#I don't know how to cook

WHY AM I SO USEELESS /vent

- 10 oz milk

- 2 tbsp sugar (mix of brown and regular)

- 2 tbsp cocoa powder (play around with different types!)

- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- 1 tsp instant cofee

- small pinch of salt

- (optional) dash of cinnamon and cardamom

- couple oz of chocolate (any kind mixed how you like)

Start by adding all the dry ingredients to a pot over medium temperature, pouring in a tbsp or two of water and whisk thoroughly till it forms a smooth "sauce." Add milk and heat till simmering. Add chocolate and stir till melted, use a spatula here to get in the corners. In your cup/mug/whatever add the vanilla (to keep it from being cooked off). Pour mix into cup, top with whatever, and enjoy.

I think Gastronauts on Dropout is the cooking show that has made me truly appreciate the skill of professional chefs more than any other cooking show.

Like I don't know if it's because the challenges are so crazy or the fact that the judges don't have any professional input whatsoever (they're all comedians), but the combination of how utterly stoked the judges are to be eating this food and how creative the chefs get to be really works to make you marvel at just how skilled a professional chef has to be.

Other cooking shows always have a level-voiced narrator listing out shit like,

"Rebecca is doing a praline-mint ganache with a Twiffly Street stir-up, combined with a gestelle Santa Maria sponge technique."

And it's fun to pretend like, 'Ah, yes. Of course! A classic of the genre! He'd be a fool not to!' as though I know anything about cooking or baking.

But on Gastronauts, it's a bunch of comedians who would really graciously appreciate some fancy food, watching chefs cook and going, like,

"What is that? What is he doing?? It's like- like a swishy thing! Like a fancy swishy thing!!"

"OH MY GOD YES, HE'S USING ONIONS."

"Ooo! Crunchies!??"

And then the chefs get to come out and formally present their food, which makes them look very smart. And these actors who generally can't afford Michelin star cuisine are just :DDDD!

And it's like, oh yeah. This is about my level, yes. This conveys how normal people who don't eat good food for a living would actually react. And it's super chill. It's good vibes, that show. 👌

On average, what is the total MONTHLY amount that you spend on dining out*?

*(This doesn't only count going out to restaurants, but also stuff like picking up fast food to bring home, getting a coffee on the way to work, getting a premade sandwich from a grocery store deli during lunch, buying a quick snack from a convenience store or food cart whilst walking somewhere, ordering a pizza or any other food to be delivered to your home, etc.)

(I'm sure polls similar to this have been made before (very common topic), I just haven't personally seen one that I can remember, so, I was curious to do my own! Currently trying to crawl my way through Cat Bohannon's Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution. It sucks because I've enjoyed a lot of it, the actual evolutionary and developmental biology discussion is super interesting and informative, and the illustrations are so gorgeous. But then every twenty pages she'll follow up a brilliant paragraph with the dumbest trans-pandering shit you've ever read, with zero of the evidence normally provided to justify every other subject in the book. It's like she's constantly grovelling on hands and knees not to get cancelled for the mortal sin of daring to write about the female sex. Severely irritating and really brought down the experience of reading it.

My dad is transphobic and since he knows I was on hrt (still am just very low dose because he threatened me to stop), he's doing everything in his power to affect me mentally. Now he conditioned me to pay the house's bills by myself or he kicks me out. And he knows I'm making money mostly for my medication, I take antipsychotics, SSRIs and mood stabilizers. Otherwise I'm not functional (I'm considered disabled)

idk if this is me just overthinking things but the fact that he's THE dnd hero but he's also like. a petite little guy and his defining character trait is being KIND and he loves his friends and he's very physically affectionate (which feels kind of crazy to me that the early books came out so long ago and he was always like that??) and his best friend is his cat and he likes to have FUN and he treats swordfighting like dancing and he STILL sought the approval of his family even after years of abuse aND HE JUST LOVES EVERYONE SO MUCH
