Prologue
They’ve always been told that they’ve been friends since the moment they were born, and it was difficult to argue against it because it really did feel like it’s been a lifetime of friendship. There has never been a moment where one isn’t with the other. It had never been just Eren, and it had never been just Mikasa. No matter where they were and when it was, it was always (and always will be) Eren and Mikasa. The girl, Mikasa, even claimed to have known her friend Eren in her life before, and although he'd never admit it in front of anyone but Mikasa (in fear that his older brother would make fun of it), he did too. At 28, their friendship definitely had quite a few ups and downs, but if they learned one thing during their years of being best friends it was that they both wanted one thing more than anything in the world: to be with each other. That was it. It didn’t matter, when, where, with who, or for what reason. Just to be in the presence of one another was enough to make them happy.
27 Years Ago (4 months old)
Eren and Mikasa were born just barely two months apart, so it was no surprise that they wouldn’t even remember meeting as babies. As their parents were good friends, the couples jokingly tried to make their children be friends too, by making sure they saw each other frequently. Mikasa and Eren’s moms held their babies across from one another so they could see each other again. It was the first time they officially met, excluding the time the Ackerman family came to visit Carla when she gave birth to Eren. The moment baby Eren had set his big, forest green eyes onto Mikasa’s brown ones, he had tried to reach out to her, going as far as untangling himself from the red scarf (a gift given at his baby shower, though because of his size, could not be used as an actual scarf yet) that his mom used to swaddle him. Unfortunately, from his lack of motor skills, the little girl was awoken by Eren's hand. Mikasa shrieked, upset that she was pulled from her sleep. Zeke, Eren's senior by ten years, freaked, immediately apologizing to Mikasa's mom about Eren. "I'm so sorry Auntie! I'm sure Eren didn't mean it. Please don't be mad."
The woman just let out a light-hearted laugh. "It's alright Zeke. Look, Mikasa is fine now. Besides, her and Eren seem to be getting along pretty well," she said as she watched the two babies looking at each other, arms flailing like an octopus's legs in an attempt to reach each other. Mikasa had gotten a hold of an end of Eren’s swaddle scarf and was lightly tugging at it, while Eren continued to reach forward until his small hand lightly touched Mikasa’s forehead. They were giggling, almost as if they were keeping a secret.
23 Years Ago (5 years old)
It was their first day of first grade. They had been smart enough to go to school a year early. Yes, they. Mikasa refused to start school without Eren, and he refused to go without Mikasa. They were a team, never leaving each other’s side. The teachers were a bit surprised at first when they refused to sit with different people, but they soon got the message. Many actually found it quite cute. Eren had many girls crushing on him (yes, he was a very cute boy, and eventually grew up to be a handsome man). Although the girls didn’t completely understand their emotions at that age, they refused to believe that the cute boy prefered Mikasa over all of them. This of course was bad for Mikasa since it led her to having enemies from a young age. Even if she didn’t need total protection from them, she still had Eren to help. He was, however, useless when his own fangirls chased him around the playground. Though he always proudly claimed "As if I would even think of hitting a girl,” Mikasa was there to help him out when they chased him.
Not even a week in, Eren had met a boy named Armin-- a short and shy young blonde, who always seemed to be in the little library corner of the classroom. He was as smart as Misaka and Eren, if not smarter, therefore he also started a year early. The older boys were constantly making fun of Armin for his short stature, yet what caught Eren’s eyes the most was how no matter the power difference, Armin did not seem to back down. Even as the bullies picked and teased at him, he held his head high.
When Eren approached one day to ask why, Armin would simply state “I haven’t lost yet if I refuse to back down.” And it was that bravery, even in the most dire of situations, that had Eren grinning.
Hands on his hips, he announced, “my name is Eren, but you probably already knew that. And that girl over there,” Eren paused to point at Mikasa, who was watching from across the room to make sure Eren wasn’t getting himself into trouble, “is Mikasa. Let’s all be friends. Mikasa! C’mere! This is Armin and he’s super cool and smart.” After gesturing her over, he turns back to Armin with a grin on his face. “Mikasa is super cool too. She’s smart like you, and really strong. She’s my best friend, and I’ve known her my entire life. I just know we’ll all get along,” he said happily while readjusting his scarf.
And right he was, for that was the beginning of the trio’s epic friendship.
21 Years Ago (7 years old)
He took her hand, and led her to his horse. Just like how the leaves were swept away by the wind, so were they. If you watched, you’d see the horse getting smaller and smaller as they rode farther away. But maybe, if you listened, you would hear the princess’s and prince’s joyful laughter- a truly happy ever after ending for them.
“No, no, no, no!” That’s not what happened in my dream! If I remember correctly, we lived in a castle!” Eren exclaimed. He didn’t know where Mikasa got that dream before.
“Well, I’m just telling you what I saw in my dream. Maybe you’re the one with bad memory,” she snapped back, a frown on her face as she lightly tugged on the red scarf he always kept around his neck.
For the past couple months, they had been dreaming of being together in a number of lives. They often fought about them in front of Armin, constantly asking him which one of the two dreamt the right dream. Poor Armin. Luckily, the boy had a knack for reading any and every book he could find, and he decided to do something about it before the fight could escalate again.
“Maybe you two remembered different parts of your old life, and maybe even different lives. You never know, you could have been a prince or princess more than once,” he proposed.
Mikasa’s brows quirk in confusion. “You think so?” she asked.
Eren, on the other hand, fully trusted the other boy, knowing just how smart he was from all the reading he’s done. Grinning, he proudly stated,“Don’t doubt Armin, Mikasa. He’s super smart. I bet he’s right with just about everything.”
“Really?” the girl excitedly asked. “Wait, so Armin, do you know how babies are made?”
Omake:
Eren: “Of course he does! He read it in a book and told me. A stork plucks a baby from a pond and delivers it at night.”
19 Years Ago (9 years old)
“We were super cool ninjas with powers! Like Naruto!” Eren exclaimed, jumping, kicking, and punching the air as if he was fighting an imaginary person. His red scarf danced and swayed along with him as he energetically moved around. He briefly paused to glance at Mikasa, excited to see her reaction, when he saw her expression. It had his previously bright, green eyes dulling into a light grey color. Furrowing his eyebrows, he asked, “You okay Mikasa?”
She sat there, a worried look on her face. “Eren, will my mom be okay?” Even though she was young, she knew something went wrong when her mom had her. Her mom was always happy, yet sad when talking about Misaka's birth. She overheard one night from her parents that having Mikasa was very difficult for them, let alone having another child.
This question always broke his heart- no matter how many times he’s heard it. He stared at her for a moment before slowly walking to her, unwrapping his scarf off his neck. He stopped right in front of her-- her head right below his chin-- before taking his scarf in two hands and wrapping it around her neck instead. Finishing up the last loop, he messily placed the last few inches on top of her head before taking a seat next to her on the couch.
“I don’t know Mikasa. I don’t know. But you’re going to be okay, I promise.”
Eren had said “you’re” not “it’s,” and she couldn't be more thankful. The little boy could not promise that everything would be okay, but he could promise that she would. Why? Because she still had a home. Because he was there. And he always would be.
“I’m right here. And if you ever need more comfort, whenever and wherever we are, I’ll just wrap that scarf around you again,” he stated confidently. He hugged Mikasa, who in turn hugged him back before they laid down facing each other.
“You’ll really do it? You’ll wrap the scarf around me just like you did in the dream I told you I had last night? That one’s my favorite dream-- but I like all of our other dreams too. Promise me we’ll always talk about them. No matter how old we are, we’ll still tell them to each other, okay? Promise me,” Mikasa prompted as she rested her hand in between them.
It was no surprise when Eren gave her a small smile while stating “Promise,” before reaching out with his hand to interlock his fingers with Mikasa’s.
18 Years Ago (10 years old)
At ten years old, Eren was starting to believe what the other boys in his grade were saying about girls. At first, he tried to fight back and ignore their stupid antics, but he hated the fact that people thought Mikasa was stronger than him. He didn’t want her protection; he wanted to protect her.
“Why does she always speak for you, anyway?” one of them would ask.
“She’s a girl; shouldn’t you be stronger?” another would add.
“Don’t forget that girls have cooties.”
“She’s just plain scary too.”
Eren could feel his cheeks heat up at the comments, and if the boys were paying close attention, they would’ve seen his eyes turn a stormy grey. Whether it was from embarrassment of being below Mikasa, or anger of someone daring to badmouth her, he didn’t know.
“Don’t say that about Mikasa. Girls should be strong, and there’s nothing wrong with not being quiet and dainty,” he loudly proclaimed. But while his heart was burning to continue defending Mikasa, a part of him couldn’t help but hate the situation he was in. Why was Mikasa always the one to protect him, and why did it bother him so much?
Weeks had passed, and Mikasa noticed how Eren seemed to be avoiding her. Was it what everyone was saying about them? Or was it something else? The only other thing she could think of was when she gave him a nice punch (a well-deserved punch at that) for being an idiot and getting into trouble again. Because of him, they both had to stay in the classroom writing apology letters during recess-- it’s not like she was going to let him fight those bullies alone. But he couldn’t be THAT mad at her, could he? The jerk sort of deserved it. It broke her. But, Mikasa being Mikasa, she decided to confront him today.
“Eren, why are you ignoring me? Are you okay? Did something happen?” she asked.
“I’m not ignoring you, okay? Why can’t you just let me be and do my own thing. You’re not my mom, and I'm not your kid brother. I don’t need you around all the time, and I definitely don’t always need your help.” Eren spat, irritated.
Just as he was about to leave, Mikasa spoke again. “So you’re saying that I’m not important.”
Eren, caught off guard, froze. “No! I never--”
“You’re saying that those other boys, your other friends, are more important than me and that what they think matters more than me.” Mikasa clarified, tears starting to swell up in her eyes.
...1 second...
...2 seconds…
Gears were turning in Eren’s head, realizing what he’d almost done to their friendship-- what he’d almost done to Mikasa, his Mikasa, his best friend. He could feel his anger subside, and Mikasa saw his grey eyes slowly brighten to green. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it that way. Why don’t you come over today? We can play tag and hide and seek… Or I could even play with the dolls you made. You made one of me, right? Just the two of us. I promise this won’t happen again.”
“Good. I like Auntie Carla’s cooking. We’re walking home from school together, okay? Like old times,” she simply stated before walking away. She was not going to take any chances of Eren saying no. Of course, Mikasa expected his previous response. As much as Eren had been avoiding her, she truly trusted him to always come back. He always did. She could bet her life (and heart) on it.
17 Years Ago (11 years old)
Lunch was going well for the first day of 6th grade. It was an odd transition from eating with classmates in their grade level to being able to eat with just about anyone that attended their school. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were finishing up their lunch when they heard a voice.
“Your long black hair is… really beautiful, by the way,” a boy with ash-brown hair shyly says to Mikasa. His blush was evident on his light skin and he could barely look at the girl. His name was Jean Kirstein, a new classmate of the trio’s; and he annoyed Eren to no end. Who did this guy think he was? It was their first year at South Paradis Junior High-- there were so many other elementary schools that fed into here that it was unlikely that they’d know all their classmates. And yet, this boy was already coming straight up to Mikasa and complimenting her hair. Mikasa was a rare beauty and Eren’s best friend; she deserved the best and only the very best. He wasn’t going to let some horse face of a boy take a chance with her.
Armin noticed Eren’s frown and how his eyes were a dark grey. He honestly considered teasing him: “Of course you’d be the petty, jealous type.” That’s all he had to say. It was fairly easy, and Armin was quite sure that voicing that thought would have Eren in a stuttering mess trying to deny it all. He’d probably be so busy denying it that he would’ve spent more time arguing with Armin than acting on his jealousy. Though against his better judgement, Armin kept his mouth shut, allowing Eren to speak up.
“Mikasa,” Eren said softly as he grabbed a piece of her hair, “aren’t you trying out for the martial arts team? You should cut your hair. You could get into an accident.” Eren didn’t even bother glancing at Jean; he opted for keeping his gaze on Mikasa as he waited for an answer.
“Yeah… you’re right. I should probably cut it,” she stated as she absentmindedly grabs the same strand Eren was holding, their fingers grazing one another in the process. Eren would never admit it, but his fingers burned right where his and Mikasa’s briefly touched. The physical contact didn’t last long, but he could still feel the warmth she emulated when he went to bed that night. He didn’t know why, though.
13 Years Ago (15 years old)
It wasn’t until sophomore year of high school that Eren realized just why he felt that way-- why he always had the urge to protect Mikasa to the point that her being stronger than him made him angry, why he was always hit with an overwhelming feeling of jealousy whenever Jean was anywhere near her, why his skin started burning at her slightest touch. It wasn’t until sophomore year of high school that Eren realized just why he started to look at his best friend a little differently, why she always lingered in his thoughts a bit longer and a bit more than everyone else.
He was, unfortunately, stupid enough to make homecoming plans without Mikasa. Last year, the two of them and Armin had all gone together, but Armin was finally going with Annie this year. It was of the utmost obviousness that those two had something going ever since she transferred to their school in 7th grade. Annie was a quiet girl who usually kept to herself, maybe occasionally speaking with Bertholdt and Reiner since they transferred from the same school. But otherwise, it seemed as if only Armin was able to break through her shell. It was honestly quite ironic how Eren and Mikasa often teased Armin for his incapability to express his feelings, when he could’ve easily pointed out theirs. The ache in his heart when Annie was away --the way he constantly missed her and wished she was around-- was no different from what Eren and Mikasa secretly told Armin when they were apart. How could Eren and Mikasa not know?
“Historia asked me to homecoming,” Eren had told Mikasa one night after they both respectively finished martial arts and baseball practice. He could see the small glare she gave him, as she stared at him for what felt like hours without saying a word.
“Okay, then just ask her out.” Mikasa didn’t even try to hide her annoyance.
“It’s not like that. I don’t-- There’s nothing-- We’re not like that. I think she’s just pretty bummed that Ymir moved and needs a friend. You know she doesn’t have that many ‘cause her dad’s been sheltering her. You can come with. I told her that I was planning on going with you,” Eren replied. It’s not like he wanted Mikasa to feel left out or unimportant. One of his friends needed his help, and he would never-- could never-- turn his back on a friend. They were the most important people in the world to him, almost on the same level as his parents, Armin, and Mikasa. Of course he would be there if one of them ever needed a hand.
And it was because Mikasa knew him so well that she tried to control herself. Mikasa wanted to argue-- wanted to tell Eren that there were plenty of other people Historia could’ve asked. She had Sasha, Connie, and Jean too. She could’ve even asked her. Why did it have to be specifically Eren? She was jealous, she acknowledged that, because all she ever wanted was to be near Eren. The thought of him belonging to some other girl hurt so badly. For him to have another home besides her, for her to not be able to call him her home-- she didn’t know if she wanted to even be alive if that were to happen. Eren was everything to her. But another part of her just wanted to let it be. If Eren was happy, and as his best friend, shouldn’t she be happy for him too? All she ever wanted was to be near him. Romantic relationship or not, she already had that. Eren cared about her and Armin more than anyone in the world; she has everything she’s asked for. Shouldn’t that be enough?
“No, it’s ok. You don’t need to explain. She needs a friend, and I think you should go. Jean and I were talking in class today. He actually offered for us to join their group because Sasha and Connie wanted to do a whole extravagant group meetup, with pictures and food and everything. I’ll just tag along with them,” her lips drew into a straight line in an attempt to smile. She knew Eren well enough to know that he knew --that she knew-- that he knew that it was most definitely not okay. But to her dismay, neither acknowledged the elephant in the room nor the growing tension between them.
Eren didn’t want to. He was too busy feeling the blood rushing through his ears at the mention of Jean asking Mikasa out. There was only one other time he remembered feeling this jealous-- it had been all that time ago, when they first met Jean back in 6th grade. The horse face had told Mikasa her long, black hair was beautiful, and while Eren agreed, it pissed him off to no end that someone other than him was looking at Mikasa. Of course, it was no surprise that many boys and girls were looking at her-- she was beautiful and strong and everything that a woman should be. But having random people look at her didn’t compare to the jealousy he felt when it came to Jean. Eren wanted Mikasa all to himself. But what right did he have to whine and complain when he was the one to bring up taking Historia to the dance? Jealousy was an ugly feeling, and he hated how accustomed he had gotten to feeling it. Stupid Jean, stupid world, stupid homecoming, stupid him. Oh how he hated himself more than ever for putting himself in that situation. All he ever wanted was to be with Mikasa, and here he was doing the opposite-- here he was starting a small rift between them. One stupid statement, and he already felt far, far away from home.
12 Years Ago (16 years old)
It was concerning, really, how months later, Eren and Mikasa still couldn’t address the divide between them. While the two often got into small arguments before, they were usually solved within a week, if not immediately. This was the first time that it ever lasted more than a few days, if this could even be considered an argument. They were talking, but something felt off-- both of them could feel it. Mikasa didn’t want to push boundaries. Eren was still her friend; he was safe and nearby, so could she really complain? As for Eren, he could feel the ache of Mikasa’s absence run deeper than his heart. It made him sick in a way he couldn’t completely describe— like he was homesick or something.
While he saw her everyday at school, she often paired up with Armin or Jean instead. While he ate lunch with her at the same table as their friend group, she usually spent her time listening to Sasha ramble on and on about meat and food and the so-called cute senior in her culinary class named Niccolo. Even when he was sitting right next to her in the driver’s seat as he dropped her home after practice, their conversations ran shallow. He missed their inside jokes and their talks about their dreams. For months, he’d been wanting to tell her his recurring dream of one of their past lives. How every night, his sleep would send him to the peaceful mountains of Switzerland, where he lived in a tiny cottage with her. They were alone-- isolated from society-- and they often needed to fish, hunt, and gather their own food, but they were together. They were together and they were happy, and God help him, that’s all he ever wanted.
He wondered that of the many other dreams she’s had of what they presumed to be their past lives, if she saw that same dream too. He hoped so. He hoped that when he was away, she felt that same ache too. He hoped that in the same way no one could ever replace her in his heart, no one would ever replace him in hers. Call him selfish, but he wanted Mikasa all to himself-- wanted to be the only person that would ever claim her heart. He didn’t want anyone-- not Jean, not even Armin-- to have Mikasa. So why was he letting her slip through his fingers?
It wasn’t until months later, near the end of summer, that the two finally resolved whatever issue was going on. With school out, Historia rarely saw anybody outside her friends, and even then, she was only really comfortable around Eren-- only he knew the pain of missing someone. Historia knew he was suffering. He never told her-- never really told anyone except Armin-- how he felt about Mikasa, but Historia could see the longing in his eyes whenever he gazed at Mikasa and the sadness they held whenever he talked about her. And it was for this reason that she refused to leave Eren alone. He needed a friend, and so did she. There was no way she’d abandon him-- no way she would abandon anyone in need.
Over summer, the two started volunteering at homeless shelters and orphanages. They’d occasionally invite the whole group over: Sasha, Connie, Jean, Mikasa, Armin… There were days that the seven of them would volunteer during the day and go out for dinner in the evening to catch up. But the amount of time that the group met up was nothing in comparison to the amount of time Historia and Eren spent together. It was evident in the way they talked at their group outings, and it didn’t help with the growing tension between Eren and Mikasa either.
Seeing them together, seeing them so happy-- seeing Eren so happy without her-- had Mikasa feeling things. Was she missing something-- a component or aspect that maybe was pushing Eren away from her? Or was she too overbearing? What did Historia have that she didn’t? There must be a reason why Eren seemed to be wanting to spend more time with the other girl as opposed to her. She missed seeing Eren’s smile and his happy, green eyes. She was both angry and hurt, and while she knew she had no right to speak, for she was Eren’s best friend, not his lover, she could only take so much before snapping.
She hadn’t meant to say it; at least, not out loud and most definitely not in front of Eren, but her jealousy got the better of her. Historia and Eren were once again telling the group about some project they went on the other week to help orphans in a different country. They were laughing and reminiscing about the troubles they went through during their time there when Mikasa spoke.
“We get it. You guys had a great time,” her voice dripping with disdain as she glared at Historia. It wasn’t until Mikasa noticed everyone staring at her that she realized the rudeness of what she had said. Hesitantly, she said “Sorry. I’ve, uhh, I’ve had a rough few… months. I’m just gonna go,” before hastily leaving the table.
“Wait!” Historia called after her.
“We haven’t even ordered anything yet, aren’t you hungry?” Jean added.
She ignored them both, though, and opted to continue walking out of the restaurant, even as the others tried to call out after her.
Armin used that distraction to nudge Eren’s side. “Eren,” he whispered sternly, grinding his teeth together. “It’s now or never. Don’t let it get worse. Are you really going to let her go?”
And it was because Armin knew both Mikasa AND Eren so well that he didn’t doubt that it was all he needed to say to get the guy moving. Not even a second later, Eren was scrambling off his chair and past his friends as he hurriedly followed Mikasa.
“Mikasa! Mikasa, wait. What was that? What’s wrong?” he asked. One of his hands was gripping her arm and holding her in place. He had tugged at it lightly so that Mikasa was slightly facing him, and his eyes desperately searched hers for an answer.
“Nothing,” she stated, trying (but failing) to keep her composure. It’s not like she could come out and say “Oh, I’m jealous of Historia. I hate how she spends a lot of time with you because I secretly love you, Eren.” She could barely admit that fact herself, let alone confess it to someone else.
Eren stared at her in wait, desperately wanting to know what they had and where they stood. Anyone watching could’ve easily seen it in his eyes. “Please,” he begged when she remained stubbornly quiet. “Please tell me what’s wrong. Don’t you miss the way things used to be? What’s happened between us?”
“Historia--”
“Historia and I are just friends! I already told you that, back during homecoming. Why did we drift apart just because of that? Why did it seem like you weren’t interested in talking to me anymore? Why did we stop hanging out everyday?” Eren urged Mikasa to answer. He was already fighting back tears, when one question that had been nagging at him the past few months made its way out his mouth. “Why did we stop talking about our dreams?! Didn’t we always promise to talk about them? Have you given up on a useless idiot like me?”
Seeing Eren cry stopped Mikasa in her tracks. She stopped trying to get her arm out of Eren’s grip and settled for looking at him straight in the eyes, near tears herself. “Eren,” she says with soft urgency. It was only then, when he felt her sad gaze on him and lack of resistance against his grip, did Eren completely let go of Mikasa. She grabbed both his shoulders, giving him the slightest shake. “Don’t say that about yourself. Please. You’re not a useless idiot. It’s just-- I… really missed you. I’m sorry. I know you told me that you and Historia were just friends, but I didn’t like how jealous I felt. I wanted you only by my side, because it’s always been Mikasa and Eren, and Eren and Mikasa, and seeing you with someone else-- I… I don’t know. I guess, I’m not used to having to be apart from you. More than anything in the world, all I want is to be near you. When you kept visiting Historia and spending the summer with her, it just felt like you didn’t need me around anymore, or that you maybe didn’t want me around,” Mikasa confessed, her blush evident.
If Eren heard her correctly, then maybe she was feeling the same ache that he’d been feeling. Maybe, just maybe, she did love him the way that he loved her-- not as a sibling nor a best friend, but something more. He raised both his hands to grab her face, never breaking eye contact.
She could see how his previously gray eyes had started shifting over to green. Mikasa lifted her hands to hold onto his wrists needing to stabilize herself, as she felt like she would faint at any moment with the way Eren was holding her. Since when did his touch start making her knees so weak? And since when did his gaze start making her self-conscious and nervous?
“Mikasa,” Eren whispered, closing his eyes. He didn’t think he’d have the courage to look at her when their faces were close-- so close that their foreheads were nearly touching and he could feel the warmth of her shaky breaths on his face. “I’ll always want you with me,” he whispered softly as he tried to lean in. He wanted to kiss her-- wanted to know what it’d feel like to have her lips on his-- but what if he was wrong about his assumptions? What if Mikasa didn’t feel the same ache in her heart as he did? What if he was just like family to her and nothing more? If he kissed her and he was wrong, it’d for sure ruin their friendship, and the rift between them that they were currently trying to heal would be damaged for good.
He was too busy worrying about all that to realize that Mikasa, too, wanted to kiss him. He didn’t even realize the slight tilt up of her head nor the way her fingers lightly squeezed his wrists before she stopped in realization that he wasn’t actually going to kiss her. Neither of them wanted to make the first move in fear of ruining what they had-- whatever it was. And so instead, Eren went limp and rested his forehead against hers, eyes still closed, and Mikasa did the same. They didn’t move until Mikasa’s stomach growled.
“I knew you were hungry. It’s 7 o’clock and you usually eat an early brunch,” Eren laughed.
“Eren, your eating habits are worse than mine. You’re probably hungrier than me. Let’s go back inside,” Mikasa snapped back with a smile.
Things felt normal again and both were the happiest they’ve been in months. Their friendship was okay. Romantic relationship or not, they were still Eren and Mikasa, and Mikasa and Eren-- they were still each other's best friend. They were together, and to them, that’s all that ever mattered in the world. They were home.
10 Years Ago (18 years old)
Many moments from the next few years were filled with awkward silence or slight tension, ones caused by the fight they had at 16. It was like the rift never fully healed, and that made it much easier to get into small fights. Maybe it was because much of the problem itself never went away. The arguments grew from insecurities and miscommunication; they were two teenagers stupidly in love, yet too scared to say anything. Regardless, it was Eren and Mikasa, and so the fights never lasted too long.
It was the last weeks of summer before the two had to go off to college, and unlike two summers ago, Eren made sure that they were making every last moment count. From getting ice cream to hiking at nearby state parks, Eren came up with plans to hangout every single day. He had to, especially because they’d be spending the next four years apart. Both were originally going to Purdue University, along with quite a few of their friends. Eren was going for aviation, Mikasa for elementary education, Armin for political science with a minor in oceanography, and Jean for business.
Unfortunately, times were cruel and news channels were filled with stories of a possible onslaught of World War III. It seemed surreal, but the growing tensions across many countries of the world had many people worrying if it was actually possible. Eren, in particular, found it interesting enough to change his mind about college. He still wanted to fly-- wanted to know the feeling of freedom-- but first and foremost, he felt a strong duty to protect his country because it’s where the people he loved lived. If the possibility of an oncoming World War III was true, Eren wanted to be prepared. He still hadn’t brought it up to Mikasa or Armin, his decision being so last minute.
He had spent countless nights contemplating on whether he should go or not. If he entered the military, he’d be signing his life away for four years. That’s four years of not being able to always see Mikasa, assuming he’d be able to hide it from her. He just had to keep his decision a secret long enough for Mikasa to not be able to follow him in. Eren knew that she wouldn’t hesitate to drop everything if it meant being able to be with and protect him, but if Eren cared about her the way he claims he does, shouldn’t he be protecting her too? They should be equals, not whatever this was. Just this once, he wanted to be the one protecting, even if it meant being apart from her.
And so, that’s how he came to the decision the night before Decision Day to enter the military as opposed to Purdue. It broke his heart and worried him to no end that for the next four years, he’d be far away from Mikasa-- far away from home. What if something happened while he was gone? Something bad, and he wasn’t there to help her through it? Sure, Jean and Armin would be there, and Mikasa would surely meet other people too. But would they be able to be there for her in the way she deserved? He knew Mikasa better than anyone else, even Armin, so could anyone really live up to his expectations of what he wanted for Mikasa? All these questions ran through his head as he drove Mikasa back home from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, another one of the trips he planned.
Mikasa, not one to not notice Eren’s changes in behavior, glanced over at the driver’s seat, wondering why Eren suddenly got quiet. “Eren?”
At the sound of her voice, Eren was immediately pulled out of his thoughts. But one look at her, and he was filled with sorrow again. Soon, he’d have to leave her and it’d be another four years or so before they would be able to return to the old days, if going back to the old days was even possible. For all he knew, this could be the very last time they’d talk to each other like this again. These last few days could be the very last time that Eren and Mikasa, and Mikasa and Eren are a thing. He wanted to make the most out of it-- whatever time he had left. “Mikasa,” he stated before pulling over to the side of the road. He wanted to be sure he could clearly see her face, without any distractions. “Let's get out of here,” he continued, looking her in the eye.
She stared at him, observed his movements, the color of his eyes. They were a mix of green and gray, much lighter than his usual forest green eyes that signaled his happiness, but not exactly the stormy grey eyes he had when he was angry or sad either. It confused her, because in the rare times that she didn’t know what he was feeling, his eye color usually gave it away. But this time, it’s like he was both happy and sad. “What do you mean?”
Eren was practically quivering in fear that she’d be angry or reject what he was about to offer. But he kept reminding himself that these last few days would be the last time he’d see her in a long while. They’d be apart for the first time since they were born, and he wasn’t sure how either of them would be able to handle it. He looked away to gather his nerves before turning back around and taking a deep breath.
“Don’t be mad with what I’m about to say. Please.” Eren waited for her nod before continuing. “The night before decision day, I actually decided I was going to be joining the military-- the army. And before you even think of telling me you’ll join too, don’t. You needed to decide by decision day, so there’s no point in joining now if we’re going to be in different regiments. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I just wanted to do this to protect everyone, while not influencing any of your decisions to pursue your dreams…” he paused again, waiting for Mikasa’s reaction.
The girl wanted to scold him for making such a hasty and dangerous decision. She didn’t know where to begin. The military was a four-year commitment, which meant that they’d be apart for four years. Would she be able to handle that? They had never been apart for anywhere near that long. And what if the military changes him? Even if he didn’t get deployed, he’d still have to go through basic training and the like. She had heard stories of how the military, even just camp, changed people. What if some part of him never comes back from that? Would he still be her Eren-- the same Eren?
“Mikasa, stop thinking about it. Let’s just… enjoy what time we have left of summer break, okay? I told you this because I was hoping you’d say yes to what I’m about to ask you. For the last few days of summer, let’s go to Switzerland, in Crans-Montana-- in between the mountains where we went on that band trip junior year. Remember how Armin and I climbed the balcony on the third story of the building, just so we could spend the night talking about the most random things? We stayed up till sunrise and nearly got caught staying together in the same bedroom,” he chuckled. “Let’s go there again. Just the two of us. Mikasa, come with me. It wouldn’t be home with you.”
Mikasa, who was shocked and deep in thought, could only manage to give him a small smile before taking the opportunity to reach over the console and grab one of Eren’s hands. “One condition: you wrap this scarf around me one last time, okay?”
6 Years Ago (22 years old)
“Hey Mikasa, have you heard from Eren? I don’t think I’ve received any letters from him in a while,” Armin said.
Their usual group was having a meet-up at their favorite restaurant, a celebration for finishing finals; they’d be graduating in less than a month’s time. And yet, there was a sort of sad or empty feeling to the group, as Eren wouldn’t be home for another 6 months or so. He had to finish his military contract, and there was no way for him to visit at the moment due to his most recent deployment.
“No, I haven’t; the last letter was from a few weeks ago. I think he’s busy. Last I heard, he was deployed somewhere in the Middle East,” Mikasa replied softly.
“Have you told him already?” asked Jean. He gently placed his arms across her shoulders from his seat next to her.
Even from across the table, Armin could see the ring glistening on his finger. He had read somewhere that only about 7% of men actually wore engagement rings; he wasn’t surprised that Jean was of that percentage. It matched the diamond on Mikasa’s hands that were resting on the table. Armin didn’t know how to feel about the entire thing. Mikasa did genuinely look happy, and she deserved every bit of it. So did Jean, especially after all that he’d done for Mikasa when Eren wasn’t able to be there for her. It wasn’t really in his place to judge— what did he know about love? It had taken him years to spend time with Annie, and even then, it took many more awkward conversations and longing glances for them to establish the bond between them. So maybe it did make sense for Mikasa to accept Jean’s proposal. While everyone felt Eren’s absence, he was sure that he and Mikasa felt it the most.
Jean was always there to comfort Mikasa, even when Armin couldn’t. He never overstepped his boundaries, knowing that it was improper to make a move on someone whose heart belonged to someone else, but as the time between Eren’s letters lengthened, the more Jean found himself attending events with Mikasa, or being left alone to study for classes together since Armin wanted surprise Annie, until one day she started smiling at him almost the same way as she did to Eren. A part of him initially wondered if Mikasa really did love him, or if she just appreciated his presence. But those doubts didn’t last long because it just wasn’t like Mikasa to do something like that.
Mikasa was glad that he did believe her when she said she loved him, because she did. Jean was kind and funny; he was hardworking, empathetic, and an amazing leader. She saw how he treated his peers and subordinates with respect and often put himself in their place to make sure they received the best treatment. He also smiled at her in this certain way. She couldn’t describe it, but it made her heart flutter. She loved having him around because he was one of the only people that filled the void of Eren’s absence. She loved when he would pull out a chair for her on lunch and dinner dates, when he brought her breakfast at her dorm in the mornings, and when he helped her put on her jacket even when she didn’t need help. She loved him-- Jean; she really did. But she also knew a part of her would never really let go of Eren, not completely.
“No, I haven’t,” Mikasa stated hesitantly. “I thought he should find out in person, especially since it’d be awkward for me to ask him to be my maid of honor when he’s not even a girl,” earning snickers from Sasha and Connie, who were also seated with them.
“Wait, so you guys have been engaged for months now, and Eren still doesn’t know?” Annie asked, her voice blunt.
Armin lightly kicked Annie’s foot under the table. “Annie,” he softly warned. The two stared at each other as Jean attempted to break the awkward atmosphere.
“No, it’s all good. We wrote to him saying that we started dating, but I guess we’re waiting to tell him about the engagement. He’s on Mikasa’s side after all. He deserves to hear it from her, whenever she’s ready.”
. . . . .
It wasn’t until Annie and Armin were on their way home from lunch did Annie dare to speak again. “Correct me if I’m wrong,” she started. “But Jean’s just in denial that Mikasa is prolonging the engagement because a part of her will never stop loving Eren,” she tells Armin
“I don’t think he’s in denial… Just that, a part of him-- well, a part of all of us-- know that Eren will always have a place in Mikasa’s heart. It doesn’t mean she won’t move on with her life. Though, I will admit that I think Jean deserves someone who will love him completely.” Armin said. And though Annie remained silent, he knew her well enough to see the slight hesitation in her actions, as if she was contemplating on whether or not she should say something. “Eren’s always been adventurous, wanting to explore the world rather than stay here; he’s always been a small distance from Mikasa and me, no matter how close we try to be to him. I think--” he paused, trying to process his thoughts into words. “I think that he just needs time to understand what she means to him. They both do.”
1 Year Ago (27 years old)
The wait for Eren’s return came by slowly, and the way he took the news of Mikasa and Jean’s engagement was quite anti-climactic. Everyone in their friend group expected more, but he was just blank and glaze-eyed for what seemed like months after he returned home. Even years later, not much of his behavior changed. The military had not been what he expected. He went in excited to serve his country-- determined to protect his people and loved ones, no matter the sacrifices he had to make. But the horrors that awaited him were beyond anything he could imagine.
Everytime he closed his eyes, he could hear bombs, screaming, and gunshots, along with the sights of blood and blurred vision. He’d somewhat grown accustomed to it, at least on the outside. He no longer jolted at the slightest touch or immediately stood alert at loud noises. Unfortunately, he still felt far, far away. There were times when he didn’t feel like he was safe or at home, but in fear of worrying Mikasa and the others, he opted for staring blankly at his surroundings.
He could practically hear his mom nagging in his ear “How many times did I tell you to NOT join? Did I not tell you that the army isn’t worth it?”
Eren almost agreed. Almost. Because while a selfish part of him wished he stayed with Mikasa, he couldn’t exactly regret leaving. Yes, more than anything in the world, he wanted to be with her; It had been his dream when he was younger, and still was his dream now. But how could he compare his happiness to the lives of millions, or more importantly, his friends?
He hoped his unhappiness didn’t show too much-- hoped that his friends wouldn’t see how his jaw clenched in anger at the thought of not being able to be with Mikasa the way he was in his dreams.
But they did, at least, Armin and Mikasa did. They noticed because this new Eren, so emotionless and easily irritated, wasn’t him. It broke their hearts to see him so different. It broke Mikasa’s heart to see the caring and determined boy she grew up with-- the one that would do anything for his family and friends-- was just… gone. Her heart ached because she had waited so long, waited 4 years to see him again, only for it to seem like he never even came back. She wanted nothing more than to be able to hug him, ask him what the matter was, and tell him everything was going to be okay because she was there-- the same way he always did when she was out of it. She wanted to tell him she lov--. No, she couldn’t do that, because it wouldn’t be fair to Jean. It wouldn’t be fair to Jean who always cared about her well-being when Eren was gone, who never overstepped when he sensed something going on between her and Eren. It just wasn’t right for her to be saying any of that last part to Eren.
Not that it would change anything. It was like he was always angry. And whenever someone asked, he’d just rudely brush them off. Which is how Eren and Mikasa got into this position: as if the past few years have not already been filled with awkward glances and underlying tension, Eren and Mikasa were, once again, fighting.
Eren could only bite his cheek while shaking his head, “That’s just the thing, Mikasa. You don’t understand. You would never be able to, and you’ve just really been pissing me off lately. God, I hate you.”
“No, no you don’t. I know you, Eren,” she insisted softly.
He hated how it didn’t phase Mikasa, as if she was expecting him to say that or that his opinion didn’t matter to her. But while this was so, he hated even more her unwillingness to give up on him. Why wouldn’t she just let go. He doesn’t deserve any type of kidness-- not after abandoning her for some stupid dream in the military, not after letting some other man claim her, not after all the awful things he had to do while he was in the Middle East. He didn’t deserve any kindness from Mikasa-- he didn’t deserve her.
And yet, he was angry that Jean was with her, because even after everything Eren had done, he still wanted Mikasa to be his. He wasn’t mad at her-- God no, he could never be mad at her-- but he was mad at the entire situation and all his conflicting emotions.
His anger got the better of him, of course, and he continued speaking. “Don’t you think your life is so pitiful? I might be fucked up in the head, but at least I’m not stuck in a long engagement, working a regular 9-5 schedule like some robot who’s following orders. I actually have some interesting things going on in my life,” Eren sneered. He internally cringed at the harshness of his words when he saw Miaksa recoil. He hit her where it hurt, he was sure. Good. Maybe if she hated him, it’d be easier for him to move on with his life without her beside him.
It took Mikasa a second to recollect herself. She honestly wanted to cry, but with the way Eren had just treated her, she did not want to give him the satisfaction of it. “Okay,” she tried to calmly say. “You clearly don’t want me around, so I’m just going to go,” she stood up from the table they sat at before walking away. Maybe Eren was too far gone-- too far changed after his military service-- too bitter at how life turned out for him. She deserved better, right? It was okay to walk away after what just happened. Slowly taking off her red scarf --the scarf he had given her so many years ago when they were just 9 years old-- she didn’t dare to look back. It was too bad she didn’t-- if she did, she might’ve caught Eren shedding a tear before quickly wiping it away.
Present Day (28 years old)
“Mikasa, we need to talk,” Jean stated firmly. It had been months since Eren and Mikasa’s big fight, and while everyone in their friend group knew something happened, no one was actually sure what exactly went down. Years of being Eren and Mikasa’s friends taught them to stay out of it. They’d solve it eventually-- they loved each other too much to stay apart forever. Which is the thought that solidified Jean’s decision to do what he was about to do. “I think we should break our engagement,” Jean announced slowly and quietly, as if it pained him to say it-- it probably did.
Mikasa reached out to grab his hand, “Jean--” she started before pausing.
Jean outstretched his hand in a gesture to let him continue.
“I’ve thought about it a lot. There is no doubt in my mind that you do love me. I know that. But I also know that you’ll never love me in the same way you love Eren. Even after everything, you still have his scarf. Mikasa, love like what you guys have-- it doesn’t happen often. Don’t let him go,” Jean’s voice cracked at his own advice.
Mikasa couldn’t deny it-- she could only stare at him sadly while apologizing. What for? She didn’t know. Maybe for leading him on? Or not loving him as much as Jean deserved?
“Hey, it’s okay. I love you. I want you to be happy, and if that means letting you go, then I will learn to live with it,” Jean gave her a small smile.
It made Mikasa want to cry. She probably hurt him a lot, with him always knowing he wouldn’t live up to Eren, and yet here he was, being understanding, a gentleman. He was letting her go. “Thank you,” she whispered before she gently kissed his cheek.
And before Jean knew it, she was gone. Just like that. Everything seemed to run by in a blur that he hadn’t even realized how much time had gone. One second, he was watching Miaksa leave, and the next, he was sandwiched between Connie and Sasha at a bar. He had a drink in his hand that he didn’t even remember buying. Had he been drinking?
“Yo, you seem out of it, man,” Connie stated while hooking his arm around Jean. It earned him a nudge from Sasha, who muttered something about letting Jean wallow in his despair a little longer. He had just let Mikasa go after all-- someone who he’d loved for over a decade. “Uhh what I meant to say was, I hope you know that you deserve someone who will love you with all their heart, and all of their mind, body, and soul. Someday, you will find someone who makes you happy, then you’ll forget just how much this hurts,” Connie says, him and Sasha rubbing Jean’s back in comfort.
. . . . .
Mikasa was never one to back down from confrontation, so even she found it surprising when a week later, she still hadn’t talked to Eren. It’s not that she didn’t want to, but rather, didn’t know how. Luckily, Eren was impulsive as ever, and so everything seemed to fall back into place when he showed up at her doorstep one day.
“Hey,” he says with a short breath, as if he was trying to hide his exhaustion from running or whatever extraneous activity he was doing beforehand.
“Hi,” Mikasa replies, looking at his disheveled hair and the sweat-stained neckline of his shirt. Did he rush over here?
“I heard from Jean… about umm… about what happened,” he pauses, seeming to take a moment to gather his thoughts. “I’m sorry for all the trouble I caused you-- what I’ve been causing you. But I just wanted to tell you this before I lose my courage: I’ve uhh I’ve been having this dream for a while, practically forever. Of all our dreams, our past lives-- presumably, at least-- this one is my favorite. We were together in Switzerland, in this small cabin. There were trees everywhere and mountains in sight. Nothing ever really happened, except… normal everyday things. We hunted, fished, gathered wood… it was simple, but I was really, really really happy. I was happy because I was home with you. Those nights and my memories of that dream kept me going, even during my hardest times.” He notices how she was slowly registering what he said, so he gives it one last push. “What I’m trying to say is--”
“I know, sorry it took me a second,” Mikasa lightly laughs. “Why did you come back?” she dares to ask. It was a little awkward, like they haven’t been friends for the past 28 years.
Eren could only smile before grabbing her hands in between them, slightly hesitating. He grips them a little more tightly as if to stabilize himself. “Because we’re Eren and Mikasa, and Mikasa and Eren. Because you’re my best friend. Because I love you. Because you are my home, and I’ll always find my way home back to you.”

Chapter 13. You Never Walk Alone
series masterlist
I’ve never been one to follow the rules.
In fact, I’ve wondered many times if I came into existence for the sole purpose of breaking as many rules as possible within a short amount of time.
However, as I sit here staring down at my phone and listening to it ringing without someone answering on the other end, I find myself promising whoever is listening to my prayers that I’ll obey every rule to come my way for the rest of my life as long as someone just answers me.
For hours, no one does.
By the time the moon has risen, I’ve finally dozed off on the couch with my phone still in hand and a very confused Elle on my stomach. When my phone begins to ring, I jump, nearly falling off of the couch in the process.
Without even bothering to see who is calling me, I bring the phone up to my ear.
“Yah, hyung. I’m already- oh...Jolie?”
I blink, wondering for a moment if this is all some cruel dream. “...Jimin? What’s going on- what happened?”
“You’re safe- she’s safe, hyung.” There’s chatter in the background, but my ears perk up at a familiar voice. “I’m so sorry, you must have been worried sick- hey!”
“Jolie?”
I jump off the couch, eyes wide. “Chung-hei?! What’s going on? Why haven’t you been answering your phone? I- I thought…”
I don’t quite know what I thought. Obviously, that the worst had transpired. Chung-hei knows exactly what path my thoughts have taken, as she’s quick to explain.
“I’m so sorry, Jolie. When we left your place Sunmi noticed that someone was tailing us,” my breath comes up short. “I think they thought you were with us, they might have been tailing the car for the past couple of days to make sure it was yours. And then they probably saw Christina…”
She doesn’t need to explain that to me. No doubt whoever was tailing them saw Christina with her severed thread and automatically assumed that she was Jimin’s estranged soulmate.
“So what happened? Is everyone ok? Is Christina alright?”
There’s some fumbling on the other side of the phone, and I swear I hear Chung-hei’s annoyed sigh but it’s quickly covered as another familiar voice breaks through the phone.
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me!” Christina shouts a little unnecessarily.
“I- how did you hear me?” I ask, furrowing my brows. “Am I on speaker?”
There’s a long pause in which I know that I must be on speaker, especially as a voice that sounds mysteriously like Kim Seokjin shouts “Yeah you are we wanted to know what you sound like!” There’s a muffled grunt in which I can imagine someone giving him a firm elbow to the ribs.
“Hang on, let me step outside-” Christina’s suggestion is met with a load of whining, but she must ignore them because a second later all is silent save for the sound of wind. “There. I needed to get out of there- I’m freaking out. I’m so dying right now.”
“I’m sure you’re rattled, you were literally just tailed! How did you lose them?”
“Oh, yeah. That sucked, but I was talking about the fact that I literally just met BTS. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but Park Jimin is so much more handsome in person. I couldn’t hardly think straight in there-”
“Yeah, yeah,” I groan, burying my face in my hands. “Save it for later. I was a mess over here, thinking you’d died or something. Can you please explain what went on?”
Once she subsides in her giggling - and I get over the strange butterflies that have somehow come to life in my stomach - Christina gets to the point.
“Right...well, we’d only made it a couple of blocks before Sumni noticed that someone was following us. She’s been trained to pick up on that kind of stuff, you know. She said that they’d been hiding out near your apartment earlier, and that it looked like they’d been waiting the entire time while we’d been inside.”
“So how’d you lose them?”
“She drove straight toward the Bighit building and contacted the security there. By the time the people tracking us knew that she was leading them into a trap, it was too late. They got pulled over, security took them over to the police department a little while ago.”
I shiver thinking about them lurking outside of my apartment, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
“And...why didn’t you answer my calls, then? I seriously was about to go running around Seoul looking for you.”
Christina barks a laugh. “That’d be a sight to see. We were told to power off our phones, they’re being looked at right now to make sure they weren’t able to somehow get a way to track us through there. We should get them back pretty soon.”
Taking a seat and then slinking down to sprawl out on the couch, I sight at the ceiling. My eyes well up tears of relief, but I close my eyes to stop them from escaping. “I’m happy you’re safe.”
“Me too. The boys were already at the Bighit building, you should’ve seen Jimin. He was-” Christina lowers her voice as though suddenly realizing that she’s not that far from the man in question, “You know how the boys say that he can be really scary when he’s angry?”
“Yeah?”
“Well, I believe them now. I think it was a good thing security took those people away before he could see them. He probably would have killed them, he looked so pissed off.”
I snort out a laugh, throwing my hand over my mouth. “Let me guess, that only made him more attractive to you?”
“You know what, it totally did.”
It feels good to laugh after the stress of the day, so I let it out. Giggling up a storm with Christina who admits that she may be wavering in her undying devotion for Jimin simply because of the fact that Taehyung offered her a glass of lemonade.
“Oh, oh! He’s looking at me- oh. He’s telling me to come back inside.” I let out another guffaw at Christina’s massive crush on Taehyung. “Hey, I have to turn you back over to your soulmate now, but I’ll let you know when I get my phone back. Ok?”
“Ok,” I mumble, suddenly going quiet. There’s some static as the phone is exchanged, and suddenly Jimin’s speaking to me.
“Hey...you doing ok?”
I blink, taken aback by his question. “Yeah, I’m fine.” Then, when he doesn’t respond, “Are you...alright?”
From the way the voices in the background are fading, Jimin must be moving away to find a more private location. Indeed, I again hear Seokjin’s teasing voice in the background however it’s too muffled to understand.
“Yeah. All good over here.” I hear a door click shut. “There’s something I need to talk to you about, though. About everything that happened today. You might not like it, but...well, it’s for your own safety.”
This has me sitting up straight, bracing for whatever it is he’s about to say. “Ok…”
“We need you to stay inside, don’t leave your house. Just for a couple of days, maximum. We don’t know if these people had more that were trying to track you, and until we can round them all up…”
I stare blankly at the wall in front of me. Stay here? No work?
Honestly, it doesn’t sound that bad.
Except for one little thing.
“...Jolie?”
“I...I’m not sure, Jimin.”
“I know. I know, and I’m sorry,” it makes it so much worse, because I can hear just how sorry he is. “But please, just for a few days. We need- I need you safe.”
How can I say no to that?
“Alright.”
“You’ll do it? I’ll have groceries delivered, just text me what you need-”
“I’m pretty sure I can pay for my groceries, Jimin,” I say with a strained smile, eyeing the calendar on the wall and the circled date just a couple of days from now. Hopefully all of this will blow over by then. “Don’t worry.”
“Honestly, if you don’t send me a grocery list I’ll just end up sending random food to your apartment. So take your pick, I guess.”
Rolling my eyes fondly, I give an over exaggerated sigh. “Fine. I’ll compile a list.”
✂
The girls get their phones back not long after I finish my conversation with Jimin. Sunmi is quick to send me a play by play of Christina’s growing crush, which helps to ease the worry growing in the pit of my stomach.
The next morning there’s a pile of groceries waiting outside on my doorstep, making me smile softly. Jimin had clearly added a few items to my small list, because I don’t remember requesting a bag of chocolates or a bag of Doritos. Either way, I’ll take it.
There isn’t a whole lot to do with my day off, other than find a new show to watch and different ways to annoy Elle. Jimin texts me throughout the day, and I find myself itching to call him.
If only to just hear his voice for a moment.
However, as my fingers hover over the call button, I find myself hesitating. It scares me just how quickly I want to interact with him. After all that I did to distance myself from him, I’ve been reduced to an insatiable fangirl after a bouquet of flowers and some slipped chocolates.
Staring at my phone, I try my best to control my breathing. Then I send off a message.
Me: Ok, help. I’m freaking out.
Christina is quick to respond.
Christina 🍯: hahahahaha
Me: what.
Me: I come to you for help and I get laughed at? 😡
Christina 🍯: no, it’s just...when are you not freaking out?
Christina 🍯: think about it
Christina 🍯: you always are lol
Me: Ok. Not helping. Remember, I came to you for help?
Christina 🍯: right right, what’s up
Me: I think this is all happening too fast
Christina 🍯: I’m assuming this is about Park Jimin?? Who, might I add, looked fiiiine in his sweats yesterday
Me: QUIT IT
Me: I’M GROWING WEAK
Christina 🍯: are you feeling things?!! 😱
Me: YES OK I AM PLS HELP
Christina 🍯: I don’t see why you need help…?
Christina 🍯: isn’t this a good thing?
Me: is it?
Christina 🍯: ...yes.
Christina 🍯: what brought this on?
Me: I want to call him.
Christina 🍯: ….
Me: We just talked last night.
Christina 🍯: ….
Me: well, isn’t it all a bit much? I mean, I literally was trying to be completely separated from him just a few weeks ago and now I’m suddenly having to remind myself that I don’t need to constantly talk to him! Isn’t that like a bit...idk, a bit sketchy??
Christina 🍯: no.
Christina 🍯: idk if you remember this, but he’s your soulmate. And sometimes when people start to meet their soulmates, they want to talk all the time.
Me: isn’t it going to annoy him? I mean, I already kinda feel like a pity case…
Christina 🍯: first off, no. you’re not a pity case, so stop thinking that. If anyone’s a pity case, it’s me because I was invited to lunch today with Chung-hei nd the boys and I’m gonna ride this out for as long as possible
Christina 🍯: if I could sneak you a picture of Tae without looking like a creep, I totally would 😰
Me: ok, I don’t know how to respond to that lolll
Me: have fun at lunch though!!! Don’t drool or anything
Christina 🍯: yeah, let’s move past that 😂
Christina 🍯: just, call him. Honestly, he’s been checking his phone constantly anyways. And, don’t you think he deserves it? Call him. You know I don’t mean this in a rude way but...he’s done everything in this weird relationship-that’s-not-a-relationship so far. Time for you to return the favor.
✂
“...Jimin?”
Jimin blinks, looking around the table until his eyes land on who was just calling his name. Chung-hei smiles at him from her spot beside Namjoon.
“Yes?”
It’s when everyone starts to giggle that he realizes he must have missed something.
“How’re you doing over there?” Chung-hei asks. Jimin frowns.
“...good. How are you?”
Namjoon places his arm on the back of Chung-hei’s chair, and Jimin notices the way her cheeks automatically redden.
“You seem a little distracted today,” Namjoon croons. “That’s all.”
Looking around at everyone’s amused faces, Jimin notices one face that isn’t looking in his direction.
Christina is smiling slightly at her phone, fingers flying across the screen as she texts out a message.
“Christina’s distracted too!” Jimin points to the girl like a kindergartener, a sly smile on his face when she looks up at him with raised brows.
“Hey, it’s for a good reason,” she says.
“Oh?” Taehyung leans forward, resting his chin in his hand. “And what would that be?”
Everyone notices the way Christina looks at Taehyung before quickly looking away, as though looking at him for too long could burn her. Like a moth to a candle, though, she can’t quite stay away.
“His soulmate,” she finally says, pointing an accusing finger right back at him. “I’m helping her through an existential crisis or something.”
Jimin automatically scoots forward, concern written across his face. “What’s going on? Does she need something?”
Christina snorts as a text - a text from Jolie, apparently - comes through on her phone. “No. She’s fine. Just needs to get out of her head. I suspect that sitting cooped up in the house isn’t helping.”
Ah.
It had hurt to have to order her to stay home, he knew how much that could hurt. Sure, some people might not have a problem with it. But something told him that there were only so many distractions in Jolie’s small apartment that could keep her entertained. Hopefully it would all be over soon.
And then what?
That was the question that had been plaguing him today. How long would he be forced to run this same track over and over again? How long until they were both ready to face each other?
They were going to face each other, right?
Christina sits back in her chair with a satisfied sigh, looking quite pleased with herself.
“What are you so happy about?” Jimin asks, leaning back and crossing his arms. Christina merely looks at him and then down at his phone which sits atop the table.
Just like magic, it begins to ring.
“O-oh, uh…” Jimin scrambles to his feet, nearly tipping over his water in the process. Grabbing his phone, he looks for the quickest exit.
“Why don’t you just stay in here?” Jin asks, ever the prying one. “We can all chat.”
Jimin pays him no mind, heading straight for the door and bringing the phone to his ear. “Hey, what’s up?” He prays he sounds nonchalant.
“Aish, he’s already so over-protective,” Hobi calls out loud enough for Jolie to hear on the other side of the phone.
“Hyung! At least wait until I’m out of the room!” Jimin shouts back, finally slipping out into the hallway. Jolie’s laugh is enough to make him smile.
“Sounds like you’re having fun,” she teases.
Jimin sighs, leaning his head back against the wall. “So much. How are you? Have you gone stir-crazy yet?”
There’s a moment’s silence. “Yes. Definitely. I think by about eight o’clock this morning, actually.”
“Ugh, I’m sorry.”
“Nah, it’s fine.”
Another moment of silence, in which Jimin scrambles for something - anything to say in order to keep her on the phone.
“Did you, uh, get the groceries?” It’s a pointless question; he was notified this morning when they were dropped off.
“Oh! I did! And I saw some chocolate…? And Doritos. You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you?”
Jimin grins. “Nope. No clue.”
“Huh. Interesting. I could have sworn you’d added them in there. What are you trying to do, make me fall in love with you or something?”
Of course, the answer is yes. Can he say that, though?
Aren’t they supposed to be taking this slow? Why did nobody tell him that it would be this hard to do something so simple?
“Sorry...was that awkward?”
Jimin starts at the sound of Jolie’s voice, realizing that he never responded. “Er, no. Sorry, I was just thinking.” He chuckles awkwardly. “Is chocolate all it takes, then?”
He swears he can hear a gasp on the other side of the phone, but then again that may just be wishful thinking.
Either way, he temporarily throws caution to the wind. He knows he’s toeing the line, but he can’t find it in himself to back off. Not when he can hear Jolie’s soft laugh on the other side of the phone and wonders if she’s wearing that same smile he saw for a fraction of a second all those weeks ago.
“Well, it’s a good start. Obviously the chips were a bonus.”
“Ah, yeah. I thought those might be a nice touch.” He pauses. “Hey, are your flowers still doing good? Or are they dead?”
“I feel like I’m in danger of receiving more flowers if these ones are dead,” Jolie muses.
“Danger? Really?”
“You know you don’t have to keep me in constant supply of flowers, right? Besides, I’m planning on drying the ones I have now.”
“Consider it a present for making you stay inside for so long.”
Jolie hums on the other side, and Jimin finds himself nodding along to the sound. “About that...any updates? Do I have any more stalkers?”
Jimin shivers at the thought. He’s dealt with his fair share of stalkers over the years, he’s had quite enough of them. “Nothing yet, but we should know more by tonight at the latest. I’ll be sure to call you as soon as I know.”
It’s quiet on the other side, but Jimin allows some time for the quiet to settle. When he doesn’t get a response back for a while, he quietly speaks.
“Hey, you alright over there?”
There’s a long sigh, one that he thinks he wasn’t supposed to hear. “Mm? Oh, yeah. All good. You good?”
Jimin smiles. “All good.”
✂
House arrest doesn’t suit me. It’s going on day three, and I’ve found that the thrill of television isn’t what it used to be. Especially not as the pile of empty chocolate wrappers grow.
I told Jimin as much last night before I went to bed. I also accused him of trying to make me gain weight. He only cackled and told me he’d send over healthier foods in the morning.
I should have known it sounded too good to be true. This morning I checked my porch to see a suspicious grocery bag with bananas and apples on the top. Upon further inspection I found that the fruit was only a cover for what lay underneath.
Two more bags of assorted chocolates.
Oh, and a note that Jimin must have added for the deliverer which was left on the bag. It simply said: delivery request: please hide chocolate under the fruit.
“I can’t believe it.”
“Wow, so are we past saying hello when we call? I don’t know how I feel about that.”
I try to ignore how easy - how right - it feels to just grab my phone and call Jimin up. There are still a fair amount of nerves going into it, but over the past few days we’ve grown accustomed to it.
“You sent me more chocolate!”
“Buuut I countered it with fruit. Isn’t that good?”
I roll my eyes. “Sure, but the fact that you’re forcing me to practice self-restraint is absolutely horrible.
“Ah, I see. So next time I should just send the apples?”
“No…”
I find a comfortable spot on the couch, staring at the calendar before me. Staring at the date, with a little circle around it.
Nothing to celebrate today. But certainly something to remember.
Jimin’s rambling - he rambles, I’ve come to learn this - about his day and how they have an interview coming up this weekend, however I find that I’m struggling to listen. Especially as the calendar grows larger and larger in my eyes.
I wait until it’s dark to slip out.
With my pre-ordered train ticket shining on my phone, I keep my head down and my hood up as I rush to the station. At this time of night on a weekday, there aren’t nearly as many people about. That being said, it’s still Seoul. There are still plenty of people on the sidewalks, and I can only pray that they don’t notice my lack of a red thread amidst the sea of threads adorning the roads.
Thankfully, I make it to the station without much of an issue. It isn’t long before I’m settled and holding the dried hydrangeas close to my chest.
It isn’t a long ride to my hometown, only about twenty minutes by train. Throughout the entire time I remain on high alert, knowing that if I somehow wind up in trouble that Bighit may very well murder me in my sleep.
I watch as the train rolls to a stop at my destination, and I hurry off before anyone can notice me. Once I’m outside, I let out a sigh of relief.
It’s been too long.
One year, actually.
The cemetery isn’t far from the station, and I don’t dare risk a taxi. So, with my flowers still in hand, I begin my silent pilgrimage.
✂
Not much has changed here. I peeked the same family that runs the sweet shop I used to adore, constantly begging for just enough won for some sweets. The streets even look the same, only a few small changes here and there.
It’s the fact that this was my home but that I don’t quite belong here anymore that makes my feet all the heavier. When the cemetery finally comes into view, I take a deep breath and trudge onward.
Coming to a stop before a small tombstone, I groan and kneel before it. It was a longer walk than I remembered.
“Hey Mom,” I whisper, taking care to gently separate the bouquet in half and lay some flowers on either side. “Dad.” Once the flowers are in their proper places, I lean back on my hands.
“I’m not really supposed to be outside right now...but, I promised I’d visit every year, didn’t I?” I look expectantly at the tombstone, but receive no answer. The stone is cold and unwavering, but I find that I don’t mind. The moon is bright and full, shining down enough light to see clearly. “Well, I’m here. I would have brought you some fresh flowers but...well, things are a little complicated right now.”
Inhaling deeply, I chew on my bottom lip before exhaling. As I do, my vision blurs a bit with unshed tears. Finally, bringing my left hand forward, I look down at the severed thread.
“Mom, you wouldn’t know who he is, but I met my soulmate. Well, not officially, I guess. That’s where things get complicated. But I’m trying to fix it.” Looking heavenward, I watch the stars winking down at me. “Dad, you’ll know him. His name is Park Jimin.”
✂
“What do you mean she’s not home?”
Jimin is currently pacing in the living room, listening to Sunmi’s voice on speaker. The others sit in various spaces around the room, each mirroring a look of concern.
Sunmi had been cleared to head over to Jolie’s, which Jimin had deemed a tender mercy. He felt horrible for her, knowing that she was probably going crazy. So, Sunmi had gone over to surprise her.
Except there was one little problem.
“I’m telling you, she’s not here,” Sunmi responds, struggling to maintain her composure. “I got here about ten minutes ago and knocked, but all the lights were off and it looked like nobody was home. Nobody’s answering. She’s not here, and she won’t answer her phone.”
Jimin looks around the room in horror. Automatically his mind conjures up the worst-possible scenarios. “Where would she go? There’s no sign of a break-in, right?”
Chung-hei frowns on the other side of the room, pulling her phone out. “I’ll check her location right now,” she reassures.
“No, everything looks normal. Should I ask around? See if anyone’s seen her?”
“No, not yet. That will only raise suspicion.” Jimin says, watching with bated breath and Chung-hei tries to locate his soulmate.
When Chung-hei’s expression changes from confused worry to stunned understanding, Jimin isn’t sure how to react.
“What is it?” He asks, impatient.
“I didn’t realize,” Chung-hei mumbles. “What’s the date today?” She answers the question herself, confirming it. “She’s back home.”
“What do you mean? Sunmi just said-”
“No, not that home.” Chung-hei flips the phone around to show him. “It’s been a year. And she promised him she’d visit every year.”
It takes a moment for Jimin to process the information, already thinking about how quickly he can convince someone to tail him while he drives out to Jolie. She can get in the other car to return, obviously so she doesn’t have to see him-
“One year.” Jimin blinks, suddenly remembering what Jolie mentioned in her letter. “It’s the anniversary of her father’s passing.”
Chung-hei’s solemn nod is answer enough.
Jimin stumbles back to sit in the nearest chair, rubbing his hands over his face. “I need to go out there-”
“No, you know you can’t do that,” Namjoon immediately rejects.
“I wasn’t asking for your permission.”
Namjoon grinds his jaw, glancing at Chung-hei as the two share a silent conversation. When Namjoon’s shoulders relax, Jimin finds himself hoping. There’s no way he can leave Jolie to go through this alone.
“Bang Sihyuk will kill us if he finds out,” Namjoon begins.
“I don’t care-”
“I do.” Namjoon sighs. “So don’t get caught.”
Jimin blinks. “What?”
Namjoon shrugs, looking around the room. “Don’t get caught. Make it look like you snuck out.”
Leaping to his feet, Jimin hardly has time to grab his jacket before he’s flying out the door. “Send me the location!” He shouts out before the door closes.
He doesn’t know what possesses him as he sprints down the street, but he’s reminded of the last time he went running toward his soulmate.
This time, he knows that he’s been through the heartbreak. Surely he’s been through the worst of it. Now, all that’s on his mind is the fact that his soulmate is alone and she shouldn’t be.
He’s tired of being alone.
It’s been years since Jimin last took the train, but Chung-hei explains in her text containing Jolie’s location that it might be his best bet.
Without a second thought, Jimin boards the train and heads toward his soulmate.
✂
My eyelids are drooping, but the walk back to the train station seems daunting. “I need to get going,” I mumble.
My voice is a little hoarse from all the talking I’ve done over the past hour. Even in death, my parents can’t escape my rambling.
Not that I think they mind.
I rise to my feet, taking one last look at the flowers that my soulmate gifted me before leaving them there on the tombstone.
“Goodnight, Mom and Dad.”
Despite my exhaustion, I remember to walk briskly back toward the gas station. I keep my head down with my hands in my pocket.
My heart feels a little heavy tonight. I shoot a melancholy smile toward the stars, who act as my solitary companion tonight. I can’t shake the feeling that I would really rather not be alone tonight.
Nobody deserves to mourn alone.
My fingers itch to call Jimin or Christina or anybody, but I put it off. I had my phone on silent, and the last thing I needed was bringing attention to myself by talking loud enough for everyone to hear. If Jimin found out that I was out here…
He’d probably stop sending me chocolates. At the very least.
Yes, it would be best to wait until I’m home and in the warmth of my bed before calling him.
Like a dream, my feet carry me toward the train station. It’s downhill for the most part, making it easier than I thought it would be. A tender mercy, I suppose, for a day like today.
Thankfully, it’s late enough now that the station is empty for the most part. Only a few stragglers wander about, all of which are too tired to pay me any mind. However, as I near the ticket booth, I feel it.
Almost like something pulling on my thread. It’s a similar feeling to what I felt as the thread had been cut, but there’s no reason for it to be acting up again.
“That’ll be 26,000 won,” the person on the other side of the booth drawls, looking for all the world like they’d rather walk across hot coals then have to spend another moment here.
“Oh, right.” I pull the money from my wallet, sliding it under the little window. “Sorry about that, I got distracted-”
“Here ya go,” they interrupt, clearly not very interested in what was distracting me. All the better, I suppose.
Thanking them, I pocket the ticket and make my way to a bench before the platform. The train should be here in about fifteen minutes.
But there’s that annoying tug again, nearly pulling my hand off my lap. I frown down at the thread, too tired to put that much thought into it. I’ll have to ask Christina if she’s ever known a thread to act up.
There’s a cold draft in the station, one that only gets worse as an incoming train pulls up and comes to a stop. I keep my head down as the doors open and people begin to file out.
At least, I try to until I’m practically thrown off my seat as my thread pushes and pulls at me. It’s starting to cause a scene, so I hurry off to the side and half-hide behind a pillar. Hopefully nobody will question why I gave up my perfectly nice seat.
Burying my hand in my pocket, I look around to make sure nobody is coming my way when my eyes catch on something- or rather, a lack of something.
Someone walks off the train, however the typical red thread doesn’t accompany them.
That’s not the only thing that alarms me. It’s the fact that I know them.
Park Jimin glides off of the train and looks around, trying to deduce which exit to take. He pulls his phone out to look at something when he drops it due to a sudden jolt.
I watch, utterly paralyzed as he stumbles forward. Almost as though pulled by some invisible thread.
His eyes are wide and he’s practically buried under the large, puffy jacket he wears. It’s brown, to match his brown hair, which is ridiculously ruffled. He’s chewing on the inside of his lips as he lifts his head to look around yet again.
From across the station, our eyes meet. Slowly, so slowly it burns, I see the recognition register in his eyes as he trails from my face down to my left hand and back up to my eyes again.
Jimin freezes, and I realize that it isn’t because he’s afraid or nervous.
This is my choice to make. Even now, after all that’s happened, he still allows me to choose.
So, with a tentative step forward quickly followed by another, I choose him.

Keeping Up With Seijoh Ep. 1
a/n: this is a mini-series that are based off of your asks and once i,,,,, finish,,,, my seijoh phase, i will also do this for the other schools but pls take these offerings in the meantime as i work on the next part of my manager!seijoh and the time traveler au
for more seijoh content, check this masterlist out!
anon request:
Wow, your series of Seijoh managers is so cute.🥺👉👈 After starting to read, I can only think about Oikawa and y / n on a Saturday night seeing mean girls, painting nails, taking care of the skin and the another day Oiks rubbing the face of everyone who spends much more time with his dear businessman LMAOO Anyway, congratulations on your work 💕💕 seriously, I LOVE this series omg-
I MIGHT BE AN IWA AND KYO STAN BUT OIKS IS DEFINITELY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND PRETTIEST DUMPSTER IVE EVER SEEN
yep lets start the pilot
so basically, oikawa was being oikawa again
what might i mean, you ask
well, he was starting to work much harder than before since this was his last ever inter-high and his last ever chance on beating ushiwaka
even though they finally have the team assembled avengers assemble! with kyo back on the team, he still felt lacking and wanted to use every single free time to work on becoming better
yall fun fact about me, oikawa is actually my favorite character bc of how hard he works and the pain i have in that once scene during the karasuno match when he slammed into the tables and was struggling to get up bc of his knee----NO IM SOBBING AGAIN
iwa noticed him doing this again so he sent you out to drag him out and distract him from this
‘cmon oikawa-san-’
‘NO, Y/N-CHAN! I HAVE TO-’
‘no, the only thing you have to do is spend time with me bc i miss you and i want to have that movie you kept talking about’
bahahaha he is so whipped that a single ‘i miss you’ from you will literally make him break his back and bend for you
it was successful and you were in your room, your parents understanding oikawa and his antics since youve complained about it before, and he was sitting on your floor while looking through movies
‘y/n-chan, do you have no alien movies in here? or barbie?’
IN MY CONTENT, IT IS CANON THAT OIKAWA LOVES THE BARBIE MOVIES FITE ME
you laughed from your spot on your bed and shook your head
‘no, oikawa-san. natsu took all my barbie movies and i get scared of alien movies’
he pouted but continued to look until his eyes literally lit up
it was like god took a picture of him and you saw the flash
‘MEAN GIRLS! Y/N-CHAN I DIDNT KNOW YOU LIKED THIS TYPE OF MOVIE!’
he shrieked but you shrugged
‘meh. katsuki, natsu’s boyfriend, gave it to natsu as a joke but he gave it to me instead bc he cannot stand regina george’
you reasoned while picking out nail polish colors and looking through the ingredients of your face masks
‘WE’RE WATCHING THIS! PERIODT!’
omg hes so loud but i am too so we compatible
ugh i hate my logic
then later,
as the movie played, you were arguing with oikawa as he refused to wear the unicorn and wanted the panda one, which was your favorite
‘OIKAWA-SAN, I LIKE THIS ONE!’
‘Y/N-CHAN I LIKE IT MORE!’
you sucked in a sharp breath before relenting bc you wanted oikawa to be relaxed per request of your beloved senpai
‘fine. but i get to paint your nails’
he nodded eagerly and you handed him the packet, to which he simply stared at it
‘y/n-chan, can you,,,, put it on me?’
he sheepishly asked and you gave him a confused and bewildered look
‘oikawa-san, have you never put these on yourself?’
he shook his head, cheeks flushing and eyes focusing on the blue blanket
‘my sister always put it on for me. or iwa-chan’
‘IWA-?! wHAT-?!’
but you nodded anyways and he made you sit on his lap to put it on
‘um, oikawa-san, this position-’
he smiled at you, a gentle and real smile, not the ones for his fangirls
‘nuh uh, its fine, y/n-chan. oikawa-san loves you so he likes you right here’
he mumbled, blushing and wrapping his arms around your waist to pull you closer making you giggle and nod
‘okay. close your eyes then, oikawa-san’
he excitedly nodded, expecting a kiss from you but you flicked his forehead making his eyes fly open and wince at the pain
‘so perverted, oikawa-san. pervert-oikawa-san’
you scolded and he pouted
he said something but you didnt listen, instead placing the mask on his face and smoothing it out
his fringe was about to touch the wet material so you hastily grabbed a clip and held his hair up
he looked so cute that you couldnt help but reach over and snap a picture of him
‘ara ara gomen did y/n-chan just take a picture of oikawa-san?’
he teased but you shook your head
‘no. what are you talking about?’
he did the same thing to you and now you were both painting each other’s nails, ofc staying loyal to your school mint green and baby blue on the ring fingernail
lmao dont blast me for not being exact w the school colors but it looks mint green to me
he finished yours first and omg?? hes so??? good?? like what???
you were holding his large hands with your small fingers and his heart started thumping really fast at the simple touch
‘thank you,,,,, y/n-chan’
you looked up to him with large eyes, still unfamiliar with the softness of his voice
it was such a contrast compared to his usually loud and obnoxious, mocking tone
‘oikawa-san is not a really good captain since he burdens and bothers everyone but you always fix it all and keep everyone together. so, sorry for everything’
he mumbled and the eye holes from the mask let you see his sad eyes, genuinely sad about himself
you made the last paint stroke and capped the nail polish before leaning forwards, hands on his thigh so you could be closer
oikawa ofc freaked out because wow youre so much prettier up close and he doesnt?? deserve you??
your eyes blazed with anger and he stuttered your name but you cut him off
‘OIKAWA-SAN IS NOT USELESS. HE IS A REALLY GOOD CAPTAIN WHO LED HIS TEAM TO BATTLE THE ULTIMATE RIVAL AND EVEN THOUGH THEY LOST, THEY STILL WON IN MY EYES. YOU GOT KENTA-KUN TO COME BACK EVEN THOUGH HE DIDNT WANT TO BUT HE DID BC HE KNOWS HOW GOOD YOU ARE. HE WANTS TO PLAY ALONGSIDE A PLAYER WHO DESERVES TO BE ON THE COURT AND EVERYONE ELSE THINKS THE SAME THING. ME, Y/N, IS JUST A MANAGER WHO MIGHT NOT KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT VOLLEYBALL OR THE TECHNIQUES AND ALL THAT BUT I RECOGNIZE YOUR TALENT AND YOU WILL MAKE IT BIG SOMEDAY, OIKAWA-SAN! I PROMISE! AND WHEN YOU DO, I WILL SUPPORT YOU AND COME TO YOUR GAMES BC YOU ARE MY CAPTAIN AND I DONT REGRET EVER MEETING YOU. SO DONT APOLOGIZE AND SAY SORRY TO ME, INSTEAD TELL ME YOU ARE HAPPY TO BE IN THIS TEAM AND SAY YOU LOVE THE TEAM AND YOU LOVE VOLLEYBALL AND YOU LOVE-’
but he cut you off, placing a chaste kiss on your exposed nose
yall really thought it was the,,,, speaking function part of your face
nahnahnah that is only for the doggie
oop what
you stopped, flustered at the sudden action but oikawa smiled
‘i love you, y/n. i really love you so give me a chance, okay? i will wait, no matter how long it takes but,,,, let me catch up and for now, think about me, okay?’
BRUH HOW IS THAT RELEVANT TO HER LONG RANT LIKE WHAT---
you tilted your head to the side, confused
she is deadass naive like bls protect her
‘a chance for what? you want to catch up for what? youre already good, oikawa-san’
then he laughed
so much more different than the ones he let out in public
it was so,,,, beautiful
you found yourself grinning with him and he calmed down, brushing away the stray hairs that is in danger of getting stuck on your mask
‘come on, y/n-chan. lets go take this off’
he stood up and offered his hand which you took
after the moisturizing and final touch-ups for your skin, you finally settled on the blanket fort and dozed off, the movie still playing but you were too comfortable in oikawa’s arms that you didnt even notice the credits rolling
the next day, you didnt feel the need to mention it at all
but oikawa did and it was still truly an accident
iwa heard about him staying late again and you having to drag him out of there and he was hitting him and kicking him again
you were so used to this that you were just writing down your notes at the corner, oblivious to oikawa’s crying
finally, he had enough of it
‘SEE THIS IS WHY Y/N-CHAN DOESNT LET YOU SPEND THE NIGHT WITH HER! BECAUSE YOU ARE SO MEAN!’
um, sire what did you just say
that was completely taken out of context and everyone, omg, especially iwa and kyo just froze
‘what,,, did you just say?’
iwa asked in a dangerously low voice and you shrugged
‘you told me to distract him, iwa-san, so i did. he was happy and satisfied and thats all that matters, right?’
you shot them a smile and oiks had such a smug smile when iwa looked at him and he was about to hit him when kyo just came out of nowhere and YEETED the smile off of his face
oikawa screamed
just a wittle blurb about this bc i totally love this :( and he totally needs more love and some of my readers love oikawa and want oikawa manager content so here it is!!! feast on these crumbs!!!!

Headcanon: Going Into Labor At The Garrison
Request: None really, you guys just really seem to like this series and, honestly, I do too.
Arthur Shelby x Reader
Warnings: language, pregnancy, barely edited
A/N: You guys really love the ones I did for Tommy, Michael, and Finn so I decided to one for Arthur and John as well. The one for John should, fingers crossed, be out later today. Requests are open at the moment for everything. If you have any questions about it, my rules page probably has the answer and if not, just message me. Hope you guys enjoy.
Part One (Arthur) / Part Two (Finn) / Part Three (John) / Part Four (Michael) / Part Five (Thomas)
Masterlist
The room was full of laughter at something Finn had said. His aunt didn’t find it as amusing, earning a smack from her. “Watch it, young man.”
You shifted next to Arthur, his arm slung over your shoulder, holding you close. He glanced over at you, having felt you move against him. “You alright, dear?” he whispered in your ear.
You nodded, giving him a smile before turning your attention back to what John was saying.
Since finding out you were pregnant, Arthur was happier then he’d ever been. It didn’t stop him from drinking or fight, but you never expected it to. You never wanted to change anything about the man you loved.
Your husband wasn’t as protective as you thought he would be. He would done anything for his family but he never kept you from doing as you please. If you wanted to go somewhere, he’d let you go and depending on where it was he’d tag along.
He was more nurturing than anything, something no one expected from a man with such a brutish exterior.
Resting your hands against your swollen stomach, you glanced at the watch on Arthur’s hand, stifling a yawn. It was late, and though you wanted to stay, your brain was beginning to become foggy with exhaustion.
“Arthur, love, I’m tired.”
He nodded kissing the side of your head before turning to his brothers. “We’re gonna head out, Y/n’s tired-” He stood from the table so he could help you up. “-and I won’t have to put up with Finn’s shit at home.”
A cheeky smile covered Finn’s face. He felt no guilt for the trouble he’d caused for his family early in the day.
You bid everyone good night as Arthur handed over your coat and slipped his own on, receiving a chorus in return.
Before Arthur could step out of the room, Polly called him. He looked over at his Aunt, brow raised. “What Pol?”
“Any pain, and I mean any, you call me Arthur Shelby,” she demanded. “You men know nothing of childbirth and I don’t need you freaking her out.”
He nodded, glances at you. “Don’t worry, Polly. She’ll probably kick me out if I do.” That earned a chuckle from Tommy.
“We’ll welcome you with open arms when she does,” John smiled at him, laughing.
The walk home was silent, peaceful as Arthur held a cigarette in one hand and your in the other. Your pace was slow, but neither of you were in any rush. You quiet enjoyed walking around Small Heath and even more so at night. Arthur, on the other-hand, enjoyed being anywhere with you.
Once in the comfort of you own house, Arthur assisted in taking your coat up, hanging it on the rack for you. “You don’t have to do that, love,” you told him, sliding off your shoes as he hung his coat up.
“Yes, I do.” He hooked his arm around you waist and pulled you close. “Your my wife and I’d do anything for you.”
You pulled him closer, capturing him in a kiss. “I love you,” you mumbled.
He chuckled, breaking the kiss. “I love you, too. Now, let’s get you to bed.”
Arthur grabbed you a glass of water while you climbed the stairs, insisting that Polly would kill him if he didn’t take care of you properly.
You were already in your nightgown, the dress you’d worn early laid in a pile on the floor. “Look who finally decided to show up,” you teased, taking the glass from him and planting a kiss on his lips. “What did Polly tell you before we left?” you asked and set the glass on the night stand.
Your husband shrugged. “To call her when you-”
“Go into labor,” you finished his sentence. “I don’t know how many times she’s told me that.” You sighed and walked over to Arthur.
“Why don’t you get into bed, love?” He grasped your hands, stopping you from unbuttoning the rest of his shirt.
You pouted, “But I’m your wife and I’d do anything for you.”
He rolled his eyes. “You are such a tease,” he smiled. “But you are also the one who said they’re tired.”
You huffed and leaned into him. “Why do you have to be so mean?”
“Says you.” Arthur rubbed your back, enjoy the embrace.
“You are right, now.”
After some convincing, Arthur finally got you to bed, allowing him to strip his clothes off and slide under the covers next to you. You fell asleep in his arms while the two of you talked about a house Arthur had looked at in the country.
It was pitch black, when your eyes fluttered open, a pain in your lower back waking you up. Pushing yourself onto your elbows, you waited for it to go away. It wasn’t hard for you to go back to sleep, you were uncomfortable, but you could manage.
The next morning, Arthur woke you as he rummaged the room for his left shoe, swearing to himself when he couldn’t find it. “Did you check under the bed?” you asked, voice groggy with sleep.
Your husband looked up in surprise. “Sorry I woke you,” he mumbled, checking under the bed. He sighed when he reappeared with a shoe. “How do you do it, Y/n?” he questioned, leaning across the bed to kiss you.
As you had nothing to do, you decided to spend the day with your husband and the first thing on his agenda was to stop by the Garrison.
You pushed the door open, being greeted by John and Tommy, Arthur right behind you. “Morning boys,” you greeted, taking a seat at the bar.
“Mornin’ Y/n,” John said before he turned to his brother. “Mornin’ Arthur.”
Before much else could be said, Tommy started talking business. You sat there, content listening to the men talk. Then the pain that’d woken you had made it’s way back and you did your best to let it pass.
It had hit you multiple times during the morning while you got dressed and made breakfast, but you brushed it off as nothing. You brushed it off, assuming that it would be more painful if it was something.
Once one wave past over, another hit you, stronger than the last. You let out a shaky breath, grasping the back with your hands, knuckles turning white.
You couldn’t ignore the pain any longer and tugged on your husband’s arm from where he stood next to you. He turned, eyes full of panic when he saw your face contort in pain. “Call Polly.”
“You hurt the lady,” Arthur shouted at John. His brother ran over to the phone, praying that Polly answered her phone. Turning back to you, Arthur cradled your face as you leaned into his touch. “We need to get you home.”
He helped you off the bar stool just as Tommy walked out of the back room where the phone was. “Polly wants to know how long you’ve been having contractions.”
You sighed, knowing Arthur would scold you for your answer. “I don’t know, sometime last night,” you let out as another contraction started. Just like you assumed, Arthur shot you a look but was unable to say anything as Tommy opened his month again.
“You hear that, John?” His younger brother confirmed he had before Tommy asked another question. “You’re water hasn’t broken yet, has it, Y/n?”
You were about to nod, clutching onto your husband, when something ran down your legs landing on the floor. That gave both Polly and Tommy their answer.
“Shit, tell Polly to head to the pub,” he shouted at his brother as both Arthur and Tommy ushered you into the private room. It would be the most private and comfortable place for you to deliver as there wouldn’t be time to get you home.
Polly burst through the door not five minutes later, having run all the way from her house. “Where is she?” the woman asked John who was leaned against the bar before she saw you and Arthur in the private room, Tommy leaning against the doorway. “Jesus Christ, you two out,” she demanded, pointing at her nephew.
They wouldn’t dare fight their aunt on the matter and the two fleet the room, Arthur kiss you on the temple before he left.
With the door shut behind them and the sound of the pub doors opening and closing, Polly knew you were finally left in peace. “Alright, darling, let’s bring this baby into the world.”
You nodded and did as she asked you. Polly was an amazing coach, keeping you calm during the whole ordeal. And with her help, sweaty and tired, you held your baby against your chest. His soft cries died down as he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Polly looked down at you, wiping her hands on a towel. “I’m gonna go fetch Arthur. Let’s hope he hasn’t lost it yet.”
You chuckled at how your husband had likely handled this whole ordeal. He was probably loosing his mind, not just because your baby had been born in his pub, but also because you never mention the contractions you’d felt earlier in the day.
Not even a minute later, Arthur stood in the door way, love in his eyes as he watched you coo over your son. You glanced up, a smile brightening your face. “Come here, love.” You extended a hand out to him.
With hesitation, Arthur took your hand and sat next to you. “He looks just like you,” he muttered, kissing your hair.
“Here,” you gently placed your son in his father’s arms. “It’s alright, Arthur.” You laid your head against his shoulder, feeling how tense he was with the infant in his arms. “He won’t break.”
“I know, love. I know.” He looked down at his boy. “Nothing will hurt Henry Shelby, nothing,” he declared.
You smiled at your two boys, content with the name you’d decided on weeks ago. It was a strong name from a boy you knew would need it with the family he was born into.

“Good work today! We’ll see you at dinner!”
You waved goodbye to the managers as you made your way back to where the boys were practicing with Shimizu and Yachi. You stretched your arms over your head and let out a groan while your friends chuckled at your reaction.
“You really did overwork yourself yesterday, huh?” Yachi asked while she tied her jacket around her waist.
Slumping over, you yawned and nodded. “Umm yeah, I guess so. I didn’t even realize how much I played till we all talked about it over dinner. Yu-nii wouldn’t let me hear the end of it.”
Your mind flashed back to the night before when the libero rapidly shook your shoulders. He yelled your ear off while the rest of the team laughed at your relationship. It didn’t help that your face was blank while trying to continue on with your meal. You’ve heard it from him all before but you couldn’t help it when you lost track of time. All you wanted to do was peacefully eat your dinner then knock out for the night and yet Nishinoya made it his job to make sure the entire camp heard how reckless you had been.
“Well, at least something good came out of it though.” Shimizu laughed with a teasing glint in her eyes.
Your cheeks grew warm as she referred to Kageyama carrying you into the cafeteria and half of the camp ended up freaking out over it. “Hey! You promised you wouldn’t tease anymore.”
Shimizu smiled and Yachi laughed out loud and patted your shoulders. “It’s nice to see some progress between you two.”
“He was just being nice.” you huffed.
“Kageyama isn’t just nice to anyone, y’know,” Shimizu added.
“I told him that it was okay to just walk side by side though!”
“And yet he still offered to carry you~” Yachi teased.
“...It was my knee, okay?” you pouted and pointed to the said body part that was wrapped in KT Tape with a brace covering it. To make sure that you listened to his lecture, Nishinoya took it upon himself to wake up earlier than he typically would to give you his stash of Tiger Balm and extra case of KT tape in case you ran out.
“Right, whatever you say(Y/N)-chan.” she chuckled and Shimizu added on, “But please take it easy tonight, Noya-san even said you shouldn’t play again until we get back home.”
“Ugh, whatever. It’s my body not his, I can do whatever I want.” you waved and rolled your eyes as the three of you arrived at the first gymnasium. As much as you appreciated his worrying, you were finally getting the chances to play and work on your skills again.
“I’ll leave you to it then?” Shimizu asked.
Yachi nodded as you saluted and the older girl waved goodbye before she made her way towards the second gymnasium to check up on the others who were working on the synchronized attack. When you made your way into the gym that you were assigned to help, Yachi split ways with you at the door and sauntered towards the other court to help with the second-year members while you walked towards your side and waved to Coach Ukai and Kageyama. Picking up the ball that rolled away from missing a water bottle, you gave the setter an encouraging smile when he locked eyes with you.
“Alright, now that (L/N) is here I can properly watch you.” Coach Ukai smirked and nodded for you to take his place.
Every time you tossed the ball, Kageyama continued to miss by being off by a little bit. After a couple more tries, the frustration on his face became more evident. You pursed your lips when you noticed his demeanor become tenser and a small scowl could be seen on his face. He cursed underneath his breath when he missed once more and Coach Ukai finally stepped in with some tips to help him.
“Kageyama, don’t think of the bottle as a target. Actually, visualize it. As much as you can, visualize a spike.”
You understood where Ukai was coming from: rather than setting at a set point, Kageyama had to remember that his target was moving at different speeds and points of the court. His expression turned thoughtful as Coach Ukai walked back towards the sidelines and stretched his back.
He suddenly snapped his fingers and pointed at you. “Ah (L/N), before I forget, can you give this to Takeda-sensei? I can take over for a bit until you come back.”
You walked up to Coach Ukai as he handed you some documents and nodded. Before you took a step towards the door, you couldn’t help but look back at Kageyama who was looking down at the volleyball in his hands.
“Don’t worry about Kageyama, he’ll be fine.” He reassured you when he noticed that your gaze followed Kageyama while he walked off to the side to get a quick sip of water.
“Alright if you say so.” You sighed and began to make your way out of the gym. “I’ll be back!”
“Take care.” “Be safe and hurry back idiot.”
You laughed at Kageyama’s words and walked your way through the school. Since you had time to yourself, you decided to check on the rest of the team. You peeped in the gym that Shimizu was in to see that she was recording the synchronized attack for the boys to look over after they were done for critiques. On the other side, Nishinoya was practicing his jump with Asahi, and your assumption of where the hyperactive spiker was confirmed. Making your way towards the third gym, you were impressed to see that Tsukishima and Hinata were both very focused on the practice game with Kuroo, Bokuto, and Akaashi. Lev was also added into the mix and your eyes traveled towards the scoreboard and as they finished the first round. You couldn’t control your laughter when your eyes landed on the names of their makeshift teams. All of the heads turned towards your direction and you waved your hands so they wouldn’t pay attention to you.
“What are you laughing at, (Y/N)-chan?” Bokuto asked.
You pointed at the names they wrote down and bent over to help catch your breath. “You guys really put your spirit animals as the team names?”
“Isn’t it cool?” Kuroo smirked as he walked up to you and ruffled your hair.
“Don’t. Touch. The. Hair. Tetsu.” you groaned and poked him in the stomach as retaliation.
He laughed and stepped away to give you some space. “Alright, chibi-chan, geeze can’t you let me have some fun?”
You rolled your eyes and walked over towards Hinata. He smiled at you and laughed when you couldn’t help but ruffle his hair.
“What are you doing here, (Y/N)-chan?” Hinata asked then gave you a hug.
“I just wanted to check up on you guys.” you shrugged and waved at the others that gathered around.
“So how’s it been?”
“It’s been pretty good, these guys are slowly getting better,” Bokuto answered your question as he pointed towards Karasuno and Nekoma’s first years.
“Um...We are technically opponents as soon as we’re in a match, right?” Tsukishima asked. “Why are you giving us advice?” He continued before wiping his face with his towel.
Kuroo put on an angelic smile and raised his hand to put it over his heart. “I’ve always been a nice person.”
You and Tsukishima gave him blank expressions while Hinata just watched him, not knowing how to act.
“You don’t have to look at me like that.” Kuroo sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “I want to make the Battle at the Garbage Dump a reality. Well, it’s practice for me, as well, so don’t sweat the small things.”
You snickered at his reaction and went up to pinch his cheeks. “Awww look at cute Lil Tetsu-nii trying to act all cool for his juniors.”
“Get off of me, you brat.” Kuroo groaned and tried to push you away.
You stuck out your tongue at him and Bokuto slung his arms over the both of them. “Alright now that story time’s over let’s get back to it, yeah?”
“We’ll catch up after, alright (Y/N)-chan?”
You nodded in response while the boys gathered on the court and Bokuto gave her a cheeky smile. “I’m looking forward to the ramen this weekend!”
You gulped and glared at Kuroo who was laughing. “YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO TELL HIM AT THE END YOU IDIOT!”
Flipping your childhood friends off, you rubbed your temples as you stormed out of the gym and shook your head at their antics. ‘They are literally going to make me go broke this weekend with how huge their appetites are.’
--
“Alright, here’s the next one!” you called out.
Kageyama took in a deep breath and zoned in on his focus. Progress was finally being made after practicing the drills all throughout the week. He was glad that everything was settling into his muscle memory. Trying to imagine where Hinata would appear, Kageyama tossed the ball to the bottle furthest away from him. You gasped while you watched the ball spiral towards the designated bottle and fall right on top of it. With a proud smile, you jumped excitedly and clapped your hands. Ever since you returned back to the gym, Kageyama’s focus was sharper than ever and his progress skyrocketed within the next hour of practicing. He smirked and you noticed the new and fiery look in his eyes.
“Toss me one more!”
Like previous sessions, you two continued to practice late into the night for him to really get it into his body. It was down to the littlest details and he even asked you try and spike some with Ukai tossing a couple of balls to make the exercise even more effective. For the most part, Kageyama was in his own world to make sure that he got his sets down. When Ukai left you to your own devices, you would give him critiques here and there to make sure that his accuracy remained the same. For extra reassurance, you made it a thing that if he couldn’t get the full line five times in a row, then Kageyama would have to restart until he got it right. You admired his determination and couldn’t wait to see how things played out.
At some point, Kuroo and Bokuto had stopped by to check up on you after they wrapped up their own practice. You caught up with them during one of your breaks and Kageyama would glance over at you with them every once in a while. Kuroo caught on to his behavior and smirked. While you were complaining about how your dad kept texting how excited he was for you staying over the weekend to Bokuto, Kuroo made his way over to the setter and nodded towards their little setup.
“So how’s it going with you guys?” he asked and sat next to Kageyama.
“It’s going good, I almost have it down.”
“Nah kid, I mean how’s your progress with chibi-chan.”
“Huh?”
Kuroo rolled his eyes and nodded his head at you who was being chased around by Bokuto. The squeals and laughter from the two of you echoed through the gym and Kuroo chuckled to the crazy energy Bokuto always managed to rub off on you.
“Based off of last night’s events, one can only assume that you both have a thing for each other.”
“I do not,” Kageyama grumbled as he looked to the side and aggressively chugged his water.
Kuroo laughed at the younger boy’s reaction and patted his shoulder. “You make it clear as day, but (Y/N) on the other hand, she’d need you to actually spell it out for her.”
“We’re not dating and I don’t think she’d go for me anyway,” he replied back.
“Oh trust me, she’d totally go for you. She looks at you and acts differently when you’re together. I’ve known her long enough with Bokuto and I’m pretty sure Nishinoya can see that she has a crush on you.”
“You guys are just teasing us.”
“Usually I’d say yes, but for right now, I’m trying to help you out.”
Kageyama blinked and turned to look at Kuroo who had a soft smile on his face, his eyes locked on you. “Why are you helping me?”
Without taking his eyes off of you, Kuroo simply said, “Because (Y/N) deserves the world and I’ve never seen her like that. She’s the little sister I’ve always wanted, y’know? It’s the same for Bokuto too. She’s helped us in so many ways and we’ve grown protective over her.”
Kageyama’s eyes widened and Kuroo looked back with a small smirk. “You’re so easy to read, kid. We just want her to be happy after all that she’s been through. As you can see, (Y/N) is passionate about anything she puts her mind to whether it’s volleyball or friendships. Relationship-wise, she tends to wear her heart on her sleeve which doesn’t always have a happy ending. Over the years, we’ve seen her during her puppy love phase and it crushed Bokuto and me to see her so dejected when her previous crushes turned her down.”
“Oh…”
“Bokuto always says she’s one in a million. I’d have to agree because both of us always wanted to keep her as our little gem.” Kageyama couldn’t help but notice the way that Kuroo’s facial expression softened while they watched you jump onto Bokuto’s back and spun you around. “If you are actually serious about her, I’d say not to wait too long to do something about it though, because you never know who could swoop in and try to whisk her off of her feet,” Kuroo added with a pointed look.
Kageyama hummed in response as you and Bokuto waved them over. His mind flashed back towards the previous days in the week and the comments that he overheard other players saying about you. Just like how they’ve fawned over Shimizu, now that you and Yachi were about of the team, it was new eye candy for the other volleyball players to admire. He’s seen some try to flirt with you during the dead time at the camp and he couldn’t help the burning sensation in his chest. Every time he came across moments like that, all he wanted to do was take you away so all of your attention was on him.
Kuroo sighed and pushed himself up before offering his hand to Kageyama. He took it silently and before they walked towards the center of the court, Kuroo tightened his grip on his hand and said, “If you hurt her, you don’t only have to go through Nishinoya and the others on your team. Best believe you’ll find me and Bokuto standing on your doorstep ready to pummel you when you least expect it, got it, King?”
Kageyama gulped when he saw the dangerous glint in Kuroo’s eyes and nodded. Happy with his response, Kuroo’s demeanor immediately relaxed, and laughed while slinging his arm over his shoulders.
“Tetsu-nii I swear to Kami if you’re bullying Tobio I’m gonna kill you!” you threatened when you managed to catch a glimpse of Kageyama’s reaction at the end of their conversation.
“Nah we were just bro bonding, chibi-chan.” He responded.
Kageyama met your gaze that fell upon him and you gave him a helpless smile. “Sorry for that one, he doesn’t know when to stop sometimes.”
“No worries, he was stating the truth, (Y/N),” Kageyama said.
“That’s good, I’m glad to see the people that I care about getting along.” you smiled brightly.
“Don’t worry, Kags and I will have our bro bonding soon too!” Bokuto added and crossed his arms, a deadly smile on his face.
“Oof, if you thought I was bad, wait until you talk to Bokuto,” Kuroo murmured before brushing past Kageyama and walking towards the entrance.
Bokuto waved at you two before jogging to keep up with Kuroo who lazily waved goodbye. You only shook your head in amusement at their actions before turning back to Kageyama and patted his shoulder.
“Ready?”
Kageyama hummed in agreement as his mind was drifted away with all the new information Kuroo had told him. ‘Was it that obvious to everyone?’ He looked back to you who had walked off to gather some stray volleyballs near the basket. ‘I need to clear my mind, I don’t think I can focus anymore…’
He cleared his throat and you whirled around to look at him. “I think we should end here tonight.”
“Are you sure? I can still go for another thirty minutes or so.” You asked with a raised eyebrow and played with the volleyball in your hands.
Kageyama nodded and said, “My body is already cooled down and I guess time passed quickly when Bokuto-san and Kuroo-san were here. I feel like I’m at a good place with the sets.”
He watched as you understandingly nodded and gave him another smile. “Sounds good.”
“I’ll walk you to the room after.” he simply said as he walked up to you and began to push the volleyball cart towards the storage room.
“You don’t have to Tobio.” you insisted while you walked behind him.
“I don’t want you to get lost, shorty.”
“I won’t get lost, milk boy. It's literally a short walk past the dining hall then around the faculty building. ”
“Noya-san would kill me if he found out that I let you walk alone, it’s too dark out.”
“Are you actually being a gentleman?” you teased as he pushed the cart inside the storage room.
You leaned against the wall while he walked back out and locked its door. He rolled his eyes and walked towards the bench that had both of your belongings.
“Can you just let me be nice to you?” he muttered and wordlessly slung your duffel bag over his shoulder.
“Nah, it’s fun to tease you.” you laughed and tried to take your bag from him.
Kageyama easily dodged your arm and couldn’t help but flick your forehead in response.
“...idiot,” he muttered before slipping his hands into his pockets and walked out of the gym.
“I know.”
“Are you coming or not? You can just sleep here if you want slowpoke.” Kageyama called out as he looked over his shoulder to see you closing the doors of the gym.
“Whatever, blueberry,” you responded and stuck your tongue out at him.
Kageyama rolled his eyes and continued to lead the way towards the building you were staying at. As you slightly lagged behind him, you admired the way that he looked from behind. His back was relaxed rather than tensed as if he carried the whole weight of the team. There was sort of a serene look on his face now that things were working in his favor. It was nice knowing that he trusted you enough to show you this relaxed side of him outside of practice time. He looked a little more vulnerable than usual and it made you happy that he was comfortable with you. Your eyes glanced at your duffle that was hanging from his shoulder with his on the other one. You bit your thumb to stop the smile that was threatening to come out because of the sweet gesture. ‘Can he get any cuter?’ you thought to yourself as you made your way to his side. Kageyama clicked his tongue when you finally walked side by side and you laughed. This was your time together and no one was able to take that away from you two.

Joel Miller’s playlist for the bonfire occasions: H E R E
Late summer and early fall of 2037:
It took you a few more days to pick up enough courage and to go for a bow shooting lesson. It was the damned bonfire that you couldn't get out of your head. The feelings were brewing inside of you while you were confused to say the less. Who was even Joel Miller? You couldn't tell anymore.
There were times when Joel could confuse the living hell out of you. Like when he came to see you to your garage. Or that one evening. One thing, you knew for sure. Something had opened up inside of you. Suddenly, you felt opened up to imagine Joel not as a mentor, not as Ellie's father, yet you could see that he is a man. And a pretty handsome one for that matter. Every time he met you in Jackson, he gave you a small smile - once, he stopped by and asked about giving you a guitar lesson. Being surprised, you nodded.
Joel even gave you the tapes by A-Ha he promised he would lend you that night, so you listened to them at home. And these guys were talented as hell. It was a true joy to listen to their songs.
For the first time, you weren't excited about the lesson itself. Like, sure, you still wanted to learn how to shoot from a bow, but your mind was focusing solely on the realization you'll be there together for hours, alone, in each other's company. The idea of being alone with the man, maybe finding more about him, be allowed to talk to him without worries, that was awesome.
It was so strange, realizing something like that in the first place. For the first time, you've decided to have an afternoon lesson, so you had enough time to visit Eve. Ellie wanted to go there with you, but there were some things you didn't want Ellie to hear. You brought your lunch and all the necessary stuff with you, even the bow and the quiver, and a small flower of wild poppies into the dinosaur vase. When you arranged the flowers to look good, you sat down with the box on your knees, looking at the tombstone.
"I told you I'll be back pretty soon. It was just three days and holy hell, you wouldn't believe how much stuff went down, I swear." - You chuckled, looking at her name. Just like the first time you talked to her, this was helping you out a lot. It was somehow calming you down, having at least the feeling that Eve is there with you, listening to each word. - "The bonfire a few days back was... Great. I'm still kinda all over the place because all of it, and Jesus, you'd laugh so much if you'd be here now. I don't know yet, but I have the feeling that boy trouble is on its way. For the first time and for real this time." - A sigh came out of your lips as you played around with the veggies in your pasta salad.
"I can tell you'd be surprised... Maybe just halfway surprised it's about old Miller, huh? What can I tell you? I didn't know I have it in me. You'd probably tell me some of your lessons and tell me to listen to my heart, I know, I know. Why don't you answer me?" - You mumbled to the tombstone. It was childish to expect any kind of answer from the piece of stone, yet your heart didn't desire anything more than that.
"Oh, you're speechless, old-timer, I see. I'll try to sort it out. Maybe it's just a phase? It won't last too long for sure. I've probably just drunk too much... At least you're not on my mind that much lately. That's a good thing, right?" - With another sigh, you finished your lunch and packed the box into your backpack, remaining yourself to wash it later. - "Time I was on my way again. I'm probably late anyway. If anything happens, I come to tell you, don't worry." - You chuckled at the tombstone, climbing on your feet.
Then, you kissed the tips of your fingers, running them along with her name with a sad smile. Joel didn't like it when you came late to your sessions, yet you were already ridiculously late probably. As if that wasn't enough, just as you passed around the cafeteria, Ellie caught up with you with all of her things packed.
"What are you doing?" - You looked at her when she was trying to act unsuspiciously. There was this one small thing that happened at the bonfire - when you were sitting next to the old man, signing a song you didn't know at all, Dina was looking at you two. Suddenly, she turned her face at Ellie, saying a sentence Ellie remember by heart: They would be a nice couple.
Dina was drunk at the point, yet it made Ellie freak out. You and her old man in a romantic relationship? No way in hell. Yet as the days passed, the thought came up in her head more and more often. She wasn't all over the place, but it made her furrow.
"I'm coming with you. To look after you and to be your emotional support." - The green-eyed girl answered, making you stop to look her in the face with visible confusion. You loved Ellie - you did. But this was your chance to talk to Joel without being afraid someone hears you. And the reason she came up with was just dumb. Which the girl realized as soon as you scoffed happily.
"I'll be just fine with Joel. He had to put up with my ass for a month and a half already. I bet one more afternoon won't kill him." - The answer made Ellie sure she lost this battle due to bad arguments. Next time she would want to inspect the overall situation, it can't be a last-minute plan, but some well-thought reasons you won't be able to say a word against.
Dina was drunk, Ellie reminded herself inside her head. She probably has misunderstood the situation. She probably badly read the whole thing. Yet for a reason, you made Ellie worried she might be your number one for too long. Which resolved in her hugging you as her life mattered on it at the moment. Overwhelmed, you hugged her back, closing your eyes at that contact.
"I love you, baby." - She mumbled and clung onto you even tighter than before. Without a doubt, you nodded, closing your eyes for a moment. What on Earth was this for? Ellie suddenly seemed to be so gentle and vulnerable. It almost made you tell her to come along - Joel would be overwhelmed by joy, yet you didn't want to see the girl acting up. - "And I do love you back. Anything on Earth won't change that, sweet pie."
With that, you let her go, stepping a bit away. - "I need to get going. He'll be pissed if I leave him there for too long. See you later!" - You cried out happily, already walking backward in the direction of the gate.
As you suspected, he was already sitting there with an empty expression, watching the ground in front of him. Yet as soon as he saw you in the distance, he stood up, watching you coming closer with his thumb behind his belt. As you tried to catch your breath, your hands were already moving in a swift motion, telling him you want to say something.
"I'm so sorry. Eve was so damn talkative today and then Ellie wanted to talk too... I'm so sorry for making you wait." - Came out of you when you finally were able to at least somehow talk. - "How late am I?"
The man looked at his broken watch with a furrow, giving you a rather serious look after that. - "You're way past I don't give a damn. I told you I won't pressure you for a while now... But don't take advantage of that, yea?" - He answered, having you scoff playfully at the answer. He was impossible sometimes. Right after that exchange, he turned his face at you, having an honest smile there. - "We'll be droppin' our backpacks on the cabin, I have somethin' to show you. Special plans."
That made you excited. Joel never wanted to show you anything besides where the prize you were going for with your bow was. Maybe something moved in him at the bonfire too? Could that be? Well, it made you grin as you thought about it during the way to his sanctuary.
You've talked throughout the whole journey. You spoke about serious and not-so-serious stuff, laughing sometimes. And just as Joel told you, you both stopped at the cabin to put your stuff there.
To your surprise, his rocking chair was finally finished - naturally, you as the kind would you were, eagerly tried it to tell him if it's good. It sure as hell could be felt that Joel was a carpenter back in the day, as he told you before. To be honest, you never sat in anything more comfortable. With a hum, you closed your eyes, rocking yourself.
"This is enough for me, Texas. You can go do your stuff, you'll find me here once you're done, yeah?" - You waved your palm at him when you heard his steps stopping in front of you. Gently, you opened your eyes just to see Joel leaning towards into the terrace's railing, one of his thumbs was under his belt as usual, and he had a boyish grin on his face.
"You wish, youngblood. Get up your lazy ass and come, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity you don't wanna miss." - Joel scoffed, locking the door to the cabin, motioning his head in the direction of the woods. With a dramatic sigh, you got up and followed him.
"What is it? Did you find gold?" - You tried your guess, having the man shook his head. - "Oh, I know. The fountain of eternal youth. No? Hmm... I see! You've found some super-lab, am I right? No? Then what is it?" - There was a hundred other guesses you had inside your head, the boldest one including taking at least one article of clothing off.
"Patience," - "Is a virtue. I know, I know. I'm just fucking curious." - A giggle left your lips. It could be felt that you feel safe and contained, which was healing your soul, to be honest.
To your surprise, you stopped at an empty meadow inside the woods, about half an hour away from the cabin. Joel dragged you behind the tall grass, creating a small window for both of you to watch something. What did he mean by that? What were you supposed to see?
For the first hour, you've been excitedly watching your surroundings, but as you got bored, you started to chit chat with the man more and more - after an hour and a half of just sitting there, you sighed and laid down, looking at the darkening sky.
"Ugh, how long you plan on just sitting here?" - You mumbled tiredly, already feeling the air getting cold. You should've at least taken the sweatshirt from your bag - or he could tell you to take it.
"Have some patience and faith, will you? It can be gone already, but I don't think so since I checked on it yesterday." - Joel sighed, mumbling back to you. Your eyes rolled on their own - yet just as you wanted to mock Joel, a hind came out of the woods, looking around. Swiftly, you got yourself on your heels, trying to see the animal better.
It took you a moment to see what was the animal searching for. Just when it lowered its head to the smaller animal hidden in the bushes, your palm caught Joel's as you leaned in to see the scenery better. You didn't even realize you've done that. The man wasn't watching the hind and its cub, he first took in the sight of your nails gently sinking deeper into his skin as your lips opened in pure wonder.
It was such an innocent gesture made in the wave of spontaneous curiosity and wonder you've felt, but even that told Joel just enough. For example, you were trying to share this moment with him. You trusted him enough to catch his hand. It made the man relax a bit when he leaned with a smile to your shoulder.
You both had to stay as quiet as possible so you wouldn't scare the animal away. - "It's a small whitetail dear. I always thought they're only in Alabama, but I bumped into the hind a few days back. Seems like we made it on time." - Joel explained, having you turning your face at him. It shocked you a bit since you almost bumped your nose to his with how close he was. You've been staring at him for a moment, thinking about how good it feels. Yes, you thought about leaning in for the damn kiss, but you decided against it in the end.
The moment was already special as it was. With a startled look, you realized that you're holding his hand in yours. It was warm, a bit rough, but dry. Only your fingers were wet from the sweat. With a sorry look, you held it a bit tighter before letting it go. Yet he still was as close to you as before, just in case you'd like to tell him something.
The night was turning into night and even though it was getting colder and colder, you still sat there, watching the small deer trying to walk for the very first time. After a while, stars and the moon could be seen shining on the meadow below. Joel would tell you that you should go already, yet he couldn't bring himself to ruin such a moment for you. It could be felt you're believing in the small animal - whenever it fell, you bit your lower lip and furrowed, and when it looks like it's about to finally walk, you leaned in with childish excitement.
"I've never thought I'll see something like that." - A whisper came out of you when you were picking up the stuff from the cabin. - "It was one of the best moments of my life. Thank you." - You smiled, walking the known way to Jackson. Joel caught up after a while, having a smile on his lips as well.
"What you be doin' today?" - Joel asked when you saw the Jackson gates in the distance. You were so freaking late. But it seemed that Tommy was informed about your late arrival, so the patrol waved at you, as usual, letting you in. At the moment, your eyes widened.
"Jesus, I promised Ellie to hang out later today. I didn't know this will take too long. Wouldn't you mind..?" - You mumbled frantically, having a sad expression on your face. Joel already showed you he ain't the worst companion to walk you home and you were hoping that he'll walk you even that day, but this was changing the whole thing. What you've been even sorry for?
"Course not, youngblood. I was just curious, that's all. Tell her... I say hi. Would you do that for me?" - The man asked nervously when you walked backward away from him. At his request, you nodded, having a small smile on your lips before you went to pick your food up and to Ellie's place.
The first knock was ignored by her completely. You sighed, massaging your eyes. Was she even at home? Or was there some sneaking out planned later that you didn't know about? To see if she was there, you looked in through the window. Her TV was on, which was a good signal. So, you knocked again.
"Come on. Don't be pissed - I didn't know it will take this long today." - You told her through the door, leaning your forehead into the wood. Not a sound could be heard from the inside. Great. She was pissed. What on Earth were you supposed to do with a pissed girl?
Carefully, you opened up the door, kinda waiting for Ellie to be waiting for you with a pan in her hands, demanding answers. But when the house was silent and you closed the door again, you saw her snuggled up inside her and sleeping.
The following process was quick and practically noiseless - you ate the dinner quicky, brushed your teeth, took care of your hair, and put the pajama on before joining your best friend.
"Who's that?" - The girl mumbled from her sleep, not even bothering to raise her head from the pillow or to open her eyes.
"It's me. I promised you to stop by... But the lesson took way longer than I thought it will, babe." - You answered in a whisper, having the girl smiling sleepily in your direction. - "Don't worry about me. We'll talk in the morning." - A promise was made before you laid down to sleep as well. As usual, it didn't take Ellie too long before she snuggled up to your side.
It wasn't weird for her or you to do that. Ellie was usually seeking some safety in the still of the night - she did so because she often felt like the third week, so she wanted to at least comfort herself when she was sleeping. And you had no problem with it. It was the usual scenario after you fell asleep during the sleepovers. Mostly, you watched movies and since she was the first to doze off, you knew she'll snuggle after a while.
But you had some serious hard time falling asleep. Your brain was projecting you the whole evening, again and again, making you sure that there was something about the man. After some time, just before you fell asleep, you were glad that is was him with whom you could watch such a thing happening.
The next lessons were nice. Sometimes he helped you with the bow, even having competitions with you and winning all of them, other times he brought the guitar. When you were brave enough, you tried to learn something too, but most of the time, you listened to the man playing.
But even though you could be considered a musical anti-talent, you leaned one or two basic songs with Joel as your tutor. Let alone you breaking another string - this time it was on the guitar. You could be impossible sometimes too.
The fall was approaching quickly, maybe a lot quicker than you were realizing. The leaves started to fall and dressed in colorful coats, the air got thicker and colder, the nights were starting earlier - having you wearing boots and sweatshirts to the lessons.
Yet, in Joel's eyes, you were finally skilled enough to hunt. He let you start with the rabbits before getting into the bigger animals, having endless patience with you. Though the method of right and wrong, you learned how to make a small noise as possible, sneaking like a freaking ninja by the half of September.
"Get the elbow higher." - A sharp whisper hit your ears, but you didn't move an inch. You had the situation under control, having the rabbit just where you wanted it. Taking in the last breath, you steadied yourself and sent the arrow flying.
And to your surprised, it not only missed the target by at least one foot, but it also made the animal run away. All you could see on Joel's face was that I told you so attitude showing off. - "Will you ever learn to listen? I told you that your elbow was too low."
"I had it. It must be the air clearly, it's getting thicker. And the mist I'm front of my nose ain't helping either." - You mumbled and walked for your arrow. It was still usable, so you put it into your quiver.
"So now she's usin' air as an excuse, 'kay." - The old man chuckled mockingly, having you rolling your eyes. - "It's gettin' late. We'll do best if we head back for now. Come on, kiddo."
"Yes, sir. Where do you want to go next time? I heard there's this good place just an hour from here, we can have a competition who’s the better one." - You asked with a big smile. Something inside told you that what Joel was about to say was a thing you won't be happy about - the man quickly glanced at you, furrowing a bit at your words. For a long time, you walked in silence, both of you thinking about your stuff. Until the cabin appeared in the middle of the small meadow, you were both silent.
"You didn't answer my question." - A silent remark left your lips when you both were taking your backpacks on to walk back home. Joel stood in front of you for a while, his thumb behind his belt once again and he nodded at the statement of yours.
"About that... I don't think you need my help anymore. You're good on your own already, trust me, Jesse won't believe how good you are when you show the boy. Also, the weathers gettin' bad, so the circumstances aren't perfect either." - The man answered you finally, making the small smile disappear from your face. You walked closer to him, not quite grasping what was happening.
The sessions were over? That was what Joel was trying to say? Sure, you stopped coming there because of learning the skill a long time ago - you already figured the bow out. It wasn't exactly perfect, but you weren't to worst at it either. The lessons in the woods became more of a fun time with a friend, where you could get lost in the feeling of calmness. You were walking through the woods, side by side, sometimes being quiet the whole time, sometimes you discovered an interesting spot, sometimes you were just joking around.
And he didn't want that anymore. For a reason, it felt like a punch in your stomach. The blood slowly froze in your veins as you tried to figure the man's thoughts out. A tight feeling built around your chest. Sure, you liked the man, but there was no way in hell you'd act on your attraction to him. Did he finally notice the smirks and naughty looks coming from you pretty frequently? Or could he see behind your jokes? Did he found someone else to spend his afternoons with?
"So, I don't have to come next time is what you're trying to say?" - You spoke out loud finally, standing just a foot away from the man. You could feel the warmth coming out of his body, your ears heard the way he was breathing. It was insane.
"All I'm tryin’ to say is that you don't need me anymore. Sure, we can have some hunt from time to time, I would be glad if we would, but spendin' whole afternoons here? Come on. You sure have more things to do, don't you?" - Joel tried to make the whole situation lighter with a chuckle, looking at your confused face.
For you, it was one of those now or never situations. Nobody would know about this unless Joel would tell them. And you knew this man would take everything you'd try to do to the grave rather than humiliating you in front of everyone. You could just try to kiss him, right? No-one would hear about it. So you nodded at your confused thoughts, having the man watching you with confusion. It didn't feel right to leave the place until you'd do it at least once.
Shakily, you took in a deep breath before your fingers wrapped around his light jacket, pulling him closer than before. You made sure his lips met yours in the half before you closed your eyes and kissed him with pure passion. Joel didn't know what to do at all. He would never expect something so unplanned from a girl he knew for a fairly long time. The man honestly thought he get to know you well throughout the months you spent together, but obviously, this wasn't the case at all.
Would he kiss you back if you'd stay there a little longer? Would he put his hands somewhere on you if you'd wait just for one more second? Was he surprised - and was it a pleasant surprise? Those questions were left unanswered, because just as spontaneously as you started the kiss, you pulled away from Joel, having the man standing there with his eyes widened as he looked at you in a different light than before.
What the fuck had you done? Sure, in theory, this situation sounded nice, but also, in your mind was his direction way different than a surprised staring. You could hear your fastened heartbeat inside your head as you backed off from him, shaking your head with tears on confusion in your eyes. Your fucking cheeks were on fire, both your palms were shaking as you covered your mouth with them.
"Fuck... I mean... Fuck. I'm sorry, Joel." - You whispered before disappearing into the woods. You hadn't enough courage to look him in the eyes anymore - you saw him standing there for a long time after you left. That night, you ran directly to Ellie's house, knowing he won't be looking for your there. In case he would be even searching for you. First, she was working on one of her newest paintings, turning happily upon hearing you - just to see you stand there, looking like a piece of trash, crying heavily.
"Did something happened? Did that old jackass do something to you? I swear to God," - "I... It's... Eve." - You got out, figuring the lie on the spot. Ellie sighed softly, coming closer to hug you tightly. You knew your jacket will be covered in the rest of the paint from her shirt, but you were just glad to have the girl in your arms.
Meeting Joel on the meetings or in the dining room was humiliating. Every time you realized he's in the same room as you are, you felt flustered - all you could do usually was to watch the tips of your boots while biting your lip nervously - like a five-ear-old kid caught stealing. Sometimes, when you weren't looking, the man was watching you when everyone else spent hours talking about the patrol routes.
He wished to know what was the whole damn situation about in the first place. In his mind, the sudden kiss didn't make any sense at all. First, your unreadable reaction, then the kiss, after that you stormed out and now you pretended he doesn't exist? What did he do to deserve such a cold-hearted treatment? As far as Joel could tell, he was the innocent one in all of this.
Ever since the weird moment in front of the cabin, he saw you in a different light than before. Sure, you were still his daughter's best friend, you still were a serious lot younger than he was at the point - but you seemed to be opened about something... Joel didn't know what you were opened about, but there were some options. Yet as soon as you'd try to tell them, no matter how much he'd seem to be interested, he had to turn you down cold-heartedly.
To be honest with himself, he was interested. Ever since the bonfire, there was some kind of a small spark bothering Joel about you. He could feel it coming every time you were near - every time you scooped a bit closer on your hunting sessions, every time you greeted him in the downtown, it was there, not leaving until you left again. But what good would it bring? Starting something, no matter what could ruin many relationships, cause fires, and arguments. That was why it would be better for the man to turn you down rather than trying things out.
One night, he heard a knocking on his door. Joel almost missed it since he was in his small carpentering workshop, working on a new figure while listening to some folk songs. With a sigh, he closed the door and went to open it up. His back was drowned in a cold sweat as soon as he saw you standing behind the door with a helpless expression, hugging yourself. To his surprise, you both remained silent for a second even when he opened up the door, standing just two feet away from you. You nodded inside the house, biting your lips nervously.
"Will you let me in? We have a few things to talk about and... I don't want the whole neighborhood to hear." - A whisper left your lips. Joel groaned at defeat, carefully stepping aside to let you walk in. He checked if the only neighbor who he had hadn't seen you coming in before closing the door again. There were things to talk about indeed, yet Joel was hoping that as soon as the situation will be cleared up, you'll leave just as you came in a few seconds ago.

This Is My Mess - Part 3 [Avengers x Teen!Reader]
Series Master.
I had written out a whole second part with bonding, but my STUPID BROWSER ERASED IT like whAT- so this chapter may feel a bit rushed. Sorry about that :c
Summary: The reader, a teen marvel addict who is *kind of* badass, gets transferred from the real world dimension to the Avengers’ dimension, ends up helping to defeat Loki’s army of Chitauri.
Warnings: Swearing, Violence.
I’m writing the rest of this mini-series in 1st person.
————
A day later, in Germany
“Are you sure about this Tony?” I asked lowly.
I was clinging to Tony’s back as he hovered above a building. “Nope. But if we want a chance, you need to try.”
I gulped back my fears, and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. I nodded. “Okay.”
Then, I released my arms from around Tony’s neck, and landed semi-gracefully on the building’s roof, tripping towards the edge. I gave a thumbs up to Tony, who flew up to the Quinjet. I peered over the roof and watched as Captain America fought Loki below me.
My heart pounded. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” I mumbled to myself.
“You know what to do.” I heard Tony say through my earpiece, which he had stocked me with.
I nodded, and watched as he helped Captain America. “Make your move Reindeer Games...” I said quietly.
I grinned, and stepped back, getting a running start, before leaping off the roof, and actually sticking the landing, right in front of Loki, next to Tony. On the trip down, I had pulled out my handgun. I pointed it right at Loki, as he used his magic to remove his armor and helmet, putting up his hands in defense. I smirked, and tilted my head lowering my gun.
“Good move.” I stated, finishing off Tony’s line. He moved his head to me for a moment, before looking back at Loki.
“Yeah, what she said.” Tony said.
I grinned in triumph as the Quinjet made a shaky landing. “Mr. Stark.”
“Captain.”
Steve glanced at me. I pointed to myself quickly. “Uh, I’m [Y/n].” He looked at me skeptically. Steve and Tony then seized Loki by the arms, and dragged him towards the Quinjet. I stood by their side, walking towards it with them, smiling.
“Hi.” I said, mostly aimed towards Loki. He glanced at me emotionlessly.
Tony looked at me. “Kid, don’t associate with the murderer.”
I crossed my arms. “Yeah, yeah. I know things remember?”
“That doesn’t make you invincible.”
We reached the Quinjet and climbed inside. Natasha glanced to me. “You got a kid involved in this?”
“Yeah, a lethal kid.”
I pulled out my knife and spun it in the air, giving Natasha an innocent smile. She raised an eyebrow whilst looking over her shoulder at me. “Yeah, okay.”
I stood up and went over to introduce myself, slightly still giddy. “I’m [Y/n] [L/n].”
Natasha looked me up and down quickly, before offering her hand and smiling. “Natasha Romanoff.” I took her hand and gave it a single shake. She quickly went back to flying the jet, as I moved back and sat next to Loki. He kept eyeing me suspiciously, and I just gave him a glare. He really was terrible in this movie. I could hear the Avengers talking, but I wasn’t really paying attention. I was waiting for the lightning and thunder.
Then, I saw the flash of light. I smiled, and smirked towards Loki who looked to me then back outside.
“What’s the matter, scared of a little lightning?” Steve asked.
Loki looked back outside. “I’m not overly fond of what follows...”
I stood up. “Guess that’s my cue! Thor will be here soon, so watch out for the bang that will happen right about-” Then, Thor landed on the top of the Quinjet. I sent my finger to point to the ramp as Tony opened the door, now adorned in his helmet again, Thor landing majestically on the open ramp and grabbing Loki by the neck. In a flash, Tony, Thor and Loki are outside.
Steve is looking at me with wide eyes. I shrugged. “I told Tony already. I know things. And I can’t tell you how till we get back to the Helicarrier. Now, let’s go get that God.” And with that, I grabbed a parachute and ran out of the back of the jet, letting out a loud scream of joy as I fell.
I fixed the Parachute onto my back and right as I was about to hit the trees, I pulled the rip-cord and was flung into the air. I slowly descended into the forest, and once I landed, I threw my backpack off, and leaned against a tree as Tony blasted through the trees with Thor. I stood unfazed.
I watched their exchange, slightly bored of the situation. “Don’t insult him, he’ll throw his-” I sighed as Tony got thrown into a tree by Mjolnir. “Hammer.”
I watched as they continued to fight, letting out a yawn. Finally, Captain America showed up. “That’s enough!” He yelled. “Now, I don’t know what you plan on doing here.”
I glanced between the trio, worriedly. “I’ve come here to put an end to Loki’s schemes!” Thor exclaimed. I sighed.
“Then prove it! Put down the hammer.”
“Uhm! Yeah, no! Bad call! He loves his hammer.” Tony warned.
“I’d listen to him if I were-” And then Thor knocks Tony back. I winced before quickly ducking as Thor slammed his hammer down onto Steve’s sheild, creating a loud boom that sent shockwaves crashing through the forest. I pressed against the tree I was leaning against, which was now lying on the ground. I quickly stood up. I surprisingly didn’t have many scratches on my body.
I wheezed as I walked to the trio. “Guys- I tried to tell you- Thor’s a God for a reason-” I mumbled.
Steve glanced at me. “Are we done here?”
I nodded. “Yup. I’ll go get Loki.”
“Ah, ah.” I glared at Tony.
“Uh, yeah, yeah. I know him better than any of you do right now, even Thor.” I said.
“No, you don’t.” Tony argued. I rolled my eyes.
“We’ll see about that.”
I ran up the hill to Loki. “Loki!” I yelled, rushing to him and grabbing his arm. He jolted away from me.
I narrowed my eyes. “Dude, don’t.” He pulled out of my grasp. I groaned. “Don’t make this hard.”
I pulled him up. He towered over me, and it took all my strength to not fangirl out. But this wasn’t Tom Hiddleston, this was Loki, who was pretty damn evil right now.
I dragged him towards the group, and shoved him harshly to Tony. “How did yo-”
“Ah, ah, ah! Don’t question my abilities.” I smirked.
Tony frowned.
Pretty soon we were back on the Quinjet and headed right to the Helicarrier.
“So, how exactly did you know all of this was going to happen?” Steve asked. I smiled. “I guess you’ll just have to find out when we get to the Helicarrier. I can’t tell you unless all of us are there.”
“All of us?”
I shrugged. “Tony Stark, otherwise known as Iron Man. Check, we have him. Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, you’re right there. Natasha Romanoff, or Black Widow. She’s right there. Thor Odinson, the God of Thunder, yep, he’s there,” I pointed to Thor. “All we need is Clint Barton or Hawkeye, and Dr.Bruce Banner, alias, the Hulk.”
Everyone looked at me shocked. Maybe I shouldn’t have spilt all that information. “How do you know us all?” Tony asked.
“Again, I’ll explain it after we get everyone back. Well, not Clint, cause he’s brainwashed but...” I whispered the last part, whilst glaring at Loki. He obviously heard me, because he smirked. It honestly freaked me out so freaking much.
I looked back out the window, ignoring the creeped-out glances I received from almost everyone onboard.
Soon enough, we had landed on the Helicarrier and I was walking into the large room with all the computers and shit. I looked around awkwardly, as Loki’s voice boomed through the speakers before turning around. I looked at the people working the computers as Loki’s voice stops. I hopped in a chair and looked around.
“He really grows on you doesn’t he?” Bruce asks. I winced.
“Loki’s gonna drag this out.” Steve paused, and looked to Thor. “Thor. What’s his play?” I stopped paying attention and ended up yawning by the time Bruce started talking.
I looked over my shoulder, waiting for Tony to come through the door. I grumbled, leaning back in the chair.
I tuned out, and stood up, wandering aimlessly around the room and disturbing the workers. I leaned over a few shoulders, and then skipped around the room.
When I came back, the Avengers were still preoccupied. I leaned against the wall again. Then, Nick Fury walked in and I stiffened. Ever since Captain Marvel, I couldn’t get over his eyepatch. I looked away as he glanced to me.
“Why’s there a kid in here?” He asked.
“She’s a friend.”
Fury glared at Tony. “She’s a teenager.”
Tony shrugged. “So?”
Nick quickly dismissed it, and I followed Bruce and Tony to “help”.
On the way there, I squeezed between them. “Isn’t this fun?” I asked. Tony shook his head.
“The earth is in danger. So, no.”
I frowned. “You’re no fun.” I looked up to Bruce. “Hi! I’m [Y/n].”
Bruce tensed. “Uh, hi.” He looked away. “Why are you here again?”
I looked towards Stark. “Tony’s my supervisor.” I smirked.
“No, I’m not.”
I shrugged. “Pepper found me, but she’s not here, so it’s you!”
Tony sighed in annoyance. “Ugh, you have no limits.”
“Nope!”
I laughed as we entered the lab-like room that the blueberry scene took place. I stood around for a while, until my favorite scene came.
“Blueberry?” I raced over plucking one from the bag and stuffing it in my mouth. I hadn't eaten at all in the past day...
I ignored the rest, even the fight. It was almost like they didn’t care I was standing there. I was completely okay with everything, up until my sudden impulse interrupted Tony and Bruce.
“Do you guys know anything about inter-dimensional travel?” I blurted out.
The pair eyed each other, before looking back at me. “Well...I guess I’m telling you now...dammit!”
I growled to myself.
“I’ll tell the others later...it just would have been better to tell everyone at once...I’ll make sure to.”
Tony looked at me, confused.
“Do you wanna know how I know all about you guys?” I asked. I took a deep breath. “Well...I think I travelled dimensions.”
Bruce stared at me wide eyed. “What do you mean?”
“The me from this dimension lured me onto a roof, and I thought she was trying to kill me, because she pushed me off...I should have died. But, instead, I woke up on the side of the street in front of Stark Tower, a fictional building.” I looked down.
Bruce looked to Tony, worried. “Where I come from, the Avengers were created by an awesome dude named Stan Lee. He created comics...and they turned into movies. And everything that has happened so far, aside from me, has happened in the first Avengers movie. I know everything there is to know about the Avengers. In my world, you aren’t real, and the year is 2019...4 Avengers movies came out. Aside from the individual movies for the superheroes.”
Both scientists were staring, wide eyed. I gasped. “Oh no, did I break you?!” I asked.
“You can’t seriously expect us to-”
I frowned. I pulled out my phone from my back pocket. “This is an iPhone XR. It came out in 2019.” I opened the phone and searched Marvel. I showed everything that came up, including the movies. The pair looked completely astonished.
“But-how?” Bruce asked. I sighed.
“I was hoping you guys could help. That’s why I came...plus, I figured I could help you.” I shrugged.
Tony looked to Bruce, then back at me. “We’ll help you.”

Just ask, and I’ll tag you in the next update! :D
Sorry if this update was a bit rushed. I was irking on low battery and under a time-limit. The next one will be more detailed!

Re-Ranking Tangled the Series Season 1 Episodes
After re-watching all the episodes this week...I decided to re-rank the episodes because I feel like I wasn’t sure about the first time I ranked them. So, this is IT. I’m not changing it!
Link to first ranking here: x
1. Queen For A Day: Episode 17
Best. Episode. Ever. I felt like this episode needed to be two hours because it was sooooo intense. Obviously loved the moment when Eugene and Rapunzel hugged each other, I was fangirling so hard. What I will never forget about this episode is the fact that Eugene sacrificed himself to save Rapunzel’s parents.
2. Tangled Before Ever After: Episode 1
I remember when all Tangled Tumblr accounts freaked out on that day in March, I was freaking out too. It was soooo amazing. The proposal was great (even though she said no, it was still great), seeing her room for the first time I was like ahhhh. Eugene was so caring and loving for Rapunzel in this episode. It was adorable how sorry he felt to propose. Shout out to whoever did the clothing designs for that episode, especially Eugene, he was rocking that jacket and hat.I did not rank this number 1 because it was not intense like Queen for a Day was. Overall, I really liked seeing Rapunzel’s relationships with everyone in this episode. It was a start of seeing how Rapunzel really is to others and how others feel about her.
3. Secret of the Sundrop: Episode 22
I know this episode was intense, but not like Queen for a Day. I feel like Queen for a Day had you more on the edge of your seat unlike Sundrop. Of course, the music was great, not going to lie, best music in this episode. I wish they would’ve shown more of her birthday moments because I felt like there wasn’t enough. Also, I was REALLY mad at Varian in this episode….REALLY MAD. Varian needed to CHILL.
4. The Return of Strongbow: Episode 7
OF COURSE I PUT THIS ONE IN MY TOP 5!!!!! Eugene bought a ring for her, Eugene wanted to tell the truth instead of lying to her parents, and how protected her at the beginning of the episode. Every moment of this episode was AMAZING!
5. Pascal’s Story: Episode 12
So many people were interested at Pascal’s background story that it reached millions of views on Facebook. Not only was I interested in his story but it was so adorable to know how Rapunzel and Pascal grew up together and because of that we know how close they really are.
6. Not in the Mood: Episode 19
I REALLY want more episodes like this. Everyone was so funny, especially Eugene. I have watched this episode over and over again because it’s interesting to see the opposites of everyone. I feel like there are much more funnier being the opposites of themselves. 7. The Quest For Varian: Episode 20
Eugene protecting Rapunzel, Eugene talking about what happened in the tower to Maximus, and Rapunzel seeing the tower crumble. These three things made me really love this episode.
8. What the Hair? Episode 2
This episode was one of those many moments when I’m like YES EUGENE because he wanted to make sure Rapunzel was okay and wanted her to be protected at all times. Eugene didn’t want Rapunzel to hide any secrets from him and after this episode, it was the beginning of Rapunzel starting to be more open and comfortable with him.
9. Painter’s Block: Episode 18
This episode should have been an hour honestly because Rapunzel went through a lot of stuff. She was “hypnotized” ( I don’t know what to call it lol) and because of that went into an argument with Eugene and it broke my heart. BUT EUGENE KNEW THE WHOLE DAMN TIME RAPUNZEL WASN’T HERSELF. Rapunzel needs to make an award for Eugene that says “Best Boyfriend Ever”. At the end of the episode though, it was so adorable, when Rapunzel made that heart and they hugged and ahhhhhhh.
10. Under Raps: Episode 10
This would probably be in my top 5 if Andrew didn’t turn out to be a jerk and when I saw the trailer for this episode I thought that he and Cassandra were going to be together so I was disappointed to see that they weren’t together in the end. But, I thought Rapunzel’s to-do list was adorable, the single ladies lunch, Eugene’s punching bag, and the storybook scene was all great.
11. Great Expotations: Episode 9
Eugene’s afro, Rapunzel dragging Eugene around, Rapunzel showing Eugene her inventions, Eugene kissing her hand....those were my favorite moments. 12. The Alchemist Returns: Episode 20
This episode was more focused on Varian and Rapunzel...and Varian made Rapunzel really mad and Varian really was not himself and because of that I have it ranked this kinda low. But, there was still Eugene and Rapunzel moments so I was totally not disappointed.
13. Big Brothers of Corona: Episode 13
I feel like there wasn’t much going on this episode, it seems like it was focused on the girls, red and angry. It was adorable when Eugene wanted to turn those kids into good people and in the end he learned something out of it. I feel like this episode is a good life lesson that you can’t change people and people can’t change you.
14. In Like Flynn: Episode 8
“I love Rapunzel, I love Rapunzel, I love Rapunzel.”- Eugene (EXCUSE ME WHILE I GO AND CRY). Also, Eugene is trying his hardest to have his future father in law trust him. The King and Eugene developed such a great relationship in this episode.
15. Fitzherbert P.I. Episode 4
This episode was adorable and funny because of Rapunzel deciding what to do for her portrait and Eugene being a guard. I loved when Eugene told Rapunzel “you went with the simple choice of beautiful”. Eugene showing off his moves, that’s a plus from me!
16. Cassandra v. Eugene: Episode 6 But man, Cassandra and Eugene were so angry at each other it got a little annoying but not too annoying. It’s hilarious! I feel like this episode was a little bit of a realization for Eugene of how self-centered he is. I really liked the little moment Rapunzel and Eugene had at the end. I ranked this episode so low because I somehow forget that the Stabbington brothers were in this episode. It’s interesting, the episode before this one really focused on Rapunzel’s and Cassandra’s relationship and this episode focused on Eugene’s and Cassandra’s relationship.
17. Rapunzel’s Enemy: Episode 3
But I thought everyone liked Rapunzel....? Haha, I’m still not clear on why he hates her. I love the design on the Sweet Shop though.
18. One Angry Princess: Episode 11 Rapunzel should be a detective lol. (Also, when Rapunzel tucks Eugene in, awwwwww) 19. Challenge of the Brave: Episode 5
I know so many people like this because we get to see Cassandra’s strength. (So, please don’t hate me sorry.) But, I’m not that interested in this episode. I’m kind of surprised honestly that we didn’t see Eugene enter the competition and Rapunzel did because I thought he shows himself off. This was a great start of seeing Cassandra and Rapunzel’s relationship. Also, Eugene had a Rapunzel sign and was selling wigs that looked like her hair.
20. The Way of Willow: Episode 16
I felt like it was odd that Eugene and the King were camping together while Rapunzel, Arianna, and Willow were also camping together. Why couldn’t they all camp together? Or why did Eugene and the king camp too? I feel like they could’ve done something else. Also, not much Rapunzel and Eugene moments. BUT, it was awesome to see more of Arianna’s and Frederic’s relationship. I would like to see more of how much they really do care and love for each other. 21. Max’s Enemy: Episode 15
Rapunzel being a jerk for not listening to Max when he was first angry about his enemy. And that weirddddd horse wedding dream. I was angry most of this episode because I didn’t like how everyone loved Axel right away never thinking anything is suspicious about him.
22. The Wrath of The Ruthless Ruth: Episode 14
I AM NOT SAYING THIS EPISODE WAS BAD. But, the reason why I ranked it last was because one Eugene was not in it and two it felt like it wasn’t in order of the storyline, it seemed like it didn’t belong in that story at all. To me, it felt like a fun Halloween episode to make. I think this is the only episode out of the entire season where we really get to see the Snuggly duckling.

Notice Me!~Kim Junmyeon/Suho x Black! R&B Star! Fem! Reader {2}
Previous Parts: 1 2 3
Pairing: Suho x reader
Summary: With your support sent out to EXO as a fan and a potential collaborator, you awaken to a massive wave of support from your fans, along with fellow EXOls. However, a vocal majority of them aren’t too keen about you working with their bias band. All of this anxiety comes to a head as your supports push you towards the idea of a collaboration, including Suho himself.
Warnings: Toxic fans, racist comments and negative thoughts.
Writer’s Note: Here’s chapter 2, I hope you guys enjoy and let me know if you want any more EXO fics/series, requests are open! I also want to add that this is purely fictional, I don’t know Halsey (Ashley) personally, so if she acts a little odd I’m sorry. And another thing about this fic and others I write, the Kpop idols speak English, since I don’t want to butcher any translations or Korean words, since I do not speak the language. Maybe in the future, but not now! Thanks!
Word Count: 1, 583
I could hardly sleep at the sound of my phone buzzing like a madman. Of course the sun peaking through my blinds didn’t help, along with Ashley’s bed hogging ass. Next time I’m taking the couch instead of sharing my bed, jeez.
I shift over on my back to reach for my phone, it comes to life at my slight touch and overwhelms me with so many notifications I almost tumble from the bed.
“Mmh,” Ashley groans, “quit moving.”
She kicks my foot softly, but I don’t react at all, most of my attention is on my phone.
My Twitter bell icon stays red with a swarm of notifications, messages, likes and retweets. I’m trending, right underneath with EXO and of course BTS.
“Uh, Ash, look! Look!”
I nudge her a few times before she rolls over with hair stuck to her cheek and a scowl.
“Y/N, I-I need at least one more hou—”
“Look!” I scold.
We both stay captivated by the tiny screen as Ashley’s finger scrolls down some of the comments.
They read:
Um, SM we need a Empress Dee Dee/ EXO collab, stat!
Aw, Junmyeon was soo cute, I lowkey ship it!
Finally a Kpop band reaching out for a black artist, I wish someone would follow through too *cough, cough BTS
“Holy shit,” Ashley says, “they really love this idea, did your publicist call you about it yet? Y/N?”
Her voice is drowned out as more of the comments turn sour.
A lot of them read:
Western Artist X Kpop Artist= trash
Black people should stay with their own music, it wouldn’t mix with EXO’s sound
Gross, please don’t tell me Junmyeon has a thing for that black girl, why not a Korean woman?
They continue to flood my feed, most of them turning more daunting than the rest.
“Ok, enough Twitter for one morning,” Ashley says as she takes the phone.
“You’re right,” I say, “I need some more sleep.”
Ashley frowns as I lay back against my pillow and yank the covers up and over my face.
“Y/N, come on,” Ashley groans, “you seriously gonna let these assholes get under your skin?”
I nod against the sheets.
“Half of them are right Ash,” I say, “why would any of EXO collab with me? There are many other Kpop artists who are better anyway.”
“Um, but none of them are Empress Dee Dee, are they?” Ashley asks.
I shrug.
“They aren’t black though, Ash,” I note.
Ashley gives me an incredulous look.
“That’s got nothing to do with it,” Ashley growls.
Her words strike an unexpected nerve within me as I push the covers away and sit back up.
“Nothing?! “ I snap, “Ash, it’s everything to do with it! Racism still exists, even more prevalent now, especially with colorism still at an all time high!”
Ashley frowns.
“But I-”
I put a hand on Ashley’s own, the stark contrast of my brown skin and her pale one.
“I know, I know who are Ashley, but it’s different for women like me, and darker skinned black women,” I say, “I just need you to understand that, please.”
Ashley nods.
“I do,” she says, “but I need you to understand that it shouldn’t stop you! Don’t listen to what those assholes are saying!”
“Ash—”
“You love music, don’t you?” she asks.
Her question throws me off, yet I nod anyway.
“Of course I do,” I say.
“Then focus on making music, talk to your publicist and agent about that EXO collab!” she declares.
I watch Ashley in half awe, half amusement as she tosses the sheets onto the floor like the drama queen she’s being. Maybe she should shoot for the Academy Awards rather than Grammys next year.
“You know you gotta pick that up right,” I deadpan while gesturing to the splayed mess of covers below us on the floor.
Ashley turns her nose up, but softens as she comes around to my side of the bed, sitting next to me and taking my hand.
“Don’t worry about the fucking bed spread and listen to me,” she says.
I stare at her eyes, there’s this hint of desperation in them, as if I was the one who insulted her. Maybe I was a bit too much in my feelings. She cares about my wellbeing so much that I forget this affects her as well.
“Promise me that you’ll stay all right through all of this,” she says, gripping my hand skin tight.
I think of another comeback but save it for later.
“I promise Ash,” I vow, “now can you pick up the damn covers?”
Ashley frowns but rises to gather up the covers anyway.
“There. I’m doing it, now could you please call your publicist?”
A heavy sigh escapes my lips as I reach for my phone on the nightstand. More notifications flood, a few missed calls from Daphne, my publicist and Todd, my agent. Great, now I have to deal with them.
“I’m calling them back now, Ash,” I announce.
“Awesome,” she calls from the bathroom.
I decide to go with Todd first, since he left the most missed calls. My heart beats heart against the insistent ring of the phone, it drawing out a bit longer than it usually should.
“Hello, Y/N!” Todd calls.
I gulp before speaking.
“Hi Todd, look I-I know I should have contacted Daph first about posting that tweet.”
Todd chuckles through the phone.
“Y/N, that was a genius move! It seemed really genuine!” he exclaims.
I frown.
“Uh, I was completely genuine Todd, my heart was one hundred percent into it,” I say.
“Oh, well that makes it even better, because I’ve already got in contact with the producers on the Ellen Show, and since EXO will be there promoting Obsession, we can finally have you both in talks for a collaboration!”
My stomach nearly drops. It’s exciting news, right? Getting to meet my bias band in front of me instead of a tiny computer screen, yet the circumstances got me worried. In front of all those people. Some of them could be any of those people spouting out hateful comments.
“Er, Y/N,” Todd says, “you heard me, right?”
“I-I u-uh yeah!” I say, “j-just uh, fan girl nerves is all.”
Todd chuckles, but gets back to business as usual.
“No need to worry, it’s all scripted and Ellen has a way of making people calm, especially new guests,” he explains, “but this will really put you on the map! Considering you haven’t made a public appearance since your grammy snub and you’re gonna do it with one of the biggest kpop groups, ever! Don’t let those fangirl nerves get to you too much!”
I manage to cough up a tiny giggle.
“Of course Todd, thank you.”
“Already have a flight set up for you in the morning, I told you that you’d skyrocket soon, didn’t I?” he asks.
I roll my eyes but agree anyway.
“I know Todd, bye.”
“Get plenty of sleep, call me when you get there!” he urges before hanging up.
WIth him off the phone I can finally freak out in peace. Well until Ashley returns with her toothbrush a nosy look on her face.
“Shit, by that face I’m assuming it didn’t go well, did it?” she asks.
I shake my head and collapse backwards against the sheets.
“I-It went unexpectedly well,” I admit, “EXO’s gonna be on Ellen for the first time, and I got a spot on there with them.”
Ashley nearly jumps into the ceiling.
“Are you fucking serious?!” she exclaims, “it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet!”
I nod against my pillow.
“Right! God, I-I’m not ready for this,” I groan.
Ashley shifts closer to wrap an arm around my shoulder.
“You got this sweetie,” she whispers, “I’m gonna take the shower first, that cool with you?”
I nod as she rises.
“Oh and stay off Twitter,” she says as she goes back to the bathroom.
Of course I don’t listen as I unlock my phone yet again. My eyes scan through all of the comments: good, bad, ugly and downright unnecessary. My finger stops at a previous V Live EXO recently did, or a clip at least.
The caption of the video read:
Ya’ll Junmyeon is really out here caring about DeeDee, like a lot! When he gonna pull up 😂😂
I click it and there’s Suho, Baekhyun and Chen with soft looks, unlike the way they looked during their X-EXO concept stage. Beakhyun leans closer to the camera, scanning the comments I assume as Suho frowns.
“Of course not!” Suho growls, “why would anyone say that?”
“What is it hyung?” Chen asks.
Suho points at the screen.
“Someone said that we thought DeeDee was ugly, why would you insult a beautiful woman like that?” he asks in disgust.
My breath gets hitched in my throat at his words.
Baekhyun frowns this time.
“Aw, why are people making fun of DeeDee?” he groans, “don’t listen to them DeeDee! Stay strong! Keep smiling!!”
Chen nods sharply as Baekhyun continues to yell it obnoxiously.
Suho pushes him until he ceases and looks into the camera intensely.
“The people who are saying this aren’t our fans, DeeDee,” he explains, “you’re amazing, stay all right, ok? Ok!”
Suho grins as he puts up his finger hearts as his smile widens.
The video ends, yet it doesn’t within my head. EXO actually stood up for me. This has got to be a dream.

I find reading headcanons fun and a lot of people interested in Lea and Isa who want to stay canon compatible go with the idea of "they were technically apprentices, but they were still used as test subjects." It just goes to show how important those implications were to their story, anyone invested is looking for a way to retcon them back in.
Yeah, I get why people wanna stick close to canon. I like to stay as close to canon as possible too, unless I feel like canon just absolutely dropped the ball, which is relatively rare. But that’s what I feel KH3 did with Lea and Isa. There were just FAR too many implications that they were test subjects to be hand-waved away so easily. I can totally understand why people are looking for a way to retcon those implications back in. They fit soooo perfectly and they were MUCH juicier than the canon backstory, which is really very boring.
Unbeknownst to me, my six apprentices then began collecting a large number of subjects on which to perform dangerous experiments into the “darkness of the heart.”
I wouldn’t even know HOW to write Axel as a former apprentice, without being a former test subject, too. Because it just doesn’t fit him. You have to ignore everything interesting about him and change his whole character. When I first played KH2, I was always interested in the experiments on the darkness of the heart and especially what the organization members were like as humans. We only got to know a little about that. We learned that members I-VI were apprentices of Ansem the Wise, which I thought was very intriguing. I started to speculate about what the other members’ backstories might be.
Are they the people who lost their hearts, or incarnations of darkness? Or something entirely beyond my imagination? All my knowledge has provided no answer. One thing I am sure of is that they are entirely devoid of emotion. Perhaps further study will unlock the mysteries of the heart. Fortunately, there is no shortage of test samples. They are multiplying underground even as I write this report. They still need a name. Those who lack hearts… I will call them the Heartless.
I am not even exaggerating, after reading the KH2 Ansem Reports, my first thought was that Axel was most likely a former test subject, due to the way he slaughtered Zexion and Vexen so mercilessly. He had a side to him that was rather…twisted. And I thought that was so fascinating. No way in hell do I believe he acted like that because he was trying to find some girl. No. He had a HUGE grudge against the organization which was very personal.
The only other organization member I thought might have been a former test subject was Saïx. Number VII. The first one to join after the apprentices.
And the reasons for that were obvious. He was freakish, like a science experiment. He was a werewolf/vampire type character with a large scar on his face. I have talked with people online about Axel’s apprentice backstory who said that they “saw it coming”. It was foreshadowed in advance. And I’m like, “Did we play the same games?” If anyone says that they thought Axel and Saïx made more sense as apprentices than test subjects, I simply do not believe them. I think they are either lying or they are such a fanboy/fangirl that they cannot bring themselves to question canon.
THIS is what always stood out to me about Axel in Days. He said very little about himself. It seems like most of the fandom latched onto Axel as this happy-go-lucky big brother figure who “adopts” Roxas and Xion and that was the extent of his character. Personally, I was always far more interested in Axel’s past. That’s what really made him an interesting character. Without that, he’s a bit flat, honestly.
When I played Days, it seemed to confirm my suspicions that Axel had a dark past.
The way the camera zoomed in on him when he mentioned his past said SO much. It was so subtle, but so dramatic. They obviously were hinting at something.
And it even involved Saïx, too. They really were BOTH test subjects. How fascinating, I thought.
Then I played BBS, and it showed them sneaking into the freaking castle! I was so excited! OBVIOUSLY these kids were experimented on. They were in the right place at the right time. It explains why they became organization members. It explains why Saïx is so…freakish even though when he was a kid he was so cute and normal. I mean, come on!!!! How could anyone not see what they were hinting at here? I was SO SO excited for TEN years to see their backstory.
When I played KH3, I was dumbfounded. Absolutely dumbfounded. Turns out Lea and Isa were connected to the experiments on the darkness of the heart (duh). But they weren’t the test subjects. It was Skuld. Ya know, that random NPC from KHUX? That’s right. Skuld.
…
…
Skuld!? Are you freaking kidding me!? All the spotlight is gonna be on her as the lab rat!? After all the subtle hints that Lea and Isa were experimented on? I felt like I had been led on and betrayed by the series. I was so sad and angry. KH has a lot of, well, bullshit in it. Like Ansem the Wise turning Kingdom Hearts into data and releasing everyone’s hearts. And it has a lot of retcons. It’s a series where “willing suspension of disbelief” is important. But what they did to Lea and Isa’s past? That crossed the line for me. That was unacceptable. And my willing suspension of disbelief was shattered. I simply cannot retroactively view Lea and Isa as apprentices. It just doesn’t fit with what we saw of them. It’s the worst, most ill-fitting backstory I have ever seen.
Lea’s whole character revolved around his mysterious past. And in the end, his whole past was summarized in a two minute cutscene where we were TOLD (not even shown) it. And his past isn’t even about him or his relationship with Isa or their shared pain. It’s all about setting up a plot for a character who, IMO, is supposed to be dead.
Yes, that’s right. Dead. IMO, Skuld and Ephemer and everybody else from the age of fairytales were supposed to be dead. The final world is like limbo where people with lingering regrets cannot move on to the afterlife. Sora wound up there, probably because the spirits drew him there. But he wasn’t dead. He could come back with the power of waking because his body was still alive. Demon Tide doesn’t kill your body.
But yeah, as far as I’m concerned, everyone else from the age of fairy tales is DEAD. KHUX wasn’t supposed to monopolize KH3′s plot the way it did. It wasn’t supposed to be that important. IMO, The main role of KHUX was to provide history to the Keyblade War and MX’s Keyblade. You would have the scene where the Keyblades come to life and take out the Demon Tide. It’s a nice little cameo to people who played KHUX, but nothing essential. Then, the hearts of the dead are finally at peace and they can pass on. The end. Their role is done. They weren’t supposed to come back! It’s stupid! Leave characters like a Ephemer and Skuld in the past where they belong!
Xaldin: It’s an order. Why do you hesitate? You, who has been ruthless towards those who’ve turned their backs on the Organization?
If you take away Axel’s past a former test subject and give it to Skuld, you change the very nature of his character. Look how KH3 downplayed Axel’s dark and ruthless side by making it seem like Saïx was the only one willing to get his hands dirty. Axel was apparently some perfect angel who was just innocently trying to find info on Subject X the whole time. Not, ya know, ruthlessly executing people. No! No, no no!
Don’t pretend like Axel was not a fucked up killer. He was almost as twisted as Saïx was. Not quite. But almost. Of course, I guess I understand why they downplayed this side of him. It really doesn’t make much sense for Axel to spend a decade ruthlessly killing people just to find a complete stranger who may or may not even be alive, does it? It would make a lot more sense if he was doing it because he was experimented on and his best friend was being held hostage by the organization.
But Axel being a fucked up killer was the very foundation of his excellent character arc. Why did he change and join the good side? It wasn’t because he became friends with Roxas or Xion. It’s because he became disgusted with himself. He was disgusted with himself after he killed Vexen and Sora was horrified at how much pleasure he got from it.
He was disgusted with himself when he saw Xion’s face for the first time and saw that she looked just like Namine. He was willing to slaughter Namine without a second thought in Castle Oblivion. But here was a girl who looked just like her, innocently asking to be his friend.
“You didn’t have to use force…”
Axel sighed theatrically and circled his shoulders. “Didn’t I?”
Still gripping Axel’s collar, Roxas shook his head with the emphatic refusal of a little kid. “No, you didn’t…” But he sounded uncertain as he said it, and his voice shrank even more. “We’re supposed to be best friends.”
Axel brushed Roxas’s hands from his collar. “This isn’t about friendship.”
Roxas raised his head. The glare in his blue eyes was sharp as a knife.
Axel had never seen that from him before. His chest twinged, just a bit. He let out another sigh. “Listen, if that’s all, I gotta go.”
Roxas wilted again, and something in his expression weakened Axel’s resolve slightly.
I just did what I thought was the best thing at the time. For Roxas, for Xion, for the Organization—and for Isa. But most of all for me.
He turned away from Roxas and made himself walk away.
He was disgusted with himself when he attacked Xion and brought her back to be destroyed. Why was Axel so upset with Saïx at the end of Days? Because he threw his morality away for him! Axel was willing to do anything for him. He was willing to kill innocent kids like Namine and Xion all for his sake. And at the end of the story Axel realized that Saïx didn’t even really love him anymore. Axel was more than happy to kill anyone if he thought Isa still loved him and appreciated the sacrifices he made for him.
He had been using the Organization for his own ends from the start. The only thing that had changed in the meantime was who it was all for. Maybe Saïx would call that a betrayal. But his world had changed.
But Axel realized that Saïx just used him as a murder tool to take out anyone who got in his way. He wasn’t even worried about him when he was at Castle Oblivion nor did he thank him when he returned. He took advantage of Axel’s devotion to him. That’s why Axel changed. It wasn’t like a My Little Pony episode where the power of Roxas and Xion’s magical friendship changed Axel. It was Axel’s own conscience. And yet, Axel still couldn’t bring himself to leave with Roxas at the end of Days. Even after Roxas left him the “Winner” stick. Because he was still attached to Saïx.
Axel: Look at what it’s come to. I’ve been given these icky orders to destroy you—if you refuse to come back with me.
Roxas: We’re…best friends, right?
Axel: Sure…but I’m not getting turned into a Dusk for…Wait a sec! You remember now!?
Roxas: Y…eah.
And Axel being a human test subject also seemed like the most reasonable backstory for him due to the way he seemed so…maladjusted. I was only 16 when I first played KH2. I was the same age as Roxas. And even then, the way Axel related to Roxas made me think that he had a really fucked up childhood. At first, Axel was willing to destroy Roxas, too. His “best friend”. In the original KH2, he seemed like he was just following orders because he was afraid of being turned into a Dusk. Which is still pretty screwed up.
“Say something. Have you even thought that maybe I can’t erase Roxas?” Axel said, in a playful tone, and Saix finally looked up. “It’ll be all right. Cause I’m tough.” Axel puffed out his chest.
“How stupid,” said Saix, and for a moment he smiled. “Let’s hurry up and prepare. Time is limited. The hero will wake up soon, too. I’ll send you in right in front of Roxas.”
“Okay.” Axel stood in front of the sending device. Saix rested his finger on the button. “I’m off the~n!” Waving to Saix, Axel’s figure disappeared.
But in the “Axel 7 Days” novel, you see that IMMEDIATELY before confronting Roxas about destroying him, Axel was looking at the white envelope and then flirted with Saïx. I hate the way the Axel/Roxas relationship was so misunderstood by the fandom. Why did Axel decide not to kill Roxas? IMO, it wasn’t because they were “best friends”.
It was because, once again, Axel was like “WTF am I doing? I’m trying to kill this innocent kid all so I can salvage my relationship with Saïx. I am a selfish piece of shit.” Why did Axel say that Roxas would have a next life, but not him? Because Axel knew what he was capable of and was prepared to do to him. Roxas was innocent. Axel was not. He had a lot of blood on his hands. He was not like Roxas. Roxas’s innocence is why Axel was so attached to him in the first place. But it was exactly why Roxas could never truly understand him. There will always be a part of Axel that he keeps hidden from Roxas.
On the sofa opposite him, Naminé spoke up instead. “Sora and Riku are best friends.”
Axel’s eyes crinkled as he remembered his own best friend—the only friend he’d ever had, in fact.
“If your best friend goes away, you’re sad, and if you get to be with them, you’re happy,” Naminé added. “Isn’t that how it is, Axel?”
“…That’s about the size of it.” Axel nodded and sat down on the remaining empty sofa, staring at the sea-salt ice cream he held.
“So you are capable of sincerity,” said Riku.
Axel only shrugged at the jab and finished his ice cream pop.
Even after he left the organization, Axel was still twisted. He was going to kill Kairi. And notice how it zoomed in on his tear mark. A bit of a hint about the true meaning of the upside down tears. IMO, the tears meant that Axel was willing to do absolutely anything to make his wish come true. And that was to be with his best friend forever. Saïx betrayed him and broke his heart. Axel decided to channel all of that grief and despair into his relationship with Roxas. He was now willing to kill innocent kids for his new best friend in order to forget about the old one. He was still selfish.
He only started to doubt himself when Kairi empathized with him.
And then he felt like shit and was disgusted with himself again. That was the last straw. Axel really doesn’t work as a character without a horrific backstory or being a killer. He just doesn’t. Being a twisted killer was fundamental to his story. And being a test subject was really the only things that could have made Saïx more sympathetic and redeemable.

Namjoon x Reader First POV
Genre: Soft/Fluff/Romance Word Count: 1989
Playlist: “Brown Eyed Blues” by Adrian Hood
On a tiresome evening and day 1000000 of missing Joon, you receive an unexpected letter...
[P.S. This is the first fic in a series I’m working on called “Bangtan Love Letters.” Hope you like it!]
6:05 PM.
He hasn't called me or texted me. He usually calls during my lunch break because he knows how much I miss him and that his soothing voice is the only thing that gets me through my hectic work day. The fact that I haven’t heard from him all day is worrisome. I know he was still in NY today since they just finished their US leg of the tour so why the fuck hasn’t he called me?
I’m in the backseat of my Uber, stuck in traffic, contemplating whether or not to call him even though I know it’s highly unlikely he’ll answer due to their hectic schedule. I even contemplate texting Seokjin but he’ll probably just bring up the fact that I owe him homemade cookies since I lost our bet about whether Jungkook would cry at the last US show or not and I’m really not up for his mocking tone right now.
“Ma’am, we’re at your destination.” I hear my Uber driver say, bringing me out of my muddled thoughts. I quickly exit the car and walk up the steps to my apartment building, stopping at my mailbox to grab my mail and packages. That lavender oil and chamomile lotion I ordered for Joon the other day should’ve arrived. I take the elevator to the eighth floor, checking my phone every five seconds in case I missed a call or text. Nothing.
I enter my apartment and immediately charge my phone. My stress is at an all time high. I swear I’m going to kick his ass when I hear from him. I can’t live like this!
I take off my shoes, walk over to my floor to ceiling windows and open the blinds. I need some sunshine in my life at the moment. I grab my mail and packages and sit on my loveseat.
“Alexa play ‘Brown Eyed Blues’ by Adrian Hood.” I’m in the mood to feel even sadder I guess.
I decide to open my mail first and open up a few bills, ads, but then I come across a simple white letter envelope with no return address. My name and address are written in small dainty script. With a curious mind I open it carefully.
In it, is a handwritten letter. I bring it closer to me and I instantly get a whiff of his scent. My eyes get teary as I begin to read…
“My most precious sweets,
By now you’re probably wondering why I haven’t called or texted you. You’re probably sitting on your couch listening to ‘Brown Eyed Blues’ with your windows open. I wrote this letter 3 days ago knowing it would arrive today and that you’d be opening it around 6:45pm.” He knows me so well. My tears have begun to fall down my face.
“I wrote this letter as soon as we got off the phone because I instantly missed you. I’ve been gone for 3 months and it never gets easier being away from you. I was thinking back to the day we first met. It was back in 2017 right before the AMAs here in the states. You were prancing around Han River, drunk I might add, at 3 o’clock IN THE MORNING. Who in their right mind is out in Seoul at that time? Especially someone who was just visiting for a week? Now that I think about it, do you know how dangerous that is? Please don’t ever do that again baby. I’m so glad I’m the one that found you and not some creep.” I quietly laugh because at the time I did think he was a creep.
“But you looked so carefree and happy and so fucking beautiful. The moon was shining brightly on you and I could see the softness of your hair flowing in the wind as you twirled around and sang ‘Brown Eyed Blues.’ I know you don’t believe me when I tell you how beautiful your voice is but baby, that day I thought you were an angel that had come down from the heavens to explore this world. And then you messed up the lyrics, giggled loudly and almost tripped on the branches laying around and that was my chance to get close to you and be your knight in shining armor…until I also tripped and we came tumbling down on the ground. You laughed even louder thus making me laugh. But I knew, at 3:17 AM, when your face got close to mine, felt your soft breath on my neck and felt my heartstrings being pulled, I knew you were meant to be mine.” I am in full blown tears now, I get up to grab my box of tissues from my bedroom and hurry back to the couch to continue reading his letter.
“I don’t think I’ve ever told you this, but that day, at 3:17 AM, I fell in love with you. When you realized we were both still laying on the ground and that you were still in my arms, you looked up at me with those big brown eyes of yours and the world stopped for a few minutes. You slowly got up and gathered yourself, apologizing to me as if you were a burden bestowed upon me when in fact you were the greatest gift.”
I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths. He has to know that was the moment I fell in love with him too. When I calmed down from my high, and sobered up a bit from all the laughter that day, I looked up at him to find him smiling down at me with that dimple on full display. His hair, although it was mostly hidden by the big hoodie he had on, was that greyish/light brown hair I love so much and the wind was making it fall over his smiling eyes. I could feel his strength as he still held me tight in his arms. I don't know what it was, but I also felt my heartstrings being pulled. As if he was my red thread, the one I’ve been following all my life until it led me to him.
“You stood up and held out your hand to help me up. The moment I touched your skin I felt goose bumps crawl all over me. I held your hand tightly and stood up. You looked so shy, tucking your hair behind your ears and quietly thanked me. I remember stifling my laughter because you still looked so drunk but you were trying hard to sober up, which is why I asked you out for some coffee. I was afraid you’d reject my offer seeing as I was this complete stranger but when I saw your lips form the word yes my heart burst with joy. We walked side by side along Han river until we reached a small empty café that was still open. You ordered your complicated latte but when you said no whip cream I secretly smiled knowing that you’re the type of girl that likes to be extra but yet are still simple when you get to the core. I remember talking for hours and hours until the sun rose and you finally asked for my name. At this point I had already figured out your name but I was waiting to see if you had recognized me or not. When I told you my name, Namjoon, you rested your chin on your hand, squinted your eyes and said, ‘Namjoon? Like Kim Namjoon from BTS?’ I lifted my cup of coffee to my lips, smiled, and winked. From the few hours that we had known each other I learned you weren’t going to freak out like some crazy fangirl, but I also didn't expect your reaction of full on amazement.” I smile, remembering how speechless I was at finding out the guy who saved me from falling on my face was THE Kim Namjoon. I’m so glad I wasn't sober enough to actually freak out like the crazy fangirl I am.
“Your eyes got so big and you just said ‘wow.’ I laughed, thinking you were so adorable. When I asked you for your number, you were hesitant, but babe I’m glad you finally gave in and gave it to me. I can’t imagine what my life would be like if you weren’t in it these past two years. I know we don’t spend enough time together since I have such a hectic schedule but you never once complain about it and instead of being mad you have given me and my brothers so much love and support. I know they love you as much as I do.
You have brought so much love and happiness to my life. You are my muse. Every time I’m in the studio, you are the first thing that pops into my head when I’m writing lyrics. Every thing around me is centered around you and only you. I don’t ever want that to change.
By now, you’re probably sobbing like the big baby you are (even though you like to put up a front and act all tough).” I giggle knowing he’s right.
“I want to end with this; know that wherever I am, I am always thinking of you. I fall asleep with the image of you in my mind and I wake up ecstatic knowing you’re mine. Not a day goes by that I’m not hoping to be next to you, holding you in my arms, and breathing the same air as you. And even if I see you, I miss you. You’ve probably played ‘Brown Eyed Blues’ 15 times…but tell your Alexa to stop, and listen closely.”
Wait what?
I tell Alexa to stop playing music. I tilt my head, wondering if I’m crazy for doing what he asked me to do via a letter. After a few seconds I don't hear anything besides the birds chirping outside my window so I finish reading the letter.
What I find in the last paragraph are the lyrics to “Brown Eyed Blues” and I faintly hear the beat of the song outside my door but I pay it no mind thinking it’s Alexa still softly playing the song.
“She’s got those eyes, those eyes,
That’ll see right through you
When she leaves,
I wanna leave with her too
And she’s on, my mind
Like all, all the time
When we touch I go weak
And I can hardly speak
And I hope she thinks about me
Cause I’m always thinking of her”
I hear someone softly singing outside my door. My heart starts to beat rapidly. I walk slowly towards it, not ready to see who's on the other side. I hold the letter close to my heart as I reach the door knob.
I slowly open the door and find him standing there with his hands inside his pants pockets. His silver hair is styled neatly. He’s wearing his Katazurizome Yukata jacket that I love so much even though I give him shit all the time about how expensive it is.
My tears don't stop falling down my face. He takes a step closer, then another one, until he’s right in front of me softly wiping my tears away. His soothing voice is still singing our song…
“I just wanna hold her hand, be her man…” He grabs my free hand with his left and brings it to his chest, pulling me even closer to him. I let out a sob.
“I wanna know if she’d take a chance, Cause I’m still not revealing, Cause I still get the feeling, That loving her is a game I’ll always lose, I got the brown eyed blues”
He hugs me tight, I rest my head on his shoulder freely crying like a big baby.
“I missed you. And even when I see you, I still miss you” He softly whispers in my ear.

Video Games Pt3: Video Game Challenge
I saw this list on Pinterest out of nowhere, and what better way to ring in the new year than with another questionnaire, about my favorite pastime! This is the spiritual successor to Part 1 and Part 2.
Day 1 - Very first video game: Pacman and/or Mortal Kombat and/or Samurai Shodown on arcade machines (way back in the day when laundromats had arcade machines and gumball machines and such in them--good times, good times U_U); Tetris on computers; and a buttload of PS1 titles (again: back in the good ole days when consoles came with promo demo discs--I had Frogger, Need for Speed, Medieval, and a bunch of others).
Day 2 - Your favorite character: Here’s my Top 10 Males post and Top 10 Females post.
Day 3 - A game that is underrated: I will preach the greatness of PS1′s Legend of Dragoon till my dying day. It was doomed to dwell in Final Fantasy 7′s shadow, which came out earlier that same year, and it’s a real shame, cuz LoD was E V E R Y T H I N G.
youtube
My favorite aspects of the game are:
Its lore and worldbuilding. On top of the fact that the premise of the game is could be an anime series in its own right, you just get SO EXCITED to visit each new location, and uncover more about the world’s history, and see the different architecture, technologies, cultures and different races (I LOVE the Winglies, of course). It’s actually a gorgeous game for its time.
The combat -- I STILL have some of the Addition patterns memorized to this very day! They get progressively harder as you level up, but once you get used to the timing you feel so dang good. Die, More and More!
The soundtrack and cutscenes. The NOSTALGIA? O_O Bruh. The story is just really good, and was the very first video game to make me cry when certain...events...happened. Play the game and find out for yourself!
Day 4 - Your guilty pleasure game: The Sims, Dragon Age...any and all EA games. Effing ashamed of myself every time I give that nest of corporate demons at Electronic Farts money. “Surprise mechanics” my arse.
Day 5 - Game character you feel you are most like (or wish you were): Has Jar Jar Binks been in a video game yet? Then that’s me. XD But I wish I was most like Lara Croft, as explained in my Top 10 Females post.
Day 6 - Most annoying character: For females it’s Lightning from Final Fantasy 13, and for males it’s Vaan, from Final Fantasy 12. I don’t mind as much when supporting characters are effing annoying (Vanille, Hope, etc), but when it’s the MAIN protagonist?! WHY, Square Enix? WHY.
Lightning was just a negative nancy debbie downer. I wish they had swapped Serah and Lightning, I seriously do. I just couldn’t stand her dry and soulless personality. She wasn’t being edgy or bada** or cool or sexy or FANG or anything; she was just a bitter jaded unhappy wench.
And with Vaan I just effing hate that dude. Why was he even there? They tried so hard to make this pushy entitled kid relevant, but I was like no, the story could’ve easily been told without him, and I wish it had been; he’s a effing idiot.
Day 7 - Favorite game couple: Yuna and Tidus from FFX (hardest I ever cried playing a video game -- THE FEELS I TELL YOU).
Day 8 - Best soundtrack: I used to think it was Skyrim, but nope, it’s Witcher 1, 2 and 3. Just listen to ALL of the songs CDPR ever produced for the entire franchise, including all the unreleased tracks, and enjoy the eargasm.
Day 9 - Saddest game scene: Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice had me legit depressed for a good week. Get your tissues and holy water ready; it’s seriously effed up. The entire game is the saddest I ever played, jfc.
Day 10 - Best gameplay: Witcher 3, duh. Main quests, side quests, combat, dialogue, plot, graphics, worldbuilding, creatures, bosses, soundtrack, characters, Gwent, NEED I GO ON.
Day 11 - Gaming system of choice: Playstation for life. But the Nintendo Switch is effing brilliant, ngl; once they put Skyrim & The Witcher on it I was like SOLD.
Day 12 - A game everyone should play: At least ONE Final Fantasy game. There’s 15+, and Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts. It’s not just a game, it’s an experience.
As much as I rag on FF13 and FF15, they’re still admittedly LEAGUES better than a lot of other crap out there. I just happen to feel that Square Enix is out of its frikkin mind lately, and tbh I’ve been rapidly losing my hype for the FF7 Remake. I was never much of a FF7 fan to begin with, aside from being a rabid Sephiroth fangirl and watching Advent Children a billion times. But Square’s gotta be drunk as a skunk if they think I’m paying all that money for god knows how many of these effing “episodes” they’re gonna piecemeal us to dangit death with. HAYUL no. I’d rather not get too attached.
Day 13 - A game you’ve played more than five times:
Day 14 - Current (or most recent) gaming wallpaper: Huh?
Day 15 - What game are you playing right now: Speak of the devil, I’m replaying God of War for the zillionth time already.
Day 16 - Game with the best cut scenes: In terms of graphics and story impact IMO might be Red Dead Redemption 2. That game was frikkin gorgeous, and the story was SO DANG GOOD. Braithwaite Manor!? O_O
Day 17 - Favorite antagonist: For females it’s either Edea from FF8, or Yunalesca from FFX. For dudes it’s Sephiroth, from FF7. That man needs some serious counseling.
Day 18 - Favorite protagonist: Yuna from FFX for the ladies, and TW3′s Geralt of Rivia for the dudes.
Day 19 - A game world you would like to live in: The more Middle Eastern-inspired scifi/steampunki-medievalesque world of Ivalice from FF12, or the medieval French/Swiss Toussaint from The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine.
youtube
Day 20 - Favorite genre: RPGs and JRPGs, and pretty much action-adventure games with swords and sorcery.
Day 21 - Game with the best story: Red Dead Redemption, which is a good thing and a bad thing. A lot of the time I felt I was watching a movie, rather than playing a game. But it was still an Oscar worthy movie. XD
Day 22 - A game sequel which disappointed you: Technically it hasn’t come out yet, but from what we’ve seen of the Nioh 2 beta release, omfg what’s going on? U_U Now, don’t get me wrong! Nioh 2 looks AMAZING. But....that’s cuz it looks exactly like Nioh 1, just with new yokai gameplay thrown in. o_O Uh...is this a DLC expansion pack or what? Cuz it sure ain't lookin like a full-fledged sequel! :P Dare I call it an asset flip. Come on, don’t do this; do MORE. Unless this is actually an expansion you’ll sell for half the price. ;)
Day 23 - Game you think had the best graphics or art style: For graphics it’s RDR2, but for most unique art style it’s always been Okami for me. <3
youtube
Day 24 - Favorite classic game: Spyro the Dragon. Their reboot for PS4 was AMAZING.
Day 25 - A game you plan on playing: Cyberpunk 2077. I’m so bummed, knowing the game’s been delayed to September 2020 instead of April, but oh well. As long as CDPR gives us that master-class level of Polish we all know and love from The Witcher 3, then take as much time as you need, I guess. At least they’re not like effing EA or Bethesda. XD
Day 26 - Best voice acting: BOY. Freaking iconic, Kratos. :P
Day 27 - Most epic scene ever: Ciri beating the absolute tastebuds outta Caranthir in TW3, not once but twice. Most OP Witcher EVER, girl; WERK.
Day 28 - Favorite game developer: Though I effing hate them, I’m still a Square Enix fangirl at heart. It’s just saddening to see this weird turn they’ve been making recently, with garbage like the Quiet Man, and especially with Final Fantasy, my favorite game series of all time. U_U I’m not looking forward to the FF7 Remake anymore, tbh. I just hope FF16 is more of a return to form.
Day 29 - A game you thought you wouldn't like, but ended up loving: Skyrim. I was never a big fan of Elder Scrolls games, and when Skyrim came out I was very meh at first. But then the mods started coming out for it and I was like wow. O_O
Day 30 - Your Favorite game of all time: Legend of Dragoon on PS1, Final Fantasy X on PS2, Skyrim on PS3/PC, The Witcher 3 on PS4, and The Sims on PC.

Is there anyone you work with that you don't get along with? Why? I'm always civil with everyone, and when I get mad at someone I make sure it’s because they really fucked up on a task, and not just because I don’t like their personality or whatever. I’ve always just felt like butting heads with someone is only going to affect my work, so I try not to clash with people. If I don’t like someone for any reason, I usually just minimize my interactions with them. Have you ever been romantically interested in a coworker? ...Does a classmate count? I started crushing on Gab back in high school lol. Have you ever been romantically involved with a coworker? ^ Same question. Do you have any thoughts on a 14-year age-gap? Not a fan. Age gaps in general scare me away, though I think it’s because I’ve only been with someone of the same age. What is the game you're currently playing most often on your phone? Bitlife. It’s like a simpler Sims.
What is your go-to Starbucks order? MAN OH MAN does this question make me miss coffee shops. I get a grande iced caramel macchiato. I get it as is because having so many customization options just makes me overwhelmed. Do you have any friends that you're drifting apart from? I don’t think so. We all just have to be apart right now but once we can see each other again, I’m 110% sure it’ll only be like we hadn’t seen each other in a day. Are you close to someone who is mentally unwell? I think all my friends aren’t mentally okay to some extent. It’s pretty common in our age group. What phone do you have? iPhone 8. What is the last thing you ordered for delivery? Andrew and I had Chinese food delivered to Skywalk after a particularly brutal verbal beatdown from our thesis adviser who had told us to revise big chunks of our thesis ASAP. I was super stressed so I allowed myself to splurge on the Hong Kong noodles I really liked and I specifically asked for three fucking packets of peanut sauce to drown my noodles in lmao. Do you have an opinion on adopting/purchasing a pet? It’s my preferred way of getting a pet. Adopt and don’t shop, plz. What's your favorite chain restaurant? YABUUUUUUUU. If I reach the point where I only had ₱400 left to my name, I’d still most likely spend it on their katsu. Have you ever dated someone who was of a foreign origin? No...well, Gabie is part Turkish, so kinda? She’s still mostly Filipino though. Have you ever read any of your idol’s books/autobiographies? Out of all the people I fangirl over, only AJ has produced an autobiography and yes, I have her book. Oh I have One Direction’s first book too, but I haven’t been able to buy the next ones that came out. Do you own any succulents? Nope. Can’t take care of plants to save my life. When was the last time you climbed a tree? I’ve never done that, all the trees here have red ants. :/ If you have any pets, how would you describe their personalities? Kimi’s an absolute diva and chooses to follow, listen to, and be sweet with only me. He’ll be super nice when he’s asking for food, but will be quick to stop minding you completely once he’s gotten enough food from you. We give him a pass since he’s a senior dog now, but he’s definitely the snobby type hahaha. What is your phone's background? My home screen is of Hayley Williams; my lock screen is of Beyoncé and Jay-Z on stage. Who played at the last concert you went to? Paramore. Who is playing at the next concert you're attending? I’m really fucking hoping it’s going to be Beyoncé because she’s the only artist left I have yet to see lmao but if not, I’m most likely going to see Paramore again. What's your favorite amusement park ride? I like riding the octopus, but only the one in my high school’s fair. What's your favorite deep-fried food item? Corndogs, for sure. Why were you last pulled over? I got confused with the road rules in Alabang and ended up stopping at a red light albeit over a pedestrian lane. Stilllllll pissed about that instance to this day and I’ve never gotten over how rude the traffic enforcer was towards me. Do you have any friends that own a private lake? I don’t think so, we don’t have a lot of lakes here to begin with. What was the last thing you've done on the water? Take a shower, if I understood this question correctly. Canoeing or kayaking? I kayaked in Palawan when we were there and it was so peaceful and felt like absolute heaven. I’d relive that experience over and over again. What's your favorite lake? Like I said, we don’t really have a lot of lakes here. I don’t even know enough to pick a favorite. Are you cool with swimming in a lake? Sure, why not. Do you have a drone? I don’t. I’m not interested in having one. Do you have a smart watch? Nope. I’d love one but tbh I end up losing every watch I ever try to wear, so buying one would be pointless. What's your favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant? It’s a bar rather than a restaurant, but Exile was such a fun place to be in. I still don’t understand why they had to close down so suddenly when sooooo many college kids were going there every single day. It’s since been replaced by this random shrimp restaurant, though I think that already closed too since no one ever went there because EVERYONE PREFERS EXILE. It was a very important part of my early college years and it helped me get out from my slump, so I’ll always be grateful that it was around at some point. What do you order from there? I don’t even remember anymore, it shut down two or three years ago. I’ll see if their menu is still up on Zomato... andddd it’s not. It’s like it never existed, sigh. What's your favorite ice-cream flavor? Cookies and cream. They jack up the prices for Ben & Jerry’s here like CRAZY so even though I’ve wanted to try so many of their flavors, I’ve never gotten to try it. I’m not paying ₱500-₱600 for ice cream. Do you have any t-shirts from any local businesses? Yes, I have a couple of shirts from this local business called Artwork. Their employees, who are also artists, produce original designs on t-shirts, bags, pins, shoes, wallets, etc. every week so every time I visit the store, the selection is almost always completely brand new. What is your prettiest friend's first name? Gabriela, hehe. Who is your favorite comedian? Not really into comedians. I like Andy Samberg’s work, but mostly only for Brooklyn Nine-Nine. What's your favorite Netflix series? Queer Eye or Black Mirror, if we’re talking about original Netflix series. Do you listen to any talk shows or podcasts? I regularly tuned in to a morning radio program when I’d drive to school before quarantine started, but that’s it. Do you know anyone who's had their own podcast? Nope, but I have friends and acquaintances who have released other stuff, like vlogs and EPs. Where were you the last time you stayed in a hotel? Cavite. What are you looking forward to, today? Mom bought shawarma so I can’t wait to eat them tonight. What are you looking forward to, in the next few months? For this Covid mess to finally blow over so I can have an actual, tangible graduation and see all my friends again. Are you a dog or a cat person? Dog. Without. A. Doubt. Do you know anyone who is freaked out by cats? Me. They never liked me no matter how nice I am with them, so I can never be around one for more than a minute. There’s only one cat that’s been nice to me – one of the cats that roam around the college, we call him Ginger – but even then, sometimes his claws can get super sharp when we play and it pierces my skin and I get scared, ahuhu. I’m sure cats are super nice and that they make for great pets, but we just can’t ever bond lol. Do you know any with Crohn's disease? No.

Warnings: None, just Language- these are the Winchester’s after all. Maybe some angst if you squint, brotherly fluff.
Summary: In the wake of his wife’s surprise pregnancy, Dean gets some shocking news and looks to his little brother for advice.
A/N: the scene with the ultrasound has some lines from one of my favorite movies called “The Back-up Plan” I’m just borrowing them for fun. This chapter is Dean’s POV.
Catch up on the series HERE
Everything is NOT gonna be ok!
Y/N is pregnant.
Don’t get me wrong, that I’m thrilled about!
But today at the doctor he told us she’s having twins! Two. There’s two kids in there! Omg I’m totally freaking out... but I can’t tell my wife that- she’s freaking out enough on her own! What the hell am I gonna do?
Earlier that day
“Dean are you ready to go to our ultrasound?” Y/N calls out from the hall. She’s nearly 3 months pregnant and today we get to see a picture with one of those sona-somethings. I’m actually really excited.
“Yeah babe” I reply “just grabbin the keys” I meet her in the Hall with a quick kiss and we walk to the garage, load up in baby (my first baby) and head on our way.
Once we arrive, Y/N checks us in and we wait for a bit, chatting idly about nothing in particular. The nurse finally calls us back and does all the normal check up stuff; height, weight, blood pressure, bloodwork. Ugh... needles. Anyway the doctor comes in and squirts some gel on Y/N’s belly and we patiently wait... it’s time to see my baby!
A sudden swooshing sound fills the room and we look at each other,
“Huh” the doc says curiously, and when he doesn’t say anything else I have to ask,
“Huh?... What huh?” I say concerned.
“Oh, there’s another heartbeat” he says nonchalantly.
“IT HAS TWO HEARTS?” I yell panicked. What the hell does this mean and what do I have to do to fix it!? In a split second the doc yells back,
“NO BUT YOU HAVE TWO BABIES!....congratulations, your having twins!”
I heard Y/N say “Oh my God” and I don’t remember much after that.
I’m super excited to be a dad, but if I’m being totally honest with myself I’m also terrified. I grew up on the road knowing about all the nightmares that lurked in the dark. I didn’t get a childhood, how am I going to provide one for someone? Let alone TWO someone’s! I...what....how?
“SONOVABITCH” I bite out under my breath. My heart is racing, head pounding, ears ringing... I feel like I was just thrown headfirst into a wall by a Demon.
I wipe my face with my hand and take a deep breath. I gotta calm myself down... get my head in the game. Think. Who can Help....SAM! Sam’s a dad, I’ll talk to Sam.
“Hey Sammy” I greet my little brother. Of course the geek boy is in the library reading. My oldest nephew JD is there too though we call him Shaggy on account of his hair, looking every bit like the little Sammy that used to follow me around. His head is buried in a book while sitting next to his father.
“Hey Dean. How ya holdin up?” Sam asks, giving me a knowing look.
“Good. Good. I’m good Sam.” I stutter trying to keep my voice even.
“Right” he says, “Shaggy, buddy go find mom and Auntie Y/N see if they need any help with dinner”.
My nephew dashes out with an “ok daddy” and I take his seat.
“So twins huh?” Sam says, trying to start a conversation,
“Yeah, that’s what the doc says”
“So what are you thinking"
“I’m thinking how bad I’m gonna screw up 2 kids now instead of one!” I say
“Dean, your not gonna screw up...” Sam starts but I cut him off leaping from my chair to pace,
“How do you know Sam?! I don’t know anything about kids! How am I gonna be responsible for 2 little people?!” I’m near shouting now but I can’t help it, I’m totally freaking out!
“Dean.” I turn to look at my Sasquatch of a little brother, “you done?” he asks.
“Oh I’m sorry Sam, were you busy!?” I snap. What the hell is wrong with me? He’s just tryin to help. Get it together Dean.
“No Dean, I’m here to talk. To listen. I just want you to calm down.” he gestures to the chair and I sit back down, trying to suppress the urge to get up and pace the room again.
“Sorry” I mumble.
“Dean, you know a lot about kids. You’ve helped out a ton with JD and Bobby”
“That’s not the same thing Sam. I’m not gonna be the cool uncle I’m gonna be the dad!”
“So now I’ll be the cool uncle” Sam smirks
“You’ll never be as cool as me”
“Jerk”
“Bitch”
“Seriously Dean, you know what your doing.” He says with confidence.
“How can you say that Sam? How do you know I won’t fuck these kids up?”
After a moment of silence he says,
“I turned out ok”
Fuck. That was unexpected ... Dammit Sam!
I just look at him, and he smiles knowingly.
“Seriously Dean. You pretty much raised me when you were just a kid yourself. You made sure we had food, that we were clean, and you always kept us safe. You helped me with my homework, took me to school, patched up dad, and took care of me when I was sick and scared...you were the only one who was always there for me” he pauses for a moment while what he said sinks into my bones. I know he’s right, there’s truth to what Sam is saying, and I feel somewhat calmer know, but the fear is still there.
“You get me?” He asks
“Yeah I get you” I slap his shoulder as I stand “are we done with this chick flick moment Samantha or should I call Dr.Phil?”
He gives me his signature bitch face and I grin triumphantly
“We’re done. Feel better?”
“Yeah” I exhale “actually I do. Thanks Sammy”
“Don’t mention it”
“I’m still not 100% sure about this though” I say but Sam hears my unspoken message - I’m scared.
“I know” he says “and you always will be. Remember how scared I was when I first found out Eileen was pregnant?”
“Yeah you were a psycho” I answer “I think you bought every baby book ever sold!”
“Yeah I did” he smiles “but it was you that got me through it, told me I could be a father, and I trusted you”
“I trust you Sam, but why am I still so scared?”
“What you feel now Dean is Dad fear. And that never really goes away.” He chuckles at the face I make in response to his statement.
“Think of it this way Dean. We know about all the evils out there, right?” At my nod he continues, “but we don’t let that fact hinder our everyday life. We deal with it, move on and at certain times it becomes intense, like on a hunt- when your running solely on fear and adrenaline. We handle whatever situation is causing the problem and then that fear and knowledge steps into the background..... that’s parenting Dean. The fear that you will mess up, or that your child will get hurt is always there. It just takes a back burner to the important moments and special memories, until something happens that causes it to resurface. Then we handle it and the fear takes a step back again.”
“Like when Crash broke his arm?” I say (he has that nickname for a reason) “That was the hunt. But... knowing it could happen was like knowing a Vamp could sniff you out at any moment?” I ask, the metaphor finally sinking in.
“Exactly” Sam says.
“So you actually have some brains under all that hair dontcha Sammy?” I quip, ruffling his hair for good measure. He slaps my hand away and throws a playful jab at my shoulder. We tussle a bit until the wives holler telling us dinner is ready.
I smile as I watch my family gather around the table,Maybe everything will be alright after all. Maybe I can do this dad thing.

Accidentally yours part 7–p.p
College!peter x reader
Summary: you and peter are sent off to study abroad for college but your college messes with the dorm system and leaves you and peter in the same room for a whole semester what will happen?
Warnings: fluff
A/n: so, I have the master list but I won’t link it because when you link stuff it doesn’t show up on the search engine. Anyways there will be around 12 parts to this because I plan on making it a pretty short series.
Time was something that you and peter could not avoid. You and peter were able to avoid every other possible thing if you truly wanted. The ultimate thing you and peter could not avoid was the time that ticked away and only made things worse.
Peter sat on his bed highlighting a passage for school, you had taken the desk. It was only 1:22pm and the rain still poured. You and Peter had stopped working together once the clock hit 11:45am, both working on two separate things and too unbothered to talk to one another.
You hadn’t talked about the kiss at all, both kisses actually. You wanted to speak but it’s like your mouth wasn’t listening to your brain and your eyes would Just stare wide at peter awkwardly but you wished you spoke. It was only until you had to count to three before your mouth could actually work.
“We need to talk!” You blurt our and he looks up taking out his headphones and took the pencil out of his mouth.
“O-okay, about what?” He asked as if he didn’t know.
“You know about what.” You tell him giving wide eyes. “The kiss, the one when we were drunk like a while ago and the one last night.” You tell him.
His hands got visibly clammy and you could hear his hard sallow.
“Look, I’m sorry if you didn’t want me to kiss you last night I just was in a moment. I panicked I don’t really know what I panicked about but it felt really right. I’m sorry if you didn’t like it I understand that.” You finish and he stares at you with big eyes.
“No I liked it.” Is all he says before he continues. “I just haven’t really had a girl kiss me in awhile so it shocked me. I don’t really know how to react to these situations I guess, I’m kinda nervous. I-I wanna take things slow if that’s okay—if you even want to take things anywhere!” He puts his hands up in defense.
“I wanna take things somewhere.” You smile to him and he smiles back. That was the room for a moment, staring at each other and smiling.
“We should take a study break,” he breaks the contact. “I read in a ted talk—I mean I watched in a ted talk that it’s best or else we over work the brain.” He tells you and you nod before pushing your stuff off to the side.
“Yeah, we totally should.” You nodded. “We could walk around shops? I mean I know it’s rainy but we have a whole day off so...” you trail off.
“Yeah sure, I’d like that.” You got up and walked over to pull out a thick sweater to replace the shirt you had on now. London was far colder than New York and you had caught onto that pretty quick.
“Should we grab some lunch?” He asked as he put his stuff back into his backpack.
“Yeah sure. I bet we could find a place, I’m in a mood for pizza but like good pizza.” You tell him and he nods.
“Then lets go get good pizza.”
~
You found a small Italian restaurant that had everything you and peter wanted. They had great pizza and peter and you both got to try wine for the first time. Peter nearly choked because he didn’t realize how dry the alcohol was.
“(Y/n)?” You hear a voice call you and you see peters eyes look behind you which causes you to turn your head.
“Kai? Hi!” You smiled at him in a way for hoping he’d go away.
“I didn’t know you and parker were friends.” He smiled and came over which caused peter to look at you slightly hurt. He thought that you guys were taking things slow not you and Kai.
“Uh, Yeah, super close.” You smile which causes peter to sink slightly in his seat. He was in a way pouting like a child because he wanted you to only like him.
“That’s cool,” He smiled at you and then looked over at peter who took a sip of his wine withouyt looking over at the tall man. “Well, I’ll leave you two alone! Have a good day. (Y/n).” He winks at you and then walks away.
Peter refused to make eye contact with you, he looked out the window, at the fake flowers in the restaurant, other people, even just stared at his own fingers. He didn’t want to be around you after that, he wanted to be alone, call Ned, tell him everything,
“Peter please—“ before you could finish he cut you off.
“I’ll get the check, don’t worry.” He shakes his head taking another sip of the drink he already hated, it tasted so dry and bitter.
“That’s not what I was going to say, that whole encounter was not—“ he cut you off again, this time harsher.
“Just a few hours ago you and I decided we were going to take things slow, just a few hours ago we finally talked about what we were dying to talk about and you already go to another guy? Not to be the one to break it to you but A) you can’t have two guys at once, and B) he doesn’t give a shit about you okay? He only wants to have sex with you and then he’d leave.” He harshly said but then realized he didn’t mean it, he didn’t mean it at all and you couldn’t tell if he meant it or didn’t.
“Wait (y/n), I didn’t—“ he tried to apologize but you shook your head with tears threatening to spill.
“No, No, it’s okay I get it.” You wipe the tear that fell. You felt so stupid for crying, you knew what he said was true but you hated it. “Excuse me can we get the check?” You asked the waiter that was serving you and she nodded.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it—“ he tried to say but you shook your head telling him that you were done listening.
“I wasn’t going to go out with him because I like you peter.” You spit as the waiter come back with the check and he takes it before you can even touch it. He places the money with a tip in the fold and just waits for the moment to pass. He didn’t want to mess anything up.
“I didn’t mean to sound so harsh okay? Can we try and work things out? Again?” He asks knowing this wasn’t the first time you two had to work things out.
“We share the same dorm so eventually we’ll work it out right?” You ask and he took this as a note for him to not ask anymore questions for the rest of the night.
~
When you got home you went straight to the bathroom to take a shower, it wasn’t even late in the day for you to go to sleep you just wanted to think. It’s not like you could take a bath since the tub was shitty and probably couldn’t fit your body. You wanted to apologize but he yelled at you first to be fair.
Peter felt akward again, he felt like day one. He had a good two hours with you but then fucked it up. He decided that he needed help, again, from the one and only Ned.
“Dude, I need your help.” Peter said as he stood out in the hall giving you privacy.
“What do you need help with this time?” He pretended to complain.
“I fucked it all up! We talked about the kiss, well kisses. She came in my bed last night and kissed me then fell asleep cuddling me. We talked and then we kinda went on a date? I don’t know. But this one guy, his name is Kai and I hate him, he came up and flirted with her and I got jealous and sorta snapped on accident because I thought she was flirting but she wasn’t.” He breathed out trying to explain the most.
“Woah, slow it down.” Ned said. “You mean to tell me you got this girl to go out with you and you already got jealous? Not cool.” Ned says.
“I didn’t mean to it’s just I knew she thought he was attractive! She literally told me the other night!” Peter yells into the phone in a panicky voice.
“I think you need to talk this one out with her. I can’t—I don’t—have anything for you to say to her other than just tell her how you feel, girls are sensitive! When I make Betty mad I get her her favorite food and some flowers and that normally makes up for it. Betty and I have been dating for a year though so that’s different. But talk to her peter, she’s not a robot.” Ned says and peter feels his body lighten up.
“Thanks Ned.” He says. “I’ll talk to her.” Peter says before he hangs up the phone placing it back in his pocket. He took a deep breathe before entering the room again.
“Hey I needed—“ he starts before he hears the soft snores.
He saw you laying there on your bed, cozying up with your blankets and already falling asleep. It was only 6:30pm and he didn’t know you were tired. The thing is that you weren’t tired, you just wanted to clear your mind and falling asleep would help you do that.
“Oh,” he says to himself before he crawls back into his bed. “I’ll wait until tomorrow.”
“I’m sorry Pete.” You tell him though your sleepy voice. “I knew you thought he was firting with me but I wasn’t flirting back. I like you and only you. It’s gonna be hard for me to get use to having a boyfriend but I’ll get use to it.” You tell him and he stares at you with his soft brown eyes.
“I get it.” He says. “I have to get use to having a girlfriend.” He lets out a little laugh. “Do you wanna you know—I mean you don’t know because I haven’t told you—sleep in my bed?” He asks awkwardly.
“Sure.” You get up and walk over to his bed. “I don’t wanna make this a routine but you’re cozy.”
You immediately cuddle into peter, he’s always warm, oddly ripped for a guy you never see work out and eat a lot of junk, he smells like peppermint and mahogany wood, and he has a soft yet strong grip.
“When finals are over? What will happen to us?” He asks now freaking out a little only because finals were only two weeks away.
“We see what happens I guess.” You mumble into his chest. “Good night peter.” You tell him and he kisses the top of your head.
He was scared, but he knew he could make everything work with you.
Please leave feedback it helps me out and let’s me know if you want another part
