s able to go on with his day without problems, this doesn’t mean he isn’t feeling drowsy all the time so he’s almost always letting out quiet yawns and stretching his arms to ease the soreness of his body.

Sneezes a lot when cleaning. It’s not rare at all to hear him sneeze when he’s dusting or sweeping, if someone says “Bless you” to him he’ll quietly mumble a “thanks” before getting back to cleaning.

Has a favorite seat at the dining table and gets grumpy when someone takes that place before him.

Speaking of dinner, this man eats SLOW AS HELL, he’s usually one of the last to finish his meal.

Is constantly thirsty because he refuses to drink anything but tea.

Has memorized everyone’s footsteps and knows who’s coming to his office before they even knock the door.

Cleans and calibrates his ODM gear daily even when he’s not planning on using it.

Doesn’t like to be in new recruit’s trainings because he gets anxious when most of them hurt themselves while getting used to work with the ODM gear.

Trims his hair weekly, most people believe he shapes his haircut and has hairdresser-like skills when in reality all he does is trim it to avoid losing the shape it already has.

Can’t read cursive even if his life depends on it. One time Erwin handed him a memo written in cursive and he got so frustrated because he didn’t understand what it said that he ended up ignoring the memo. Turns out Erwin needed him to turn in some reports earlier than usual and got scolded because of it.

Loves eating fruit. Fruit was considered an ultra luxury item in the underground so when he realized how much fruit he could eat once he was in the scouts, he got obsessed with it.

Whines and complains a lot for a person who’s known to be grumpy and stoic. Ask him to do something he dislikes and you’ll hear a bunch of huffs and puffs before he goes to do it.

Talks with his horse. A lot.

Wanders through the empty halls when he can’t sleep and doesn’t bother to bring a candle to light the path, the cadets now believe there is a ghost haunting the headquarters.

Erwin Smith:

Hums and whistles a lot, he’s always making some kind of noise while signing reports or walking down the halls. You can hear this man before seeing him.

Takes more time than he’s willing to admit in styling his hair every morning. He is a firm believer that appearance matters a lot so he puts a lot of effort on his.

 Has a specific pair of glasses he uses when reading, almost no one knows about it besides Hange who helped him choose the right ones.

Talks in his sleep, it can vary between mumbled nonsense to full on speeches.

Has a journal that is more like a diary because he writes all his thoughts/hopes/fears on it but he’d be damned if someone refers to it as a diary and not a journal.

Is lowkey afraid of insects but plays it cool when he comes across one because he doesn’t want to come out as “weak”.

Snaps his fingers when trying to remember something.

People think he’s a very wise and smart man because it’s very common to find him “deep in thoughts”, truth is he just tends to zone out and disassociates like crazy.

Loves dogs, he’s the biggest dog person in the scouts. Often stops and pets dogs he finds while taking a walk downtown.

Cleans and polishes his shoes every night before going to sleep. Whenever his face gets reflected on the shiny shoe a smile appears on his lips.

Not always but sometimes sneaks out behind the barracks to smoke some cigarettes, tries to hide all evidence afterwards because Levi will start complaining about the awful smell.

Would rather be late to an early meeting than go without shaving, has to shave daily because by the end of the day he already has a shadow beard.

Is well aware of his attractiveness and uses it to his advantage when needed.

Visits his father’s grave every Sunday and spends most of the day there. Sometimes brings a book and reads it out loud.

Smacked his face after trying to see through a clear glass Levi had cleaned earlier, after laughing for several minutes Levi scolded him for dirtying his glass.

His wardrobe is full of neutral-colored clothes, he sucks at matching outfits so goes with the safest options.

Knows very well Levi can’t read cursive so when he’s bored, he scribbles gibberish on a paper and gives it to Levi saying it’s important to get it done by end of day just to get a laugh.

Has relatives living inside the walls who refuse to acknowledge him, some of them even pretend he died the same day his dad did.

Has an ongoing bet with Hange to see who makes Levi laugh the most, so far Erwin is winning by one but only because he accidentally fell from his horse and Levi found it hilarious.

Arm-wrestles with Miche a lot, especially after they had a few beers.

LOVES dancing, this man knows how to dance and isn’t afraid to show it. (Sadly for him he also loves to clap when dancing and this makes everyone laugh)

Hange Zoe:

Is both street-smart and book-smart, is the only person who has beaten Erwin in a chess match and also beaten Levi in a wrestling match.

Almost always has pencils sticking out of their hair, they place them there for a moment and totally forget about them.

Levi restricted them from using fountain pens because they would spill ink and stain everything and everywhere.

The reason why their glasses have straps on is not only because the risk of them falling off is smaller but also because according to them “it makes them look cooler”.

Wanted to join Erwin in giving instructions to Levi written in cursive but since their handwriting wasn’t as good as Erwin’s they opted for giving instructions in riddles, this makes Levi even more furious than the cursive ones.

Just like Levi, Hange takes a long time when eating dinner but the reason for this is not because they eat slow but because they talk a lot. By the end of the meal their food is either cold or soggy.

Tried to bite a titan once just to show them how it felt to be “on the receiving side”.

Their horse has tiny braids on its mane made by them when they were nervous.

Refuses to brush their hair because their ideas may “fall off” if they do it.

Tackled Levi once when they saw an “eerie figure” roaming the headquarters halls and thought it was a new species.

Has read more books than anyone in the scouts, knows a little of almost everything.

Says “wait, what?” at least twice when talking with someone, before that person can repeat themselves, they interrupt with a completely related answer and expect the person to continue speaking as if nothing happened.

Almost all cadets go to them for advice, they take this very seriously and never joke around when listening to their concerns.

Just like Erwin, they have relatives living nearby the headquarters but they’re not interested in one another.

Has a tendency to bite their nails when nervous, all his fingernails are short and bumpy because of it.

Is very quick at math and calculations.

Always carry a pocket notebook with them and writes anything that catches their attention so they can investigate about it later.

LOVES bugs, is always trying to catch them and examinate them. One time they trapped a cockroach and created a full design of an “armored suit” based on them, when Erwin asked where they got the inspiration for it, they just placed the cockroach in Erwin’s desk and Erwin almost fainted on the spot.

Randomly goes to Miche and asks him “what do I smell like?”, Miche stopped participating on their little riddles when Hange decided to put rotting food in their pockets before asking.

All their books have little notes and highlighted parts on them. Sometimes has two or three copies of the same book because their view on certain parts changes over time.

Takes pinky-promises as a legit way of commitment.

→ Text: hello everyone!! I went through my drafts and realized I never got the chance to post this and felt the need to do it (with some editing). I have decided to combine these two requests together to bring out and make a very fluff but some angst headcanons, it was actually interesting for me to do something like this. I did this because they had a similar theme and I wanted it to have a very fluff ending and longer writing for you all since I keep seeing more likes and reblogs in my account so thank you so much to all after all this time! Enjoy it :,)

synopsis: coming from the underground and having to adapt to a new environment is quite challenging for anyone, especially having to deal with people constantly bullying and picking on y/n just because she is different. Y/n is a very determined person and always tries her keep on going. Although, it does get hard on her later and Captain Levi does take notice of that. He usually doesn’t worry a lot about new cadets, but y/n coming from the underground, Levi could relate, and actually feel sympathy towards her. He slowly begins to worry for her more and care for her which leads to him being protective and enjoying being with Y/n....but something happens and Captain Levi does not hold back anymore.

Finally, y/n was free from that damned place. It felt like she was going to be there for the rest of her life but she finally made it out. Apparently, the military needed some more people to join the Survey crops since a lot had left, were injured and many died recently in the last expedition when they rescued Eren the titan shifter from the enemies. 

A lot hesitated, but y/n did not care. She just needed to leave this toxic environment that was draining her each day. But little did she know, the outside world was going to be the biggest challenge she had to face.

“Everyone salute and welcome your new cadets!” Mike Zacharias, the instructor, yelled out across the field that you were pretty sure your eardrums were going to burst. 

“Hey I heard there is someone from the underground that joined the survey crops, is that true?” someone uttered which you overheard as you looked at them. They quickly glanced at you, staring at you deeply with a look of judgment. ‘Yup, this is not welcoming at all.’ Y/n thought as she looked away and started to introduce herself. 

“I’m Y/N L/N, I hope I can keep up with everyone’s pace and learn from you.” Y/n said eagerly, finally it was a new start for her, no more getting bad treatment in the underground, no one being rude to her. She heard a lot about being part of the survey crops, you finally get some respect from people as part of a famous regiment.

“Where did you come from huh?” Someone yelled from the crowd, ‘Huh? why is he asking that, does it really matter where I am coming from?’ Y/n thought as she gave a look of concern and worry. “Um, from....the underground.” As soon as she uttered that, the whole vibe changed and everyone looked at each other.

The squad leader just gave a sigh and left. It seemed like he knew this would be the start of a big problem and did not want to be responsible for it. But, he glanced back at Y/n, “Please....don’t cause any trouble.” Then he finally left.

Y/n was now even more confused. Was there a reason that there would be trouble in the first place? She decided to just let that thought slide since it had no answer and decided to go into her cabin.

Okay, now she gets it. It’s cause she was from the underground and no one was from there and treated them differently. It seemed like any place she went to would never be welcoming. The group of trainers had started to treat her differently, when it was lunch time no one would sit with her, or if she needed advice they would always ignore her or tell her to ‘figure it out’. Y/n had no friends and no one by her side, she accepted that fact but then wondered...Was there something wrong with her maybe? She kept doubting herself now and that was the last thing she wanted.

Although, not everyone was treating her differently. Corporal Levi was their instructor for the use of 3D maneuver gear. Apparently, he is known as the strongest soldier who performed exceptionally well in everything.

Levi was observant, that was not something hard to guess coming from a man who is very much experienced. He noticed the gap between the recruits and...Y/n. He did find that odd and probably thought perhaps she didn’t take a shower.

Well. Yes, he was not treating her differently because Levi actually treats everyone the same! So perhaps Y/n would take that as...fair treatment for once?

“Alright, that’s enough for today.” Just as everyone was ready to go have dinner and relax Levi stood in front of Y/n. “You. I’m gonna need you to stay behind and follow me.”

Okay scratch that ‘fair treatment’. Y/n was wondering now what she had done after following Levi. She noticed then that he was quite muscular from the back and he really...did look quite attractive upfront. Later on, she noticed that she was in his office.

“So what’s the deal with you?”. Hearing that suddenly once he sat down on his chair made Y/n nervous but still stood her ground. “I... dont think I understand, Corporal.” 

“Listen, I need to know what’s going on. Being part of the survey crops means we need to collaborate together, but if there is an issue then I’ll need to hear it, Hm?”

Was he concerned about her perhaps? Y/n then decided to go ahead and tell him about how she was one of the newer recruits that joined coming from the underground and was the reason everyone was giving her that behaviour. Levi was completely off guard, he looked at her with surprise that she herself never seen.

“Okay....I think I get it now. Clearly, there are some shitheads that I need to deal with.” Y/n now was the one who stood off guard. “S-Sir? I didn’t mean to complain or anything!” She was now worried. Scared knowing that maybe now she had done it for herself and made this a bigger problem as it is.

“Don’t worry, just go back for now. I’ll see you in the morning.” He said as he got up and then put his hand gently on her shoulder. “You are....doing a great job. Hang in there.”

And with that, she was left alone in his office, but with a warm feeling, so warm it warmed her heart. He was indeed not what the rumours said about him. But perhaps, it was the same with her since she knew there were some nasty rumors going around. Then she thought ‘Just maybe....I found someone I can relate to’

Ever since then, Levi seemed irritated with the other scouts as he did notice and heard some remarks about others mocking Y/n. As well as the way they were just really acting like a bunch of kids who were not mature and had no idea what was coming from them. They truly were pathetic. “You know, it’s best not to be with such pathetic people.” He said suddenly as he was helping Y/n fix her 3DMG which mysteriously got jammed. 

Y/n felt these past few weeks that Levi was caring for her.....but in his own way.

Whenever they had a break, he would go over to Y/n and have a small chat. Nothing big just simple talks. “Make sure to wear good clothes...you know the winter is around the corner.” Y/n quite liked the small chats, it was a while since she had such a nice refreshing chat with someone. But she did not expect Levi to be the one, as he was not very vocal but she noticed actions spoke louder than words for him. Always giving her water or some biscuits for her to have, and checking on her equipment. It felt like she was cared for once and it did make her have an unknown feeling. It was quite complex for her to figure out but, it made her feel happy for sure though.

Whenever she got bullied by the other scouts on how she was just a nobody and just a junkie from the underground, it really made her feel embarrassed and she started wearing a hood over her head just to not be seen or known by others. However, that did not work for Levi as he spotted her quickly as she was sitting beside a tree. “Y/n? Why are you hiding there.” She looked up and saw him with a concerned look. But she gave a small smile, he was....different that was for sure.

“I just wanted to be alone, that’s all.” 

“Oh. Then, would you like me to leav-”

“No!” Y/n did not realize that she had just now raised her voice, but not only that....also grabbing the Corporal's wrist! She quickly backed away and before she was about to say something, Levi just started to....laugh? The whole atmosphere changed within seconds and Y/n just found herself smiling like an idiot. 

“Yeah, I am convinced now that you are an idiot.” He sat beside her and looked at her with a reassuring smile. Now she was a blushing mess, she just knew her face was heating up! Just being beside him the whole time, made her forget about what even made her upset from the beginning and not feel insecure anymore. Levi made her feel that just being herself was nothing wrong, nothing to be embarrassed about. Just spending time with Levi made her realize that, as someone like himself who really doesn’t seem to care about what others say about him while doing what he has to do was the highlight for her. She was y/n, her own person, and also....maybe an idiot according to Levi? But she will take that.

Y/n wasn’t sure what this unknown feeling was, but she wanted to keep feeling it for way longer. As time went by, she felt Levi’s worry and care for her. Whenever they passed by each other, he would look at her with a small smile, and sometimes when they were alone he made y/n to call him Levi.

Again, her 3DMG wasn’t working. She was quite disappointed in herself for not maintaining her gear, this would definitely not make her survive outside the walls if she had this problem occurring.

Y/n looked over at Levi who seemed quite angry and annoyed. She felt something in her gut that today...something was gonna happen.

“Alright, who done it.” The whole training area in the forest got silent. Everyone looks at each other with fear in their eyes. ‘What...? Don’t tell me.’

And that’s when Y/n figured it out, someone was tampering with her 3DMG! It was not just a coincidence after all.  However, that left her feeling terrible. Levi could see that and that’s when he snapped when seeing just how hurt Y/n was.

“No one is leaving here till that disgusting shithead who is responsible comes out.” No one had really seen Corporal Levi like that, the atmosphere changed so bad that even Mike felt it without sniffing anything. ‘I said no trouble...cause I’m afraid of this.’

Everyone now started to back away and look towards the guy who was trying to hide in the middle between the scouts. Y/n quickly noticed that it was one of the main people in the scouts that really was bothering her and came to the conclusion after seeing his fearful face that he was the culprit indeed.

Levi didn’t need to guess who it was and went walking slowly, straight up to him. “Was it...You.” Now, Y/n was sure that guy might have probably taken a real shit right now. He started sweating so badly and then got to the floor. “I-I’m so sorry Corporal!!! I mean to..!” Levi looked down at him with such disgust. “You are indeed pathetic. I did notice your shitty behaviour lately. But to go this far...doing that to another comrade? No. You are no longer a trustworthy scout, let alone a decent citizen and I’m officially taking you out of the whole Training Corps.”

The tension was so high, that everyone backed away from Levi and the bully, who really started this whole problem. Y/n just stood there with sadness and confusion. Seems like she probably will never know why she was the one picked on, like always.

After a long day, Y/n was called into Levi’s office during the evening. She went over there and inside his office. Levi noticed immediately the sadness in her eyes and the change in her vibe. He wondered why, why was she still upset? Did they bother her afterwards? He was about to ask when.

“Why did you do that for me? Was it for the good of the scouts to remove someone who doesn’t collaborate with others or....was it for me?” With that last word, she looked up with tears in her eyes that made her eyes come out looking more beautiful than ever. He stood in front of her now, and slowly, gently grabbing her hand. He looked at her with a lot of affection this time. “Idiot. It was because I care for you.” Levi said it so quietly, as if he just wanted Y/n to hear it and no one else even though they were both alone in his office. But, he said it in a way that made him blush just slightly, he was definitely not used to talking in a way to make someone acknowledge how he cares for them but also....for someone who he seemed to like.

“I was from there too you know.” He said suddenly, “So I understand.” Levi was now softly wiping the tears that rolled down Y/n’s cheeks. Levi didn’t need to say more, nothing more. Just that look in his eyes and the feeling that they are both feeling right now. That Unknown feeling was reassuring and what Y/n only needed. Nothing else. Y/n then brought her arms around Levi’s shoulders and hugged him, she wanted to feel his warmth on this cold winter night and comfort for her heart that she never knew she needed till tonight. Levi, hugged her back tightly with affection around her waist, also needing some more warmth that night and they stood there, hugging each other while outside his office window, it started to finally snow.

note: okay, I’m glad to have posted this! I’m not sure if anyone will read it or like it but I felt the sudden urge to post it and it was on my mind lately! I’m also finally done with uni and taking a break, so I decided to come back to post this and see whoever wants to read it and enjoy it. The world is crazy atm and I hope whoever reads this gives themselves a break once in a while <3

Okay, now here’s a crazy qsmp theory:

The qsmp duck? That’s Quackity.

For one thing: duck. Self-explanatory.

But there’s one problem, and it’s that q!Quackity is a seemingly-unknowing participant in the explicitly canon human experiment going on on the qsmp. And the Duck? It’s a mascot, but it’s also the ‘host’ of the island. It’s a stand-in for the experimenters, think Usami/Monomi from Danganronpa 2. How could that be Quackity if Quackity is participating in the experiment itself?

This is where it gets crazy.

So far, we have confirmation that this is an experiment. Watch the video announcing the egg event and come back. This is an experiment, and the eggs have been consistent across this and the previous experiment. That comes from the lore teasers from before the smp’s announcement. There were eight eggs/eight players (it’s unclear) before, and now there are 16. The experiment’s scope as increased. What’s important, though, are the eggs.

Q!Quackity’s character arc properly began only after the death of his son Tilín. Everyone else doing major plot had their arcs start prior- take q!Roier and q!Luzu as examples here. He’s been consumed by his grief to the point of desperation.

And his kindergarten’s homework assignments are on the official egg tasks list.

And he’s been saying not to trust Cucurucho/the Census Bureau Creature since day one.

And he explicitly dislikes Arin/AI Luzu.

And Arin is where this theory starts becoming super weird, because he can see the server’s “code”. Combine that with the literal code monsters flying around hunting him down and trying to kill the eggs, and the message during the funeral that said to break out and remember, it’s pretty clear that the qsmp is an electronic simulation with its members as unknowing and possibly unwilling members of a human experiment. Every member added got the digital ticket to the island through minecraft and in a digital version of their streaming setups, except for Quackity, who was only properly announced the day of the server’s start, and for Rubius, whose announcement poster was a glitched mess.

Q!Rubius is the devil/angel with creative and spectator mode, and with connections to God/Satan. While he and Cucurucho don’t seem to get along, they are on the same side, more or less. When Juanaflippa was essentially promised a life from Rubius, she was declared dead at the funeral, much to q!Slime’s anger. And when q!Maximus asked at said funeral what was going on, Trump responded with “I don’t know, but they’re strong…” These guys? Sus.

But back to Quackity.

This last bit is very Anime, but also he did say that he was inspired by Attack on Titan, and so I feel like I’m a little bit justified when claiming that the q!Quackity we see now is the same person as a hypothetical Experimenter Quackity. It’s a bit like Kamukura from Danganronpa 2 if you think about it, or a bit like Eren from Attack on Titan. Spoilers for the end of AoT, but it’s made canon in the end that, the whole time, Eren has been looking back from the future and has manipulated the series in that way. There are an infinite number of timelines because of this. And then with Kamukura, he’s literally the experimenter plugged in with amnesia into the virtual experiment. It writes itself.

Just why Quackity is doing this is unclear, though maybe it has something to do with the multilingual nature of the server (vape wizard, anyone?) or the eggs (again, his character arc only kicked off after the death of Tilín, which could mean that he’s going through these experiments to try and make a world where Tilín lives.)

But, hey, that’s just a theory- a game theory.

- she’d look so devastated. Like you’d literally see the light in her eyes fade. It would be like her whole world just crashed down on her, barley any oxygen left to breathe. And whatever the argument was about would go straight out the window. Just, you just said it. That’s all that would matter. Is that you told her that you hated her.

- it’d seem like she was being dramatic about it but she was serious, mikasa doesn’t take that stuff lightly. She would find everything she does harder now. I don’t even think she’d have the mental strength to train anymore. What’s the point in training if you hate her? Whats the point of even existing if you hate her? She’d just keep thinking about the look on your face when you said it to her, just repeating the whole thing in her mind for what seemed like forever. It would really break her.

- “YEAH WELL FUCK YOU TOO!” she’d say. Annie projects her saddens through anger, so she’d have a violent emotional reaction. Maybe throw something (not at you ofc) but she’d get really mad. So yeah, apparently from what I read so far from some reviews and articles (don't take it from me; just expressing my own thoughts as a fellow anime/TV shows fan), many people seemed to like how the AOT's anime finale wasn't debatable as Neon Genesis Evangelion's anime finale, abrupt as The Sopranos' finale, controversial as AOT manga's finale, or butchered for being disappointing like anime Death Note's or GOT's finale. Thoughts?

I think that the reason why the anime finale had a much more positive reception than the manga finale was because Isayama listened to the criticisms people had and fixed what he thought needed to be fixed.

So for some context, I was a manga reader. I followed the Aot manga since chapter 60, so before the coup began. I would wait every single month for a new chapter to drop, and during the gap in between, people who theorize what was going to happen next. Everyone, including myself, nitpicked every single little detail and came up with our own ideas. Now people already had criticisms over the time skip, the change in focus of characters. Assassin’s bullet is the most egregious offender in this. But majority consensus thought that the story was still fine…until chapter 139 dropped in April 2019 with mixed reactions. Some people liked it some people hated it, but they seemed to come to two conclusions: Levi had the best character arc and the ending felt rushed. There was a lot of information being thrown in the last chapter that wasn’t properly explained and felt out of no where. We didn’t have time to process it until the next bombshell revelation came about.

Then Isayama said he was going to drop an extra eight pages for chapter 139. People were fine with that and they thought that he was going to clarify and rework some of the dialogue he wrote and expand on a few things. But only two pages were dedicated to expanding on anything (Mikasa’s final conversation with Ymir). The remaining six was an epilogue following Mikasa’s life visiting Eren’s grave, the destruction of Paradis by about 200 years later, and the teen and dog coming to the tree, getting ready to kickstart everything over again.

Those eight pages divided the fandom even further. It felt cheap. It made it feel like everything was pointless and nothing mattered. I’ve watched analysis videos breaking down the last few chapters and those analysis videos did a better job at conveying what Isayama wanted to say than Isayama himself.

So why did the anime ending make anime people feel satisfied? A few things. One: people weren’t waiting month by month for each chapter to drop. I think the wait time mattered in the context of the situation. Sure, anime people had to wait longer for the episodes to come out, but when the season or episode dropped, it was week by week or movie length special, where they could frame the narrative better and fix and add extra details missing in the manga. Which leads to number two: Isayama listened to the criticisms and applied it.

One of the biggest problems many had with chapter 139 was Armin thanking Eren for destroying 80% of all of humanity. It felt rushed, and it didn’t feel honest to Armin’s character. Armin would not have been okay with Eren destroying the outside world, the world he always dreamt of seeing. But Armin, in the manga, seems to accept Eren’s sins and the framing of it makes it feel like he and other members of the cast are praising him for his crimes. The anime fixes that. It makes Armin have a much more visceral and furious reaction to Eren wiping out 80% of humanity. It makes Armin weep at the lives lost and Eren’s taste for violence. And Armin doesn’t thank Eren for being a mass murderer. But he does comfort him, and tells Eren that they will be together in hell for the roles they played in nearly wiping out humanity. Armin doesn’t forgive him, but he does mourn him.

There were also a few dialogue and scene changes changes that played into the epilogue a lot better than what happened in the manga, like Eren acknowledging the fact that his actions wasn’t going to end the cycle of violence, Historia’s letter to the Alliance, Levi and the others helping repair the world after the Rumbling, Eren’s friends being annoyed at what Eren did to ensure their safety, wondering if he ultimately put them at more risk, the fact that the destruction of Paradis took place thousands of years later instead of 200 years laters.

Simple changes like that matters, and I think for the most part, that’s what made anime watchers satisfied. Aot still has its flaws but the ending in the anime is still a significant improvement in my book.

Another Crab’s Treasure

If you’ve wanted to try Soulslikes but thought the barrier for entry was too difficult, this is the game I would recommend you try.

To me, (I’ve played Dark Souls, Lies of P, Elden Ring, some of Sekiro [I got the Mortal Blade] and some of Dark Souls 3 [my computer started acting up so the frame rate would stutter, not good for a game where frame timing is a major point of strategy) it was comparatively easy, that by no way means it was “easy” I still died to bosses at least 2-4 times before I defeated them, and the only one I didn’t need multiple tries for was an optional boss balanced for early game I backtracked to find before the final boss.

I prefer and excel at combat that’s parry heavy, makes me feel in control of the combat, so there’s one early boss I had more issues with because the parry is not available when you fight him… at least it’s not supposed to be.

The game is still getting patches and bug fixes, a consistently common issue is the geometry, both visible and not (clipping through walls, Kril or enemies reacting weird when in tight spaces, being able to miss the activation area for boss fights and cutscenes) in my playthrough, after a few tries at the first story boss, the cutscene just… didn’t activate, allowing me to skip that portion, get access to the skill tree, and return tactically OP because I could parry. (I joined Aggro Crab’s discord server just to report this specific bug, but I also have a notebook for video game stuff, so any other bugs I came across got noted. I plan to do another playthrough to see if the bugs happen again/I can replicate them, I’ve got nothing better to do with my time)

These issues were almost entirely graphical, with no real bearing on my experience. There were a few though, some areas in late game require platforming around obstacles, and with how the respawn system works (the last place Kril was able to get solid footing) you can get stuck in a death loop. However this is a known problem that is still being worked on with a temporary fix currently picking up the slack, it’s not obvious, it’s supposed to be a failsafe for a rare situation, and the only reason I know about it was because I got caught in a death loop and it happened to me.

The bosses!

Only about a dozen of them, but they each have very different attack patterns so it’s not like Resi7 or GoW’18. Honestly some of the mob enemies frustrated me more than the bosses. There’s one late game boss that felt very uninteresting (only like 4 attacks, didn’t move in the arena) but the phase 2 made up for it in spades, and you realize there’s actually a lore reason the boss can’t move, so Aggro Crabbo covered there bases there.

None of them felt unfair or difficult just to be difficult, (I very much enjoy Elden ring and the DLC… but some of those fights are just ew )

(And yes, one of them does use a hitachi wand in their fight. Like a proper plug in the wall one)

Story!

Unlike other soulslikes, AoT is very upfront with its story, other popular soulslikes, even the ones that are also Metroidvanias, tend to tell the story via item descriptions and encounters with NPCs that can be easy to miss. And it’s a good story too!

You play Kril, a Hermit of a hermit crab who’s shell gets ‘repossessed’ due to unpaid taxes. He doesn’t even know what taxes are! So he follows the ‘loan shark’ down to try and hash out an agreement at least. He doesn’t want to be here! He was just minding his little crab boy business! RPG story shenanigans ensue, and now you have to hunt down a treasure to get your house back.

As the story progresses, the tone gets heavier, but it doesn’t drag the vibes down with it (which might bother some people, your mileage may vary) but when those heavy story beats hit they hit HARD.

You start off as a kid being forced on an adventure, and by the end the story has said “complacency in the face of injustice and cruelty is an act of cruelty in itself. Your actions may not fix the problems, but unlike inaction they at least do something to make the situation better. Your intentions do not undo the damage you may cause and you must take responsibility for it. Do not stew in your anger, but do not smother it either, use it to fuel doing and being better.” Which… considering the state of the world the message felt, not encouraging, but validating.

There are a lot of meme references and jokes in plain view (the scenery is largely made up of trash, like actual bits of garbage, and if you have the texture setting high enough to read the packaging, you’ll probably get a chuckle, if not a reluctantly amused sigh) as well as some of the shell descriptions.

Some of these references are easy to understand, they were/are viral to the point of being recognizable to someone not chronically online… but some were so very chronically online and made me snort scream.

Accessibility features! (Assist Mode)

These aren’t your usual subtitle settings, color blindness correction (something that has been sent in the suggestion channel) or haptics.

These are settings you can access at any point during the game to modify the difficulty. Either through changing the overall preset, specific condition changes (decrease enemy health, increase your HP, don’t lose micro plastics (money) upon death) and… you can give Kril a gun.

Not a little crab sized gun, not a rubber band gun that’s also a pen that you get from a gag gift shop. An actual, semi automatic pistol, that Kril wears on his back and takes up a good chunk of the screen. It one shots everything even bosses, so if something is pissing you off, you can just get ‘em with the Glock. (It does actually look like it was modeled after a Glock, but I’m not a gun guy so I could be wrong)

I used this throughout the game, for me it was mostly for when I had died and needed to get my dropped junk back. Because run backs can be the worst and really demotivating if you keep dying in the same spot. Also there’s a very late game area that has basically the guardian stalkers from breath of the wild but somehow worse??? They’re like 20-30 times kril’s height with a high defense stat. They’re based off of Japanese spider crabs and both scared and pissed me off. I got through to continue the story sans gun, but when I went back for possible items (an upgrade component is in the midst of all these bastards) I just popped them off and tbh it felt so much better than I think killing them off “properly” would have.

The game obviously still has some buffering that needs to be done, the state of modern games development is one that frustrates me to no end, but I will accept studios releasing an acceptable/playable project that they intend to fine tune post release. Not finish post release. Also Aggro Crab is a team of like 15-20 people I think? Which is a super small team! And they’ve released a game with lovely set pieces and environmental design, snappy and responsive gameplay, with a compelling story that feels poignant and fun characters who never left me bored.

Also the way they wrote Kril’s character arch felt much more real/relatable than other characters in his position have usually been written.

His motivations are selfish (he wants his house back) and that’s what’s driving him for the entire story ath the halfway point there’s a scene where characters are discussing what they’d do with the treasure they’re looking for, everyone said “something something. Share with the rest of you/community” and Kril just says, I’m keeping it all I need it to get my house back, even when confronted with questions that make him ask himself if he really enjoyed his old life, he recognizes that he wasn’t exactly happy, but it’s what he knows and since he’s been on this adventure everything has been obviously WORSE, it’s not until the penultimate boss that his motivations turn to helping another person and that’s a life and death situation.

His arch ends in the “expected” way, but it feels more naturally done. His purpose isn’t adventure, he’s searching for a new goal, if he goes on an adventure while doing it that’s just happenstance.

Attack On Titan's Anime Original Ending

I have an unhealthy obsession with this animanga. There, I said it. No, but really, it’s more than just love. You know I parade it around like it’s a gift to humanity from god and it’s the perfect work of fiction, but it’s not (UNLESS you scrap everything past chapter 90 in which case yes it is perfect. I’d rather have a partial conclusion than an awkward one.), because we got Game Of Thronesed. With the release of the final chapter, the fanbase was extremely divisive, and with the 8 extra pages included later on because only god knows why, everyone just hated the whole thing. And that gave birth to AOE, Anime Original Ending, because you know, AoT, AoE, you get the point. When I caught up to the manga in 2021, it was at 137 and I read every chapter (2) since then in the few minutes since release, and I was pretty much okay with it. Like it was not the masterpiece I expected from Hajime Isayama (I also have a huge problem with idolisation. Like every single person I idolized has let me down terribly. Thank god I still have Toby Fox and Tatsuki Fujimoto.), but still, it was just fine. I just went two years pretending that never happened and Attack On Titan is still the same perfect manga that inspired me to pursue writing. 

That was until last Wednesday, when I went down the AOE rabbit hole and spent like 24 hours doing nothing but that. I slept like 2 hours in between I think. And now I have crippling anxiety about the last episode of the anime. As a redditor aptly put it

 “If it happens Yams will turn into one of the greatest creators of fiction in history

If it doesn't he will turn into one of the greatest clowns in fiction history”.

I’ve read every theory that people have written in the subreddit, and it’s pretty compelling. There are some subtle differences between the anime and the manga that could either be just because he forgor or foreshadowing, and knowing Isayama, it’s highly likely the latter. Seriously, the plot consistency and subtle symbolism and foreshadowing and the storytelling quality of everything up till chapter 90 is unparalleled, so as awkward as the rest of it was, I’m still holding out hope. If the last episode just turns out to be a straight adaptation I am going to be so pissed because with how much evidence there is it just feels like the dumbest freaking thing to do. I would agree that some parts are a bit of a reach but like, the rest? Impeccable. I kinda wish I didn’t read the theories like before when I thought this was just delusional because if this happens, this is going to be like the biggest thing to happen in anime history. It would be flipping game changing.

I know I shouldn’t care this much, it’s just a dumb anime, who cares, right? But as I alluded to before, I have sort of a personal connection to this, even when I joined at like the very end of it. I was born too late :(, I would have been 7 when the first season aired. It meant so much to me even when I joined this late, imagine how much more it would have been if I had been reading it as it aired (emphasis on read, because Season 2 came out a whopping 4 years after Season 1.) I really hated doing art as a child. Not because I had a distaste for it, but I was kind of a perfectionist. I didn’t want to make anything that wasn’t a masterpiece. It’s dumb, and I still have that feeling, but seeing Isayama make such a storytelling marvel at his first shot at a serialized manga, that was really inspiring (and caused me to set a nigh-unattainable goal :P). It is dumb, but I hope you see now why I want to see it become the best that it can be. There is just so much freaking potential in all the theories that I have read. I know I’m hoping for too much but I just can’t accept the fact that it has such a mediocre ending. \*sigh\* I really need to get a life don’t I?

I'm gonna go off because my thoughts are pretty mixed 🥲 Spoilers below the cut!

Obviously, I loved jjk and still do. Gege created one of the most beautifully complex characters in his story with a compelling storyline that kept me at the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. Like at one moment I would be like "nah gege won't do that it's too risky" but in the next chapter he would prove me wrong and do the exact same thing. And this is something I really appreciate - when authors take risk in their writing.

Given all this, one would expect better from the ending right? I think I see the vision Gege had. A lot of people compared it with AoT ending (including me) before the pages with Sukuna's conversation with Mahito came out. But here's the thing, Sukuna says that he will take a different path, try to do things differently and that makes it so much different from AoT's ending? It doesn't show that whatever happened in jjk is an endless cycle, but more like completing a full cycle and going back where it started, but this time things will be different?

Like in the first chapter, we see Sukuna's finger all bound in those seals because it was such an ominous and potent object, but at the end it's just there in the open with no seal or anything and it just shows that it's not that big of a threat anymore yk? But this is just my perception.

Now this being said, I think the ending is really incomplete and a lot of things could be done better.

Firstly the character development. Yuji had the most character development and so did gojo, but since Megumi and Nobara were such an important part of the story I feel like their development wasn't shown. And yes I know it all happens under 3-4 months but look at how much Yuji has changed. I don't think it's wrong to expect it from Megumi or Nobara. Don't get me wrong, I love these two people, but something didn't sit right with me when it comes to their ending or character development. Honestly just one panel of Nobara saying yes to Yuji when he asks her to watch earthworm man 5 would have made a good impact.

And then Megumi. Man I expected him to acknowledge Gojo. That man literally raised him? And also more reaction for his sister's death besides just visiting her grave. I don't know, Megumi ended right where he started and while he is one of my faves, I don't think there was much character development in his case yk?

And I am happy with Yuji's ending. I don't think I have anything to say there ahaha

I think my biggest complaint from the ending, aside from Gojo's treatment, is that there was no solution for curses. Geto left the jujutsu society and turned into a curse user because he wanted to get rid of curses. Gojo never wanted to steal youth from children, and tried to make sure everyone loved their youth and was not burdened by the responsibilities of being a sorcerer. But in the end, we see the trio take on a mission. So ultimately, all those 271 chapters + jjk0 resulted in the death of the king of curses which didn't even get rid of curses. That's the net change we had from chapter 1 to this. And ofc losing some beloved characters. We don't see how Sukuna's death affected the curses, aside from Mahito. Did they get weak or something? We don't know. From what I understood, Sukuna was a part of the problem but not the problem itself. I hope this made sense.

I am not a Sukuna fan, but his ending was really well done. I think a little info about the person who was standing behind Sukuna towards the left would have made his ending perfect, but it's gege holding the pen.

Oh and Gojo. The character he is, the connect we had with him aaahhh sometimes I cant believe he is fictional because I just feel so much for him😭 and i absolutely HATED how gege treated him. Like he made your manga this popular, let's be real. That's why he was used so much in the marketing of last few chapters else who will read it? If you see the posts by official accounts and official art released in the past couple of months, almost all had gojo and they were some important panels.

Without gojo, most people wouldn't have survived Shibuya (I am looking at you kasukabe (?) it should have been you instead of Nanami) yet somehow gojo was the one to blame for everything. We did not get any kind of acknowledgement from any characters except Yuji, and kinda Yuta. It made me hate everyone like wtff??

Anyways, I found this twitter and it makes so much sense? Because at times it did feel like gege isn't happy with his manga. Maybe he wanted to do something different but because what he wanted to make was not what people wanted to read, he was forced to change things up a little and create this. Even after all this, gege did cook. If we remove the takaba part - which is funny but idk I am not a big fan of that part - I think the manga was pretty good up until the last 3 chapters. And (again, just what I think) gege has been kinda sick this year a lot. Maybe the rushed ending had something to do with it because I kinda see the vision, and if it was properly executed it could have been really satisfying.

Yeah. At home is different than stores. At home, for myself, I could be either "being a ninja" by climbing the furniture in the house (like when you're in the kitchen). Or use a chair or stool to stand on if I can't even reach. But, at the store, that's a completely different situation. I know that I can't climb in the freezes to get products in case that I may end up stuck in the freezers. Or.. Something like that. So I might need any help someone's willing to give me, not that I ever like asking for help.

Short people problems.

I don't get me started on never finding clothes, shoes, jewelries that's actually able to fit me. So that's definitely discrimination against me.

As someone who favors many short characters.. There's always some comments about their height. And I know that pain, at least I'm angry enough to become violent towards people who comment about mine too. Basically like every short character in existence now that I'd think about it. Seriously! I do like most, if not all, of the shorter characters.

When it comes to women: Saiko (TG) is basically the female animated me. Short, chubby, with the same personality more or less is me if I'm an anime character.. There's Charmy (BC). Both of them are actually a couple inches taller than me. Quite a few women in MHA who happen to be short too. Not sure if Fabiola (BL) counts? I'm neutral about this character, her character, but her age has never officially been said? I'd seen mentions that she's seventeen, but never confirmed or denied.

There might be other female characters? But I can't think of now.

But I feel like majority of the short characters are male characters but that could just be me thinking that? And then, there is the males: Hiei (YYH), Feitan (HxH), Ed (FMA), Levi (AOT), amongst more characters that I could list but won't. And I know there are short child characters in anime, but I saw trying to stick with the short adult characters. Oh! And Asta (BC), he's also another character. But I like short characters in general. Maybe some more than others. But that's not that point.

Oh! Wait.. Near (DN). He's another short character. How could I forget him?! I just rewatched Death Note recently. But there's also Near too.

I might be short.. But if anyone, regardless of height, tries to treat me that way. Like pick me up, carry me around, anything like that then I'd say that they might lose limbs (and maybe their lives) in the process. I can say that I can be violent like Ed Elric when it comes to my height.. If that person is deliberately trying to piss me off. And other times I'm trying not caring about the comments. But it depends on my mood?

You hummed a laugh. "The kids want me to have a prince as a boyfriend. I told them I don't have a boyfriend."

Levi hummed. "You don't need a prince, miss."

"Told them that. So, what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"

He handed you a note. "This is a message for you. I also need a little word with Mikasa and Annie."

You nodded. "Sure. Annie? Mikasa? Go with sir for a moment." You opened the note and smiled at its words.

You look stunning today. I can't wait to hold you and kiss you. I love you so much.

Levi x

You folded the letter up and put it in your pocket. You felt a gaze on you. You looked over to Eren. "It's teacher stuff."

Eren pouted. "You're really not with anyone?"

"Yep. I'm single and happy." You walked over and looked at his work. "Lovely stuff so far. You're all so talented." You stood up and walked over to Levi as Mikasa and Annie hugged. "What's happened here then?"

Levi sighed. "These two got into a fight during PE. I split them up and I just wanted them to talk and hug it out. Turns out Annie said something about Eren and Mikasa got mad."

You knelt down. "Mikasa, I know you love Eren a lot but not everyone loves him like you do. You have to accept that. Annie? You have to start talking more about your feelings instead of fighting. Also, I know you like Eren as a friend, don't get so embarrassed that you like someone as a friend and end up being mean. Be honest. We got a deal you two?"

Annie nodded. "Yes, miss."

Mikasa smiled. "Yes, miss."

"Wonderful. Now, say sorry to sir for fighting in his nice lesson."

Both spoke together. "Sorry, sir!"

Levi ruffled their hair. "It's okay. You're my best students and I know things can get hard, but you always have me and miss to talk to. Now, go off you run."

You stood up and sighed. "Goodness, fighting over a boy."

"Mikasa is a great kid, she just has a strong loyalty to Eren."

You folded your arms and watched the kids. "You're right."

He sighed, then blushed a little. "Did you read the message for you?"

"I did and I will carry out all things on it." You looked up as the bell rang. "Alright you lot, off out to play and when you get back we'll have naptime!" You looked at Levi. "Could you help me set up the nap area?"

He nodded. "Happy to."

You smiled at your kids as they watched you and Levi set up the nap area. You left the nap stuff when you saw Connie struggling with his coat and Sasha laughing at him. You knelt and fixed it up, then sent him on his little way. You closed the playground door behind the kids and locked it for safety reasons. You closed the blinds, then set up snacks and drinks for them.

Levi walked up behind you, then slipped his arms around you and started kissing the back of your neck. "No boyfriend or prince, huh?"

You hummed a laugh. "You know why we tell the kids no. If they all found out, we wouldn't hear the end of it."

He let you go allowing you to turn in his arms. "You're right, but I still wish I could kiss you in the open."

"You can kiss me and hold me in front of our friends and staff members here, just not the kids." You kissed him and sighed in happiness. "I love you so much. Your note was so cute."

Levi lifted you up and carried you to your desk. He sat you on it and purred at you as he dove for the crook of your neck. "I'm glad you liked it. It was all my idea."

You cupped his face and wiggled it. "Handsome and smart. I lucked out with you."

"I'm the lucky one." He nipped your lip playfully, then pushed his tongue into your mouth and moaned when you took all of him. He wrapped you up tightly in his arms as your tongues moved together in heated bliss. "I really do love you."

You smiled at him. "I love you too."

Daichi

He’s a hugger for sure! If you’re on your phone, or reading, or doing anything before bed he’s snuggling up behind you and resting his head on your shoulder to watch what you’re doing - he’s nosey like that. Anyways, being the big spoon is a very convenient cuddling position for that, and he gets to wrap you up and hold you close <3

Through the night though he slowly scoots down off his pillow in his sleep, so when you wake up his face is nuzzled into the middle of your upper back with his arms still squeezing around your midsection so tight you know you’d have to wake him up to get him to let go 😭 he’s also for sure a light snorer, but it’s ok he makes up for it by being cute or whtv 🙄

Asahi

Another spooner! He’s not particularly bias to being the big or little spoon but he just can’t face you 😭

There’s a few reasons: 1) it makes him freak out and it’s like he can feel your eyes on him even if they’re closed. He’ll be constantly peeking one eye open to look at your face and he’s half scared he’s gonna open them and you’re gonna be staring at him like 👁👁 LMAO

2) the breath on his face tickles too much and will eventually start to irritate him and he gets pouty cause it makes it tough to sleep

And 3) what if he’s making a weird face in his sleep and you wake up to see it 😭

So spooning for the win it is

Sugawara

I don’t think he’d be a big fan of being held, it makes him feel too claustrophobic and he’d feel kinda bad moving you off of him if he had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night :( I also think he tosses n turns a bit while sleeping so holding him wouldn’t be the best option anyways, however!

He likes touching/lightly intertwining legs - one reason is because you can kind of get away with it from any angle but still find a comfortable position that suits you, the other reason is because his feet get cold in the middle of the night and this is the easiest way to steal your warmth

Nishinoya

Ok ok, so I know it’s cliche - but I do think he’s a teensy bit too excited for bedtime cuddles! Not in a restless way, he’s just too excited with the act of actually cuddling you, like every time. Day cuddles are different! When the two of you have some alone time and he’s snuggled up with you on the couch, leaving a bunch of kisses (his favorite are Eskimo kisses), periodically grabbing your face so your lips pucker and leaving a dramatic kiss there after he talks about how cute you are (“oh my god you’re so adorable I could crush you ☹️🥺”), and then squeezing you so tight sometimes your back even cracks, it’s fine! You’re not trying to sleep so it’s just sweet Noya doting on you - but you can see how this would be a problem when y’all are tryna get some shut eye 😭

Solution: back to back, but touching so you can still feel each other’s closeness <3, bonus: every time Noya becomes aware your guys’ butts are touching he giggles and wiggles a little until you remind him it’s time to sleep 😭

Tanaka

Ok but he needs to have a hand on your ass and not even in a sexual way 😪🤚🏼 he just grabs on naturally or rests his hand there and sometimes lovingly pats it when he kisses your cheek before either going back to falling asleep or being on his phone or smth :)

He also loves burying his face in your neck, it just feels so soothing to him and he also finds your smell so relaxing and makes him feel all warm inside! Like when he sees you after a long day he loves wrapping you up in a big hug and leaving kisses in the crook of your neck and burying his face there cause he just missed you sm <3

Yamaguchi

Very much like Hinata he also adores being intertwined with you!! He finds it particularly comforting with your face buried in his chest or neck while he has his legs wrapped up with yours. He thinks it’s the best position to lean down and press a kiss to the top of your head (his favorite kind of sweet kiss), which he always does right before he feels himself drifting off to sleep.

He also likes rubbing your back/neck this way until you fall asleep, or while you talk about anything you wanna talk about. Waking up this way is also his favorite, and if you guys have moved in your sleep, you bet he’s pulling you back into a hug. He periodically squeezes you in his arms, leaves feather light kisses to your shoulder, runs his hands up and down your back, sure you probably won’t be asleep for much longer now with all this movement, but he just can’t help it with how sweet you look sleeping! Don’t worry though he’ll keep up the soothing while you wake up and talk about your dreams and what you want for breakfast :)!

Tsukishima

Not much of a cuddly guy throughout the day but when bedtime rolls around you bet your ass he’s expecting some kind of physical affection. His favorite is when he lays on his back with his arm out so you can nuzzle into his side, and once you’re all comfortable he wraps said arm around you to pull you in close.

Your favorite is when he runs his hand up and down your side or draws little designs with his fingers on any exposed skin. His favorite is when you bring your face up to rest in the crook of his neck or rest your head on his chest, any light kisses you leave or the breath that puffs out of you and hits his neck every now and then never fails to give him goosebumps and make him blush.

Kageyama

I don’t think he’s particularly ~stiff cuddling with you but I definitely think it’s not his forte when it comes to bed time! He just finds a comfortable spot - usually on his side or back - and that’s that! He’s found it and is gonna be out in approximately 2 minutes, but he does love feeling you in bed next to him :(

A good compromise he’s decided is reaching his hand out next to him him so he can hold onto your hand while he sleeps, or being the little spoon! It actually feels super comforting to him to feel you all cuddled up to his back and keeping him warm no matter if you’re bigger or smaller than him <3 he also loves the way he has to pry your arms off of him when he has to get up in those early mornings, or the way he feels your face squish up against his back sometimes, he just loves you.

Hinata

He definitely gets hot in his sleep but he love love loves cuddling with you, so you’ll always start off wrapped up in each other somehow. Usually face to face with your legs intertwined cause he thinks talking to each other about any and everything is a good way to wind down before bed - and I mean anything. Sometimes it’s just him asking you odd questions he’s been thinking about recently before one of you remembers you can google it

But no matter how you two fall asleep at first, you always wake up clinging onto his sprawled out body (probably because he’s kicked the blanket onto the floor and you got chilly in your sleep) or far away from him with all the blanket to yourself as he peacefully snores beside you <3

Yachi

Play with her hair and she’s KNOCKED 100%! She also loves either holding you or being held, but there’s got to be SOME kind of holding going on for her heart to feel full <333

She’s also the queen of surprise hugs from behind once you’ve been together for a fair bit and she feels more comfy being publicly affectionate with you! And if you do the same to her it never fails to make her smile or cover her face cause she’s blushing from surprise

“(Y/n)!! You startled me!” And now you have a very excited & giggly gf 😽😽

Kiyoko

I personally see her as a pretty religious back sleeper so the most ideal position is you in her side or you laying between her legs while she holds you and your head is resting on her chest. PERSONALLY she prefers the second one but she leaves it up to you <3

She just thinks it’s most ideal how she could reach down and trace her fingers lightly on the side of your face; or play with your hair if she’s able to; or rub your neck, back, and shoulders to ease any stress from your day. She’s a big giver of private affection and thinks it’s so cute when you’re so tuckered out you she wakes up with a little drool on her shirt. Not to mention your weight and warmth is super comforting to her ! And even if she wouldn’t admit it, she likes being able to use not wanting to move and wake you as an excuse to get 5 more minutes of you cuddling with her.

Synopsis: Y/N decided to prank the boys in attack on titan by saying they don’t want to ‘sleep with them tonight’. Some will get annoyed, sad, might tease you back or try to get your attention! And to make it up, Y/N ends the prank by saying the 3 words they long wanted to hear! So pick or check out which character you like the most and enjoy <3 We promise this will be good that is filled with love, fluff, entertainment and a little bit angst.

Levi:

‘Okay I’m gonna do it! No more backing away.’ Y/N thought as they took a deep breath while turning the door knob to enter the bedroom. They are gonna do the prank on Levi tonight.

Y/N entered the bedroom, and the first sight they see is Levi, their boyfriend, sitting on the chair while his legs were crossed and sipping his tea.

He would always wait for his partner before going to bed, he never once went to bed without first Y/N going to bed. He was that loyal and such a gentleman, and also because he is deeply in love with you.

He can’t even relax or lay on bed if you are not by his side! You are his everything, and he will not and never have a goodnight rest without you being by his side because you matter to him a lot.

Oh how you feel bad doing this prank on Levi, your great boyfriend...but you had to, you wanted to see how he would react!

“Love...I was waiting for you.” He sounded so glad, and happy once you entered inside. But, he realized you were a bit late and the next thing shocked him.

You just walked past him with a stolid manner, and did not even reply to him as you went straight to the bathroom. You took your toothbrush and started to brush your teeth.

Levi picked that up QUICKLY and would try to figure out what is wrong with Y/N, while still sipping his tea but now he has uncrossed his leg (cause this sudden act from his partner made him worry). Watching Y/N, observing them in his own sherlock style.

“Hey...Something wrong?” Levi would say as he laid his shoulder against the bathroom door which was open.

When you finished brushing your teeth, you were washing your hands and coldly said “No.”

He lowkey starts to get nervous and then he would probably start to think he is the problem why his lover is acting like this. He will think and be like ‘The hell? They don't love me? What am I to them….?’. He clearly starts to doubt himself and overthink. You gave him no sort of clue what was going on!

When you left the bathroom and went into the bedroom, you started to change into your nightwear, still giving Levi your back. 

Levi is quick and smart to catch on things, especially if the vibe is not the same. ‘Fuck did I actually mess this up’ He tries to initiate the conversation by asking you “Hey Love, did you drink the tea I made for you?”

“Hm, Oh yea.” Y/N said, still with her stolid manner and then proceeded to brush their hair. ‘What?!...Something is definitely wrong, this is the second time I'm saying love to them and they haven't once said love back.’ Now he is getting concerned and he started to come closer towards you, he is conflicted also to hug you or not. (you noticed that and that broke your heart-)

“Y/N, Something is wrong...was the tea bad!?” Levi said out loud in his unease tone. 

He turned around and went to his drawer to get the tea box to check if there was anything that was mentioned that could be bad.

He was ready to sue this tea company, ‘I want to end this company’s whole career...how dare they.’

“No Levi….it was not the tea.” You said all worried, ‘What tea is he even talking about?! And why does he look ready to murder someone’ You thought as you looked at him, but also trying to hold your laughter.

He gave out a sigh, relieved it was not the case. Now, he can sleep with you right? He went to change into his sleeping outfit and he was all thrilled to hold his Y/N and sleep with them. It was indeed his favorite time of the day.

But...Y/N wasn't moving towards the bed? And they begin to say “Hey Um...I wanna sleep alone tonight. So, could you leave?”

Levi had a sinking feeling in his stomach, his eyes widened ‘What..?’

He turned around to look at you all confused and...hurt by what you said. “No.” He said after 3 minutes of silence, he was trying to process what the hell was even going on. (poor man-)

“No? Okay, I’ll leave and go sleep in the other guest room we have.” But, before you could even go near the door to leave.

Levi would block the door by standing in front of it, not allowing his lover to leave. “If..” He started to look at you and raised his eyebrows, being all serious. Then, he said in a serious tone. “You go there, I swear to you I will kick the door down and break it.”

You had to hold back your laughter, and tried to control yourself because you know for a fact your man will do that and it would be a lie if he is not clingy. Cause, he is.

“Why! Tell me.” He looked at your eyes, searching for any sign of answer on your facial expression. One hand cupping your side cheek and the other hand rested on your shoulder as he gently stroked it. 

“If it is about the tea, I will try my best to drink those damn bubble teas, frappuccino or whatever they are that you like so much with you!” He gave you a look, that was determined and he was ready to go out and get one even if it was midnight just to prove it to you.

He is actually kind of shocked and he would stand there waiting for your response. But inside, he is sad and hurt about this all cause he is blaming himself this is happening because of him!

“L-Love!! It's a joke, a prank okay?” You couldn't hold yourself and you finally said it was a joke, you just missed not saying love to your boyfriend and you wanted to hug him again and express your love towards him cause you know he was hurt!

Levi would get irritated and annoyed, and let you go. He heads towards the bed. After, he would say. “Again, with your fucking pranks hm? No one is laughing here.” He is clearly pissed at how he fell for this but also, lowkey glad it was not none of the things he was thinking about.

Y/N surprises their boyfriend and would finally say it to make it up for Levi. “Hey...Um” Y/N stood there, all shy while looking down and holding their arms. Levi turned around to look at them, “What? Again another prank? Because that won't wor-”. You ran towards him and brought your arms around his neck while hugging him tightly “Ugh No, I love you!” While you said that, you kept your face on his shoulder and he felt your face burning up.

After you finally say those three words, he goes all soft and starts to even get butterflies. It was the first time he heard you say that out loud, because he knew you are usually shy.

He would think about it again the whole night and that makes him forget you even pranked him.

He hugs you even tighter tonight and kisses their neck quite a lot, he was showing you some of his rare affection and love.

Levi would later say “so you still like sleeping with me...hm? You didn’t say anything about that.”

He wants to make sure his s/o loves and cherishes him, and also he started to show more love tonight to you. 

Jean:

To start the prank with Jean, you decided to give him the silent treatment, and that upsets him to unknown levels for you. He was a really soft boy and small things like this really overwhelmed him!

“Babe...Do you want something?” Jean tried, he really did. To get any sort of reaction from you, he softly rubbed both of your shoulders as he was behind you. He was about to kiss your neck when you said. “Jean...I want to sleep alone tonight, maybe you should go and sleep on the couch because-” You were about to continue when he made you turn around quickly and held both of your arms.

“First of all, who is Jean? I don’t know any Jean! I’m babe for you, remember?” He was highly strung, and tried to pretend he did not hear you say his first name. This guy would always crave and was eager to hear you call him by his pet name. It really boosted his ego up and he loved it the way you always say it. He was deeply in love with his Y/N.

You couldn't bring yourself to laugh yet, because it was kind of cute to see Jean like this and it made you want to tease him even more! “Okay but I wanna sleep alone tonight, Jean.”

‘Wait, wait, Wait! My girl is upset! Shit, what the heck did I do? STUPID JEAN’ He would think while putting his hand on his forehead, trying to think while having an existential crisis on the couch in their huge bedroom. Then he jolted up and said, “Maybe...is it because I ate the ice cream that you left for yourself??!”

‘Um, what the fuck is with this man? And what ice cream is he even talking about!’ Y/N would think as they had a confused look. They couldn't even focus on the prank anymore and were wondering which ice cream it was.

You then turned around, grabbed a pillow and was about to leave the room but Jean was hugging and holding your waist from behind, not letting them leave and he would yell out saying. “No! I won’t let you leave babe! Will you forgive me if I buy more ice cream RIGHT NOW?” Your man was more than ready to go out with his pajamas and his slippers to get you all the ice creams from the nearest corner shop.

He really was willing to do and try literally anything to get you not upset with him and sleep with him tonight, he can’t go on the night without you!

Since Jean is really upset about this prank, y/n had to make it up for him and break off the prank.

“Calm down! It’s a prank babe.” You said giggling, and rubbing his biceps (he really likes that).

He let out such a long sigh and was relieved to hear that, like this guy kept thanking the world it wasn’t because of the ice cream. “Damn it, you scared me there!! Babe, please you will end up giving me a heart attack with these pranks.” He said with such a calm tone and hugged you.

“But you know...I can’t sleep without you.” Y/n said in a soft tone and went near Jean as they put their head against his chest. “You know I love you anyways...”

There was silence, he pushed your shoulders to look at your face that was red right now. “Wait...did I hear that right.” Jean just stood there, and was taken aback by what you just said. You were a blushing mess right now, and looked away. “Nothing Babe!! Let’s go to sleep now, okay?”. You tried to hurry back to your shared bed but he held onto you from behind again.

“Say it again...you made me suffer now with your stupid prank, so you’re going to repeat it! I heard it!” He was holding you so tightly and Jean was not going to let you go until you say it again.

Y/N gets all red and shy, while Jean is just too excited and takes this to his advantage. When you said it again after he was persuading you, he grabbed your hips and picked you up and you both were on your shared bed and he kept tickling you. Love and laughter filled the room and that melted Jean. He loved seeing you laugh, smile and being happy, it meant the world to him.

He showed you and gave you so much love that night you both did not sleep that evening.

There Was Only One Bed part 2

AOT boys x Reader (I added more people because wow the first part was so fun to write)

Plot: You and him came back from a mission that left you both insanely tired. It’s too late to go home so you two decide to check into a hotel. There’s only one room left, with only one bed 😳

Levi

lets be real

Levi needs some damn sleep

and he was looking forward to resting after such as long day

but when he heard there was only one bed he kind of just

sighed

of course something has to happen when he just wants to relax

after seeing the cards he was dealt with he felt the most gentlemanly thing to do was offer you the bed

“Here, go to sleep in the bed. I’ll take the floor.”

“But Levi, you’re exhausted!” you pleaded

“I barely even sleep at night the floor is fine.”

not gonna lie it is hard to argue with someone like Levi

but you would not let him sleep on the floor

“You can take half of the bed, I don’t mind,” you told him hoping he’d take the offer

it was late and he knew he’d probably not sleep much at all like usual

he accepted your offer

but only settled at the very edge of the bed

it didn’t look comfortable lol but is Levi ever comfortable

you just shrugged it off before telling him goodnight

that is until you had a nightmare

you dreamt that you were the sole survivor when you and the scouts went to attack Marley

sometimes fellow humans are scarier than titans

you awoke to Levi shaking you concerned

“Hey, you were having a nightmare, are you okay?” he asked genuinely worried

that nightmare was too realistic as you felt tears roll down your cheek

Levi tenderly wiped your tears and felt his heart break at how warm they were and how many there were

“You’re safe here, I’ll make sure of it,” he said as he gingerly caressed your cheek

you slept peacefully later that night safe with Levi by your side 

Bertolt

when Bert saw that there was one bed he immediately felt flustered despite how tired he was

he kinda became a stammering mess

“Y/N, it’s okay you can have it!” 

“I can have what?” you questioned since he just blurted that sentence out

“The... bed” he muttered as he looked at the ground

he didn’t have to make the situation this much more awkward yet here we are

Bertolt being himself lol

but after hearing that he wanted you to have the bed you immediately offered it to him

“No you should have the bed! You’ve done so much today you need to rest,” you said

“No you should have the bed! I sleep really weird so I don’t want to bother you,” he admitted

how weird could he sleep?

maybe he snored? that’s not that weird

you insisted you two could share the bed and place a pillow in between you two

which he reluctantly agreed

it was late after all

you said your goodnights and you drifted off to sleep

until

A LEG LANDS ON YOUR FACE

“AHH!” you jolt awake shoving the leg off your face

and lo and behold

Bertolt is sleeping sideways with his limbs spread all over

“Hey! wake up!!”

“Huh, OH IM SORRY!” Bertolt immediately retracted

“See I told you I sleep weirdly,” he muttered

yeah even the pillow didn’t save you from his legs

“Bertolt it’s totally fine you can’t control it”

this time you both drifted off to sleep

until you felt an arm around you

you opened an eye and yup Bertolt was sleeping weirdly again

but at least his arms are finally around you 

Porco

Porco does come off as an angry guy

he just gets annoyed easily by incompetence 

so when he saw there was only one bed he felt pretty annoyed by the situation

how could they fuck up this badly?

you could sense Porco’s annoyance and exhaustion 

so you decided to offer him the bed

“It’s okay, I’ll be fine on the floor,” you said

“No, I’m not going to let you sleep on the ground because of the hotel’s dumb mistake.”

“I insist! I’ll be-”

“Just take the other half of the bed.”

he did sound pissed but you could tell he cared that you got a good rest after the long day you two had

you climbed into your half of the bed

“Hey, sorry for snapping. I just couldn’t let you sleep on the ground like that,” he said sheepishly as he climbed into his half

you assured him that everything was fine 

“I just can’t believe they managed to get it this wrong! Some hotel they are, I ought to write them a bad review. This is not how I wanted to get in bed with you,” he rambled on

that last part though

“Um, Porco?” you asked feeling flustered

“Hmm, what, OH! Um, you didn’t hear that right?” 

you could tell he was flustered as well judging by his flushed cheeks and wide eyes

he didn’t mean to let that out

but thanks to his exhaustion he was being a bit too honest tonight

The remaining Ackermans were dangerous. They were a threat to your and your comrades’ titan powers. The goal was to get close to him, to find his weaknesses and strengths. To know his ins and outs like the back of your hand. And then you’d have the advantage. Then you would kill him.

That plan had obviously backfired.

You stood on top of the wall now, alongside Reiner and Bertholdt after they’d just exposed the entire mission to Eren and the others. You could feel the static in the air from a few yards away. They were about to transform.

That wasn’t the problem, though. The problem was that the duo was looking right at you, waiting for you to slash your hand and join in. To rush to their side and eat Eren while you had the chance. Then you could all go home and be celebrated as heroes.

Instead, you were staring back at them - a big, sweaty, teary-eyed, nervous mess.

It was time to betray your homeland.

“I’m sorry Reiner, Bertholdt…” you sob, pulling your hand to your mouth, “but my loyalties lie elsewhere, now.” You rip your teeth through your hand.

Three bolts of lightning shake the wall simultaneously. You emerge in your strongest form - the jaw titan. Your titan had a hardened face like a skeleton with an elongated jaw that stuck out like a wolf. Sharp ridges lined your mouth like fangs, and bright red orbs glowed through your eye sockets. A mane with a color that mimicked your hair grew down from your neck.

You were terrifying. Which is why you needed to get the hell away from these scouts before they decided you needed to die.

You had no interest in defeating Reiner and Bertholdt, that was Eren’s problem now. You were more concerned about the captain on the other side of the wall. He could certainly handle himself, but Zeke had quite the throwing arm. Things could go south very quickly.

You launch yourself down the wall, using your giant talons to slow your fall. You scan the field as you descend, trying to find any sign of Levi.

A voice booms your name to the left of you as you reach the ground.

It’s Pieck in her titan form.

Pieck was like a sister to you. It’s been so long since you’d seen her. You feel a tinge of regret now. Pieck was never going to see you the same again.

You narrow your red eyes at her and charge with full force. Your jaws snap at her heels as she whips around and runs full speed across the field. You finally see who she was running to - Levi and Zeke. Zeke was cut out of his titan form and being held by the hair in Levi's hand.

You pick up your pace, grazing Pieck's legs with your sharp teeth. She stumbles when the two of you go over an indent in the ground, only a few yards from your destination. Her mishap allows you to sink your teeth into her legs. She turns around to bite your neck in response, crushing your weakest spot. You jolt your head, flinging her away from you.

She gets up fast after hitting the ground, continuing at full speed toward Zeke and Levi. You are quick to go after her again, but slow down once you see Levi drop Zeke and bolt out of Pieck's way.

Did he really just give up Zeke that easily?

Suddenly, you feel someone cutting through your titan's nape.

Your vision goes dark.

Out of the darkness, you’re thrown into an old memory. Ah yes, you remember now. All of it is so vivid, right in front of you again.

You’d sneak away to the Captain's office at night frequently. You’d tell yourself these visits were for the mission, to aid you in knowing your victim a little better. “He isn’t!” you struggle, “And I’m more clever than these sluggish devil bastards! I’m getting all the information I need!”

“Guys, keep it down!” Bertholdt whispers, frantically looking around to make sure no one was eavesdropping.

Reiner let’s go of you as you topple to the ground in front of him, your hands and knees landing on the cold brick floors below.

“Kill him faster,” Reiner whispers. The two of them make their ways back to their rooms in silence.

You finally stand up when you can’t hear their footsteps anymore, dusting your knees off and collecting your nerves.

You were the oldest titan shifter on the mission from Marley, quite a bit older than Reiner and Bertholdt. You were supposed to be bossing these little shits, not the other way around. But it seemed they were always calling the shots. You deserved to carry out your particular mission however you pleased.

Levi's door is cracked open a bit further down the hall, allowing some faint light to spill into the hall. And inside, there he was as usual, sitting at his desk with a tea and reading some boring literature that you could never understand.

“Long day?” he questions without looking up from his book.

“Yeah,” you sigh, plopping your body down onto a leather sofa near his desk. You lean back into it, reaching your arms up to stretch out. “Thanks for always letting me join you in here. It helps me de-stress.”

You had made a routine of coming in here after a fateful night in the dining hall, after you and Levi realized you could click really well in conversation. You two had shared your entire life stories with each other by now - yours obviously contorted to fit a reality that didn't consist of you being raised in Liberio. You'd grown very close to him, way closer than you had with anyone else in the Scouts. Even though he'd never met the real you, you could relate to him - his struggles and his past especially. His cynical personality had a strange and almost addicting way of brightening your day, and you'd always make sure to tease him for it. Not to mention how handsome he was.
